Eleven people remain unaccounted for since a deadly fire that broke out in Wellington just after midnight, which has claimed at least six lives.
Police believe the number of fatalities at Loafers Lodge in Newtown is under 10.
More than 50 people have been accounted for and five are in hospital.
Parts of the building have collapsed with fire crews still dousing the roof with water from above.
Wellington's Mayor Tory Whanau says a Mayoral Relief Fund has been set up to support affected residents.
She described the deadly blaze to Nick Mills on Wellington Mornings as a 'truly tragic outcome'.
