with maps and reno shows and any shows about houses.

a deep rabbit hole.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
I started googling the books. Yeah, about Bridgington.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
I'm definitely obsessed with Bridgeton. But I'm also obsessed with
the Handmaid's Tael, so I'm really looking forward to that
coming back out. I know it's quite a dark thing
to be obsessed with from me.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
Do you know that only show that I am wholeheartedly
going to watch one hundred percent as Clarkson's Farm?
Speaker 4 (01:34):
You love it?

It's a real insight into people's characters, the shows they
get obsised me.
Speaker 7 (01:39):
I dream of it.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
I dream of hanging up the headphones, putting away the mic,
go getting a couple of hundred Hereford cows.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Have anything sees farmer like your hands, so.
Speaker 7 (01:51):
He wouldn't take it off up to speed before You're.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
Luck because you married a farmer's daughter. So maybe maybe maybe.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
That's in your future.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
Maybe sort of farms.
Speaker 8 (02:01):
Make it work.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
Not they're not working already.
Speaker 5 (02:03):
I'm not saying they're not working on I just realized
what I said. Sorry, So what TV show are you
absolutely obsessed with?
Speaker 4 (02:09):
Like you just even thing stopped when that comes on?
What is it for? You would love to hear your story.
Speaker 5 (02:13):
Oh eight hundred double O four coasts, We'll take their
TV show to two six nine nine.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
There's a story that came out a little while ago
last weekend.
Speaker 5 (02:20):
I said New Zealanders are obsessed with certain types of
TV shows, Maps being one of them.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
Married at First Sight.
Speaker 5 (02:24):
I mate John Aikins on there, and also any TV
show with houses on it, like renovation shows showing off
show homes and things like that.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
I haven't watched a few in any renow. I normally
like them, but I don't feel like there are as
many honor as they used to be. You know, when
everything was a you know, do y there garden and
changing rooms and all of that was.
Speaker 7 (02:43):
I want to move the bus.
Speaker 4 (02:44):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
The Extreme Makeover homemak over? Yeah, yeah, what about Sweet Tooth.
You guys watching that.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
No, I've heard amazing things about.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
It, though I'm surprised you too aren't, given we bumped
into the star of the show, the Ramirez, when we're
out running while she was running, we.
Speaker 7 (03:04):
Were eating.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
She was running here in New Zealand, and I'm right
in the thick of it at the moment. The latest
series just dropped on Netflix. It's so good and it
makes New Zealand look phenomenal.
Speaker 7 (03:13):
But the thing is that loses me with the fake is.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
Oh that's what pulls me in. I love a little
kid with ends.
Speaker 5 (03:21):
So what about you one? About the TV shows you're
obsessed with? So what's what's your one? What's your jam?
Speaker 9 (03:26):
Well?
Speaker 10 (03:27):
I was a greatful of the Handmade's Tail.
Speaker 8 (03:31):
Yes, it's finished and it was really disappointing.
Speaker 7 (03:34):
I just was like in the air.
Speaker 8 (03:38):
And ye now I've just finished watching.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
The La same you're basically me what's.
Speaker 8 (03:46):
Similar? Come off with dairy fun?
Speaker 1 (03:49):
Yeah, just quickly so the boys know what we're talking about.
We have reviewed the OA and the show before. Remember
the blind Girl that suddenly shows.
Speaker 5 (03:57):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you love so thank you very
much that it's got Andy, Andy?
Speaker 4 (04:02):
What are you loving? Mate?
Speaker 11 (04:04):
Well?
Speaker 10 (04:05):
Modern series is raising Dion, but back in the day
it used to be the ex Spirals and married with children.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
Yeah, Moulder and Scully.
Speaker 5 (04:13):
Do you know there's a few dark episodes of The
X Files though that got kind of weird towards the end.
Speaker 7 (04:17):
There amazing late.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
David Kovney, he had a few issues did.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
That, but then then he embraced that and then made.
Speaker 7 (04:27):
Was it californa Californication.
Speaker 5 (04:29):
Yeah, that's right, it's a particular.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
At Scott. What about you? What do you say with Well?
Speaker 9 (04:38):
I really like that Handmade's tale.
Speaker 10 (04:40):
But as you know, finished up and we've been waiting
and waiting and waiting. I got on a Yellowstone and
I love how.
Speaker 4 (04:47):
Good is good New Scott.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
They just announced yesterday it's coming back on the first
of November.
Speaker 10 (04:52):
Yeah, but apparently Kevin anymore.
Speaker 4 (04:55):
No, he's gone. You know, John Dutton's gone.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
Did you know did you make some clothing adjustments? Did
you buy the belt or the flash hat?
Speaker 9 (05:01):
Well?
