Speaker 1 (00:01):
You are now Angela what I call her Yee way.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Up with Angela Yea. I'm Angela Yee and Mano is here.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
Yeah we got so yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:22):
Yeah, man I gotta leave my house at five o'clock
in the morning.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
Sometimes that's gonna be me too. You know, traffic at
this time is so different. It's a rush hour.
Speaker 4 (00:31):
Sometimes it's cool old so I'm coming from Jersey. Sometimes,
you know, I like I like to leave like maybe
like about it nine most of at least thirty forty minutes.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
But you never know what that traffics like today is
nine to eleven two yes, by the way, So it's
always a very somber day when you remember what nine
to eleven represents. And the weekend was very active. First
of all, Cocoa Golf. Let's give it up for her immediately.
I know we're going to talk about that this morning
when I tell you I was emotional watching her win
(01:03):
the US Open, big deal and everything that you had
to say.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
We'll have more on that shortly. Also NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
Yeah, you know Sundays I saw Michael Irving has returned
and settled his defamation lawsuits, so he's back on the
NFL network.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
To kick off the season, so that's a big deal too.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
I saw Mayo somehow got involved in some things this
weekend and the relatively but.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
I'm talking about I.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
We'll talk about it in a second, all right, because
there was morguments going on online and somehow you got
tossed your face got tossed in it some way somehow.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
But yeah, so you know, a lot of things to
talk about.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
And this weekend, I actually stayed in New York and
you know, it is fashion meet, like I said, so
I want to shout out to an amazing artist, Michelin,
and her art show was opening over the weekend, so
I went to her art show opening. So that was
dope to be able to do that. And Happy birthday
to my friend Chay, she's my childhood friend.
Speaker 5 (02:00):
Happy birthday.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
It was her birthday. Virgo Yes, so I went to her.
A lot of virgos around me.
Speaker 5 (02:05):
We're the greatest.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
So I went to her birthday dinner.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
So shout out to Melissa at Nagrill Gunna had a
show in Brooklyn over the weekend, his first ever since everything's.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Happened with Young Thug.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
And we'll discuss that too, because the rest of our
I was at Kevin Lowles was there and if you
know Kevin Loles, he was on his way to go
to Gunner's show right at the Barclays. So we'll discuss
some behind the scenes things, but in the meantime, let's
start this show off right.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Hurricane Chris is going to be joining us today. Now.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
You know he he earlier this year beat a second
degree murder charge.
Speaker 5 (02:38):
Right, he's sewing or something right.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
And he's talking about suing.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
So he's gonna tell us everything that happened in his
own words and all the opportunities that he lost and
why he's suing the police department, and also shine a
light on him.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
That's how we always start the show with some positivity.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
Eight nine d two and nine two fifty one fifty
isn't I'm gona call us up shine a light on him.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
It's a way up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 6 (03:02):
Turn your lights on, y'all. It's spreading love to those
who are doing greatness.
Speaker 7 (03:06):
Shine the light on. It's time to shine a light
on them.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Yes, it's way up at Angela Yee.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
I'm Angela Yee and Mana was here with me, and
man it's nine to eleven and you just shared something
with me that you're doing to help.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
Yeah, so we dropped like this kind of this poem thing,
my letter to letter to my city, and you know,
we uh set up a fund for the nine to
eleven Tribute Museum. So we dedicated and send it all
the money. It's like a fundraiser to them for the
victims of nine to eleven.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
All right, now, so people can go on your page
to see.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
Yeah, well we we put it on YouTube. We ain't
even put it on my pageya. It should be going
up on my page maybe like ten minutes.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Okay, all right, well let's make sure that people know
about that, because I think that's amazing.
Speaker 5 (03:51):
Yeah, definitely. I mean I don't. I don't think we
should ever forget.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
No.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
You know, my dad over the weekend he sent his
ID to me.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
He used to work at the World Trade Center, so
he's still no it was right, he had just stopped
working there, so you know when that happened. But he
has his little World Trade Center ID. So that was
something that even when I woke up, I was like,
oh my god, like wow, I didn't know, Oh my gosh,
do I remember somebody called me and woke me up
and was like, oh my god, turned the news on.
(04:17):
That was after the first tower got hit, right, And
then while I was watching the news.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
They write in action, live action, Yeah, And.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
I didn't think it was real, Like I was like,
this can't be. I don't understand right.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
I thought the first one was like a mistake, but
then it was like that second one right when the
news correspondent was talking.
Speaker 5 (04:36):
It was just it was crazy.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
And at that time, I was living in Jersey City
and a lot of people couldn't get through the Highland
Tunnel because that's right where the World Trade Center was.
So people were coming to my house because they were
like they didn't know what was going on, and they
were like the tunnels closed.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
And it was a different day and age.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
We didn't have social media, so some people didn't know
what was happening right away.
