Speaker 1 (00:09):
You're listening to a podcast from News Talk sed be
follow this and our Wide Ranger podcasts now on iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Rerap.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
Okay there and welcome to the re Rap. All the
best bets from the my casting breakfast on News Talks.
He'd be in a sillier package. I am Glen Hart
and today a lot of Pike River talk this week,
of course with the anniversary, so we'll touch on that briefly.
Richard Chambers, the police commissioner, the speedy police commissioner. He's
(00:50):
found himself in a bit of hot water, hasn't He
will mark the week because that is what we do
on Fridays, and we'll find out how much Thanksgiving dinner
is going to cost us this year. Before any of that,
Winston Peters, are you all right?
Speaker 1 (01:02):
Mate?
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Mike?
Speaker 2 (01:02):
I'm sick and tired of Winston's nonsense. Just when you
think he's becoming a bit of a states when he
booms down the just spitballing. But if Winston drops dead
before the next election, what happens to New Zealand First support?
It's an interesting question. I'm not suggesting he's going to
drop dead, and I'm not suggesting you, but I looked
at him yesterday, and he doesn't I mean to say
he doesn't look well as unfair. He looks eighty. I mean,
(01:24):
most eighty year olds look eighty, but most eighty year
olds aren't on a plane every second day. And he's
off to China for drinks with the Chinese and the
ship builders next week. And he's on a plane permanently
circling the world. And it's not good for your health
being permanently on a plane. And he looked tired yesterday.
He looked tired. He looked warm down, which is not
termed innegrate him in any way, shape or form. It's
just to say, I hope he's got a succession plan. Well.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
The last time I saw Winson Peters in person, he
was out to lunch with the misses on a Sunday afternoon,
as indeed was I not with his missus, with my misses,
and I thought he looked ship shaped, and I thought
he were very relaxed and at peace with the world,
(02:11):
so that maybe might just saw them at at a
stressful moment.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
It's a rewrap.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
It's a dangerous business talking about Pike River, even this
far on after the event.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Isn't it Pike River? Mike all they wanted with the
bodies back at the beginning. Now it's a publicity stunt
and a name for more money. Shame on. Then I
forgot that Pike River is like fluoride, is like covid,
is like vaccines. It's camp central. It's like people who
just want justice, and there are people who go as
in that time we moved on from Pike River. It's
(02:46):
an amazing thing what a nation can get exercised about
over a period of time.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
When it comes to tinfoil hats, what was the first
thing that you ever had to wear a tinfoil hat for?
I mean, I'm pretty sure it was to keep out
space rays. I know, I think the tinfoil definitely came
out again when five G what's happening? Thick A five
G away? I'm not sure it would have helped anybody
(03:15):
down the piper of mine Unfortunately, right, do we have
a systemic problem at the top of the police force.
It seems like they're all a little bit flawed, these guys, why,
I mean, at least a little bit, and some of
them are a lot flawed.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Would we be asking the questions of Richard Chambers, police Commissioner.
If we hadn't been dealing with mix skimming and Costa
and Co. Now, Chambers, from my dealings with them, is
exactly the sort of person who the police need leading them.
He is one of those appointments. When it's made, you
get it, Unlike Costa's appointment. When it was made, you
saw a doomed fingerprints. All ober in history shows how
that worked out. From all his actions so far, he
(03:55):
not only had to write the direction of the police broadly,
but tidy up a god awful mess that if you
believe headlines are shaking the public's faith in the entire force.
Now I don't actually believe that for a moment. Police
at fifteen thousand strong are not rotten the same way
the bad Apple and corporate doesn't mean the whole business stinks.
But as a result of the mess, Chambers felt it
necessary to share the speeding ticket news one hundred and twelve,
which as far as I know, was actually one hundred
(04:17):
and eleven. Not that that excuses it. It just keeps
getting misreported. And then he's down Oriental Parade with Cash
Pattel having a dip while there's a tsunami warning. Now
he thought the tsunami warning was lifted. It wasn't. He
had to bring the appropriate people and say sorry. And
then he's in front this week of the Parliamentary Committee
having his Minister Mark Mitchell heap praise on him as
well he might. The point being are we micro analyzing
(04:39):
people in public life? And if we are, is it useful?
And if it isn't, which I doubt it is. Do
we put people off going for top jobs in the
public service? Can you be a decent operator and completely
innocent or incident free? Is any of us completely incident free?
Is one hundred and eleven cays even a thing? I mean,
may a copper? I go one hundred and eleven every
weekend in the country, probably more a lot of people do.
(05:01):
Do I take tsunami warning seriously?
