Coast Breakfast brought to you by Bargain Chemist their policy

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Tony Jason Sam's feel Good Breakfast Can't Shut podcast.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Today on the show, we talked about the moment that
my children sold not just me out, but my husband
on live television.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
I was an assassination on live TV but we all
saw it.
Speaker 4 (00:21):
And Joseph Parker, how good is the man? Well? I
put him to the test on social media and he delivered.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
And safety experts have waited about things they would never do.
So the things to keep yourself safe, you need to
hear this. Give us TV show Chips Johl and Ponch
on the motorcycles.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Every time you say this, which is regularly because you're
big Chips fans, I'm like, Nah.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
You don't remember John and Punch.
Speaker 5 (00:47):
I know who you're talking about. I was never a watcher.
I feel like I've mister a big chunk of yeah culture.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
I don't think that's quite the same as the Lion King.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Innerage.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
But anyway, if your o the roads this weekend, one
look out for the police, of course, to keep us safe.
But two, are you going to be snacking? Two thousand people?
Are asked several questions abou hitting the road and a
lot of people are saying, Yep, definite, gonna have sticks
on the road trip.
Speaker 5 (01:15):
Are you losing it this morning?
Speaker 1 (01:17):
Watch up for the police, for the police police. Are
you thinking you're going to do something dodgy?
Speaker 4 (01:28):
As soon as Jay strives around?
Speaker 6 (01:29):
And a Vaults wagon with the one point one leader engine,
so just speeding is very little anyway, wif them that put.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
The back Do you know what I think the correct
snacks are to eating a car?
Speaker 5 (01:43):
I think anything with ginger in it.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Because it's riding in a car can be nausea and juicing,
particularly in the back seat.
Speaker 5 (01:50):
And you know that ginger is really settling.
Speaker 6 (01:52):
Remember that time we drove to the Coromandel and we
had to stop off a couple of times?
Speaker 5 (01:57):
Yeah we did? You were you were hungover?
Speaker 4 (01:59):
No, it was I just clearly had enough ginger.
Speaker 5 (02:06):
Something salty, something salty, I think.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Yeah, well, potato chips have been number one for a
long time and now there's been tied with something else.
Like for me, I've got some fruit. Don't judge me
fruit fruit. When I'm driving, Fruit's great, which great?
Speaker 1 (02:17):
And she of your crewise passed a berry farm on
your way. That's me every time I drive from tana Awkland.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
Those number six on the list. Apparently people are so
g apple chunk chu dropping on apple. Absolutely it's number
six on the list, though, So what do you reckon?
Has come in at number one or what should be
number one? When it comes to road trip snacks?
Speaker 4 (02:34):
Just as I fear myself, I wasn't hungover, I was
still drunk.
Speaker 5 (02:39):
There was so much fun driving.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Eight hundred double O four coastal flip that takes to
two six nine nine nine road trip snacks? What should
be top of the this in your opinion? Do you
roadripping across at at all in New Zealand this week?
He and just be careful on the roads. That goes
without saying. But also, what are you snacking on? Because
I've done a sou I have two thousand people and
the most important things to eat while you're driving around
some people saying grin all the bars and nuts and
seas trying to get a nice and healthy Can I.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Just say, I'm going to say this once and I'm
going to say it many times, but the best chip
in the world is the snacker changis okay, and if
you're looking for some stacks, don't bother with any other chip.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
Just get there and you say stay wake if you
were on the car, because they're very loud to eat.
Speaker 5 (03:16):
They're the best week. Our whole family like those chips.
Speaker 6 (03:20):
Road tripping and chips is just a greasy steering wheel
fingerprints all over the windows.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
So it's one of the most dangerous things you can
need to But there's another one of a lot of
people saying get chips.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
Number one, but something else has now sack changing will
take you down.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
Not the way I eat them, so more to you
has to be the number one road trip snack. Paula,
My family like the pie.
Speaker 7 (03:43):
I like to try the local pies.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
On the local pie or not in the pie the car.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
It could be a very yeah, flaky situation, so you
have to stopped to have them. But then after the pie,
do you need something sweet?
Speaker 5 (04:00):
Yeah, I get it.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
St pies you rock? And what normally do you go for?
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Cheese? I think it's my my favorite.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
Okay, yeah, I think the old mints and cheesell stak
and cheese is gonna be the goy's a key we
diet thing really isn't it.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Well, when you think about it, if you need lunch
on the rose, okay, what are you grabbing? That's not
like I sit down. That's why I'm saying. People revert
to the pie because it's pie of so she.
Speaker 5 (04:25):
Really, isn't it? What do you care? A little?
Speaker 3 (04:27):
A random sandwich, pull through a drive through and just
keep on going.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
I have a whole chicken once. Oh you did too, Costo.
