I want to shine a light on my daughter, Anaya Wallace,
who just graduated from law school in CC school over
the weekend and will be obtaining the fastest degreen next here.
I wanted to shine a light on her in a
whole class of twenty three.
Speaker 5 (03:42):
Okay, nice law school. That's a big deal.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
And listening law school is not a game. I kind
of wish I would have went to law school because loveschool.
Even if you're not going to be a lawyer, it's
good to know.
Speaker 4 (03:52):
Yeah, you got a lot. You have a lawyer in
the family.
Speaker 7 (03:54):
I have a lawyer in the family. She is the
first doctor, not medical, but she's a first doctor. So
I'm extremely.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
Tip all right, I cannot wait. We might meet her,
so yeah, we might.
Speaker 10 (04:08):
Sign.
Speaker 7 (04:08):
She's gonna be big and mark what I said.
Speaker 5 (04:11):
Okay, can Naya Wallace? We see you? All right?
Speaker 7 (04:14):
Thank you, thank you?
Speaker 5 (04:17):
Hey, Deshaun, who do you want to shine a light on?
Speaker 9 (04:19):
Heys Angela? How you doing ed? How are you I'm good,
I'm good. I wanted to shine the light on my
wife and Shazad.
Speaker 10 (04:27):
Right.
Speaker 9 (04:28):
She is an amazing mother, an amazing wife, and she's
also a business She's a phiographer. She's been doing it
for the past nine years, a waiting photographer and videographer.
And I'm not saying because she's my wife, but she
does an amazing job.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
And that's one of the most important days of a
person's life. It sure is, so listen as long as
she is reliable and she takes some amazing pictures and
she can record that forever for people. I don't read
some horror stories I know about wedding photographers and videographers.
Speaker 4 (04:57):
Where's she at? Where she located?
Speaker 9 (04:59):
We live in outside of Nashville, but she she does
a lot of her work on Georgia.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Okay, what's what's her website?
Speaker 9 (05:07):
The photography? Okay, frown and you can look up on
Facebook as well. And our name is spelled n E.

As you know.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
That's brought to you by Born in Roma, by Valentino.
Don't forget Mother's Day is this weekend, and that's available
at Macy's. And when we come back, we have yet
we'll be talking about the b e T Awards. BT
wants you to pick between the best hip hop crew ever.
First up, Kanye West versus Eminem we'll discuss its way
up at Angela Yea just like the talk like a
(05:50):
Angela g like a Angela jee.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
Man, She's spilling it all. This is yet, Well, what's up?
Speaker 3 (05:59):
Its way up at Angela ye And I'm Angela Yee.
Jasmin from the jazzminbrand dot Com is here.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
Good morning, Angela. I love this segment.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
I know yet because that's what the Jazzman brand is
all about. Yes, all right, well let's start it up
with the b ET Awards. Apparently this year they're doing
this whole pick between hip hop cruise right, who had
the best hip hop crew? And so some of the
people that you can vote for soul Quarians, which is
Quest Love, Jay Dilla, Erica Baddoin Moore versus Hypnotized Minds.
(06:27):
That's DJ Paul Gangstaboo, Young Buck and Moore, also Queens
versus Yonkers, Rough Riders versus G Unit, and then Good
Music Versus Shady Records. Here is a little premier of
what that's like.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
Good Music boasts an impressive roster of talented artists throughout
its history, including Kanye West, Kid Cutting, Push Your Tea,
Big Sean, and Common. Some of Good Music's greatest hits
include Mercy Click and Otis. Shady, founded by Eminem and
his manager Paul Rosenberg in nineteen ninety nine, is one
of the most successful and influential and hip hop histories.
(07:01):
Members of the collective include Eminem, Yellow Wolf, slaughter House,
D twelve, Obi Trice, fifty Cent, The Game is Sta Quote.
Shady's greatest hits are a testament to the label success
and influence on hip hop.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
All right, so what do you think Good Music Versus
Shady Records. I guess it's like brackets, So then whoever
wins each round goes on to the next. It's like
March Madness before be for Cruise. Yes, I like this idea.
This is going to cause a lot of conversation.
Speaker 5 (07:27):
And yes, a lot of engagement.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
Nobody's gonna agree at all the other people and I
think in certain cruise there's always like the strongest people,
because I mean Eminem and fifty Cent. I think about
how strong that was them alone. But then Kanye West
with good music, even just him alone, What.
Speaker 4 (07:42):
Would you pick between good music and shady records?
Speaker 3 (07:44):
I feel like you know, I'm Eminem, Team Eminem, danggang
forgot my start, got it Radio, So we're gonna rock
with shady good idea all right now, Marvel is reportedly
preparing to recast Jonathan Majors if necessary.
Speaker 5 (07:59):
For Kane.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
He's going to continue to appear in the second season
of Loki. He already shot his scenes for the series,
and he'll be playing several variants of King the Conqueror,
But depending on what happens, they may recast him for
following appearances, so they said. Given the nature of the allegations,
Marvel and Disney are closely monitoring the case before making
(08:21):
any official decision. However, according to sources familiar with the situation,
Marvel has already started preparations to push comes to shove
and the need arises to recast King the Conqueror.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
I can see that happen. I'm sure they already have
some people in mind too.
Speaker 5 (08:35):
As they I mean, they don't have a choice. It's business.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
Yeah, worst case scenario, they have a backup, all right,
got it?
Speaker 10 (08:41):
All right?
Speaker 3 (08:41):
Now, Megan the Stallion, speaking of movies, is reportedly going
to be playing Ben Affleck's girlfriend, and according to What's
on Netflix, he is going to be playing the part
of a washed up major league baseball pitcher that gets
hot and has a big time comeback season. So she
would be playing his girlfriend.
Speaker 5 (08:58):
Now.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
You know what, this reminds me a little bit of
Eastbound and Down. You know, I love that show that
used to come on HBO.
Speaker 4 (09:04):
Never watch you gotta watch it. Kenny Cowers never watched it.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
I used to love that show, but he didn't really
quite make a comeback in that series.
Speaker 5 (09:11):
Okay, kind of a little bit, but not completely.
Speaker 4 (09:13):
I want to see Megan on the big screen, so
I'm cool with this.
Speaker 5 (09:16):
Yeah, she looks good too.
Speaker 4 (09:19):
Pitch we did it makes sense. It's all coming full.
Speaker 5 (09:22):
Circle, all right.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
And in other news, the Last Dance producer is reportedly
filming Lebron for a potential documentary. You know, he did
the Last Dance, Yes about Michael Jordan, so a Lebron
one would be amazing.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
Well, the last dance was really good, so I know
this one.
Speaker 5 (09:37):
Is gonna be I know.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
And then even like I think with Lebron with his
whole team, that's always been interesting. And by the way,
Rich Paul, who is his agent, is going to be
at Earn your Leisure and he doesn't really give talks
that often, so that should be an interesting So shout
out to those guys forgetting that one. That's a good one.
But Rich Paul Alsay has a book he does that
I know that he wants to promote so Cool a
good times though. I think people would definitely want to
see Lebron.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
Another doc documentary that it's going to cause a lot
of conversation.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Yeah, all right, And Nicki min I just saying that
her new album Mentor will be the best thing that
will come out of twenty twenty three. Okay, so she
has promised that this is going to be her best
year yet with this upcoming album and tour. She said
she is going to be raising the bar to new
and unreachable heights. So you know, the barbs was going crazy,
all right, So I cannot wait to see. It's going
(10:23):
to be her first project since Queen which came out
in twenty eighteen.
Speaker 5 (10:26):
That's four years ago.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
Okay, Yeah, I'm ready for a new album and this
will be her first album since having a baby. Yes, indeed,
okay with it. And we still don't know a baby's name. Right,
you were Sea Bear. That's a we just called Papa Bear.
Speaker 10 (10:36):
Ya all right?
Speaker 3 (10:37):
Well that is your yee t. And when we come back,
we have about last night. And when I tell you
we had a time last night, we had a time
last night, We'll tell you what we did. We were
out and about we was outside, Yeah, we were. It's
the way up with Angela yee.
