Speaker 1 (00:12):
Today on the show, we announced our New York Big
Spender winner.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
Hehr Neaghme is Theresa.
Speaker 4 (00:16):
You have to hear her backstory.
Speaker 5 (00:36):
You know, Sex in the City, amazing TV series, a
couple of movies out of this as well. Samantha was
notorious for doing it, Carrie did it a few times too,
And apparently forty percent of women say they do this
to look good for men knowing of this.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
Is it something to do with fashion?
Speaker 4 (00:51):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (00:51):
Oh okay, I'm going to.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Have a wild guest here and say they buy a
new dress for a specific date.
Speaker 5 (00:58):
So what do you think?
Speaker 3 (00:59):
Yeah, it's not that okay.
Speaker 5 (01:02):
All right, I want to see how popular this is
in New Zealand. First, I did see I anyone get
this right? Forty percent of women say they do this
to look good for men.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
It's nearly half of us, So that's exactly right.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
Do you think I've done it?
Speaker 5 (01:14):
I think you do it more for yourself, and I
think maybe they might be a part of it. You
want to do it for the other, good for man,
your husband? Okay maybe maybe? So what is text your
aunts to the two six nine nine or call us?
On our eight hundred double oh forecast on sex in
the City, Samantha was notorious for doing it. Carrie did
it a few times as well. But apparently forty percent
of women everywhere say they do this to look good
(01:34):
for a man.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
Oh, Erica, what do you think it is?
Speaker 6 (01:38):
I think it's to lose weight.
Speaker 5 (01:41):
Lose weight to look good for a man. That's a
good Yes, absolutely, no, it's not. It's not that, and
I have a lot of to do it for the end,
I know, but you know.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
How it can be good guess. But okay, so it's
not that. Paula, what do you think it is?
Speaker 5 (01:56):
Well?
Speaker 7 (01:56):
I thought as soon as though who you ask it again?
Speaker 5 (01:59):
I thought, you don't think it's makeup?
Speaker 3 (02:02):
And it wasn't. It wasn't buying a new dree either.
Speaker 5 (02:05):
No, no, not not Eve of those pull the note. No,
we'll go one more than del What do you think
it is?
Speaker 8 (02:10):
Morning?
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Go hello?
Speaker 5 (02:14):
Brollus umbrellas to impress them in.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Oh, I don't know if that would impress my husband.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
You might go away.
Speaker 5 (02:25):
There's a scandless tell it's not then either. No, a
lot of teas coming through on two six nine, one
puck of their lips. No. Is it wearing high heels? Yes,
a high heels to impress them in h have you
done that?
Speaker 1 (02:42):
I wear high heels like I'll be wearing them today
I'm going to a function. But I don't usually make
it to impress the men. Usually I do it just
to increase my height and make my legs look longer.
Speaker 5 (02:51):
That's what I thought for myself, you know, rightly. So
you don't have to do anything to impress a man.
Speaker 4 (02:57):
Not do it for you.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
And if you kind of average to below average height,
you're kind of doing it so your pants don't drag.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Or your christ doesn't drag as well. There are many options, but.
Speaker 5 (03:07):
This is it. But do it for a man. I
don't know, but you know a lot of the women
like Carrie did it a few times with mister Big,
and Samanth was always doing it.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
I feel like carry was in the heels the whole time.
Speaker 5 (03:15):
Anyway, I think so exactly. All right, then, and a
couple a couple of seconds from now, we're going to
try and play a game, and we actually have Toe
that's going to join us for this game. Now are
you there? Toe?
Speaker 8 (03:25):
I am he nail.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
The Knight is the competition and this is to get
quite a luxury prize.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
With our new Auckland FC football team.
Speaker 5 (03:35):
So basically how this works says you got to predict. Okay,
it's going to either Tony or me having a shot
at goal against Joe Knowles, the nineteen year old goalkeeper
from Orkan FC, who's going to take the shot? And
how do you think it's going to go?
Speaker 6 (03:47):
Well, I predicted Jason do take the shot and I'm
sorry but I.
Speaker 8 (03:51):
Did miss it.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Yeah, do you know what most people have predicted we
will miss? And you know we are playing one of
Australasia's best goalies, so you know.
Speaker 5 (04:01):