Speaker 5 (04:33):
I love how you like. No, chips are too greasy
for the steering wheel. You're eating like chicken.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
Car after disgusting, think about disgusting, you know, Andy, What
are you reaching for on a road trip?
Speaker 4 (04:48):
Button?
Speaker 8 (04:49):
Well, I the kei gets a big killer on the road.
Speaker 9 (04:51):
So I think prunes because it forces you to find
a toilet.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
After all, it's true fruit fruit stiffy on the list?
Speaker 4 (04:59):
A really, prune is underrated.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
When you guys said fruit was on the list, prune
is not the first thing I.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Thought, all right, so this is the the seria case.
Your fruits on the list. Lollies are on the list
of the top five, but it goes number three. Biscuits.
People are reaching for the bickies.
Speaker 5 (05:13):
Oh, you have to pre pack those don't you.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Yeah, you do, yes, sir, unless you're cracking up in
the packet past the pack around. I don't know, but
tied for number one. You've got chips at number one
with chocolate. Yeah, chocolates also number one.
Speaker 6 (05:26):
And do you know what weird that you go to
weird chocolate when you're on a road trip, like a
fruit and nat or something.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
How nice for that?
Speaker 1 (05:31):
But you have the chocolate after the chips, because that's
what you need up to save, right, It's got to
be something sweet. If you're gonna get a biscuit, make
sure it's a squiggle top.
Speaker 5 (05:41):
What are you guys reaching for?
Speaker 6 (05:43):
No, I agree with you, weirdly, that is definitely a
road trip biscuit.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
Yeah, or a topee bob. We gotta eat those part
because the chocolate of your fingers, you know how it goes. Anyways,
twenty past six. If you are doing a road trip,
have a great one. Be safe. I remember you can
take close with you anywhere on iHeartRadio. By the way,
it's a free app you can download now. Hey, you
know how everyone's trying to make a bit of money
at the moment. Well, even the churches aren't exempt from this.
You know, they passed around the plate, put a little
donation and there one church is taking this to a
(06:07):
whole new level. So from our church desk this morning,
this is this is actually a crazy way to make money.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
You're on the church on the weather this morning street.
Speaker 5 (06:16):
I'm usually on the news and sports desk over here.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
Okay, all right, So there's a church in Mexico and
what they started to do to make some money. They're
selling plots of land in heaven. Ah, yes, one hundred
dollars a square meter, and people are buying it. People
are buying up parts of him.
Speaker 5 (06:32):
They are oh my, what church is this? What religion
are we to wall?
Speaker 3 (06:36):
I'm not sure, but it must be Christian. But the
pastor has come out and said, look, I spoke to God.
Speaker 5 (06:42):
Where is this.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
I need more than a square meda. I want some
I want some room up there.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
While you go to spake papers one hundred bucks square
meeting to buy some land in heaven.
Speaker 5 (06:49):
We want the call to acre section.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
And the past is he spoke to God and was
told it was okay for him to do this.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
I just don't think God would make you charge for heaven.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
I don't think God, mate, for past.
Speaker 5 (07:02):
I don't think I could have put a price on him.
Speaker 4 (07:04):
I'm doing the mass. I need a thousand squares, I
need one hundred grand.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
Yep, that's right.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
God, I'm going to have to start save him from
a retirement.
Speaker 5 (07:12):
You shouldn't we go to Italy.
Speaker 4 (07:13):
I'm going to have to call the trip off.
Speaker 5 (07:15):
You're about to go to heaven. You're about to be
eating pizza from past.
Speaker 4 (07:17):
Us spot in heaven.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Here.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
What do I want to do? Go to Italy or
have a spot in heaven.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
You've got one hundred bucks for a square meter. But again,
the past is spoke to God. God, see this is okay.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
If you if you don't make it to where us
your lot? If you don't make it to heaven.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
How's the past going to pay?
Speaker 8 (07:34):
God?
Speaker 4 (07:34):
This isn't all bad or not.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
Heal.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
The past keeps money. God said, it's okay for him
to keep the money.
Speaker 6 (07:39):
If I don't make it to heaven, I'm going to
be doing some pretty long term land banking in heaven.
Speaker 5 (07:45):
Get some capital game exactly.
Speaker 6 (07:48):
You see the news on Matthew McConaughey this week that Hollywood,
he feels, has turned their back on him just because
he took a break from Hollywood.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
And now he says he's missing on rolls because take
different roles.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
You know what he did in the two two years
when he had his break, He thought about becoming a
teacher or a wildlife guide.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
Okay, then maybe you got a rested for playing the
Bong goes nude while he was high on marijuanda.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
Remember that.
Speaker 6 (08:10):
Look if it all falls down, he's still got his journaling.
Speaker 10 (08:14):
All right, all right, all.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
Right, Yes, indeed you are the author of your story,
of your journal.
