And that's brought to you every day by Born in
Roma by Valentino, available at Macy's. And when we come back,
we got yet and let's start off talking about this
Writer's Guild of America, the strike and what's happening. What
they are demanding. It's their first strike in fifteen years.
We'll have all the details on Way up at Angela Yee. Well,
she's like the talk like they Angela Jean like they

(06:25):
Angela Jean Man.

Speaker 8 (06:27):
She's spilling it all.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
This is yeat well, yes, it is way up at
Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee. Maino is here and Jasmine
from the Jasmine brand dot com is here. Good morning,
and we're doing your yet and this is a serious issue.
We're talking about Hollywood writers going on strike.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
This is official. Now, how does that affect us?

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Well, for everybody who watches late night TV and even
weekly shows, those shows may be going black starting as
early as today.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
This hasn't happened in fifteen years, and we don't know
how long it's going to go on.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
But this could also affect programming for television shows that
have not been filmed yet, so we don't know how
long this can happen. But nightly talk shows like The
Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Jimmy kim Alive, The Tonight
Show starring Jimmy Fallon are all set to go dark
starting today. Late Night with Seth Meyers and The Daily
Show will also be hit and weekly shows like SNL,
Real Time with Bill Maherin last week Tonight with John

(07:23):
Oliver will be impacted as well. Final decisions on those
shows are expected to come later in the week.

Speaker 16 (07:29):
Now.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
We had spoken to Chloe Hillier. She is a writer.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
She's the author of the book f Your Diet, but
she's also the co head writer and co executive producer
for The Black Lady Sketch Show. And here's what she
had to say about what is actually going on and
why writers are going on strike.

Speaker 15 (07:44):
The main things that writers are talking about basically is residuals.
We don't really have that opportunity to make extra money
after the initial airing of a show because all these
companies have their own streamers, so they just give the
show to their own free streamer. So that cuts out
a check that can help Almighty lived comfortably for the
rest of their lives. Also, just like the basic rate
increasing over the years with inflation and everything, we want

(08:07):
like a boost with our basic rate. And then also
AI AI is something that we really have to Yeah,
and so you know, the last time we negotiated a
contract was fifteen years ago and that track lasted seven months.
That's so you've got a bunch of reality TV stuff.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Right, So that gave us a lot of information. And
we didn't know this truck was really going to happen,
but we could see it was looming at the time.
So what she said about streaming services is different than
you know, when shows would replay and then they would
get residuals from that. But now with the streaming services,
you get paid one time and that's that because it's
a streaming service.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
So you already know you can watch it at any
point that you want to watch it.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Then they're talking about AI material, and they said the
guilds the writer the Writer's Guild of America, they proposed
that AI material would not be considered as either literary
or source material.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
But the other side of that, the Alliance of.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
Motion Picture and Television Producers said that they would only
study the issue.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
So they're not agreeing to that. But they said they
would study the issue, not agree to that.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
So there's a lot of things that are on the
table that the writers Guild once that they're not getting
all right. They also wanted a guaranteed minimum number of
weeks of employment per season, ranging from ten weeks to
fifty two weeks, whether or not there's work that has
to be done. The studios did reject that proposal. They
did not even make a counter offer when it comes
to that. And basically they just want a livable wage.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
It's about money, which is understandable.

Speaker 7 (09:29):
They want to advance the living conditions basically, I mean,
what was going on fifteen years was fifteen years ago.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
Right exactly.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
They want a TV staffing minimum which would range from
six to twelve writers per show based on the number
of episodes. That proposal was a non starter for the studios.
That's another thing they did not make a counter offer on. Now,
how can you help?

Speaker 3 (09:50):
What can you do? Here's what Chloe Hilliard had to
say about that.

Speaker 15 (09:53):
Voice your opinion, talk about it like you know, talk
about in social media. I know you may not be
in the union, but like be aware of what's happening.
So when things go left, like let your you know
you're providing your streamer know, like we want quality TV,
we want quality programming. We want to support the people
who make these shows and also watch and support the shows.
Like it's not enough to just say, oh, I'm going
to watch it, but like sometimes you have to watch

(10:15):
it because those ratings in a matter of like somebody
having a series on off.

Speaker 14 (10:19):
The six seasons or like two episodes.

Speaker 4 (10:22):
All right, I feel like we're doing our part because
we're having a conversation about it and we're educating people
about it.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
Right, and talking about how we're all impacted by.

Speaker 7 (10:28):
Oh yeah, I wonder how long it's going to last, right,
because the last one lasts seven months and that could
affect me.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
Like we said, shows that are coming down the pipeline,
other people that have shows that are about to start
airings that are in production right now, everything is shut
down as right.

Speaker 5 (10:42):
And we all have things in the pipeline.

Speaker 4 (10:44):
So it's like, man, yeah, yeah, I wonder how AI
is continue is going to continue to impact all these
different industries too.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
And that's another thing that they're trying to make sure
they get the jumps dot on because imagine you now
have AI and then we don't need these.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
Writers like we're used to.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
It's automated, it's artificial intelligence. Well, they want to make
sure they protect themselves in case something like that happens.
All right, make sure you follow Chloe Hillier though, because
she really broke that down lovely.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
Yeah, she makes it understand.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
He's a real journalist. Okay.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
When I first met her, she was writing for a
Vibe magazine and she's a stand up comedian, books out
and like we said, co executive writer and executive producer
for a Black Lady Sketch Show.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
All Right, when we come back, we have about last night.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
I know Mana was in these streets. It was the
met Gala. We're gonna talk about that little bit. It's
way up at Angela yee. About last night?

Speaker 3 (11:29):
Next?

Speaker 8 (11:30):
Yeah, last night, so about last night?

Speaker 15 (11:34):
Last night?

Speaker 8 (11:35):
Last night ZA went down?

Speaker 3 (11:37):
Yes, so last night, it's about last night. I'm Angela.
Ye's way up at Angela yee.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
Jasmine from the Jasmine brand is here and mano, it's
in the building now Jasmine and I in full disclosure.
All we did last night was start getting ready for
single demayo.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
Yes, we started early.

Speaker 5 (11:55):
Yeah, you got ready three days.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
Yeah, we're getting ready now. So we went and had
had a Queen margarita and I.

Speaker 4 (12:02):
Just had a cucumber margarita because I didn't want it spicy.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
Right, And we just went and had tacos.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
And real chicken poppers or chicken.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Yeah, some type of other thing. That's all we did
last night. We had every intention of going out, and
then we even kept our makeup on because we were
like we might go somewhere. We also had a really
good ice cream sandwich that we split in.

Speaker 5 (12:22):
Did y'all get dressed for a single that we had?

Speaker 9 (12:26):
All?

Speaker 17 (12:26):
Right?

Speaker 3 (12:27):
And so what about you?

Speaker 17 (12:29):
Man?

Speaker 2 (12:29):
Now I know you're outside, Hey man, you know me,
I have to make my rounds, okay, So tell us
about these rounds. And met Galla and it was.

Speaker 7 (12:36):
It was a met galat lot was going on in
the city. I went to, uh the Standard to the
boom Boom Bom shout out to Monee.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
The boom Boom Room is in an amazing space. By
the way, You're not allowed to take pictures in there.
Everything is gold, so it's really pretty.

Speaker 5 (12:51):
It's in the rooftop.

Speaker 4 (12:52):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (12:53):
So I went over there to that party was nice.
Janelle Monette, she had an event.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
She looked amazing at the met gala.

Speaker 4 (13:00):
She does she have the same thing? She changed maybe
for the after party, I'm guessing, I think.

Speaker 5 (13:05):
And then she went all the way off.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
What does that mean?

Speaker 5 (13:08):
Bikini?

