shine a light on him. I'm gonna be a full disclosure.
Today is Friday. Okay. We were out late last night,
too late, and we will discuss that. And about last night.
(02:35):
I said when I went out last night, I said,
I'm not doing shots. I'm not doing any of those
things right, And as soon as I stepped into the restaurant,
Louisvie says, shots for everybody. Now that's a good discussion
right there. All right, we're up with Angela year eight
hundred two ninety one fifty. Who do you want to
shine a light on? Call us up. We want to
(02:56):

all right, and so it's yeah, oh yeah, that's what
we do. So what we do here is we shine
(03:16):
a light on somebody doing something positive. And I know
you know, because you know you hear the show all
the time. So who do you want to shine a
light on today, Louis Vie. Today, I'm going to shine
a light on my little brother out in Charlotte. Name
is Jeremiah. He turned eighteen years old. Time. Wow, Jeremiah,
Jeremiah Jeremiah or Jeremiah Jeremiah Jeremiah like Jeremiah. Okay, what's
he named after? Jeremiah? Something my dad was talking about
(03:38):
in the Bible. I don't know. Okay, all right what
happy birthday? Eighteen is a big deal. It is a
happy birthday. Remember what you were doing at eighteen? I
was in college. Yeah, I was a sophomore in college.
You are a sophomore in college. Ten in college when
I was seventeen. Oh okay, all right, I feel behind.
I feel behind too. Well, you know my birthday in January.
(04:00):
It's on the custom. So that's why I started kindergarten
at five. Okay everybody didn't. Yeah, so all right, well,
shine a light on Jeremiah. Who do you guys want
to shine a lighter on? Eight hundred two nine two
fifty one. Fifty is a number. Now, remember you guys,
just in case you don't make it through, you can
always leave a message and it'll get played during the
last word. But this is the time for you to
(04:21):
shine a light on somebody. It could be a stranger,
somebody who did something nice for you. Maybe somebody bought
around the shots for you and put it on someone
else's bills. Oh wow, the nerve of that guy, the
nerve of that person. All right, but let's see who
you want to shine a light on, victor? What's good?
How are you ladies during this morning? Good morning, we're
doing well. How are you and who would you like
to shine a light on. I'm good. I want to
(04:43):
shine the light on my wife, Monique. Let it Rodriguez, Okay,
full name, it'll name everything continue. She's an awesome woman.
She's a great mother to our three brothers. She's a
wonderful wife. She's great for putting up with me every
day and we're doing all of that and holding on
a fifth time jobs. She just started her own pillow business. Oh,
a pillow business, tell us more right. It's Mommy's Harmony
(05:06):
dot com. The website is working. You can find out
on ig and TikTok. She makes custom pillows with your
knee affirmations think based pillows. Great job. If you guys
want to check the out apolutely check her out. I
love it. I do have some custom pillows myself. We
actually have a lift service pillow you need. You need
to weigh up. I have an angela. Ye'll make that
(05:28):
way your pillars for you. You know what that We

that to her as a gift from us and from you.
Thank you so much, thank you. Hold on, Hey, Shakira,
who do you want to shine a light on? Why?
(05:49):
I want to shine a light on my brother. He's
about to go away and through some time. So I
just want to give him a shout out, just let
him know that I'm there for him. I know he's
want to make take kids, but I love him. I
want to shout out my daughter today, it's her birthday.
She's turning for her name is Parker. Oh, okay, Parker,
birthday Parker, and listen, and I'm sure he's gonna appreciate
you just being there for him. I know that's not
(06:09):
an easy thing that he has to deal with, but
at least to know that your family is supportive, that
you're gonna be there for the kids and everything, it's important. Yes,
And I love listening to you guys early in the morning.
I listened to you every day, so I'm glad I
was able to get through. Well, thank you and happy birthday, Parker.
Happy birthday, Parker. Thanks girls. All right, Well that was
shine a light on him that was brought to you
(06:32):
by Born in Roma, by Valentino. That's what I sprits
every day when I come in here. And way up
with the Angela Ye. It's available at Macy's. That's why
I smell so good. And when we come back, we
have your yet will talk about times a list of
twenty twenty three's most influential people. See if you think
these people should be on the list, and maybe he's missing.
It's way up with the Antela Yee going way with
(06:53):
Angela Yee. They says truth in the rooms, shade to
all the gossip Angela. Alright, it's what yeup with? Angela yee,
and it is time for your yet I'm Angela ye
and Jasmine from the jazzminbrand dot com is here. Happy Friday, Angela,
(07:14):
Happy Friday. And DJ Louis V's here too. Happy Friday, ladies.
All right, well, let's start it off with the Time
list of most Influential People for twenty twenty three. One
hundred people on the list. I want to see if
you guys agree, who are some people you think should
be on this list? Oprah, Beyonce, Doja Cat, you can't
(07:35):
forget Tyler Perry, It's okay, South Perry. Yeah, I don't
know if all those people are on here, but I'll
tell black people. I'll tell you who is on here
that we said. Doja Cat? Okay? All right? She made
it as a pioneer. They said she cannot be boxed in,
and she's been unpredictable, exceptionally gifted at stirring the pot.
(07:57):
She's a rapper or singer, performance artist. She's the cam
this on which she expresses a character or an idea. Okay. Also,
by the way, she just did a kill Bill remix.
I saw she posted to Scissor at Scissors siss I
did something bad, and siss And said, Jesus, what is it?
And then here's a little snippet of that. I'm okay,
(08:18):
I like that. And you see Dojakat says she about
to be just a rapping from that one. I think everybody,
everybody in here was not in different when the song
comes on and it's just a reckless song, we're not
really not like that. But when she starts flowing, Yeah,
it's nice that, you know. She was originally supposed to
be on the song um Shirt on Scissor's album, but
she had a procedure done her tonsils or whatever, and
so she couldn't. Okay, so they may also have him. Yeah,
(08:41):
and everybody wants to work with Scissor, Let's be clear
about that too. I saw a little Dirk posted at
Sis of the Goat. Y'all better not sleep or get blind.
Every female, every car, every sale, she really hurt. I
need you on my album asap, A hit, not a
regular song. And then he asked people to please tag
siss and let her know. I'll hear a campaign, all right.
Other people who made the um you know, Michael B.
