It's waiting it. But so we're gonna have to add
half a day.

Day.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
No, when you lose it beat, you don't get to
pick and choose.
Speaker 7 (01:37):
But I got I got many jobs. I have many responsibilities.

Yes, indeed, what day is this over with? Oh my gosh,
I'm gonna smell good? All right, all of a sudden
I went some freedo Leys. Now let's get into this yet,
Alicia Keys. You know she's got this Broadway play coming
Hell's Kitchen. It's a semi autobiographical music home and tickets
are on sale right now. So if anybody wants to
(06:44):
get those pre sale tickets, you can get them. And
here's what you have to say. When she was on
way up at Angela Yee about the play.
Speaker 14 (06:51):
You're gonna find a girl named Ali in her seventeenth
year and she really struggling, and she's struggling with her independence,
she's struggling with her identities, she struggling with who she is,
where she's going, what she's meant to do, and you
really feel for her. Ultimately, it's a love story between
a mother and a daughter, and that's kind of ultimately
where you get to.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
But it's a lot of struggles.
Speaker 5 (07:11):
This sounds familiar right for everybody? Yeah, everybody related?
Speaker 3 (07:15):
Yeah, all right, she's been working on.
Speaker 5 (07:18):
For like ten years.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
Very relatable mm hm.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
And it's definitely her her story, So this should be
interesting to see. I will definitely go to Broadway to
go see this, and we are gonna go.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
Right, Yeah, we're gonna pull up. We did a couple
of things like that before. I want to go see.
Speaker 5 (07:32):
Yeah. You know who is producing the play right now?
Speaker 2 (07:34):
To her, she's produced for her.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
Yeah, her play that she's part of the production, the
producer for she is actually invested.
Speaker 5 (07:41):
I want to make sure we go see that one too.
All right.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
Now, people are upset because money Bag Yeo's tour has
been canceled. A lot of those dates are canceled and
so people are saying it's due to low ticket sales,
but that has not been confirmed.
Speaker 5 (07:55):
But that's what has been happening a lot.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
If we've been seeing that with a couple of artists.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
Yes, But it's interesting because it's also hard that there's
a lot of people on tour right now. You know,
Beyonce's on tour a lot of tours, which is expensive.
Drake and twenty one Savage are on tour together, so
there's a lot of and these big arena tours are expensive.
Speaker 7 (08:15):
Then you've got like legacy artists like Boutanganize just selling out.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
Yep, ll cool J Wrap the Bells is back fifty yes, right,
So there's a lot going on, so we know people's pockets.
Speaker 5 (08:28):
You got to sometimes picking toos.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
I know people who went to go see Beyonce in
Detroit recently and they were like, look, I just had
to bite the bullet and buy those tickets because people
want to.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
See then they're not going to go they may not
go see.
Speaker 5 (08:40):
The Drake, right, You got to pick and choos, all right. Well,
speaking of Drake, Drake.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
Is the first rapper to surpass five million dollars in
tour revenue from a single US arena concert.
Speaker 5 (08:52):
That's the first one night artist.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
Yes, one night that was in Washington, DC, and each
night he growsed, did back to back shows.
Speaker 5 (09:00):
Each night he grossed over five million dollars.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
Wow, so that means for two nights he grossed ten
million dollars all right, Now, the highest grossing hip hop
tour in history is Kenchick Lamar is the Big Steppers
tour that made one hundred and eleven million dollars.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
That was the whole toy though, the whole tour.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
Yes, so right now, so we'll see what happens. As
Drake is continuing, it's all a blur.
Speaker 7 (09:23):
Is that all just ticket sales or is that counting
merchant that's his ticket sales.
Speaker 5 (09:28):
Yeah, so there you go.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
And Snoop Dogg has dropped his first collection with Sketchers.
He said, these shoes are for everyone. You know, he
has his own ice cream also, but now he has
the Snoop Dogg Sketchers collection. It's nostalgic og and remix
designs with nods to snoop sickness signature style and his
name on every shoe.
Speaker 5 (09:48):
So that actually dropped a couple of days ago on Tuesday.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
Nice, we'll get you a pair, like you want.
Speaker 3 (09:52):

next week for you, I can see you all right.
And speaking of sneakers, mac Miller has been honored with
a Van's collaboration that's dropping today. So it's the five
year it's been five years since he passed away and
oh no since he released his fifth studio album Sorry.
Twenty twenty three is the five year anniversary since he
released his fifth studio album Swimming. So to celebrate that,
(10:27):
they actually have teamed up to create a special iteration
of the Van's classic sneakers. So a portion of the
proceeds will benefit the mcmiller Fund. You can go to
shop dot Macmiller's website dot com to get these pretty
nice and Kobe, his first ever signature sneaker, is returning

three stripes, which was originally released in the late nineties.
It was formerly known as the KB eight. And so
you can get have a chance to get those as well.

just to check things out, right, He did have on
the outbum let me Yeah, I just posted a picture
of it and facetimed you from the airport because I
(11:34):
kept on doing these pop up face times just to
make sure it's way you put angela ye.
Speaker 5 (11:38):
About last night? Is next?
Speaker 1 (11:40):
So about last night? Last night? Last night Deza went down.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
Yeah, it's way you put angela yee. I'm Angela Yee
and Mano is here.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
No, man, let's go.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
They four and it's time for about last night. Now

Speaker 2 (12:08):

watching the game. You know, street basketball is big in
New York. Shout out to miss b Shout out to Kenny,
(12:36):
Shout out to Mikey. They always been showing me love.
And that's one of the parks that that when you
come to the city, you gotta come through there culture.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
We always hear when you hear people talk about New York.
They do talk about Dykeman and if.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
Absolutely and then it's d Dykman.
Speaker 5 (12:50):
Nightlife and then what about the Rucker? Right, So what's
the difference.
Speaker 7 (12:54):
Ruck is probably the the mother of it all. It's
like they gave birth to I mean still yep, you
know last year me and a five year perform slide
in Rucca last past summer.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
All right, so people, when you come here, make sure
you make it to the Rucker, make it to Dykeman,
make sure you go out.
Speaker 5 (13:12):
And catch some of these games.
Speaker 2 (13:13):
She's on six.
Speaker 5 (13:15):
Okay, you know all right?
Speaker 3 (13:16):
Well for me, I was in Detroit and I saw
they put out a press release today. But Kevin Johnson,
he owns Fixing Soul Kitchen and you might have seen
it in La and Sacramento and Tulsa. Well, now they've
opened another location in Detroit, or they're gonna open it.
They just did a location announcement. So we had a
press conference there. So the mayor, Mike Dougan was there.
(13:37):
Our girl was there, Mary Sheffield, she's a city council president.
She actually has been on Way Up with Angelayee.
Speaker 5 (13:42):
She gave us the Spirit of Detroit Award up here
on Way up.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
At Angelaee, it looks very alive.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
My girl Jasmin DeForest, who wins the Gilbert Foundation, Dan
Gilbert's Foundation, she was there speaking.
Speaker 5 (13:52):
Also Hill Harper.
Speaker 2 (13:56):
My guy Hell. Shout out to Hill Harper.
Speaker 5 (13:58):
He's running for Senate.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
But actually he and Kevin Johnson went to school together,
and well, no they went, but they both went to
school in Sacramento and played each other in basketball.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
Yeah, And so clearly Kevin Johnson was better than the
NBA All Star But it was a good event, and
congratulations to him. What I love about Datority's all the
black owned businesses. When I first got there, I went
to go eat at this restaurant called Petty Cash.
Speaker 5 (14:22):
Shout out to my guy Lee.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
And they actually weren't even open, but they made us
a ridiculous amount of food and brought out like different
you know appat And then they've been open, but they
just that they don't open until Wednesday, So I got
there Tuesday nights. You it was so good that I'm
not gonna lie that I don't even normally like Brussels sprouts.
Do you like Brussels sprouts? Their Brussels sprouts were amazing.
(14:46):
There was like a honey on them. They were it
was so good. And then we also went to another
place called The Block, and that's another black owned restaurant.
Before I left to get on the flight, we went
to go eat there. So that's one of the things
I love Aboutdatority is they're very intentional on making sure
that black people are starting businesses and having their restaurants
and clothing stores and everything that they do out there
(15:06):
for the community.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
What is Soul Fixing's going to open up in Detroit.
Speaker 5 (15:10):
Fixing's Soul Kitchen. It's going to open in December.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
You know. Every time I'm in La I go to
the one in downtown La.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
Yeah, that used to be Shack's restaurant, used to be
called Shacks and now it's so good.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
And he actually talked about a lot of things about
the menu because the reason why their fried chicken is
so good is because they brian it for twenty four
hours beforehand. So shout out to Kevin Johnson and everybody
who was there yesterday. I had a good time, y'all know. Oh,
and CBS Detroit. We actually did an interview with CBS
out there, and that was about the thirty unit building.