Speaker 3 (13:09):
Oh she had a bikini on. She had a bikini
on in the boom Boom room, okay, all right? Or
what she knew? Or she had a bikini on? You
took pictures and I'm supposed.

Speaker 5 (13:17):
To everybody was taking pictures.

Speaker 7 (13:22):
Over there and right the day of not taking pictures
and it couldn't have been yesterday.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
Whatever rule that was for it would think that's one
of the rules in the Boom Boom room.

Speaker 7 (13:32):
And just like house and it was a whole That
rule was a whole for They had camera people there,
so she had a bikini on.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
Who else was at the party?

Speaker 5 (13:42):
I saw Jdna Okay, I like him.

Speaker 9 (13:45):
M hm.

Speaker 5 (13:47):
Pretty much a lot of a lot of Atlantic people.

Speaker 7 (13:49):
Industry of label head shot. Shout out to Kaisa, shout
out to Marsha okay.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
Atlantic And did you have a good time? Did it
feel like galla after party?

Speaker 3 (13:58):

Speaker 5 (13:59):
Listen? I always have a good time, you do, Yeah,
that's a fact. I'm a walking good time.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Did you have a few cocktails or I had some classays?

Speaker 5 (14:08):
But I knew I had to get up for work
in the morning, so I didn't want to overdo it.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
I'm not gonna lie. That was part of what it was.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
I was like, I gotta work in the morning, and
we got to catch a flight go to Orlando. TD
Jake's his good soil, Hallelujah. Event is happening, and so
I'm moderating a piano.

Speaker 5 (14:23):
Piano, always moderating, always getting onored.

Speaker 14 (14:26):
She get out.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
We like to call it always working, you know, we
like to call it always working.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
Okay, while you outside, you could class a zool at
partying in your swimming trunks. Did you care about what
you were yesterday? Being that it was the met Gallon
and everybody was kind of done.

Speaker 5 (14:44):
I like to always care about what I wear, because
you never know not to always stay ready.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
You know, as have you ever repeated at Alpha yet?
For I don't. I don't think I've seen I haven't
seen him in the same thing twice.

Speaker 5 (14:55):
Yeah, that's not true. It seems like that.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
Have you ever bought an outfit and returned it?

Speaker 4 (15:03):
Of course?

Speaker 5 (15:05):
Okay, come on, like you think I'm gonna get up
here and not telling you. Of course we all did that.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
I didn't know if guys do that.

Speaker 5 (15:12):
You went back and be like I didn't didn't. I didn't.
I didn't want this.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
It smells like smells like alone men's degree.

Speaker 7 (15:20):
But I'm gonna tell you that. I'm gonna tell you
the real thing. You ever you ever try to take
something back and they didn't take it back. It almost
happened to see what I used to do is this?
I used to send somebody in. Of course you don't
do it right, and then I send somebody. I remember,
I try to return a mount clear and he was
like they opened up the sleeves and a little bit
and was like they could tell it.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
This is one that's so embarrassing.

Speaker 5 (15:44):
But I was outside, Yeah, I was outside return.

Speaker 9 (15:47):
To my.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
Were for a video shoot or something one time. Yeah,
well they could tell you what.

Speaker 14 (15:55):
To keep it.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
All right, Well that was about last night. Now when
we come back, we have Gurus of the Gram. You know,
there's a lot of people online who are gurus Internet gurus,
and some of them I think are quite legitimate. You
agree with what they have to say, and some of
them you're like, all right, this is ridiculous. Well today
we want to hear what you have to say about this,
Gurus of the Gram. This is about friends and enemies.

(16:18):
It's the way you put it into the yee oh,
we got it now here.

Speaker 9 (16:20):
It is the worst betrayal in the world is false intimacy.
That's why I like my enemies to be enemies. I
like my enemies to say I don't like you, I
can't stand you, because once I know you are enemy,

(16:41):
I know how to handle you. What confuses me is
when you wear the camouflage of friendship and now you've
betrayed me with the kiss.

Speaker 5 (16:54):
You live. I live by that one hundred percent.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
All right, Well we're going to talk about that with
Guza playing it again. Eight hundred two nine two fifty
one fifty is a number?

Speaker 3 (17:04):
Do you agree?

Speaker 2 (17:05):
We want to hear your experiences with this is Gurus
of the gram. When we come back way up at
the Angela yee.

Speaker 8 (17:10):
Oh dad talk but is it kapanah? They are gurus
of a gram.

Speaker 2 (17:15):
All right, it's way up at Angela. Yee, I'm Angela yee.
Jasmine from the Jasmine brand is here. Mana is here,
and here is triggered new Mano. New Mano is triggered.
And we're talking about Bishop TD. Jakes as today's Guru
of the Graham. You know, a lot of times we
see interesting people giving analogies on social media and sometimes
we agree, sometimes we don't. And this one is about

(17:36):
enemies disguised as friends. Now I also did a deeper dive.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
Okay, you do them.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
They said there are four types of enemies disguised as friends. Okay,
there is the taker, the talker, the flatterer, and the
reckless companion. All right, so you guys can look that
up and do your own deep dive.

Speaker 4 (17:57):
Okay, what's the wor what do you think is the
worst one in all four of hmm?

Speaker 2 (18:01):
I think taking the taker is dangerous by taking from
asking for a lot while giving a little all right,
performing duty out of fear, and offering service in order
to gain something. The flatterer supports both good and bad
behavior and discriminately praises you to your face and puts
you down behind your back. Y'all know people like that,
the reckless companion by accompanying you and drinking, roaming around

(18:24):
at night, partying and gambling.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
Is that me and you that last one? You're the
reckless companion?

Speaker 5 (18:28):
Yeah, you definitely I forgot you there.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
All right? So that is off from you know, the Buddha.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
Okay, okay, And again here we talked about Bishop TD
Jakes and here's what he had to say.

Speaker 9 (18:41):
The worst betrayal in the world is false intimacy. That's
why I like my enemies to be enemies. I like
my enemies to say I don't like you, I can't
stand you, because once i'm oh you are enemy, I
know how to handle you. What confuses me is when

(19:05):
you wear the camouflage of friendship and now you've betrayed
me with the kiss.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
Ooh, all right, well, let's say what you guys have
to say about this. Eight hundred two nine fifty fifty.
We have somebody who is on the line and she's anonymous.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
Ooh, all right, let us a long time.

Speaker 12 (19:26):
Also, if we were working on our relationships, to therapy
and everything, and a year and a half laid out
found out that I was only doing the work she wasn't.

Speaker 11 (19:37):
So she finally let me know that she's done with me.

Speaker 3 (19:41):
What okay for twenty a year after twenty over twenty years?

Speaker 2 (19:48):
Yeah, so for over twenty years, Joe, it's supposed to
be now working on your relationship and then what does
she do?

Speaker 3 (19:54):
That was the betrayal.

Speaker 11 (19:56):
We both were doing therapy. I thought we were working things,
and I was sharing.

Speaker 12 (20:02):
Intimate things between me and her, like the're vulnerable, I
would say, okay, and that was close book because I
was vulnerable and a many of the things that I've
done wrong, and just knowing that she wasn't accepting it.

Speaker 11 (20:18):
All right, betrayal?

Speaker 3 (20:19):
All right, Well but thank you, Yeah that sounds terrible.

Speaker 4 (20:22):
Yeah, thank you for sharing.

Speaker 11 (20:24):
You're welcome.

Speaker 3 (20:25):
She sounds really sad about that.

Speaker 5 (20:27):
Yeah, Yeah, that's what happens though, when people that you
love betray you and hurt you.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
More right, all right, it's gurus up the GRAM and
we're talking about enemies disguised as friends.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
Hello, who's this Hi? How are you good? How are you?