Jordan's okay, Drew Barrymore, Ali Wang made the list and
(09:05):
she's starring in Beef that's on Netflix. Now. Remember I
told you that's a that's a great series. And Judy
Blue made the list. Zoe Saldana, let me see, Steve Lacy. Okay,
so interesting, So shout out to everybody that made it
on here, m Jennifer Coolidge, mister Beast made the list.
Vladimir thinks the president shouldn't be on the list, Joe Body,
I'm sorry, Louis. Louis thinks the president should be the list,
(09:28):
Vladimir Sorry, sorry, okay, all right, DJ vlad Vladimir and sorry.
Angela Bassetts on the list. Elon Musk of course, and yes,
Beyonce made the list. That's not a surprise. Gerard Carmack.
Gerard Carmichael made the list as well. I forgot about him. Okay,
that's cool, all right now, Um, this is something that's personal.
(09:50):
But Wu Tang is going on tour with NAS and
day Lass has been announced as the opener. So they're
doing a North American tour together. Okay, so shout out
to all of them. I would go to that they're
gonna actually be doing a hometown show in New York
City at the Barclays also, but you can see all
of those dates listed. That should be a good one
to start to Nashville, Tennessee September twentieth and it ends
October twenty second in Highland, California. Okay, are you gonna go? Yes,
(10:14):
I am at in my feature. I was in a video,
you know what I'm saying. So we heard a lot
of video, a lot of videos, all right. Now Cameron
is facing a copyright law suit. This is different. Okay,
I heard about this now. The photographer back in two
thousand and three, he took an iconic picture of him
and his pink outfit, remember that outfit, everybody with the
pink fur and everything right, and according to the photographer,
(10:37):
camera and use that picture in various pieces of dip
set merchandise without giving her permission. So she filed a
complaint in court on Tuesday her Billboards report and claimed
that he also that Cameron also posted her photography on
social media to promote his merchandise and use that photo
without authorization. So that's what that's about. That's interesting that
(11:00):
it's a picture of you. Happens all the time. But
you can't use a picture of yourself because you don't
own the right the photographer can get. I see a
lot of celebrities do complain about that. Yeah, I can
see why. You're like, it's a picture of me, why
can't I use my own image? And you took it
without asking? Yeah, that's the part that stuff. Yeah, that
you take you don't have permission to take my photo,
(11:21):
but you take my photo and then you don't have right,
So then they can Can they put that out then
even though it's your image? Yeah they can't, right, Yeah,
but they didn't even ask, even your likeness. Yeah, all right,
well that is your Yet when we come back, we
have about last night, and since all three of us
were out last night, you can talk about what we did.
And it features Miguel on the Way Up with Angela yee. Yeah,
(11:46):
so at last night last night. Yes, it is way
Up with Angela yee. I'm Angela ye. And Jasmine from
the Jasmine Brand is here yes, and Louis v DJ
Louis V is here ye. What is the V stand
for Vladimir? Yes? Where does it Louis come from? Real?
(12:10):
When I was DJM back in the day, when I
first started. That's when like the big time of the
number was wearing all that Louis Vatton and all that
stuff back in North Carolina, South Carolina, South Carolina, back
in the day. I met him in North Carolina, Okay,
and I figured when people saw that, they looked at
it and said that was an expensive taste. So for me,
I was like, all right, well, how can I take that?
And when people come and hear me play, I wanted
(12:32):
it to be an expensive sound for them, so you
get what you paid for. But thank goodness, Louis v
still holds its value. Lbma's number one selling brand, followed
by I'm just gonna take a picture of you make
some shirts. I'm gonna all right, well, right now we
have about last night, So we talk about what we
did last night that we feel like it is important
(12:53):
to bring to the airways. And we actually um went
to a dinner for me gal. Now before the dinner
there there was a listening session. I was here in
the studio, so I did not make that. But what
was Miguel's new album sounding like really really good, like
he's he's in a he's in a space. How he
explained it, he wished like those five to six years
(13:14):
ago where he was, you know, just getting out of
the space that he was in. And just like timeless music.
I heard some me guel you know right now, just
vibing out to it. Okay, so is it R and B?
I heard its like has kind of a rock feel
to it, Yeah, a rock slash R and B. You know, vulnerable.
You know he went in, he went in his bag
(13:35):
like that's because he's been away for a minute. Right, So, yeah,
a lot of talk about, like I said, six years,
that's that's a long time. I know, I don't even
feel like it's been that long. It feels like I
feels like a long time because remember maybe because we
played the song so much, so like how many drinks
this one right here? Many drinks? So the main thing
I want to talk about, though, is this dinner that
(13:57):
happened because I was there for that. Okay, we were
I missed a child and as soon as we walked in,
shot shot shots. Right, yeah, it was shot a clock.
That's not my idea shot a clock. But I say,
who is paying for others? Now? Louisvia, you were ordering
shots as soon as you walked in? Who was that
was late. That was a late shot. Now my thing
is people do this right, yes, when they don't have
(14:19):
to pay the bill. I used to have a friend
that every time he went out, she would order shots right,
and I would end up paying for everything, and not
just regular shots. She'd be like, nineteen forty two, everybody,
but you don't even know who I'm talking about. Of
course I know who you're talking about, all right, but
she would be like, everybody, nineteen forty two, let's get this,
(14:41):
let's get that, but never want to pay for anything.
And she would do that even if, like there was
a guy present that was gonna pay for everything. She
would like overly order, And I always think that's rude,
Like if someone else is paying, and I know someone
else is paying, I don't go overboard. Like I'm not
gonna order nineteen forty two. I'm not gonna order closs
a zula. You know, if they like get something, I'm
gonna just watch the like you know, it's a lax.
(15:03):
I think it's really yeah, you know to do that,
what do y'all think? Then it's trifle, Okay, I'm just
saying that because you order the shots. So he thinks
he thinks he thinks he's trifling. I mean, I wasn't
the friend she was talking about him. But in all fairness,
(15:26):
LEVI would still have done that even if he was paying. Yeah,
that's how he is. And that's the thing, you know
what I'm saying. But sometimes people do things that they
wouldn't do unless someone else is paying. Like they're gonna
come out and order like the most expensive stuff. They're
gonna order the shot to nineteen forty two, they're gonna
keep it going, they're gonna take a doggie back to
go all of those things because they know they're not
(15:46):
paying her. And I just think that's rude. Now, like
family members, Yeah, well my family wouldn't do that. My
dad is always like, oh this is too expensive. No,
we can't do this is too expensive. We're not paying
for the no, no drinks. Like that's how my dad
is when I'm paying the bill. But yeah, so I
just wanted to point that out to people. It is Friday.