Speaker 7 (05:01):
I good thinking about it.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
He preferred to wear the red cake from Handmaids, So
I think that's closet.
Speaker 5 (05:11):
Been my favorite couple on TV at the moment. Okay,
one last one, Chris, what are you obsessed with? Criminal Minds?
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Are?
Speaker 7 (05:19):
I agree?
Speaker 1 (05:19):
Wasn't that just do you still? Is it still a thing?
Speaker 5 (05:23):
Yeah, it's still a thing.
Speaker 12 (05:24):
It's now on Disney, which is quite a weird thing
for that out all about serial killers.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
I like it too. You and I into the Creepy Stone.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
You literally know what's going to happen every episode the
way like the Little nerdy guy is always going to
crack the code in the girl.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
In the office.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Sometimes they lose a fellow criminal mind or they get captured,
and there's a lot of twists and turns. I'll have
you know.
Speaker 4 (05:47):
When you saying before, you can tell a lot about
a person about what they watch.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
Yep, hand Mad's towel, criminal minds, just all the dark
stuff over here.
Speaker 7 (05:54):
I don't know what hand made styles is about you.
That's a that's a weird one, you know.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
In New zealand's a great place to sell.
Speaker 5 (06:00):
We've got all kinds of different awards, celerating the best
of the best.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
But now we're about to stare down the barrel of
a new awards ceremony.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
Yeah nah, it's what they're called the year NA Awards.
And this has been started by Consumer dot org dot
in z And. If you've ever used Consumer, I have.
I've been a paying customer before. I'm not anymore, but
for a while there when I was purchasing new items. So,
for example, if you wanted to know what's the best
washing machine to get, you would pay a minimal subscription
(06:27):
to Consumer and they go and do all the testing
for you to find out which is the most economical,
what is the best bang for buck? Which one you
want if you want longevity out of your item? And
I used to do it for all sorts of things
like watch all the vacuum cleaners? Should I get? Does
this make me sound like it's a consumer nerd?
Speaker 4 (06:42):
No, that's good.
Speaker 7 (06:43):
I think it's educated, fantastic. I didn't know they did that.
That's the hell of a service.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
So what is this is this nominations to bring up
to nominate people for the awards for both services and products.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
So you have got until Monday the fifteenth of July,
which is a couple of weeks, and you basically go
to consumer dot or got in zed and you can
nominate someone that's given you bad service or a brad
bad products, and then they're going to be actual trophies
for the people that have done it the worst.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
On No, you don't put that on encounter at the shop.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
This is fun, though, isn't it, Because everyone's I know,
everyone in their mind right now has someone that's wrong.
Speaker 7 (07:14):
Then you're somebody that going back to No, absolutely not.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
I don't give you a failed criter.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
The criteria here, Well, I'm going to be filling out
of form this afternoon. See is a great game. I've
got some vendettas.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
Okay, here's this particular business or service. This is the
criteria to be a contender. They have to have a
failing as standard, stinging customers with hidden charges, using false
claims or broken promises, selling products or services that are
an absolute ripoff, or using unclear messaging that causes consumer confusion, frustration,
or just playing outrage.
Speaker 7 (07:48):
You've just summed up my ex accountant.
Speaker 13 (07:51):
Okay, you don't name them just now.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
When do we find out the winner slash losers?
Speaker 1 (07:59):
We out in October?
Speaker 4 (08:01):
Okay, all right, we'll watch the it's a.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
Proper ceremony with trophies and all. It sounds like Sam
will be wearing a tucks.
Speaker 7 (08:07):
I'll be there that night.
Speaker 5 (08:11):
Something I know that back in the day you and
you make boy George from Culture Club had a bit
of a bit of an issue. He' stored off then
interview as a bit of clown to.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
Are you bringing this up to make me angry because
you're about to talk about anger management. He needs the
classes to be fit. That's a crack at me. And
then no one bought took us to his show.
Speaker 7 (08:29):
Many casel, and he had to.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
No one bought tickets because everyone back to me, not boy.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
And this is it.
Speaker 7 (08:34):
You starve New Zealand of a music.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
I ruined boy, George. I saw that and I thought myself,
he ruined himself.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
And I really like his music too. It was disappointing.
It was like an icon being pictured.
Speaker 7 (08:46):
Way, you got to check yourself before you wreck yourself.
Speaker 4 (08:48):
He wrigged himself. Yeah, he didn't check himself, that's right.
Speaker 5 (08:50):
And I thought, you know, this could be perfect for him,
And this could be perfect if you're having a bit
of a rough day anywhere across New Zealand. And I
hope that's not the case. So in New York right now,
and you know, some people in New York hot under
the collar, you know what I mean, New York, get.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
Out of my way? What about?
Speaker 1 (09:03):
That was my care?