Speaker 11 (20:42):
I'm doing well, doing well. It is definitely, definitely true.
I'm one of my closest friends, not with my husband,
who's well, who is a pastor and I are no
longer together. What they're married?

Speaker 17 (20:56):
What you a lie?

Speaker 3 (20:59):
No, ma'am, Oh my gosh, it's awful. Your husband, Andrea,
your closest friend, betrayed you.

Speaker 7 (21:04):
So your pastor husband husband betrayed you with your best friend.

Speaker 5 (21:08):
Yeah, and they together right now?

Speaker 11 (21:11):
Yeah, dad was the pastor and he was the thunder
pastor because Dad sat him down for a while, but
then his dad came ill and he passed, and he
took all the.

Speaker 5 (21:27):
You still see them, I still see them, I do.

Speaker 12 (21:30):
What a treature.

Speaker 11 (21:32):
He was the paler pole for one of my sons,
but not the one that's named after him.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
So you have children together.

Speaker 11 (21:39):
But yeah, we we said, whether I've seen them all
the time, their family, his family still invite us to everything,
and we show up.

Speaker 5 (21:49):
For him.

Speaker 11 (21:50):
But I didn't do anything right?

Speaker 5 (21:52):
And and what does she have to say about all that?

Speaker 11 (21:54):
To this day, she's never a polog.

Speaker 3 (21:57):
Oh wow, she's not even sorry.

Speaker 11 (21:58):
He just went on with as usual. And her family
they felt man. And I'm still close with the rest
of her siblings, but just not her. I'll keep a
cordial everything.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
How long were you when your husband married?

Speaker 11 (22:11):
For four years?

Speaker 4 (22:13):
Four?

Speaker 9 (22:14):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (22:14):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (22:14):
And then how long him in your former friend been married.

Speaker 2 (22:18):
They just celebrated seventeen years all the day seventeen My goodness, Well,
I am so sorry to hear that for you.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
I know that still gotta hurt, no matter what.

Speaker 11 (22:27):
I mean, the best success and he my son is
named after him, and she named her son after him
as well.

Speaker 3 (22:35):
Oh my gosh, Well this woman has no shame in
her game their sons.

Speaker 11 (22:39):
Yeah, my son is the fourth named after his dad,
so she named him the fifth even though my son
named this woman.

Speaker 3 (22:46):
Right, yeah, boy, we got a like me and this
lady got.

Speaker 5 (22:51):
Kids. Wow, this is for the best. Revenge is success.
But I mean, if we understand all of all her windows,
we gotta fight over there.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
We gotta fight.

Speaker 11 (23:03):
I know I'm gonna see them at one of their
family events. I make sure I stopped my game.

Speaker 14 (23:08):
I know that's right.

Speaker 5 (23:11):
I walk in the door like God me and God did.

Speaker 3 (23:15):
All right, Well, thank you for sharing with us. I
know that story is a tough one.

Speaker 5 (23:20):
You gotta come, you gotta pop out with a new man.

Speaker 11 (23:24):
Indeed, he did.

Speaker 2 (23:27):
They did you a favor. You could have real happiness.
Now you ain't no good coming to them at all.

Speaker 11 (23:34):
That's right, all right, Well, thank you for listening so much.

Speaker 4 (23:38):
Thank you for sharing.

Speaker 6 (23:39):
All right?

Speaker 3 (23:40):
Have you too the fact that she still sounds great?

Speaker 4 (23:45):
Yeah, I mean seventeen years but still, I still we're
gonna fight every time I see her.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
They're not gonna they're not gonna bite me. All right.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
Well, that was Gurus up the gram enemies disguised as friends.
And when we come back, we have your Yet, let's
tell about what went on in the city last night.
The met gala will tell you some of the moments
on the red carpet. You see, Lala was hosting for Vogue,
and there's definitely some highlights.

Speaker 3 (24:10):
It's way up with Angela.

Speaker 8 (24:11):
Yee shure, She's about to blow the lid about this pot.

Speaker 14 (24:13):

Speaker 8 (24:15):
Angela's feeling that ye tea, Come and get the tea.

Speaker 3 (24:18):
Yes, it is a way up at Angela.

Speaker 15 (24:20):

Speaker 3 (24:20):
I'm Angela Yee Jasmine from the Jasmine brand is here.
Good morning, Mayo.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
Mainnovations is in the building. All right, and let's talk
about the met Gala last night. First and the biggest
news I think, Serena Williams announces she and Alexis o'haney
and are expecting their second child. They posted a photo
and she said, was so excited when Anna went tour
invited the three of us to the Met Gala.

Speaker 9 (24:44):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
Yeah, they look good.

Speaker 4 (24:46):
And then they already have a five year old, so
they're gonna have a She's gonna be a big sister.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
Yes, their first child's Olympia. All right, so congratulations to them.

Speaker 3 (24:53):
That's dope.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
Now let's discuss some of what happened last night at
the met gala. Cardi b looked amazing. She how many
looks does she have?

Speaker 5 (25:01):
Like four?

Speaker 3 (25:02):
I don't know, different looks.

Speaker 4 (25:03):
Oh yeah, I saw three, so it was the four.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
Maybe I don't know exactly, but I saw she had
multiple looks three and impossible. All right, looked amazing. Rihanna,
she was trending because everybody was waiting for Rihanna to
make it to the red carpet. And she was probably
like the last person to get there, but outfit really
dupe her and asap Rocky on the red carpet together,
we saw him jump over the divider.

Speaker 5 (25:25):
We don't know, maybe the op was in the building.

Speaker 3 (25:29):
I don't know what made him make an entrance like that.

Speaker 2 (25:31):
It reminded me of back in the day when I
worked for Wu tang Old Dirty Basket with things like that,
just like come.

Speaker 3 (25:36):
Up from the audience when you didn't even know he
made the flight.

Speaker 5 (25:39):
Well we're talking about it.

Speaker 3 (25:40):
Yeah, maybe that was the point, all right, not that
they need any press now. I Spice was there.

Speaker 2 (25:44):
We saw her when she arrived, and she is actually
the Vogue Special Guest, So she was invited by Anna
Wintour as a special guest.

Speaker 9 (25:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (25:53):
I like that for her. What did you think of her?
What did you think of her look? Oh?

Speaker 2 (25:56):
Yeah, she looked great. Yeah, I'm trying to think of
a little nas x us very differently.

Speaker 4 (26:01):
He really didn't have any clothes on.

Speaker 2 (26:03):
Was he dressed as us Carl because the theme was
Carl Lagerfeld, right, So he was dressed as the cat.

Speaker 3 (26:09):
I believe, Yeah, some type of homage.

Speaker 4 (26:12):
Yeah, we so.

Speaker 3 (26:13):
Jared later also came dressed as car Lagerfeld's cat. I
understood that.

Speaker 5 (26:17):
I got that.

Speaker 3 (26:17):
He definitely looked like a huge cat. Now I tell
you what else looked amazing.

Speaker 2 (26:24):
By the way, let's discuss this young Miami and Diddy
together on the red carpet, and I saw that June
Ambrose actually designed Diddy's outfit.

Speaker 3 (26:33):
So they both looked amazing.

Speaker 2 (26:35):
And so let's hear what happened when La La actually
spoke to them on the red carpet.

Speaker 3 (26:40):
I'm asking, I want to know that we're here, all right,
it's official.

Speaker 14 (26:50):
I don't go together real bad.

Speaker 3 (26:54):
Then that's what it is. Then that's what for the night.
It's just a good day.

Speaker 5 (27:02):
You don't put titles on it.