So I also went to my building to pick the
(15:44):
flooring for that building. So we picked the flooring, we
picked the paint color scheme, and then we have to
submit the colors for the outside of the building because
it's a historical district, so we have to make sure
it complies. But that's it, getting all my work done
all right.
Speaker 5 (16:00):
Back, we have gurus of the gram These.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
Are people who are experts, some of them self proclaimed,
some of them we agree with and we uplift them.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
Or the gurus calling in secrets.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
No, they're actually uh, we're actually gonna play what one
person has to say.
Speaker 5 (16:16):
A double Grace m is her name.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
You can follow her on social media, and here's what
she had to say about men and women and self
control and our greatest weapons.
Speaker 15 (16:25):
When a man is broken, he can destroy everyone around
him by what he does. When a woman is broken,
she can destroy everyone around her by what she says.
That's why for a man, self control is his greatest
power and for a woman, silence is hers.
Speaker 5 (16:50):
Ooh, do you agree with that?
Speaker 1 (16:52):
Made?
Speaker 2 (16:52):
Though I don't know what she's saying, she needed to
go into more depth.
Speaker 3 (16:58):
I didn't get it for a man because I feel
like mano at times has not been able to practice
self control.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
What let's see the cap. Let's hear the cap right now.
Speaker 3 (17:06):
But we're gonna come back. I want to see what
you guys think. We'll talk about it again. Man, I'm
gonna get your take on it, and I tell you
what I think about silence being my greatest strength as
a woman and for you as a man.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
So they set you to be quiet then, right.
Speaker 5 (17:18):
As a as a strength because sometimes.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
Oh so you're not showing strength.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
Now I could kill you with my words, and it
takes a lot for me to hush up.
Speaker 5 (17:26):
All right.
Speaker 3 (17:26):
Eight hundred and two nine two fifty one fifty is
a number. Call it septsy if you agree. Gurus of
the Gram.
Speaker 9 (17:32):
Don't that talk? But is a cap or nah? They
are gurus of the Gram.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
Yes, it's way up with Angela Ye, I'm Angela yee.
And Mano is here day four, day three and a half.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
No, no, no, the cat has the.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
Same outfit because you lost the bet and it is
time for gurus of the Gram that we have at
double grace m and she is talking about men versus
women as far as uh destroying people.
Speaker 5 (17:58):
In a way.
Speaker 15 (17:59):
Here's what you said, when a man is broken, he
can destroy everyone around him by what he does. When
a woman is broken, she can destroy everyone around her
by what she says. That's why for a man, self
control is his greatest power, and for a woman, silence
(18:24):
is hers.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
All right, So I saw in the comments, and I
saw this on at VSG and a lot of people,
you know, having their own opinions, and what she says
about what a man does, right, Like, sometimes men when
they're broken and have things that have happened to them
that they have never addressed, they do things like they
go start a whole nother family down the block that
you don't know about. It's all kinds of things that
(18:47):
a man does.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
Yeah, that he.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
Doesn't know that just because he just liked the other girl.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
It's more than just that. It's usually more than just that.
If you have a home and a wife and a
family at home, I don't that's a longer conversation, okay.
And then for women, what she's trying to say is
silence is you know how they'll say silence is golden.
So you know, they'll say when a woman just stops
(19:12):
caring and she's fed up, she's more silent right, it
used to be we argue, this happens, I cry.
Speaker 5 (19:19):
But then when.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
It's just okay, that's when it's dangerous. That's when it's dangerous.
What do you think that's.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
When the women changed? When it goes dead silent? I mean,
I get it.
Speaker 7 (19:29):
So, I mean, if we was looking at it from
an argument standpoint, just don't say nothing that's gonna try
to step on my spirit or try to you know,
you know, play with my pride.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
You understand it could be anything. But let's see what
you guys think. Eight hundred two nine two fifty fifty
Gurus of the Graham Shelby.
Speaker 5 (19:46):
What do you think?
Speaker 16 (19:48):
I think the comic is very okay?
Speaker 5 (19:52):
Tell me why I feel.
Speaker 16 (19:55):
Like men can talk to us however we want, but
God forbid we get and in their feelings.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
Let me ask you this though, in an argument, right,
let's just say you're going back and forth. Have you
ever said something that was so hurtful to somebody that
you couldn't come back from it?
Speaker 16 (20:09):
I have, but I usually don't say anything until they
cross the line with me.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
And what was that that? You give me an example
of something you might say in an argument shall be.
Speaker 16 (20:19):
For instance, my husband. This will say you're doing too much.
Speaker 6 (20:24):
M h.
Speaker 16 (20:25):
Well, I'm sorry, but the things that you've done in
the past have made me feel the way that I
feel now.
Speaker 13 (20:31):
So if you wouldn't have.
Speaker 16 (20:32):
Done what you would initially did, then I wouldn't be
overthinking you're out with your boys, because you might be
out with yours again.
Speaker 5 (20:38):
Oh okay, all right, I see where you're coming from.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
Shallby. I'm sorry. You definitely are going through it.
Speaker 16 (20:44):
Yeah, and I feel like it's right for women be
able to like bully how they feel about search situations
and be quiet. I honestly feel like it's going to
more strain of the relationship.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
Okay, all right, Well, thank you Shelby for waiting. And
I see that really touch home for.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
You in period you think it was bogus?
Speaker 5 (21:02):
Yeah, all right, thank you. We appreciate your point of view.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
Ah Mine, Hello, miss Yan, how you doing it good?
Speaker 5 (21:09):
How are you?
Speaker 13 (21:10):
I'm good? Thank you?
Speaker 11 (21:11):
How y'all doing today?
Speaker 6 (21:12):
May know?
Speaker 3 (21:13):
What's what are your thoughts on this? Gurus of the
gram that we play for you?
Speaker 13 (21:18):
Okay, So I got three things for y'all to the
first one. First one is this, I actually agree with them,
so I actually have to have to work on my
anger from coming out the military. I like throughout the
military and coming out the military, I have to work
on my anger sometimes when I get mad, me and
my brother doesn't matter of fact, we get mad and
it just is up from there.
Speaker 11 (21:37):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 13 (21:38):
Right, But I also come from a family where there's
a lot of women, and I witnessed like women who
get mad and they start cutting with words, and I
just in there like dag like I can turn this
place upside down. But he really got homeboy, like he
about to go cry in the car tight here. You
know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
Okay, yeah, we can say, like I told you, may
gonna say some things really hurt your feelings.
Speaker 5 (21:57):
And what's the third thing?
Speaker 13 (21:59):
Hold on, so this thing number two, say number two.
I've been listening to the BREAKFASTLELT for years. So I'm
actually very proud of you and very happy for you
that now have floors and you got your own thing
going on. I didn't think I never get you. Congratulations.
Speaker 5 (22:13):
I appreciate that's a big deal.
Speaker 13 (22:15):
Of course. The third thing is I just got my
degree in communications, so when wanted to start working for you.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
He is so slick. All right, well listen, since you've
been practicing self control? Hold on, okay, okay, hey, rich
how are you?
Speaker 17 (22:29):
Hey?
Speaker 12 (22:29):
I'm doing good and yourself.
Speaker 1 (22:31):
I'm good.
Speaker 5 (22:31):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
What are your thoughts about double grace m as a
guru of the Graham. As far as men practicing self
control and women and their silence.
Speaker 12 (22:39):
I agree, because when a man lacks self control, his
life will end up in disarray. And as for females,
silence golden because females when they're angry, can say things
to get under your skin and they might regret it after.
Speaker 5 (22:55):
Yeah, I've heard some crazy things.
Speaker 3 (22:57):
Want to I remember somebody told me they told their
significant other when she was mad, that's why your mother died.
Oh yeah, and she could never come back from that.
Like he was like, I can't never ever forget that.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
Yeah, you can never come back. Yeah.
Speaker 12 (23:13):
And this is why men don't confide on women, because
women get angry and throw it in their faith.
Speaker 5 (23:18):
Man do the same thing, though I will say no.
Speaker 2 (23:20):
Not not so much, but women do it first.
Speaker 5 (23:23):
I think it's a case y'all do cut by words.
Speaker 7 (23:26):
So I don't understand why women like if you certain
things you know, is gonna trigger man, But you do
it anyway, don't you.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
But there is a lot of power in just silence,
because that's when y'all really be nice.
