Speaker 4 (00:24):
He's in the I'm back, he's back.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
I'm over here. I have to find a gown. I've
never worn a gown in my life.

Speaker 4 (00:31):
No, no, galla.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
I'm going to another gala on Tuesday. It's called the
Miz Foundation ms Foundation.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Yes, indeed.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
And I was with my agent yesterday, Heather, and she
was like, all right, Angela, are you ready for this?

Speaker 2 (00:49):
And I said, yeah, we're ad dressed. She's like, no,
you need a gown.

Speaker 5 (00:52):
So gown has to be like it's a fancier, fancy maybe.

Speaker 4 (00:56):
To the long baby, long baby.

Speaker 5 (00:58):
Yeah okay.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
And I'm short too, so I feel like whatever I
wear has to be like, this is gonna be fun.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
She's gonna have like a tail, like it's just like drags.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Like a tail, right hand, I have to wear a tail.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
You're getting honored, right, No I am not.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
But I'm actually hosting part of it, so I'm speak definite.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Yeah, I think I do have to speak. You know
what I do for a living, right, we know, we
know you don't go nowhere unless you honored it. That's
not on the panel.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
We know that.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
But we're going to talk about that during about last night.
We're gonna have a fun show today. Darryl Fairweather is
going to be joining us. She is a chief economist
for Redfin.

Speaker 5 (01:33):
Sounds like a smart woman.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
She's brilliant. By the way, she went to MI I
T so you know that's not an easy school to
get into at all. And do you guys know what
Redfin is. No, so it's in the United States and Canada.
But when you're trying to like buy a house or
I look at different things, like it can show you
what the climate is like in a certain area, if
there's any type of like flood watches that you have
to be concerned about, if all of those different things

(01:57):
it shows you, like houses for sale, you can comp
whatever's in the area. But right then it's a great
resource for that. I use it all the time.

Speaker 5 (02:03):
Yeah, I use it to see what what houses are
going for in my in my neighborhood from the area
I already have a house in.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Yeah, Yep.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
I get alert every day, like this house is for sale,
this house just sold.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Yeah, so you just like, let you be nosy.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
But there's a lot going on with the housing economy
right now, and so I think she's the type of
person that would be able to shed light on all
of that. You know, people are it's hard for you
to buy homes right now. She'll tell us why, how
is this trending? Is there a recession? But like I said,
she is a chief economist, and so yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:36):
And she could tell us about that whole you know,
those headlines about if my credit is good, am I
going to have a you know, a hard time getting
an interest rate?

Speaker 3 (02:44):
You know you'll get a higher interest right there. Yeah, yeah,
she can explain that to us, right all right, Yes,
she'll be able to explain all of that. But you
know what we do right now, Shine a light on them.
That's how we start to show who do you want
to shine a light on? Eight hundred nine fifty isn't
I'm an call us up shine a light on them.
It's way up an end, Lena, turn your lights on y'all,

(03:07):
spreading love to those who are doing greatness.

Speaker 6 (03:10):
Light.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
It's time to shine a light on them.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Yes, and his way up at Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee.
Jasmine from the Jasmine brand is here and Mano, yeah, yeah, yes,
and it's time to shine it light. That's when you
shout out somebody doing something amazing and positive.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
You know what I want to shine a light on today?
Kevin Lyles?

Speaker 4 (03:34):
Oh wow. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Kevin Lyle is the co founder of three hundred Entertainment.
He also has his own management company. But I had
a a women's dinner last night. Sorry, Mano, that's why
you weren't invited. But we had a women's.

Speaker 5 (03:50):
Women It was for women.

Speaker 4 (03:52):
Invite me.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Kevin did briefly stop by right in the beginning before
everybody got there, just to have a quick drink and
then go to the Jane and Jackson concert. But I
just want to shout out Kevin Lyles because he is
the type of person that is always like, what do
you need? How can I help? What can we do
to make sure that the show way up at the
Angela Yee is successful? Anything you need from me? You know,
that's his question, always like what can I do to

(04:14):
help you? He never asked me for anything. He's always
like just making sure everything is good. And I appreciate that.

Speaker 5 (04:20):
He's also a legend in this business too.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Yeah, he absolutely is a legens.

Speaker 4 (04:23):
I'm all the way from the death Jam days back.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
In the day. So shout out to Kevin Lyles. I
appreciate you.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
Now, you guys, get to shine a light on whoever
it is that you feel like is doing something positive.
Maybe somebody impacted your life. Maybe you watched the story
on the news and you feel like that is amazing.
I want to shine a light on this person. Eight
hundred and two nine two fifty one fifty Nibiya.

Speaker 7 (04:43):
How are you, hey, Angela, how are you doing? I'm good.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
Who do you want to shine a light on?

Speaker 7 (04:49):
I want to shine a light on me and my
mom because I just graduated from you two days ago
and my mom helped me.

Speaker 6 (04:56):
To the way.

Speaker 8 (04:56):
Her name is a Leakier.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Yay, thank you gratulations on graduating. Now what, No, I'm kidding, send.

Speaker 5 (05:05):
Me a moment please.

Speaker 7 (05:07):
She's like, no, yeah, but it was really hard to
getting through college. So I wanted to shout out my
mom because I had a lot of hard ships, family drama,
and just drama in life general. But she like She's
made sure I got through it and she supported me.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
Okay, that's amazing. Shout out to ALITYA. Yeah, mother' Day
is coming up?

Speaker 2 (05:23):
What you're gonna do for her?

Speaker 7 (05:25):
So I'm cooking and I'm doing a lot of yard
work because she always wants something to do to her yard.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
All right, Well, thank you for calling, no found, Thank you,
bye bye?

Speaker 4 (05:35):
What's up?

Speaker 7 (05:35):
Diy Right?

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Who do you want to shine a light on?

Speaker 9 (05:38):
Yo?

Speaker 10 (05:38):
I want to sell the line on this black owned
car dealership. It's called Millennial Auto Group and trait. They
doing their thing. They're getting people with bad creditor proved
in house finance by here pay. They're doing their thing
for show for show.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
All right, that's nice.

Speaker 5 (05:54):
We need to call our Angeloue. We love Detroit.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Yeah, do I need a carent de trade?

Speaker 4 (05:58):
You know what they were in.

Speaker 9 (06:01):
Millennial Auto Group, the steel cards and rent cards.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
All right, we'll be in Detroit again soon.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
You know, we got that building in midtowniate you all right?

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Thank you? Well, that would shine a light on him.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
And of course brought to you by Born in Roma,
by Valentino available at Macy's.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Mother Day's coming up. So that's a great present.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
And when we come back, we have yet and let's
talk about Tory Lanes. He has been denied a new
trial motion. We'll tell you the details. It's way up
at Angela Yee.

Speaker 11 (06:27):
They say, the rooms from industry shade to all the
gossips out Angela's speeling that.

Speaker 12 (06:36):
Whoa.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Well, it is time for the yet on way up
at Angela Yee.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
And Jasmine from the jazzmin brand dot com is here, yes,
and Mano is in the building. All right, Well, Tory
Lanes has been denied a new trial motion in the
Megan thee Stallion shooting case. Now, on Monday, he had
asked the judge to please not ruin his life, and
after several hearings across the multiple days, that request for
a new trial was gnied yesterday by the judge. All Right,

(07:03):
he previously was found guilty of shooting Megan the Stallium.
Now the reason why they said is that there was
just evidence that was overwhelming and the arguments that he
should get another trial are unfounded.

Speaker 5 (07:16):
Okay, So looks like so he's going to be sentenced
in June.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Well, May twenty third, that's when the prosecutor's position on
aggravating factors for his convictions are due, and then on
May twenty fourth, the prosecutor sentencing memo is due, June sixth,
the defense sentencing memo is due, and then he gets
sentenced June thirteenth. That's the timeline, gotcha, all right?

Speaker 13 (07:39):
What may no just unbelievable that we living in a
time where we're seeing stuff like this happened, Like this
is crazy. I still just can't believe that on rappers
in prison for shooting another female rapper, right, that's crazy.

Speaker 4 (07:51):
It was a time when stuff like that didn't even happen.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
I can't believe that that happened either.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
I'm sure crazy, but I'm sure if for Megan is Stallion,
she want to put all this behind her to like,
let's just get this done.

Speaker 5 (08:01):
Yeah and move on. It's got to be painful to
have to hear all the details and people speculating, weighing
in and all that kind of.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
Stuff, because people were really going in on her, like yeah,
for sure, that's right, all right. Now, Paramount Media Network,
Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios are laying off twenty five
percent of their staff in the United States, and MTV News,
which was significantly affected by layoffs more than five years ago.

Speaker 4 (08:24):
It is shutting down.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
That's MTV news used to be it.