Speaker 4 (08:25):
In this journal, you will get to.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
Know better, to know, actually know not what Sam you
normally go first. But why don't you go what? We
give you the last word today because it's you last
day before you go on holiday.
Speaker 5 (08:36):
You're not going to hear that for over a month.
Speaker 6 (08:38):
I know it's a long time to be away.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
You might never return, you might go to fall in
love with the sun.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
Hold on high journal. Even though it's been a shorter week,
I've still found myself learning something every day and I
love it. I've learned that our two boys needed to
wear something sparkly to school for the Mathadiki celebrations today,
and I learned that, yes, today. I also learned that
our boys don't have any sparkly things till I learned
that look sharp sells sparkly things, and kids can be
to school if you need to know that. I also
learned that kids can talk during an entire movie and
(09:10):
then pause it so they can race to the toilet
back because I don' would have miss anything, but they
still talk during the movie. I also learned that they're
way more across matadiki than I ever was at their age.
But ever since I was their age, I've been taught
the value of kaititahi to eat together. And this weekend
we'll all do that all back on the past. We'll
celebrate our present and our phone ungu tongue, which is
relationships and where we are right now. We'll get excited
(09:30):
about the future, knowing some of our best days are
yet to come, and we'll do it all together as far.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
No.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
But speaking of family, I only just learned that Sam
is going to Europe with his family for a big holiday.
Speaker 6 (09:39):
Do you know that I haven't heard a thing about it.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
I've also learned the thought of him not being here
makes me sad, and I've said it before, and I'll
say it again. He's like my brother from another mother,
a special little brother who needs help with us reading
and time management, but nonetheless a brother all the same.
And I'm really going to miss it?
Speaker 5 (09:55):
Are you really going to miss him? After he just
burped into the microfore that was a.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
Just on that jays if you are going to the movies,
Inside out too is out?
Speaker 6 (10:06):
And it looked for no times for ads during our
journals term it's not an ad journal.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
Isn't it amazing how something so insignificant can be so
annoying when it's not there. Like our printer that suddenly
stopped working after precisely two years and one month this week. Yes,
that's right, conveniently just outside the two year warranty. I
didn't even think I needed my printer that much until
it stopped working. Then there was the theater newsletter, the
form for the muse and the form for the bank,
(10:34):
and I just wanted my damn printed at work. So
I did what any self respecting person on a Sunday
would do. I asked Instagram which was the best printer.
I drove to nol Leaving, bought a new one with
my true Awards card, took it home and now the
paper won't load. And before you say, why didn't you
just print it at work, I have worked at enzied
Me for seven and a half years and have never
(10:56):
consistently worked out how to activate the printer.
Speaker 5 (10:59):
I am firm at the give up stage.
Speaker 1 (11:01):
Thank god, I have a personal printer at work, and
that's Chasing.
Speaker 4 (11:05):
He's our printing man, is very good at it. There general,
as a.
Speaker 6 (11:09):
Team, we work very intimately together and as much as
I love Tony and Jays, sometimes everybody needs.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
A little time away.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
To see.
Speaker 5 (11:22):
From Meech singer team a couple more lines, we'll still go.
NA love is.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
Maybe a little step too far.
Speaker 5 (11:33):
Far away from me.
Speaker 6 (11:38):
Further away, I'm leaving on a jet plane to Ashley
with my family for a month.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
My parents have always wanted to do this.
Speaker 6 (11:43):
It's always been something my mum dreamt of doing, the
whole family in Italy.
Speaker 4 (11:46):
Because remember I'm Italian.
Speaker 6 (11:48):
You might recall I did a TV show DNA Detectors
where they trace my ancestry and I am zero point
four percent Sardinian.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
So that's not an excuse. I don't know what is
and this is probably the last chance.
Speaker 6 (11:59):
Dad is older and more frail, He's worked through the
prostate cancer, but the drugs to keep it at bay
are pretty hard on him. And so it was the
last forty years of roofing my parents both endured that
has enabled the stream to become a reality, and the
forty years before that for my grandfather, Lenn Wallace, who
was a welder and a fabricator. Both generations have worked
for every dollar, and as I've said, their inheritance and
(12:21):
my parents are paying the way for this trip. So
to sum it up, it's probably more than a trip
of a lifetime. It's the trip of three lifetimes. So
some would call it privilege, some would call it lucky.
But I've always found that luck is so often proceeded
with good decisions over a long period of time, in
this case, nearly a century of good decisions. Now I
know I'm going to leave a giant hole in coast Breakfast.
(12:42):
There will be far less text complaints about my reading
of the chasers questions and far less chance of the
more esteemed bsa complaint. But I know the team will
step up while I'm away, So ARIBADICI if you need me,
I'll be eating bucket loads of barrata, loving my wife,
looking my kids in the eye, swapping stories with my
dancing with my mom, and arguing with my sister because
(13:03):
that's what good families do.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
Thank you, Sam, Please how much you guys?