I know you're all about to go out. Just be
mindful and don't let people take advantage of you when
(16:08):
that bill comes. I had to do this to this
person one time. I had to close the bill down
without her knowledge, and then she ordered another round of
shots and I was like, sorry, yeah, I paid my bill.
Act like you've been somewhere before. All right, clearly she's
been there last night. And when we come back, we
have tell us a secret. Maybe you're that person and
you want to tell us a secret, but it's anonymous
(16:29):
and it's no judgment, so we are not gonna judge you.
Eight hundred two nine fifty one fifty is a number.
That's eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty. Call
us up, tell us a secret, Way up with Angela Ye,
this is a judgment freeze one. Tell us a secret, Yes,
it is way up. Put Angela Yee on a Friday,
tell us a secrets on Fridays always tend to be
(16:50):
a little crazier for some reason. But it's spicy. I'm
Angela Yee. This is Jasmine from the Jasmine brand dot Com.
DJ Louis V is here with us listening to these secrets. Louisa,
you have a secret you want to tell us? Nope,
there's no judgment, no judgment. I know, I know. I'm
on the both of you too. Well I'm cool on that.
Not today. All right, Well, this is where but no
(17:11):
judgment and anonymously tell us a secret and m yeah,
and sometimes it feels really good to get it out there.
And there's good secrets, there's bad secrets, and there's a
legal secrets anything. Yes, you have remember that one secret? Yes,
And both y'all looked at me like I was crazy.
Oh my god, but we didn't judge you. You Oh,
(17:32):
I was so wild. My favorite ones is a guy
called in and stole a car but would not admit
that he stole a car and it bothered him and
it happened like in the nineties. Yeah, and he called
and totally and it's been bothering him ever since. So
sometimes telling that secret will will help you release that
into the atmosphere. So now you guys do it. Eight
(17:53):
two nine fifty one fifty Anonymous carl Er tell us
a secret. Hi, my secret. I am pregnant. Congratulations, Congress,
thank you. This is very new. Um, I've been trying
for a long time. Me my boyfriend, and I haven't
told anybody yet. Oh. We are so honest to know. Okay,
(18:15):
so what are you going to tell your boyfriend? Um,
I'm confusing. I'm gonna tell him this weekend. Oh, that's
so excited. Yes, he's going to be very excited. How
did you, Um, did you get pregnant? Like did you
have to do IVF or anything or I know you
said yeah it had. It was basically just you know,
(18:37):
kind of a masking. You know, we've been trying for
about a year. UM. We did lose one early on
um when after we started training. UM. And so now
I'm just really excited that even happened. And then I'm
far enough along I don't really think that I have
to worry news, okad, So now it's time to tell
him so that he doesn't, you know, get it hard.
(18:59):
Way for making so nice and I know you cannot
wait to tell him now you think he knows because
you know, sometimes I could you could look at I've
had friends that have been pregnant and I've been like,
she's pregnant, you know what? Right? I know it's really
hard because I don't know they's been like sometimes I'm
just like really tired, and he's like he's like he's
(19:21):
came a little bit away and I'm just like, shut up, no,
I have not anything up. Well, congratulations and thank you
so much for sharing that amazing secret congrat congratulations. Of course,
thank you for letting me. Thank you so much. I
really appreciate you guys being my my first time saying
it out. Wow, I love that. Thank you. We're so
(19:43):
excited for you. Of course, thank you, thank you so much.
All writing out of miss College. Tell us a secret. Hey,
what's going on? How you go on? Good morning? And
Louis Vie is here too, being non judgmental, Louis going on.
I can't believe I got through. What's going on? Brother?
So what's your secret? All right? I'm so Georgia right,
(20:04):
and my secret is that I had sex with a
very prominent artist. You know what I'm saying. And I
go ahead and goes go ahead to say as much
as like your grandma went an artist you've in Georgia
Coup who we used to go doing little but thing
and like she just told me, she was like, I
(20:25):
want to see you in the shower. I was like what,
So I took a shower and after that everything got
popping like we've been. And then we went to the
little tour bust or whatever. She had all our little
security guards around like watching it was crazy artist that
security guards tour bust everything. I mean, like you, you
(20:48):
ain't got rid about living? I still live, but like
I put it down, Oh okay, you put it down.
Did y'all get exchange information? Nah? Because I already knew that.
I was kind of like after that. Okay, well, congratulations,
you got a great story to tell, right, I want
to know who it is? All right? Well, thank you
(21:10):
for sharing? Oh yeah, good one? Could it be what's abnonymous?
Carl tell us a secret? My friends a year decided
to get two of my two hoop sneaky leek and
come clean about Mantonille over the year, So I cut
her off such times, all mutual friends everything. So I'm
(21:34):
you know, I was gonna let it go until I
went across one of her exits that she was craziest
hell over and I felt like it was an opportunity
to go ahead and take his ass through there because
you did it to me, and I feel like my
one against your too. Hey, I feel like it's all right.
So it might not be a speaker, but you ain't
(21:54):
gonna never know for me. Now, let me ask you this,
how was it though? Did you enjoy it? Do you
actually like it him? Because because that's the best revenge. No,
I definitely did not like him. I even let him
know that he was my mission back. He was here,
but he got a big as. It's all right, but
(22:15):
something worked out. But thank you for sharing again, no judgment.
Let me Why are you looking horrified because you hear
you hear these stories that women do these things, but
there's no judgment. No, it's no judgment. But you know
it's always amongst y'all. Y'all don't really tell men. So
to hear a woman say yeah, I did it and
(22:35):
it would get back right, and and I let him know.
I definitely, But you didn't like it, that's the trifling part. No,
I didn't like it. Yeah, she didn't like it. Yeah,
she liked She enjoy herself. She said she didn't. You
said you didn't like it. No, I didn't like him.