Speaker 10 (10:50):
Yeah last night.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
So about last night last night? Last night, es, I
went down.
Speaker 5 (10:57):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (10:58):
Its way up for Angela yee. I'm Angela ye. And
Jasmine from the Jasmine brand is here.
Speaker 4 (11:02):
It's Friday, Angela, it's.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
Friday, and we was outside last night.
Speaker 5 (11:07):
Baby.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Let me tell you and what we want to talk
about because this is about last night, and we talked
about what we did last night. But in addition to that,
we are going to be basically discussing something that I
think is really important as people are trying to have
their hot girls summer.
Speaker 5 (11:23):
Okay, and things of that nature.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
So to be clear, Jasmine, you are single, I am
single Angela okay, And I'm your friend who is in
a relationship. Angela is in a relationship and I'm outside
with you.
Speaker 5 (11:36):
Yes, this is it.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
Could be a conflict of interest, all right, but let's
talk about what we did last night, because I do
want to shout out to Ebony magazine. Yes, but not
just a magazine. Ebanie also has a podcast network. They
also have a strong digital presence, right and then also
Rum Barbanku, which is a Haitian rum, and.
Speaker 4 (11:57):
So it takes good.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
By the way, the two CEOs of those brands, by
the way, happened to be women of color. Yes, women
of color. So of course that is Eden Bridgeman and
Delphine Gardier. Okay, all right, So we did a panel
discussion with them and they were just talking about legacy
because the Rum has been around for one hundred and
sixty one years. Wow, and it's a family business.
Speaker 5 (12:20):
So she's the CEO as a woman.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
And then for Eden, her family now has they acquired
Ebony during the pandemic, but Ebane is a legacy brand
as well.
Speaker 5 (12:30):
It's been around for seventy five years.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
Legendary brand. Media brand, Right Mac Black Media Company legendary.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
And so to have these two different brands that are
legacy brands that also have women as women of color
as their CEOs. We had a really great conversation just
about what that means and for us to be in
that room and for me to be able to moderate
that conversation, it was definitely an honor, you know, of
course talking about the obstacles for women and for Delphine.
She lives in Haiti and she runs her brand from Haiti.
(12:59):
So we had a chance to talk about politics because
Ed and her family acquired Ebany Magazine during the pandemic.
Speaker 5 (13:06):
Which is a challenging time some Louisville, Kentucky.
Speaker 3 (13:09):
So Brianna Taylor, So all of those conversations happened, and
then we had to go to Daily Paper.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
You did an amazing job moderating. It was a beautiful conversation.
Speaker 10 (13:18):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
And then we went to Daily Paper. And Daily Paper
is a brand that I love. It's a clothing brand
that I love. Right Black owned Last Day, Yes, and
so my coffee is now there, there's a cafe inside
of this store, and so we had a launch for
that coffee uplifts people. So if you ever want to
go buy some daily paper. I wear it all the time.
Speaker 4 (13:38):
Yes, I do too now because I went crazy shop.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
And Jasmine bought a whole bunch of things. But my
point of about last night is that we're back outside.
It's actually it was eighty degrees yesterday and now it's
eighty seven degrees in New York today, and being in
a relationship, I'm running around with my single friend because
I'm not having you outside by yourself.
Speaker 5 (13:56):
Yeah, I can't be outside by myself.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
But some people feel like if you're friend is single,
that you can't be a good wing man. And I
think I'm a great wing man.
Speaker 4 (14:04):
You are a great wingman. And I'd also like to
say I have been your wingman plenty of times.
Speaker 5 (14:08):
Right, well, more like a third will.
Speaker 4 (14:10):
Yeah, oh yeah, I've been your third will for years.
Speaker 5 (14:12):
I mean just you know, and just yeah this whole time.
Speaker 6 (14:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
But yeah, so indeed, And so I think it's important
because to be secure in a relationship like your your
significant other has to feel okay with you being outside
with your hot girl summer friend.
Speaker 5 (14:27):
Yeah, and he's okay with it.
Speaker 4 (14:29):
Yeah, he's okay. I don't know if he has a choice,
but yeah, hot girl, summer friend. It's also with us
sometimes that works.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
Yeah, so we have a good time. But this ought
to say that. Please hit Jasmine up in her DMS.
Well and are you enjoying being single?
Speaker 11 (14:43):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (14:43):
And the thing is, I'm really not doing anything, but yeah,
but everywhere we go, guys are definitely trying to talk
to you.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
I will say that before. I feel like no one
ever really tried to talk to me in a busy time. Now,
all of a sudden, everywhere we go.
Speaker 5 (14:56):
It's every night is something different. Yeah, so I appreciate.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
And sometimes Jasmine gives her a number out because she
feels bad.
Speaker 5 (15:04):
So if you come up to her with a SOB story,
yeah you may have a shot.
Speaker 10 (15:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (15:08):
If you have a SOB story, yeah I'll feel yeah.
Speaker 5 (15:10):
Yeah yeah she's like gay my number I felt bad? Yeah,
just went all right. Well that was about last night.
So you guys just think about that.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
If you have a single friend and relationship, and you're
in a relationship, is it okay to be outside with
them this summer and be their wing man and be
their wing man? I see angela, Yeah, no problem. I
actually enjoy it. I live vicariously through you. All right,
Well that is about last night. And when we come back,
we do have tell us a Secret. That's where you
guys call in and anonymously tell us a secret. Maybe
(15:37):
you met Jasmine, oh gosh, and something happened and you
want to know.
Speaker 5 (15:41):
I'm kidding. Come, fifty is a number. There's no judgment.
You remain anonymous. Tell us a secret. When we come back,
it's way up at Angela yee.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
Yeah, this is a judgment. Freeze on, tell us a secret.
Speaker 10 (15:56):
What's up?
Speaker 5 (15:57):
Its way up at Angela yee.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
I'm Angela Yee and Jasmine from the Asthma brand is
here and it's time for I think this is people's
one of their favorite segments. This is definitely a top choice.
This just tell us a secret. You guys get to
call in and tell on yourselves anonymously.
Speaker 5 (16:11):
I feel like some of y'all be making things up.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
You think so, Auntie, I'm not gonna lie because some
of this is so ridiculous.
Speaker 5 (16:17):
But we don't judge it. No, we don't. We actually
enjoy hearing it.
Speaker 10 (16:20):
We do.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
The more ridiculous the better, But call us up. Eight
hundred two nine two fifty one fifty. You guys get
to remain anonymous again, we don't judge you.
Speaker 5 (16:28):
Hello, anonymous, call it tell us a secret. Hi, good morning,
Good morning.
Speaker 12 (16:33):
So I found out that my mom is cheating on
my stepfathers.
Speaker 5 (16:40):
Ooh, how did you find out?
Speaker 12 (16:41):
How I found this?
Speaker 13 (16:43):
Oh?
Speaker 12 (16:43):
How I found out was so she came into town
for a few days. Me and my mom, or me
and my parents live in two different states that every
time she comes down, she always stays with me. And
this particular time she said no she got her own
place on Airbnb, and I was like, okay, you know,
I thought it was illustrange, but you know, she's grown.
She can do what she wants to do. So the
(17:03):
second night that she would hear, she calls me and
she's like, hey, like, can you come pick me up
right now? So I'm like freaking out, you know, going
to go pick her up. I go pick her up.
She's arguing with a whole other dude about him cheating,
and I'm just baffled and shocked, and I'm just like
sitting there and like a part of me wanted to
(17:24):
like mind my business, but a part of me is
just like, Mom, Like what the heck is going on,
and long story short, the guy ends up leaving and afterwards,
I'm sitting at the Airbnb with her and she's just
feeling I feel like nothing happened. So I call my
sister and I'm like, hey, like, this is what just happened,
and she's like, oh, I know exactly, like what guy
(17:46):
you're talking about. So I ended up looking him up
on Facebook. Come to find out he's under the assumption
that she's pregnant with twinn. My mom has had a
whole hysterect to me, so I know that's not you,
and he's talking about they are in gates, so I'm
assuming and I know for a fact that my stepdad
doesn't know. And I just feel so bad because like
(18:06):
a part of me wants to just be like, oh,
this is what's going on, and then a part of
me is just like, this is not my marriage.
