But again, you can always call us up eight hundred
two ninety two fifty one fifty and leave a message,
or you can actually use the talkback option if you
go on to the app and you see the little
microphone in the corner and click on that on Way
up with Angela Yee, you can leave a message there.

Speaker 4 (07:12):
So easy. It's way up at Angela Yee. Everybody since with.

Speaker 7 (07:15):
Its relationship with career Advice, Angela's dropping facts, sho should
this is as kee?

Speaker 4 (07:22):
What's up?

Speaker 2 (07:22):
Its way up at Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee. It's
time to ask ye. Eight hundred two ninety two fifty
one fifty is a number, Nikki, what's your question?

Speaker 8 (07:30):
So my question is okay, first of all, I want
to shout out out my girl on the West side
of Chicago.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Let's y'ull.

Speaker 8 (07:38):
So okay, So my question is tell me how I
should go about this?

Speaker 11 (07:42):
Right?

Speaker 8 (07:42):
So, my dad like he had a few with his homeboys.
He's like, base, I'm gonna have some of my homies day.
I'm like, okay, cool, tell me why one of the
guys walk in and like I had just linked up
with him, like about weeks before our gag with my
gas because it's new, and it's like, damn, should I
tell him that he already cracked?

Speaker 4 (08:04):
Oh wait, your dad's friend.

Speaker 8 (08:07):
My gas, my gay friend.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
Oh your godfriend?

Speaker 8 (08:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (08:12):
Like man, And so when you say your guy friend,
this is a guy you're dating.

Speaker 8 (08:19):
My man, his homeboy. His homeboy came through right okay,
And I had let I link up with him like
a week before I got with my gas, and he
kept looking and giving me the ad and I'm like, man,
I hope he don't say nothing. And it's like I
kind of want to tell my guys because but it's
like you.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Got to tell him because you know why, because if
you don't tell him, the other guy might.

Speaker 8 (08:45):
Yeah, I was thinking that. I was thinking that, but
like what if he don't like I don't want to
just like Philippins.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
Well, here's the thing. It happened before you and your
man hooked up.

Speaker 8 (08:55):
I know, but it was like it was so easy
because it was like a one night than you know.
And I don't want my dad to look at me
like that because I made him.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
Wait, I mean, look, thanks having it.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
Now that's your man and if he really cares about you,
he got to accept everything about you and even though
you know that's his friend. I just feel like it
also will make you nervous that one day it might
come out.

Speaker 8 (09:19):
Yeah, indeed, he went, oh my god.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
Keep getting Well, you don't have to get details.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
I do want to say, Nikki, you ain't got to
get the details like that.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
It was none of that. You could just be like, look,
you know we had a situation.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
I don't want to get into detail about it, but
I do know him, and I didn't want you to
hear about it from somebody else.

Speaker 8 (09:38):
Mm, you're right, I'm gonna just tell him like when
he leave his dad. Incredible.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
But if it was the other way around, right, and
he hooked up with one of your girlfriends, you would
want him to tell.

Speaker 8 (09:50):
You, Yeah, I would. It was just it's just circumstantial
because it's like I just it's embarrassment. But you're right,
I'm gonna just.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
Housewing all right, good, but let us know how it goes.
We're very curious.

Speaker 8 (10:01):
I will thank you, thank you, Nikki, bye bye bye.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
All right, Well that was asked yee, And I feel
like that's also no judgment.

Speaker 4 (10:09):
Yeah, but again, you can always call us up.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
Eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty and leave
a message, or you can actually use the talkback option
if you go on to the app and you see
the little microphone in the corner and click on that
on Way Up with Angela Yee.

Speaker 4 (10:22):
You can leave a message there. So easy. It's way
Up with Angela ye I. I you frid the Way
Up with Angela Yee? What's app this way up at
Angela Gee?

Speaker 2 (10:32):
I'm Angela Yee and I'm really excited to have some
special guests here today with me from Prudential.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
All right, so let's go around the room.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
We have Shanay Harris Hello, we have Gail Hawkins Hello,
and we have are.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
You John Garrison?

Speaker 6 (10:46):
I was like, what do they have? John?

Speaker 9 (10:48):
I was like.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
All right, Brian, Well, thank you guys for joining us today.
So what we're talking about is the Brick City Classic
and Prudentials involvement with that and also with HBUs in general.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
All right, so did all of you go to HBCU.

Speaker 10 (11:04):
I'm a proud graduate of Hampton On University class of
ninety four.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
Okay, great, I'm anna have the grad as well.

Speaker 12 (11:10):
She's gonna drop out that over eight. I'm Onnest two
class of ninety three. Hampton alumb as well.

Speaker 4 (11:15):
Such Shanay and I did not go to HBCUs.

Speaker 12 (11:17):
We missed out, you.

Speaker 4 (11:18):
Know, we definitely did.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
And I was actually reading a report recently about how
enrollment is up more than ever and attention being paid
to HBCUs is at an all time high.

Speaker 10 (11:28):
Excellent.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
So let's talk about that Brig City Classic because that's
happening this weekend.

Speaker 4 (11:31):
Yes, yeah, yes, yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
And what is Prudential's involvement? What's the brig City Classic?
Let's talk about who's playing.