Speaker 5 (04:55):
Without social media, so you had to get everything from
the TV to.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
Watch the TV.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
All right, Well, eight hundred two ninet two fifty one
fifty is a number. Who do you guys want to
shine a light on?
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Tasha? How are you, Amada? How you doing I'm good?
Thank you? How you doing doing well?
Speaker 8 (05:10):

Speaker 5 (05:11):

Speaker 3 (05:12):
Ooh, I like how he said that different energy from Mayno. Yeah,
I mean you know, now, who do you want to
shine a light?
Speaker 9 (05:21):
Right?
Speaker 8 (05:22):
I want to try a light on my younger brother,
Robert Peeples known as Robert Amethyst on TikTok. He's the best.
He puts smiles on everyone's facing and he's constantly being
told back. He like takes these retro videos like from
the eighties and which he loved all errors, but right
now he's working on the eighties. I like he does
his own costumes. He has, like you know, just all
(05:45):
these videos. You have got to follow him, like I
want everyone to follow him, all.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Right, that's dope thinking that her younger man.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
I want you to follow my god. Nick Navy Sell
he do his own costumes too, Like right now he
has a fish net costume war right now, So Nick
Navy Seal, he's a resident DJA.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
Shout out to your younger brother.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
But I do appreciate when people put out this content
that's so interesting and they put a lot of effort
into it.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
That's a skill, So shout out to him.
Speaker 8 (06:09):
It's a skill. He does it hisself, his own videos.
He's all the characters that he's playing these videos. He's
been recognized by Sheila East and so go and check
him out. Robert Amateurs.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
Okay, thank you so much for calling and putting us up.
Speaker 8 (06:26):
Thank you so much for listening.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
Love y'all, Love you too. Antonio. Okay, what's up? Antonio?
Who you want to shine a light on?
Speaker 8 (06:42):
My self?
Speaker 4 (06:43):
Okay?
Speaker 10 (06:44):
Because I made it to see another year.
Speaker 5 (06:47):
That's right?
Speaker 2 (06:48):
Is it your birthday?
Speaker 11 (06:49):
Yesterday?
Speaker 4 (06:50):
Is another lap around the sun? Happy birthday to you, brother.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
You know what, We're gonna do a shot for you today, Virgo, Yes, virgo,
that's right.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
What's your what's your drinking choice day?
Speaker 7 (07:02):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (07:03):
Do say do say?
Speaker 3 (07:04):
Okay, well, Antonio, happy birthday.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
Well that was shining light on I'm eight hundred and
two nine two fifty one fifty just in case you
couldn't get through. And of course when we come back,
we have your yet all the things we discussed, Michael Irvin,
returning to the NFL network, Cocoa God, winning the US Open.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
When we come back, it's a way up at Angela. Yee.
Speaker 7 (07:25):
This isof in.
Speaker 6 (07:26):
The rooms from industry shade.
Speaker 7 (07:28):
To all the gossip out send. Angela's spiling that EyeT.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
It's way up and Angela yee. I'm Angela yee. And
Mano is here.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
Now, man let's go, let's get into some yet, Michael
Irving has returned to the NFL Network. If you guys recall,
all of this happened back in a hotel lobby in
Arizona in February. He was accused of making looten inappropriate
comments to a female employee at that Marryott Well. He
has filed a one hundred million dollar lawsuit against Maria
(07:57):
and six others for defamation and tortuous interference. And he
has been reinstated. Okay, so he's been reinstated. He will
be a part of the NFL network's coverage of the
twenty twenty three season. According to the NFL Media vice
President of Communication, that video of the encounter that he
had with the woman was released in March, and Marriott
(08:18):
did try to prevent its.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
Release of that video.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
He was seeing shaking hands with the women, touched their
arm twice, and then they parted ways after about a
two minute encounter. Now, Michael Urban has denied allegations against him.
He said he was baffled by everything he did. Say
you've been drinking earlier that night at dinner and didn't
remember the details of the conversation, but.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
He said that it couldn't have been anything that happened.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
They were never any criminals, right, there were never any
criminal charges. But imagine he thought he was going to
be covering the Super Bowl and they pulled.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
Him off the air.
Speaker 5 (08:49):
Yeah, yeah, all.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
Right, So now he's back.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
Now we don't know the terms of the settlement, but
we do know there was some type of settlement.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
Wow, So why would do Marriott say that?
Speaker 3 (08:59):
Why would they say what he did all that? Well,
the woman said it, the woman, so they definitely were. Yeah,
so there you have it, all right. Drew Barrymore, her
new season of her syndicated daytime show is going to
be launching on September eighteen, Season.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Four of The Drew Barrymore Show.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
But I actually walked past her because it's right down
the block from where we are, and they're outside on
strike right now, because you know, it's the Writers Guild
of America and SAG after on strike, so a lot of.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
People aren't working.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
You know what, though, you were on the season premiere
of tammeran Hall week and they're back at work.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Were they protesting outside.
