(00:16):
All right, here we go,my friends. It's Monday. Oh,
yes, it's Monday. You knowhow I know it's Monday. Not only
does my clock say it, mycalendar say it, and my computers say
it, and my alarm clock saysit. I'm sitting here, minding my
own business at my broadcast desk, and I'm doing nothing. I've tested out
the headphones, make sure everything works, and I pick up my headphones and
(00:38):
somehow, miraculously the headphones are tangledup into my cable. I don't even
know. No one touched anything, and just like they found each other and
loved each other and gripped onto eachother. And I don't know how that
happens. So the two second delaywas me trying to figure out how my
headphones got tangled up. And Icouldn't sit up in full position. I
had to lean way over in orderto get them untanged. I don't know
(01:00):
how that happens. I just hadthem on a little bit ago and sat
them right down. The headphone satright down, and suddenly I picked them
up in their tangle. I don'tknow. I don't know, but welcome
to Monday, my friends. Ifthat's the worst, that happens today,
then it ain't a bad day.Glorious day. The Lord has made beautiful
weather. Yesterday in Colorado. Theeighty degrees got to be really nice again.
(01:23):
Not eighty degrees, I don't thinktoday. But it's gonna be a
nice day and they will cool backdown a little bit. But springtime in
America, springtime in Colorado seems tobe upon us, and I'm thankful for
that, very grateful. I wouldhave to be remiss. Start with the
bad news or the good news. The bad news is today, wherever you're
at, no matter how much Ihate it and look forward to it or
(01:44):
don't, Today is tax day inAmerica. So you got to get those
taxes done or your extension filed. All that stuff has to be done today.
So, ladies and gentlemen, Imean this sincerely. I know,
I know taxation is theft. Iknow we all hate it. I know
none of us like ailan the taxes. Some people like getting they call it
a refund. It's not a refund. It's them giving you your money back
(02:05):
that they've sat on and kept interestfree for a while. And evidently there's
something new going on this year.Had a couple of people tell me that
they had a refund do, andin having a refund, they had to
do it. They had to doidentity verification that went beyond just the normal
thing if you changed a bank account, you changed something. One of my
(02:27):
friends said he had to take hisphone with a link and he had to
scan his face like you know howyou do a thumb print or a fingerprint
on your computer and you have tokind of wiggle it around. He had
to move his face around the cameralike that. It took him like four
months to get what he well, three months to get what he needed from
the Internal Revenue Service, so theyeven held it longer with an They called
it enhanced verification of identity. AndI get it, there's identity theft out
(02:53):
there, but when you're already holdingthe money interest free, it seems as
if they could speed that expedite thattaup. But that is not exactly what happened.
To be Happy tax Day across America, across Colorado. If you don't
have him filed of you, youtotally spaced it. You might want to
file an extension and hope for thebest. Okay, So just happy tax
Day. I know it's not ahappy day for most people. But happy
(03:15):
tax Day, America. Let's getthis show started on this day. We
all get the craft scared out ofus by bloodsucker vampires. Tax Day today
is today, Federal tax security passand I pay tax tax Texas. I
don't pay no taxes, paying taxes. It's tax your tax. Showtime,
(03:42):
all right, is showtime on taxDay in America. You know what,
you know, we count so manyblessings that you're not working in New York
today. You hear all these people. I heard Hannity talking, he's moved
to Florida. Finally moved to Florida. After all that convetching. He got
down there, God bless him.And somebody said, come back into a
show in New York. And hisaccountants have warned him that you might not
(04:04):
want to do that. You cannotdo that because every time you set foot
of that state, they're going tofind out you were here and say you
were working. You're going to haveto pay taxes on those couple of days
that you're here, and that's goingto be a problem. I know people
that keep homes in other states outsideof Colorado, and they make sure that
(04:25):
they are out of Colorado. Theydon't. Even wedding, death, feuderal
doesn't matter. They might come backfor that, but they got to stay
out of the state exactly long enoughand document and somehow prove the days that
they're not here. They have ahouse here, they have a house elsewhere,
and they say, listen, Imake sure I'm out of the state
so that I'm subject to taxation inanother state and not Colorado, because Colorado
(04:46):
has that income tax and other statesdon't, and some folks choose to live
in other states solely because of that. Can you mention being an NFL player,
an NBA player, professional hockey players, somebody makes pretty good lump sum
of money every year, multiple millionsand millions of dollars, and having to