Speaker 5 (18:13):
Busy mom.
Speaker 10 (18:15):
Is living.
Speaker 4 (18:16):
Yeah, she How is your mom? If you don't mind
me asking, how is your mom?
Speaker 12 (18:20):
My mom is forty five.
Speaker 5 (18:23):
Okay, Okay, she's living, Okay, all right, well, good luck, Yeah,
thank you for sharing with us.
Speaker 3 (18:30):
I don't know a conversation with your mom though, and
let her know how you feel your mama, though, but
talk to her.
Speaker 12 (18:37):
I'm not I'm not gonna snitch, but it's just like
it's just one of those really uncomfortable topics, and I
don't want her to think I'm like judging her. But
at the same time, it's like, you bro.
Speaker 3 (18:48):
Okay, all right, you should talk to her though. It's
only gonna eat you up if you don't.
Speaker 9 (18:52):
Okay, thank you, all right?
Speaker 5 (18:54):
Bye? What's anonymous?
Speaker 11 (18:56):
Call it?
Speaker 5 (18:56):
Tell us a secret?
Speaker 13 (18:57):
So my secret is that I've been messing with my
brothers for over five years now.
Speaker 10 (19:01):
He doesn't have a clue.
Speaker 5 (19:03):
Okay, interesting, And I actually hang out with him more,
you said, Actually what I could?
Speaker 13 (19:10):
I actually hang out with him more than my brother does.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
Oh interesting five years? Okay, well why are you hiding it?
Speaker 5 (19:15):
Yeah? What do you think your brother would say?
Speaker 9 (19:18):
You'll probably have a problem with her? Actually, okay?
Speaker 5 (19:21):
Are you just having fun sneaking around?
Speaker 10 (19:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (19:24):
That's something.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
Okay, so that's a lot, that's five years of fun.
Speaker 5 (19:27):
Is Yeah, it's been a long time.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
But sound like your man?
Speaker 5 (19:33):
Your man? Your man? Is that your man?
Speaker 12 (19:36):
I mean no, no, no, not really, But.
Speaker 5 (19:39):
Is that what you want?
Speaker 2 (19:42):
No?
Speaker 5 (19:42):
Okay, all right, well, enjoy yourself.
Speaker 4 (19:48):
Okay, thank you for sharing.
Speaker 5 (19:51):
Thank you all.
Speaker 4 (19:51):
Right, thank you having a good name, A good morning bye?
Speaker 5 (19:55):
What's that? Anonymous color? Tell us a secret?
Speaker 10 (19:58):
Her?
Speaker 11 (19:58):
What was going on?
Speaker 5 (19:59):
What's good? No judgment?
Speaker 11 (20:01):
Like twenty years ago I had a fair with the
older woman? Uh fast for I'm dating her daughter in
the house engaged.
Speaker 5 (20:11):
Wow, so the mom never told her? You never told?
Speaker 11 (20:15):
Man? Her mom like been playing professional the whole time,
like polk her face like it's kind of crazy. So
and the thing in my mind.
Speaker 9 (20:25):
Is like, is her daughter.
Speaker 11 (20:26):
The same way?
Speaker 3 (20:27):
Like even you know, Like I don't know how don
you haven't said anything either?
Speaker 5 (20:32):
Are you the same way as you know what I'm saying?
Speaker 11 (20:35):
I mean, I mean, I'm definitely a dog or I
was a dog at the point, And I don't how
did you even bring that up? Like I don't even know,
you know, honestly, how to you know?
Speaker 3 (20:45):
So you had sex with your fiance but twenty years ago? Yes, yes, yes,
twenty years ago.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
Who's Who's who has better sex? The fiance or the MoMA?
Speaker 5 (20:55):
I feel so bad asking what I would like to know?
Speaker 11 (20:57):
I mean, honestly, uh me me and her mom?
Speaker 10 (21:01):
Was it was? It?
Speaker 9 (21:01):
Was.
Speaker 11 (21:02):
It was a plan.
Speaker 9 (21:03):
It was so it.
Speaker 11 (21:04):
Was maybe like five or six times. It was crazy
because I was I think I was young and the pressional.
He put the moves on me.
Speaker 9 (21:11):
As a as a kid. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (21:13):
It was like Jagger.
Speaker 9 (21:16):
Yeah, it was.
Speaker 11 (21:17):
It was kind of memorable.
Speaker 5 (21:18):
Okay, because he was young, it was probably exciting back then.
She's an older woman. He wasn't so experienced.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
Well, she probably does not want her daughter to know, though.
I'm sure that she was doing.
Speaker 11 (21:28):
That, and honestly, I feel that way, and I feel
like she's totally embarrassed and she's still with she's still
with her husband. I think they were estranged at the time,
but together.
Speaker 5 (21:38):
I think you got it. Just my business on this one,
that's yeah.
Speaker 11 (21:43):
But then if it ever comes to light, then the just.
Speaker 5 (21:47):
Say no, that never happened.
Speaker 10 (21:49):
That wasn't me.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
It was it was a I.
Speaker 5 (21:52):
Its Ai. Yeah, twenty years ago. AI was helped launch it.
Speaker 9 (21:57):
Yeah, total recall. I don't know, we're.
Speaker 5 (22:00):
Here to judge me. Thank you for sharing, good luck.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
I appreciate it at that fine, All right, Well that
was tell us a secret, and you guys can also
call and leave a message. Just in case you couldn't
get through, because I know y'all got some secrets on y'all.
Eight hundred two nine fifty one fifty is the number.
Speaker 5 (22:15):
When we come back.
Speaker 3 (22:15):
We have a yet, and let's talk about the Bratt
and Jessica Judy depart. They adjust the backlash that they
got over these white sperm donor commons. Some people were
very angry about that. When Roland Martin was up here,
he was angry about it. He was it's way up
at Angela.
Speaker 5 (22:30):
Yee.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
Sure she's about to blow the lid ab off this spot.
Let's get it. Oh, Angela's feeling that. Yee. Te come
and get the tea.
Speaker 5 (22:38):
What's up? Its way up at Angela?
Speaker 9 (22:39):
Yee.
Speaker 3 (22:39):
I'm Angela yee. And Jasmine from the Jasmine brand is here.
Good morning, hey Jasmine. Hey, we actually are headed out
to Atlanta today. We're going down south today for a
Strength of a Women festival. We are doing lip service tomorrow,
so make sure y'all come check us out and you
go see Mary J. Blige and concert tonight. Yeah, can't
wait for that. But right now, let's get into some yet.
(23:00):
The Brat and her her wife, Jessica Duty depart were
on the Tamman Hall Show and they were talking about
their pregnancy journey and there were some comments that they
made previously that people were very upset about.
Speaker 5 (23:12):
Here are those original comments.
Speaker 14 (23:14):
When we look into the cryo bang thing from the
ones you gave us, but we don't see no.
Speaker 2 (23:20):
Black people, right, so this is an important issue. Unfortunately,
they're just not enough black donors.
Speaker 14 (23:25):
Black sperm donors, black egg.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
Donors, so unfortunately the pool is limited.
Speaker 9 (23:32):
Her baby day.
Speaker 5 (23:34):
Well, the thing is if it.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
Looks like Jimmy Crickey, all right, Well, yes, the Brad
does joke around all the time. And when asked about
why did they leave those comments in the show, here
is what Jessica and the Brad had to say.
Speaker 14 (23:48):
I didn't think it would be offensive to anybody. I
cracked jokes about almost everybody that I saw. That one
just happened to make it in the show. I wasn't
trying to be mean or like say anything negative about
black people.
Speaker 5 (24:01):
We were looking for a black donor. That we're black.
Speaker 14 (24:04):
We wanted a black donor, so it was just misconstrued
and taken way out of context.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
I mean, that is tough fun because you know what
I realized what you realize. You can't make jokes anymore.