Speaker 4 (09:35):
No, I haven't. I've never seen it, seen it only
in pitches.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
What the protests rot tests, Yeah, I walked past there.
So the thing is she does use union writers, but
she's not going to use writers right now for her show.
And Drew Barrymore said, I'm also making the choice to
come back for the first time in the strike for
our show that may have my name on it, but
this is bigger than just me. We are incompliance with
not discussing our promoting film and television that is struck
(09:59):
of any kind. We launched live in a global pandemic.
Our show was built for sensitive times and has only
functioned through what the real world is going through in
real time. So she's feeling like this is a time
that she needs to be on television because it is
a difficult time and she's in compliance, all right. Berna
Boy is not happy with his new contract. Apparently he
(10:21):
went on social media and said, but the numbers I'm
seeing on this contract, these next years of my life
are about to really show if I really love doing music.
God must really want to test my love for music.
Just my bounce on y'all, like Rihanna, So not sure
what those terms.
Speaker 5 (10:37):
Rockie contract are looking.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
Like but Atlantic. It used to be signed in Atlantic, right,
why'd you laugh like that?
Speaker 5 (10:46):
I was just funny. I just thought it was.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
Funny, all right, Cocoa Golf. Her US Open victory was huge.
People were celebrating all across the United States. I said,
there were a lot of celebrities. It was packed when
she won. And after she won, she actually just kind
of laid down on the ground. She said she was
just glad that it was over. You know, her dad was,
(11:09):
her whole family was there. She was actually on the
Today Show just a little while ago, and here's what
she had to say.
Speaker 12 (11:16):
And I'm think it digest Like even last night, I
was telling myself, you're Grand Slam champion, and I'm like,
it doesn't feel real at all.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
So many beautiful moments. I think a lot of people wept.
Speaker 13 (11:25):
When you got down on your knees a couple of
times and you're clearly saying a prayer.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
What were you saying in that moment?
Speaker 12 (11:31):
I was just saying thank you, And I understood, like
all the tough times were just to make that moment
even sweeter. I think if it came easy, it wouldn't
be I wouldn't feel as appreciative as I did in
that moment.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
Clearly nineteen years old a right, the youngest since Serena Williams.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
An amazing to witness that.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
She also, after she won the match, talked about her
dad being in the stands.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
Thank you first to my parents.
Speaker 12 (11:59):
Today was a first time I've ever seen my dad cry.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
He doesn't want me to tell you all that, but
he got.
Speaker 7 (12:06):
Caught in four K.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
It was really cute.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
Yeah, you saw him like, no, stop, don't.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
Say that, but shout out to her, Shout out to
everybody who was there to witness that history.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
Okay, and that is your yea tee. And you know
what was amazing.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
They showed her at nine years old at the US
Open in the stands dancing and singing to call me maybe.
And here she is now winning winning the US Opens.
All right, when we come back, we have about last night.
That's where we discussed what we did last night. Like
we said, it was a very active weekend. It's way
up with Angela Yee about last night next last night?
Speaker 7 (12:40):
So about last.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
Night last night, last night.
Speaker 7 (12:44):
Za went down.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
Yes, it is way up with Angela Yee. I'm Angela
Yee and Mana was here.
Speaker 4 (12:49):
Yes morning and about last night.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
That's where we discussed the things that went down last night.
Over the weekend, like I said, was a crazy weekend.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
What'd you do fashion week? I was all, my cap on,
who you saved? I'm saving the city, baby, you know,
I'm just outside. I went to a couple of events
and shows, just moving around a little bit, you know,
had a time.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
Okay, major, all right.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
Well, over the weekend, I went to an art show
for Micheleen Thomas. She's an amazing artist. Y'all make sure
you follow her, Micheleen Thomas. I went to the opening
of that, so you'll be able to check that out
in New York if you happen to be in this area.
The other thing that I have to do this weekend
I had to fire somebody and I am.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
Not good at that.
Speaker 5 (13:36):
Wow, how did you do it?
Speaker 2 (13:38):
Well?
Speaker 5 (13:40):
Did you do it by text? Or did you do
it by.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
I did it by What's app? And by email?
Speaker 7 (13:45):
What's that?
Speaker 2 (13:46):
Because you have to document that too.
Speaker 14 (13:47):
Did you use it?
Speaker 5 (13:48):
Did you use the word fire?
Speaker 2 (13:50):
I said terminate fire?