Speaker 3 (13:16):
We're going to miss you too.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
It's an amazing time. I'm so jealous. I think you're
going to have the best.
Speaker 4 (13:21):
That's the sad thing.
Speaker 6 (13:22):
I wish you go to Comiday for each other.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
Your daily feel good breakfast catch up podcast with Coasts
Tony Jason, Sam.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
You haven't checked a lotto ticket. You might want to
do that because seventeen people won twelve grand last night.
That's not bad but an injection for the long weekend.
But one person has won a million dollars in the
last few hours, So check those tickets just in case.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
I'd be a good morning, wouldn't it for the rest
of us if we just plot trudge alone with our life.
Speaker 5 (13:52):
I don't even have a ticket, No neither did I.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
But it is a long weekend, and after this long weekend,
there is one weekend then the school holidays, and a
lot of people go away. So I thought this would
be a good time to remind you what you should
be doing with your house when you go away and Sam,
you should be listening to you're going tonight and expert, well,
these are things that home security experts would never do
when they leave their own house.
Speaker 5 (14:16):
So you know this is right.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
And I did give the first reason earlier and the
five o'clock hour this morning. You don't post in real
time the location of where you are on social media.
Speaker 4 (14:27):
Well that's impossible, Italy.
Speaker 6 (14:29):
I have to showcase the trip, showcase when you get back, baby, No, no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
So don't let the world know your every move because
then they know exactly where you are when you're getting
home and when you're not in the house.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
You've also got someone in the house in your house,
follow right, Yeah, Sarah's brother.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
He's a he's a lumber jet. You should see him.
He's a big ginger. He's six foot five. And if
you want to rob my house, good luck, good luck.
Speaker 5 (14:53):
I don't know what you felt the need to say
he was ginger, but anyway.
Speaker 6 (14:57):
Six five and just a little angry in the normal.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
Okay, do not forget to lock your windows and doors
and turn on your alarm system. Apparently it's shocking how
many people forget to lock their door.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
I don't think you get insurance if they find it
you didn't lock your house, well, your alarm was on,
you don't get insurance.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
So don't don't be slack in that department. Don't take
the same route every time you leave your home. Don't
make it a predictable routine because people will know what
like when you're going for an extended period of time.
If you just do the same thing all the time,
it allows them to observe you.
Speaker 5 (15:33):
Okay, yeah, so mix it up.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
I'm out the window or something.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
I think I would do predicable.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
I would drive down the end of my street and
then just drive back and go and expect that did you.
Don't leave your tools and ladders out. That's a really
easy steal for thieves. Okay, outdoor things are stealable as well.
Do not go were going away Leat's make it look
(16:01):
like we're here, and put the porch light on when
you normally don't have your porch light on all day.
Speaker 5 (16:08):
Cowtale sign you're just trying to fake them out. Don't
let the mail and packages pile up.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
Make sure someone is collecting your mail for you, and
also make sure someone is malenulauns so it doesn't look
like oh, they're so overgrown they'ven't been here for a while.
And do not hide the key if you've got a
key under the mat or a flower pot, because they
are the two most obvious places.
Speaker 4 (16:30):
Yeah, well it is under the mat.
Speaker 6 (16:31):
But as I say, good luck with a gingerns, no turfy.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
So this weekend with Matadiki coming up, maybe doing a
road trip, maybe doing a lot of stuff around the house.
Or if you've got an iHeartRadio right now, you can
make a playlist to do whatever you want to be doing.
It could be a midwinded playist that Tony's put together
for us. I love that lisp yep.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
I've put together a Christmas playlist, and I love the
fact there is one for people that are wanting to
do a Christmas feast, but for the others that aren't.
Speaker 5 (16:59):
You think I've all gone mad.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
None.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
But you've also got the every night It's good Night
in It's a great little playlist as well. I've got
love songs and relaxing eighties, one hundred disco hits. Is
there's another playlist on there on my Heart Radio?
Speaker 4 (17:08):
What happened to my playlist? I did an exercise playlist.
I've never heard from the Boss one hundred songs in me.
Speaker 5 (17:13):
He didn't like it. It was all heavy metal banging.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
I put together a road trip one for this long weekend.
Where's that gone?
Speaker 1 (17:22):
Oh guys, I'm really sorry, but my Christmas one made
it through.
Speaker 3 (17:26):
Anyway. My Heart radio's free up. You can download now
and make your own playlist just there. And as I said,
of course, then as you know, Marthadiki starts this evening.
Of course, long weekend for a lot of people. So
where do you look? What are you looking for? Well
from the Stardimere's an astronomer to call Josh Aldaki and
he joins us. Now, koday, Josh, we're about to be
supposed to look in the sky and win.