Oh but she just didn't like him. You can still
(22:59):
have a good time. Say, that's another thing. That's another
misconception that women can. You have to like somebody to
enjoy sex. She ain't like them, but she enjoyed the sex. Right, Okay,
that's all right. Well that was tell us a secret.
And when we come back, we have yet we'll be
talking about Love Is Blind Season four. The finales are
airing today and Sunday is the reunion will give you
(23:20):
some details, plus maybe you want to be on it.
It's way up with Angela yeet news that relates to you.
These stories are flying under the radar. Yes, it's way
up with Angela ye. I'm Angela yee. And Jasmine from
the Jasmine brand dot Com is here all right, and
DJ Louis v is here. Sorry, Angela was drinking. I
saw she said. It's shaking like, oh man, I'm supposed
(23:42):
to be talking. It's Friday, and it's a true Friday.
It doesn't say that much. I'm struggling. All right, Now,
let's do these under the radar stories. These stories are
not necessarily headline news, but we feel like you should
know about them. So imagine this man just being generous,
that's throwing one hundred all of bills from his car window.
He wants to just help people. That was his whole plan.
(24:06):
He threw out about two hundred thousand dollars bless others.
Isn't that nice? Why I didn't get blessed? Well, the
problem is that that money was not just his. It
was a shared bank account. With his relatives and now
he's left them all broke. The family of Colin Davis McCarthy,
who's thirty eight years old, told Oregon State Police that
he drained their shared bank accounts to fund this stunt,
(24:27):
and he later told troopers that he did give out
about two hundred thousand dollars in total. There were dozens
of bystanders grabbing the cash. It was almost completely gone,
of course, and they said people did a pretty good
job of cleaning all the money up. He was not
charged with the crime. He was not cited, but officers
consider consider doing that because of the dangers that it
caused on the road. He was on the highway, And so, yeah,
(24:50):
I guess I don't know why take out the shared money.
The fact that all you said it was why the highway?
Why clean out the bank account and just throw money
out the window? Imagine sharing a bank account with somebody,
and then may you find out that they did this. Now,
the family does want people who found the cash to
(25:11):
return it. House really on the highway and did a
pretty good job cleaning up. That was a blessing though
the people that got the money. Yeah, do you think
he's gonna get a blessing in return, Well, the family
is now penniless. Oh man, I don't know why your
whole family would have a shared bank account though either.
Yeah you know, so, I mean like I'm not sharing
(25:33):
a bank account with my whole family. Just sound like
the whole family is just not don't have it together,
all right. International flights are already seventy five percent booked
for the summer, according to Delta. So listen, you already
know things have been very expensive, so this summer, just
make sure whatever you do, one of the things you
might want to try is traveling someplace that's not so
(25:56):
well gone to, Like don't go to Paris or London
because those flights are kind of booked up and really expensive.
When I was watching the news this morning, they were
saying Portugal, it's a good alternative of a place to
go that's inexpensive. That's beautiful too. Another place. I got
a friend of mine us in Turkey right now, Okay, okay,
he said round trip. Was like, yeah, so I think
if you're planning a trip and you haven't done it yet,
(26:18):
maybe you're not going to Paris all right. Artificial intelligence
has taken phone scams to another level. A mom in
Arizona says that scammers use AI to clone her daughter's
voice so they could demand a one million dollar ransom
from her as part of a terrifying new voice scheme.
She said she had no doubt that it was her daughter.
(26:40):
Oh okay, And according to she said, she got a
call from an unfamiliar phone number. She said she almost
let it go to voicemail, and then she remembered that
her fifteen year old daughter, Bree was on a ski trip.
So she answered the call to make sure everything was okay, okay,
And when she answered, a man's voice said, tell Bree
to put her head back and lie down. A man
get on the phone. He said, I got your daughter.
(27:00):
And her daughter was yelling mom and crying and she's like, mom,
I messed up. And she was sobbing and crying and
this was an artificial intelligence voice. Oh my gosh, all right.
Initially he asked for one million dollars. He then ended
up lowing the money to fifty thousand dollars to have
the money. Yeah. So fortunately they did find their daughter
(27:22):
and she was safe and sound on the skiing excursion.
Having no idea what was going on. This is getting
out of control. Yeah, and this is a happening. Music
labels are nervous about people using AI. Now what voices?
What if back in the day this was available when
the teachers called you home, that would be perfect. Somebody
(27:42):
did this to me too, by the way, and they
did it to you too, Jasmine. They called and they
want you to donate money. Oh yes, so like a
police fund. And then they asked for your credit card
information over the phone, and you could I could tell
it was like a digital kind of voice because it
kept repeating certain things. Yeah yeah, they were yeah yeah,
And she told it happened to me. And then I
told her, I said, you know that's a scam. Yeah,
(28:04):
donate to the police. I definitely wasn't. All right, Well,
that is you're under the radar stories. We got the
Way Up mix coming up at the top of the hour,
and Blue is going to be joining us. He has
an album out today, and you're gonna love this interview.
It's way up with Angela Ye. But what's up? It's
way up with Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee and Jasmine
(28:25):
from the Jasmine brand is here of course, and we
have really an amazing guest somebody who's important to me
and to the show. Shanta Lundy is here. Now. The
reason I say Shante is important to me and to
the show, it's because you were the first ever person
to say, Okay, I want to work with way up
with Angela ye before we even launched, you know, And
I do want to say I appreciate you for that.
So what made you say this is just choke my
(28:47):
own ego. But no, what I do say that this
is something that I want to be involved in before
we even started the show. You know, I'm just curious. Sure, um,
black girlson screen. We believe in champion other women. So
we're just talking about Angela herself. You were somebody that,
you know, highlighted Black Girls sunscreen early on, right, just
showcasing the product. We didn't tap you to do a
(29:10):
sponsored ad. You know, you had the product and you're like,
I wear sunscreen and I want to show off this
business and the product. So we took note of that.
Years ago, I heard about your product through Angela. We
were a vacation vacation and I was like, oh, I
have my own sunscreen. She's like, no, try this. I
was like, yeah, I want the Chalky stuff like whatever.