Speaker 7 (09:04):
I'm walking here.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
Come on, it's my bagel. So what they've done is.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
They what instance would say, that's my bagels, someone's stolen
your bagels?
Speaker 1 (09:18):
Was only one cheese bagel left?
Speaker 4 (09:20):
That's right, it's a bagel.
Speaker 5 (09:21):
So anyway, what they've done in New York, they've started
installing punching bags around the city again on power poles.
You just go punch of power, but it's all protected
and there it is there, like on the streets of
New York City public punching.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
Go to New York because I've never been. I will
definitely utilize those punches. I might just do a workout
mid shop me too.
Speaker 7 (09:46):
I'm gonna take it. I'm gonna go more than just punching.
I'm gonna throw elbow, make a kick a Liverpool cass.
I already going and you already head But what do
you need to see?
Speaker 3 (09:55):
These?
Speaker 5 (09:55):
Will put these on Instagram and social and social media
and at coast prefacing and see them for yourself. This
we rolled out, This's being rolled across in New York
at the moment. It could work in New Zealand.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
I have as a coach. I have a couple of
crash pads that I got for my neckballers to harden
them up.
Speaker 13 (10:08):
I can bring that in here for you every day.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
I'm not I don't, I don't need it.
Speaker 5 (10:12):
Not still in my BA.
Speaker 7 (10:16):
You brought this to the table this morning, this coast.
Speaker 5 (10:23):
You're about to hear an incredible story Oudaman the Cargo
that involves not just once but twice life saving measures.
Speaker 4 (10:31):
So Wendy joining us at the moment. Wendy, what actually happened?
My friend?
Speaker 8 (10:35):
Feeling one hundred of a season. I come out and
I set to my partner. I said I think you
should bring an ambulance and he said, oh, what's wrong?
Speaker 7 (10:42):
I said, I've got pain that she said, I feel terrible.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
He said, I'll take get to the hospital.
Speaker 7 (10:46):
I said, no, you won't.
Speaker 8 (10:48):
Just get on the phone and door one one one
and get an embudence to here.
Speaker 5 (10:52):
So that's what heavens And the.
Speaker 4 (10:54):
Next minute I had Sam Ollie and Crave for Rive
to save me. So what was going on? Was it
a heart attack?
Speaker 5 (11:01):
Yes, it was a full blowing heart attack.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
On goodness me, Wendy, that must have been really scary
for you. I know that Sam Hook was one of
the people that came and responded, well, how much he
was amazing? How much do you owe her?
Speaker 4 (11:14):
I owe my life.
Speaker 9 (11:16):
If it wasn't for Sam, yeah, I wouldn't be here today.
And the worst part of it, I was.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
Later on I was vomiting and Paul Sam was pregnant
and I didn't know and she was direaching.
Speaker 13 (11:30):
Oh but she hung in there and She didn't tell
me that for a while.
Speaker 10 (11:37):
Later, but she stole married on and worked on me.
Speaker 5 (11:42):
What an amazing woman. Now we actually got Sam's boss
Braiden on the phone with us. Now, Braiden, thank you
very much to what you guys do, because we understand
that Wendy had to be revived twice on the way
from IC Cargo through to Dunedin Hospital.
Speaker 10 (11:52):
Yeah, that's what I understand. Very very lucky lady, and
I'm awesome to hear that she had a great experience
with Sam and the rest of the TAME.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
I think anyone that goes through something like harrowing is
that it's just so thankful, particularly when you get that
extra level of care and Brandon, that is what that
is what you guys do, right, You go above and.
Speaker 10 (12:11):
Beyond, which we always try our best. So it was
a big night for the team as well.
Speaker 5 (12:16):
And that's what we want to talk about too, because
the call out rate for Haltle Horneys and John across
the country has more than doubled in a lot of places.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
Are you guys are so busy than you've ever been.
Speaker 10 (12:25):
Yeah, and every year it goes up and up and
up again. So yeah, we're just trying to sort of
keep up at the moment, and yeah, it's been flat
out though.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
Yeah, I can't imagine it's easy to keep up when
demand is up that high. So you have an appeal out,
can you can you tell us how what you're doing
to try and raise funds to keep ambulances on the road.
Speaker 10 (12:42):
Yeah, so this year's in your appeal. We called it
a Light the Way appeal that's mainly aimed at repairing
or replacing some of our buildings. Yeah, buildings over the
years have sort of degraded, and now we need to
do some big investments to make sure that we've got
buildings for the sort of for the future really for
us to you know, and crease our resources that need
(13:05):
a sort of resilience for us. There's any more of
these natural disasters or emergencies or anything like that.