Speaker 5 (23:36):
Yep, all right.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
Well thank you you well go all right. Well, it
looks like people have their own personal experiences with it.
And to be clear, where gurus of the gram you know,
shout out to Double Grace M and VSG and they
always post a lot of really positive and thought provoking conversations.
But it's never anything that's across the board one way
or another, but it is something.
Speaker 7 (23:58):
That has a different perspective M because everybody got different experiences.
Speaker 3 (24:02):
Right, So it does make it think, So we appreciate
the guruls of the ground. Some of them are ridiculous,
though silent or do you just go when I get mad?
I'm definitely silent, But I'm very aware of not saying
things that I wish I hadn't said that could come
back later, even in the midst of a conversation with
somebody who would maybe I absolutely don't like, cannot stand.
I still will check myself because I never want to
(24:24):
put that energy out there, got it, you know? So
when we come back, we have yet and we'll be
talking about Lizzo.
Speaker 5 (24:30):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
There's been a lot of back and forth with her
and her former dancers and people who are saying that
she was abusive to them. So we'll tell you what
she had to say, and we'll tell you what some
of the dancers had to say. It's way up with
Angela yee, they.
Speaker 9 (24:43):
Says rooms from industry shade to all of gossip out
Angela's feeling that.
Speaker 5 (24:49):
Ye okay, it's way up with Angela yee, Angela yee.
And Maino is here, No.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
Matt, it's right, day number four.
Speaker 5 (24:58):
Day four, three and a half of the same. I
just looked of it.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
You put on a different out not different, put a
hoodie on over your out right.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
This is here. It's a nice hity, thank you money dreams.
Speaker 3 (25:10):
But unfortunately we have to add another day. I've this
bet that you lost and we're in the same clothes
for a week. That's not the same thing you had on.
But let's move on to eut please we'll discuss this later,
all right now. Lizzo has been accused of sexual harassment
and weight shaming. Also, there have been allegations of disability discrimination, assault,
(25:32):
and false imprisonment, religious harassment, and these charges are against Lizzo,
her production company, and also Shirlen Quigley, who.
Speaker 5 (25:40):
Is the captain of Lizzo's dance team.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
Now, Lizzo has issued a response to allegations that were
made against her and her production company, and here is
first before we tell you what she said in response,
let's give you some of these allegations. Now, there are
three former dancers, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noel Rodriguez
that are making these allegations, and they recently did an interview.
(26:04):
They were actually on TMZ and here's what one of
them had to say about when they sought out a lawyer, there.
Speaker 6 (26:12):
Was like this feeling of thinking that if you didn't
do something, or you didn't adhere to certain suggestions or demands,
that your job could be in jeopardy. Or example, whenever
we were in contact with our agents and we were
trying to negotiate receiving a retainer while we were working
with the team, things started being more tense. And after
negotiations for retainers began, we got an email saying that
(26:38):
the way that we have been acting was unprofessional and
that it could be grounds for termination.
Speaker 5 (26:42):
And that's just one specific instance. All right now.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
Arianna Davis, who was speaking there, also talked about once
they discovered that she was a virgin, that is when
Sirlene Quigley, who is captain of Lizzo's dance team, would
routinely discuss that subject, bringing up in interviews and even
post about it on social media. And this is all
part of this whole religious discrimination. So here is the
(27:06):
rest of these allegations by Arianna Davis where she talks
about getting fired.
Speaker 6 (27:11):
To what she then brought up, the allegations of us
drinking before shows. I raised my hand to speak. She
allowed me to speak, and in that moment I let
her know that you know, we never partook in those
activities and that we would never put ourselves, her or
the show or our jobs in jeopardy. And days later,
her manager, one of her tour managers, terminated me in
(27:34):
a hotel lobby.
Speaker 5 (27:37):
All right.
Speaker 3 (27:37):
Now, lastly, this one of the accuses Krista Williams, who
told you this. Three of them also talked about getting fired,
and that is where the whole discrimination against her weight
comes into play.
Speaker 5 (27:50):
Here's what she claims, I.
Speaker 18 (27:52):
Had felt for a really long time but they were
questioning my abilities due to weight gain.
Speaker 19 (27:59):
It was ever explicitly said, hey, you know you're gaining weight, your.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
Job is in jeopardy. It was never that.
Speaker 18 (28:06):
It was very nuanced, It was very under the rug,
and I think that language was used to keep from
being canceled.
Speaker 3 (28:16):
Okay, so there's a lot to this, right, But Lizzo
did respond, and she said, these last few days have
been gut wrenchingly difficult and overwhelmingly disappointing. My work ethic, morals,
and respectfulness have been questioned, my character has been criticized.
Usually I choose not to respond to false allegations, but
these are as unbelievable as they sound, and two outrageous
to not be addressed. These sensationalized stories are coming from
(28:39):
former employees who have already publicly admitted that they were
told that behavior on tour was inappropriate and unprofessional. So
she said, I'm not here to be looked at as
a victim, but I also know that I am not
the villain that people in the media have portrayed me to.
Speaker 5 (28:50):
Be these last few days.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
She goes on to end the whole statement with I'm hurt,
but I will not let the good work I've done
in the world be overshadowed by this.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
Wow, this is starting to sound like a surviving Lizzo.
Speaker 5 (29:01):
Well, I will say this.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
Lizzo is from Detroit, and so there's definitely people there
that know.
Speaker 5 (29:06):
Her family and know her. So I've been hearing some.
Speaker 3 (29:08):
Things, good things. I've been hearing some things in support
of Lizzo. But then I've been hearing things on both sides.
So I guess we just have to let things play
out because everybody's telling their story and their experience as well.
But there was another statement that was made, and this
is by Sophia Nali Allison, and she was directing the
(29:29):
Lizzo documentary and she said she walked away from it
after being treated with such disrespect by Lizzo. She said
she left the project after two weeks of shadowing her
because if arrogant, self tendered and unkind behavior from Lizzo.
She said she was thrown into a issuy situation with
little support, and she posted on Instagram. I usually do
not comment on anything pop culture related, but in twenty nineteen,
(29:50):
I traveled a bit with Lizzo to be the director
of her documentary. I walked away after about two weeks
I witness how arrogant, unkind, and cruel she is. I
was not protected and thrown into that situation with little support.
My spirits to run as fast as you f and Cannon.
I'm grateful I trusted my gut. I felt gas lit
and deeply hurt. But I've healed.
Speaker 20 (30:07):
Is she saying that now or does she say that before?
She's saying this now, So she didn't say all this before. No,
she never said this before. But you know she's just
commenting on it. She's not trying to press charges or anything.
She I guess saw these stories and is like, okay,
it's not just me, got it? So these are all
allegations at this point, and that is your yeetie.
Speaker 5 (30:28):
And when we come back, we have under the radar.
Speaker 3 (30:30):
These are the stories that are not necessarily in the headlines,
like Lizzo story is, they've been flying under the radar.
Speaker 5 (30:36):
It's way up with Angela ye.
Speaker 1 (30:38):
News.
Speaker 9 (30:38):
This in the news that relates to you. These stories
are flying under the.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
Radar, all right, it's way up with Angela Ye. I'm
Angela Yee, and Mana was here and a whole different
outfits before they they got to add a couple of days.
All right, well under the radar stories right now, So
another home depot employee has been charged. This is a
(31:04):
massive fraud scheme. Now allegedly, this is the fifth home
depot employee at who is accused of participating in this
gift card fraud scam. It costs the retailer at least
six million dollars in losses. Rosa Renoso Rodriguez, who's thirty
four years old, is charged with participating in a continuing
financial crime andenterprise. So she worked at this home depot
(31:28):
at the twenty five to seventy North Elston location, this
in Chicago, and prosecutor said that she issued nine hundred dollar.
Speaker 5 (31:36):
Gift cards three hundred and thirteen times.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
So she was just giving out these nine hundred dollar
gift cards and she did it three hundred and thirteen times.
Speaker 5 (31:45):
I guess she's scamming.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
So she was working a deal out with somebody where
I'll give you this gift card, you give me X
amount of dollars, and then you go use the gift
cards to make these purchases.
Speaker 2 (31:55):
She was getting busy.
Speaker 5 (31:56):
I don't know why.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
You would think that you could get away with that
for so long though, But this all started in March.
Speaker 5 (32:01):
Of twenty twenty.
Speaker 2 (32:02):
Wow, I should have stopped.
Speaker 5 (32:05):
Now.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
What happened was somebody made a six thousand dollars purchase.
Now days later, somebody returned to the store and said
the purchase was for a tax exempt church. The store
employee accepted the tax exempt document and issued the representative
a nine hundred dollars gift card for the tax value.