She's like, no, you'll be fine. I was like, okay,
So I trusted her and then I was like, oh,
okays a little chalkie so you know, oh the nerve,
(29:34):
the nerve of her. She not sued any shades off,
but anyway, but yeah, okay, but so yeah, that's how
I found out. I was like, okay, I had never
I wasn't familiar. She kind of put me on, so yeah,
and she loved it. And I think the other part
of this story is a lot people have been told, well,
if you have melanin, you don't need some block, right,
and it's important to know that, yes, you still do
(29:55):
need at least at SPF thirty. Yes. So when I
was coming up, we didn't use the word sunscreen at all.
We didn't have the product in the house at all.
So I was very unfamiliar as opposed to okay, growing
up with it, going to camp and my mother putting
sunscreen on me like my lighter skin counterparts. Right, So
(30:16):
if you are taught not to wear sunscreen, that's just
what it is until maybe you go to the dermatologist
and they recommend it. But what if you go to
the dermatologists and they're not recommending sunscreen because they're not
educated on ethnic skin, right. So there's different levels to
why we're not wearing sunscreen. A from our environment, be
from lack of professional education, and then see from a
(30:38):
big brand perspective, larger brands aren't speaking to us. So
on so many different levels, we're not even exposed to it.
And one thing that's important to me too is what's
in my product, right, because you know, we also want
to make sure that we're not using products that have
ingredients that could be harmful to us in it. So
when you designed, when you came up with how you
(30:59):
were going into make this product, can you talk about
that process? Yeah? So we were really progressive. We were
before all time. And one of the ingredients that I
wanted to eliminate was oxyben zone because it had an
effect on coral reef. This was in twenty and sixteen,
and when I was talking to my chemists about it,
he was like, no, you know, I've been doing this
for twenty years, We're gonna keep it in there. And
I'm like, no, I'm producing this, so we're gonna take
(31:21):
it out. Fast forward three four years um the industry banded. Wow.
So honestly, the ingredients is it's a story for us.
We're changing the narrative around sun safety. So we wanted
to start very kind of simplistic so everybody understood, hey,
at least I should be worrying sunscreen. We didn't want
to be ingredient heavy because we had to start from
(31:42):
the from scratch. Yeah yeah. I've had people tell me
we don't need sunscreen. Yeah yeah, and I'm like always like, nah,
I'm not trying to get skin cancer sen um. Probably
I didn't wear it when I was a kid either,
Yeah at all. Yeah, probably after I got burned. That's
what I think. That's what happened to meet was it
was like, hold on, this is I was a highchool
(32:02):
and it was only a few black Tree years. Everybody
else was white. They all will wear sunscreen some block
or whatever. And I didn't because no one had ever
told me too. And I got really burnt. And I
said to my mom, like, why you didn't tell me?
My mom is brown. She's like, well, I didn't know
I'm brown. So I just thought maybe you wouldn't have
that problem. And my mother really didn't know. We appreciate
you so much and thank you for coming because I
know your schedule is packed, but I wanted to make
(32:23):
sure we got this done. Oh my goodness, thank you
for having me. I already had plans for us, so
you know, let's do it, all right. Sean tay Lundy,
Black Girls Sunscreen Founder. Yeah, with Angela Yee. And when
we come back, we'll be talking about Love is Blind
now season four. The finale is out today, but the
reunion is going to be airing Life the first time
(32:43):
they've ever done the live reunion on Netflix on Sunday.
They're also casting for the next season, and I have
a friend who lives in DC where they are doing
the casting, and I think that she needs to be
on there. We'll talk about it more when we come back.
It's the way up with Angela Yee. All right, It's
(33:05):
way up with Angela Ye. I'm Angela Yee. And Jasmine
from the Jasmine Brand is here. Yeah. CJ. Louisvie was
here earlier, but he had to catch his flight back
to Atlanta where he works. A great time with him
today and I heard, okay, so I hate to have
to to bring this to you, Jasmine, but Love is
Blind is looking for singles in DC. Yes, okay, Now
(33:29):
I was thinking this might be a good opportunity for you.
They posted a casting call for singles, and locals from
the DMV area specifically have not been responding the way
that they should, right. Okay, So people are making jokes
about that they're actually using LinkedIn to recruit people. Wow
for Love is blind DC. So we need y'all to
(33:50):
go ahead and be on that show. But I want
to talk about because a lot of times people will say, well,
how do I find love? And you know, don't look
for love, let it look for you. Well, I did
a deep dive on what though, what did you? Go? Ahead,
I'm I'm waiting for you. Tell me what you did
to try to help you, Jasmine? Thank you? Okay, So
this came from the Today Show. Okay, and this is
(34:12):
rules for building a long lasting relationship. Okay. So one
that you'll find love when you're not looking approach may
be wrong, according to relationship experts. For the most part,
people who wait for a job, for example, are unemployed. Okay.
And that's how I always say, right, if you're really
intentional that you want to find somebody, you do have
to make an effort, just like you were looking for
(34:33):
a job. And I've always said that too, So you
have to put the effort into find somebody all right now.
One reason why I think Love is Blind could be
good for you, Jasmine, In particular, one of the rules
they say is to look up from your phone. A
lot of times people are so focused on what's happening
on their devices that they're not even looking around and
seeing what's happening. And on Love is Blind, while you're
(34:54):
dating in those pods, you don't you don't have your
phone right, so you're not on your phone, so all
you can do is sit and have these dates and
conversations with people, Okay. Also it tells you to understand
your own needs. Do you need a lot of space?
Do you need a lot of affection? Do you have
to know what's going on all the time. Whatever your
style is, it's okay, but you need to know it
(35:15):
and be able to communicate it to your future spouse.
And then you can train each other if you both
know what you need, like how to respond to you.
And I feel like the conversations they have in there
in those pods are really them, Like what Jasmine, I
feel like, are you really trying to convince me to
do this. I already actually submitted for you. You a lie.