Speaker 5 (08:28):
I know.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
I'll show my boy Jason Rodriguez he posted because he
worked at MTV News for a long time. He just
did a post about MTV News from when he worked there.
So they sent out a memo to the staff and
they said, despite paramount success in streaming, we continue to
feel pressure from broader economic headwinds. Like many of our
peers and senior leaders, in coordination with HR have been
working together over the past few months to determine the

(08:52):
optimal organization for the current and future needs of our business.
So they have made that tough but very necessary decision
to reduce our our domestic team by approximately twenty five percent.

Speaker 5 (09:03):
I feel like every few days we're doing a story about.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
Layoffs, absolutely and then the writer's strike is happening right
now too, on top of everything else.

Speaker 4 (09:12):
No more MTV News. We used to look forward to.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
That, remember that, But I'm give it a book.

Speaker 4 (09:16):
I haven't watched it, looked at it.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
In a long time.

Speaker 13 (09:17):
I was just about since we really looked at it.
But it was a time when it was really a thing.

Speaker 5 (09:23):
You remember that little introl right right.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
I didn't even know it was still around, to be honest.

Speaker 5 (09:28):
And maybe that's the problem.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
I don't think. I don't think we Yeah, I think
we all.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
I don't think they were that focused on it.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
Yeah, yeah, we had to be honest. Just now I
think we all fell off.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
Yeh, all right, Well, the Roots Black Thought has announced
a new memoir. I will definitely read that. It's called
The Upcycled Stuff. It's his first ever book, and that's
coming out on November fourteen. So shout out to Tarik
Chatter aka Black Thought, the co.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
Founder and singer.

Speaker 3 (09:51):
But they said singer artists from the Roots, and I
cannot wait to read that because I know he's had
a very interesting life.

Speaker 5 (09:57):
Also, he can write, right can He definitely rhymes yeah,
so you know that means you can write. I'm sure
he has some great stories to share too.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
Yes, indeed, can't wait to hear it. And I feel
like he doesn't really give that much of his personal life.

Speaker 5 (10:09):
He seems mysterious.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
Yeah black Thought, Yeah, Black Thought, all right? And I
d K has talked about collaborating with Saucy Santana. Saucy
Santana is openly gay and he posted on his social
media page, I don't have to be a gay rapper
to put an openly gay rapper on my song. I
heard the beat, and I heard a very talented artist
by the name of Sassy Santana on that beat.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
I love him forever for taking that risk with me.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
Now we have a banger for the summer, that song
Pino Noir, which also features Juicy Fruit.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
Here is a snippet of that song.

Speaker 4 (10:43):
Started getting more.

Speaker 6 (10:46):
Be bron.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Okay, all right, Saucy, I ain't gonna lie.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
I like Saussy Santana. It ain't about whether you know whatever.
He's dope, right.

Speaker 5 (10:59):
I was grooving, yeah, chill bop right.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
And here's what Susy Tantana had to say. He posted,
Let's go appreciate you real and where's do real things?

Speaker 5 (11:07):
Okay.

Speaker 14 (11:09):
So I'm making this video to give a special shout
out to I d K. And I just want to
show gratitude and recognize him for including me in his face,
him being a straight male rapper, me being an openly
gay rapper. A lot of people be scared of the
backlash on what people might think, but I just respect
him for noticing me as talent. He wasn't worried about

(11:31):
what I rap, about who I am, how he thought
I would act for what anyone would think. He just
saw talent.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
Shout out to IDK, Baby, Saucy's lashes are popping, that's why.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
Yeah they are.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
We're gonna get IDK up here too. I've been telling
him next week. Oh he's coming. All right there you go,
all right, well that is your eet. And we have
about last night when we come back, and we had
a time last night. It's way up with Angela Yee.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
And last night, actually Jasmine and I were at a
dinner and you know, shout out to muggerl Rashida Jones
from MSNBC.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
She hosted a dinner for me.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
She was like, let's just celebrate you know what you
have going on here with way up with Angela yee,
because I feel like you haven't taken a moment to
do that now. Maino thinks I'm celebrated all the time. No,
I'm the next one is coming from me at the
Chelsea House.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
Chelsea House.

Speaker 4 (12:41):

Speaker 2 (12:43):
But it was great.

Speaker 3 (12:44):
It was all women who came out to to the
dinner and it was a really nice networking event. It
was It made me feel like I need to do
things like this, you know, more often. THEA Mitcham from
My iHeart was there. Angie Martinez King.

called mathem Magic, and he asked me to talk about
somebody who really inspires me in this field. And Angie
Martinez was the person who I talked about. So she
was there last night.

Speaker 5 (13:17):
She was talking about how much she loves golf too.

Speaker 4 (13:18):
Yes, she goes golfing like every day. She's a dictation.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
It's like meditation for her.

Speaker 4 (13:24):
I played golf really this past summer, like all day. Yeah,
how was it?

Speaker 15 (13:29):
Was?

Speaker 2 (13:29):
It meditated for you?

Speaker 4 (13:30):
It was cool, it was cool.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
I liked it and a beautiful I've never played golf
in my life.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
I understand why do you think that? And then you know,
I was really good on the Wii doing business deals.
I was nice on the week I'm.

Speaker 5 (13:43):
Going to get lessons.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
I was really good on the Wei.

be here today with us in. Darryl Fairweather, the chief
economist from redfind was there. Also Barkou from Essence. You
know the Essence Festival is coming up, right, man, No, do.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
You ever go to Essence Fest?

Speaker 4 (14:11):
You never invited me.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
It's not my festival.

Speaker 13 (14:14):
Yeah, but I feel like you're part of the administration. Yeah,
you've part of the administration.

Speaker 5 (14:20):
You sit on the board side by bark who has triplets. Yep,
six year old triplets.

Speaker 4 (14:25):
Mm hmm, well I got cousins. That's triplets.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
Really, I can imagine being a mom which was three
six year olds. But it's also like all that at once, yeah,
all at one time. Jasmine, have you been to Essence
fest I have okay, she and I.

Speaker 5 (14:38):
Talked about it yesterday, so we'll figure some things out.

Paris Keys does my makeup? Just some times to celebrate
each other thing. Moments like that are really important.

Speaker 5 (15:03):
And we were there, honestly Angela to honor and celebrate you.

Did you get a trophy?

Speaker 5 (15:15):
She did not get a trophy, but no, she did
not get a plaque. But we we gave her our
love and our tension and we said kind words inside
our minds about Angela.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
So I just want to encourage everybody to do things
like this more frequently, like let's take the time to
all get together, let's put together networking events. Let's make
sure we pair people up in the room. Because there
were people there who've spoken but never met in person.
So that was really nice to. You know, it's different
when you get to network in person versus on email
and things like that.

Speaker 5 (15:45):
So it's great to connect with us.

Speaker 3 (15:46):
I had a good time shout out to Marcus Samuels
and we went to his restaurant having mar You know,

Speaker 5 (16:09):
Okay, I don't know where this was going.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
Man, we're going to do that.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
But right now we have Meno's favorite segment, tell us
a Secret that anonymously with no judgments. Okay, this is
the only time Meno has not been a shame to BEG.

Speaker 4 (16:27):
Fifty.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
Tell us a secret. It's the way up at Angela Yee.

Speaker 4 (16:29):
It's a judgment free zone.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
Tell us a secret, Yes, it is way up. Put
Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee. And Jasmine's here from the
Jasmine brand I like that voice.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
Mano is here.

Speaker 4 (16:39):
Everybody's whispering. I don't understand because it's tell us a secret.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
Right to take it down and now so people feel
comfortable pulling in, Yes, telling their secrets, Maya, you have
any secrets plenty and they're going to stay there.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
Yes, sometimes it feel better, it does.

Speaker 4 (16:56):
Try it to tell the secret. You don't want to
try it, definitely, don't want to tell this.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
I'll tell one of main no secrets.

Speaker 4 (17:02):
Great, you know it's crazy that you do. No a couple,
that's crazy, but you do know a few Mayno's eyes.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
You couldn't see how horrified just now when I said that.

Speaker 4 (17:12):
That's why you never know no more, none of you,
no new Mano, no No. That guy felt right before
you choked. You gotta my goodness, you gotta stop. You
gotta stop? Which guy? All right?

Speaker 2 (17:26):
Fifty fifty is a number. I remember you are anonymous.
We are not judging you. Hello, Anonymous caler, how are you?

Speaker 16 (17:33):
What's up?

Speaker 15 (17:34):
Ye?

Speaker 17 (17:34):
How's it going?

Speaker 2 (17:35):
I'm good? Mano and Jasmine are here.

Speaker 4 (17:37):
Hello, what's good? What's up?

Speaker 12 (17:39):
Gang?