And that same receipt was used for over three years
to generate more than.
Speaker 5 (32:25):
Six thousand gift cards.
Speaker 3 (32:27):
And so those gift cards, that's why it was a
nine hundred dollars that was a tax exempt status. They
used that receipt and then just kept using the same
receipt to get nine hundred dollars gift cards. I don't
even know how you're able to scan the same receipt
that many times, right, that doesn't seem like you should
even be allowed to do that, But somehow they managed
to do that, and.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
So will there's a way, yes.
Speaker 3 (32:49):
So that's the latest person charged with that, as we
call them here, giffees. All right, now, let's talk about
another credit card thing, and this is legitimate American Express.
Speaker 5 (33:02):
If you are in New York City.
Speaker 3 (33:04):
They will pick up your dinner bill this month Wednesday
nights in August. All right, So what they're doing is
a brand new pick up the check promotion that actually
starts next week on Wednesday, and they're doing dinner on
us all month long. So you have to make a
reservation for these special meals and they'll take place every
Wednesday evening. The it's open at ten am each Monday,
(33:25):
and the goal is to encourage locals to explore neighborhood gems.
So you take advantage of resident AMX's dining partnerships and
diners get ninety nine dollars off per person off the check.
So that's a good deal. That's definitely a freemale. Now
there's also restaurants in La d C, San Francisco, Chicago,
and Miami also participating.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
I like it. It has to be a restaurant that's participation.
Speaker 3 (33:48):
Yes, it has to be at and trust and believe
we will find out. I think starting Monday they open
up the reservation, so you know, I'm gonna try for that,
all right. Well, that is you're under the radar and
when we come back, you know, we got the way
up mix at the top of the hour plus. I
re Scott is gonna be joining us all right. He's
got a new single out featuring Eric Bellinger. But he's
also a writer and producer for some of your favorite artists,
(34:11):
so you get to hear him talk about all of
those things. That's way up at Angela Yee.
Speaker 15 (34:16):
She's like the talk like they Angela Jean, like they
Angela Jee.
Speaker 9 (34:19):
Man, She's spilling it all. This is yeat, way off.
Speaker 5 (34:26):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (34:26):
It's way up at Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee and
Mano is here.
Speaker 2 (34:29):
Day four, Day four, the same outfit.
Speaker 5 (34:31):
I'm not gonna lie. I'm tired.
Speaker 3 (34:32):
I went to Miami to work from Saturday to Sunday
and then Detroit from Tuesday to Wednesday, moving around and
doing the show all at the same time. I'm gonna
sleep so good this weekend. But let's get into some
yet now. Earlier, we played for you two of the
three women who are accusing Lizzo of harassment of all
(34:55):
kinds of things discrimination. They were on the watch Out
for the Big Girls Show, and one of the women,
Arianna Davis, was very vocal about what she feels like
are some things or what she says that Lizzo did
to her. Lizzo did respond and say that she was
very hurt by these allegations that they weren't true. Well,
now we see her attorney, Marty Singer, is speaking out.
(35:17):
He told TMZ, these do not sound like the words
of someone who was arrested, are discriminated against by someone
they described as the queen.
Speaker 5 (35:24):
And what is he talking about.
Speaker 3 (35:25):
Well, this video is of Arianna Davis, that same woman,
and she was auditioning for season two of Watch Out
for the Big Girls. And here's what she had to
say on her audition tape earlier this year in April.
Speaker 19 (35:36):
I've been working with Lizzo for some months, maybe close
to a year now, and it's been so amazing in
such a beautiful journey. I look up to her so
much and I just want to follow on her footsteps.
Speaker 3 (35:50):
All right now, Marty Singer said, they say that a
picture is worth a thousand words, and here are a
few video that shows that there's no legitimate claims in
this lawsuit. We are confident that Lizo will be completely
ven dedicated in this matter.
Speaker 7 (36:01):
So she did that to audition for season two, Yeah,
for season two, after she already supposedly felt like she
was being discriminated against and she was being.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
Rash and stuff like that. So she's lying out.
Speaker 3 (36:14):
Something one of them is not is not So I'm
sure she'll respond to this as well. So we'll see
what she has to say. We're just reporting and watching
and seeing what's happening. Now here's something that's amazing. At
the age of seventy nine, Patty LaBelle has a best
selling brand at Walmart. All Right, you have to love this,
(36:34):
the fact that she has these brands that are selling
so well inside of Walmart. She is one of the
two hundred fresh spaces on the third annual Forbes fifty
over fifty that highlights women making power plays at age fifty, sixty,
seventy or beyond. And so here is what Patti LaBelle
had to say about everything that she's been doing with
(36:55):
Patty's Good Life.
Speaker 8 (36:56):
I wanted to grow to the best product in the world,
and I understand that my pies are number one around
the world, and I just found that out. I mean,
I want everything to be great, and that's why I
can keep imploring people and keep on giving great food
quality items and whatever I do, it's going to be honest.
Speaker 3 (37:17):
So she makes about twenty million dollars. She made about
twenty million dollars in revenue last year, and she and
her son own one hundred percent of the company, So
shout out to them for that.
Speaker 2 (37:29):
Patty Pies, Patty.
Speaker 5 (37:31):
But she got a whole line up out of sea.
Speaker 2 (37:33):
She's a bunch of stuff. Yeah, Walmont, you see all
kinds of stuff.
Speaker 5 (37:36):
So that's amazing that she.
Speaker 3 (37:38):
I mean, they got mac and cheese, they got a
sweet potato pie, chicken and biscuits, peach cobbler, and every
single one of those dishes is based on her own recipes.
So shout out to Patty LaBelle. Patty's good life and
she's very hands on with it. I've witnessed it myself,
all right. Lupe Fiasco has partnered with Google to create
a new AI tool for rappers. He recently announced his
(37:59):
new vent and so basically the tool is called text fx.
It specifically focuses on the writing process of creating raps.
Speaker 2 (38:08):
So, so how does it go?
Speaker 3 (38:10):
He said, a rap is born out of technology. Rap
wouldn't exist if it wasn't for these technological advancements. So
he describes different ways that technology has impacted rap and
this is artificial intelligence large language models, and he said
it's optimal for rap. So you can have an AI
system write lyrics for you.
Speaker 5 (38:28):
Can you imagine that? Would you do that? So you
can co write songs?
Speaker 3 (38:31):
Right, they use it in your own voice, right, so
imagine that.
Speaker 7 (38:36):
So instead of being able to do one or two
songs in night, you can probably do a whole album
in one night.
Speaker 3 (38:40):
Yeah, different opportunities. So it does require you to still work.
It's not doing the actual work for you, but it
can help you come up with that. Somebody in the
room process giving you some ideas like, oh, try this,
you should try it.
Speaker 2 (38:54):
I want to. I want to. I want to test
that out.
Speaker 3 (38:56):
Yeah, Like that would be interesting because they actually on
this video you get to see him actually create a
song and the song is called glass of Water, all right,
and he performed the song on the video.
Speaker 5 (39:07):
Yeah, all right.
Speaker 3 (39:08):
Now, Tory Lanes his lawyers want to get him released
from jail and enrolled into a substance abuse program. So
what they're trying to do now is get him released
on probation. And according to Law and Crime reparton Megan Kunif,
by the way, he told us, don't listen to her,
but they said their client was suffering from alcoholism at
the time of the alleged shooting and his culpability was
(39:29):
therefore reduced. They also have a report from a psychologist
who met with Tory Lanes in jail last month detailing
his traumatic childhood, including the violence, abuse, grief, and neglect
that he experienced growing up that contributed to him developing
an alcohol program.
Speaker 2 (39:43):
So they admitting that he did it by saying that he.
Speaker 5 (39:46):
Was on I mean, he was found guilty of it.
Speaker 2 (39:48):
Right, so, but he still was saying that he was innocent.
Speaker 3 (39:51):
Yeah, I guess now it's a different approach.
Speaker 5 (39:54):
Right, let's try to get you.
Speaker 2 (39:56):
Oh, we did it, but we did it because we
were drunk.
Speaker 3 (40:00):
Yeah, they're still calling it an alleged shooting. So they're
just saying that he was suffering from alcoholism at the
time and he needs to be in a program and
not in jail. All right, Well, that is your yee
T And when we come back, let's talk about it.
Speaker 5 (40:14):
Steria.
Speaker 3 (40:14):
We didn't get to in yee T. And this is
Adam twenty two and Lenda the Plug. They actually have
something going on this evening. I want to see what
you think about it, it's way up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 1 (40:26):
You way up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 3 (40:28):
What's happens way up at Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee
and Mano is here.