(35:36):
Why are you not laughing back? I'm not laughing what y'all? Yeah,
we already submitted for you. Actually are Producer Dan brought
this to me first Angela, and I was like, this
to be amazing for way up with Angela if Jasmine
was on Love is Blind? All right. Also know the
difference between fooling around and building a real relationship. You
can mess around with anyone if you're careful and have
safe sex, but before you bring someone into your life
(35:58):
or share money or living space, meant that they are
bringing baggage, yes, and that the person you're dating is
on their best behavior in the beginning. That's true. Yeah,
so we always know that. What do they say? It's
their representative. Everyone says that in the beginning. So those
are just Oh and one more thing I want to
tell you, Okay, don't seek romance, seek partnership. Romances for dates,
(36:19):
and it's fun to have an accage on occasion in
your marriage, but it's a partnership that we'll get you
through the rough times, right, It's a team effort. I
always say that too. When you're in a relationship with somebody,
it's a team effort. Don't look for somebody who sweeps
you off your feet. That indicates a control freak and
you won't like what happens later. Look for someone who
likes give and take, who seeks your opinion and considers it,
and who cares about what you want to Okay, all right,
(36:41):
all right, so let's hope that they hit us back. Yeah,
absolutely not doing that, because again Love is blind. Today
you can see the final episodes and see who actually
does end up getting married. And on Sunday is the
live reunion episode. I feel like it's going to be
very juicy that I can't wait till you're on the
next season. He's so funny. All right, Well, it is
(37:03):
a Friday, and we do have new music coming out today,
as you already heard, and we have a very special
guest joining us. He actually has an album out today,
Love Scars Too. Young Blue aka Blue, I'm used to
calling him Young Blue. He just goes by Blue now.
Super talented artist, but he's also not doing a lot
of interviews, so we're really excited for him to come
up here and kind of talk about everything that happened
(37:25):
with this process. With this album, how he feels about
the music business in general and his sex doll. All right,
it's Way Up with Angela Ye. Young Blue is up next,
Julie is back to set off your workday. What's up?
It's way up at Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee, and
Jasmine from the Jazmine brand is here and we have
a really kind of like my friend Blue. It's here
(37:47):
with us. All right, it's gonna make sure. But welcome
to the new studio, Welcome to Way Up with Angela Ye.
And by the way, you came to the launch party
for Way Up with Angela Ye, which I really appreciate.
I was excited. Yeah I did. I really did. Though
it was packed. He brought thank you rap up Now.
It wasn't surprised because I didn't know you were coming. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
(38:09):
I was shooting that day. And then uh, it was
like Angela Angela got eend up. I'm like, oh, I'm
definitely going to pop up. That's a good feeling because
I honestly like barely go out, especially not to parties,
and so for me to do something and see like
all the love and support that I got and you know,
all the surprises. So I just want to thank you
(38:30):
for that. Oh yeah, but people really for you too,
you know, and you got the new album coming out
and we're excited for this one, Love Scars Part two.
So um, toxic? Why do people? Why do people like toxicity?
(38:51):
So don't say it's toxic. I just say it's the
blue that you know what I'm saying my core fans. Yeah,
even the titles are a little like, what's the dumbast
thing you feel like you've done in a relationship? I
mean it's probably be jib. When I first got in
the relationship a man. Now, when we first got together,
(39:11):
I was still like, you know, trying to dip in
and dabbing with my first baby mama, like the first
couple of months. You know what I'm saying, Because that's
not smart, because you know it's gonna all come to
a head at some point. Yeah, but I could it
all though. We've been together eight years and I really ain't,
you know what I'm man, Because Bill with somebody feel like,
you know, years and then you go to a new situation.
(39:32):
It's kind of like that left over lust from that
situation and then but a lot of times you gotta
get out of your system, because you probably think that
was the way I really got over that situation though,
because I was like, once I did it, I was like,
I ain't feeling nothing. So I was like, yeah, it's
really over, you know what I'm saying. You know, I
just did it just to see it. I didn't even
feel it was left over lunch. I don't even make
(39:54):
sure I had no left over LUs like, boy, if
you don't get out of here. I saw you doing
country music. Have you always liked country music? Because you
have a country music artist signed to you as your
first artist, I'm moon boy. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I
got Kirt's on side to me. I just signed him.
I ain't never really like got it to country music
until I heard him, you know what I'm saying, singing it.
(40:15):
And I was like, hain't like like me singing country music,
you know what I'm saying. I was like, it just
made me love it because I was loving what I
heard from him and how he mixed it together. I
was like, oh, yeah, broke a show like a star,
you know what I'm saying. So you know what I'm
like about that too, because there's been like country music
we've seen all the drama with them not wanting black
(40:35):
artists to get these awards and the things that like
say a little nas X had to go through. But
then we've seen a lot of us infiltrating, like Nully
and things like that. So I love to see a
black person, you know, doing country music, and you know,
everything we enter into we kind of take it over. Yeah,
because we started, We started it. We started country music,
you know what I'm saying. So somehow it don't seem like, yeah,
(40:58):
it's a lot of people don't give credit was due.
But I feel like as black people, we so musical,
we could do anything. And when I posted that snippet
of me just doing the country, it was literally like
we had just gotten the studio to get I was like,
let me write some It was like the first thing
I thought of, you know what I'm saying as soon
as I heard the beat, and I just was like,
(41:19):
man record me. And I was just book just singing.
It is just going viral like you know that. But
we really recorded the song though, and it's gonna I
probably gonna this add this album. I'm gonna start we
probably I'm probably gonna make the my artists first single
and we're gonna get to push in some different different
genres again. Young Blue aka Blue is in the building.
(41:40):
So its moo Ball University open yet it opened in June. Okay,
all right, So that's gonna be production facility. That's gonna
be um TV production on. So can you break it
all down for us? I got my label is gonna
be my label headquarters. It's gonna be my production company.
You know, we're doing like merchant stuff, just the whole.
(42:01):
I really turned my old old house in department. I
just built into my whole business facility and I moved
scare foot, you know what I'm saying of just production.
It's in Georgia. You were just talking about feeling pressure,
you know, in terms of putting out a project. How
long did this take and did you feel only pressure
(42:23):
to ain't? Like yes, the latest project? How long did
that take? And did you feel any pressure carry up
and put it out with me? I feel like when
I said that I ain't gonna lie. I wrote some
of the biggest songs in my career, like in fifteen Men.
Everybody ain't like that, you know what I'm saying. Everybody
really like that? Like I could really go in the
studio in a month and come out with a fire
at album like Love Scuds Won, Blue Out of Blue
(42:46):
vandrow Series, the investment series that I came up on
and got my name out for all that was done
like a couple of months, and I like, I got
them classic songs in my catalog, you know what I'm saying. So,
but I'm saying for like other people who like not
really just so inclined to that, they still feel the
pressure to put music out so fast because they don't
want the world to change on them because it's so
(43:06):
much you know what I'm saying. So that make them
like just going the studio they put that out. You
know what I'm saying, for my buds out. You know
what I'm saying. Yeah, it's like it's not good put
it out, you know what I'm saying. And then it's
like that's when you come up with microwave because they
just don't get whether or not how hard you go,
(43:27):
it's gonna change. Like it's gonna change. But you gotta
look at this too many ways to blow up. Now.
