(00:04):
front of the speakers the way thegood Lord intended it to be a glorious
day the Lord has made. Andhow's everybody doing. It's Monday. Got
a whole Yeah, I got afull work week last week. You had
a holiday in the middle of theweek before. I was off traveling to
Africa. So I got to dofive days in a row here. I
don't know if I can make itfive full workdays. Hey, but next
week we take some time off ofthe Independence Day fourth of July. Show

(00:27):
up. It'll be all right,we'll make it all right. Good to
have you here on the show. It's primary week in Colorado. You got
those ballots. If you haven't handedthem in, you got to get them
in by tomorrow evening. Get himin today. Make sure that votes get
counted. And also, don't forgetit's also debate week in America. Joe
Biden versus Donald Trump in Atlanta showdown, debate number one in the presidential presidential

(00:51):
race. That's this week as well, so a big time political week.
It will do as much as wecan to cover it and discuss it.
But also try to talk about thingsother than politics, because all politics and
no fun make Jimmy a very dullboy. So we don't want me to
be dull. So everybody, hangunder your hat. It's going to be
a busy week and we'll cover asmuch of it as we can right here
on The Laky Show six hundred KClAll right, if you want to follow

(01:12):
along on the online, all theinterviews that you hear eventually get linked up
at Jimmy Lakey dot com. JI M M Y l a k Y.
Don't forget. If you have theiHeartRadio app, you can go to
just type in my name Jimmy Lakeyand you'll see the Laky Effect podcast,
which is hour by hour interview byinterview breakdown of the show. And also

(01:33):

purpose. Make sure you listen tothat, and we got a new episode
of that dropping this week as well. But two podcasts on the iHeart Radio
app with yours truly Jimmy Lakey, and I hope you'll tune in. Just
type in my name j I MM Y l A K E y.
Aren't you got that ballad in yourhand? I just told you you got
to get that handed in. Idon't get to vote in CD four.

(01:55):
I was jerrymandered out and put inCD eight congressional listter Gate two years ago,
so I get to choose between JanetJosh and Gabe Evans. But many
of you, under the side ofmy dulcet tones are choosing between six different
candidates in CD four to take overthe seat that was abandoned prematurely by Kenny

(02:15):
Buck and deb Flora is one ofthose candidates. And debth Flora is on
the hotline. Deborah Flora dot Comis her website. Deb Welcome back to
the program. How are you.I'm doing great, Jimmy, thank you
so much for having me on today. I appreciate it. Happy Monday to
you. And yes, this isindeed a big week with the primary tomorrow
and then the debate on Wednesday,so I appreciate the opportunity to talk with

(02:38):
you and your great listeners. Welllet's dive in here. You got six
different names on that ballot. DeborahFlora is one of them, Michae Lynch,
Lauren Boulbert, Richard hold Ver.I missed some of the names,
but the fact is your name ison there for those people that maybe have
our just now looking at their ballotand go, golly, g eenie,
meanie mighty moe. Who do Ichoose of these six? Why? Deb

(02:58):
Flora? Why Deborah Flora? Well, thank you so much, Jimmy.
I appreciate it, And first ofall, I want to echo what you
were saying. Everybody, please getyour balance in. We have a record
low turnout of voters across the country, so that means your vote carries that
much more weight. And fortunately we'vehad a lot of great momentum behind our

(03:19):
campaign, so it doesn't have tobe any meanie miny vote. In fact,
I've been endorsed by numerous sheriffs, mayor city council members, veterans,
as well as the Gazette, whichhas really clearly been to indicate too many
folks that I'm the alternative vote toLauren Bobert. In many ways, what
the Gazette was indicating has come downto a two women race. And having

(03:40):
been the person that has been fightingalongside my neighbors here in CD four for
years, every voter listening gets tomake the decision. They get to choose
between more drama and dysfunction in DCor new fresh principal leadership that will unite
us and get our country back ontrack. So I'm asking for everyone's vote

(04:00):
and that they get their ballot andremember, don't mail it, drop it
in the ballot box. But there'snot time to get there by mail at
this point in time. There aresome people that I agree we need less
drama and dysfunction in Congress, allacross the board and in DC than what
we have all across America. Butthere's some people that would say no,
that drama and dysfunction. Those areactually people standing on principle and they're really

(04:21):
standing their ground. And there anybodythat doesn't believe in that type of they're
their rhinos out there. Address thatbecause there seems to be a disconnect within
the party across America, not justin Colorado, that drama and dysfunction is
somehow principal leadership explain. Yeah, thank you, that's such a great question.
The reality is I am a fireI've been a fighter from the school

(04:45):
board to the state House. Ifought for print right. School choice was
down at the border last year.I'm helping highlight why failed sanctuary city policies
and fell state sanctuary policies are notthe way to go. So I'm a
fighter, but i will fight onprinciple and policy. And the reality is
the drama and the dysfunction is notthe same as getting the work of the