say from.
Speaker 7 (04:37):
Joe the Great say it was a bit high a
Jodan's David.
Speaker 8 (04:41):
Then it was hitting with glass at the back.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
Ey.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
That means you predicted, right, Jason.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Did, miss Yay, I'm sorry, let's not celebrate too hard.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
Double ed sword here.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
That you were in the drawer to win that fantastic
prize's awesome, Thank you very.
Speaker 5 (04:59):
Much again on Monday morning. But you think New York, right,
It's where a lot of the greatest TV shows, shows
of all time have been set. And so how well
do you reckon? You know you're n y TV Tony Street.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Oh, I love a good series, and I think of
some of the classics like Friends that said it you
or can That's what often has the connection to that
place when you haven't even been there, right, Yes, it's
exactly right.
Speaker 5 (05:22):
Yeah, Okay, So I'm gonna play some TV themes you
see tew so man, which ones these are you really here?
We are set in Manhattan, Okay, this could be a
couple of things.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
I know, I know it, and I know I watched
this series you do Morning Shot.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
It is with Jennifer Aniston and.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Reese Witherspoon, John Hamyer and Billy Billy Cruddup, who.
Speaker 5 (05:47):
The other day won the Emmy for Best Supporting Actors.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
I was really glad he won that. I really enjoyed
him on their show.
Speaker 5 (05:51):
He's amazing.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
Actually, are they working another series of The Morning Show?
Speaker 1 (05:54):
Are?
Speaker 3 (05:55):
I need to see that.
Speaker 5 (05:55):
It's just wrapped now, so in another series? Stort to come.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
If you haven't watched it, go back and watch it
from the start. It's really good.
Speaker 5 (06:00):
It's on Apple TV. It's called The Morning Shot.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
It's about breakfast. Telly.
Speaker 5 (06:03):
Yeah, that's okay. Here we go. This one here very
one of the biggest TV shows in the world, and
at the time the star was the highest paid star
on TV. I know what this.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Says, isn't it.
Speaker 5 (06:18):
It's the Cosby Show. Yeah, A little of a controversial since.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
But I used to love this as a kid.
Speaker 5 (06:23):
I love this shot.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
What has happened since, which is not great.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
I was a big fan of the Cosbys, so the
family was as they walk down it.
Speaker 5 (06:31):
Yeah, yeah, the whole family dynamics. I loved it. Anyway,
It's well yeah, anyway, okay. So this Cosby show, well
and you're two from two, this one you're gonna nail.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (06:52):
Also one of the greatest TV shows of.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
All times, Sopranos.
Speaker 5 (06:55):
It is yeah, three from yeah. If you are in
the draw, if you got through, you're the right caller
at the right time. Today's the day you might win
an amazing trip to be Tony Street's big spender. In fact,
next we've got to talk to someone who has has
that happened to them? In fact, our most recent big spender,
Kate joins us up to.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
This Coasts Feel Good Breakfast to catch up podcast with Coasts,
Tony Street, Jas Reeves and Sam Wallace.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
We were so lucky last year to get the most
wonderful winners and Kate and Roger from.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
The White Car Tour, and we have them now.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
Guys, are you so excited to see who's going to
get this New York trip?
Speaker 9 (07:33):
Oh?
Speaker 8 (07:34):
It's so excited. I mean to get with us going again.
Speaker 9 (07:38):
I can't wait. I can't wait to see who you're
going to get to take. They're going to have an.
Speaker 5 (07:41):
Absolute last because of this stage here, Kate, you know
you are our most recent Big Spender winner, And so
to someone who might get that phone call and not
too long from now, explain how that works. What goes
through your mind when your phone's ringing. You see it's
a block number. You pick it up and it's us.
Speaker 9 (07:55):
On the end. Look, even now thinking about it, it
kind of gives goosebumps and the heart gets racing again.
I just wasn't expecting it at all. It was just
an unbelievable experience. And then the phone goes and last
year it was you. You're one of three. So there
was the pressure of that and the build up of
that was exciting, and I felt sorry for the other
(08:17):
two one time one.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
You know that's a hard part, isn't it. You know
if you make that final little final three and then
you're just so close and only one person's actually going
to realize it. Roger, you got to tag along after
Kate got you in this draw all of your expectations
of what our trip to Vegas and Hawaii was going
to be, Like, how did it match up?
Speaker 8 (08:39):
I think who ever wins? Like what Kate was saying,
what you guys were saying, so, who the wins you?
Speaker 3 (08:43):
You'll have expectations this morning.
Speaker 8 (08:45):
I can tell you, I can guarantee you it will
be three, four or five times your expectations.
Speaker 9 (08:49):
It was just amazing, absolutely amazing, And you guys made
us feel so normal and you're so special at the
same time.
Speaker 8 (08:57):
It's just incredible.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
I feel like it's outrageous that you don't get to
come with us on New York. I feel like we