Speaker 5 (13:11):
Well, you guys have been more than life savers for
our families as well, So we very appreciative what you
guys do. So you can help out Light the Way
dot co dot in z donate today helped the Light
the Way for the emergency ambulance service that could save
the life of you or someone you love. Donations can
be online. Like I said, Light the Way dot co
dot in Zen.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
Thanks for listening to the Feel Good Breakfast catch up
podcast with Coast Tony Street, Jace Reeves and Sam Wallas.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
It's nothing that hits the blood pumping in my world
more than a good old shop. I like to become
the shopping correspondent of the show. Can't wait to actually
can't wait to find out where our big spended destination
is going to be this year. That's going to be exciting.
Speaker 13 (13:51):
Remember we were in Vegas and Hawaii last year.
Speaker 7 (13:53):
Can we top it? That's the question.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
Oh gosh, I hope we can. But a bit closer
to home, we already know.
Speaker 13 (14:00):
That Auckland is getting Target.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
Target is coming to Auckland very soon out by Sylvia Park.
I care, and I care, But I also want to
talk about Dunedin because tomorrow morning Dunedin is getting kmart
at eight a m. The doors are going to fly open.
And I understand how big a deal this is because
as a child, when I was in New Plymouth growing up,
(14:22):
we didn't have a kmart and came out was the
big cool thing and my mum used to was a
special trip drive us from New Plymouth departments to north just.
Speaker 13 (14:30):
So that we could go and visit the big kmart.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
How far is it?
Speaker 13 (14:33):
It's like three hour.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
Drive a day trip for shopping.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
I love that it's a family holiday, not a shopping excorsion'.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
That's where my shopping jeans come from. So if you're
one of the dozens of people planning to camp out
overnight in Duneda tonight so that you could be there
and opening, I get it. I don't get it.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
The same thing happened in Hastings Is in the nineties.
Hating's finally got a kmart.
Speaker 5 (14:56):
People came down the night before in like little tents
lined up ready to go.
Speaker 7 (15:00):
It's need.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
I've got some early, early first opening door specials as well.
Speaker 5 (15:05):
That's the thing with kmar. You know, you go in
there thinking you to buy, I know, like a soap dispenser.
You walk out with a trolley full of stuff you
didn't realize you needed.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
Can I just give you a tip? The workout gear
at KAMA is awesome. Why I'm talking medicine balls, dumb bowels.
Speaker 7 (15:18):
Good.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
Yeah, you know, if you camping out overnight eight degrees
and go for something woolen rather than workout.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
They can't get until it opens.
Speaker 5 (15:25):
It's not before pigging straight to the jackets. You're right, yeah, yeah,
some other great news is what I love this. The
brin Dorwin's are finally midnight to night. Months and months
and months that place has been shut. The road's been shut,
as you know. So now they're going to swing that
door open again. And it's pretty much a lifeline connecting
Northland to the rest of the country.
Speaker 4 (15:42):
Now.
Speaker 5 (15:42):
Yeah, and you know while that's been closed, how much
that's cost Northland. No, they're wreaking between two million and
fourteen million dollars a day.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
Oh, it's isn't it.
Speaker 7 (15:53):
I mean it's State Highway one.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
And we we spent some time up at Waipoo months
ago when it was still closed. Yeah, and State high
One was effectively diverted past you know, those eastern beaches
and it's like going past pedestrian crossings and like speed
bumps and stuff like State Highway one with speed up
bumps and pradition crossing.
Speaker 4 (16:13):
It is ridiculous. I agree so much.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
Plans get yourself to Northland and hot Turp the Duke
of Mulbroo. It's our favorite hotel up.
Speaker 5 (16:20):
In absolutely so it's that great news so suddenly, but you.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
Still want to slap the people on a bum that
took so long to build it.
Speaker 5 (16:27):
We had their challenges with the weather and stuff, and
they're finding it. It's happening at midnights and only celebrate
the good.
Speaker 4 (16:33):
It's happening at midnight to night.
Speaker 8 (16:34):
Yay.
Speaker 5 (16:35):
But I'm excited because we're about to chat with Gareth Styfe,
a financial advisor from Milford as Hid to discuss retirement.
Speaker 4 (16:41):
So he's here to answer our questions.
Speaker 5 (16:42):
But remember this is only information to help you understand more,
not necessarily financial advice.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
Great to see you, Gareth. What do we need to know?
Speaker 12 (16:49):
Firstly, guys, can I just say I'm loving the show
and I'm particularly liking the focus on retirement. Yesterday, I
think you had a section where you were talking about
trying to avoid cognative to climb, yeah, and you had
some excellent callers coming in with plans about retiring in
Thailand or traveling, traveling in a motor home that, yeah,
(17:11):
those types of things, and where we come in is
providing advice to make sure that you have enough money
to achieve those goals. Now, which one of you, guys
is interested in statistics and numbers. Yeah, yeah, well I've
got some information for you from research from Massive University
(17:32):
that suggests that to have a choice lifestyle, so a
little bit of frills, eating out a couple of times
a week, maybe going overseas on holiday, you need to
supplement the New Zealand superannuation by around about forty seven
thousand dollars a year, okay, and that that requires they
estimate savings of around a million dollars to fund that.
