Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, all right, all right, Yes, indeed, you are
the author of your story, of your journal. In this journal,
you will get to know yourself better, and who better
to get to.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Know You may have heard of move It Mama. The founder,
Lisa Fong from christ Church Just a Mum, wanted to
help other moms to get back in shape after having kids.
While the platform exploded, and now she inspires thousands of
women every week, my wife included. She's the mother of
four young boys, Rico, Louis, Carlos and Tay, and is
married to a man called Dan.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Dan.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Lisa's husband recently went to hospital for what he thought
was whiplash from a surfing accident, but the diagnosis was
much worse, a real form of leukemia. The treatment has
been brutal. It's ravaged Dan's body, but he battles on
and just recently some hope some positive signs that the
treatment is taking hold. Lisa has been a warrior, fighting
for her husband and to find strength for her boys.
Dan used to take her rugby mad Boys for training

(00:57):
every week. It was his thing, and on social media
she says she finds that filling that void particularly triggering.
So do you know who stepped up to help. On
hearing of the battle this Chroshutch family was facing. Richie Muwanga,
the boy's hero, and his wife did a five hour
round trip to show up for her kids, to support
a family he has never met because he heard their story.

(01:19):
It's if that's not the mark of a good man,
I don't know what is. And Lisa and Dan Fong
and to the boys, Rico, Louis, Carlos and Tey, we
are right behind you.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Yeah, hugely.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
Hear that story to her and I just thought, Mwanga,
you're such a good man.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
What a good guy. Yeah, I totally agree.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Hi, journal something happily a couple of days ago that
stopped me in my tracks and then made my day.
It was the simplest of things, but the most generous
of gifts. It was a busy afternoon in a random supermarket.
We've all been there. I've done the arter school peckups,
and now's in that hustle zone between sorting dinner and
getting the kids their sports practices and arts classes. The
juggle is real at that time of the day. So
as I was darting away from the self check out machine,
a voice cloaked in a wonderful Scottish accident, said Jason,

(01:56):
as if it was a question. I turned to see
a man in a T shirt and a base cap
growcries in his arm a toddler in the trolley seat,
and he too looked like he was on a mission,
but he had his hand out stretched to shake mine.
He introduced himself as David and simply said, I listened
to you guys every morning. You make my day. And
he went on to explain that he used to listen
to Coast when he was in the Army and still
does to this day. So I thanked him for putting

(02:17):
up with us, and he laughed and he replied, well,
someone has.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
To be the map.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
But it didn't have to He absolutely did not have
to reach out and say hi. He was busy, he
was hustling, but he took that chance to say hello,
and it made my day. And we all have that
power to do what David did. Tell a random stranger
that you like something about them, their smile, the color
they're wearing, if they were in glasses, tell them they
suit them, find something anything that's not creepy for you.
It might only take a second or two, but that
one act of kindness can change someone's entire day, be

(02:43):
the reason someone smiles because that's always worth it.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
Yeah, that's lovely. So he's heading on you, but that's fine,
dear journal. So the netball season is coming to a
close this week right across the country, and I've been
reflecting on the past six years that I've been coaching.
I've loved it, every minute of it, but I have
had a regular comment said to me year after year
from various randoms that generally don't know anything about the sport,

(03:07):
and that is WHOA, you're so hard out or you
take your coaching really seriously. And my answer to that
is yes, yes I do, and I make no apology
for it, because this is what taking seriously looks like
to me. It means actually committing and turning up to
training so I can help the young athletes develop and
be a good example of dedication. It means seeking out
extra tournaments so everyone gets more game time and feels

(03:29):
confident when the season starts. It means taking extra players
from school to the games every week because I work
in the mornings and lots of parents can't get off
work and time, but can meet us straight at the game.
It means ours working out positions so every player can
flourish and have the best chance of success. It means
making the team culture an environment addictive so everyone wants

(03:50):
to sign up the following year and todate, I've had
no dropouts. And mostly it means striking a balance between
focus and fun. And ironically, most of our funnest moments
have come because we have been focused and have really
enjoyed the ride. So yes, I take it seriously and
that ain't gonna change. So if you're a serious George
like me, you won that.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
I love that.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Nice.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