play in a state like New Yorkversus playing the state like Texas where you're
(05:11):
not going to have any taxes onthe state portion of it. So there
is something to be said about gettingrid of state income tax, and it
makes it much more appealing for alot of people. Now, the argument
has always been, I hear peoplein Colorado. They used to say they
can't say this anymore. They useduldsay, well, we pay state income
tax, but places like Texas havehigher property taxes. Now, after all
(05:31):
the property tax debacle that we havein the state of Colorado, Colorado can't
brag that anymore. They can't say, well, we have a state income
tax, but we're not worried wehave a low property tax. You don't
anymore, and you still got thestate income tax. So it shows that
the government is not necessarily interested inmaking your life easier on any level of
government. They're more interested in addingto their coffers and taking your money out
(05:56):
of your pocket. And the veryfact that the proper taxes have had such
a drastic increase and there's been noreal conversation at the state capitol about how
do we fix not just the propertytax, or hey, let's keep the
property tax high, let's get ridof the state income tax. But now
there's been no real conversation. Thestate legislature has been worried about end caps
(06:17):
on liquor and so called assault weaponsbands. That's what they have been focused
on. Meanwhile, today you arereally really feeling the pain, and you
know, all of this tax stuff, all the tax burdens that you feel
in America, would be alleviated ifwe did not have automatic deduction of our
taxes. If all of us,every month, every week, every year
(06:39):
had to get our tax bill andjust write the check, I'm guaranteeing you
there would be a different lot ofpoliticians elected all across the state of Colorado
and all across America. And youthink it's convenient for you to have that
deduction, Well, it's kind ofconvenient. They just take it right out
of my paycheck. Yeah, that'sthe problem. You don't notice it.
It's not coming out of your pocket. Money you never see, and therefore
(07:01):
you think that's all the money youhave. It's not all the money you
have. The government's taking a largechunk of your money. And to welcome
to tax Day in America. Soanyway, glad to have you here on
the radio show. Jimmy is myname. It is a Monday edition of
the radio show. I say thison every Monday that everybody hang on together.
We'll get to it, and we'llget through it, and we will
get to Friday soon enough, andwe will celebrate accordingly. I was at
(07:26):
the Denver International Airport this weekend andI want to pay I meant to do
this last time I flew and I'moften you don't know this. I don't
give you all my travel business, but I'm oftentimes not around. I travel
places and do things, and Iconvert around the nation. That's what I
do, so sometimes not all thetime. But this weekend I happen to
be in and out of the DenverInternational Airport and I got a compliment.
(07:50):
I meant to do this the lasttime they have opened up these new security
lanes. If you haven't been outthere, let's say, in the last
three or four months, kudos, congratulations. Only got this thing right,
it seems. I know they're stilldoing a lottery modeling. It's still some
dust, and there's still some problemsgetting from one section of baggage claim to
another. All that, but theyfinally got these security zones done, and
(08:13):
the security is a vast improvement ofover what it used to be. And
I always give praise where praises do. Therefore, I believe I can give
critique when critique is due. AndDenver International Airport has figured out the They
have figured out the the security checkpoints, at least for now, So if
you haven't been out there in thelast three or four months, the security
(08:35):
checkpoints are now disappeared. Usually havethat big, great tent area, and
then you have some on the eastand the west, and now that's all
changed up. So give yourself acouple of extra minutes. I happened to
I was flying on an airline onthe other on the I was on the
it was east west. I getthem all mixed up. Anyway, I
parked, and I parked myself.I didn't take the have some have the
(09:00):
ubers take me, So I parkedmyself out there because I wasn't gone that
long. And I walked right outof the parking garage from the level I
parked on, walked right in andsaid, oh, there's the new security.
I wasn't used to that side ofthe terminal. I usually fly on
the other side of the terminal. But it was very convenient and a job
well done by the remake of theDenver International Airport. Now I still haven't
figured this one out. As youexit the airport leaving on Paynia Boulevard,
(09:24):
and again, if that's the otheroddity of the Denver Airport, if there's
only one exit to kind of getout of there. So both sides of
the terminal were flooding in here andit was non stop traffic. When I
went to the airport, I couldsee it. I said, oh,
good lord, I hope that's clearedup by Sunday, and it wasn't.