Speaker 4 (17:39):
What's up?

Speaker 2 (17:40):
You have a secret for us?

Speaker 12 (17:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 17 (17:43):
I have a secret.

Speaker 7 (17:44):
Hopefully you know my class.

Speaker 17 (17:46):
Don't remember this, but second grade I had to run,
and long story short, I had to go, and I
had to go, and it was in my pants. Luckily
it was in lunchtime, so I panicked. I didn't know
what to do to what I did it was, I
took off my underwear and I hit it in someone's cubby.

Speaker 18 (18:04):
But then.

Speaker 17 (18:06):
I hit it very well in the back of someone's
cobby and we went about two weeks and just like,
the stench kept going and going.

Speaker 13 (18:12):
And going, and so, yeah, that's crazy. But under those circumstances,
you really did the right thing, bro.

Speaker 8 (18:19):
I mean your second grade you know he did second
or right.

Speaker 3 (18:23):
He didn't anything take it to the bathroom, But now,
why didn't you at some point take it out of
the cubby and throw it away?

Speaker 17 (18:30):
Because I was too scared because they was gonna know
it was me the whole time.

Speaker 9 (18:32):
So I was like, you know what, I'm gonna just
let it rock and blame.

Speaker 10 (18:35):
It on someone else.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
And then what happened when you went home and no
underwear on my Well.

Speaker 17 (18:40):
Luckily I didn't tell my mom or anything. I just
went home and put on the first pair underwhere I
could real quick.

Speaker 4 (18:44):
You did the right thing, bro.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
What you were around when they found the underwear?

Speaker 17 (18:49):
I was, and I just acted like the rest of
the classroom. I was like, Yo, that's crazy.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
It was horrified. What disgusting kids?

Speaker 4 (18:57):
This that's so funny.

Speaker 3 (18:58):
Yeah, that's all right.

Speaker 4 (19:01):
Well, thank you for sharing, but not sharing.

Speaker 9 (19:04):
I don't remember that, all right.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
We at least he was in second grade and that
what I'm saying.

Speaker 17 (19:10):
I mean, if it was college, then we got a problem.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
Thank you, hello and at him as caller?

Speaker 9 (19:16):
Hell, I was doing what was going on?

Speaker 4 (19:18):
What's good?

Speaker 2 (19:18):
You want to tell us a secret?

Speaker 9 (19:20):
Yeah, well I'm from Detroit.

Speaker 5 (19:22):
Okay, what up though?

Speaker 15 (19:24):
Yeah? What up?

Speaker 8 (19:25):
Though?

Speaker 9 (19:25):
One day I lost all my.

Speaker 7 (19:26):
Money in the dice game.

Speaker 16 (19:28):
But my so called cousin had spent a night at
my crib and I lost all my money in the
dice game that same night.

Speaker 9 (19:34):
But I made it seem like he stole my money.
So I was going I was going around telling everybody
that he stole my money.

Speaker 10 (19:41):
He told my money thol.

Speaker 8 (19:42):
When certain people seen me see.

Speaker 4 (19:44):
Him, I had to knock him out.

Speaker 13 (19:48):
Again.

Speaker 9 (19:48):
And on top of that, on top of that, his
mom paid me my money back.

Speaker 4 (19:52):
You a whole savage. You al animal, Why would you
do it?

Speaker 8 (19:57):
I never thold nobody just listen.

Speaker 16 (19:59):
I never thought nobody this, But.

Speaker 7 (20:01):
I feel kind of good that I'm saying it now,
feeling good.

Speaker 4 (20:04):
I'm not that person.

Speaker 3 (20:05):
Mother. So you wash your money in the dice game
cause your cousin got the money back from his mind,
but also knocked your cousin out and had anybody.

Speaker 7 (20:16):
Not my real cousin, not my real cousin, not a
friend of the family.

Speaker 4 (20:19):
But I grew up close. You grew up close with him.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, what happened to your relationship after that?

Speaker 5 (20:26):
But why would he? Why would you do that?

Speaker 12 (20:28):
Real cool?

Speaker 8 (20:28):
We're real cool.

Speaker 7 (20:29):
We're real cool now, real cool now?

Speaker 10 (20:31):
Because I'm not the type of person.

Speaker 4 (20:32):
I'm off.

Speaker 9 (20:35):
And I'm like more more of a motivation speaker now, so.

Speaker 5 (20:38):
Right, I'm so why would you? But why would why?
I don't understand the motivation?

Speaker 19 (20:44):
Why why?

Speaker 10 (20:45):
Because I was flat broke, right and I was going
to see my girl the next day.

Speaker 16 (20:50):
And I may seem like I ain't make it, say.

Speaker 9 (20:52):
Like I was just broke from lose my money like
an idiot.

Speaker 8 (20:55):
I'm like, man, somebody to get.

Speaker 4 (21:02):
It was a long time ago, and did you knock
him out in front of people, so everybody. So people
saw him actually asked me it was at school, it
was up after school.

Speaker 2 (21:11):
I'm gona like this would have done.

Speaker 3 (21:16):
Knocked him outational speaker.

Speaker 4 (21:19):
Somebody pulled up.

Speaker 9 (21:20):
Somebody pulled up and hopped out. It was it was
the older man. He hopped out, and he was like,
he shielded him.

Speaker 4 (21:24):
He laid on him.

Speaker 16 (21:25):
He said, leave him alone.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
Okay, so people gonna mess you up.

Speaker 4 (21:28):
I'm like, I am his people. Wow, knocked him out
and saved him.

Speaker 5 (21:35):
Now and now he's a motivational speaker.

Speaker 4 (21:37):
Yeah, well I'm motivated.

Speaker 13 (21:39):
Yeah, you're a motivational speaker though. Man, you got any
motivation for us today?

Speaker 9 (21:43):
Oh, say yourself, be yourself.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
You'll be getting some big bucks. But thank you.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
I love y'all.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
I love you too, man, stay yourself yourself.

Speaker 4 (21:59):
You think that was crazy. I've never heard nothing.

Speaker 3 (22:02):
Like that in my last that's the whole motivation back, Yeah, yeah, yeah,
knock your cousin.

Speaker 4 (22:07):
Yeah, do you knock your cousin out?

Speaker 15 (22:09):
Do you?

Speaker 4 (22:10):
That's the motivation? Well crazy?

Speaker 2 (22:14):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (22:15):
All right.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
Well we appreciate the secrets always.

Speaker 5 (22:18):
That's a good one.

Speaker 2 (22:18):
Yeah, those are good ones. Those are the two good ones?

Speaker 3 (22:20):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (22:21):
Today, But you was judge though, who is you?

Speaker 15 (22:24):
You? Is you?

Speaker 4 (22:25):
Okay? Jasmine is you?

Speaker 5 (22:27):
I just didn't understand the why, that's all. It wasn't
trying to judge. I was trying to overset the papist. Yeah,
I just didn't get.

Speaker 4 (22:31):
Why he was well when I when I never understand
the why, y'all say, I'm judging.

Speaker 3 (22:35):
Okay, Well, I'm just glad you didn't advise your three
some today. Man fifty in case you couldn't get through,
that is the number you can always leave a message.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
And we got e t.

Speaker 3 (22:45):
When we come back, we'll have some explanations for what
happened on the Basketball Wives reunion between.

Speaker 2 (22:51):
Jackie Christy and brook Bai. It's the way you put Angela.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
Just like the like the like they angel he's spelling
it all. This is yeaty way off.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
Yes, it's way I put Angela yee. I'm Angela yee.
Jasmine from the Jasmine brand is here and new mano
Yeah yeah, in the building and we're talking about Basketball
Wives the reunion.

Speaker 2 (23:16):
Now, why do you spot like that?

Speaker 11 (23:18):
Veno?

Speaker 4 (23:19):
What I'm always smiling, Nata?

Speaker 5 (23:22):
You like the show Basketball Wives?

Speaker 3 (23:24):
I haven't watched it in years, But yeah, it was cool,
said MANA. Was just happy to be out here, you know,
woke us. Yes, it's a blessings blessing all right. Well,
one of the things that happened during the reunion that
everybody was talking about, and we talked about it up
here was Jackie Christy and Brooke Bailey got into it
because Brooke Bailly her daughter died in.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
A car accident.

Speaker 3 (23:43):
She was only twenty five years old, and she felt
like Jackie was not supportive at that time. Here's what
originally happened during the reunion.

Speaker 20 (23:50):
When my daughter passed away. You didn't even send a
one flower. You didn't you've been in la. You didn't
knock on my door to give me a hug or
just to sit next to me quietly. You showed absolutely
no support.

Speaker 5 (24:01):
First of all, I didn't know what to say, and
I'm so much people don't I knew that it would
be a touchy situation when I saw you again, I
sat not quiet for hours.