(05:05):
people done. All we have todo is see the fact that the Republicans
in Congress right now are so dividedthat one of the most recent behind door
meetings, from what I understand,it ended up in a shouting match.
Punches were flown, half of themwalked out. That's not how you do
the work of the people. Andthe last time that we had the White

(05:30):
House, the Senate, and theHouse of Representatives, it was squandered.
Jimmy. That's why I've written outa very detailed plan, the Roadmap for
restoring America. I've also done amore detailed plan for the solutions at our
southern border. And the reality isthere is actually no one more conservative in
this race. I'm a constitutional conservative. The difference is this, I will

(05:51):
fight on principle. I will builda coalition needed to get our country back
on track, to secure our border, cut inflation, get our economy revitalized,
and really trim down government and holdit accountable. But what's going on
right now is not working. Allwe have to do is see the results
so that we are down to atiny majority and only one branch of government,

(06:15):
and my goal is to rebuild aparty, to grow our movement,
and to make sure we can reallyfinally do the work of the people.
It's fascinating watching these Republicans in Washington. You mentioned squandering the last time they
had the trifecta, which is truesquandering they did a lot of that was
just kind of a Trump derangement syndromeas well. But now you've got we
just watched the last couple of years. You have Speaker of the House McCarthy,

(06:39):
I thought doing a decent job.He gets ousted by Matt Gates.
Lauren bober joined with him in Austin, and they put in Mike Johnson finally,
and now there's people have buyers remorseabout Mike Johnson, almost wish they
have Kevin McCarthy back. It's thistype of dysfunctional leadership. How do you
stand out among this goofiness. Itjust seems to happen among these House Republicans
that it looks like for no gain, we ousted Kevin McCarthy because somebody said

(07:02):
we shouldn't. Yeah, you knowwhat it really comes down to, this
is principal leadership. It's not aboutgrandstanding. It's not about social media bait
and social media clicks. It's notabout any of that. It's about showing
the American people that we can actuallygovern, we can actually get the work
done. We still have a wideopen border, we still have the debt

(07:26):
growing nearly thirty five trillion dollars, growing one trillion dollars every one hundred days.
What I will bring to Congress, and I'm asking for every listener right
now, fill out your ballot please. Your vote will count even more than
usual because of low voter turnout. But what my commitment is is to making

(07:46):
sure that we don't keep dividing ourselves. We can stand on principle, but
my goal is to persuade people ofwhat are the right principles to solve the
issues that keep them up at night. People instead are interested into grandstanding and
getting social media clicks. Honestly,it does nothing to advance the work of

(08:07):
the people. And for instance, the ousting of Kevin McCarthy, we did
not have a Speaker of House fortwenty one days and during that period October
seventh, the greatest atrocities in recenthistory, really since the Holocaust occurred,
and we showed ourselves to be unableto govern ourselfle all in the country.
I would instead have said, let'swait until a break, not right before

(08:30):
a budget is due. Let's holdour speaker accountable, but let's come together
and we don't leave that room untilwe have a replacement. That's good governance
while standing on principle, That's whatwe need in Washington, d C.
The voice of Deborah Flora. She'sone of the names on your ballot if
you're voting in the CD four RepublicanRepublican primary in Colorado cdfour Deborah Flora dot

(08:54):
com, Deborah Flora flra Deborah Floradot com, Deborahs, you've been traveling
the district here kind of based wereDouglas County, but obviously it's a large
and wide district. What are theissues that you were hearing the people say?
Is is it the dysfunction in DC? Is it the southern border?
Is it inflation? What is itthat is driving I guess the people to
be interested in this race in CDfour that you've been talking to Yeah.

(09:18):
Absolutely, you know wherever I've been, and I have been all over this
twenty one county district several times becauseI believe it's important to hear the voices
of the voters, because the jobis to represent them and to be the
fighter for them that they can beproud of. And wherever I go,
the number one issue is the border. That's why I've written a very detailed

(09:39):
plan. We haven't. We hadan amazing event this week with well of
our one hundred people that showed up. We had the Douglas County Sheriff who's
endorsed me. I've been endorsed bythe Elder County Sheriff. We had the
DA, we had a former ICEofficial. So one of the number one
one of the number one concerns issecuring the border. That's why I've written
out a detail plan to finish buildingthe wall, to defund sanctuary cities that

(10:03):
lure desperate people here, overwhelm oursystems and create a magnet, and then
empower drug cartels. To increase ICEfunding and speed up deportations, to restore
the Stay in Mexico policy, andend catch and release. We can do
all of those things and then thenumber two issue that I hear is the
economy. It is time that wehave single subject appropriation bills, not these

(10:26):
omnibus spending bills that, by theway, republic and stuff as much pork
in them as Democrats do. Sowe need to have accountability there. We
need to rain in our spending andwe can do it by the way.
We can do it by making surethat we don't have infrastructure bills that really
are Evy mandate bills or Green NewDeal energy bills. Those are the two