Speaker 6 (27:03):
Everybody wants to put a title on We don't put
titles on it.

Speaker 14 (27:05):
It's like my best friend in the world, one of
the most beautiful people.

Speaker 5 (27:08):
God has blessed me, and I'm blessed that she's my
day tonight. Can I get it like a little napkift
from Hew? Yes, he was like, I like them.

Speaker 3 (27:18):
You liked them. You said that earlier. You were like,
I like them together. They look good. They look good together,
all right?

Speaker 2 (27:24):
Now Dojah Cat also came dressed as Carlaga Felt's cat
and she was also in character.

Speaker 18 (27:29):
Okay, so tell me all about this. Wow, okay, so
something's a little different. So what was your inspiration for tonight?
Be honest with me and go into detail.

Speaker 5 (27:44):
That's all she said.

Speaker 3 (27:45):
Yes, hilarious. Her name is Doja Cat.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
Yeah, so it all makes sense. I'm sorry, but that's
a funny moment. I like her, all right, and push
the tea was there. Usher came dressed to nice. Tiana
Taylor was there.

Speaker 3 (28:02):
Listen. She could wear anything and look great, but I
liked her outfit. She also had the Chick fil A.

Speaker 2 (28:07):
If you guys saw she bore her own food because
people always talk about the food it's not good or
I feel like it at left. Probably Yeah, they want
to make sure you can fit in your outfit. Of course,
Kim Kardashian was there. They kept saying that she wasn't invited.
Remember that was a huge thing. Yes, she wasn't invited,
but she was there front and center. Kylie Jenner was there,
Kendall Jenna was there, So it looks like a good time.

(28:28):
Janelle Monet, by the way, always she's another person that
could put on anything and look absolutely amazing.

Speaker 3 (28:34):
Gabrielle Union and Doing Wade were there. Doctor Dre was
in the building.

Speaker 5 (28:37):
I missed him.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
Yep, I'll show you a picture. Here is what he
had on. Lizzo was there too, Jack Harlow. So looks
like they had a great time. By the way, I
liked you. Just Elbow and his wife. Oh yeah, they
did look good.

Speaker 2 (28:50):
And Jack Harlow told the press I'm on shroom so
he could avoid doing interviews. Good strategy, okay, strategy, All right,
well that is your UTM. When we come back, we
have under the radar. These are the stories that are
not necessarily headline news stories, but we feel like you
need to know about them. A lot of times they're
just really interesting. They can be funny, but they're informative.
If it's way up at Angela yee.

Speaker 8 (29:11):
Yeah, news this in the news that relates to you.
These stories are flying under the radar.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
Yes, it's way up at Angela yee. I'm Angela Yee.
And Amino is here. Jasmine from the Jasmine brand is here, hello,
and it's time to do these under the radar stories.
All right, Well, there's a new COVID nineteen variant spreading
in the US with a new symptom. It's called our tourists,
and they're saying it's the leading Well, COVID is still

(29:38):
a leading cause of death around the world, including in
the US. It's about two hundred and fifty deaths daily.

Speaker 3 (29:43):
That's a lot.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
I feel like, Wow, they're saying that, Yes, COVID is
still a thing, guys, And our tourist variant has a
higher tran transmissibility rate than previous streams. But the new
variant has a new symptom, conjunctiviis aka pink eye. Oh
oh man, I would hate to get that. I had
pink eye once in my life. It was an awful

(30:05):
experience and it did hurt. It was just annoying.

Speaker 3 (30:08):
My eye just kept leaking like I had that. I
don't think I ever had pink guy either. And I
know how I got it.

Speaker 2 (30:14):
I was I used to work at the store on
campus at my college, and I think I might have
rubbed my eye while touching money. Oh, you know, you
got to make sure you're constantly washing your hands. I'm
pretty sure that's how I got it.

Speaker 5 (30:25):
So this is good because now we get to see
who got it yeah.

Speaker 3 (30:28):
The pink eye.

Speaker 2 (30:28):
Well, I mean you have a pink eyed doesn't mean
you have to have but it is the worst feeling
and it's very contagious. So usually people will get it
in both eyes too, because if you get it in.

Speaker 5 (30:39):
One, anybody eyes pink stay away from me.

Speaker 3 (30:41):
Yeah, may so what I don't know, man, it was
out with some type of eye. Probably.

Speaker 5 (30:47):
Okay, this iss.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
You're close to him? My goodness.

Speaker 2 (30:53):
All right, now, we've been talking about strikes and the
Writers Guild of America going on strike. That's official right now. Well,
American Airline pilots have authorized a strike mandate, okay, and
they're pressing for workforce gains and so they've approved this
mandate ahead of the busy summer travel season.

Speaker 3 (31:10):
They want a pressure for a contract.

Speaker 2 (31:13):
And this does not mean that they're going to walk
off the job, though the chances of that are still
pretty slim. But more than ninety six percent of the
Allied Pilots Association membership voted and over ninety nine percent
voted in favor of authorizing a strike. All right, So
they're trying to get this contract.

Speaker 4 (31:31):
So if you've been a go walk off, what they're
gonna do I mean not gonna do it like do
a protest sort of thing.

Speaker 2 (31:36):
I guess what it is is they want better salaries,
better working conditions. I'm sure that they're going to try
to avoid the strike as much as possible. So this
is just letting y'all know that we all have agreed
that we will go on strike if this does not happen.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
All right, all right, So the board has to first.
This is all kinds of things that have to go on.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
So hopefully they'll do whatever additional bargaining agreements they have
to do and make it happen, all right, all right.
And in Arizona they have broken ground on tiny homes
for teachers. That's because of a worsening educator shortage. So
imagine this. You know, the way that they're trying to
lure some of these teachers to come there is by
using federal money to build studio units. They're each four

(32:17):
hundred square feet. It's a vacant lot behind an elementary school.
Teachers will pay about five hundred and fifty dollars a month,
which is well below the market rate for rent, and
then there'll be transitional housing for them, and also it
will allure educators to their schools over other districts across
the country. There's a place for you to live. Is
it like a studio, Yeah, it's like a studio. Okay,

(32:37):
four hundred and fifty I mean four hundred square feet
is kind of small though, Yeah, very small for five
hundred and fifty dollars.

Speaker 3 (32:42):
That still seems pricey for.

Speaker 4 (32:43):
I feel like they should go down a little bit
on that price.

Speaker 5 (32:45):
I agree.

Speaker 2 (32:47):
All right, Well, these are your under the radar stories
and we do have the Way Up Mix at the
top of the hour. Plus we have a really special
guest joining us. You saw Ditty on the Red Carpet
with Young Miami yesterday. Well, the first artists that is
on Love Records, Jazzi, is going to be joining us.
The EP is out right now and you're gonna love
this one. It's way up with Angela yea the rooms.

Speaker 1 (33:10):
From Industry shade to all of gods that Angela's spilling that.

Speaker 2 (33:16):
Yes, it's way up with Angela. Ye I'm Angela Yee.
Jasmine from the Jasmine brand is here. Mayno what that
main ovation is here?

Speaker 5 (33:23):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (33:23):
Yes, Fresh partying all night. Hey, all right, now, let's
get into this et.

Speaker 2 (33:29):
Coolio's a longtime manager, has been appointed control of his estate.

Speaker 3 (33:33):
He didn't have a will.

Speaker 4 (33:34):
It's not surprising it A lot of you don't have wills.

Speaker 17 (33:37):
I know.

Speaker 3 (33:37):
It just makes you feel like time to get that
will done?

Speaker 5 (33:40):
Yesh right now?

