You can tell it's a Monday. You could tell it's
a Monday. Hey. Of course, Battle and Barbecue it's back
again this year. Such a great event that's going on
for people who've been living under a rock. Tell us
what Battling Barbecue is.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Basically Battling Barbecue we started in twenty eighteen. It's basically
a nonprofit organization that basically tries to raise funds for
local families whose children are battling cancer. So we usually
pick one or two every year from someone from the
Coastal Bend. And so this year we have a twelve
year old girl from Corpus RISCy named Nyla, and she
has had leukemia since twenty twenty three and is still
(00:49):
going through the process. But she's strong and she's mighty
and we're just glad to have her in her family.
And so basically this weekend. We have a barbecue competition
coming up. It's got a you know we have We've
got barbecue, we've got cornhole, we've got wrestling bands, all
that good stuff. And it's free admission. You don't have
to pay anything to get in at all.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
Okay. So where is this going to be located at.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
It's going to be at Anno Simmons Park and Ingleside.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
Okay, okay, if you've never been to Ingleside, that park,
there's actually a pretty beautiful park. And I remember going
last year and the year before and on. One thing
that kind of impressed me was the pro wrestling that
you actually had wrestlers there doing a bunch of matches there.
In fact, one was like a Battle Royal at one
year or something like that. Are you guys doing that
again this year? Every year?
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Man? I love it. I mean I have a lot
of people that love it, even some adults. You know.
So the wrestling starts at noon and ends at too.
So if you want to watch the wrestling, get there
by noon because they go at it and it's fun. Man,
it's a really good time.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Okay. So in the on the barbecue competition, tell us
some of the categories that are in what type of meats?
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Okay, so the meats are going to be so basically
it's a CBA sanction. The meats are going to be
it's gonna be your chicken, it's gonna be ribs, pork
and brisket, and meals have jackpot beans and jackpot chef's
choice and uh so, like I said, that is basically
the teams would start Friday if they want to start