(17:52):
Over your retirement, that would be.
Speaker 3 (17:53):
Thirty thousand dollars, which is the superannuation plus about forty
thousand dollars generating from your own money.
Speaker 12 (17:59):
Yes, yes, similar to that that the superinnuation has gone up.
Of it, it's over forty thousand dollars for a couple.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
Now, yeah, then minus text though right, No, that's after
let's talk about the squeeze middle, because there's a thing.
You know, you've got kids that are the very very expensive,
and we get into the stage where we're going to
have to start supporting our pearents as well.
Speaker 12 (18:24):
Yes, yeah, And what I'm thinking is that there's a
long weekend coming up and you may be spending some
time with your with your family. So I've got a
couple of ideas for making your life easier in the
long run. And it's it's that sort of saying, like,
hard decisions now, easy life afterwards. So if you are
with your parents over the long weekend, ask them what
their plan is for retirement, find out if they want
(18:46):
to if they're happy to be cared for in a home,
or if they want you to care for them, or
if they want home care to come in. If you
have those conversations now, then you're you're going to be
in a much better position to be able to deal
with something when when a medical event might happen something
like that, If you prepare for it early, it just
becomes so much easier.
Speaker 7 (19:05):
When will when you say prepare for it? Though, are
they preparing for it? Am I preparing for it?
Speaker 6 (19:10):
Is it?
Speaker 7 (19:11):
So I'm going to team?
Speaker 11 (19:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (19:13):
God, I don't want to have to pay for them.
I've got three kids.
Speaker 4 (19:15):
They're paying for you to go to Europe tomorrow. Anyway,
don't bring that up. This is not the time. Sorry. Sorry,
that's a great idea.
Speaker 12 (19:24):
It's more just everyone's got different circumstances, so it's more
just getting it out there and asking how they want
to be treated, and then you can seek advice about
you know, how are we going to fund this? You know,
what's it going to look like? Where's the money going
to come from?
Speaker 7 (19:38):
Having a plan.
Speaker 12 (19:39):
Yeah, when you said you know your your parents are
sorry to bring it up, but funding.
Speaker 4 (19:42):
You to go to Italy, you know, a very obvious Often.
Speaker 12 (19:48):
When you have children, so you're talking about the squeeze middle,
you're looking after children, looking after your parents.
Speaker 7 (19:52):
For your children.
Speaker 12 (19:53):
You often get gifts for your kids from from grandparents
if you're lucky enough to receive you know, in total,
fifty dollars, ye, one hundred dollars there like two thousand
dollars if that was invested in a fund over the
long term, when you're sixty five, you actually that that
becomes a million dollars if it compounds at ten percent
per annum, about just two thousand dollars.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
So you've got a choice.
Speaker 12 (20:15):
Again, so as that money comes in either by the
by the kids a new bike or or I don't know,
take them out for McDonald's, or you can be disciplined
about it, set up an investment fund and then at
least when they come to spend it, it's going to
have kept up with the raid of inflation, and they're
going to have the ability to spend you know what
your grandparents or what your parents have wanted them to have.
Speaker 3 (20:38):
Know when they make their new choice your walk.
Speaker 4 (20:43):
This is all fair.
Speaker 7 (20:44):
I realized when I said that.
Speaker 5 (20:48):
Garrison amazing and what you need to just go to
the website now for more details about this milfordesit dot com.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
Thank you, sir.
Speaker 1 (20:54):
We need to talk about your shoe selection criteria this morning,
and I just want to give you a bit of
background on how this has rolled in my family. So
we have a bit of friendly banter around the shoes
that my mom wears, because for the last sort of
maybe ten years, she tried to convince my sister and
I that hush puppies were really great because they were
(21:16):
so comfortable.
Speaker 4 (21:17):
With hold on you had me for a while.
Speaker 13 (21:20):
This was prod to the Bungne and Tony.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
You should try them. The hush puppies are great, And
so my sister and I have this running banter with
her that if you got your hush puppies, Mom, I'm
sure that the three comfortable. Anyway, last laugh is on me.
It turns out I have always maintained that you know,
a shoe can really elevate your outfit, and you know
a good heel gives you the elongated leg and it
(21:47):
can just add that little bit of pizaz to what
you're wearing.