I ain't gonna lie. I've just been in the whole
different bag. It's stressed me out when I even talk
about music. But I even talk about music these days.
You know what I'm saying, I don't even like it. No, yeah,
that's what it feels like. Yeah, I'm not saying I
don't like it. I love music business behind, Yeah, I
(43:47):
don't like the new wave of like where things going
with the music. You know what I'm saying. I feel
like it's not fun anymore, y'all. I love it I'm
making I just want to get to this point and
then it's not what you thought. Yeah, it's just not fun.
I'm not saying it's not like I love. I'm able
to take care of my family. I love, I'm able
to like put other people own, put other people in position.
(44:10):
You know what I'm saying. They just do all the
things I want to do. But just as far as
the fun of actual music, is just too much negativity
around music now. Everything you post people like, it's just negative, negative, negative,
negative negative, to the point you just be like, man, like,
I don't even want to put none of my life
out anymore. I'll drop a new song, don't postpone what
(44:33):
y'all think. You feel like, I don't even want to
read that, bro, Like I don't want to read that.
I want to see. I want to put it out
and hear what my fans think. Yeah, Blue, it is here,
love skirts too, it's out today. We got some more
with him when we come back. It's way up with
Angela yee. What's up? It's way up with Antela yee
(44:56):
and young Blue is here? And random question, do you
still have that sex doll? I got no more? Ya?
Can you get some context for when people got our
lift service right? He admitted that he didn't put a
sex doll, and it warmed up at one time and
it didn't feel I had a temperature to it. It
was pick a warm up and it was heavy war
about it. That's how he wouldn't cheat. I bought the
(45:17):
sixth robot one time. I say for about one time.
I don't know. I don't know that week I was
just keep a robot bro. I ain't gonna lie. It
just ain't feel right. It felt like I was bad
about it. He's so mad. He told y'all that I
know he is man. That's just that's the world. Yeah, nah,
you know the man the world you see it's funny. Yeah,
(45:39):
it was funny, like you knowing anything I talked about,
anything I talked about is up in the air, like
if it's it's out there up you Uh, you make
a lot of money and so you sometimes sometimes yeah,
you do pretty well. What's the best investment you've made
thus far? This facility I just did. It's caused like
(46:01):
seven thousand dollars to book it for one day. You
know what I'm saying, It's already like booked out, Like
oh that's great, like two months, two months, three months
in and I ain't even really like just put it
out there yet done. So that's like a word. So
you know what, you put two thousand just a month
just on that. Now, when it comes to your label,
I feel and people have been saying this right, they
(46:22):
feel like artists aren't getting to the development that they
used to get. So what's the process. It's gonna be
like a motown situation of people are gonna be getting
like media training? Is it gonna be you know, choreography?
Since you have this facility and you're gonna have all
these resources available, what do you envision I envisioned I
gotta like I said, I got like a giant conference room.
(46:44):
There were like I'm gonna have. I'm gonna have like
marketing staff, like we're gonna the idea is to instead
of having an in house staff. So we're like, I
be like, okay, we're having to meet no Friday, all
my staff off Hill, Let's meet here. We got the
studio over here, because listen to the artists we signed
it with music, Let's put together plans for him. You
know what I'm saying. We're putting together production, We're putting
(47:05):
together all these things in the same But so you
gotta have a headquarters, you know what I'm saying. So
that's important for a label, and I feel like just
figuring it out from them, like artists development. I only
sign an artists that I feel like I already got that.
You know what I'm saying. I don't sign just I
don't sign just artist moment. Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
Like I signed an artist with like not a million followers.
(47:28):
You know what I'm saying, before I signed a artim
with a million followers that like just I don't see
the real talent. I want to sign stuff that I
feel like gonna last. And my fans are like, you
know what I'm saying, Because I gotta sign you that
I gotta make a whole another fan base like you.
They probably don't even like me. That's super hard, you
know what I'm saying. Like I'm kind of strategic and
everything I do, man, but I ain't gonna lie, bro.
(47:49):
I'm hoping just to keep the same musical drive because
I've really been falling in love with this film stuff
and I don't know if it's good or bad for
the music right now. But I said, I feel like
my fans are respect and I feel like they'll respect
anything I do. I feel like film and music go
hand in hand. They do. Yeah, it do. But when
you ain't gonna lie. When I'll be filming, I don't
(48:09):
even be or my music, you know what. Like I'll
be filming, I'll just be like on that, you know
what I'm saying. I'll be focused. And but like I said,
I go then next day I want to go to
the studio. So it's like it's a love and it's
a love and hate relationship. Like I really do love music,
music my first love, but I only love it when
I'm going on tour. It that's the only time you
feel real. Other than that, it just feels like some
(48:30):
social media book and I don't really really like it
that way no more. Yeah, it's it's deep, bro, it's
the wrong time to do an interview with me. Almost serious,
I wasn't serious. Serious. Yeah, this is what I'm adding
my my career career right now. But honestly, Blue, thank
(48:52):
you so much for joining us. Love Scards Part two.
Is there a tour plans? Oh? Yeah, we're playing on
the tour right now, so I got it. Yeah, international
tour and Ican tour. I was going to go on
international tour first, but I'm gonna just do America first.
This is what I'm excited for. Well, we always appreciate
to you. You're a friend to wait up for angela
year and live service listening about to retire right here
(49:17):
we go your Blue plans to retire. Got the headline ready,
all right, but thank you so much, Flue. I appreciate you.
Don't forget Love Scars two is out. Today's to make
sure y'all stream that whole album and when we come back,
we have asked ye, you can ask us anything. We
are here to help. Eight hundred two nine two fifty
one fifty It's way up with Angela ye, Hey, everybody
(49:38):
with its relationship or career advice. Angela's dropping facts. Yes,
it's way up with Angela. Yee, it is a Friday.