Speaker 4 (24:10):
I have two daughters. I didn't call you, but it
hurt my heart that this happened to you. You had
been through your husband.

Speaker 2 (24:17):
I sat in your house and I talked to you
for hours, So don't sit here.

Speaker 8 (24:20):
Tell me I'm not a friend, because that's a lot
and has nothing to.

Speaker 16 (24:24):
Do with it.

Speaker 5 (24:27):
I didn't know what to say. Hmm wow, okay.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
I think all you can say now is I'm sorry.

Speaker 5 (24:34):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (24:35):
Yeah, I'm sorry that I should have stepped I should
have stepped up.

Speaker 9 (24:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
All right.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
So they've taken the social media to explain and provide
some clarity on what happened now, Brooks said on Twitter.
And to be clear, Jackie Christie sent me a very
generic text days after my daughter passed. But the friendship
that I thought we developed behind the scenes, I expected
so much more from her.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
She knows this. We also discussed it at the reunion.

Speaker 3 (24:58):
Jackie Christie responded, really help everyone to have spreading lies
and hate about such a sensitive topic. I'm truly disappointed
the narrative is being spun in such a way to
insinuate or say I did not call her on the
very morning we all found out. As I said at
the reunion, I spoke to Tyler and sent my love,
prayers and condolences. Here's what else a brook hat to
say in response.

Speaker 21 (25:16):
So, when my daughter passed away, her sending me a
generic text. You know, maybe it was wrong for me
to expect more from her, but I definitely did. You know,
when you consider someone your friend, you expect certain things.
And I know what I would have done for her
if she was in that situation, or how I would
have been there for her. And it's not about her
buying me a flower or flowers doing anything other.

Speaker 6 (25:37):
Than being there for me.

Speaker 21 (25:40):
And if that was me expecting too much, then that's
just what I did. And that's my fault for expecting
more than what she was able to provide.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
And then Jackie Christy went and posted the text messages
to prove that she did text her right and to
reach out. Okay, it is a sensitive topics, it really is. Yeah,
it's crazy that it has to be addressed.

Speaker 2 (25:59):
In this way.

Speaker 4 (26:00):
Was what's the really right way to show your concern?

Speaker 5 (26:04):
There is not one way that's amazing. Yeah, one way.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
Yeah she did text her.

Speaker 3 (26:08):
Yeah, but I guess you feel like if you're really
good friends with somebody, they would do more.

Speaker 5 (26:13):
Yeah, and that's what she was saying, she expected more.
But I appreciate them kind of giving clarity to you know,
on both sides, because it played out on reunion.

Speaker 3 (26:20):
So okay, all right, now here's another Instagram post that
happened one of the members from B five. Remember the
group B five? They were signed a band to a
bad Boy. Here's a snippet of the song say Yes
you don't remember them?

Speaker 4 (26:33):
Signed an I don't remember.

Speaker 3 (26:36):
They had a song of bowwell too.

Speaker 5 (26:39):
Never heard this song A day in My Life Angela.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
Okay, well, anyway, eleven million people people have seen the
video on YouTube. But but justin Michael, who is one
of the members of B five, I recently did a
post and uh it's following the unfortunate murder of Rashida
Williams aka Coco de Dal. He said he wanted to
make his relationship that he has public. He's dating a

(27:01):
film director, D Smith, and he wanted to advocate for
his girlfriend.

Speaker 2 (27:05):
Here's what he had to say.

Speaker 22 (27:07):
My girlfriend, she is transgender, her name is d Smith.
Or I don't want to be one of those men
benefiting from like a transwoman in private, you know, and
not celebrate her publicly. So I feel like it's time
for you know, just men in general, to basically step
up and just own.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
Who we are, all right?

Speaker 3 (27:26):
And D Smith reposted the video and said, I'm so
proud of you. We known each other for almost ten
years now, and every moment with you was always validating.
So many men only dream of being as brave as
you are. Thank you for being the example of a
human just loving a human. I'm so grateful for your heart, ambition,
and spirit.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
I love you.

Speaker 5 (27:43):
I love that.

Speaker 2 (27:43):
Yes, so that they can publicly celebrate and love each other.

Speaker 5 (27:47):
Yeah, I mean they're doing it in private. I mean
it's you who wants to only be loved in private.

Speaker 4 (27:51):
You know, right, You want you want people to let
everybody know to do with you.

Speaker 5 (27:54):
That's not what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
I want somebody to profess any of the ten years though. Yes, yeah, okay, good,
well good for them, Yes, all right, well that is
your Yet when we come back, we have under the
radar stories that are not necessarily headline news stories. But
I feel like today we got to do a headline
news story. I mean, Donald Trump was all over the news.

Speaker 13 (28:17):
News.

Speaker 4 (28:17):
This in the news that relates to you.

Speaker 1 (28:19):
These stories are flying under the radar.

Speaker 3 (28:22):
Yes, it is way up at Angela ye Angela yee.
And Jasmine is here from the Jasmine Brandy and Mano
is here. Yes, I am new Mano, and listen today.
This story is not under the radar. You know, I've
been following this Egen Carol versus Donald Trump. Aging Carroll's
is like his dis Egen Carrol. Yeah, that's her name.

Speaker 4 (28:43):
Well he called the aging Oh did he did?

Speaker 2 (28:47):
He said?

Speaker 15 (28:48):
All?

Speaker 3 (28:49):
All right, Well, federal jury in New York did find
that Donald Trump is liable for battery and for defamation
and the civil trials, so he has to pay her
five million dollars in damages.

Speaker 2 (29:01):
The jury was made up of six men and three women.

Speaker 3 (29:04):
And I was actually watching the news this morning on MSNBC,
and they were saying how people would have looked at
that jury and been like, this is not good because
it's six men on it, right, right, But it turns
out that they did do the right thing, you know,
a lot. Yes, And so they did find that he
was guilty of Now it's not rape necessarily sexual assault, right,

(29:28):
and defamation. So what she claims that he sexually assaulted
her in addressing at Bergdorf Goodman in a department store
in the dressing room. O. Yes, okay, And so here
is the deposition that I think really shows and did
not help. It was not in his favor. Here's what
Donald Trump the audio they use from the deposition.

Speaker 2 (29:48):
It's true stars that they can grab women by the well,
that's what that's.

Speaker 23 (29:52):
If you look over the last million years, I guess
that's been largely too, not always, but largely true.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
Unfortunately or for and you consider yourself to be a star, I.

Speaker 4 (30:03):
Think you can say that.

Speaker 13 (30:06):
So the fact that if you look over the last
million years, Yeah, I don't know if he really is
crazy or if he really just believe what he's.

Speaker 4 (30:15):
Saying, like I'm not.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
I mean, that's if you really believe that that's just
what it is, then that kind of shows that why
would you have an issue with doing something that's.

Speaker 2 (30:25):
What you feel like?

Speaker 5 (30:26):
You can you imagine being a part of Trump's team
and hearing him say that, and you're like, oh, my goodness.

Speaker 4 (30:31):
Right, because he believes stars could just do whatever they want.

Speaker 12 (30:34):
Now.

Speaker 3 (30:34):
E g And Carroll, in the meantime, said that this
was one of the best days of her life. She
was on Good Morning America today and here's.

Speaker 15 (30:42):
What she said, how do you feel I felt fancastic yesterday.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
It was probably the happiest day of my life.

Speaker 15 (30:50):
Despite prosecutors and special counsels and investigators piling all these
legal snarls up to Trump. It was this five foot
three wiley female attorney and this elderly seventy nine year
old advice columnists who are finally holding Donald Trump libel.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
Well, there you have it.

Speaker 3 (31:16):
And I don't think anybody really thought that this would
happen because he's been getting away with.

Speaker 13 (31:19):
So much right right, because he made that statement a
while ago and he still didn't mess him up. He
still was president after that.

Speaker 3 (31:27):
And it's crazy because I think he has a town
hall today too with MCNN. Yeah, so we'll see what
happens with that. But Donald Trump also after the verdict,
went on his social media platform truth Social, and he
had some things to say about the judge and the jury.

Speaker 23 (31:43):
You expect from a Trump Haiti Clinton appointed judge who
went out of his way to make sure that the
result of this trial was as negative as it could
possibly be. Speaking to and in control of a jury
from an anti Trump area, which is probably the worst
place in the United States for me to get a

(32:03):
fair trial. Will be appealing this decision. It's a disgrace.
I don't even know who this woman is this is
another scam. It's a political witch hunt and somehow we're.