should just keep adding to our travel parties here.
Speaker 5 (09:06):
Every year.
Speaker 9 (09:08):
We did come up with a cunning plan last night.
Some of these reality shows like they had that they
have the All Stars, So we thought we should have
Tony's Big Spender All Stars.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
Oh, I'm going to write that down. I reckon the
Boss might like that.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
Yeah, imagine the destination. Where would we go for the
All Stars?
Speaker 5 (09:28):
Oh?
Speaker 9 (09:28):
Look, where would we not go?
Speaker 1 (09:32):
Oh gosh, I love it so much. Ten thousand dollars.
Can we just talk about that money that you got
to spend, Kate? How hard was that to decide what
to spend it on?
Speaker 8 (09:43):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (09:43):
Quite hard initially, because you know, everything we've sort of
done for ourselves in the last or twenty plus years
has been very much about Rogers, spreadsheets and you know,
making sure that we can afford to do things. So
to be given that to then say, you know, go
wild by what you like. It took some adjusting, it
really did, because you want to sort of make sure
(10:06):
you did the right thing and spent it on the
right stuff. But we're sort of going silly. But then
it was like, that's what you meant to do.
Speaker 5 (10:13):
Yeah, it's a bit of a juggle. How you got
some great handbags, you got the lovely Apple, there's the iPhone,
you got, the shoes looked amazing, Roger you got you
got Dick Down a few costumes as well.
Speaker 8 (10:22):
Mate, Oh yes I did.
Speaker 9 (10:23):
I got sport talks very special and girls our daughters.
Speaker 5 (10:27):
Yeah, we love that you did that.
Speaker 8 (10:30):
You know.
Speaker 9 (10:31):
It was also the chance to do after you guys
had left Vegas helicopter tour over the Gream Canyon, which
is something that what a would never have been there
to start with, and be to have the opportunity with
the funds to be able to go and do that
was something really special. That we're all in the fever
and I configure that this sort of day goes by
literally that we don't think about that trip.
Speaker 5 (10:53):
Well, it was honestly such a please of traveling with
you guys, and congratulations again. So at this stage, Kate
and Roger are our most recent big that's going to
change in just a few minutes from now Tony Street's
ten thousand dollars big Spenders.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
This is.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Less than a month and we will be in New York. Okay,
so this is a quick turnarounds. And I feel like
we just announced this competition the other day and here
we are this Friday morning, about to put the very
first finalist.
Speaker 5 (11:23):
Hold the map way.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
So what I'm going to do.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
I'm gonna swish my ball around here the tom Bowler machine.
Whatever ball comes out, Okay, that is corresponding to a name, Jesse,
You're going to tell me who that person is.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
Can you get the list ready?
Speaker 1 (11:37):
And this will be our first finalist, assuming of course,
that the person actually picks up the phone, because if
they don't, we will go and we will draw another
ball out until someone picks it up. Right, So this
is the first finalist. This is not the winner of
the overall thing.
Speaker 5 (11:51):
No, it's not the winner of the overall thing. So
everyone who got through was call a ten at the
right time, got a number allocated to them. Now we
have the number of the list to here and the
name's next to them. All right, are you ready? Ye are?
Speaker 3 (12:00):
Okay, I'm about to spin the ball machine. Just tighten
up the hang it all here.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
Here we go, first ball into the Big Spender draw is.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
I've got one?
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Okay, and it just so happens to be my favorite color, pink. Now,
just to just just to clarify, this is a little snag.
When there's an astress on a ball, does the astress
go at.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
The top or the bottom?
Speaker 5 (12:26):
Now that's the ground.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
It's the ground.
Speaker 4 (12:27):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
So the ball number I have just wanted to clarify that.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
As pink ball number zero six, number six on.
Speaker 5 (12:36):
The list randomly Okay.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
So that'll be someone that was an early caller for
Big Spender.
Speaker 3 (12:43):
Right, I'm guessing they.
Speaker 5 (12:45):
Were randomly allocated, I think.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
Okay, I.
Speaker 5 (12:48):
Have the name of the person. I don't know how
that works.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
Okay, have you got the number ball number six? Is
this your lucky ball? Have your phone ready and pick
it up?
Speaker 5 (12:59):
Please?
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Oh I can't deal with this.
Speaker 5 (13:04):
You have to answer with an eight rings goes scene
we go. That's one ringing. It's a good sign.
Speaker 8 (13:13):
Hello Sarah Sticking.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Hello Sarah, this is Tony here from Coast and Jason, you,
my friend, are our first finalist for this draw that
we're going to draw after eight o'clock. So we've got
three people to ring and you are you now have
a one and three chance of coming to New York
with us.
Speaker 6 (13:34):
Oh my goodness. Okay, cool you.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Okay, Sarah, tell us a little bit about you. Where
where do you live?
Speaker 3 (13:40):
Like what part of New Zealand are you in?
Speaker 6 (13:42):
I live ant which is in centa Hawk's Bay.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
Ah, you're a Hawk's Bay gown.
Speaker 5 (13:48):