Speaker 2 (40:32):
That's me, babie.
Speaker 3 (40:33):
All right, So I wanted to talk about this. We
didn't get to this in yee T. But Adam twenty
two and his.
Speaker 5 (40:40):
Are they married or is it married? Leon the Plug?
They've been married not that long.
Speaker 2 (40:44):
It just got married a few months ago, all right.
Speaker 3 (40:46):
She also did an adult scene with Jason Love and
the video is out.
Speaker 2 (40:50):
And about it. Jason Love said he was the one
doing the stretching.
Speaker 3 (40:53):
Yes, and then it turned into this whole w W
E type scenario.
Speaker 2 (40:56):
With them going no, I was the one doing the stretching.
Speaker 3 (41:02):
Well, it looks like Adam and his wife are now
trying to do even more in.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
This space, right milk in a moment?
Speaker 3 (41:09):
Yeah, that sounds like some type of fetish. But Adam
twenty two, people are saying that he is Can I say,
all right for allowing his wife to have sex with
another man, and he seems to love it. He's embracing
all of this, and everybody's been talking about it. So
why not keep coming up with new ideas and this
is the lane that you moved into then fully into it.
(41:33):
So now he said that he and Lenna will be
doing a new plug talk stream. It's going to involve
a lot of different elements. So basically, they want to
pack the room with ten adult entertainers. They'll all be naked,
and there'll be segments where a few members go have
sex in the other room while people on the podcast
actually react to that.
Speaker 5 (41:53):
And I'll let him explain it some more.
Speaker 3 (41:55):
But here's what he has to say about what they're
planning to do, and this is going to be on tonight,
by the way, listen to this.
Speaker 21 (42:01):
But we're doing a stream where in one room we're
gonna have a giant table with ten or more microphones
and we're gonna have a whole bunch of different hot
porn stars. And then right next door to this room
on the YouTube stream, Yes, at the same time as
the YouTube stream, we're gonna have another stream that is
going to be streamed on only fans. In one room,
(42:22):
we're gonna have all of the different girls, the guys,
the Adam, the Lenna, et cetera. And then as the
stream goes, we're gonna be having people take breaks and
go in the other room and and we're gonna be
watching it and reacting.
Speaker 5 (42:34):
All right, So I mean, yes, sex fest.
Speaker 3 (42:39):
I can imagine you think his streams and and monetization
is going.
Speaker 2 (42:43):
Through the roof.
Speaker 7 (42:44):
Absolutely absolutely. Once they once they did the thing with
with the uh with the guy.
Speaker 5 (42:48):
Jason Love, right, and he's been doing his own.
Speaker 7 (42:50):
Yeah, yeah, it kind of just took it up a notch. So, yeah,
there's a lot of people won't.
Speaker 2 (42:55):
Be tuned in.
Speaker 13 (42:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (42:56):
Candice Owen was weighing in on it.
Speaker 3 (42:59):
Yes, And according to TMZ, the searches have been soaring
on porn Hut just for both of their names. They
said after Lenna's new scene with Jason Love, searches for
her have skyrocketed over two thousand percent, Searches for Adam
twenty two climbed by over four thousand percent, and then
searches for Jason Love have grown by about fourteen hundred percent.
Speaker 2 (43:22):
He's the one doing the stretching.
Speaker 5 (43:24):
Yeah, he's the one doing the stretching.
Speaker 3 (43:25):
It feels like he got the short end of the
stick because all the other searches have gone up so much.
But Adam twenty two actually did tell TMZ that this
has already brought in a boatload of money for them,
and he says it's actually improved their sex life after
watching the scene together. I remember he bought her a
Lamborghini to celebrate her first ever scene with a man.
Speaker 5 (43:50):
Can you imagine?
Speaker 2 (43:51):
No, I couldn't imagine. But that's not my thing.
Speaker 7 (43:53):
But I mean in porn, you've got a lot of
people that's married and allowed the wives to have scenes
with other men.
Speaker 5 (43:58):
You know what, I thought she never had with another man.
Speaker 7 (44:00):
He didn't, right, that was the first time. And I
believe that they're gonna continue. I think that he's going
to allow her.
Speaker 2 (44:07):
To do more right.
Speaker 3 (44:08):
And it's not even a matter of allowing her right.
I guess like he's encouraging it. It's not even just saying, partner,
this is a business.
Speaker 7 (44:16):
Right, And they look at sex as a business. They
look at sex probably not the way we look at it.
Speaker 2 (44:21):
It's a job.
Speaker 7 (44:22):
So they detach from the emotion standpoint of it and
they get in there.
Speaker 5 (44:26):
And just and then the second's really lucrative for them.
Speaker 3 (44:29):
Has to be clear that sex industry definitely can be
it is, but there's also a lot of people in
that space that aren't really making money like that.
Speaker 7 (44:37):
They got to build up their brand. They build up
the brand first, and then you know, he because he
had has a regular podcast, No Jump On, he built
that up, and he built up his streams, and he
built up his name. And then what he was doing
was he had a podcast, plug Talk, where he's having
conversations with adult entertainers and then having sex with them
with his wife.
Speaker 5 (44:57):
Yeah, what would you call this? Multi me?
Speaker 20 (45:00):
Yeah, platforms just check it up a whole nother notch.
Speaker 3 (45:05):
So all right, well here we are talking about it.
Have you ever done his No Jumper podcast?
Speaker 2 (45:11):
I did, yeah a few years back in l A.
Speaker 5 (45:13):
All right, but don't let them talk you into anything.
Speaker 7 (45:15):
MA know, might break out my own only fans.
Speaker 3 (45:24):
And shout out to the woman in my DMS asking
me to hook her up with Maino. You gotta unblock
your page. As soon as you unblock your page, I'm
gonna show him and.
Speaker 2 (45:31):
We could check you out.
Speaker 5 (45:33):
Okay, well no you can.
Speaker 3 (45:35):
We could starts all right, Well that is your I
guess information about what's going on. I don't know what
to call it. And Land of the Plug and let's see.
If you guys are going to be watching, you can
always hit us up Way Up with Ye on Instagram,
on Twitter, on threads, make sure you check out everything.
Also on our YouTube channel, Way Up with Ye. And
(45:57):
we do have Ivy Scott joining us this morning, and
that's going to be a lot more of a work conversation.
Speaker 5 (46:03):
Yeah, it's way up with you. Yeah, that's all work.
Speaker 1 (46:08):
Yeah, back at it. Angela is on What with Angela?
Speaker 3 (46:15):
Yee, I'm Angela ye, and Mano is here. Mano, are
you gonna talk about what you're doing today?
Speaker 2 (46:20):
I'm going to an improv class?
Speaker 5 (46:22):
Okay? So what do you do in improv classes?
Speaker 2 (46:24):
You know, you learn how to improvise?
Speaker 7 (46:27):
Right, So a lot of comedians do improvise, like the
show Kirby Enthusiasm.
Speaker 5 (46:30):
I love that.
Speaker 7 (46:31):
So they said that they didn't actually have a script.
It was kind of like all improv okay, so a
lot they had a basis understanding of where they wanted
wanted to go with the scenes, but it was no
like direct lines.
Speaker 5 (46:44):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (46:44):
Like so the Crazy Eyes Killer episodes, right, that's all
impact my favorite right, right.
Speaker 2 (46:49):
They knew what we didn't want it to start and
we didn't want to go.
Speaker 7 (46:51):
I guess they have like beats, but they don't have
like a specific, strictly worded script that you gotta follow.
Speaker 3 (46:58):
All right, that's gonna be timing. You know, why don't
you invite me to come partake in this too? I
think I'd be good at some improv.
Speaker 2 (47:04):
No, I think you already mastered it.
Speaker 3 (47:07):
I need to brush up on it. And I want
to take some classes. You know, I'm maybe gonna take it.
I love to take a class, So my next one,
you going, Okay, I'm coming. We gotta do some impro
we should film it.
Speaker 2 (47:17):
Let's go.
Speaker 5 (47:17):
It'd be interesting. Well, could we improv? You know what?
We should do some improv up here one day.
Speaker 2 (47:23):
Let's try. After I go get these lessons and I'm
gonna come back.
Speaker 5 (47:26):
Yes, oh my god.
Speaker 3 (47:27):
Maybe the teacher can come up maybe and let's do
some improv on the air, and then maybe some of
our listeners can partake. I would love that. All right, Well,
have fun with that today. But as you know, I
Scott is joining us today.
Speaker 5 (47:40):
Now. He has a new single out right now with
Eric Bellinger.
Speaker 3 (47:43):
And what I love about Ivy Scott is that he's
been in this business for quite some time.