And what's happening is out on PayniaBoulevard, just before you get to the
interchange of the tollway, they're fixinga bridge there on the was at westbounds,
(09:48):
the exit of the airport, they'refixing a bridge there, and it's
down to they go down from threelanes to two or four lanes to three,
or they really trimmed down, andit's just a cluster mess because all
these people need this road. Andmy point is is not that they're fixing
a bridge. I'm glad they're fixinga bridge, but how long does it
take to fix a bridge. Itseems like on such a major thoroughfare where
(10:11):
there's only one exit out of theairport, you had fixed the bridge a
little bit quicker. But it wasa beautiful day yesterday. Pay them some
overtime, which again about there workingon Sunday, nobody working, but there
was a lot of stopping. Ittook him. It took almost as long
to get out paying the boulevard, about half as long as you get down
Paya as it did to get home. I mean, that's how that's how
(10:31):
long the traffic mess was leaving theairport getting in, no problem getting out.
And I didn't know what the delaywas when I went in the other
day, and then I last nightI figured it out. I said,
oh my goodness, they said,I got this lane shutdown. It's been
shut down for several weeks there. So anyway, I've improved the construction outside.
But I do give credit, andif you haven't been out there,
(10:52):
I had been out there with anew security but I had been on the
other side of the terminal and theother One side's different than the other,
but they're both very seemingly smooth inmy humble opinion, and they've done a
good job fixing that. So congratulationsof them. Are Another big story in
Kalauado over the weekend, the DenverUniversity hockey team has won their tenth national
(11:13):
championship. Often under reported and undertalked about the University of Denver, it
is really the I guess, thenation's lead in hockey this year and in
so many years. The national championshipcelebration is going to be today at six
thirty PM in the Magnus Arena Monday, April fifteenth, Tax Day, So
(11:35):
if you want to take your mindoff the tax Day, you can go
down to Magnus. Serena, JaredWright and Riger Laurenz scored a second period
goals. Matt Davis had thirty fivesaves. Denver beat the number one overall
seed Boston College two to zero Saturdaynight with the tenth with a tenth national
championship in the program, and sobig kudos to the University of Denver hockey
(11:58):
team for being legend they are.Isn't it amazing? And I'm a big
football guy, and so I likethe football. But in the state of
Colorado, I think the University ofDenver hockey team needs a lot more credit,
a lot more coverage, and Coloradocould get by with it's a hockey
state. A lot of my friendslove hockey. They'd rather watch the hockey
(12:18):
than the football. And that's okay. Colorado's a hockey state. That's fine.
So I think the University of ColdUniversity of Denver ought to get the
coverage that let's say Dion Sanders getsa CU I mean, Deon Sanders sucks
all the oxygen out of the newscoverage. So I hope the University of
Denver gets a lot of coverage fortheir tenth national championship. Overall, that
is an epic program. I don'tthink you can say that about them.
(12:39):
Even recently in college basketball, theywere talking about programs that had won three
national championships in basketball or coaches thathad won two. This is a program
that has won ten national championships andit is an epic program. And congratulations
to the Pioneers I believe they're called. So congrats to the Pioneer years for
(13:01):
kicking booty at the Boston College anda national championship celebration. If you're a
hockey fan, maybe something fun totake your kids up too. I know
it's a school night, but hey, it's a national championship and that's going
to be the Magnus serenum. Igot a history of the Magnus Arena.
It's a good history. First arenashow. Back when I was first starting
the Leaky Entertainment Group and my musicproduction company that built the Lakey Entertainment Towers.
(13:26):
I was just getting started into businessand I needed to do an Arenas
show, and I bid on anArenas show me, meaning there's other promoters
that wanted the arena show, andI got it. I don't think they
like the other guys, so somehowI got it. I had never done
one, and I got it onsmoke, mirrors, prayer and borrowed money
is how I did it, becausethose are expensive and I made a heck
(13:50):
of a lot of money that night, one of the big windfalls of my
production career of promotion, and itwas at Magnus Arena. And this is
when I did This is a funnystory. I was telling this over the
weekend about Magnus Arena when they knewthe celebration was happening down there. When
you promote a concert, if you'rethe host of the show, you get
what's called a writer, our iDeerwriter. And the writer is you know,
(14:11):
the fifteen twenty thirty fay could beas big as they want it to
be. And it talks about arival that talks about the kind of power
supply, the shore power they'll needfor buses and trucks. I mean,
it goes through the details of what'show many chairs in a locker room or
a dressing room and what Some bandsare more picky than others, most of
them are pretty reasonable. This iswhere you hear the legendary they only want
(14:31):
blue m and ms, and alot of that's just to make sure you
read it. I mean, therewas always a line in a couple of
bands it always says no Sam's Clublasagna in the catering, which meant,
are you reading this have some homecoook food for us, or have a
real caterer. Don't be trying tobake it in the easy bakeup and that
you'll loaded out of the back ofyour car. Because again, all that
expense of the catering and or allthe stuff on the writers. Basically the
(14:54):
promoter in that case, it wasmy company's responsibility and you either had to
sign off on it or cross itout and remark it and call them up
and say I'm not doing this.I'll do this. Here's our compromise.