Speaker 3 (13:52):
I was like, you know, I'd like to terminate our
I am terminating our agreement. Here's the thing, and for me,
it's like, you know, I've been doing some real estate things,
so I hired somebody who I thought would be beneficial
in that area. And it was a nightmare, and I
really like kind of kept trying to go with it
and work with this person.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
Yeah, but your inside and your gut was telling you this,
but sometimes.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
You also feel like, well we're halfway there, so let
me just push through. We started working together. Do I
want to start all over with a different person?
Speaker 2 (14:24):
Maybe?
Speaker 3 (14:25):
And I just couldn't take it anymore. And I finally
was like, I can't do this. You are fought because
I also never want to feel like I'm stuck working
with somebody who I don't want to work with. That
is the worst feeling. When you're like, I'm paying you
for a service. And I'm the type of person I
never want to say i'm paying you you work for me.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
I'm never going to say that.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
But at one point I had to be like, you
know you're not doing me a favor, right right, I'm
paying you for a service. Why are you treating me
like you're doing me a favor? Like just kind of
speaking to me disrespectfully.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
Everybody around me.
Speaker 3 (14:58):
Was like, Yo, this guy is ridiculous, and so I
finally had to say I gave it a shot. The
only thing I'm concerned about is, you know, when you
hire somebody, you have to leave a deposit for their services.
I want my deposit back because you've been paid everything
you're supposed to be paid.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
I've gotten nothing from you.
Speaker 4 (15:14):
We're gonna get it back because we don't negotiate with disrespect.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
So I just want to get my deposit back. I
could already tell he's the type of person that's.
Speaker 4 (15:20):
Going to be you know, it's gonna be difficult.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
Not trying to do it, and so I can already
sense that. But when I tell you, I was like,
because I'm a very easy person to work with, like,
I'll give you your leeway.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
I never am not going to pay you what you're
supposed to be paid.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
I've never had issues with that, but this person was
definitely taking advantage. Every time it was time to do something,
he would try to like, oh, he wouldn't even answer
the phone if I call, he won't answer the phone.
And I'm like, but he was good at first, and
then things just went downhill. So I was like, I
just I can't I don't want to have to.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
Work with somebody. It's unpleasant. Have you read to fire anybody.
Speaker 14 (15:58):
All the time?
Speaker 5 (16:00):
All the time, you all terminate.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
I'm not good at it, like I just I don't
like I am the feeling of having to do that.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
So you know it's extreme.
Speaker 4 (16:08):
You should you should have let me send a voice
voice note over there. Listen, I'm not going to get
it my man. Pack up, pack it up, pack it up,
pack it up, pack it for you.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
But honestly, it was just delaying my project so much
that it was too much of a It was just
trusting me money and listen, I was just asking for
a I was like, what is the date that you'll
have this ready?
Speaker 2 (16:27):
He would not give me an answer. It was a nightmare. Yeah,
all right, well that is about last night.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
Now when we come back, not only is Monday mainnovation money,
but it's a no.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
Tell us a secret.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
That's where you guys call us eight hundred two nine
two fifty one fifty is the number. Call us up
and let us know a secret. We want to hear
whatever little secret. Now, it could be a good secret.
Maybe you're planning to propose. Maybe it's a bad secret.
Maybe it's just something you've never told anybody, but you
want to put it out there.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
It could something funny.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
Call us up.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
Eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty. It's no
judgment at all. Sure on our part, it's way up
with Angela yee.
Speaker 7 (17:09):
This is a judgment. Freeze on. Tell us a secret.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
What's up as way up at Angela yee? I'm Angela yee,
and Mano is here.
Speaker 4 (17:17):
Good morning.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
This is perfect right now, tell us a secret, because
there's all kinds of secrets flying around.
Speaker 5 (17:22):
A secret.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
Mano's upset because he asked me how I would describe
him to somebody, if somebody was gonna deal with him,
and I was, yeah, go have fun, but don't take
him seriously.
Speaker 4 (17:30):
And that's that's very sad. Yeah, I am upset because
I wouldn't think that you will say that, because look
at me.
Speaker 5 (17:36):
I'm very I could be taken seriously.
Speaker 4 (17:39):
Look at me.
Speaker 5 (17:40):
I can be taken seriously. Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
You could tell when you just look at somebody and
don't say anything and they keep talking.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
They know they're lying. You say no, they're lying. Anyway.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
Eight hundred fifty one fifty is a number if you
want to tell us a secret. We got plenty of them,
all right, and we're gonna keep your secrets safe with us.
Eight hundred two nine fifty fifty is a number. Call
us up, tell us a secret, anonymous color.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
How are you hi, I'm good?
Speaker 1 (18:07):
How are you?
Speaker 2 (18:08):
I'm good? Thank you? You want to tell us a secret?
Speaker 8 (18:11):
Yeah? Okay, I had this ex that seated on me.