(10:48):
most important. And then it reallyis good governance that will get back to
the constitutional principles of checks and balancesin our system. I mean, Jimmy
right now, this Congress, andLauren Bobert is a part of Congress,
has not has not created a budgetin twenty years. That's one of the

(11:09):
number one jobs unique jobs for theHouse of Representatives. I got to tell
you, I'm a mom, I'ma small business owner. I know how
to make budgets. I've served onnumerous boards for school choice and national boards
for millions of dollar budgets. Iknow how to do a budget, and
we will work to get that doneand balance it. Yeah, that for

(11:31):
years, the members of Congress thathave run have said, we're going to
get back on regular order, whichwe'll do the appropriations bills that'll come up
with a budget. And we justhaven't done that. Republicans haven't done it,
Democrats haven't done it. Twenty years. We just have continuing resolutions,
continuing this function that's up there, and that's always frustrating to me. And
I'm glad to hear you mentioned gettingback to regular order. And it's got

(11:54):
to be top priority. Oh,it has to be, without a doubt.
And then you know, one ofthe things that I would say,
by the way, about your firstquestion, as far as do I have
that fight, that grit in myspirit that stealings from my spines, you
better believe it. I mean,I've taken on the teachers' unions, who
are one of the largest, mostpowerful organizations, because it was the right
thing to do. Listeners can knowthat I will do what I say and

(12:18):
say what I do because I understandthe plumb line of what is important and
I'm not afraid to stand up andjust do what is right. But the
other side of that is effective governance, which involves building coalitions and I'm talking
about within our own party, persuadingpeople to stand together and get the work
done. It is time for newleadership, and the reality is, Jimmy,

(12:39):
if we want something different in DC, it's time we send different sorts
of people. I am not acareer politician. I'm someone who's been fighting
alongside my neighbors here in CD fourfor years. I believe in representing a
government. I believe in representing thearea where you have deep roots and you're
accountable to your neighbors, and thatis how I will continue to fight for

(13:03):
the good people of this district realquick before we run short on time.
Her website is Deborah Flora dot com. I don't endorse in primary races.
I don't even get a vote inthis race. But our friend John caldera
friend of the program, will RickCarno. There's so many other Center friends
of this show that have endorsed you. That speaks highly to meet John and
Maria Castillo, their son which oneof the stems shooting. So you've got
a long list of endorsements. Peoplecan look that up at your website,

(13:24):
Deborah Flora dot com. You mentionedreal quickly you're not a career politician.
How do we know that Deborah Florais not going to get changed by going
to d C. Oftentimes that happens, and a lot of times that happens
because suddenly you find yourself in DCfor decades and decades and decades. It
becomes a career even though you're nota career politician. Now, I'll let
you address that. You got it. Number One, I took a term

(13:46):
limits pledge. I do believe we'vegot to get back to the founding idea
of what representatives are supposed to be. Number One, they're public servants.
They are not far removed from thevery laws their path, and it's one
of the reforms I want to beimplemented in the House of represent You live
under the law that you pass, whether it's a healthcare program, whether it
is transparency. So there's no youknow, becoming rich and wealthy based upon

(14:11):
whatever legislation you pass. And thereason why they can know that won't happen
is because I'm going for one reason, I'm not looking this as my next
career step, which is what happenswith career politicians. I'm not looking at
this as business as usual because I'vegotten used to that kind of just you
know how background deals are made.I'm going for one reason. I'm a

(14:33):
mom our kids, they're nineteen andtwenty. I believe in the beauty of
this country. I've seen the alternativein the so Union, East Germany,
across the border in far As,Mexico, and I will do everything within
my ability to make sure that ourchildren, your children and grandchildren and here
at the same country that we wereblessed to be given. And that's my

(14:54):
plumb line, and ultimately, Jimmy, at the end of the day,
my plumb line is I'm accountable toGod, who who gave us our rights,
to the constitution that codifies them, and to the people of this district
for whom I will work. Thatis my accountability and I will be very
present. My favorite thing actually ishearing from voters because my job is to

(15:15):
represent them. And that's why Ibelieve in representing where you've been living,
working and fighting alongside your neighbor foryears, not jumping across the other side
of the state because you want tostay in power, but literally where you
are accountable. So that's my ultimateaccountability. Deborah Flora dot com. You

(15:35):
can find her on the website. If you have that CD four ballot,
then you can come back and listento this interview. It'll be up at
my website here in just a moment. But Deborah Flora dot com one of
the names of six that are onyour ballot. You've got to make a
decision by tomorrow. Deborah Flora, good luck to you tomorrow. I hopefully
maybe we'll see maybe Wednesday morning willcircle back and you'll be looking at the
next phase of a campaign. Iwould be honored by that, Jimmy,

(15:58):
and I just want to stay onceagain, every voter, please, anyone
you know who hasn't voted, pleasemake sure everyone gets their ballot in.
With record low voting churnout across thecountry, every vote now has even more
weight, and I would be honoredto earn your vote. Thank you,
and thank you Jimmy for having meon this show. I greatly appreciate it.