So that was once you got thecontract, you had to negotiate the writer,
and for the most part, thewriter was pretty reasonable, but occasionally
you would find something crazy in there. And I had many arguments over writers
(15:20):
after the facts, after the showand what we call the settlement. Time
you go to the smoke filled roomin the back and you're arguing with each
other, and I write the finalcheck. And because the promoter's the last
got to get paid, so ifI have made money, they need a
lot of money, and so I'mthe last guy to get paid. Well,
I didn't know that they I wasthe only guy on the whole tour
that actually when they got off thebus had a chef with an omelet station
(15:41):
there, and I didn't know youcould negotiate that out of there. And
I'm going to have a basket ofscrambled eggs there. I didn't know you
have catering, just do scrambled.I had an omelet station. The guys
with the big hats there, thatwas the that was their request. And
I treated them like, I said, oh, I guess I can I
I can negotiate that. And soI showed up and walked in and the
chefs were there, two chefs flippingomelets, and even the bands were walking
(16:06):
in off the bus going wow,you really got the omelet station. The
manager, the road manager was like, you really got an omelet station?
I said it was in the writer. He goes, wow, no one
ever does that part. I didthe whole thing and then I'm sitting there
watching, going this is costing mea lot of money. I knew I
was going to make money that nightbecause the show had already sold out weeks
ahead, and so I was inthe black for sure. But every money,
(16:29):
every dollar that you spend above, that's now coming out of my pocket
because they're going to get their fees. It's all coming out of my pocket.
So I'm watching this omelet and I'mlooking at it. It looks really
good. And it took me up. I was so green in the concert
industry that it took me about tento fifteen minutes of sitting there watching all
the band and all the crew eatingtheir custom made omelets by this great chef.
(16:52):
I watching this whole thing, andI realized, wait, I'm paying
for this. I get an omeletas well. So I got my little
button and I walked over there andout an omelet, and the rest of
the day, you can, youcan bet your bottom dollar that I was
in that catering room all day long. I was eating like a fat kid
at the County Fair. I wasbecause I was paying for it. And
I said, my god, ifI'm paying for this and this is now
(17:12):
coming out of my pocket because thisis just how the contract was negotiated.
I'm eating so I had, Ihad like two omelets throughout the day.
I was eating so in a Magnusarena. I have good memories. Made
my first big cash out in aconcert business at a show at Magnus Arena.
Went on to do many more arenashows and bigger shows like that,
(17:34):
but that that was where I cutmy teeth in the music big show business.
In the genre I was. Iwas in Christian and family entertainment for
the most part, mostly Christian shows. Although the big companies in town,
if they were doing Disney on Iceor some family friendly show, they usually
contacted my company to promote those concerts, and I promote those shows for them.
(17:57):
Matter of fact, a couple ofyears ago, I was walked into
the formerly Budweiser Events Center, theBlue Arena up in Loveland. I was
back behind. We're doing a radioevent or something there. It might have
been a Donald Trump rally. Idon't know why we were there, but
I was walking and I out ofthe corn of my eye that had this
wall of posters of all the concertsand events they had, and I saw
(18:18):
my logo A couple of times didJimmy lakey logo for my Lake Entertainment Company.