Speaker 15 (18:15):
So much, and I paid the biggest victim ever. And
it's like I was cheating on him the whole time.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
You was cheating on him. Did that person you were
cheating with did he know you had a man?
Speaker 9 (18:28):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (18:29):
Okay, so he was just quiet about it.
Speaker 4 (18:31):
Yeah, so was you? Was you hot? Was you angry
at him for cheating on you?
Speaker 8 (18:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (18:37):
I say, the real big victim. I made a scene
out a crying, but.
Speaker 4 (18:42):
You was cheating the whole time though.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
She just didn't get caught.
Speaker 4 (18:45):
Yeah, oh wow, But.
Speaker 7 (18:46):
I didn't get caught.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
But I didn't count. It didn't count. It never happened.
Speaker 4 (18:50):
Also, you know what.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
I'm telling these guys, man, Yeah, I don't.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
Yeah, you think you're getting away with something and anything
that you're doing, you better think than maybe she he.
Speaker 9 (19:00):
Had the one up on me.
Speaker 4 (19:02):
So you you probably was cheating first.
Speaker 15 (19:05):
Now, he was definitely cheating first, But after I found
out he was cheating on me, I didn't feel bad.
Speaker 16 (19:10):
For doing him.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
Was your cheating on Was you cheating on him with
somebody he knew? No, Okay, that's okay.
Speaker 3 (19:16):
Did you actually like this other guy? Were you cheating
with one person or multiple people just for.
Speaker 9 (19:20):
One another person?
Speaker 14 (19:21):
And I did?
Speaker 4 (19:22):
I was liking the other guy.
Speaker 14 (19:24):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
That's why when when a girl is cheating on you,
and at first she'll be mad if she finds out
that you're cheating on her, but then as soon as
she's not mad no more, and she just letting.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
You really sneaky, sneaky, then.
Speaker 10 (19:37):
Yeah, I would say I was being really sneaky.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
All right, But thank you for sharing anonymous color. And
she's never gonna tell, and I'm never gonna tell. Now
what's that anonymous color?
Speaker 2 (19:49):
How are you? I'm good, I'm good. Thank you? You
want to tell me a mano a secret? No judgment.
Speaker 16 (19:56):
So I left a very bad relationship.
Speaker 9 (19:58):
I mentally checked out months before finally left about a
month and a half half ago. The guy that my
ex thought that I was scooting on him, with which
I was always faithful in the are now talking and
I tried it out not too long ago, and I'm
excited like something new and it's going really good.
Speaker 4 (20:13):
So the guy that he thought you was cheating on
him with, but you wasn't cheating, not my new man.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
Oh so he kind of wieled it into existence for you. Yeah, exactly, like,
thank you very much.
Speaker 4 (20:25):
And the thing what one man want another man? So
was that somebody he knew?
Speaker 9 (20:29):
No, it was somebody I used to go to school with.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
But y'all liked each other though, Yes, and he was
jealous of that exactly all right.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
I mean you didn't do anything wrong, No, not at all.
Speaker 9 (20:41):
I was on a horrible relationship.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
So yeah, I'm glad you added that and in a
great one.
Speaker 4 (20:45):
Now was.
Speaker 2 (20:50):
It with me? Thank you?
Speaker 4 (20:55):
Thank you? Hey?
Speaker 2 (20:56):
And Adams Calor, how are you okay?
Speaker 10 (20:59):
How are you good?
Speaker 2 (21:00):
Thank you? You want to tell us a secret? No judgment?
Speaker 15 (21:03):
Yes, So my figure is I went to college, but
I didn't finish.
Speaker 16 (21:07):
I told everyone that I did finish, and I just
didn't full I graduated. I told everybody that I graduated,
and after that, I put it on my resume and
I got a job in the field that I didn't
finish college. Here, I just said that I got the degree.
And now I'm one of the high say people at.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
My job, you know what I always wanted to do.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
They check like when you say you went to a
college right and graduated.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
I feel like they don't really check.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
Resident And I took my shot. Yeah you did.
Speaker 5 (21:42):
You did the right thing.
Speaker 4 (21:44):
Take your shot.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
All right, Well I.
Speaker 16 (21:46):
Started, I got it.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
I'm not mad. Listen, I'm not gonna I'm not mad
at it.
Speaker 15 (21:51):
Okay, thank you, thank you?
Speaker 2 (21:54):
All right, Well that was tell us a secret.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
And in case you couldn't get through, the number is
eight hundred nine fifty fifty. Always leave a message for
us and we'll play it at the end of the show.
And when we come back, we have Yee te Let's
talk about Tink and hit Maker and somehow Mano got involved,
but we'll discuss.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
It's way up at Handela yee shure, she's about.
Speaker 7 (22:12):
To blow the lead off this spot.
