A big party is coming to Wellington's St James Theatre this month.

The acclaimed Mamma Mia musical is taking the stage over August, with the Wellington-based cast performing all of Abba's greatest hits over a two-week season.

Nick was lucky enough to be joined by a very sparkly Donna and the Dynamos in studio to discuss the show and perform a classic Abba tune.

Mamma Mia is on at the St James Theatre from August 13th to 31st. Tickets from Ticketmaster.

I thought it sounded like somebody else I was thinking,
So you did you come? Walk all the way down
Courtney Place across the road?

Speaker 5 (01:22):
Jimma actually stopped traffic.

She did.

Speaker 6 (01:24):
She didn't stop the traffic. She wasn't Yeah, she wasn't
waiting for any get Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
For everybody that thinks there's a problem on Courtney Place,
of these beautiful young ladies can walk down Courtney Place,
dress like they are and get into the studio without
being a soldier.

Speaker 6 (01:43):
I feel sorry for someone if they tried to take out.

Speaker 5 (01:45):
Honestly, we're not mucking around.

We're all in our forties now, and we get to
have this much amount of fun. We get to go
every night dressed up in sequins and fake eyelashes, and
we get to sing these songs night after night. And
I didn't expect that. I would be doing it in

(02:28):
my stage of life, but here we are. So this
is this is a show about celebrating these amazing women
and these female friendships. And we let all the young

all together as a team, and we have a fabulous
director called Meyer who has just had such a beautiful vision.
And yeah, it's just been an absolute blast from for me.

Ebba was and and I know I'm right, two women
and two guys. You're three women, this is correct, But
this is not their.

to the stage and telling this amazing story. And you know,
for a lot of people, and I hope you're one
of them. The minute you hear the opening to one
of those classic Ever songs, the piano tone and incredible band.
You want to get up?

Speaker 4 (03:48):

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Are they allowed to? People have to? I almost feel
like I want to get up and dance.

Speaker 6 (03:52):

lot going on, encouraging you to get up and join
into the part, joining the party because it is.

how it is. Okay, George, what's your favorite spot on
the show? What's your your little face? You know your
hair goes up in the back of your hair head.

one big show stopping number in act two where I'm
essentially center stage and everybody dances around me.

such fun with that because I just get to sort
of stand there in the middle and pose and all
these other people around me make me look fabulous.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Can I tell people that can only hear this? That
would be worth while going to that? Jody, what's your
favorite spot?

My favorite is my number where I get to chase
a man around the stage and catch him. Oh yes,
I catch him at the end. I catch him and
throw him around that stage at the end, and my

of his life.