Speaker 5 (47:49):
His new singles called just Like Me.
Speaker 3 (47:51):
He's finally stepping out from behind the scenes of being
a singer, I mean being a songwriter, a producer, to
being in front of the cameras.
Speaker 10 (47:59):
You know.
Speaker 5 (48:00):
He has songs with Neat Bugs Fab.
Speaker 2 (48:02):
Yes, right, I like that song.
Speaker 3 (48:03):
Yeah, he did some stuff with Fab as well. And
so you also know him from writing for five boy
dmo the song with Ed Sharon Peru.
Speaker 5 (48:11):
Okay, yeah he did that song. He has some really
huge songs.
Speaker 3 (48:15):
So now you get a chance he's from Chicago, to
hear what he has going on and how he even
got into that position because it wasn't easy for him.
So Ivy Scott is coming up next. It's way up
with Angela.
Speaker 5 (48:24):
Yee.
Speaker 1 (48:24):
You riding way up with Angela?
Speaker 5 (48:26):
Ye, what's up?
Speaker 3 (48:27):
It's way up for Angela yee. I'm Angela he and
I'm here with Chicago's.
Speaker 2 (48:31):
Own I Scott Scott in the building.
Speaker 5 (48:34):
It well, it's good.
Speaker 3 (48:35):
We got a chance to talk to you very briefly
at the BT Awards, but we said we got to
do a real sit down interview.
Speaker 2 (48:40):
So it was an honor to It was a magic
moment for sure.
Speaker 5 (48:42):
Well, listen, it's an honor to have you here.
Speaker 3 (48:44):
And I want to talk about just for people who
are listening, because Ivy Scott you have a new single
out right now, but let's first dig into your background
and what got you to where you are, because you've
written and produced for some of the biggest artists and
had some huge songs.
Speaker 5 (48:58):
So let's let's get into to it.
Speaker 2 (49:01):
Peru one of the ones.
Speaker 3 (49:03):
That was one of the ones five way dml ed shearing.
Speaker 2 (49:07):
We knew it was one when we made it.
Speaker 5 (49:09):
That's good.
Speaker 1 (49:09):
You knew it.
Speaker 5 (49:10):
You knew right away, Like it was.
Speaker 22 (49:12):
Literally a party. It was a party in the studio.
We was like, oh, yeah, this one.
Speaker 3 (49:16):
That's a good feeling. When else has that happened for you?
Where it felt like a party in the studio.
Speaker 22 (49:20):
I felt like when we did Baddest We're Young Blow
with Chris Brown, like it was a movie. We I
feel like we always feel like we make the best records,
you know what I'm saying. We having fun. Like my
brother hit Maker always tell me, if you ain't having
fun in the studio, it's trying to go home.
Speaker 3 (49:32):
So and hit Makers also the executive producer your project.
Speaker 2 (49:36):
Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 22 (49:36):
We actually did my single just like me, like two
years ago with me and Eric Belinger, and like, when
I came out the booth, hit was like, Yo, we're
not giving this to nobody. It's your record, So when
we dropped your project, it's gonna be the first one.
Speaker 3 (49:49):
So and you guys are both from Chicago. Yeah, yeah,
crazy and Beyonce. I saw when you that and found
out you got that Beyonce placement. That has to be
an amazing cast.
Speaker 2 (49:58):
That's another bucket list for sure.
Speaker 5 (50:00):
So how did you find that out? That news out?
Speaker 11 (50:01):
Man?
Speaker 2 (50:02):
Actually, we were in Arizona.
Speaker 22 (50:03):
I was with hit Maker and I was laying in
the bed and her track list came out and I
was like, I saw the title the song, and I
was like, nah, this didn't make the project, no way,
pulled it up, press play and I promise you. I
was like, I literally jumped in the pool in Arizona.
It was literally fully closed all jewelry. Oh my god,
everything that content will definitely surface.
Speaker 2 (50:23):
All right.
Speaker 3 (50:24):
I am talking to writer, producer and singer Ivery Scott.
Speaker 5 (50:28):
I saw you posted done being a Ghost.
Speaker 3 (50:31):
Yeah yeah, So explain what you were thinking at that time,
because it's interesting like we see artists come out on
the stage and the reaction to the audience when some
of these artists that you've written for they go on
stage and they're performing these huge songs that you know
you had a part in. Yeah, right, and so now
you got to come out and it's kind of like
starting all over to it at the same time, knowing
(50:51):
that you got these big, huge stadium songs, but now.
Speaker 5 (50:54):
You gotta do it for you.
Speaker 2 (50:55):
Yeah. No, I feel like, you know, you may hit records,
you make hit records. You know.
Speaker 22 (50:59):
There's been times while I been backstage watching artists before
my songs, and I knew it was time for me
to step out of the ghost world when I felt
the energy like that I should have been out there,
that I should be out there, I should be sucking
in the energy. And of course, like I've always wanted
to be an artist, but I've had a vision for
how I wanted to become an artist. Like I was
inspired by the dream, you know, I was inspired by Neo,
(51:20):
Like I loved the behind the scenes stories to come
to greatness. You know what I'm saying. Some of the
best artists that we have were writers before they were artists.
So like, I wanted to go on that trail. So
that's why you know I came.
Speaker 3 (51:30):
I came and I saw your story talking about how
you slept in your car.
Speaker 2 (51:35):
Yeah, nine months for nine months, yep.
Speaker 22 (51:37):
I moved Chica. Moved from Chicago when I was sixteen,
went to LA and I had a meeting with like
Sony Records at the time, and one of my friends
brought me down there. I had a meeting. The meeting
didn't go well, nothing happened. So the friend was like, yo,
you know what I'm saying, It's time to go back
to the rack. And I was just like, man, ain't
nothing out there in the rat for me, you know
what I'm saying. So I bought my first car, sold
(51:59):
my keyboard or lived in my car for nine months,
just chasing, just studio hoping. Just like That's why I
always say, like when people hop in the DM's like, bro,
give me a chance sign me. I'm like, man, you
gotta get hungry, you know what I'm saying. If you
want what you want, nothing can stop you. You just
gotta really want it. You gotta go get it. So
I slept in my car, you know what I'm saying.
It was times where my windows were tend it was
(52:19):
time where people trying to steal my car while.
Speaker 2 (52:21):
I was sleeping in it, you know what I mean.
Speaker 22 (52:23):
Like so, but you know, I give that the credit
because you know, you gotta go through something to get something.
Speaker 3 (52:28):
How much did that hurt for you at that time
to have to sell your keyboard knowing that you're still
pursuing this dream But this is something you really need too.
Speaker 22 (52:35):
I'm gonna tell you why because the first night I
slept outside and I was just like, you know, I'm
not gonna sleep outside. And if I sleep outside, I'm
gonna keep this keyboard anyway, It's gonna rain one day.
Speaker 2 (52:45):
So I've always known that, like sacrifices is the key
to anything. You know.
Speaker 22 (52:49):
I got a one hundred thousand dollars studio in my
house right now, So it's like, you know that sacrifices
what got me to this point.
Speaker 2 (52:55):
So no sought off my back for losing that. For shure,
I'm glad I sold it.
Speaker 6 (52:59):
Man.
Speaker 5 (53:00):
Anybody know what you was going through or was it
something you hear?
Speaker 22 (53:02):
I kept it low and I was always clean. I
was the cleanest homeless dudes you'll ever meet. You know
what I'm saying, My clothes in the trunk, you know
what I'm saying. But I was clean, man, I would
take showers in Walmart bathroom, like I would go in
like the pool area and apartments like I was like really,
but I was clean, like I wasn't no bum.
Speaker 2 (53:18):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 22 (53:19):
I feel like, you know, you always got address, you know,
for the job you want, not the one you got.
Speaker 3 (53:23):
All right, I am talking to writer, producer and singer
I Re Scott. So during this time, you always knew
though eventually it was going to happen. You knew that
this was a sacrifice. Was there every time you were like, man,
I might as well just go on ahead in touns.
Speaker 22 (53:36):
I probably quit ten thousand times, you know what I'm saying.
But at the end of the day, I always bounced
back because I knew what was on my heart, you know,
And as long as I'm breathing and living, I knew
that my existence was belonged to the music business, and
I just had to fight to get it.
Speaker 3 (53:48):
So when did things change? That was when you hooked
up but Ray Daniels and my Karen, is that what?
Speaker 22 (53:52):
Well, when I moved to Atlanta, Like I came to
Atlanta and I was heavily still pursuing music like every
place that I've ever been, Like I started off when
I was a kid. I had a studio in the
pantry of my mom's house. Like I've always created the
environment to create, you know what I'm saying. So when
I came to Atlanta, I was doing construction, you know
what I'm saying. I worked at Red Lobster like I was,
(54:14):
you know.