People get very mad if you think something is funny,
If you think it's a joke but it is in
any way potentially offensive, you cannot do it.
Speaker 5 (24:21):
Well, It's like because I get it.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
I feel like the Brad does make jokes all the time, right,
and like we say step to each other that I
would never say on air publicly.
Speaker 5 (24:30):
Yeah, and so do you.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
Yes, especially me when she said that, I had to
go look up Jimmy Cricket because I wasn't really clear
on what Jimmy Crickett looked.
Speaker 5 (24:39):
Like, like a grasshopper.
Speaker 13 (24:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
Yeah, maybe if she was a comedian, maybe people wouldn't
take as much offense to it.
Speaker 5 (24:46):
But she's also a radio personality too.
Speaker 4 (24:48):
Yes, you know, so people thinks.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
It's not a comedian, but it means that you publicly
say things sometimes, like you know, that are a little.
Speaker 5 (24:56):
Off the wall. Yeah, but yes, so that's what happened.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
And imagine wishing somebody has a miscarriage or oh my god, gosh.
Speaker 5 (25:05):
Yeah, so that's ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (25:06):
I'm glad they cleared it up, but I guess no
more jokes like that, Yeah.
Speaker 5 (25:11):
No, one don't even know what to say. No more sperm,
no more sperm jokes.
Speaker 3 (25:14):
All right, And now let's talk about miss Anita Baker
because she was trending and people were very upset about
some things that she said.
Speaker 5 (25:22):
Oh well, not that she said, but what she did.
All right.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
So she was performing at the Potential Center that's in Newark,
New Jersey, and Babyface was also supposed to be opening up,
and he didn't get a chance to perform at all.
And it was also like two hours late that the
show started. And now Babyface originally had posted I'm truly
sorry to my fans who have been waiting for us
to hit the stage this evening at the Potential Center.
I was asked not to perform in order to give
(25:45):
miss Baker her space and time to perform her show.
In its entirety, my band and I are extremely sad
and we didn't get to perform for y'all tonight. He
was not dragging Anita Baker. He was just apologizing to
the fans, yes, which is you also want people to
know that you just didn't decide I don't feel like
doing it.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
It is not my fault, basis, it's what Babyface is.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
Saying, but a lot of people waited in, you know.
Jackie Harry said, you deserve better. Tony Baxon just put
a heart, Tamar put the straight face. Stephanie Mill said,
I hate when this happens amongst our people. We should
be thankful that people are still paying money to come
to our shows. We're not kids anymore. This makes me
really sad to see and read this. And miss Anita
Baker has responded.
Speaker 4 (26:23):
Okay, what is miss Anita Bakers?
Speaker 5 (26:24):
And we told you.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
Guys this yesterday from our own first hand information. There
were some tech issues with the television and that's what
really prevented them from performing on time. And so when asked, hey,
would you mind if baby Face took some of your time,
Anita Baker said, no, I want to do my whole set. Yes,
So that's a tough one because I'm sure she did
want to do her whole set. Yeah, that's what she did,
(26:45):
all right. So she posted sixty five years old happy
trending played our one hundred and twentieth sold out content
through tech issues to our amazing fans. God is good,
hasstech Anita Baker? Okay, so that's all. She responded, I'm
trend and these shows I was holding out.
Speaker 5 (27:02):
Baby.
Speaker 4 (27:03):
That was a little spicy response.
Speaker 3 (27:05):
She gets a little spicy on social media, gives a
lot of spicy on social media. All right, well that
is your yet and when we come back, we have
under the radar. These are stories that are not necessarily
front page news stories. These are stories that are under
the radar, but we feel like you need to know
them anyway.
Speaker 5 (27:20):
It's way up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 2 (27:21):
The news news.
Speaker 6 (27:23):
This in the news that relates to you. These stories
are flying under the radar.
Speaker 5 (27:28):
What's up.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
It's way up at Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee and
it's Friday.
Speaker 4 (27:31):
Happy Friday.
Speaker 5 (27:32):
Angela Jasmine from the Jasmine brand is here. She hates Fridays.
She only likes Thursdays. I don't hate it.
Speaker 4 (27:37):
I just like Thursdays.
Speaker 5 (27:39):
But it's time for your under the radar stories.
Speaker 3 (27:41):
Now, we've been talking a lot about artificial intelligence and
chat GPT has come up a lot.
Speaker 5 (27:47):
But I'm gonna tell you something that seems like it
could make it very helpful.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
I mean, there's a lot of things, but this guy
is a person who was trying to write a workout
plan and he hated running, so he asked chat gpt
to help out, and since then, he now runs six
days a week and he loves it. He's also lost weight.
He lost twenty six pounds and improved his health. So
chat gpt has the power to provide coaching. Okay, I
(28:12):
think that's a big deal. Listen, I don't like running,
so maybe I should do this.
Speaker 5 (28:16):
You know, he has a six year old daughter.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
He said he wanted to keep up with her, and
he's seen major improvements to his energy, also his heart health,
his resting heart rate, all of those things. So he
said using that as a coach really helped him a lotti.
He said it made running fun by breaking it down
into really easy wins.
Speaker 5 (28:34):
Okay, I'm a fan of this. Yeah. Yeah, that's dope.
And you're a runner, so I do enjoy running.
Speaker 3 (28:40):
I haven't been doing it as much as I want
to lately, but now, he said it's something that he
really looks forward to. So anything that can help you
and it'll help you also help you save time and
money on workouts.
Speaker 4 (28:49):
Okay, maybe I should consider this because I despise running.
Speaker 5 (28:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
So he said he could have got these things from
a coach or some online research, but it was accessible
and it was also free. I like, so some people
to don't like to work out or get a coach
because it is expensive, but this is free, okay, all right?
Now speaking to people saving money, this one woman did
a TikTok. Her name is Meerica at simply America. She
works at Walmart, and she was talking about people stealing
(29:14):
from self checkout. They said, that is a way more
common problem than you may have any idea that it is.
Right now, at the top of the footage that she
posted on TikTok, she wrote, can y'all please start coming
to self check out trying to steal?
Speaker 5 (29:29):
You know how she can tell people are trying to steal?
Speaker 10 (29:30):
How?
Speaker 3 (29:31):
She said, the one thing that makes it really obvious,
okay is people constantly looking back at her.
Speaker 5 (29:37):
So I guess these things are a little nervous. Yeah, yeah,
And so she said.
Speaker 3 (29:43):
That's what really tips people off. So somebody wrote, so
I need to steal with confidence. Yeah, absolutely, just go there,
act like it is something and you cannot pay for anything, right,
You gotta at least pay to pay for a few things.
Speaker 5 (29:55):
Now, Jasmine, you said you've stolen bags.
Speaker 4 (29:58):
Yeah, I don't think I've ever stole from self checkout
like an item, but I think I have no. I
know for sure. They've asked me how many bags and
I've said one when it was actually like ten.
Speaker 5 (30:07):
So you say five ten cents?
Speaker 4 (30:09):
Yeah, yeah, no, yes, So that's that's stilling, Angela.
Speaker 5 (30:11):
It's crazy.
Speaker 3 (30:12):
Just just think about how we didn't used to have
to pay for bags. Yeah, and now we pay for bags.
That's my way of rebelling is stealing some bags, Angela.
Have you ever stole at self check out? No, I haven't,
not even I will tell you though. One time, no,
not even bags. I accidentally stole bottled water from the supermarket.
Speaker 5 (30:30):
I felt bad about it.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
It was you know how I had a lot of
stuff in my car and it was under the cart,
you know, the little part under the car. Oh yeah, yes,
I didn't realize. I didn't take it out and pay
for it, and I didn't go back in and play.
But you've never stole it, like in general, I mean, okay,
in life, yes, okay, but that is I haven't still
it as a supermarket, not as a supermarket. Okay, all right,
Now there's a skin patch that is showing promise and
toddlers who have peanut allergies. By the way, peanut allergies
(30:54):
and nut allergies in general are one of the most
scariest things.