Speaker 14 (22:13):
Let's get it.
Speaker 6 (22:14):
Angelus feeling that yea te Come and get the tea.
Speaker 3 (22:18):
It's way up at Angela yee, Angela yee, and Mano
is here, yes, and let's get.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
Into some yet all right, Oh, I don't get all right.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
Well, listen, this could end up like this hit Maker
and Tink Apparently the two of them were dating.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
And I did know this too, by the way.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
I was in Chicago and she had an album uh
listening dinner and they actually gave her her plaque right
from the label, and it was her and young Berg
at the dinner.
Speaker 2 (22:46):
They were clearly together.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
She also came and did lip service with hip Maker
and here's what they said about dating on there. So
we saw that, you guys, confirm that your inner relationship
is that you are false.
Speaker 17 (23:00):
No, I don't think we confirmed that ever.
Speaker 11 (23:02):
Me and Tink like we like this.
Speaker 7 (23:04):
We're best friends.
Speaker 11 (23:05):
We do everything together, we talk about everything together, talk
on phone, file was and we got a real personal
relationship that's bigger than a business as well. And I
think that our personal relationship feeds into the business.
Speaker 7 (23:16):
So you know what I'm saying, But I don't.
Speaker 11 (23:18):
I just think that he just lies super close and
locked in for really all right.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
This is from over a year ago, in August of
last year, where they came on lip Service together and
it was a cute interview, all right, But things did
not end well. Apparently the two of them have broken up.
Now they both happened to be in CanCon at the
same time. She said she was out there and she
was at a restaurant, and I guess she hadn't spoken
to him in.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
Months, So they just happened to be insane.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
In the same country restaurant, right in the same restaurant,
and apparently she was there. She had been on vacation.
He also, by the way, is executive producer for her music,
and so that makes it a little bit difficult because
we don't have to maintain this working relationship and work together.
So here's what she has to say about getting into
(24:05):
an altercation with hit Maker after they ran into each
other at this restaurant in Cancun.
Speaker 17 (24:11):
Hit Maker, you foul and if you think to put
the video out of me in the car, you know,
just understand, I'm gonna have to let I'm gonna have
to let the clip go, and everybody's gonna get exposed
because I know how you've been planning, and I've been
holding a ranting for you, and if I got to
get physical, that's what I gotta do. Then I had
a moment in that car where I had to get
physical because I have I have to defend myself and Christian.
(24:32):
When you see this, just understand your foul. This ain't
nothing new. I just have to express it because it
may drop, it may leave.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
All right.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
So apparently afterwards she went to go speak to him
to say how he ignored her, and then outside the
restaurant she approached him in the car and he proceeded
to continue to ignore her.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
And here's what he had to say about everything.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
Because I guess he was filming her while she was
beating putting hands on him.
Speaker 2 (24:58):
We have not seen this footage. He has no put
it out as yet.
Speaker 3 (25:01):
And she has said that yes, she did do that,
and that is out of character for her, and she
knows that that wasn't right. But it's what happened. Here's
what Here's what he said.
Speaker 11 (25:10):
We love each other. We're going through a breakup. I'm
in Cancun. We happen to be in the same place
as I'm walking out of the place.
Speaker 14 (25:19):
I'm getting in my car, and.
Speaker 11 (25:20):
They're like, young bird, young bird. Now mind you she
playing on me because I'm with a bunch of girls.
I went and proceeded in getting my car. She opened
the car and put her hands on me. I don't
like how y'all trying to like change the narrative, like
she went and said something and said it was a
physical altercation because she know I got the footage of
(25:41):
her putting her hands on me.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
All right now.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
She has since responded to that and talked a lot
about things that were going on behind the scenes. And
by the way, when this was posted on the blogs,
so he left a comment. He added Mickey haw said
that's her manager and said, y'all are paid soon by October.
This is what m said in the comments, and here's
what she said.
Speaker 17 (26:03):
We've been dating for a long time. I've been silent
about a lot of the things that I go through
behind the scenes, and this situation is the build up
of things. It's number one him asking me for money
two million dollars. Number two of him being upset that
I want to create from my own force. And like
I say, last night, I know that I made a
mistake putting my hands on somebody. I said that, I
know that he's dating other women. I had no problem
(26:26):
with that because you're not dating me right now. The
least I wanted was respect to the to the women
are saying that y'all going to war over he eats
my from garudo to the turdo.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
Oh wow, oh okay, all right, well she also posted
this generation so dam pitiful, unique guidance, let's post investments properties,
LLC's titles, GPA's credit score, certificates and degrees, don't let
a coach flight, gash, you're talking crazy from a local
bar and grill m okay, so she must be And
this is very out of character for take. I have
(26:57):
to say, like, you don't want to and it's hurt
and it's terrible because it's not just a breakup like
from dating. It's also a relationship working Yeah, a working
relationship breakup too, and those things when you intertwine business
and personal.