Speaker 2 (54:14):
What I'm saying.
Speaker 22 (54:15):
Like one thing for sure, Like my dad always told me, like,
you got to still feed yourself. That's why I tell
like a lot of my colleagues, like you don't have
to be a trapper to be a rapper.
Speaker 2 (54:24):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 22 (54:24):
You can go get a job and take care of
yourself and feed yourself and still pursue your dream. Show
for show, I used to come home from working twelve
hour shift, come home write ten songs a night.
Speaker 5 (54:35):
Damn.
Speaker 2 (54:35):
So it's like you gotta just you gotta be dedicated.
Speaker 5 (54:38):
Get from God for real to be it definitely is
to do that.
Speaker 2 (54:41):
Definitely is for sure for shore. I give everything to God.
Speaker 3 (54:44):
And what was your first check like when did you realize. Okay,
now people are starting to see it and I got
my first You said you got a publishing deal, but
what was the first placement that you got?
Speaker 22 (54:53):
Well, the first first, man, I kind of got a
couple placements at the same time. Like I worked on
Indieors project, which is early. I did some stuff with
him and Gunn and like it was like that was
like the early trail, but like Peru and Baddest were
kind of like the records that kind of like broke
me out and opened the floodgates. But before I had
those records, I probably had fifty placements already. Okay, all right,
(55:14):
but when I signed my publishing deal, I had none.
Ray Daniels invited me to his office and he set
out with me and he wrote me a check for
twenty K the first day I met him. Wow, he
wrote me a check for twenty K. He said, give
me some time when we get you a publishing deal.
He said, you're one of the best writers I've heard
of since since Neo and Minu. Tehran is under Ray
Daniels and he's one of the greatest of our era.
(55:35):
So like from that moment, like my life just kind
of like start going up. You know what I'm saying,
God open the doors.
Speaker 5 (55:41):
All right.
Speaker 3 (55:41):
This is Chicago's own Ivory Scott sitting with me on
Way Up with Angela Yee. When we come back, we
have more with him talking about his career, artists that
he's worked with, and his personal life. Of course, it's
way up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 1 (55:55):
Yeah, she back at it. Bring the Way Up with
Angela Yee.
Speaker 3 (55:59):
It's what's up way but Angela Ye, I'm Angela Yee
and Ivery Scott is here with me.
Speaker 5 (56:04):
And now you also have a family, so I want
to talk about that.
Speaker 3 (56:07):
So let's discuss, like, you know, just your personal life
as far as everything that you have going on outside
of music and the balance between work and home life.
Speaker 2 (56:15):
I mean, I feel like you got to separate those
worlds in music.
Speaker 22 (56:18):
This is the matrix to me, this is you know,
when I go how I go make my money when
I go home. I'm a country boy. You know what
I'm saying. I'm building cars, I'm building houses. I'm chopping
down trees. You know what I'm saying. Like I'm in
that bag, you know, talking down trees.
Speaker 2 (56:33):
Man. Yes, I got content. I'm gonna drop me cutting
down a big tree.
Speaker 5 (56:37):
This is crazy.
Speaker 22 (56:38):
Like, for I did construction, Like I build some of
the biggest buildings in Atlanta downtown right now, the handover buildings,
a penthouse. I actually ended up living in the penthouse
at once I got my deal.
Speaker 5 (56:47):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 3 (56:48):
Crazy, But this is amazing because you probably make so
much money doing that.
Speaker 22 (56:51):
Put this in perspective. Well, Ray Daniels gave me the
twenty K. He was basically telling me to say no
to a big contract that I was supposed to take.
Mike Caroen was like, why should I sign you? I said,
because you got me here in your office right now,
and I've only been able to get this ten percent.
Imagine if I was given one hundred percent, so I
knew when I had the transition, I had to give
it one hundred percent so I couldn't do the construction.
(57:11):
So basically, that twenty grand might sound like a lot
of money to somebody, but if you're making bread during
construction and stuff like that, you really had to downgrade
your life. So I had to lose in order I
had to go down to come up with your passion.
Speaker 5 (57:23):
Yeah, for sure, construction is a great thing.
Speaker 3 (57:25):
To be able to do, by the way, just to
have somebody your home build this room.
Speaker 5 (57:29):
Yeah, for sure, because we need some things in here.
Speaker 2 (57:32):
I got talking about management.
Speaker 3 (57:36):
We managed the construction too. Believe that if you want,
we don't have time for that. So now that you're
you have this new single out and actually sampled some
of our favorite artists Ralph Tresbient. Yeah, yeah, let's discuss
how you even you said this was two years ago
that you made this sign.
Speaker 2 (57:53):
It was two years ago. We were in Miami, me
hit maker, Eric Bellinger.
Speaker 3 (57:58):
Eric Bellinger is amazing too make it. I mean, that's
like a dream team right.
Speaker 2 (58:01):
There, for sure.
Speaker 22 (58:02):
Man. Like I just always think of us as like
the dream team, Like you know what I'm saying. We're
the best of the best. That's why most of the
biggest records come out of our camp. So like you know,
it was just us cooking, like like I said, like
doing ten records at night whatever, and that was just
happened to be one of the ones that we did.
But it felt special, you know what I'm saying at
that time two years ago, and like for the comfortull
circle of the day for hit to be executive producing
(58:23):
my project like you know, it's a dream for.
Speaker 2 (58:25):

Speaker 3 (58:26):
I am talking to writer, producer and singer Ivery Scott,
and you have an EP coming out next month?
Speaker 5 (58:33):
Is that correct? Okay?
Speaker 2 (58:34):
Project?
Speaker 5 (58:35):
So what I see Project Ebony?
Speaker 3 (58:37):
I see Suki Hanna's on their movie and who else
is on the project?
Speaker 5 (58:42):
My god, how could you not have Tank? All right?
So Tank, Suki Hana, who else?
Speaker 2 (58:46):
Tody dollars Son, Oh my.
Speaker 22 (58:47):
God, It's gonna make a world explode. But no, it's
a great, great record like we got. We got hit
hits together before this record. So for him to bless
my project, you know, sound blessed like to be able
to have like so many crazy people you know on
the project.
Speaker 3 (59:00):
So Project Ebnie first is an EP, but then there's
a full length project.
Speaker 2 (59:03):
Twelve songs, twelve songs.
Speaker 5 (59:05):
So both is Project Ebonie.
Speaker 2 (59:06):
Yeah, both this Project Ebnie.
Speaker 22 (59:07):
So basically we released just like me, you know what
I'm saying, and that we about to release three more joints.
I got Queen Nige on the project. She's the next single,
nice okay, And we got one and then we're gonna
roll it out as twelve songs. But we dropping three
songs next and then the whole project all roll out
over the next.
Speaker 2 (59:21):
Couple of months.
Speaker 3 (59:22):
And being that you wrote this song just like me,
so I assume the hook and everything is real life.
Speaker 22 (59:27):
Yeaheah, Nah, it's definitely that's the kind of woman I
feel like, you know what I'm saying, Like I'm a
man of multi facist like I was saying before, Like
I'm not just you know, in the music, like I
do basically whatever I want to do and everything. So
like I need somebody that can stand next to me
in that world, you know what I'm saying, Like I
might need you to hold up a two by four,
you know what I'm saying. Like, you know, I feel
like we always need somebody that's compatible with who we
(59:48):
are because a lot of times we begin with people
that are beautiful but are unbalanced with our energy.
Speaker 3 (59:52):
Well, let's talk about this chasing women with you too,
So you need that also, Nah, that was.
Speaker 5 (01:00:03):
Just for the song.
Speaker 2 (01:00:03):
Yeah, that was for the song. Yeah, that's for the song.
I Scott on the spot, I'm trying to tell you, well.
Speaker 3 (01:00:12):
I'm excited for and congratulations because all the work that
you've been doing behind the scenes. You right, it's time
to stop being a It's time for show for show,
all right.
Speaker 5 (01:00:19):

Speaker 22 (01:00:21):

you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (01:00:29):
Quite funny.
Speaker 2 (01:00:30):
I actually played one of I played one of the
one of the one of the dates.
Speaker 5 (01:00:33):
I don't even know if you notice that, but I
did not notice.
Speaker 2 (01:00:36):
Yeah. Now when you go back, you're gonna be like
this boy is a fool. But yeah, you having a
good time now for show for show. This is all right.
We got to express ourselves, all right.
Speaker 3 (01:00:44):
Well, thank you so much to Ivy Scott for joining us.
You can watch the full interview on the Way Up
with Ye YouTube page.