Speaker 12 (11:37):
I was on the team that brought the game back,
and I think it was important for us when we
brought the classic. We wanted to re establish the Northeast
as one of the meccas of Black college football. Years ago,
there was the Whitniam Young Classic that took place at
Giant Stadium and it started with Grambling. And so when
we brought this back, we said, what are two iconic
programs that have a presence in the Northeast and why

(11:58):
not bring Grambling? And obviously we talked about Hampton so
much love earlier, but program and Hampton used to play
here every year. The game stopped in about twenty fifteen,
and we said Okay, it's time to bring it back.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
And it's not just the big city classic. Predentia does
a lot for HBCUs. How can people find out information
if they're like, okay, what about opportunities at Predentia. I
know you guys had a micro grant program.

Speaker 11 (12:21):
You know, when we talk about you know, the work
that we're doing, we really focus on helping people to
build wealth, yes, build assets, and really connecting access to
quality employment to actually wealth building strategies. We want more people,
particularly in the black community, to have access to tools
and solutions that help them build wealth.

Speaker 4 (12:41):
I said Robert F. Smith.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
I believe he had announced something I think last year
that he was doing as fireus helping HBCU students with investing.

Speaker 11 (12:50):
Absolutely, we were really proud to partner with his organization,
a Student Freedom Initiative, to provide five hundred HBCUs toudens
with opportunities to learn about investments. Prudential provided some seed
funding to allow them to start really building that skill
of investing and also helping them to build wealth. And

(13:11):
we did that partnership with stock Wealth.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
And I think that's important too because I remember believing
once I graduated from college and I had all these
student loans that I couldn't invest right because I had
bills I needed to take care of, I had to
live day to day. I had to pay my rent,
and I had to pay my student loans. And it
wasn't until later when I was probably about like almost thirty,
that I finally started my own investment fund. And I

(13:35):
feel like if I would have had the opportunity to
have that earlier and see my money, girl, I would
have felt more confident in being able to invest and
also educate myself more what it is that I needed
to do, But no one had ever discussed that with me.

Speaker 10 (13:47):
Sure Again, my name is a Gail Hawk, and I'm
a financial advisor with Prudential. I like to work with
the individuals coming right out of college, so I work
with people that are starting off in their financial questioning
or what they should do short term, midterm, and long term.
But then also work with experienced individuals that are highly
seasoned dealing with retirement planning, blending of families. So that's

(14:09):
something that is very interesting when I'm talking with clients.
I will say ninety percent of my book of businesses women,
but that's growing.

Speaker 4 (14:16):
But I have a.

Speaker 10 (14:17):
Targeted market because currently right now in here in the
United States, but also globally, more women are making more money,
but we also have financial decision making that we're doing,
and we have to be more serious.

Speaker 6 (14:29):
You know.

Speaker 11 (14:29):
One of the things that we're excited to announce and
introduce to the community is a new campaign called Blueprints
to Black Wealth.

Speaker 4 (14:37):
Okay. It is really.

Speaker 11 (14:38):
Focused on making that connection point because there is so
much information out there that people just need to be
connected to and also to understand that this is attainable
for everyone, sure, particularly if we start earlier. So we
have provided resources and support every thing from you know,

(15:01):
meeting you where you are on your financial journey. So
if you're just getting started, there's information and connections that
we can connect in terms of resources there too. You know,
as you're on your journey and you have more needs
and more complexity, and the idea of being able to
connect to a financial professional to support you, we think

(15:23):
is a really critical thing for the black community, right.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
I mean that confidence is important too, because money isn't
like our attachment to money can be a very emotional thing.

Speaker 6 (15:32):
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
I know from many of my friends and myself, we
didn't have money growing up, and so you always feel like,
I just got to stack my money in the bank.
I got to just do this. I got to make
sure in case something happens, this could all go away.
And we get so nervous about things like that that
sometimes it's scary to invest.

Speaker 10 (15:48):
I always say that money is not a tangible good
if you cannot be put to use. It's just a
piece of paper. It's the thought process behind it. It's
the planning short term, mid term, and long term.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
All right, anybody have any predictions on the game.

Speaker 12 (16:01):
I'm gonna say, Anton thirty four, Gramblin thirty one.

Speaker 4 (16:04):
Okay, you think you're an athlete, and we're looking at you.

Speaker 12 (16:11):
I'm gonna say Ampton thirty four, Gramlin thirty one.

Speaker 10 (16:13):
Okay. What about the Battle of the bands?

Speaker 4 (16:21):
That's a whole nother. That's the battle, Yes, the Battle
of the band. That's vibe and let me tell you,
and that everyone's a winner. Yea, yeah, that's true.

Speaker 12 (16:30):
Absolutely, And the full halftime show will be broadcast as well.
Both bands will get their just excellent Saturday excellent.

Speaker 4 (16:38):
Where can people watch? And where can people get tickets?

Speaker 6 (16:40):
All right?

Speaker 12 (16:41):
So to watch the game, it could be on the
NFL Network this Saturday, wherever the NFL Network is on
your local broadcast, it's at three pm. Kickoff tickets at
Brick Cityclassic.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
Dot com and you guys can come out and tail
gate two because you know that's part of it, absolutely
gates opening nine a m. All right, well, thank you
again to Prudential, to Shine Harris, to Go Hawkins, to
Brian Taylor. Make sure y'all go to Brick Cityclassic dot
com to get your tickets.

Speaker 4 (17:04):