Speaker 5 (27:16):
It always goes bad.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
It has the potential to go worse than anything.
Speaker 4 (27:21):
I know very much about that.
Speaker 3 (27:23):
No, may no, all right. Gunna was at the Barclays
Center over the weekend. It's his first show since he
was released from jail, and people were concerned. First, he
put out the album Right Test the Waters got a
great response.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
Putting out new music he did, and then he.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
Went ahead and did his show, a headlining show at
the Barclay Center and the stadium was packed. Okay, let
me tell you it was credit and he did. If
you mean they went crazy over that.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
I saw.
Speaker 3 (27:52):
He also had a tribute to Young Thug. He pushed
Free Jeffrey up on the screen performed. People were going
crazy for that. So you know, it looks like Gonna
can go ahead and now plan a tour because people
do want to see him.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
He's in shape. We see that too.
Speaker 3 (28:07):
He's been working out and he's still supporting Young Thug,
so he does consider himself aligned with Young Thug. Not
sure what Young Thug's response would be to any of this,
but I think when he eats Young Douggie too, right,
I think.
Speaker 5 (28:19):
I think I want to hear what has to say
about it?
Speaker 4 (28:23):
Well, you know him, Yeah, definitely, so I want to
I want I'm anxious to see what what he has
to say.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
All right, Well, he does have another show.
Speaker 3 (28:31):
Gonna has another show schedule in LA for later this month,
so it looks like he's trying to see is this viable?
Speaker 2 (28:36):
And it's looking viable.
Speaker 4 (28:38):
All right.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
Well, that is your yet, and when we come back,
we have under the radar. These are the stories that
are not necessarily in the headlines. They are flying to
the radar. It's way you put Angela ye.
Speaker 6 (28:47):
The news news. This in the news that relates to you.
These stories are flying under the radar.
Speaker 3 (28:53):
Yes, it's the way you put Angela Yee. I'm Angela
Yee and Maino is here. Yes, and let's get into
some under the radar stories. Now, Black Twitter is upset
about this viral video. It's an Asian fraternity called Tao
Kappa Omega and they're strolling. They're strolling to kiss me
More by Doja Cat and Siza. They're saying, this is
(29:14):
cultural appropriation. Now this had me do and you know
what strolling is.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
The dance is at.
Speaker 3 (29:21):
Yeah, stepping and so anyway, I did a deep die
about strolling. I walk through the culture and divine nine.
Greek life it's a cultural tradition for black sororities and
fraternities that's practiced at universities all across the United States.
It was first introduced to Greek life in the early
nineteen hundreds by sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha and the national
(29:42):
the NPHC. And so that form of dance is heavily
influenced by South African culture. And it was originally used
to show pride and unity in a time of racism
and segregation. And so they're upset because they feel like
this is something that black people do when it's cultural
approp creation and people are taking this now. So I
did see what this Tau Kappa Omega members are doing
(30:08):
this stroll.
Speaker 2 (30:09):
It's nowhere near like when you see you.
Speaker 4 (30:11):
Know, it's not like ostrols.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
Yeah, not at all.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
And there are two black men and some other men
of color also among the members of Tao Kappa Omega,
and so people have mixed feelings about this.
Speaker 4 (30:26):
They feel like they shouldn't be doing it. You think, so, No,
that's how they.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
Feel, right, Some people feel like they should not be
doing it, and it's a One person said, I'm sick
of it. I'm sick of our culture being used for
likes and social media engagements when none of these cultures
like us at all.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
It's sickening. One person said.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
You know what, though, I think with fraternities and sororities,
I never pledged. And actually in my college it wasn't
like a really big deal. There was a couple of
ak's and deltas.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
And q you never wanted to be part of that.
Speaker 3 (30:56):
I think in my school it wasn't something that's a
p WI, so, you know, but I can understand the
importance of it because I've seen how it's benefited people
as having like a brotherhood or a sisterhood no matter
where you go, having people to have your back when
it comes to finding a job, when it comes to
family moving around from city to city, always knowing you
can call up your sisters or your brothers and no people, right.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
And so I get that.
Speaker 3 (31:23):
So it's an interesting conversation to say the least, you know.
Speaker 4 (31:27):
I mean, if you're outside of it, like me, it
doesn't affect me, right, I wouldn't really have an opinion
about it, But I understand if that's your lifestyle, that's
your culture, you may be a little bit.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
Offended by that, right, Remember how mad they were about
on Insecure when they had on the letter sweater and
it was a big deal because it's like, you're not
part of that security.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
You can't just.
Speaker 4 (31:45):
Bear do you think anything that you are part of that?
You feel you have a love and affinity for you gonna.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
I can't really hard.