Speaker 8 (17:44):
Yeah, So if anyone wants today, you've basically got like
an hour window early in the morning, from about six
to seven. That's going to be the easiest place. And
that's going to be looking east. And if you don't
know where Easter is, you've got to look towards the
rising sun.
Speaker 6 (17:58):
Okay, So tell us more about the cluster stars, because
I mean, historically, isn't it pladies and sabaru clusters and
obviously Alcoholoure calls it Martiniki.
Speaker 8 (18:08):
Yeah, so there's there's many names whether this around the world.
It's yeah, Suber in Japan, the Plades or the Seven
Sisters is the Greek name. But yeah, for Mali, Maturiki
is part of a bigger time keeping just some here
in the southern hemisphere. It's marking kind of the technically
the end of winter. It usually happens around the solstice,
so from today the days are slowly getting longer. It's
(18:28):
the changing of the seasons. And yeah, it's it's a
different way for us to keep time instead of just
using Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and I Goregorian calendar.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
Yeah, and Josh, I read that there are over five
hundred stars in the Martaiki cluster, but we can only see.
Speaker 5 (18:41):
A few of them. How many are we expecting to see?
Speaker 8 (18:44):
Yeah, I mean I've I personally, I've got really good eyes,
I've got a good vision, and I can say about
nine the stars and yeah, mostly and Alta, we acknowledge
the nine stars of Matadiki. But you know, there are differences.
Some say seven, some say twelve. Even as to how
many you can see, you know, it really depends on
where you are. You're viewing location and things like light pollution.
So you know here in Auckland, for example, it's a
(19:06):
lot harder to see.
Speaker 6 (19:07):
With all the light.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
Yeah, a real good test of your vision. Now, now
you've set the bar.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
So looking towards east and you've got an hour long
window and so so what time of the day is that?
Speaker 4 (19:17):
What was that?
Speaker 3 (19:18):
Sorry, so you said you've got an our window and
you're supposed to look east. So what sort of times
are we supposed to be looking out that way?
Speaker 8 (19:25):
From about six until the sun's going to wash out
the stars? So six to seven that our window is
going to be the best bet. Maybe closer to seven
twenty at the latest. But yeah, of course the sun's
coming out, so that, yeah, wash out all the stars.
Speaker 6 (19:39):
So what makes it relevant in terms of being visual?
Is it does it normally not there in the night
sky or is it just the ability to see it?
Speaker 8 (19:47):
It's funnily enough, it's actually visible for eleven months of
the year, so it's somewhere in our skies for most
most of the year. For example, in the summer, it's
in the sky in the evening, so you can see
it nice and high. It's kind of right in front
of us. But when we see it rare appear in
the morning, it's it's basically telling us the seasons are
changing of cluster.
Speaker 6 (20:09):
So it's been hidden by the earth and then all
of a sudden as it reappears. That's that's significance.
Speaker 8 (20:15):
Yeah, it's one of the part it's within a zodiac consolation,
so those are the twelve that get hidden once a
month every year, and this was within Taurus. So once
it reappears, we know that, Yeah, our cycles are changing.
We're just orbited the sun once.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
Lovely celebration of the Marty New Year as well, and
if you're a grandparent of appearance at this time, you
will know Martadiqi is happening because I love that all
our schools are celebrating.
Speaker 8 (20:38):
I know.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
So my girls, the kapa Haka, they've already they've done
a hickoy, They've gone to a big Martadiqi Kapahaka festival.
Speaker 5 (20:44):
It's so cool.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
We've got to share food at school today and it's
got to be something sparkling or something that makes you
feel like a star. How cool is that? A So
that's what you're looking for. That's the time you're looking for.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
Via goat Now, this is something I haven't talked about
on radio yet, and I'm surprised actually, because it was
something really exciting that happened for our family. And it
goes back right to February when my daughter's both auditioned
for Matilda and the musical. It's the big musical that's
hitting Auckland. It's actually just been in Parmeston, North and
before that it was in totung Us, so it's traveling
around the country and there are about one hundred and
(21:16):
forty kids and they auditioned and we knew that it
was going to be really, really tough to get in,
and they keep keep getting callbacks and callbacks, and honestly,
I didn't cope through that period and all some of
they had to learn lines and multiple songs and dialogue
and it was pretty girling.
Speaker 6 (21:31):
And it's not a kid's production. This is the real tale,
kind of Altar center kind of production.
Speaker 5 (21:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
G and T Productions and Encore are putting it on
the same company that put on Music Man, the same
company that put on Lamers at Arb here in Auckland. Anyway,
To cut a long story short, my eldest daughter, Juliet,
is one of the three Matilda's which is just exciting
moment for all of us slash terrifying because she has
(21:56):
a lot to learn in a very short space of time.