Speaker 5 (30:58):
I actually know people who have died.
Speaker 3 (31:00):
And you have to have like the EpiPen with you
just in case you accidentally and sometimes you don't know
that there's nuts and things, and so if you have
an allergy, it can be really dangerous. So researchers have
a conducted random, double blind trial of this peanut patch
in children age one, two three who have been diagnosed
with the peanut allergy, and the trial involved three hundred
and sixty two toddlers. After twelve months, two thirds of
(31:23):
the children who use the patch and one third of
the placebo group have met the child's primary endpoint, and
children with a less sensitive allergy could safely tolerate peanut
protein equivalent to consuming three or four peanuts. Children who
are more sensitive could tolerate the equivalent of consuming one peanut.
And that's a big deal because sometimes it's a really
small amount, or your kids they could go to a
(31:43):
school or go somewhere else, or be watched by somebody
who doesn't know about the allergy and that's really dangerous.
Speaker 5 (31:49):
So that's a big deal that could potentially save lives.
Speaker 3 (31:52):
Okay, I've been on flights before where they say someone
on here has a peanut autree, please be careful.
Speaker 4 (31:56):
Yeah, yeah, you know, so it's very.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
Dangerous even if it's in products like yes, all right,
well that is you're under the radar. And when we
do come back, we have the mix at the top
of the hour Friday. Those are always fun and plus
we are going to have an amazing interview today. Scarlet
is going to be joining us. Okay, you know her
for Glezzy Gobless. She's not a gleasy goblins you might be.
It's way up with Angela Yee, the rooms.
Speaker 6 (32:20):
From industry Shade to all the gossip out Angela's speeling that.
Speaker 5 (32:26):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (32:26):
It's way up at Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee. And
Jasmine from the Jasmine brand is here. What's up, Jasmine?
Speaker 4 (32:31):
Happy Friday.
Speaker 5 (32:32):
It's Friday, and oh my gosh.
Speaker 3 (32:33):
It's Friday, but the work doesn't stop. We're headed to
Atlanta to Strength of a Woman today. Yes, all right,
excited to see that. You know, I love some Marry
J Blige, you do.
Speaker 4 (32:40):
I do too.
Speaker 5 (32:41):
All right, well, let's get into this yet.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
Brian McKnight has had to do some damage control now
they were dragging him on social media. He posted a
picture with his family and it's his blended family. He says,
spending my birthday with the five people I love the
most in the world, my family. Thank you, baby for
making this day the best that it can. Now, I
(33:05):
guess you know. He posted a video also earlier, of
his stepdaughter where it seemed like his real daughter, not
biological biological. Yeah, I'm gonna say it like that a
daughter didn't exist. So he's had some issues with his
biological daughter. She actually had to disclose her entire sexual
(33:27):
history in court because he had posted she had some
years earlier and while a minor engaged in sexual relations
with an older cousin.
Speaker 5 (33:36):
Oh gosh, yes, why would he post that.
Speaker 3 (33:38):
He posted it and deleted it, and then she had
to do that in court, and then she sued him
for defamation. They actually had a private settlement that they
reached after that. But here is Brian McKnight now addressing
these allegations of abandonment. He said, not sure how these
posts that had been sitting here this whole time were
left out of the false narrative that is trending abandonment.
(33:59):
There's always more to every story. Stay tuned, and here's
what he said.
Speaker 15 (34:02):
There is a very simple reason why I post about
some of my children on social media and not others.
The children that I do not currently have relationships with,
I don't post about them. Instead, I post about the
children with whom I do have relationships, with whom I
am proud of, and about whom I want to share
my pride in their accomplishments.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
I don't live in the past.
Speaker 15 (34:25):
I live in the present and.
Speaker 5 (34:27):
The future now.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
People also didn't like the fact that earlier he had
also posted his stepdaughter and said, Jules, I became a
girl dad because of you, and I couldn't have asked
for a better daughter. Here's to you, Jules, the perfect
daughter I always wanted. Oh mak, that's so many digs
and so many jazz. Do you think that video that
he posted helped the situation? No, I don't, okay me neither, right, Well,
(34:51):
that is your Brian mcnight's story. He's very angry at
all trying to make this narrative about him.
Speaker 5 (34:56):
I don't know if we're making a narrative where he's
helping the.
Speaker 3 (34:59):
Narrative thinking of relationships between parents. Right, Black China is
celebrating her thirty fifth birthday and she's where her mom
toky A Tony.
Speaker 5 (35:07):
Here's the video that she posted.
Speaker 10 (35:09):
Oh look at that doing her bah blah blah blah.
They be putting on a frank for the ground.
Speaker 3 (35:17):
Those two have been through a lot, they have, but
the good thing is that they still manage to come
back together and love each other. And you know what,
I think part of it is, I think Black China
kind of accepts her mom for who she is and
kind of knows, you know, my mom really loves me,
but you know, we have these issues, and I think
she just wants to kind of continue to move forward
and not kind of dwell on some of the crazy
stuff her mama said. And we also don't know what
(35:39):
goes on behind the scenes with people's families either, we don't.
And then you see that she got a new Tokyo
Tony got a new tattoo of Black China's name. So
Angela what she has? No, I'm saying she got she
got that.
Speaker 5 (35:51):
Saying hey Angela, No, I'm not Yeah, I hear you,
all right.
Speaker 3 (35:55):
That is here yet, and when we come back, we
have Newmans Friday. It is a Friday, and there's a
lot going on today and a lot of it has
to do with and.
Speaker 5 (36:04):
Be a young boy.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
Okay, all right, it's way up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
You ride a way up with Angela Yee. What's up?
Speaker 3 (36:14):
It's way up with Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee. And
Jasmine from the Jasmine Brand is here. Yes, we love
a Friday and we're headed out to Atlanta.
Speaker 4 (36:20):
We are right, We're gonna have a time.
Speaker 3 (36:23):
Yes, it's Strength of a Woman. This is a second
year that Mary J. Blige is doing the Strength of
a Woman Festival.
Speaker 4 (36:28):
How was last year?
Speaker 3 (36:29):
It was so much funny, was at the Gathering Spot,
and I feel like it's bigger than that this year
because while the Gathering Spot and I love that and
we should go there, by the way, while we're in Atlanta, this,
I guess has gotten even bigger. So that's what you
always want, right, Yeah, And so lip Service is going
to be doing a panel tomorrow, so I'm happy for
that and it's going to be a spicy conversation with
people who you would never expect to be having these
(36:52):
types of discussions. Some people shy away from it, but
these are important conversations to have.
Speaker 5 (36:57):
And Mary J.
Speaker 3 (36:58):
Blige is performing tonight, Lauren Hills performing tomorrow nights, so
I know people are gonna want to come out and
see that. So shout out to everybody who's been working
with us on making sure we get booked for a
strength of a woman.
Speaker 5 (37:10):
We also today have a really fun interview.
Speaker 3 (37:12):
You know, I'm from New York, so I love when
we get to also support New York artists too and women. Yes,
and Scarlet is going to be joining us. You guys
are gonna love her. She's very New York too, by
the way.
Speaker 5 (37:23):
I like her.
Speaker 3 (37:24):
Yeah, And so you're gonna get to hear her story
if you I know, there's a lot of things that
you've seen her post.
Speaker 5 (37:29):
She does poetry.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
But I feel like we're gonna discover some new things
today and she's at a great point in her life
with a new deal on the way and all of that.
So we're gonna get into it. It's way up with Angela. Ye,
Scarlet is going to be joining us shortly. Let's go
back Yeah, she back at it.
Speaker 2 (37:48):
Up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 5 (37:49):
Is on What's Up? It's way up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 3 (37:52):
I'm here in Jasmine from the Jasmine brand dot Com
is here and we have somebody who is for real
way up, and that is Scarlet Welcome.
Speaker 5 (37:58):
To the show. Hey, you look so pretty. Thank you girl. Yeah,
I feel like I mean, no more do.