I saw my logo and I said, what, Oh I forgot I
helped with that show. Oh Iforgot my logo was on the bottom of
these posters, and that was justy I played. I played in the
music business. But Magnus Arena alwaysvery special. So I'm glad the pioneers
going to get to celebrate there today. All right, over the weekend,
(18:41):
you got oh, it's a stormyMonday. Donald Trump probably saying that stormy
Monday, his hush money trial versusStormy daniels I guess, begins today in
New York. I was watching alittle bit while I traveled over the weekend
and on the plane, and mostpeople say he'll lose that trial. It
will go to appeal. Most ofthe cases that are going to be heard,
(19:02):
if any case is heard in NewYork or Washington, there's everybody predicts
he will lose and then probably winsome kind of an appeal on him because
those are not necessarily the best jurypools. So it is stormy Monday for
Donald Trump. His hush money trial. Jury selection begins today. What the
area they're pulling from like ninety fivepercent Democratic voter registration. Yeah, probably
(19:29):
going to be tough to find agood jury there. But anyway, we'll
follow that as the case may developa warrant. This week, it's a
Monday edition of the radio show JimmyLakey behind the microphone, Good morning,
(20:11):
all right, walking to the program, I just got a message. I'm
always amazed at house. Sometimes weall do it. I guess at times
we all ask without thinking, weall speak without thinking through something. I
was here all last week. I'mback today. You never knew I was
out of town. I sent usa town over the weekend, and I
got a message from someone, Heyheard you were out of town. Or
are you in Africa? No,I was not that way. I don't
(20:37):
think you can make it there andback that quickly. I guess maybe I
don't think I could. Maybe Ishould try that one day. Okay,
I've just landed. Hello everybody inAfrica. I'm coming back home. I
don't think I can make it,but anyway, I just got that message
from someone. Are you in Africa? So I hope he had a great
trip. I was not in Africa. Haven't been there since February I got
to get something on the books. But no, I was not in Africa.
(21:00):
I read that I said this person. I don't know who the person
really was. I've got emails fromthat person before, but heard you're out
of town. Hope you had agreat trip for you in Africa. No,
I was not in Africa. Ileft Friday. I left Friday after
the show, and I got backlast evening, by the way, last
evening on the flight hall yesterday afterand I was watching the Masters. Scotti
(21:22):
Scheffler did a great job when heI think I was hoping Deschambau would do
better. He started off in theearly rounds Thursday Friday, he was up
in the top one or two,and then he I think he finished fourth
place or fifth place at six toone. That they had to share some
places d Chambeau because de Chambeau gotcriticized by a lot of the people in
the PGA because he went over tolive and there were some live golfers that
(21:44):
were playing in the Masters in Augusta. So I was hoping d Schambeau would
do better. But he still gotsome money. He was in the money
yesterday, so congratulations to him.I meant to look up how much Scheffler
made and how that paid out yesterday. If you ever want to find out
how these golfers do, they doquite well. And maybe I should have
learned how to play golf. Istill suck at golf, and that's why
when I host a charity golf event, I host a charity golf event.
(22:07):
That way you don't have to seeme out of the golf course just swinging
a club, because it won't bepretty. But yeah, scheffer won yesterday,
and he had a newborn baby, evident that they really have been timing
this thing that as long as shecarried it the full I didn't go into
labor early, he's going to beable to play the Masters. And that
was kind of the caveat all weekend. Is she going to bust and go
(22:27):
into labor here? So you neverknew. So she made it through.
And they said, you have amessage for your wife, and he said,
yeah, I'm coming home. That'smy message from my wife. And
I get it. That's what mediaguys have to do. They have to
ask his questions. But I'm sureany message he had for his wife probably
not something that he had to puton television. But it was a story.
He's going to be a new father, first time father, and they're
(22:49):
going to have his first baby. And he just won the Master's Tournament and
good for him. He won twoyears ago and then John Rom won it
last year. So the green jacketceremony is always funny because so many of
these sporting events have these big festivals. I mean, everybody goes on the
field, they set up stage ina football game, there's confetti blowing when
they give you the green jacket, which is a part of your prize for
(23:12):
winning. You get the honor ofwearing a green Master's jacket. They do
that in one of the like aprivate room, and it's just a television
guy and the guy representing the Masters, not even the entire Masters committees there
and less they're behind the camera andyou have John Ram, who's the defending
champion, putting on a green jacketon the new champion, Scottie Scheffler.
(23:33):
And the year before that role wasreversed. So these guys are on top
of the top. And that wasa but there's no hype to it.