Speaker 5 (01:00:49):
And when we come back, we have asked yee. That's right.
Speaker 3 (01:00:52):
You could ask me and Mano, my award winning advice giver,
anything that you want to know and we are here
to help eight hundred and two nine two fifty.
Speaker 9 (01:01:01):
Since whether it's relationship for career advice, Angela's dropping facts,
you should know.
Speaker 1 (01:01:06):
This is as key.
Speaker 3 (01:01:07):
What's up his way up and Angela yee, I'm Angela ye.
And Mano is here yep. And Mano is an award
winning advice giver. So we are getting ready for ask
Ye eight hundred ninety fifty one fifty Do you have
any questions?
Speaker 1 (01:01:20):
Hello? Brian, Hey, how you doing good?
Speaker 5 (01:01:23):
How are you?
Speaker 4 (01:01:24):
I'm all right?
Speaker 5 (01:01:26):
So what is your question for ask Ye today?
Speaker 4 (01:01:29):
I've been dating girl for like three years, lover to death.
You know, every time we get intimate, all she wants
me to do is the back door?
Speaker 5 (01:01:40):
Okay, all right? So a no vaginal intercourse? Why is that?
Speaker 4 (01:01:45):
She tells me that she wanted to save herself for
when we finally do get married and all that.
Speaker 5 (01:01:51):
But why so why does she have this? Is it religious?
Speaker 8 (01:01:54):
Like?
Speaker 5 (01:01:54):
What is her reason for wanting to save that until marriage?
Speaker 4 (01:01:57):
I honestly, I really don't know because I have kid
tell me, like, you know, this is this is what
it is? Either I do that or I don't get nothing?
Speaker 5 (01:02:07):
All right, Joe? She considers herself a virgin?
Speaker 2 (01:02:09):
Still?
Speaker 5 (01:02:09):
Is that what she she believes?
Speaker 4 (01:02:12):
I know she she had it before and like I
asked her before, like you know what I'm saying, have
you ever you know, been intimate in that way with
a guy and she said, oh, no, I haven't, I haven't.
Speaker 3 (01:02:24):
It seems like the bigger issue is a you don't
believe her, which is an issue already for somebody if
you've been with them for three years she's telling you
something and you don't believe it. So I would be
concerned about the fact, why do you believe that she's
being dishonest with you? Because that's more of a red flag,
you know. As well. Number two, it seems that you're
not satisfied with just you don't want to keep on
(01:02:47):
having sex. She feels like she's doing that to appease
you because she's not ready for the vaginal intercourse, because
she's saving that from marriage, because she wants to be
a virgin you know when she it's married, which is listen,
I don't question why people do the things they want
to do.
Speaker 5 (01:03:03):
Is her decisions.
Speaker 2 (01:03:04):
Do you have somebody else on the side, like, are
you getting uh you know.
Speaker 13 (01:03:08):
No, no, no, no, no, I'm I mean it's kind
of hard.
Speaker 4 (01:03:12):
I don't have nobody else on the side, but I
do talk to other women and sleep them. Right, But
this is the crazy thing to me, though, is she
has big ass and.
Speaker 1 (01:03:25):
Where do they go?
Speaker 3 (01:03:27):
And her I mean, it feels like does something happened
to her in her past that she doesn't want to
have vaginal interpos like for them, you know, but is
there something that happened that for some reason she feels
like this is some type of tabboo? What is her
her reason for this? Is it just I'm just waiting
to tell marriage to do that?
Speaker 4 (01:03:45):
Yeah, And like when I asked her, like I said,
she just said, you know, I.
Speaker 11 (01:03:49):
Don't think we're ready for that yet.
Speaker 13 (01:03:50):
I'm like, what if we're doing the bad thing?
Speaker 11 (01:03:53):
Like what do you mean we're not ready for that?
Speaker 4 (01:03:55):
Because yeah, first, you know, not to be disrespectful or anything.
Like I said, I love her stuff, but every time
we do it, like I do you know what I'm saying,
Like you know, like the one day was with her
parents in them and you know, the night before we
(01:04:17):
did that, and her mom was like, you know, why do.
Speaker 11 (01:04:19):
You keep moving like that? And she was like, oh,
you know, I sat on something.
Speaker 3 (01:04:27):
Oh my gosh, could you see yourself marrying her?
Speaker 5 (01:04:30):
And then are you okay?
Speaker 3 (01:04:32):
Because that's the main thing here, right you guys are
doing what she wants, but not what.
Speaker 5 (01:04:37):
You want to do.
Speaker 3 (01:04:38):
So the question is, are you okay with staying in
a relationship with somebody if you're not fulfilled the way
that you want to be fulfilled physically? Or do you
feel like you're okay with continuing this way until marriage?
Speaker 2 (01:04:51):
She might be too walk down the aisle.
Speaker 5 (01:04:55):
That is the real question.
Speaker 3 (01:04:56):
Can you wait or do you feel like I'm not
doing that and I'm not satisfied, because really the ball
is in your courts.
Speaker 4 (01:05:03):
Me personally, I just can't keep doing that. Man, I've
never been in a back door Bandit none of that.
Speaker 11 (01:05:09):
You know what I'm saying. So this is crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:05:11):
I'm sorry for laughing, bro, this is crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:05:14):
Well listen, I want to say this, Brian. It's up
to you now. Can you go on like this? If
you can't, you need to tell her. Look, I'm not satisfied.
Speaker 6 (01:05:21):
You know.
Speaker 3 (01:05:21):
I understand that we're going by your rules right now,
but I have needs as well, and so if we
can't do this, then I don't know if this is
a situation I can continue to be in physically, And
are you considering marriage?
Speaker 10 (01:05:36):
The marriage thing?
Speaker 4 (01:05:37):
Like I after before?
Speaker 2 (01:05:39):
You know?
Speaker 4 (01:05:39):
She said, you know now, I'm not ready right now,
and you know I just me personally, I just can't
keep doing this if I gotta you know what I'm saying,
Like you.
Speaker 7 (01:05:49):
Gotta teller Bro, you gotta sit it down and say, look, man,
I can't keep sping you like this.
Speaker 3 (01:05:53):
You can't sit but Brian, if this is something that
is not what you want, then you need to be
both about that too and say I can't keep doing this,
so we have to figure this out.
Speaker 5 (01:06:03):
Relationships are compromised.
Speaker 3 (01:06:05):
You can't just do whatever she says and that's what matters,
and what you feel like you want doesn't matter, so
she has to respect your side as well, right right.
Speaker 4 (01:06:14):
Right, just talking to you, and I really appreciate everything
you telling me. I know what I gotta do, I.
Speaker 5 (01:06:20):
Know what I got you have to do, all right.
Speaker 3 (01:06:22):
I wish you the most luck, but remember it does
matter what you want and what your needs are too.
We never want to let you believe that it's all
about her and only what she says goes.
Speaker 17 (01:06:30):
Okay, I appreciate it all right, Thank.
Speaker 5 (01:06:33):
You, Ryan.
Speaker 3 (01:06:34):
And that was ask ye eight hundred two nine fifty
one fifty. In case you couldn't get through, you could

Speaker 3 (01:08:13):
It's way Up with Angela ye And as you guys know,
you have the last word. Eight hundred two nine to
fifty one fifty. Let's go.
Speaker 10 (01:08:20):
Hey, I want to shine a light on my friend
Theodo Rios. He's beting care of everybody. He needs some acknowledgement.
I mean, because a lot of people's doing them brow
and he still positive in his heart. That still helped out.
So I mean, you know, if you're listening, I love you.
If you already know Recu Lane Deck, this.
Speaker 17 (01:08:39):
Is me talking about the subject of what the woman
said that a woman's strength and the men's strengths. I
disagree with that. I think she's correct on what she's
trying to say, but I believe all men and all
women are different. There are a lot of men that
are more talkative than women, just like there's a lot
of more women that may be.
Speaker 1 (01:09:00):
Talkative than men.
Speaker 17 (01:09:01):
So I just think it's perst situation because in some relationships,
the women is the more aggressive person.
Speaker 11 (01:09:07):
Than the man.
Speaker 23 (01:09:08):
Hey, Angela, this is Twila from.
Speaker 13 (01:09:13):
News New Virginia.
Speaker 23 (01:09:16):
I want to shine a light on all the women
and the mothers of the world. I want to answer
that question for the guru saying that a woman is
more powerful when she is silent. I totally disagree with that.
(01:09:37):
It's how she delivers her message. I am an advocate myself,
and I feel as if our voices need to be heard,
not silent.
Speaker 9 (01:09:53):
Going way out with Angela Yee