Speaker 1 (05:03):
No?
Speaker 2 (05:04):
Do I take atmospheric river warning seriously?
Speaker 3 (05:06):
No?
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Read I mean? And Iver reacts to most things driven
by the digital media who live for clicks. So there
you go. I doubt I'll be a police commissioner. What
I also knows it can't be bothered with the myopic
gawking over matters of little or no importancy. Chambers is
clearly more patient man than I am. But as I say,
he seems the real deal and the man for the job.
How about we let him get on with it and
(05:27):
give the nonsense arrest.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
I mean, when Hosk says he goes one hundred and eleven,
I'm assuming he means on the road where you can
go one hundred and ten. And if his speedomitter is
saying one hundred and eleven, he's probably actually only going
one hundred and eight, one hundred and seven, something like
that weird house Photomina's work that way, isn't it the
rewrap I had to say all that stuff because the
(05:49):
boss is very worried that host committed to a crime
on air there, and I don't think he has. Just
technically speaking, let's mark the week before anybody says anything
else incriminating.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Time Now to mark the week. Little piece of news
and current events that's powered by four GB three hundred
ships Switzerland seven tariffs from thirty to fifteen, and all
it cost them was a couple of suckups going to
Washington to present the King with a watching the gold bar.
Uber three Supreme Court may have read the law, which
means the law needs changing because what those four drivers
wanted and won is not what the gig economy is
(06:22):
all about. Fairies six an improvement on what we have
job done Tory two as in fun moving to Melbourne.
You see, not every loss is a loss. The car
import Levey six because the government has done the right
pin but what a mess ah, Yes, the car import
(06:42):
levy two. See the actual idea is stupid and it's
exactly what you get when your Gerrymanda markets food prices
six up four point seven. The good news is they
were up five, so we're getting there. The Real Estate
Institute seven bullish headline of the week, Spring has arrived
in housing. That's what they said. The All Blacks three
(07:03):
wa how different this week could have been? Whales seemed
like such a low light, don't they are? UKs Law
seven hinto panic about that this week. It's amazing, isn't it?
How long it takes some governments to work out what
tea is a country? Your part axed bill to abolish
the BSA eight Yes please New Zealand in seven yet
another solid week the aforementioned housing report. Of course, we've
(07:25):
got BFx sports QII through forecasting in the number of
companies like Turners that got the profit up green shirts,
green shoots, green shirts. Oh and the cycle trail seven
one point two billion worth of peddling opportunity sex as
in the political party. I mean, I admire their pluck
and determination and staying power is not convinced. There's a
five percent out there to be had, and that is
(07:45):
the week copies on the website. And if you fly
three times around the world in business class, take fifty
six Aalkland to Wellington Flex Affairs and stand on your
leg for three minutes a week you will get a
CORU Black membership, which comes, by the way, with lounge
access and a year's supply of marking the week.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
Can you understand how the new currow thing works at all?
The domestic manager tried to explain home to me yesterday
or the day before, and my head started spinning very
early on in the explanation and I never caught up
with it after that. The re wrap we don't do
Thanksgiving here, Well, I say we. I mean, if you're
American you possibly do even if you're here, but only
(08:25):
if you can afford it, right O.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
Thanksgiving Dinner fourteen Prices declined third year in a row,
sixteen pound turkey, bitter stuff in, some rolls, some sweet potatoes, peas.
Cranbridge pumpkin comes in at fifty eight eighteen US, which
of course is three thy six hundred and fifty seven dollars,
twenty five yew zealand turkey at twenty one fifty, pumpkin
pie mix at full sixteen, sweet potatoes at four bucks,
(08:46):
one gallon of whole milt three seventy three, fourteen ounces
of stuffing mix at three seventy one. If you're out west,
it's more expensive sixty one seventy five out west. But
if you're down south, fifty dollars and a penny, and
they're not making pennies anymore.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
Pumpkin pie mix. Just buy a pumpkin for that. I
see something about compile that I don't fully understand. They
don't get me wrong. I'll buy Mex definitely. My recommendation
at the moment is I think it's madgy they do.
(09:20):
These air fryer coatings might be continental. I mean, if
it's not one, that's the other, isn't it. But anyway,
so his Japanese style is the salt and pepper one
is that I think it's a Louisiana one and very excellent.
You just get your chicken, tinder loins or just the
(09:41):
slightest amount of oil over them and then sprinkle that
stuff over them and it comes out amazing. That's what
I'd be serving it Thanksgiving, forget the turkey. Enjoy your weekend,
however long it is, and we'll see you back here
again on Monday for another rerap.