My youngest daughter, Mackenzie also got the role one of
the two roles of Amanda Thrip, who gets twirled around
by her pigtails by Agatha Treunchball.
Speaker 5 (22:08):
So you can imagine our family were in.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
Just the state of Matilda and the publicity started this
week and one of the things they got to do
was go on the AM show, The Breakfast Show with
Melissa Changreen and Lord Lloyd Burr.
Speaker 5 (22:21):
Now, as a mum, I'm thinking, whoa, this is live TV.
What are they going to say.
Speaker 3 (22:26):
I'm glad you brought that up because Sam and I
said and we watched this right and we were shocked
at the assassination. We didn't see this a man there,
shots fired and someone went down. Have a listeners, unfair attack. Mackenzie.
Speaker 10 (22:37):
I know that you're quite a sporty spice as well,
so it's not just theater. What kind of sports are
you involved in?
Speaker 11 (22:43):
Netble, hockey, tennis, rugby, swimming. I'm pretty sure that you're.
Speaker 5 (22:51):
A busy mum.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
Then Tony, yeah, it is pretty busy, Juliet.
Speaker 10 (22:55):
What is Mum like in the audience at these shows?
Is she kind of the emotional mom? Does she cry?
Is she the cheering from the sidelines?
Speaker 1 (23:03):
Mum?
Speaker 11 (23:03):
She likes to come to like every show that we do.
She doesn't want the mess any of them. But she's
probably more of a cheering mom, not a crying man.
I think Dad would more likely be the one who
would cry.
Speaker 5 (23:18):
It's definitely fear.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
Your husband met a beautiful man, had no defense bang
shot on live TV.
Speaker 5 (23:24):
Do you know what?
Speaker 1 (23:25):
He was there because we had to transport them in
the morning, and he was nodding as head going.
Speaker 5 (23:29):
That is absolutely fair and true.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
Is definitely that really paints me is the hardass of
the family. I promise I'm more confined than the theory
and making sure the steps are right. I didn't think
you were going to say that, though, I thought you
were going to talk about the assassination. It wasn't just
my husband, it was in the firing line. I was too.
I sweat it all summer trying to learn their dance too.
Speaker 4 (23:49):
How was she to?
Speaker 5 (23:50):
It was she and he goes she wasn't.
Speaker 4 (23:52):
As good as me.
Speaker 11 (23:53):
But fear for her age.
Speaker 5 (24:00):
Good from my a.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
That's fair.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
I'll have you know that there are a mini over
forty year olds. Well I assume there are in this
production because there are adults obviously playing trunch Ball and
Miss Honey.
Speaker 3 (24:12):
And we want to see the fill the winner is
it again?
Speaker 1 (24:18):
So it's in the September October school Holidays in Auckland
at the Bruce Mason Center, And you can get tickets
via ticket Master. If you want to know specifically which
shows Juliet's.
Speaker 5 (24:27):
Playing Matilda, I can text you back and let you know.
Speaker 3 (24:31):
The chasers on coast Okay, right now though, we needed
to call this number eight hundred double low four Coast
And if you've never rung us before, it goes like this,
eight hundred zero zero four two six two. So to
for all the dice who's playing the chaser today in
the studio.
Speaker 5 (24:47):
And it's always good to take us on. I think
just before a long weekend we were at the low Ebb.
It's a busy, busy time. Sam's blustered with packing.
Speaker 3 (24:58):
It's a good time to take her on the singing
dance routine.
Speaker 4 (25:03):
It's not bad for age.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
Give us a call now double o fore Coast just
be called the team good Luck the Chasers on Coast.
Speaker 12 (25:14):
Hi.
Speaker 9 (25:14):
I'm Julie and I'm from Palmist, North and I'm looking
forward to taking on the theater mom tiny and being
a theater mom myself. And if we win today, I'm
going to invest it in sum Jin.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
And it turns out I like and theater. And what
theater are you involved in?
Speaker 5 (25:34):
Julie.
Speaker 9 (25:37):
Our boys were involved in a lot of theater at school.
But my husband's currently got the role of Deaddy Warbucks
and any the musical.
Speaker 13 (25:45):
Oh wow.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
You know, I grew up in Hastings and weased ship
travel down to Manolo because you guys got an amazing
theater society down there, an.
Speaker 9 (25:52):
We totally do Center Point as well, which is just
then least.
Speaker 1 (25:57):
And can I just say the synergies don't end there,
because you'll have My daughter is about to play Molly
the Orphan in Annie on Saturday for Encore Theater Collectors.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
What is the matrix right now? All right? But here's
the thing.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
You guys are going from best friends to fierce enemies frenemies.
Speaker 4 (26:16):
Line and I'm calling it a path for today, Julie.
Speaker 9 (26:19):
Oh okay, it's.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
Pretty straightforward for your thing.