Speaker 4 (32:14):
Gonna have to fight this.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
You know what else they did during the deposition that
was funny. They he said that Egen Carroll was quote
not his type. But during the deposition they showed him
a picture from the late eighties that appears to depict
Donald Trump and Egen Carroll in conversation with their then spouses,
and he identified Egen Carroll incorrectly as his ex wife

(32:37):
Marla Maples.

Speaker 15 (32:38):
Ye.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
So then they were like, well, it does seem like
that's your type if you thought that was Yurnich's wife.
Well the picture all.

Speaker 3 (32:44):
Right, well that is you're under the raider and you know,
we have the way it mixed coming at the top
of the hour. Plus we do have my girl, Darryl
Fairweather joining us. She is the chief economist for redfin.
It is a Wealth Wednesday, and she's going to be
telling us all about the real estate market and what's
going on now. She did to be nervous to be investing,
to be trying to house flip.

Speaker 2 (33:02):
What's the dale? It's the way up at Angela.

Speaker 15 (33:04):
Ye.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
Sure, she's about to blow the lead above this bot.

Speaker 6 (33:06):
Let's get it.

Speaker 1 (33:08):
Angela's feeling that yeez, come and get.

Speaker 2 (33:10):
To see what's up. It's way put Angela yee. I'm
Angela Yee.

Speaker 3 (33:14):
Jasmine from the Jasmine brand is here and new Mano
Mana with the yeas and we really mean it this time.

Speaker 2 (33:20):
There is new Mano now.

Speaker 3 (33:22):
Congratulations Macy Gray, California Jet Club and new Mano. Yeah,
you have the number one added R and B record
in the country. You are featured on this Macon song. Yeah,
and it is called every Night. All right, here's here's
a snippet for you guys.

Speaker 4 (33:42):
Going hard, hanging on. That was inspirational and aspirational alter.

Speaker 5 (33:56):
What okay, that's dope. He woke up to that news or.

Speaker 13 (34:04):
What I got the news yesterday. Shout out to Macy
Grayey California Jet Club. They put that together, put me
on the record and it's not.

Speaker 3 (34:12):
A yeah okay, man, those songs do be mainnovational. It's
not from the ones that's nasty nasty, but yeah, okay,
all right now. According to Radar Online, Jamie Fox's family
is praying that he will fully recover, but they're also
preparing for the worst.

Speaker 6 (34:32):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (34:32):
According to a source, he said he's doing okay and improving,
but they also feel like he wouldn't be in the
hospital this long if he was anything close to okay.

Speaker 5 (34:40):
Oh man, Yeah, that's super it's uh concerning, I'll say
that super concerning.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
Yes, So prayers for Jamie Fox again and for his
family that everything is going to be okay, all right,
Jonathan Majors he could be in prisoned for up to
a year if he has found guilty of a charge
in this domestic Island's case. Now, this attorney has been
slamming proceedings as a byproduct of the racial bias that
permeates the criminal justice system. And he had to appear

(35:09):
virtually for a hearing, and so all you hear him
saying really is yes, ma'am. And they said the next
hearing is June thirteenth. The judge said he has to
appear in person for that one. So he has to
be in court on June thirteenth. If not, there'd be
a warrant for his arrest within forty eight hours. And
if you're brought back on the warrant, the next judge
can revoke and even set bail.

Speaker 13 (35:28):
Okay, He's a clear example of getting knocked right back
down immediately.

Speaker 2 (35:33):
I mean, we don't know what's going to end up
happening with that one, right.

Speaker 4 (35:36):
White man, give it, take it away.

Speaker 3 (35:39):
I don't know if INVA, I don't know. I don't
know if that's accurate for this this case.

Speaker 4 (35:44):
Why not all of those deals he had?

Speaker 5 (35:46):
Yeah, but I don't know if that wasn't anyone's fault.

Speaker 3 (35:49):
They sa nobody's fault. I'm just saying, it's when nobody's
like standing by, like nobody's standing next to that.

Speaker 5 (35:56):
Right, Yeah, understand taking away all.

Speaker 13 (35:58):
Of those situations, all these roles, all of these opportunities, right,
you know.

Speaker 2 (36:04):
Said, well, we'll see if it was his own fault.

Speaker 5 (36:06):
Yeah, we'll see.

Speaker 3 (36:07):
Lil Wayne is reflecting on his iconic one hundred plus
feature running two thousand and seven.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
I don't think anybody could do that many.

Speaker 3 (36:15):
Features like that, So people would say, oh, he's being oversaturated,
you're doing too much. But for Little Wayne, that really
worked to his advantage. And he actually did a sit
down with Missy Elliott about that, and here's what he
had to say.

Speaker 2 (36:28):
This is for TV ones uncensored in two.

Speaker 3 (36:30):
Thousand and seven, they said that you did over a
hundred collaboration features.

Speaker 24 (36:37):
Yeah, I was only I was only acknowledged for seventy.

Speaker 7 (36:40):
Seven of them.

Speaker 3 (36:40):
I don't even think it was another artist playing on
a radio day.

Speaker 6 (36:44):
That's real.

Speaker 24 (36:45):
I remember being able to get in my car every
second d on that. I don't care if I was
if I got the station wrong, I couldn't. I switched
to a pop station by mistake. I'm still on that mother.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
All right, there you go.

Speaker 4 (37:00):
That Wayne Wave was crazy.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
Yeap, no ceilings and he could do whatever he wants
to do for the rest of his life.

Speaker 9 (37:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 15 (37:07):
Good.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
If you want to do more music, if you want
to just tour, if you want to do a TV show,
he's gonna make some money.

Speaker 25 (37:12):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (37:13):
All right, well that is your yee te. And when
we come back, uh what did we Oh?

Speaker 3 (37:20):
We were talking about this and this is based off
of the story of Shaquille O'Neill.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
You know, they were trying to.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
Serve him for quite some time for this case and
they finally managed to catch up with him. But he's
still saying he didn't properly get served because I guess
they threw it at him in the car the papers.
So we want to talk about what is the process
of getting served and can you just say throw it
on the ground and say I wasn't served. But we
actually have an attorney who's going to give us the

(37:45):
details on that. And then clearly, man know, we want
to hear from you. It's you ride a way up
with Angela. Ye yes, it is way up with Angela yee.
I'm Angela yee. Jask from the Jasmine brand is here
and Mano is here yep yeah and out of yet
we were talking about Shaq. Now he is saying that

(38:08):
he was not served adequately. These court papers. They would torst.
That is moving car. And I wanted to see what
happens when you don't get served properly. What is the
protocol because I wanted to know. We have an expert
on the line. He is the law Bulldog, Adam Ormlin.
You can follow him at law Bulldog.

Speaker 2 (38:24):
Hey Adam, what's up?

Speaker 4 (38:25):
How are you good?

Speaker 9 (38:26):
Angela?

Speaker 15 (38:27):
How are you?

Speaker 3 (38:27):
And I wanted to ask you this question about getting
served court papers. We see that Shaq is trying to
dismiss this lawsuit. He says that they did not serve
him these court papers adequately. They were tossed. He said
of his moving car. Now, what is the deal with
serving somebody? Because I've seen people duck getting those papers.
But what is the real situation? Because are you still
liable if you just don't touch them, if you let

(38:49):
them fall to the ground.

Speaker 9 (38:51):
Every state has different procedures on what proper service is.
Dodging the process server for more set of time doesn't
necessarily get you out of the lawsuit or you're getting
served properly at some point.

Speaker 2 (39:06):
So what if they never catch you?

Speaker 9 (39:08):
I mean they're probably always going to catch you. There
are different procedures set up, Like in New York you
can you can mail and serve basically mail to the
last known business or address that you were at, and
then you also nail it to that post the address.
I mean, there's no way to really get out of
it outside of maybe passing away.

Speaker 3 (39:30):
Okay, face the music, might as well just not run
from them, all right, But thank you guys can follow
Adam Orland at low Bulldog.

Speaker 2 (39:38):
Okay, thank you so much for always checking in.

Speaker 9 (39:40):
I appreciate you. Thank you so much.

Speaker 4 (39:42):
Hey.

Speaker 2 (39:42):
The main thing here is have you all ever been served?
H jasmine?

Speaker 5 (39:46):
I don't think I've ever been served. I've definitely have
you know stuff mailed to me?

Speaker 3 (39:50):
Yeah, I guys have been mailed to me too, certified
stuff mail, certified mail.

Speaker 2 (39:56):
What about you, man?

Speaker 13 (39:56):
No, yeah, I've can serve you start a laughing before
you even got the question. Now, like you knew, I've
been served already. I got served before, back a few
years ago. Well my son was younger. Back then, when
my my son's mother thought she wanted to take me
to court, she thought, yeah, she thought.

Speaker 2 (40:13):
Thought, so where were you? Tell me how it happened.