Speaker 2 (33:41):
Per court documents, he was appointed specially administrative for his estate,
which means he's responsible for collecting residuals and handling financial matters,
and his estate was also to be divided among his children.
So his manager, Jerrell Jire's posey sought appointment is executi
how do you say? Execu cuter to avoid waste and

(34:02):
or loss of the personal property of Coolios.

Speaker 3 (34:04):
Specifically, this estate is.

Speaker 2 (34:05):
Believed to include personal property and demand deposit accounts, financial accounts,
insurance policies, royalties, all of which need to be marshaled
and protected on behalf of the estates.

Speaker 4 (34:15):
Do we know how many children? He hasked.

Speaker 3 (34:17):
I'm not sure how many. I don't know. You can
look it up right now while we're doing this, and
you could do a deep dive.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
I thought it wasn't that thing, okay, yeah, but yeah,
so that's why it is important and this I don't
have a will, it says.

Speaker 4 (34:32):
He has ten kids.

Speaker 5 (34:34):
Whoa.

Speaker 3 (34:35):
So I don't know whoa that was? That was from
my deep dive. Okay, that was a good quick deep dive.
Do you guys know? So nobody here has a will
I do not anybody. I'm right now as we speak.

Speaker 4 (34:49):
I need to get life insurance for my child.

Speaker 2 (34:52):
Yeah, life insurance, man. Okay, can I just do that online?
Because I could do it now. I would rather you
speak to somebody because it's all different. I actually I
have a great Agent'll give a Victoria from State Farm.

Speaker 4 (35:05):
Okay, cool, all right, nixt worry. I'm gonna be calling
you all right now.

Speaker 2 (35:08):
Tony Braxton was on Sherry and she was on yesterday
and she was talking about Tamar's surprise engagements and what
she thinks is about to happen.

Speaker 3 (35:18):
Here is Tony Braxton on Sherry.

Speaker 14 (35:22):
How did you react when you found out she was?

Speaker 3 (35:24):
She called to me, Tony, I'm engaged to who to be,
what to do?

Speaker 14 (35:28):
What you engaged to do?

Speaker 9 (35:30):
What?

Speaker 11 (35:30):
She said?

Speaker 3 (35:31):
No, I got to god go you gonna love him?

Speaker 14 (35:34):
So Jrr is her guy? And I was like, can
I see a picture? No'mann surprise you. So I got
to meet him. He's a great guy. Are you gonna
be in the wedding. I don't know what they're doing.

Speaker 4 (35:41):
I think they mighty low, she said, engaged to do
what I know right. More importly, is Tony Braxon engaged
to Birdman Steel? Or are they married? What's going with them?

Speaker 3 (35:50):
They? Oh, I have no idea. I don't know anything.

Speaker 4 (35:52):
We said we used to break. Go ahead, that's one
thing we used to break all the eventry about. Okay,
go ahead, do a deep dive and see if they're
still engaged.

Speaker 3 (36:04):
No one knows. Okay, but you said you broke a
lot of theirs.

Speaker 4 (36:08):
We broke a lot of other stories about them, you know, dating,
being engaged.

Speaker 5 (36:12):
It was the mole.

Speaker 3 (36:14):
Well, we're not going to I'm not gonna tell that.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
Definitely had to be a mole if you're breaking on
these stores, of course. All right, and speaking of breaking,
let's talk about a break up. Share and Alexander A.

Speaker 3 (36:25):
Edwards.

Speaker 2 (36:25):
They have called it quits. They were engaged, but they
were never engaged. According to TMZ. You're surprised.

Speaker 5 (36:33):
I mean, at this point, she would like one hundred
and seven.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
She's seventy six, yes, eight shame, and he's thirty seven.

Speaker 4 (36:43):
Really they were even dating since January allegedly January, February,
March April.

Speaker 3 (36:47):
Yeah, may no, you were a dated share. Yes, she's
available now, yeah get it, you should take share?

Speaker 5 (36:56):
Yeah, yeah, right, I love that.

Speaker 3 (37:01):
We would like that for you.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
So they said they never really engaged. It was just
people thought that they were, so they just played into it.
But I guess she's a single again. He even was
close for her kids too.

Speaker 3 (37:13):
By the way, So this is the.

Speaker 7 (37:14):
Same guy that was with ufore Ambrose.

Speaker 3 (37:17):
Okay, God the child together, have a child together.

Speaker 4 (37:20):
I know this was a good look for him in
terms of we talked about him way more than when
he was with amber Rose.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
Right right, Well, there you have it. They're not together anymore,
so we'll see.

Speaker 2 (37:30):
I'm sure he'll they'll both move on and date somebody
and we'll talk about that, of course, as soon as
it happens, all right. Harvey Weinstein has hired Bill Cosby's lawyer,
and that is to appeal his LA conviction. He's hired
a new legal team after he was found guilty by
a jury of sexual assault and rape, with a judge
sending him him to sixteen years. So now he'll be

(37:51):
working with Michael Friedman, who will work alongside Jennifer Bojean,
who's a criminal defense attorney who got Bill Cosby's conviction
overturned and will act as Herstein's league council for his
West Coast appeal.

Speaker 4 (38:03):
All Right, I just did a deep die because I
wanted to see what he looked like. But I'm you know,
see what who looks like the attorney? Okay, doesn't matter,
but I just was.

Speaker 2 (38:10):
You can look up Jennifer Bonjean too, because she's also
known for defending some very high profile men accused throughout
the Me Too movement. So she represented Bill Cosby on
his appeal. Like we said, she was also R. Kelly's
lead attorney during his criminal trial in Chicago. She also
represented a sex cult leader.

Speaker 4 (38:28):
Does she win though, because those people you were naming
didn't seem well, she got Cosby's overturn.

Speaker 3 (38:33):
Okay, Well that's that's enough.

Speaker 4 (38:35):
That's a win. R. Kelly kind of all right, that
was a little more challenging.

Speaker 3 (38:39):
That is your yee t. And this is interesting.

Speaker 2 (38:43):
Now we've been talking met gala all morning and there's
one thing. One person who made an appearance, well not
a person, but there was an appearance at the met
Gala that we have not yet discussed that also went viral. Yes, okay,
and we will discuss this because this is something that
someone I would not want to have anywhere near me
or in my home.

Speaker 3 (39:02):
All right. It's the way up with Angela Yee? You
up with Angela?

Speaker 15 (39:08):
Ye?

Speaker 2 (39:10):
Yes, it is way up with Angela yee. I'm Angela yee.
Jasmine brand is here, Mana was here?

Speaker 5 (39:16):
No man the only mayno.

Speaker 14 (39:18):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (39:18):
And we're talking about the met Gala some more because
there was a guest that was uninvited that showed up
and we would all be mad if this guest showed
up in our home, okay.

Speaker 3 (39:27):
And that was a cockroach, all right.

Speaker 2 (39:29):
And I saw a lot of photographers and reporters snapping
videos of this cocker roach that was at the met Gallo.

Speaker 3 (39:35):
Walk in the carpet.

Speaker 2 (39:37):
They were calling it on People, roach roacheson what People
magazine called it roach roacheson Variety did report. It is
with deep sadness that we must report the met Gala
cockroach was stepped on rip So I guess somebody did
end up killing the roaches.

Speaker 3 (39:54):
We saw it on the on the red carpet dead.

Speaker 5 (39:58):
Somebody brought the roach in the pocket.

Speaker 3 (40:00):
Yeah, where that roach came from?

Speaker 5 (40:02):
Pocket?

Speaker 4 (40:02):
Someone brought a roach accidentally, I'm sure, but.

Speaker 5 (40:05):
It was outside so much just also rolled up.

Speaker 2 (40:08):
Now, roaches I would think would be scared to be
on the red car because it's too much activity, too
much hoopola.