Speaker 6 (26:22):
You'll be okay with this, you know, if you if
you can snatch this fifth question, I guarantee your win.
Speaker 12 (26:28):
Really okay?
Speaker 3 (26:29):
That confident? Okay, Julie. So thirty seconds on the clock.
Sam's going to ask you some questions with teke your
first answer only if you want it you can pars.
We come up to those if we have time. Are
you ready? Ready? All right? Your time starts now?
Speaker 4 (26:41):
What color is the cookie monster? Yes? What is the
currency of England? Yes?
Speaker 6 (26:49):
What's the name of the sport played on ice with
brooms and stones?
Speaker 3 (26:53):
Perlo?
Speaker 10 (26:54):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (26:54):
Mark Ariki? Mark's the start of what.
Speaker 1 (26:58):
New year?
Speaker 4 (26:58):
Yes?
Speaker 6 (26:59):
Who is the god of music and Greek mythology?
Speaker 3 (27:04):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (27:06):
The god of music? God of music.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
So Sam's right, it is a straightforward four that might
just been up because if Tony trips up and can't
match you, strip man, that's it. And the investment in
Gin is on.
Speaker 6 (27:21):
Indeed, a four, just a very simple mistake here is
going to cost you.
Speaker 5 (27:28):
Gosh, that's a great school.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
I don't think anything least from the Gin drinking theater loving.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
Momkay, your time starts now?
Speaker 4 (27:37):
What color is the cookie monster?
Speaker 1 (27:39):
Blue?
Speaker 9 (27:40):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (27:40):
What's the currency of England pounds. Yes, what's the name
of the sport played on ice with brooms and stones?
Speaker 5 (27:47):
Curling?
Speaker 4 (27:47):
Yes, Martha Ricky marks the start of what.
Speaker 5 (27:50):
The Martin New Year?
Speaker 8 (27:52):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (27:55):
Five, I bet I won't be a five. None of
you two got a five?
Speaker 4 (27:59):
Is the god of music in Greek mythology.
Speaker 5 (28:01):
Oh that'd be Haydes.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
Not bad though well played. After the long weekend, we
come back on Monday with five hundred dollars.
Speaker 5 (28:11):
I feel bad for Julie. She got a solid four
and you.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
Could have thrown it well, I couldn't you have that?
Speaker 1 (28:16):
You feel I nearly just see it.
Speaker 6 (28:24):
And you know it.
Speaker 5 (28:26):
Julie wouldn't want me to just give her an easy.
Speaker 3 (28:27):
Oh no way, not Julie. No, not how Julie plays.
Thank you Julie, so again Monday five hundred bucks.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
Thanks for listening to the Feel Good Breakfast catch Up
podcast with Coasts, Tony Street, Jace Reeves and Sam Wallas.
Speaker 3 (28:41):
You're in your fifties and you'd be married a while,
and you're looking across at your partner you think, am
I still crazy for this person? Do you know what
you should be doing? And I don't know if you
should have not to be honest, but it's in the
paper at the moment couples in their fifties are using
ecstasy yes m D M A and saying it's saving
their marriages.
Speaker 5 (28:55):
Why is it just couples in their fifties.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
It's like that's that's the age group of people who
are taking to see a parent. And this is in
New Zealand and the same is the best thing we've
ever done.
Speaker 4 (29:03):
Really, would you try thatty Well? And it just starts
around the house.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
Got ten years before I fit into the age group. Shit, Sam,
So I'll just wait and see he's loved See where
were at?
Speaker 4 (29:13):
Anyway? How good a dude is Joseph Parker. Now we
caught up from recently and as we were saying, just.
Speaker 6 (29:19):
Before seven thousand calories, he's never looked better. He's four
fights away from the Unified World Champion of all things
go to plan.
Speaker 4 (29:27):
And I was at the barbershop yesterday. Can you tell, oh,
you're good?
Speaker 9 (29:31):
Great?
Speaker 5 (29:31):
What did we say to you this morning? And I
will think it's the.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
First thing, first thing we all?
Speaker 4 (29:35):
It was very kind.
Speaker 6 (29:36):
Yeah, And I was sitting next to a lad called
Cory and he had out of a story, and you
do that at the barb, but don't you You sit
back and you chat to people and you kind of
find out what's happening in their world. And young Corey
twenty five years old, single dad of a little, beautiful
four year old boy, and he was beautifully dressing. You
could see he was doing a great job, but you
could see he was tired and he was a bit frustrated.
(29:56):
So his partner had left him and left him with
the little four year old boy and he raised on
his own. Yeah, she'd custody. Situation didn't seem way. And
we were talking about his situation.
Speaker 4 (30:08):
He said it was really hard.
Speaker 6 (30:09):
He'd had to give up his construction job, so he
was a full time dad working from home, and he
was pretty frustrated, and he was frustrated about his relationship situation.