Speaker 13 (40:17):
What happened was I want to pick up my son
from his aunt. I think it was at a clinic
or something. I want to hear like a point, man,
I want to pick him up. And when when I
When I.

Speaker 4 (40:27):
Was when I got there, she was leaving. And what
she did was she left out and then ran back
in and said, oh I forgot this is for you, right?
And it was his aunt.

Speaker 2 (40:38):
Okay, because the person can't serve you, it has to
be someone else.

Speaker 4 (40:42):
Oh I didn't know that neither.

Speaker 13 (40:44):
So she she walked out, walked out first, and then
spent back and was like, oh I forgot these are yours.

Speaker 2 (40:52):
She probably thought about it for a second.

Speaker 4 (40:54):
No, no, no, that was a part of the plan.

Speaker 2 (40:56):
I know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (40:57):
I wouldn't want to do that, Okay, that was that
was a whole part of the plant. And off of reaction,
I grabbed it. I got served. I'm like, what was it?

Speaker 12 (41:08):
Like?

Speaker 1 (41:08):
What is this?

Speaker 4 (41:09):
You got?

Speaker 5 (41:09):
You got served? And you actually looked at the documents? Right?

Speaker 2 (41:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (41:12):
Because I didn't. It was in the Manila envelope.

Speaker 13 (41:14):
And I was confused that what she was giving me
right right, because at the dint off she ran right
back Yeah, she ran right back out.

Speaker 4 (41:22):
And it was like, oh, what is this? And I
looked and I was served. Wow, how did you?

Speaker 3 (41:26):
How did you feel? Going to ask you that, I
felt like, baboo. Did you think to throw it on
the ground or I kept it?

Speaker 4 (41:36):
I was like, all right, I had another plan though.
It was a plan not to come to court.

Speaker 2 (41:41):
That's a terrible pla work. You didn't go to court.

Speaker 4 (41:45):
It worked, actually, Like, how do you just not go
to court?

Speaker 13 (41:48):
Because I knew that my my son's mother wasn't going
to keep up with it, Okay, I was just getting
the court.

Speaker 5 (41:56):
Did you did you hold a groage against your against
the aunt or you kind of moved past nadge.

Speaker 4 (42:01):
I mean this is a sister.

Speaker 5 (42:02):
Yeah, she's supposed to do that, but you know, you know,
I feel like may No kind of heldles a grudge sometimes.

Speaker 3 (42:07):
There you go.

Speaker 5 (42:08):
So I was wondering in this case, but this was a.

Speaker 4 (42:09):
Judge free zone.

Speaker 2 (42:11):
That's a fact. Then if you need me to serve anybody,
I will do you. I might have some people, Okay.

Speaker 3 (42:17):
At one time I was leaving the station and somebody
I'm not gonna name names, he got served, like while
we were walking to the car.

Speaker 4 (42:25):
Oh my, he was walking.

Speaker 3 (42:27):
We just were walking in the same direction, and his
child's mother was in the car watching as he got
served by somebody else. And he was so mad he
just threw the stuff on the ground. Listen, and the
person that served him like did a spin around dance move. Yeah,
that's crazy. I was like, what's happening.

Speaker 1 (42:45):
Listen.

Speaker 5 (42:46):
I was dating this guide this one time and he
somebody knocked on the door. He went to the door, whatever,
came back with an attitude. I'm like, what's wrong with you?

Speaker 4 (42:53):
Like nothing?

Speaker 2 (42:55):
And then later he told me he got.

Speaker 4 (42:56):
Served his wife at this time, getting served.

Speaker 5 (43:00):
His wife, So yeah, he had an attitude.

Speaker 2 (43:02):
I'm like, what's wrong with you?

Speaker 5 (43:03):
He came back home? Disposition change?

Speaker 3 (43:06):
I bet all right, Well these are our serves stories
because somebody was trying to call me one time, and
I guess the process server or whatever, but I.

Speaker 4 (43:16):
Was, you know, he was nowhere around.

Speaker 2 (43:18):
I didn't even know who the person was.

Speaker 3 (43:20):
I was like, I was trying to get to get
to what I got a certified mail ahead. Yes, all right, Well,
if you guys want to leave a message and tell
your stories, we'll definitely play them at the end of
the show today. But it is a Wealth Wednesday, and
my Wealth Wednesday partner, Stacy Tisdale is about to come
in the room, and we have Darryl Fairweather joining us.

Speaker 2 (43:37):
She is the chief economist for redfin.

Speaker 3 (43:40):
So everybody who is interested in real estate, who is
watching the news and wondering what is going on when
mortgages right now? Are people buying homes? Is it a
good time to buy? Is it a good time to sell?
Is it a recession? All of those questions. We do
have an expert on hand. It's Wealth Wednesday. Where you
put Angela yee hey, yeah, she.

Speaker 1 (43:59):
Back at bring bringing the way up with Angela is on.

Speaker 2 (44:04):
Yes, it's way up with Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee.

Speaker 4 (44:08):
You are Angelie.

Speaker 3 (44:09):
I am the nicest person, right and from there also
really nice yes, nice people, nice people. Yes, and yes man, no,
we are here. We've been having a fun time with you.
And congratulations. By the way, on what are you laughing?

Speaker 4 (44:25):
Am I getting honored?

Speaker 2 (44:26):
Yes, we're honoring you.

Speaker 5 (44:28):
Yeah, that's a big deal. Yeah, that's a big deal.

Speaker 4 (44:30):
For what about this? Oh I thought I was getting
for the other thing.

Speaker 2 (44:34):
No, we can't say that on the radio, right, you
really funny? But yes, so I think that's how did
that even come about?

Speaker 13 (44:43):
Macy Gray, I got a relationship with her. I had
actually put on on a song of mins I remember
years ago, maybe about twenty nineteen, and we got cool,
you know. I would come to LA and we were vibe,
met a family, metal kids, and so when she was
coming back out, she was like, I got the song
I want to put you on.

Speaker 4 (45:02):
And we did it doing well.

Speaker 2 (45:05):
Yeah, And so to be clear, this is the number
one added R and B record in the.

Speaker 4 (45:10):
Country, the country. Yes, right, yeah, look at that dope.

Speaker 2 (45:14):
So congratulations you're a dope song too.

Speaker 5 (45:17):
It is You're a blessed Mano, we all are we are. Yeah,
I'm just talking about you though. I think this is
a this is a blessing.

Speaker 4 (45:22):
Is this sort of like a honor?

Speaker 3 (45:25):
Yeah, so we would like to honor you, really, yeah,
we would. I'm going to get you a smoothie or juice.

Speaker 13 (45:32):
I thought I was getting a black or maybe like
a trophy. It's in the way, a metal in the smoothie.

Speaker 5 (45:39):
Yeah, everyone listening. Man and Angela, you kill my cheese its?

Speaker 1 (45:47):
Well?

Speaker 5 (45:48):
I bring cheese it a few times a week and.

Speaker 4 (45:50):
They juice in the morning.

Speaker 2 (45:53):
I actually have video footage.

Speaker 4 (45:55):
I bet you do. I bet you do? You do
that stuff? I bet you do. Yes.

Speaker 3 (46:03):
But yeah, so thank you so much Jasmine for the
cheese its and Mano, you are blessed and congratulations on
this honor today. Guys, make sure you check that out
every and it is a wealth Wednesday when we come back.
We do have chief economists from Redfinn Daryl Fair whether
they joining us. She's super amazing, went to MIT University
of Chicago, has her PhD.

Speaker 2 (46:24):
Okay, and yeah, I think you know.

Speaker 3 (46:28):
For me, I love to be around people like this
who are smarter than me in different fields and I
learn a lot from her. I follow her on social media.
That's how I actually even know her. She was at
your dinner last night, Yes, since she came to my
dinner last night. So I'm just excited to have her on.
It's way Up with Angela. Ye Wealth Wednesday.

Speaker 1 (46:43):
Hey, yeah, she's back at it.

Speaker 3 (46:50):
With Angela is on talking to Darryl Fairweather, the chief
economists for real estate site Redfinn.

Speaker 2 (46:56):
What about renting, right, some people feel like I have
to own a home.

Speaker 3 (46:59):
I have to buy a home, but in certain instances,
And I was just reading an article about this how
you should just rent and if you're not in the
position to own, just relax.

Speaker 18 (47:09):
Yeah, I'm not against renting. I think the thing people
need to be aware of is you still need to
save home ownership is automatic savings. When you pay your
mortgage payment, part of it goes to the equity and
that builds up your wealth. If you're renting, just make
sure that you're still setting aside money for like your
four oh one K, your kid's college savings, or whatever
it may be. And if it's not automatic already, you
set up in automatic system so you're always putting away

(47:30):
money every month and you still have that benefit.