Speaker 10 (38:05):
Rags, no more that ghetto stuff. Man, we live.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
But I think that's part of what people love about you,
you know, as they followed you, like on your come
up to see where you are, then me see you
going like met gala parties and doing all of that.
So congratulations, and I think the realness of like how
excited you are when Carti b gave you that code
sign Cardi.
Speaker 10 (38:35):
She show us young girls, we can make it and
we can beat something.
Speaker 5 (38:39):
Bro, has it been follow up?
Speaker 10 (38:41):
Listen? Were we on Bernie Cardi? Please please? But like
that was enough that that would have repost she did
was like enough, right if Cardie don't have to do
a song with me, that was enough.
Speaker 5 (38:56):
That's dope.
Speaker 10 (38:57):
You don't know what that does. Like me as a
young girl, like grinding every day, grinding and finally getting
that little that colson a Big Colson. That changed my life,
my career.
Speaker 3 (39:08):
And I think people also see you have you know,
some viral moments recently, but they don't know that you've
been at this for years. And so when would you
say everything first started for you?
Speaker 10 (39:19):
Around twenty eighteen? It first started when I came out
of it. I shared my life story and it got
the attention of Gilly the Kid wallowing them and they
like helped push it. A lot of members on Love
and Hip Hop Black and Crew was supporting my movement
and that's where like I first started. Ever, Like wait, viral, right,
so I've been going viral since twenty eighteen. Then Glitzy
(39:42):
Gobbler you know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (39:44):
Like fun glazy Goblin is hilarious by the way, and
also like the video was cute, So where did the
budget come for that?
Speaker 5 (39:52):
Because it looked good. It looked like y'all spent some
money on.
Speaker 10 (39:54):
We spent some money. Man, Like as an artist, you
know what I'm saying, It's gonna be tricks, you know, Okay,
tricks don't want to just do this, do that, to
just do.
Speaker 5 (40:04):
That, like hilarious, huh break this down for me.
Speaker 10 (40:09):
It's like what, like I got a team now solid
I see.
Speaker 5 (40:14):
I see that.
Speaker 10 (40:14):
Back then, I was just free. I was doing what
I have to do, Like I just want to do
stuff for you. I'll be like, yo, listen, I gotta
do what I gotta do.
Speaker 5 (40:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (40:21):
But they also it's also a benefit, right because they
see they believe in you, because nobody's gonna do that
if they don't think it's gonna go nowhere. Because, like
you said, you've been really honest about your story, and
we've seen a lot of things and interviews that you've done,
and also you just talking about it, you know, growing
up and going to foster care. What's the foster care
system experience like for you? Because I've heard some positive
(40:43):
things and I've heard some negative things. What was your
experience my foster care experience, it was like some good,
some bad.
Speaker 10 (40:50):
I went to eight different foster homes. I was hopping
from foster home to foster home because at the time,
I was like, I wasn't a good I wouldn't say
I was a good care I was a hard headed
and I felt like these people ain't my family. And
I got to live with these people and call them mom,
call them died like I was in and out of
detention centeris I was fighting a lot. I was an
angry child. Like, to be honest, the falter Case system
(41:12):
was horrible. It was horrible. You meet good people there,
like my therapist was like nice to me, a couple
of my caseworkers, but it was really like dark when.
Speaker 4 (41:22):
You were going through that. You know, growing up, did
you always want to be an artist?
Speaker 5 (41:26):
Did you?
Speaker 4 (41:26):
Was that a dream when you were going through things
as a child.
Speaker 10 (41:29):
Yeah, growing up, Like I wanted to be an actor.
You know what I'm saying. I was good at writing.
I was always good at writing and poetry and poetry
formed into music.
Speaker 3 (41:39):
All right, we are talking to the Bronxes oun Skylet.
What exactly is it? Glizzy Gobbler?
Speaker 10 (41:44):
Yo, So everybody think Guzzy Goblin is some sexual It
has nothing to do with sexual at all, gy Godblac
of course, yeah, Gusy Goblin, don't ever do it.
Speaker 5 (41:54):
We don't want to have to bleep you too much.
Speaker 10 (41:56):
But yeah, yeah, Gusey Gobbler, Like it's somebody just meet munching, okay,
like you just doing too much?
Speaker 4 (42:02):
Like you just playing in a sentence.
Speaker 10 (42:05):
Oh she's a Glusy Goblin man, she's she over there,
glusy goblin. She's a munch like she's just chewing like
she's like, that's what it means.
Speaker 5 (42:14):
Got it, That's what I was talking about.
Speaker 3 (42:17):
And guys could be a gleasy goblins too, exactly right.
They're the worst ones, yeah, truthfully, because I can imagine
what your life is like now. All the guys that
you knew before this.
Speaker 10 (42:27):
And there's some suckers, man, these dudes, they some lover boys, man,
all of today's feet all this I see. I was
walking out, I was driving out of one of my
shows and there's some guy was just like, I was.
Speaker 5 (42:41):
Like, so that's not nobody you would ever go on
a date with?
Speaker 10 (42:44):
Hed On.
Speaker 4 (42:45):
What kind of guys do you like?
Speaker 13 (42:47):
Now?
Speaker 11 (42:48):
Oh?
Speaker 10 (42:48):
I like little man?
Speaker 5 (42:49):
Okay, what do you mean?
Speaker 10 (42:50):
I always say? And I'm serious tiny men like I
want to be the big woman, dominant woman, lift up,
and I want him to be the little man.
Speaker 5 (42:59):
And how are your I's looking now?
Speaker 10 (43:01):
Crazy lit so gray? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (43:05):
So anything good? Like did you get some work out
of there already? Like some works and collaborations. Are the
people that you're like, okay, this is about to happen.
Speaker 10 (43:13):
Yeah, yeah, can I spill a tea.
Speaker 5 (43:16):
Please, you did your deal, You signed your deal.
Speaker 10 (43:19):
I'm about to sign it like next week. I got
some songs for people. Now I'm trying to get a recording.
But I got some features in the tuck.
Speaker 5 (43:27):
Okay are they from New York?
Speaker 10 (43:28):
They from New York? It is from Memphis?
Speaker 5 (43:31):
Okay, Okay, Glorilla? Oh man, I wish no, Okay, let's
see who could it be? Finesse? Okay, we like that.
Speaker 10 (43:40):
We got Snoop Dogg.
Speaker 5 (43:43):
Oh wow, that's a major. Yes, that's dope.
Speaker 10 (43:47):
I know I can't tell you.
Speaker 5 (43:50):
We got some little spoilers.
Speaker 3 (43:53):
Congratulations an you want Swizzes album?
Speaker 10 (43:56):
Oh yes, I love Swiss? How did that?
Speaker 4 (43:58):
So?
Speaker 5 (43:59):
How did that happen?
Speaker 10 (44:00):
So Swiss? As you can see on my page, I
got three pin videos, you know, me sharing my story
about being a black girl. Swiss shared one of my stories,
and I'm like, you know, I'm an upcoming artist. I'm hungry.
I see your legendary producer share my stuff. I'm gonna
slaughter his dms. You feel me, so I slid his DMS.
I'm like, yo, Swiss, thank you for sharing my stuff.
I know you used to produce for DMX, he's my
(44:21):
big inspiration. Do you think we could work? Swiss text
me back like, keep up the good work. I'm like,
all right, whatever, I'm gonna keep up the good work.
Not even four days later, he texted me we need
to work nice.
Speaker 5 (44:36):
He popped up like, okay, where when here?
Speaker 10 (44:38):
When let's do it. I'm flying on my flight. I'm
going like, let's go. Oh my gosh, let's go. Well
he's just been like he been supporting me, helping my
music career.
Speaker 3 (44:49):
All right, we are talking to the Bronxes own Skylet.
So he's the one that kind of helped you with
the deal too. I was seeing that you were saying
that he's linking you.
Speaker 10 (44:57):
Yeah, he's linking me with the people he's getting.
Speaker 5 (44:59):
Me to deal to make that happen.
Speaker 3 (45:01):
Yeah, okay, it feels like a lot of people have
embraced you so far.
Speaker 10 (45:04):
Yeah. Man, Like.
