Jordie Perrett popped up the past the quinter Pine pay support,
pay support.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
How appropriated cam ROI Guards get the right thirty one
twenty four. That is the try that sealed victory for
the All Blacks last night, scored by the game's standout player,
cam Roy Guard or Black's assistant coach talmoty Ellison is
with us. Tomody, Thanks for your time this afternoon. What
was your overriding emotion at the final whistle last night?

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Um, you good question. That's grateful really, you know, like
grateful for the week in the team singing, coming together
and you know, great to share the last game here
in New Zealand there with the preters Cuptain and with
families and friends in the What were.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
The keys to your victory last night?

Speaker 2 (01:03):
I think by the balance of of the air. You know,
early in the game when it was drary, were probably
on the air really well. We got through our target
and kind of stuck to the strategy. But they came
back really well though. They've got a greater teching shape
and I think that the resilience and need to hang

(01:24):
in there.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
How much did you work on the aerial game after
the two South African tests.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
It's a constant, you know, like the working week's pretty
pretty defined. You got to get your big blocks and
you got to make sure you're you're clear on the
real fundamentals of the game. So some of it's individual skills,
some of its strategy around you know, who goes where
and how we structure things. But it's a constant work
on for a number of you know, the teams for sure,

(01:53):
especially around the rules. Now we could continue to adjust
to the battles in the air, you know, no longer
able to kind of protect that catcher and and bubble them.
But it's a real better when the now so just up.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Filling that he came out of the blocks really quickly
a try after four minutes and three tries in the
first twenty four minutes. What gave you instant momentum at
the start of the game.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
I think we were we had intended to start really
really fast. We were conscious that they had come out
the blocks also, so you know, we had to have
a clear plan around where we wanted to go. And
I saying will Jordan lost a lot so greasy on
the field, but he actually said that that was quite dry,
like we other grip the ball, so they were the
boys were really fearless and moving the ball and I think,

(02:41):
you know, they're pretty confident that throughout the game.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
What was your assessment of the last ten minutes in
the first half when Australia scored a couple of tries
to close the margin from seventeen down to three.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
As as a part of the game, they do well,
and you know, I think we were struggled to get
a second shoulder on and then they allowed to get
a little bit of momentum through the middle and they're
really good when they do that.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
So we've spoken about that just on the field and
especially at half time, to get too shoulders and to
stay in front of them.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
And at the end, well near the end, they score
a try with ten to go, you're only ahead by two.
What do you look for or who do you look
for or look to in situations like that to take control?

Speaker 2 (03:25):
I think, yeah, obviously the leaders. I think the key
part is what the actual strategy is. I was really
impressive Artie last night, just so conscious of what's what's
happening around them. You know, considering the amount of collisions
he's in there. You might have seen his face head,
we've got a blood coming out the top of his eye.

(03:46):
But to be really clear in the moment around what's required,
and in that moment I thought they did that. Well.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
How influential and important has Cam Royguard become to your side?

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Ah, he's a rugby player camera re guard. Well, you know,
super impressive, just a real around the rucks. You know,
as a defensive culture you're planning for you know, your
your big ball carriers, but if you're anne like that,
that can carry just as strong around the middle of
the of the rucks as massive for your attacking game.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
And you mentioned Will Jordan having a chat to him
the Leroy Carter, Caleb Clark, Will Jordan back three. First
time we've seen that that combination. What did you make
of it?

Speaker 2 (04:34):
It was great to have Caleb that you know, he's
he's had a bit of a bumpy kind of ride
with injuries and their impressive this week training was it's
good sen year, specially bick Eden Park and you see
what what a moment to have everon he's singing their
national infem as well, was getting better and better you will.

(04:56):
Jordan's as confident as ever.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
So how will you now go about Tom and t
finding consistency, the consistency that's been a bit elusive during
the Rugby Championship and go to Perth and when there
as well.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
I think that game been really clear around the strategy
and having a week where we're really connected. It's good
to go away as a group again now and be
clear what parts of the game that we really need
to nail down. And you know, the reson be just
as honest different areas last night. If we need to
get right, it's just so that'll be you get on

(05:31):
the plane in a couple of hours and then get
our reviews done and look forward to another massive game
up there.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
For how tough was the aftermath of the Springboks taste
in Wellington?

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Yeah, I think the challenges you know, everyone looks at
the individual areas. It's part of the role, you know,
the standards that you'll bit Jersey demands, so it's always
going to be tough. I think that the key partner
now is is making sure we keep driving those tas

(06:06):
and is regardless of outcome or performance, it's going to
fall in love with the process. It's again we have
a good break now, I'm sure even you know it
has the morning with their families and then be real
clear on what's required next week.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
And a couple of injury problems. Ethan Degrut went off
with the hi A which I think he failed, so
he presumably might be there next week. Bowden Barrett was
in a sling for an ac joint injury. Are you
unlikely to be without him? Well, are you likely to
be without him next week? Boddy?

Speaker 2 (06:35):
I'm sure that kind of. I think the miracles will
be hppening as we speak, and you know, walkingt a
wrap up of who's coming and who's not. It's an
every week thing. Funny as you know, like the physicality
of the game and how quick injuries can happen. So
again it's importantly we stay really connected and as the

(06:58):
next man up, we sit there next man up to
really perform.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
Congrats on last night retaining that bled uslow. It looked
like they were filling it up last night. A couple
of photos I saw seemed like got filled up okay
last night in the sheds.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Yeah, I think part that's part of it as well.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
Funny love it congrats again. Thanks for your tom this afternoon,
save travels to Mony.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Yeah, thank you, it's funny.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
Thanks mine. That's end. Tumty Ellison, Assistant coach of the
All Black.