It's the and you know that songif you watch the Masters like I do,
there's this song that they play, they'd say, walking to the Masters,
we're back here today to play golf, and people have sticks and clubs
and balls. That's kind of howthey talk the whole Masters thing, especially
one of the rejoins that's a songcalled Masters. I think it's a guy
(23:57):
named David Loggins, I think wroteIt's called Augusta and Morning in Augusta or
something like that. It's a realsong, so it's not just some jingle
that the CBS or the NBCRE whohave Golf Channel put together. It's actually
a song there was written about Augusta, and that's why it's so mellow all
the time. But anyway, Ijust thought that was interesting. I watched
(24:18):
the Green Jacket ceremony for the firsttime in a long time, and I
just remembered how quiet it was,in solemn and there's like three guys in
the room of the camera crew andthey put on the jacket, and that's
kind of it. There's no confettiblowing everywhere. The fans don't see the
green jackets ceremony. It's all rightthere behind closed doors, as it should
be at a country club, Iguess, very private club and Augusta.
(24:41):
But Scotti Cheffer I like golf ontelevision. Some of you, some of
you concur with me, and othersof you say I hate it when he
talks about golf. Well, getover it. It was a good,
good match and the Scotti scheffer winsthat thing. This portion of the program,
I want to remind you about zeroRes of Northern Colorado. Just before
I headed out of town, ZeroRes was out of the house of Laking,
(25:03):
and boy did they do a fantasticjob. It was so nice to
come back while I was home forone night after they cleaned and the carpets
were almost dry. I mean,if you ever had your carpets cleaned,
sometimes it takes forever to dry,but they quick dry really with zero Res
comparatively because they're not using heavy rensing. They don't have to use heavy rinsing
because they're not putting any chemicals down, any harsh chemicals that they have to
(25:25):
rinse out of there, because ifthey don't heavy rinse them in some companies,
and they're going to get stuck inthe carpet. Your carpet's going to
get dirty quicker, and so heavyrinsing is required. There's no heavy rinsing
because there's no chemicals used. It'sempowered water. They can explain what that
means, but let me tell youhow much I believe in this process.
When zero Res pulled up in frontof the House of Laky on Thursday,
I got to tell you that Irecognize my friends that they've been coming to
(25:47):
my house for a decade or more. I've used them before. They were
ever even an advertiser on the radioprogram. And I can't recommend them enough
for you. They cleaned the hallway, They cleaned a couple of staircases.
Yes, there were a couple ofplaces, Like many of you that are
pet owners, there were a coupleof places that the dog had. Well,
they came in. They have thislittle light the guy had Blake was
my technician, and Blake like, yeah, yeah, I'm like, oh
(26:10):
god, I didn't even see thatwhen it's kind of a black light thing.
Oh some places, I'm like, all right, the pet's been sneaking
around around here. I don't knowwhat he's been doing. They even clean
the shower enclosure and the tile andthe primary bath I think politically correct,
the master bath. They just dosuch a fantastic job, and I can't
recommend them enough. They wret myhouse on Thursday. I have them out
(26:30):
regularly to my home and they caneven do your air ducts as well.
Zero res are Easy, zero resnocodedot com, zero resnocode dot com.
Right now, they've got three roomsof carpet cleaned and zero resified for one

(27:37):
that this time tomorrow, twenty fourhours from right now, I want you
to set yourself an appointment for sixthirty, say six thirty five. Set
your alarm took up at six thirtyfive tomorrow morning in the Mountain time zone.
Representative Lauren Bobert is going to beon the program with me and she's
going to talk about her race inc D four. Lauren, twenty four
(28:00):
hours from now, she will beon the show. Just wanted to give
you heads up. We've had alla lot of the candidates on the program
that are running in that race, and it's a growing field. People are
petitioning. Lauren Bobert is the onethat made it through the Lauren Bobert made
it through the assembly top line,so she's going to be top line on
that June twenty fifth Republican primary ballot. Also on that ballot that's going to
(28:23):
be deb Flora. She submitted petitionsseveral weeks ago, back in May,
I believe or just May back inMarch, and so deb Flora will be
on the program on the ballot.Richard Holdtorf and Mike Lynch both also qualified
for petitioning on the ballot. HoldTworf and Lynch on the ballot. So
you have Flora, Holdtorf, Lynchand Bobert. And then over the weekend
(28:47):
it was announced that Jerry Sonenberg hashad his petitions approved and he's going to
be on the ballot in June aswell. I'm not sure if that rounds
out the field, but if mymouth does me correctly, does correctly have
let me count them on one hand. Ready, Bobert, holds Orf,
Lynch, Flora, and al Sonenberg. That's five names on that primary ballot.