Speaker 7 (21:50):
The need to be any more of those there.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
Well, the problem is problem is once you go forward
to one of these shoes, and I'm talking you know
the types of shoes, the cumps, the hush puppies, the sketches,
all those skitches are kind of really cool these days.
Once you try them on, it's very hard to go back.
And I made the fatal mistake of trying them on.
(22:15):
And now now I find myself going to Knitball Nitbull
and these shoes look my pants go a little bit longer.
But I'm going to going, do you know what, I
have to stand on my feet for the next three hours.
I Am going to wear my comfortable shoes. And suddenly
I'm looking at all these sixy shoes and my wardrobe
going I just don't know if I can do it again.
(22:37):
I think I think I've crossed the line.
Speaker 7 (22:39):
I give you to.
Speaker 4 (22:41):
The walls.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
I just don't care. I've given up at forty.
Speaker 5 (22:47):
I recently got a pair of those skitches of this
little slip on skitch of things. You have to do
the latest stuff even that's how lazy I am.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
It's the other kind. I'm talking about cloud And I
said to myself, where have I been? You should have
been wearing these you were ten years ago?
Speaker 7 (23:02):
Don't see me did in those jays you got.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
For comfort like Life's Too Short.
Speaker 7 (23:16):
Is the greatest sell I ever worn.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
Great on your.
Speaker 5 (23:23):

Speaker 7 (23:40):

Speaker 5 (23:43):

Speaker 4 (23:47):

Speaker 8 (23:56):

Speaker 10 (24:00):

Speaker 9 (24:02):
Now it's been talking about shoes.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
Give those really comfy ones you want, Brianna, the new balances,
the are the hot ticket for comfort and what the
cool kids are wearing apparently.
Speaker 7 (24:13):

Speaker 1 (24:19):

Speaker 7 (24:20):
She's done a week ago, and now we've got the
chases today. So here we are. I fly out to
Italy tomorrow and I don't really care, so here we go.
Speaker 13 (24:28):
That's unacceptable.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
You pay for that attitude, all right?
Speaker 5 (24:32):
So Brianna stams leaving the studio. Now you can't hear
what's about to happen. We're going to start a clock
for you with thirty seconds on it. Tony's gonna ask
you some questions. Doesn't really matter what you get out
of five though, because if Sam can't match you, you
will win three hundred dollars after smacking Sam down and
winning their money for the shoes.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
Are you ready?
Speaker 9 (24:48):
Okay?
Speaker 4 (24:48):

why you just matched my school? When I tried this too,
too different? I got but I was only a two
as well, which means Sam might only be a two.
Speaker 4 (25:33):
But if he's not, of course you win the money.
Speaker 13 (25:35):

out the chatting to.
Speaker 1 (25:41):

chase down the two.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
And one thing you should take is that if you
don't care, Sam is better at the quips because when
you don't care your ex you score better. Maybe you
should kill less.
Speaker 7 (26:57):
Maybe that's my problem.
Speaker 4 (26:58):
What you no?
Speaker 7 (27:02):

Well, we're talking about trembling and booking places. Sam's in
fat going to Italy tomorrow, and I thought this was
a good time to bring up this chat about when
you get home from your trip, because you know your
your peak excitement right now about to go and all
the pizza and the pasta and gosh, I hope you
don't stay in a calorie deficit.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
I am going to undo two years of hard work,
the bread and the red wine.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
It's on the Prouds Day.
Speaker 7 (30:42):
My body's going to be like, what on earth is
going on?
Speaker 4 (30:45):
But I like it.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
I won't know what to do he's either going to
start streaming more or you end up in hospital with
all those carbs.
Speaker 3 (30:52):
No, what I'm going to do is I'm going to
create the greatest after and before photos.
Speaker 7 (30:56):
I'm going to do it the other way round.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
But we need to talk about what happens when you
come back, because I saw this recently that there are
two types of people.
Speaker 13 (31:05):
And remember a while back we.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
Talked about stacking the dishwasher and how you're either the
architects do it all beautifully or you're the raccoon and
you just throw stuff into the dishwasher.
Speaker 7 (31:15):
Architect over here, architect, Jason's.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
An ARCHITECTU, you're a raccoon, Sam, don't kid yourself.
Speaker 3 (31:21):
Well, I do criticize my wife and her stacking, so
I think she's there.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
It's another animal that's like a Tasmanian devil, the criticizing kind. Anyway,
when it comes to holiday and you arrive back home
right and you're lugging your suitcases in, you're on a
bit of a downer because the trip's over and you've
got to go to work tomorrow. Are you the reflector
or the rager?
Speaker 4 (31:42):
So different?
Speaker 1 (31:42):
Okay, the reflector, you know, takes the opportunity to think
that was a great trip. I'm going to put the
jug on, I'm going to have a cup of tea.