Speaker 26 (47:32):
The parameters are supposed to be never spend more than
thirty percent of your income on your house. I don't
know anybody right who can stick.

Speaker 2 (47:40):
To that rule and see in New York.

Speaker 26 (47:41):
Yeah, and also make sure that you're gonna if you're
gonna buy something, that you're gonna stay in it or
invest in it for at least five years. How important
is that and how difficult is that?

Speaker 18 (47:52):
I think for a lot of people it's unrealistic for
the thirty percent limit, especially if you're a renter. I mean,
I think people should think about it long term. It's
okay spend a little bit more than that if it
means that you're living in a place where you have
a good job, where you'll earn more.

Speaker 6 (48:05):
In the long run.

Speaker 18 (48:05):
I think you should think about it more as a
long term decision. But make sure that you have money
for the things that are emergencies, like that housing cost,
whether it's a mortgage payment or rental payment, it's going
to be there every single month, and you need to
figure out a way to make that payment no matter
what happens.

Speaker 5 (48:21):
How can you assess whether or not you are ready
to buy a home, like say you're renting right now,
and you want to know, like, can I really afford this?
How do you kind of assess if you can financially
do it?

Speaker 18 (48:32):
I think you should, you know, get out the paper
and pen and write down your budget. Figure out exactly
what you're spending on every category, and also think about
how that might change when you become a homeowner. Maybe
you're going to be spending more money on your lawn
or landscaping or home improvements. Maybe you're living farther away
from your job and you need to commute longer. Maybe
you're closer to your job and you commute less. Like
all those things will change. You need to make sure

(48:52):
that your budget is reasonable and that you have a
little bit extra left over for that rainy day fund.

Speaker 3 (48:58):
We're taking a Darrow Fairwell that the chief economists for
real estate site redfin.

Speaker 2 (49:03):
Now, you also have a book coming out.

Speaker 3 (49:05):
Next year, but yeah, we can talk about it and
start talking about it now, Okay, because that's very exciting.
So let's talk about Darrow Fairwood because you're going to
share some of your story with us, which I think
is so interesting for people to know.

Speaker 2 (49:17):
So what made you decide this was the time? For
a book.

Speaker 18 (49:19):
Well, you know, I feel like I've gone to this
point in my career where I'm pretty well established, and
I wanted to write down, like how I got here
before I forget it, before I kind of get out
of touch. And also as an economist, there are so
few women of color, black women who are economists, and
I really wanted to break it down economics for someone
like me ten years ago, Like I wanted to put

(49:41):
it in terms that would be exciting to me. A
lot of the times economics textbooks and lectures they focus
on white men. They tell their stories, But we have
stories too that apply to economics.

Speaker 3 (49:51):
Yeah, I said that because we got a little bit
of a tease of it. So Freakonomics was a book
that kind of changed your viewer.

Speaker 6 (49:57):
Yeah, yeah, Steve Love it was my advice are in
grad school.

Speaker 3 (50:00):
I was out there, Yeah, that is not a game.
But so your parents, this is not necessarily what they
wanted you to do.

Speaker 6 (50:06):
No, No, my dad was warning me not to go
into economics.

Speaker 18 (50:08):
I went to MIT for undergrad and he thought I
was going to be an engineer, and when I told
him I wanted to economics, he was concerned that I
was going to face prejudice. I was going to face
bias because economics can be subjective. It's not like just
math and science, where the right answer is the right answer.
Economists don't want to admit this, but economics is subjective,
and because there are so many white men who dominate
the field, we usually only see it from their perspective.

(50:31):
So on the one hand, I knew I would face
like a disadvantage there being not that many role models
for me. But on the other hand, like I felt
like an obligation kind of to be one of these
people that breaks into the field.

Speaker 26 (50:41):
It's a lot to admire work. So I started at
Wall Street as a cash manager and then was about
to go into an economics training program.

Speaker 4 (50:48):
And that's exactly when I raised my hand.

Speaker 26 (50:50):
And I said, this is not what I wanted to do.

Speaker 5 (50:52):
That was a long time ago.

Speaker 3 (50:54):
Well, so what we get to read about some of
the opsicles that you had to face, because I have
to imagine in many rooms and spaces might be the
only black woman.

Speaker 18 (51:01):
I was the only black woman to ever get a
PhD from the University of Chicago and economics, and I
believe that's still true. So yeah, yeah, So I mean,
there are like subtle ways where it's a bit rough,
just because like you don't have people that look like
you that can be friends with you and they're like
also subtle things like you know, who gets picked for
your study group or the way the professors treat you

(51:22):
or view your potential. Yeah, it was it was something
to overcome. But I'm here.

Speaker 3 (51:28):
I feel like I have seen Darrow Fairweather. When I
was young, I'd have been like, I want to be
an economist.

Speaker 5 (51:33):
Yeah, because you don't really I feel like we don't
really hear a lot about these kind of professions and
the kind of work that you do.

Speaker 6 (51:39):
Yeah, and economists get paid, So I feel like.

Speaker 2 (51:43):
It's true.

Speaker 18 (51:44):
I think that like people don't see it as a
path for them. There are so many like niche professions
that people don't hear about.

Speaker 6 (51:49):
But this is a path for people.

Speaker 25 (51:50):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (51:51):
It's Wealth Wednesday and my partner Stacy Tisdale is here
with me as she is for Wealth Wednesdays, and we
also have Darryl Fairweather with us. She is the chief
he kind of mister Redfinn. We have more details about
the housing market when we come back. It's way up
with Angelayee.

Speaker 1 (52:09):
You've had a way up with Angela Yee.

Speaker 2 (52:11):
What's up? Its way up with Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee.

Speaker 3 (52:14):
Jasmine from the Jasmine brand is here and my partner
in Wealth Wednesdays, Stacy tis Day is here. Our special
guest is Daryl Fairweather. She's the chief economist at Redfinn.

Speaker 2 (52:23):
Where in the United.

Speaker 26 (52:24):
States do you think is a good place to be
buying real estate regionally?

Speaker 18 (52:29):
It kind of depends on your personal preference. If it's
just a pure investment play. Angelae's smart like Detroit is
on the up and up, like it started from such
an affordable place and it just keeps rising. Alpaso is
really affordable. They always top our list of places that
are going up in value. It's the more affordable markets
that have the most room to grow, right and.

Speaker 2 (52:46):
Look with Detroit, what I like about it.

Speaker 3 (52:48):
I always feel like it's important to invest in place
that you're familiar with, So I'm very familiar with Detroit.
I'm not a fan of not going someplace and seeing
what's happening there, so I really had to go see
the building. It's in Midtown. It's an amazing area. Jasmine
has invested also, so I'm excited for that. Part of
what I want to do, just like what you're doing,

(53:08):
is encourage people to come together. If you can't do
it on your own, why not put a group together
to go ahead and invest in real estate and then
have people on board who really know what they're doing
and then can help direct you. Because I feel like
once you get in that space, people really do want
to help you. You know, people do want to support
the fact that, like you're doing something, but you just
I was like, I don't want to ask anybody for

(53:28):
anything until we close because I didn't want to start
talking to people about different things. And I think it's
important for people to also know about grants that are
available and all types of programming that's available on redfin.
Do they have information like that, because I think that
would be invaluable for people to see what's available in
the city if you're buying or you're investing.

Speaker 18 (53:46):
So we do have information about down payment assistance, so
if you qualify for that, you can click the link
and get connected with organizations that can help you with that.
And also like, yeah, you can filter by a price,
you can filter by a type of building and see
all the information. Also things like transit and walkability. A
big expense for people and they're buying a home is
actually their car. So living somewhere walkable or transit oriented

(54:08):
and actually save.

Speaker 4 (54:08):
People a lot of money fortune in New York.

Speaker 6 (54:10):
Yeah, definitely.

Speaker 4 (54:11):
Will you tell people what redfin is.

Speaker 18 (54:13):
So, redfin is a tech powered real estate brokerage. We
have our website, we have our app. You can go
on there and see all the homes are for sale.
We have rentals now, we have our mortgage company of title.

Speaker 6 (54:23):
We do everything.

Speaker 3 (54:24):
Yeah, really standing, I get on my because you know,
I go on redfinn when I look at real estate,
and even when I'm not buying, I like to see
what's happening. So what I like is redfind also gives
you information articles. I like to see what's for sale
in a neighborhood where I have something, so I can
understand the value of what it is that I'm doing.
So right now, I just you know, I'm a little
cash poor because we just did this last investment, but

(54:47):
I'm always paying attention to what's happening in neighborhoods that
I'm interested in, and so I get a lot of
updates from Redfin throughout the day.