(29:10):
That's a lot of names to choosefrom. Lauren Bobert, I would
say is the favorite in this race. But with five names on the ballot,
it's going to be very very interesting, very interesting. Lauren Bobert on
the program twenty four hours from rightnow, six thirty five tomorrow morning.
Set a calendar reminder on it.I'll be back in just a moment.
(29:30):
Lakey on the radio six hundred Kcol All right, we've had all the
(30:03):
other candidates and I'm more of aCD four on the program. Jerry Sonnenberg
has been on. I haven't hadJerry on in a while. We've had
Michael Lynjahn, Richard holdtorfon numerous times. Deb Flora as well. A lot
of them know that they can contactme if there's something they'd like to chat
about. For that race. I'llkeep it fair across the board. I
always do everybody I read any ofthat race, Democrats, Republicans. There's
(30:26):
a libertarian going to be on theJune twenty fifth ballot, but the Republican
field is the one that's excuse memaking news. Logan County Commissioner former state
Senator Jerry Sonnenberg has petitioned his wayonto the ballot, and Logan County Commissioner
now joins Loebert. Excuse me.Lauren Bobert. Lauren Bobert, by the
way, programming note on the programtomorrow at six thirty five in the morning,
(30:49):
so we'll I've already wrapped up thatinterview in twenty four hours. Lauren
Bobert on the program tomorrow morning. But Lauren Bobert's on the ballot now.
Jerry Sonnenberg is on the Friend ofthe program as well, Mike Lynch,
Richard Holdtorf, and Deb Flora. So there are five names on that race
in that Republican race for picking upthe seat that ken Buck has walked away
(31:12):
from in the CD four. Thecattle rancher Jerry Sondenberg, former state lawmaker.
This is according to Colorado Politics, joins Lauren Bobert, Deb Flora,
Richard Holdtorf, Mike Lynch in thatrace. So it's going to be interesting.
He had to have fifteen hundred signaturesfrom fellow party members to qualify.
(31:33):
Of the thirty one, one hundredand fifty five signatures turned by Sonnenberg,
seventeen hundred and nineteen were valid. So you have to get quite a few
signatures on there because a lot ofthem are deemed invalid. Maybe they didn't
sign their name right, maybe theyweren't registered at the right time, not
in the district, etc. Andusually you pay a firm to go get
those signatures. So it's a processand it's out of your hands. Remember
a few years ago, my friendRobert Blahak qualified for the US Senate race
(31:57):
in Colorado by petitioning aubed. Hehad to go to court to petition on
because they've invalidated some signatures it shouldnot have been and he did make that
ballot, But it's a tough process. Petitioning is harder than you would imagine
Sonnenberg go on. So right now, I don't know if anybody else that's
waiting on petitions results. There maybe a couple more. Ted Harvey chose
(32:20):
not to have a backup of petitions. He went Assembly only and did not
go very far in the Assembly. So it's going to be a five person
race. It looks like in thecoming days heading towards June twenty fifth,
who is your favorite out there?CD four, I am no longer.
For years I was in CD fourKen Buck was my congressman. Only in
(32:42):
the past session or the past jerrymanderingredistricting did I get jerry mandered out of
that district. So I will notget devoted in that race. I don't
endorse in the races anyway. Bythe way, speaking of races for Congress,
there's also a big race in CDeight, and that's going to be
between Republican Gabe Evans and Janek Joshi, who's looking to take on a Yadira
(33:07):
Caraveo, the Democrat incumbent in thatrace and on the program coming up,
I believe next eight oh five thismorning, eight o five this morning.
Janek Joshi going to be on theprogram. We had Gabe Evans on the
program last week, and I'm gonnagive Janek Joshi some time here this morning.
We'll have a conversation that's at eightoh five this morning. You don't
want to miss that. Over theweekend at tragic news in Israel as they
(33:30):
came under attack by Iran. Wetalked about this on Friday. It's interesting
to watch the developments there and what'shappening worldwide in regard to the Middle East.
We had peace in the Middle Eastabout three years ago. We had
the Abraham Accords in which places likeSaudi Arabia and Israel and other people that
would potentially be foes and opposition hadjoined together and agreed on peace in the
(33:52):
Middle East. But all of thathas now fallen apart, and it's not
a safe place out there. Verydangerous world. We live in very volatile
situations. And yeah, we'll talkabout that next hour of the program as
well. All right, everybody standby. Lakey is on the radio.
It's a Monday edition. Of theradio show Glad to have you here.