Speaker 4 (30:17):
He said he was pretty angry. He tolmy, he is
feeling pretty angry about that.
Speaker 6 (30:22):
And he talked about the fact that.
Speaker 4 (30:25):
He realized that I was in radio and television and.
Speaker 6 (30:28):
He said, oh, do you who do you get to meet?
He said, I'd love to meet Joseph Parker. And I said,
it's really funny, he said that because we just bumped
into the other day and I showed him the photo
and he just about felt as she was like, man,
that is so cool.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
I would love to meet him.
Speaker 6 (30:40):
He said, I really want to get into boxing because
I feel like it's the when I'm feeling this frustrated.
Speaker 4 (30:45):
I need a channel it somehow, an outlet and he's
an outlet. Yeah, so what did I do? I got
my phone out.
Speaker 6 (30:51):
Jay, and I just flicked Hi, my message Joseph Parker
on Instagram and and I just said, I just explained
the situation, said I met this guy, said he feel frustrated,
he loves box, he wants to channel it, and two
things can happen in this situation.
Speaker 4 (31:04):
You don't hear back.
Speaker 6 (31:05):
Literally, while I was sitting there, he pings back and
this is this is all he says. I'll take a
hit from here, mate. Thanks heats for the heads up.
I've just messaged Corey because I've seen through chorus just
a wonderful heart woman situation.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
We need to follow the story. I would love to
know how the meeting goes.
Speaker 4 (31:25):
Yeah, me too.
Speaker 5 (31:26):
With Corey just falling off his chair at the barber
he couldn't.
Speaker 6 (31:30):
He went on read and he just couldn't contain beautiful
moment of happiness in a day of struggle, you know.
Speaker 1 (31:37):
Yeah, But well done to you, Sam, because you were
the facilitator. Yeah, And that is one of the great
things about this job is the connections we have to
some of these high profile people.
Speaker 5 (31:47):
So well done for using an hour to.
Speaker 4 (31:49):
Yeah, and that's it.
Speaker 6 (31:49):
And I really feel like just a little meeting like
that could really change the outcomes for Corey and his beautiful.
Speaker 3 (31:54):

Speaker 1 (35:08):
Here we are this Thursday on the brink of a
public holiday and the band we have to thank for
that is doctor Rangi Madamour for getting us Martadiki. It's
so great to have you on the show this morning.
Speaker 7 (35:21):
Thank you so much, Tony.
Speaker 3 (35:22):
Lovely to be with you guys.
Speaker 1 (35:23):
Yeah, it was a pleasure to be with you when
you were awarded New Zealander of the Year as well.
What does this public holiday this weekend mean for you?
Speaker 7 (35:32):
I really am proud of the way that New Zealanders
right across the board are celebrating mantati qui.
Speaker 3 (35:38):
You know it's yes, it's.
Speaker 7 (35:41):
From the milder culture, but it's also connected to our environment.
It's something that's about unity and coming together to feast
together and celebrate who we are now and who we
want to be. And I think the way that everyone's
just really connected to it and it's becoming part of
our national identity.
Speaker 3 (35:58):
I'm so proud of it.
Speaker 4 (35:59):
Yes, I totally agree.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
So wonderful to see.
Speaker 4 (36:01):
How are you celebrating it this year?
Speaker 7 (36:03):
So we've got the national broadcast which is broadcast on
television and in the morning, so it happens every year,
and this is the third year. Up here at the moment,
I'm looking across Lake Wanaka from from Treble Cone ski Field.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
Broadcast.
Speaker 7 (36:23):
There is now the sun is racing. We live in
the most beautiful country in the world. And for everyone
to be able to come in and on television if
they want to and watch the traditional ceremony and celebrate,
and yeah, that's where I'll be.
Speaker 3 (36:37):
And it's wonderful to be here too. I love that
and you must be loving this too. We were saying
before that at school, our kids are doing things like
at our kids school today, they're doing wearing sparkly things
or anything that makes you feel like a star. And
the al brig is sheer played there sitting around having
a kite together today, So that must warm the cockles
of your heart when you see that happening across the
country too.
Speaker 1 (36:51):
Right.
Speaker 3 (36:53):
It does.
Speaker 7 (36:53):
It does because the principles are unit of Monte deiquiare universal.
Speaker 11 (36:56):
You know.
Speaker 7 (36:57):
It's about remembering our loved ones who have passed. It's
about celebrating who we are, all the good things that
make us who we are, and looking to the future,
you know, to see who we want to be and
want our children to being. I see the kids, they're
going home and telling their parents about Montoniqui and it's
just getting embraced and yeah, I'm so so proud of
(37:17):
how we've we've done this.
Speaker 3 (37:18):
Well, thank you again very much for we're hard work
going into this, all the night that went into It's amazing.
Speaker 4 (37:22):
A public holiday.