Were excited? Yes, and it's time for ask ye eight
hundred two nine two fifty one fifty is a number, Nikki,
what's your question? So my question is, okay, thirst, I
want to shout out out with my girl up on
(49:59):
the west out of Chicago. Whatever y'all so okay, So
my question is, tell me how I should go about this? Right?
So my dad, like he had a few with his homeboys.
He was like, day, I'm gonna have some of my homies.
Said I'm like, okay, cool, tank me why one of
the gads walking in? And like I heard Jeff's linked
(50:21):
up with him like about two weeks before I gabled
my gas because it's new and it's like, damn, should
I tell him that we already cracked? Oh wait, your
dad's friends, my dad, my gass friends. Oh your guy
friend yeah, like my man. Yea, when you say your
(50:43):
guy friend, this is a guy you're dating? My man
his homeboy. His homeboy came through right okay, and I
had let I linked up with him like a week
before I gat with my gas and he kept looking
and giving me the ass. I'm like, man, I hope
he don't say nothing like I kin, it's like, Nikki,
(51:04):
you got you gotta tell him because you know why,
because if you don't tell him, the other guy might yea, yeah,
I was thinking, man, I was thinking that, but like,
what of people don't like I don't want to just
like fel Well, here's the thing. It happened before you
and your man hooked up. But I was like, it
was so easy because it was like a one night fan,
you know. And I don't want my dad to look
(51:27):
at me like that because I made him wait. I mean, look,
thanks having enough. That's your man and if he really
cares about you, he got to accept everything about you.
And even though you know that's his friend, I just
feel like it also will make you nervous that one
day it might come out. Yeah, and he went, oh
(51:49):
to keep getting well, you don't to get details. I
do want to say, Nikki, you ain't got to give
the details like that. It was none of that. You
could just be like, look, you know we had a situation.
I don't want to get into detail about it, but
I do know him, and I didn't want you to
hear about it from somebody else, right, I'm gonna just
tell him like when but um, if it was the
(52:11):
other way around, right and he hooked up with one
of your girlfriends, you would want him to tell you, Well,
I it was just it's just circumstantial because it's like
I just it's embarrassment. But true White, I'm gonna just
sound fool all right, good, but let us know how
it goes, very very curious. I will thank you, thank you,
nikkie bye. All right, Well that was asking when we
(52:32):
come back, we have a last word. That's when you
are calling eight hundred two nine fifty one fifty and
you get to say whatever you want to say about
today's show. Maybe you didn't get through to leave a
comment earlier. We want to hear from you. On Way
Up with Angela, ye, take up the phone tapping and
get your voice heard with the word gets the last
word on Way Up with Angela, yee? What's up? It's
(52:55):
way up with Angela Yee. It's Friday, and you know
it's time for that last word. Yes, that's what you
guys get to have the last ward. Jasmine from the
Jasmine brand dot Com is here and I'm actually heading
out to Vegas this weekend. Fun. Yes, it's the National
Association of Broadcasters. They call it the NAB the NAB Show,
and I'm actually gonna be doing a live podcast. But
(53:18):
I'm getting interviewed, Yes, and I'm getting interviewed by our
CEO at I heart Bob Pittman. It's his math and
magic stories from the Frontiers of Marketing with Bob Pittman.
It's a great podcast. That's a big deal. Angela, Yeah,
it is a big deal. Are you nervous? You know what?
Am I nervous? Not really? I think I get more
nervous when I have to interview someone than when I'm
(53:39):
being interviewed. Thought that makes sense, right. I feel like
interviewing somebody is harder because you have to have the questions, right,
you have to have the research, You have to keep
the conversation flowing. When somebody's asking you questions about yourself,
there's like no research require, right. Yeah. Yeah, So you know,
I'm glad that he's interviewing with me. So I'm excited
about that. And yes, I'll be in Vegas. So is
(54:01):
that gonna be live? It's live Okay, it's a live
podcast in front of this audience of people. And these
are like some of the you know, huge people in
broadcasting who we're gonna be out there from all different genres. Oh,
I love it. This is a big deal, right, And
so I know you're going back to DC. Yeah, I'm
gonna DC. I'm gonna spend some time with my daughter Rain,
(54:23):
and I'm just gonna try to relax for the weekend.
You think that when you're on Love is Blind you'll
talk about you know, I don't know if you could
be on there because people might know what you look like.
The probably would, Yeah, because part of Love is Blind
is that you don't know if the other person looks
like you just judge them from their personality. So darn
can't can't make it on. No, we'll figure it out. Though.
Your personality is decent. But and then, you know, I
(54:47):
think it's good for you too, because one of your
requirements is you like guys who aren't that good looking.
I like medium looking guys, not super fine. Okay, all right, well,
attractive to you, but not like model fine. I like
look like a all right. Well, it is also a Friday,
so we do want to thank Young Blue for coming by. Yes,
his album Love Scars two is out today. But there's
(55:07):
a lot of great new music out today and we
always talked about that during yet all right. Also, we
have a lot of guests coming through next week. I'm
excited for Daniel Caesar. He's gonna be on the show
and I love him as an artist as well, and
I've never met him in person before. Friday is going
to be joining us out of Philly Friday. God, did
you know Philly Stand Up? Yes, Philly Stand Up? Nina
(55:30):
Parker is going to be joining us. Yes, and she's
actually a friend of yours. But she has her own
plus size clothing line in Macy's. But we know her
from TMZ, from E the Netflix show. Yeah, by your House?
Is that what's called by my House? By my House? Yeah?
All of that. So I'm just excited. We got a
lot of big, fun things happening and I'm enjoying life.
So y'all do the same thing, and let's hear your
(55:52):
last words. Hey, Angel and Jasmine Brian, you guys are

on my kiance Harris Martin for becoming a basketball coach
of Phillis High School. Here's Chicago. Thanks by all, Angela,
thank you for all you do. I am a truck
(56:12):
driver and you're topic so keeping me walk, so keep
him coming here and jazz. Thank you all. So y'all
have a good weekend. What's up and the love my
secret that I have? My best friend decided to sleep
with two of my top to sneaky leaks, and almost
(56:33):
six months later, I decided, but if I came across
the Shark Egg boys friend best he loved very much,
I was gonna take his ass up through there and
I did. It's like he came right to me and
I will never let her now send my secret going
(56:55):