Maybe we'll talk about some of the cool things that
happen on the trip, and we'll just get about unpacking. Slowly,
but surely we'll start by doing the washing. The rage
arrives home and is in such a flat that you
(32:03):
need to be all pent or already for work the
next day that you are pulling the washing out, you're
unloading your suitcase. You can't do a single thing until
all of that is perfectly away.
Speaker 5 (32:12):
It's me is that you. I unpacked the car. I
unpack the kids stuff. I picked my wife stuff as well.
If I need to, I wan't to pack my stuff.
It's in the it's in the washing machine. If we've
done washing while away, the washing is put away again, I'm.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
Still the rager. I'm a reflector all the way. In fact,
I'm such a reflector that three days later, the suitcase
is still on the corner of my room, and I'm
still working.
Speaker 3 (32:33):
For And there's a good chance my suitcase could stay
on the bedroom four for a month.
Speaker 7 (32:38):
And I always remain living out.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
Here myself for it I hate myself for it.
Speaker 3 (32:43):
It's there, and I think if packing is anything to
go by, my wife has packed herself her she's completely
sort of, all the kids are sorted.
Speaker 7 (32:50):
I have done not a single thing and we leave tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (32:54):
I'm surprise. So, reflector or rager?
Speaker 13 (32:58):
Which one of you?
Speaker 1 (32:58):
And they're both in your partners to marry each other?
Speaker 4 (33:03):
What do you reckon?
Speaker 5 (33:04):
See that takes the two six nine onne? What are
you the reflector or the rager? And therefore, what's your partner?
Speaker 4 (33:09):
Tony reckons? There are two different types of travelers in
the world.
Speaker 1 (33:11):
A reflector the person that comes home, has a cup
of tea, takes their time and sometimes their suitcases and
unpacked for three days. Or are you a rager? You
cannot do anything in your house till that suitcase is unpacked. Peter,
which one are you?
Speaker 9 (33:25):
Oh mate? I'm a definite radio. I just got back home,
well back to Australia last night. I was home for
the weekend for a new villain for a funeral. And
I got back and I was a live in a
caravan and I walked into the caravan. One bag was
on the floor, one bag was on the bench, and
I was stripping off, putting clothes in the washing machine.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
Yeah, person ever had such.
Speaker 13 (33:46):
A hustle of them when they've come back from holiday land.
Speaker 1 (33:49):
What about you?
Speaker 8 (33:50):
I'm a rager. I got back yeap, got back from
Dubai Saturday morning and then jumped in the car and
drove straight down to New Places, which is about five hours,
and got home at five and we were all unpacked.
Speaker 5 (34:04):
Bisex, I love you speaking of my soul.
Speaker 4 (34:07):
I love that.
Speaker 7 (34:10):
Are any reflector is going to call Ellen?
Speaker 4 (34:12):
What about you?
Speaker 8 (34:12):
Rade?
Speaker 4 (34:12):
Your reflector?
Speaker 9 (34:14):
I'm actually both.
Speaker 10 (34:14):
So I go on holiday today and I haven't packed.
Speaker 4 (34:19):
I feel you.
Speaker 5 (34:20):
But the day we're coming home, like the moment we wake.
Speaker 8 (34:22):
Up, I'm she to get home and get everything unpacked up.
Speaker 9 (34:26):
I can't do anything into routine.
Speaker 4 (34:29):
You're so, I get it.
Speaker 7 (34:30):
It's interesting she isn't packed though. That's a diverse character,
right there.
Speaker 4 (34:35):
One more, Sandy, Are your rager or a reflector?
Speaker 11 (34:39):
I'm a reflector.
Speaker 4 (34:40):
I'm with you, Sam, Oh nice, tell us more.
Speaker 11 (34:43):
Here, But I will say I'm also like Sam, I'm
quite most trips. I'm picking is I'm practically walking out
the door. So if you reflect you get to sort
of think about your trip and all that sort of thing,
and and yeah, just for the means that goes a
little bit longer, You're you're gonna.
Speaker 7 (35:04):
Love oh, thank you so much. I can't wait.
Speaker 3 (35:08):
Do you know the other advantage of being reflected, especially
on the packing side of it. You get a new
phone charger in every destination because you always leave.
Speaker 7 (35:14):
It next you here.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
And you know what, there's also one more kind of
person that we haven't talked about.
Speaker 13 (35:19):
We've had the reflect of the rager and this person.
Speaker 1 (35:22):
I let the wife unpacked and I go out the
door and catch up with my bros. That is called
it's not okay, the person who might get divorced exactly.
Speaker 4 (35:32):
A month out from the start of the Olympic Games.