Speaker 3 (40:13):
They generally much. Yeah, they generally try to avoid the spotlight.
It was a blind roach. Yeah, but let's keep it real.
Does everybody here had roaches in their house?

Speaker 5 (40:27):
Of course?

Speaker 14 (40:27):
Yes?

Speaker 5 (40:28):
And I mean you didn't want to say that.

Speaker 4 (40:31):
I mean it's not something I'm shouting from the rooftop
of Yeah.

Speaker 7 (40:34):
But we have to be honest because a lot of
our listeners had roaches in their house. We grew up
with roaches, and the worst were the ones with the wings.

Speaker 4 (40:42):
I don't know what those are like, you don't know
with wings? Now, it's a water okay. Water bug is
different from a roach.

Speaker 3 (40:50):
A water bug is a type of roach, is like
a specially.

Speaker 5 (40:54):
Different like a like a let me do it bigger species.

Speaker 3 (41:01):
Okay, yeah, no, I have water bugs here. When you
google water bug, it's an oriental cockerroach.

Speaker 5 (41:07):
Orient oriental that's what it says here.

Speaker 4 (41:10):
Okay, I didn't know I guess they're in the same
family as a water bug, a roach.

Speaker 9 (41:14):
There.

Speaker 4 (41:14):
Listen, there are three reasons.

Speaker 5 (41:16):
It's like a It's like a bigger roach of.

Speaker 2 (41:17):
Apes, they said, I said, A true water bug is
an aquatic insect.

Speaker 3 (41:21):
Okay, that's not the vision.

Speaker 2 (41:22):
The water they hold their breaths for a long time
without resurfacing. But so water bugs are the ones that
have wings, because you know some of them have wings.
What's the roads with the wings?

Speaker 5 (41:31):
I haven't seen those. Maybe seen a while. Yeah, maybe
they don't make those one.

Speaker 3 (41:35):
When's the last time you saw a roach. I'm trying
to think I've seen outside on this at the met galley.

Speaker 4 (41:43):
Do you see the mouse?

Speaker 14 (41:44):
I don't know, I do.

Speaker 3 (41:44):
I see roaches are chilling lately.

Speaker 5 (41:47):
No, I haven't seen roach in a long time. Its
spend a minute, man.

Speaker 4 (41:51):
My first apartment out of first of all, I had
them growing up, but also my first apartment after college,
I had roaches. I stayed in an apartment building in
the hood. I felt I felt like that Southeast DC.

Speaker 5 (42:00):
Yes, he was given that.

Speaker 3 (42:02):
See the roaches, the ones with the wings. I feel
like this.

Speaker 2 (42:05):
What makes them so nasty is that it's like they're
kind of heavy, so they can only glide a little bit.

Speaker 5 (42:09):
They don't like especially, they don't like too heavy though.

Speaker 3 (42:14):
She picked them up, blessing. There are many cheeses. Oh
my gosh, are you a roach?

Speaker 5 (42:22):
Wow?

Speaker 4 (42:23):
Listen, there are three reasons a roach comes into your home, okay,
Number one looking for food, Number two looking for shelter,
and number three looking for water.

Speaker 2 (42:33):
All right, well, I can tell you this. The reason
I don't have any roaches in my house now is
because there's no food. It's no food, and that is
one thing I will say. I do not like for
people to leave food out. That's what brings roaches. When
you leave food out overnight on the counter.

Speaker 3 (42:46):
You do too much.

Speaker 5 (42:47):
You don't have roaches now, dude.

Speaker 4 (42:49):
Definitely spiders. There's spiders in my apartment in DC.

Speaker 3 (42:53):
We actually ended up getting a cat because cats will
eat roaches. I got a cat for mice before.

Speaker 14 (42:59):
Right.

Speaker 5 (42:59):
I feel like this roach conversation is making you itch.

Speaker 3 (43:02):
It kind of is scratching.

Speaker 5 (43:04):
Why are you scratching yourself?

Speaker 14 (43:05):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (43:06):
I just it makes me uncomfortable, Yes, uncomfortable.

Speaker 5 (43:09):
Are you scarred by roaches?

Speaker 15 (43:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (43:11):
I am scarred by roaches. And man who was it
this said? Was it Diddy that said he what a
roach called on his face?

Speaker 1 (43:18):
Or something like that?

Speaker 4 (43:20):
And then and then and then Young Miami wrapped about it.

Speaker 3 (43:24):
She had a line, She had a line about it.
He woke up with fifteen roaches on his face? Wow,
you remember that? Oh my god, that would be an
in for me. First of all, how did you count fifteen?
I think he was I think he was over exaggerated.
Of course he didn't know.

Speaker 2 (43:40):
You give a speech and you're like, one day I
was going up, I woke up and it was fifteen
roaches on my face.

Speaker 3 (43:46):
At that moment, I said, hell no, I refuse.

Speaker 9 (43:52):
Like this.

Speaker 3 (43:54):
All right, hold on, but really quick, we're just trying
to take the stigma out of people.

Speaker 4 (43:58):
Have Young Miami said in your face like roaches?

Speaker 2 (44:01):
Okay, yeah, that's a cute line, but let's not in
other words, that's I don't want it in my head.

Speaker 3 (44:06):
I don't want do you want any of your face?
You line?

Speaker 2 (44:17):
All right, that's enough of these roasters. Jazz miss itching
getting up a very she can't even speak properly. All right, Well,
speaking of Diddy, we have the first artist signed to
Love Records, Jazzi joining us. That's a nice transition, thank you,
you know, and she'll never have to deal with those
fifteen roaches on her face.

Speaker 3 (44:35):
No roaches.

Speaker 2 (44:37):
But Jazzi has an amazing EP out right now that
we've been listening to. But in addition to that, Jazzi
is a really popular songwriter right who could have been
very financially good just writing music staying behind the scenes.
But we're going to talk about what made Jazzi say.
You know what it's about that time. It's way up
with Angela.

Speaker 8 (44:56):
Yee you way up with Angela.

Speaker 3 (44:59):
Ye, it's way up with Angela Angela Ye.

Speaker 2 (45:02):
Jasmine from the Jasmine brand is here and we got
the first timer up here.

Speaker 3 (45:07):
Johnsy's here with us.

Speaker 14 (45:08):
Oh what y'all pop my cherry right now?

Speaker 3 (45:11):
That's right, let's go.

Speaker 2 (45:13):
Well, first of all, congratulations to you on the new
EP songs Women, Free Game for n Words because we
can't say that up here.

Speaker 14 (45:20):
Thank you. I'm so excited because like, did you listen
to Yes.

Speaker 11 (45:22):
We did.

Speaker 14 (45:23):
What do you think about it?

Speaker 5 (45:24):
Oh?

Speaker 19 (45:24):
My god?

Speaker 2 (45:24):
I love it, even the interlus and everything. It has
a nice nostalgic feel. I'm gonna tell you what song.
I love it kind of gave me like a little
bit of a Jodasy vibe, which I'm a big fan
of that.

Speaker 3 (45:34):
By the way, I like alone, I think, don't say
no for me.

Speaker 14 (45:38):
Fact, yeah, we all listen.

Speaker 4 (45:42):
That's why I think on my phone to see what's.

Speaker 14 (45:44):
With us all.

Speaker 3 (45:45):
So that's why we have questions. So don't get too excited.

Speaker 5 (45:48):
We got questions.

Speaker 16 (45:48):
I'm glad you'll listen because I remember I ask somebody.

Speaker 14 (45:51):
I was like, what's what song? You're like, oh, you'r
number two. I was like, Okay, I don't know what.

Speaker 2 (45:58):
Not only did I listen to the number two songs Commotion,
but I also watched the video which just recently came out.