Speaker 3 (13:51):
Bay. And what's your sort of situation? Like do you work?
Have you got kids? Like what? What? Like?
Speaker 5 (13:57):
What do you do?
Speaker 3 (13:59):

Speaker 6 (13:59):
So I have got four kids, will granting from twenty
two down to its Actually my youngest son fourteenth there today.
Speaker 5 (14:09):
Oh what's his name?
Speaker 6 (14:12):
His name's Cooper.
Speaker 3 (14:14):
Happy birthday, thank you.
Speaker 6 (14:17):
Yeah, so it's an exciting day anyway. But yeah, and
I have I'm a hedrew sayer. I've got a cell
on at my home and I if I win, I'll
be taking my husband Nick, who's a track driver. And yeah, yeah,
It's just really exciting.
Speaker 5 (14:36):
Is it something you really want to buy when you're
in New York if you win this trip.
Speaker 6 (14:41):
Well, I'd really like some jewelry.
Speaker 5 (14:43):
Oh, just the place a place that is a place
on Fifth Avenue. It is literally Tiffany and Co. The
Tiffany and Co.
Speaker 6 (14:52):
Yeah, well, I'm figuring out the baby once for the
lifetime chance to buy something really nice.
Speaker 9 (14:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
What what would this trip mean to you, Sarah if
you to win it?
Speaker 8 (15:01):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (15:02):
It literally awesome, Like we really need a break, Like
we haven't been on holiday together for a long time.
So yeah, it'll be just just so exciting and just really.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
Oh goodness me. Well, I'm so excited for you that
you have made this top three. We're going to find
out really, so whether you're coming with us, you sound wonderful.
We would love you to come, but it's up to
the gods.
Speaker 5 (15:24):
Now, is Sarah?
Speaker 3 (15:25):
All right?
Speaker 5 (15:26):
Hold there for us one second? All right now, So
we are in the throes of finding our finalist. Sarah's
finalist number one.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
Sarah sounds great, doesn't she, Ja, Well, I'll be happy
to travel with Sarah and Nick.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
They sound awesome. Trying to give me a cut and.
Speaker 5 (15:37):
Color before we go, we would love to take you
and a friend flying in New Zealand premium economy to
New York. And when you're there, we would love to
give you ten thousand dollars cash and Tony's going to
take your shopping.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
Yes, I am, and I'm so excited because we already
have our first finalist through today.
Speaker 3 (15:56):
Her name is Sarah and she's from how do I
say it?
Speaker 5 (15:59):
Or Tana Tony Spa to sell the pace.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
She's a heredresser. Her husband Nick, as a truck driver
and that is who she would take. She's got four kids.
Her eldest is twenty two, her.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
Youngest is fourteen, Cooper, who's turning fourteen today.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
Happy birthday, Cooper. And now we're about to find out
who our second finalist is.
Speaker 5 (16:15):
So we go back to the tom Bowl of this
little week cage for balls and its spin that around
there another ball will full out.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
It's kind of brutal, isn't it. You make the top three,
get your hopes up for then only one wins. But
that's the way the game works.
Speaker 5 (16:25):
Okay, So I've got a list here. If you imagine,
if you call a ten at the right time, you've
got a randomly allocated number to your name. If that
number comes out, we start looking through the list to
find at who it is and make a phone call.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
So the first ball was pink ball number six. I'm
about to get second ball.
Speaker 9 (16:39):
Here we go.
Speaker 3 (16:42):
Would you believe it?
Speaker 1 (16:42):
It's a pink ball again, but Tom Bowland knows that
it's my favorite color.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
A much higher number this time though.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
We have pink ball number eighty two. Two pink ball
number eighty two.
Speaker 5 (16:58):
Okay, all right, remember you have to answer your phone
with an eight rings?
Speaker 9 (17:04):
Was doing this?
Speaker 3 (17:13):
God? Think Katie to come on answer your phone? Now,
come on, I don't answer. We have to go to
someone else.
Speaker 8 (17:32):
Kris are speaking.
Speaker 3 (17:33):
Oh hi Teresa, it's Tony calling from closet here.
Speaker 6 (17:40):
Oh my gosh, Hi Tony.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
Hi Teresa, you have my friend. You're our seeking caller.
So we now have a woman called Sarah and now you, Teresa,
are in our top three. You've been listening, haven't you?
Speaker 3 (17:53):
I Sha, Teresa, tell me a little bit about you.
Where are you from?
Speaker 8 (17:59):
So I'm from Auckland and I have a daughter who's
set medical school in Aukland. Oh wow, my husband passed
away ten months ago. I'm so so yeah, so you know,
something like this would just be such a wonderful experience
(18:23):
or the two of us, and so you.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
Would you would take your daughter? Is that what you're saying?
Speaker 5 (18:28):
Yes, yeah, you can pull her out.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
Oh goodness me, she probably needs a break with all
her medical goings on.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
What year is she in medical school?
Speaker 8 (18:37):
Second year?
Speaker 3 (18:38):
Second year?
Speaker 5 (18:39):
So well done you mum.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
To have a daughter a medical school that it's no
easy thing.
Speaker 8 (18:44):
You thank you to a second degree? She's just finished
her first degree.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
What was her first degree?
Speaker 8 (18:52):
Health science? She did all that while my husband was unwell,
So you know, I just take my hair off to her.
But oh well, what a thrill you guys, Such a
thrill anyway.
Speaker 5 (19:07):
And wow, hey Theresa, it's just Jason here. If you
win this, Hi, if you win this? What would you
love to buy? In New York ten Green's playlist?
Speaker 8 (19:16):
Oh gosh, I was listening to the previous winners where
they said that they just had to get used to
being able to spend some money so freely.
Speaker 9 (19:27):
I would love shoes.
Speaker 8 (19:31):
And shoes and shoes, and yeah, maybe something, you know,
maybe Grace and I could buy something matching.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
Restore or you are speaking to me.