Speaker 3 (45:07):
And that's when you had to do Ragon to dinner, right, Yeah?
Speaker 10 (45:10):
Yo, man, I had that do rag On to dinner.
Speaker 4 (45:12):
But it was like it's a good look.
Speaker 3 (45:14):
But that's a legendary also because that's also like who
else did that? I mean, it's a it's a good
story to come back to like ten years and maybe.
I remember when I was at dinner with fifty with
a dude, what Fifty?
Speaker 5 (45:25):
Did he say anything about it?
Speaker 10 (45:26):
Yo? He said, you have to take you.
Speaker 5 (45:29):
Yeah, he don't care. He didn't didn't care. I can
see him. He wasn't thinking that's dope.
Speaker 10 (45:34):
Yeah, he was like really like giving me advice. Right
the day when we had to meet to sit down
with Fifty, I wasn't even prepared for it. It just
came to me and I was like, damn, it's either
I'm gonna not go because my hair and I did,
or am I gonna be like I win? I don't care.
Speaker 5 (45:48):
Did he ask you to be on any of the
shows yet?
Speaker 10 (45:50):
Or I asked? I was like this because he kept
saying like he liked my music, because I was like, so,
let's do a refix now.
Speaker 5 (45:59):
But for that's how you get it.
Speaker 3 (46:01):
I think sometimes too, And tell me if this has
ever been too for you, But for women artists sometimes
it's harder for us to put ourselves out there and
ask for things.
Speaker 5 (46:09):
I feel like guys ask for whatever.
Speaker 10 (46:11):
Listen, let me tell you something. I asked everything. I
wasn't invited to the Barcolay Center you're not performed there.
I slid in Fringe Montana's DMS and I was like.
Speaker 3 (46:20):
Hey, France used to do all that stuff too though,
back in the day when he was for Yes.
Speaker 5 (46:23):
So you got in his DMS and what happened?
Speaker 10 (46:25):
I slid the dems. I said, hey, Franchi, so what's
up scar And I was like, you're performing here? And
I sent him a fly.
Speaker 5 (46:30):
I knew he was performing and he was flying.
Speaker 10 (46:33):
He was like yeah. I was like, can you bring
me out? He was like, hell, yeah, it's really nice. Yo.
Speaker 5 (46:37):
God loves you yo.
Speaker 3 (46:39):
Scarlet is here and this might be one of my
top favorite interviews that we've done early on in her career.
I know we're gonna hear a lot more from her,
but in the meantime, let's hear a lot more from
her when we come back. It's way up with Angela.
Speaker 2 (46:50):
Yee bring bring in the way up with Angela Yee
is on.
Speaker 5 (46:54):
It's way up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 3 (46:55):
It's a Friday and we are celebrating and guess who
we're celebrating today. We have Scarlet up here with us.
Did you make friends while you were in Farster Care?
Speaker 10 (47:03):
Like I was beating them. I was beating them.
Speaker 4 (47:11):
You making friends?
Speaker 5 (47:13):
Got it?
Speaker 10 (47:15):
Me and I we was going y'all, the whole camp
was against. Like I had probably one girl on my side.
Speaker 5 (47:20):
What do you be beeping over?
Speaker 10 (47:21):
They just be hating. I feel like they be hating.
Speaker 5 (47:24):
What are your therapists tell you about that?
Speaker 10 (47:26):
She tells me, I need to calm down, control my anger.
No not. Everybody's out to get you to give me
and I'm gonna get them first.
Speaker 3 (47:34):
But you know what, now you're you're famous, so you
have a lot to lose.
Speaker 5 (47:39):
I think when you have nothing to lose.
Speaker 10 (47:40):
It was easier.
Speaker 5 (47:41):
It's easier.
Speaker 10 (47:42):
But y oh you now that I'm like, I guess
I'm females, But like, I see what they say. I
know some of these people talking to they know me,
and they know they not like that, and they know
if they saw me, I was running their mouth for real.
But I see them I'm talking and talking and I'm
just sitting back, Like, why can't I say something? I
(48:04):
want to say something because.
Speaker 5 (48:05):
That makes too much attention to people that don't deserve it.
Speaker 10 (48:07):
Yeah, and I can't say something because at the end
of the day, people is representing me.
Speaker 5 (48:11):
Yeah, don't he anything. Don't feed the glizzy gobblers. You
gotta let them start.
Speaker 10 (48:15):
Yeah, I like that.
Speaker 4 (48:19):
Oh my gosh, Angela.
Speaker 5 (48:28):
But what about now?
Speaker 3 (48:29):
And I see that you've told Yester I have what
about family members? Because you've been really open and honest
about that. I heard about your aunt right and you
know what happened when you were living with her. Have
they tried to like say anything or come out or
even reached out to you to say.
Speaker 10 (48:41):
So my aunt, she hasn't reached out to me, but
I feel like she will send people to reach out
to me in the family. Like my uncle called me.
He's one of my uncles. They used to ride back
in the day, and was like, oh, did they really
abuse you? Did they really do that to you? Did
they really hurt you? And I'm like, why you calling
me asking me now? And then he was just like, oh,
(49:02):
because your music is blowing up now and I want
to make sure we're good. And I was like, why
are you calling me now? You wasn't there for me
when I was a little girl. You wasn't there for
me when I was going through all of this, but
now you want to call me, And he was like, Oh,
don't forget I'm the one that taught you how to rap,
like just trying to be like take credit for my
for what I'm doing. And I'm just like, you had
(49:23):
that chance in my life to protect me, and you
decided to stand.
Speaker 3 (49:27):
Back, right because the biggest story isn't Okay, well you're
blowing up now. The biggest story should have been, you know,
your aunt's whatever boyfriend, husband whoever he was, he was
molesting you.
Speaker 5 (49:38):
Where were you when that happened?
Speaker 3 (49:39):
And it should be more like, what can we do,
like to help even try to help you as far
as moving past that.
Speaker 10 (49:45):
And then it's like my cousins is reaching my cousin
reaching out like, oh, that wasn't us. We didn't have
nothing to do with it. This was like a three
four days ago. Everybody, everybody, I'm sorry. I wish we
could have been there for you. I wish we could
have been We would have took you in. You knew
you saw the videos and y'all said she lying. Then
my uncle was like, you need to keep this in
(50:06):
the family. You shouldn't be supposting this. And it's like
nobody helped me when I needed their help, and now
that I'm being somebody you don't think I sit back
and be like, damn, I wish my family could have
been with me. I still have little thoughts to this day.
My baby brother, he's all I have and I'm all
he has. And we gotta go to the success, but
just us, because we the only one that was there
(50:28):
for each other.
Speaker 4 (50:29):
What kind of advice do you do you have for
kids and girls that went through what they're going through
right now, what you went through?
Speaker 10 (50:36):
I say, speak up. I say, don't be afraid to
speak up. See the thing is, when I was going
through it, I was afraid to speak up. And the
reason why I was afraid to speak up is because
the person I could go to to tell what was
happening was the reason it was happening. Okay, my aunt,
she was supposed to be my protector when my mom died.
She didn't protect me. Who could I go to? But
I say, now, for everybody just went through what I
(50:59):
went through, to just speak up and don't be afraid
to tell somebody.
Speaker 5 (51:03):
All right, we are talking to the Bronxes.
Speaker 3 (51:05):
Oh, Scarlet, and your mom died when you were twelve, right,
so how was your relationship with your mom before?
Speaker 10 (51:12):
It was a good relationship. My mom was mom protected.
She we didn't even have a father, Like she was
just the only person that she took care of me. Bro,
she was like a superhero to me. That's why I
want my mom. When I lost my mom, it's like
really was a toll on me. It's like I lost everything.
Speaker 12 (51:26):
Bro.
Speaker 10 (51:27):
Yeah, like we didn't have nobody. My mom was all
I ever had in my life.
Speaker 3 (51:33):
How do you think she would feel now being able
to see the success that you've been having, because I'm
sure a part of that is, like do you ever
feel like she speaks to you in any way? Sometimes
people feel that like they're like.