Speaker 3 (46:03):
Okay, let's start with commotion.

Speaker 2 (46:05):
So you like to be in a relationship that has
a little bit of drama, let's say that, right, really,
but you know, like.

Speaker 14 (46:12):
When you're dealing with two women, like you're gonna down
to have some type of like toxicity.

Speaker 3 (46:17):
You think, So, yeah, it's just I mean always that
like men bring the toxic.

Speaker 16 (46:21):
Yeah, but women also bring toxicity a little bit too,
because it's like intuition, Like sometimes a woman's intuition is
so good.

Speaker 14 (46:29):
But like if your intuition's crazy. My intuition's crazy.

Speaker 2 (46:33):
Now we're just like, but if you're both not doing
nothing exactly, there ain't no intuition.

Speaker 14 (46:38):
But then there's an intuition.

Speaker 16 (46:39):
But then it's like your mom's playing tricks on you,
Like you know what I'm saying, and like that's where
the BS stars like you a cheater.

Speaker 14 (46:45):
No, I've never cheated on any of my girls.

Speaker 3 (46:47):
Okay you don't.

Speaker 4 (46:48):
When do you think she was a cheater?

Speaker 3 (46:50):
Yeah? From these sons.

Speaker 14 (46:51):
No, I'm not a cheater. Like, but I don't jump
into relationships now.

Speaker 3 (46:54):
Don't let nobody dm me after this enview would be
like she lying she cheated on.

Speaker 14 (47:00):
Seriously, I really feel like I've never really cheated on
my girl.

Speaker 16 (47:03):
Like if I was a cheat, I would tell her like, yeah,
I think there's somebody that I really like, I'm really
thinking about it.

Speaker 14 (47:08):
Okay, I'll let her know, but nah, like I'm so honest.

Speaker 2 (47:11):
You feel like you were one of those we was
on to break people, you know, people that get into
an argument.

Speaker 3 (47:18):
So they could go cheat that.

Speaker 14 (47:19):
I don't do that.

Speaker 2 (47:20):
That's sick, Like you know what, I'm out If this
is how you go and treat me or you know
what people do get to me. I feel like that's
been Maybe she's done that. Love Records first artist Jazzy
is here with us.

Speaker 3 (47:33):
But when was your last relationship? See here we go,
I already know it.

Speaker 4 (47:37):
Are you in one right now?

Speaker 14 (47:38):
No, I'm so single. I'm looking for love, like I'm
really trying to find something like to calm me down.

Speaker 3 (47:44):
All right, Well, don't glaze over my question.

Speaker 14 (47:48):
Last June.

Speaker 16 (47:48):
Last June, and I was super faithful. Okay, it was amazing.
She was beautiful, like the girl of my dreams. But
you get to go to your dreams and you'd be like, Okay,
that's really not what I really it was going to be.
Explain the way she looked was everything. I was like,
I've been like I think I still in her DMS.

Speaker 14 (48:05):
Like four years ago. So I was like, yeah, I
got it.

Speaker 16 (48:09):
You know, then when you hang out with him, you realize, Okay,
we're really not on the same that's really not that's
not really what I envisioned, Like.

Speaker 14 (48:16):
That's not what it is.

Speaker 16 (48:18):
Okay, So but I think what it was she needed
me at the time because she was in a bad
relationship with a dude, and I think she needed to.

Speaker 14 (48:26):
She wasn't gonna ever leave him.

Speaker 3 (48:27):
Okay, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 14 (48:28):
So I think that was the reason why I was
in her life.

Speaker 3 (48:31):
So let me ask you this.

Speaker 2 (48:31):
So you said she was in a relationship with a
dude right with women, So she's bisexual.

Speaker 14 (48:36):
Well I was the first.

Speaker 3 (48:38):
Oh you were her first. So she had thought about it, Like,
tell me how you even managed.

Speaker 14 (48:41):
I don't even know. I don't I don't even know.
Like it was just energy women. They the ugly dude.
If he got the right Bible with.

Speaker 3 (48:50):
His energy, I will medium. Yeah, she actually prefers ugly guys.
I prefer medium medium. You guys, all the guys she did.
It got so mad when she says he like ugly
guys like it's meat.

Speaker 14 (49:02):
Though you treat them like like medium terra, like.

Speaker 3 (49:06):
Really good looking guys. But I guess you like good
looking women.

Speaker 4 (49:09):
See what happened when she liked to go look at women.

Speaker 3 (49:11):
It didn't work. Maybe you need somebody, I.

Speaker 14 (49:16):
Need some like rare.

Speaker 3 (49:17):
Yeah, yeah, you need a medium rare.

Speaker 16 (49:20):
Maybe you know what I'm saying. But like, I gotta
just try it for my own self, you know, Okay,
I gotta like trial and error.

Speaker 2 (49:27):
Now Jazzy, with the release of this eph I mean
you've been working in the business already, right behind the scenes,
writing for so many different people, Beyonce, Little Knaves, Ex Chloe,
all of these huge stars, and now you're the star.

Speaker 3 (49:41):
How does it feel?

Speaker 17 (49:42):
Yo?

Speaker 16 (49:42):
The fact that you know this is amazing got like
a little butterflies, But it feels amazing, you know, Like
some of my my idols was like mister Elliott, and
I saw how she did it, and I was like, yo,
if she.

Speaker 14 (49:56):
Can do it, I want to do it like the dreams.

Speaker 16 (49:58):
So just a follow in the foot, even getting a
beyon safe place with right, Like That's why I fought
so hard to get to be on.

Speaker 14 (50:04):
Safe placement because I was like, all of my favorite
writers got one.

Speaker 3 (50:07):
And how did it happen for you?

Speaker 14 (50:09):
Man? Jenny Drake?

Speaker 3 (50:11):
Oh, I know, Jenny, She's amazing.

Speaker 14 (50:13):
We was in the studio and I this is like
during COVID and I texted this song.

Speaker 16 (50:16):
I was like, bro, beyoncef and then she sent it
to people and then our next thing I noticed at
centep Owls And that was like two or three years ago.

Speaker 2 (50:26):
So and when did you find out it made it
cause like we had Friday up here. He was talking
about not knowing that God did made it on and
that jay Z was done it until it came out.

Speaker 3 (50:35):
How did you know? Did they give you a heads
up or did you find out when the album job?

Speaker 6 (50:38):
Nah?

Speaker 14 (50:40):
So literally I was in the club. My boy was like,
I got the credits for all the for the project.

Speaker 16 (50:46):
I'm like, oh snap. I was like, yo, see if
my song was on there at the time. The song
was called right here, right now. So I was like, yo,
see if the song was on there, and then like
right here, right now, I was not on there, So
I'm like damn.

Speaker 14 (50:57):
I was like hurt.

Speaker 16 (50:58):
I'm like, ah, did I get one? Not knowing she
changed the song, she changed the name, and so he's like,
wait a minute, your name is right here. I was
like what And my name was like on the Virgos Grove.
I said, oh, so it's Virgo's groove now and then
like that was. I was in the clubs is screaming
over here, but.

Speaker 14 (51:17):
We gotta be quiet.

Speaker 16 (51:18):
I gotta like, I don't know what's going on right
you know what I'm saying. But I'm like, yo, I
got one.

Speaker 6 (51:22):
It was.

Speaker 14 (51:22):
It was one of those moments where it was like
you did it all right.

Speaker 3 (51:25):
Jazzy is here.

Speaker 2 (51:26):
Make sure you listen to that EP Songs for Women,
Free Game for n Words, and when we come back,
we got more with Jazzy. It's way up at Angela
yee ye, what's up? It's way up with Angela yee
I'm here. Jazzmine from the Jazzmine brand is here and
we are talking to Love Records artists and songwriter Jazzy.
So this whole time that you've been writing for other people,
you always knew that you wanted to be an artist

(51:48):
and put out your own music.