normally and I can't find the words credibles. It's just

Speaker 5 (30:45):
You know that feeling though, right though, as you flew
into JFKA, even if you just there for a couple
of hours then flew out again, as you flew over
the city and saw that skyline, what went through your mind.
Speaker 8 (30:53):
Was a prince skyline to what it is now? Just
you know, it's it's so famous, it's like being on
a movie set. It doesn't it's surreal.

going to get to a street hot dog, because you've
got to do that. We're going to get to a coffee.
We might take you a Central Park, but then, as
you heard, Tony's going to take you Big Apple and beyond.

Dutchess County, which is in the Hudson Valley, and there's
a place called the Alps Sweet Shop. Are you like us?
Do you have a sweet tooth?

I'm trying to contain it.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
Then contain it for the next few weeks so we
can blow out in New York. Hey, Theresa, you you.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
Did mention to us before we drew this that it's
been a pretty sort of hard year for you. Can
you just put us in the picture of the air
of how it's been so.
Speaker 8 (31:45):
Yeah, a beautiful husband. He passed away ten months ago
and he was just the most gorgeous man. And our
lives has changed. You know, we're actually moving today.
Speaker 3 (32:03):
We have to move to.
Speaker 8 (32:05):
A smaller place, you know, life like there's plenty of
people going through things, but for us, yeah, lots of changes.
And we've got amazing friends and family that surround us
and love on us. And you know, I just yeah,
just this will just be such a Rob would be
(32:26):

Oh it sounds like you you do some happiness overdue.
Speaker 8 (32:35):

the other people that didn't win this amazing prize. But
you know, for once in my life, I was late year,
this was this was our Yeptually.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
Theresa, this is your time. And I know that Rob.

shining down on you and going look at my two
girls going and having the time of their lives.
Speaker 3 (33:01):
And I just want to let you know too.
Speaker 1 (33:02):
We have had dozens and dozens of texts and everyone
is saying, I'm so glad that Teresa has won this.
Speaker 3 (33:09):
So just know that everyone is with you.
Speaker 5 (33:11):
There's been some swearing about how happy people are, people.
Speaker 8 (33:17):
Are so beautiful way people they are, that's kindness. Through
this last year, I've seen real true you know, humanity
and kindness and grief. And I are so close. You know,
We've got a wonderful relationship. And the three of us
used to be the three amigos. We used to call
each other and so yeah, so it'll be wonderful on
(33:39):
every level.