Speaker 18 (54:52):
So yeah, and we have all kinds of data to
everything from school quality, walkability, transit climate score is like
anything you would need to know. Air quality that's a
new one, so everything you'd want to know. That's one
of that people don't really think about. Like you're moving somewhere,
your kids are going to be living there. You want
to know if it's going to.

Speaker 5 (55:07):
Be can be a great And I think, like I'm
a new mom, but I didn't care about stuff like
that until I had a kid. I didn't think of
changes the rules or an environment. I wouldn't think about
anything like that. I wouldn't care about my lung.

Speaker 2 (55:18):
But right well, listen, I love the fact that you're there.

Speaker 3 (55:21):
That's why I'm like, Okay, refin is where I go
for everything now, So down Fairweather, thank you so much
for joining us. I know we're going to keep on
having you up here on way. Anytime you're in town,
just make sure you please hit me up because this
is information that I feel like we always need to
make sure that we keep on refreshing because it changes
a lot too.

Speaker 15 (55:39):
Oh.

Speaker 6 (55:39):
I would love to be back. Thank you soon.

Speaker 26 (55:40):
I'll definitely been back when We want to definitely have
you that closer to when your book comes on.

Speaker 6 (55:45):
I love that we're building hype like.

Speaker 26 (55:49):
Your book, and I have to hype a new member
of the Wealth Wednesday's family Tonight at eight pm on
Teamy Facebook page, we have Wealth Wednesdays after party with
Jay White Premier. Everybody go to Teamy Facebook page tonight
at eight pm and his first guest, the one and
only Twanda Braxton, talks about a new entrepreneurial venture.

Speaker 3 (56:09):
So okay, yep, we got all the previews out now,

Speaker 6 (56:31):
You can call me Darryl Rose Fairweather. Feminize it.

Speaker 1 (56:36):
All right.

Speaker 3 (56:36):
Well, let's wait up at Angela Yee Wealth Wednesday, and
when we come back, we have asked ye if you
have any questions, you can call us up right now.

Speaker 2 (56:43):
Eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty is way up.

Speaker 11 (56:46):
Whether it's relationship for career advice, Angela's dropping facts.

Speaker 1 (56:50):
You should know this as gee.

Speaker 2 (56:52):
What's up? Its way up at Angela Ye, and it's
time for ask yee.

Speaker 4 (56:56):
Now.

Speaker 3 (56:57):
This is where you guys get to call in and
ask us about anything that is on your mind, anything
that you might need some help or support with. And
the number is eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty.
Today we have somebody who wants to remain anonymous. Hello,
anonymous callaire, what's your question?

Speaker 8 (57:11):
My husband has mental issues and there are calls for
a lot of art issues. He isn't interested at the.

Speaker 19 (57:16):
Time to get mental help. Sometimes he says he is
an other times he says he's not interested. We have
young children and I don't want his habits. It's not
helped to soon reflect over the children.

Speaker 8 (57:26):
My question is what should I do?

Speaker 19 (57:28):
Should I try to do whatever my children and leave
him or should I take my marriage and my styles
for better or for worse?

Speaker 12 (57:37):
Right?

Speaker 3 (57:37):
And so when you say that he agrees to get
help and get counseling, do you guys show up someplace?

Speaker 2 (57:45):
Are you trying to do it online? Is it him
by himself?

Speaker 8 (57:47):
Is it well, we've done both.

Speaker 19 (57:50):
We've tried to do public counseling. We've also tried to
do individual counseling. He'll make the appointment, he'll agree to go,
and then like sometimes the day or the day before,
he'll be like, I'm I don't want to do it.

Speaker 8 (58:02):
Okay, same thing with other stuff as well. He's just
a whole bunch of just things.

Speaker 12 (58:08):
But we have, like I said, three young children, and
it's difficult to leave him because I've known him for
so long. I've known him since I was twenty four
right now, right so, and we're sitting together for so long.

Speaker 8 (58:19):
It's hard to leave him. But a lot of people
are telling me this, that's for me the children to
step away.

Speaker 3 (58:26):
All right, Well, there's a couple of things. Have you
guys tied online counseling or is it only in person?

Speaker 8 (58:31):
We've only did try in person. We have not cried online.

Speaker 3 (58:35):
Well, I would recommend at least trying that because maybe
it'll be easier if he doesn't have to show up
somewhere and if it's like, Okay, you can do this
from the comfort of home. I feel like you're doing
everything you can right, You're encouraging him to go get counseling.
You want to go with him, You're very kind to him.
You guys have children together. And this is something that
I've heard from counselors and therapists non stop that first

(58:58):
and foremost, you cannot sacrifice your own mental health to
help somebody else, because now you have two people that
are suffering, right and so what are you doing to
take care of yourself?

Speaker 2 (59:12):
Honestly?

Speaker 8 (59:12):
Wow, I'm gonna be contutely. Honestly, I am going through
a lot right now. I lost my job last Mondays
and you know, my older sister for my younger it
will be one next month.

Speaker 25 (59:28):
And I've found out on Thursday that I'm pregnant again
and I don't want.

Speaker 19 (59:32):
To have another child right now.

Speaker 8 (59:35):
He doesn't believe it difficult, but okay, like where we
are and what I'm.

Speaker 3 (59:43):
Dealing with, well, first of all, we want to we
want to send you so much love because you are
not certainly dealing with a lot and right now, just
from from what I've heard from experts and foot from
what I know, you need to take care of you
first and foremost. Okay, if you're encouraging him to do
what he needs to do, and he's not doing it,
you can't force it. I would say, try to do

(01:00:04):
get him to do online. If he's not willing to
do that, you need to do what's best for you
and figure out what that is right. And so that
might mean you getting the counseling that you need to
get and if that means that you have to sacrifice.
And I understand that marriage vows are for better or
for worse, but that means both of you have to
be participating in the for better or for worse. It
can't be just you making sacrifices while the other person

(01:00:28):
is not willing. And it could be his mental health
issues that's preventing him from that, but you cannot sacrifice
yourself and your family.

Speaker 5 (01:00:35):
Especially your children. Your children did not ask to be
in that situation of you know, you two trying to
figure it out. And I think like Angela is saying,
if you do therapy or counseling, they can help you
think about what it looks like if you decide to leave,
and they can help you come up with some kind
of action plan and help you think about the kind
of support you're gonna need if you decide to leave
for the betterment. Of your children.

Speaker 8 (01:00:56):
I mean to be completely honest, it has been just
me serve us and our children. Like for the last
I'm gonna say, well, he hasn't had a job consistently
for the last two years. He's had like audend jobs
for the last like four and a half five years.
I've been the main supporter of the main person taking
care of let's making sure we have to live on
picketle We got a vict it from our last place
in July. He wasn't living in a campground because my

(01:01:20):
last child was born than June and I was on
the turn you leave, I couldn't afford to pay for
a place. He really wasn't motivated to.

Speaker 25 (01:01:26):
Get to stop because he, like I said, the mental thing,
he just he.

Speaker 8 (01:01:30):
Can't work for everybody. He has to work for himself.

Speaker 2 (01:01:33):
Right.

Speaker 8 (01:01:35):
Thing is honestly a block for a lot of his things.
But if he got that situated, a lot of doors
would open up for him.

Speaker 3 (01:01:41):
And it's not anything that he can really probably you know,
obviously he didn't want to be in this position either,
and so it's preventing a lot.

Speaker 2 (01:01:49):
I do feel like as far as your kids, like,
is there anything we can do? Do you need anything
for the children right.

Speaker 8 (01:01:55):
Now, maybe skiers that's about it.

Speaker 25 (01:01:57):
I really, I really don't know. I'm just taking it
in at a time. I have customer service experience. I'm
trying to you know, fuck the job there. Like I said,
we live on a camp from so like at this point,
I'm just like about to pick up and move wherever
because I don't.

Speaker 12 (01:02:11):
I don't.

Speaker 8 (01:02:12):
I don't have a job right now.

Speaker 24 (01:02:13):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (01:02:13):
I don't go So okay, I'm all right, well hold
on the line.

Speaker 3 (01:02:17):
Let's see we can get you some additional help, because
I don't think that even just us being on the
phone like this, yeah, is enough for what it is
that you need. And I do want to say that
if you have to do what you need to do
for you and your family, that also might be a
way for him to realize the severity of what he
needs to do for himself, because if he's not willing
to help himself, there's nothing you can.

Speaker 2 (01:02:38):
Do for somebody that won't do that.

Speaker 8 (01:02:39):
Yeah, yeah, you're right, you're right.

Speaker 3 (01:02:41):
All right, hold onm We're going to get your information. Okay,
it'll be confidential, of course. All right, Well that was
asking and again the number is eight hundred two nine
two fifty one fifty Any questions that you have. If
you can't get through, you can always leave a message
and we can answer that question too when we come back.