Speaker 14 (51:49):
Yes or no, I was cool just like being a songwriter.

Speaker 16 (51:54):
But then, like you know, sometimes you get that bug man,
because like Missy really did it for me, like she
was like, yo, in order to get people to understand
your sound, you may have to drop it yourself. Because
the sound that I was doing was really the sound
that it is now, Like that's like that R and B,
but Nostalgic has like.

Speaker 14 (52:12):
Like hip hop.

Speaker 3 (52:13):
I feel a little total.

Speaker 16 (52:16):
Exactly, thank you. So like I was like nobody really
gonna do it? Like who can I get these? Who
can I give these to? So it was just it
was just like burning inside of me to like, okay,
I'm gonna just wait, wait till this my time. I
did get signed before Puff, like I was signed with.
I don't even know if I want to say who
I was signed to, but they were at the old
time road. They signed me thinking I was gonna do

(52:38):
old time roll.

Speaker 2 (52:39):
Stuff all right, and that wasn't really men cold, that's
a look cold broad.

Speaker 16 (52:53):
Yeah you did it do with Columbia, but yeah, I
did it do with Columbia, and it was just not
what it like. They didn't believe. They didn't know what
to do with me. They know how to like market me,
they just did not believe, okay. And so like I
was jaded for a minute. Then when I met Puff,
like he was jaded. He was jaded off of Less
Train of Paris. He thought Less Train of Praiers should
have been a way bigger hit, and so we were

(53:14):
both on the same like jaded. I was like, get
the industry. I'm gonna just make this money and just
like sell my catalog, get this bread and you know,
just do this.

Speaker 14 (53:22):
And that was like my mom friend. But like Puff
was like, no, like your sound is so crazy let's
do it together, and like that's what.

Speaker 2 (53:30):
Yeah, Love Records first artist Jazzy is here with us,
and so what's your situation and so it's Love Records.

Speaker 3 (53:37):
So you're I see, it's a partnership.

Speaker 2 (53:38):
It's not necessarily being signed to, but you're the first
person that he's actually putting out that's got that imprint
on it, right, So how does that deal work?

Speaker 14 (53:47):
I love it because it is a partnership.

Speaker 16 (53:49):
It's fifty to fifty, Like you know what I'm saying.
I could bring money to the table. He brings money
to the table, like and we just push it ourselves. Okay,
I see everything, And I love it because he's trying
to write his wrongs for you know how people viewed
him in the past, you know, And I feel like
it's very fair. And me being a songwriter who's been
in it, I've signed so many bad deals right now,
I'm like, I'm I feel like when I met Puff,

(54:11):
I was a boss. I'm signing producers to me, signing
writers to me, Like I'm doing my own things. So like, yeah,
I was just at this point where I was like,
why not do it with a with a black man
and a man who who's done it before.

Speaker 14 (54:23):
He's proven what he can.

Speaker 3 (54:24):
Do and has artists that you love.

Speaker 16 (54:26):
Yeah, like every artist I love, like Total T one
or twelve called some's like these are Biggie Yeah, yeah,
R and B biggie.

Speaker 14 (54:36):
I was like, I was scared when he said down.

Speaker 3 (54:37):
I know that's a big comparison to have to Yeah,
but I knew what he meant, right.

Speaker 2 (54:42):
He automatically makes people want to say something negative was
about even makes us pay attention.

Speaker 14 (54:47):
That's good. It made you pay attention, that's all.

Speaker 3 (54:49):
And what about what he said R and B is dad?
Did you feel away?

Speaker 5 (54:51):
Yes?

Speaker 9 (54:52):
I did.

Speaker 3 (54:52):
It's like, come on, bro, like im.

Speaker 14 (54:57):
But I understand what you're talking about.

Speaker 3 (55:00):
I get it, Like break it down for as in
your interpretation.

Speaker 16 (55:03):
Okay, it's two interpretations. The first interpretation is labels do
not put enough money into R and B. They treat
R and B like a lost art. Why isn't it
pushed like rap? Second one is R and B used
to be like hip hop and R and B and
now it's kind of like neo soul, okay, which is
like the bop isn't really there, like so even on

(55:25):
the loan, like you can box to it, you know
what I'm saying, but you can but you feel something.
So I feel like the labels stopped putting money in it,
and then the artists have kind of gone a little
bit more like slow. I'm gonna tell you what, Like
Bryson until it came and like he shut the game
DOWNAP Soul, but then everybody tried to do it okay.

Speaker 14 (55:44):
And then like it's its.

Speaker 16 (55:46):
It messed up the frequency of R and B because
everybody's trying to do Bryson sound and Bryson couldn't even
do his sound, so like we lost it, and like,
if you think about it, me and my homies was
having a conversation like when was the last time we
had an R and B clubs one?

Speaker 14 (56:00):
And literally call it and Rihanna Wilt Well thoughts.

Speaker 3 (56:03):

Speaker 14 (56:06):

We love the out the EP it sounds and it
could have been an album, but I guess I feel
like you're putting out a full length project and so

It's well for the album. Everybody run that verse what
we're doing.

Speaker 3 (56:42):
So how is it now? It's easy to make those
phone calls.

Speaker 16 (56:44):
So I've already made like phone calls, like it's just
too easy now, Like I love it, And that's how
I wanted it to be. I didn't want it to
feel like you're doing this because y'all my homies. I
want you to be like, yeah, I want to be
on that yes, and so now it's just easy.

Speaker 3 (56:58):
But honestly, Jagie, thank you so much.

I just had a question because I so I work
a lot, I just had a new baby.

Speaker 8 (58:49):
Congrass appreciate that.

Speaker 12 (58:52):
So I'm just trying to figure out how to sit
still being able to maintain and provide for family.

Speaker 11 (58:56):
How can I keep thinking like kind of spice that with.

Speaker 4 (58:59):
My wife just to make sure she's not feeling any
type of way or you know, feeling neglected.

Speaker 2 (59:05):
Well, I think I'm sure for her being home with
the baby and then you come home, she probably needs
a little bit of a break sometimes too, Yea, because
Jasmine has Jasmine's a newer mom.

Speaker 3 (59:15):
Also, her daughter's not too yet. And what are some
things that help you, Jasmine.

Speaker 4 (59:19):
I think I always need a break, like, yeah, just
take the baby away elsewhere with the baby.

Speaker 3 (59:26):
Just take the baby and get you a moment.

Speaker 4 (59:28):
Yeah, just let me have some free size. So I
think she love Yes, that's really what She'll sleep.

Speaker 2 (59:32):
And supposed to do some laundry, you know, make sure
bring some food home. Whatever it is that you can
do to make things life easier. To check on her
throughout the day. Also even mentally, see how she's doing,
how are you feeling, do you need anything? Let her
know how much you love her. I mean, make sure
you guys are cuddling at night. If you can plan
to do things together, do you guys have anybody that

(59:53):
can help out family to watch the baby so you
can plan things with her, even if it's something at home,
So you guys can have somebody else watch the baby
while y'all are all right, while you're even just cooking dinner,
so both of you don't have to worry about it
and can spend some time together.

Speaker 3 (01:00:07):
That could be helpful.

Speaker 17 (01:00:09):
Okay, yeah, I mean that I was thinking maybe flowers
and stuff like that, but.

even things like, look, somebody to clean the house.

Speaker 9 (01:00:29):

sometimes those services can be pretty inexpensive and such a
great help.

Somebody to watch the bottles and clean the tub and yeah,
just little things that you don't think about.