Speaker 5 (35:33):
And how good are the Olympics, right a couple of
weeks you're watching the sport and there's always a surprise, right,
We always like someone comes from knowing you go, We've
got a medal for that.
Speaker 1 (35:40):
It's just such a feel good two weeks and I
think it's exactly what we need at the moment, with
the cost of living the.
Speaker 9 (35:46):
Way it is.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
The weather's getting quite grim, you know, he's flooding.
Speaker 13 (35:50):
Let's just sit back and watch them.
Speaker 3 (35:51):
Inspiring game, absolutely, and you know we talk about better
role models for our kids. You know, is the influenced
by TikTok and other things like that if you want
to influence your kids. The Olympics, what exactly now?
Speaker 5 (36:02):
I said before every down you think like a surprise medal,
not just respectfully, this might happen because how many times
have you won the New Zealand title for surfing.
Speaker 7 (36:10):
Eight times national champ?
Speaker 4 (36:12):
Yeah, look at you nice?
Speaker 1 (36:14):
Awesome.
Speaker 13 (36:14):
How did you get into surfing originally? But when did
it start?
Speaker 2 (36:18):
Well?
Speaker 6 (36:18):
I was basically born and Brandon Raglan, and Ragland's known for,
you know, to have awesome waves and be a bit
of a surf community. And my dad was a surfer,
so it was inevitable that I was going to start surfing.
He pushed me into a few waves down the beach
when I was eight or nine. I started skating before that,
and I was a big Rugby fan until I stopped
growing at about twelve. You could have played yeah again
(36:44):
I stopped growing, but excuse me? And then yeah, I
got pushed in at the beach by my dad and
you know, eventually went on to the point breaks in
Raglan and yeah, I love the ocean and you know
what it brought me and taught me and yeah, and
I was very competitive still am obviously, but yeah, and
then that kind of just progress from there.
Speaker 3 (37:03):
So you've got the Olympics. It's in France. How do
the waves compare? Is it like, is it a type
of wave that's going to suit your surfing?
Speaker 6 (37:09):
Yeah, so the surfing actually isn't in France. It's in Tahiti,
of course.
Speaker 4 (37:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 13 (37:15):
It's nice destination.
Speaker 6 (37:18):
Yeah, saying that there is waves in France really good ways,
but it's the middle of summer, so it's not known
to have a lot of swell. Right, So they've moved
surfing to Tahiti, which is French Polynesia.
Speaker 7 (37:27):
How far away is that from France.
Speaker 6 (37:29):
It's about a four and a half hour flight from
here in the middle of the ocean.
Speaker 7 (37:32):
Yeah, right, so you sit there before.
Speaker 6 (37:34):
Yes, Yes, I've been there a couple of times. It
is a very intense, big, scary I think it's the
most dangerous wave on the planet. Yeah, it's a new
challenge for me, but I'm looking forward to it. And yeah,
I've spent a bit.
Speaker 7 (37:47):
Of time over there.
Speaker 6 (37:48):
I just got back on Saturday, had a week over there.
I just saw, like, you know, becoming more normal with
my surroundings and the ocean.
Speaker 10 (37:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (37:56):
Yeah, it's totally different to what I'm used to, you know,
like a repointvious it really shallow reef break.
Speaker 1 (38:02):
Does the big scary wave mean that there is more variability? Like,
does it open up the field a bit because of that?
Speaker 7 (38:08):
Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 6 (38:10):
Obviously you got the top top guys that have spent
a bit more time over there and had a few
competitions and stuff over there and got a bit more experienced.
But at the same time, you know, the ocean can
gift you that one way, and you could get the
best barrel or you know, get the best wave of
your life and beat the best guys in the world.
So I think, yeah, the opportunities are there, and that's
you know, exciting for me. And yeah, I believe I
(38:31):
can middle And you know, like I say, that ocean
is so unpredictable, so anything can happen, even sharks.
Speaker 7 (38:37):
Yeah there is a lot of sharks.
Speaker 1 (38:38):
Can you not bring that up?
Speaker 7 (38:40):
Well, No, it's just in the news a little bit
at the moment, isn't it.
Speaker 4 (38:45):
Anyway?
Speaker 1 (38:46):
Good luck?
Speaker 4 (38:47):
Thanks?
Speaker 7 (38:49):
I actually saw a few sharks over there when I
was over there, but you did.
Speaker 13 (38:51):
Yeah, so that does it bother you any of that?
Speaker 7 (38:54):
We're in their ocean, you know.
Speaker 6 (38:55):
I've seen a few in New Zealand and w Western
Australia as well, and I've seen them around. They're obviously
out there, but you try and turn a blind itism.
Speaker 4 (39:08):
Congratulations here today we'll be watching go well. Cheers.
Speaker 7 (39:11):
Appreciate it.