Speaker 10 (51:44):
She protected me. I always say, like I wish my
mom was here, like to see this. We struggle growing up,
like we was in the projects. But I used to
always wonder. I remember I promised my mom, Like we
was looking at a magazine, right, and I said, mom
my mo, Mom liked the specific house, and I said,
I'm gonna get you to help. I know I'm able
to get her that house. Like now i'ma still get
the house. It was a glasshouse. Yeah, I said, I'm
(52:05):
gonna get this house for you. I'm gonna still get
the house but it's like I know in my life,
I can't believe it. I was only a little girl
when I tow her then. Yeah, and I'm about to
be able to get houses. I'm about to be out
of property. Here you go, girl.
Speaker 5 (52:21):
Congratulations. That's so dope. That is that's amazing and talented.
Speaker 3 (52:28):
That's why, like I said, you gotta make sure all
these people that's hateful, you gotta make sure you keep
forward and don't let get thrown off track either. All right,
Scarlet is here and usually we do ask ye next,
but we got into so many different things that we're
gonna keep this going. So we got more Scarlet for
you when we come back. It's way up at Angela yee.
Speaker 2 (52:51):
Yeah, she back at it with Angela is on what's up?
Speaker 3 (52:57):
Its way up with Angela ye. And we are having
such a great time. We're talking the Skylet from the Bronx.
When's the last time you've been on a date?
Speaker 10 (53:04):
I've never been on a date? What in my life?
Speaker 3 (53:07):
Hell, then let me make an I've never been on
a date. Yeah, it's about to go crazy.
Speaker 4 (53:12):
Where do you okay, where do you want your first
date to be?
Speaker 5 (53:14):
Where would you like to We're gonna find you a
nice little man.
Speaker 10 (53:16):
It's like I want a tiny man to hold pineapples
and feed me with his tiny arms.
Speaker 4 (53:24):
Why are you so funny? It's so weird though, weird though.
Speaker 10 (53:30):
I'd be weird, bro like, I don't know why she
really want that.
Speaker 4 (53:34):
I think she does too.
Speaker 10 (53:35):
I like tiny man because they can't overwhoom me.
Speaker 5 (53:37):
See that's what I told you. It's a power.
Speaker 4 (53:39):
That's my trauma. That's like from trauma.
Speaker 10 (53:41):
No, I want to overpower the man. I'm a big woman,
and he needs to know. I'm gonna be making the money.
It's not like his tiny solf will make the money.
Oh my god, reach up, jump up to me.
Speaker 4 (53:53):
Oh my gosh, you can't defeat me.
Speaker 5 (53:56):
I'm gonna defeat him.
Speaker 4 (53:57):
He can't defeat me.
Speaker 5 (53:58):
I don't know if you could be in love with him.
Speaker 10 (54:00):
I did.
Speaker 4 (54:01):
You can punking him like that?
Speaker 10 (54:02):
If I did a tall man, it's gonna be my
ex from Jersey, Okay, who is I'm in love with him.
I'm gonna always be in love with my ex.
Speaker 4 (54:09):
He never took you to on a day though, now
he took me to.
Speaker 5 (54:13):
Oh my god.
Speaker 4 (54:15):
All right, so we need we need a new man.
Speaker 5 (54:18):
Now, I said, why are you in love with him?
Speaker 10 (54:21):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (54:22):
He's go ahead, you can. You might as well say it.
Speaker 10 (54:27):
I'm a virgin, okay, but we did other things, okay,
the first boy after just something with okay.
Speaker 5 (54:34):
And that's why you think you're in love with him,
just because of that, no other reason. What happened ended
up happening.
Speaker 10 (54:39):
I texted. We was talking the other day. What happened
another day? He said, him too crazy? We always argue
and stuff. Man, he tried to take my virginity in
a tiny hotel room, like you want to take my
virginity or a tiny room?
Speaker 2 (54:50):
He mad.
Speaker 10 (54:51):
Because I come at him like that, say you can't
be doing nothing in this tiny room, and he just
get his feelings.
Speaker 5 (54:57):
Do you have more money than him?
Speaker 10 (54:58):
Now? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (55:00):

Speaker 10 (55:00):

today's interview with Scarlet. Also, new music is out today
and just anything you want to talk about if you
want to shine a light. If you have to ask
ye question, whatever it is, you can use this number
eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty.

Speaker 5 (57:40):
Ye, what's up?
Speaker 3 (57:41):
It's way up with Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee. And
Jasmine from the Jasmine Brand is here. And it's Mother's
Day this weekend.
Speaker 4 (57:47):
It is mother Happy Mother's Day, Jasmine, Happy Mother's Day, Angela.
Speaker 5 (57:51):
I'm your daughter. Sometimes yeah, you are people. I believe that.
Speaker 3 (57:54):
I used to say that and people were like Angela's daughter,
her Jasmine brand. I feel like if I google it
it still says that, which is very in some places. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (58:01):
But yes, happy Mother's Day because you do have a
little baby girl ring I do. This is my second
Mother's Day. I think I believe it is this second
Mother's Day.
Speaker 3 (58:11):
But I wanted to say that, you know, we wanted
to send lots of love and energy to all the
people that are celebrating Mother's Day, but they don't have
their mother. You know, there are lots of people out
there that have lost their moms, maybe just a few
years ago or twenty years ago, or lost their mother figure.
Speaker 4 (58:26):
And I know Mother's Day and holidays can be really
hard for people that don't have their mom or their
mother figures anymore. So we want to remember those people,
reach out to those people and send them extra love
around this this Mother's Day.
Speaker 3 (58:38):
Yeah, I mean, Scarlet was here today and you see
her mother died when she was twelve years old. Yeah,
so sometimes that's not easy for people who are dealing
with loss.
Speaker 5 (58:47):
Yes, so let's be sensitive to that as well.
Speaker 4 (58:49):
And let's reach out to them and give them extra love.
Speaker 5 (58:52):
And that's you know.
Speaker 4 (58:52):
And if we still have our mothers, let's hold them
extra tight this Mother's Day and just kind of remember
in love on each other.
Speaker 3 (58:58):
Well, my mommy's still around, So happy Mother's Day.
Speaker 5 (59:01):
Mom, and my mom is too.
Speaker 4 (59:02):
Happy Mother's Day, mama.
Speaker 3 (59:03):
You know, and also for your baby mama's Yes that
don't be a jerk. I was gonna say something else,
but I know I.
Speaker 4 (59:10):
Saw, I saw your lips.
Speaker 5 (59:11):
Yeah, don't be a grizzy gobbler. Don't be make sure
you get her a present. Don't got to be from you.
Speaker 3 (59:17):
It could be from your child. Yeah okay, but if
she's doing a great job as a mom, show her
some love. And I'm sure for Father's Day she'll show
you some love to yeah.
Speaker 5 (59:26):
Sidebar.
Speaker 4 (59:26):

know where in Atlanta we should eat.

Speaker 5 (59:48):

Speaker 10 (01:00:01):

Speaker 16 (01:00:01):

Speaker 13 (01:00:03):
I want to shine a light out to my mom, Helen,
rest in peace. She's up to heaven. She was my rock,
she was my soul. I played for her every day
because I know she's shinning blesses on me. So I
just want to send a shout out to my mom
in heaven and to every mom in heaven right now.
God blessed us all, God bless them, and let's move
forward with life with peace and love.
Speaker 9 (01:00:23):
Thank you.
Speaker 8 (01:00:24):
My husband's father was caught in a compromising position. I
know that his wife is actually very religious, and a
friend of mine, a male friend of mine, invited me
out and we went to a swingers club and at
the time, my significant other and I were just talking.
We weren't, you know, serious, We were just talking. So
(01:00:46):
I went to the swingers club and his father was
their part taking and I never said anything, but I
just thought that that was very, very interesting, knowing that
his father had no business being there and his wife
would never approve of.
Speaker 9 (01:01:03):
Anything like that.
Speaker 2 (01:01:05):
Listen, you vabbing way up with Angela Yee
