Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Country Sport Breakfast with Brian Kelly on
gold Sport.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Everywhere, eighteen minutes after eight o'clock here on gold Sport
in the Country is Sport Breakfast. Joining us out of
the mid service in Wellington, Lewis, First.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Morning, Lewis, Good morning. How are we doing today?

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Good mate. I've been talking to a few of my
correspondents around the country today and down south they've actually
had the fires and heat pumps going.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
It's been cold, yes, yep, absolutely down around zero degrees
in Queenstown this morning, so another little frosty start, reminding
us that it's still spring, even though I wouldn't sorry,
Summer is justing around the corner, so we will still
see a few cold mornings. We did have some cold
here moved up over the country, but generally things get
a little bit warmer heading into the weekends.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
We're talking about Queenstown. There's a warm up game for
the English cricket team in Queenstown on the weekend, playing
New Zealand A. So what's the weather going to be
like there for the weekend.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Does still remain on the cooler side on Saturday, but
does look like the sun will be around so even
though that temperature might be low, the sun is nice
high in the star at the moment, so sunscreen will
definitely need to be applied. And then on Sunday, things
over the country or the southern part of the country
turn a bit more westerly, so we're looking like that
temperature will come up, but it will probably be a
bit more cloud cover on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
I'm looking at the situation, Matt. There's a massive high
setting off the west coast of New Zealand across the Tasman,
isn't it.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Yes, And it just kind of sits there through the
weekend into next week, so it does keep generally the
weather around the country on that settled side of things.
It's not going to be perfect everywhere. We do see
some showers popping up in the afternoons through the weekend.
They're not going to affect everyone. They will just be
sprinkled around the country. Mainly it looks like sort of
those eastern coasts of the North Island. I'm not saying

(01:49):
it's going to be great amount of rainfall for those
very dry parts around Hawk's Bay Gisbon, but even as
we move into the next week, that high is still
kind of holding pretty steady out in the Tasman move
over the country slowly. Some wheather does look to get
into the west coast of the South end, but again
it's all on that non severe side, so generally things

(02:09):
are settled. But it's not going to be those perfectly
sunny days you might hope. Well, they'll just be a
bit more less wind, maybe a little bit of cloud around,
but still something that you can make some outdoor plans with.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Some of the best triathletes in New Zealand and the
world are in the Bay of Plenty in Tarrona this
weekend for an event called the tin Man. It looks
like what's going to be like Sunday for that one.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
It's actually looking pretty good. Not too much in the
way of sun, maybe some cloud cover, which I think
would be probably pretty useful. It does look like some
inland showers might pop up, but again they're not going
to be everywhere, and honestly, if you're doing some sort
of long distance and endurance event, might be nice to
get a sprinkling of brain.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Yeah, probably all right, And THENTO next week things will
warm up, will they where we get some warmer weather eventually?

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Yes, it does look like things kind of turn a
little bit more westly. Even with the influence of that
higher round, we do see some westleys sprink's coming spreading
over the South Island and up into the North. So
it looks like those eastern hotspots again do look to
get up into the sort of high twenties from Tuesday
Wednesday next week, so we're going to start saying more
of those summer like temperatures returning across the country.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Fantastic, Lewis, have a great weekend, mate, thank you for
joining us. Well do you too, Lewis, fare us out
of the meat service here, just looking at the situation,
your lovely big high just really settled across the testament.
I'll tell you what. Queensland getting an absolute hammering. There's
flooding in Queensland, getting all sorts of bad weather. They're
at the moment