Speaker 5 (31:54):
It's hard for us because that's not our culture.
Speaker 3 (31:56):
But I will say that. You know, I don't know
enough about this how Kappa Omega. But if they are
in the spirit of unity doing things also in support
of black people and things that are happening, then you know,
I don't know. I don't listen. I'm just telling you
what people are saying because I'm not part of that,
so I can't judge it. You step in, No, I
(32:19):
never have. I wouldn't just suspect it like that. But
you know it's because I'm not part of a sorority.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
All right.
Speaker 3 (32:24):
Smucker is buying twinkies maker Hostess for five point six
billion dollars. They just announced this today. They announced the transaction.
So Smuckers, you know that makes the jellies, they are
now going to be buying Hostess that makes twinkies. Hostess
makes a lot of do they make ding dongs? They
make all of those different things. Five point six billion dollars.
(32:45):
I did a little deep dive into this too. Hostess
was founded in nineteen nineteen and started making twinkies in
nineteen thirty.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
By the way, so there you have it.
Speaker 3 (32:54):
If you still eat twinkies, maybe this is a big
or ding dongs.
Speaker 4 (32:59):
Those names. It's a little found yes that I'm thinking
about it all this time like a twinkie.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
Or a ding dong.
Speaker 4 (33:06):
I pass.
Speaker 3 (33:08):
All right, well that is you're under the radar now.
You know it's a Monday, so let's get your week
started up right. We got the Way Up mixed at
the top of the hour so you can party with us. Also,
Hurricane Chris is going to be joining us, a babe,
you know Hurricane Chris. I feel like man No knows
everyone ago.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
Well, he actually was on trial.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
He went through a lot for three years, and this
was for a second degree murder charges. And we'll tell
you he's come through on the other side, so he'll
be able to tell you from his own point of
view what's going on. And he's also talking about suing
the police department. Okay, so we'll discuss what happened and
how everything played out, and he'll he'll discuss where he
is now when it comes to business. It's way up
(33:47):
at Angela Yee. She's like the talk like they Angela Jean,
like they Angela Jean.
Speaker 7 (33:52):
And she's spilling it all.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
This is yet way up, all right, it's way up
at Angela Ye.
Speaker 2 (34:00):
I'm Angela Yee and Mano is here.
Speaker 4 (34:03):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
Now, earlier we were talking about Tink and Hitmaker and
the two of them going through a breakup very publicly.
They were both in Cancun at the same restaurant. He
was with some women and Tink was there. She had
been on vacation and they happened to be at the
same restaurant. Yes, and he wouldn't even speak to her.
And the other issue is they work together. He executive
produces her projects. And so now he's saying he wants
(34:26):
two million dollars, and so he was in the comments saying, oh,
he added Mickey Haws said, that's Tink's manager saying that
they're going to have to pay, so on and so forth.
Another thing that I noticed, at one point during their
back and forth, Tink changed her profile picture to a picture.
Speaker 4 (34:43):
Of you Mayno, yeah, I actually saw it all.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
Right, Now, what was that about?
Speaker 4 (34:51):
I mean, you know, we had me and him had
some history.
Speaker 2 (34:54):
I know he was on you Are one of his remixes.
Speaker 4 (34:56):
Yeah, many years ago. We had some history. And all
I guess based off the history that we had that
all she she she felt petty.
Speaker 3 (35:05):
There was a time and you actually slapped him, and
you guys have both addressed it.
Speaker 4 (35:09):
Here's the thing, y'all try to like, damn play it
just now.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
You just so graphic because if you google it, you'll
see what happened. And Maker has addressed this, so have you.
He said he was doing too much. Yeah, and y'all
spoke the following day and squashed it.
Speaker 4 (35:28):
And we've seen each other recently, and you know, I
guess she was feeling you know, she was feeling little petty.
Why did she put your It was funny though.
Speaker 3 (35:35):
It was funny because I know people probably may not know,
and so they saw that they were like, why does
your ger MAINO? So we just want to clear that up.
It wasn't nothing else going on, just to antagonize.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
Him, I guess.
Speaker 5 (35:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
All right, Well let's move on from that because I
saw that happen, and since you're here, I might as
well ask you, all right. Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunas
have apologized now. They actually had written a letter in
support of their former co star Danny Masterson. Danny Masterson
was on that seventy show with them. He was sentenced
last week Thursday at thirty years to life in prison
(36:06):
for two counts of rape and they had written letters
to the judge as testaments to his character before issuing
this video apology after those letters were made public.
Speaker 2 (36:17):
We support victims. We have done this historically through our
work and will continue to do so in the future.
Speaker 18 (36:23):
A couple months ago, Danny's family reached out to us
and they asked us to write character letters to represent
the person that we knew for twenty five years. They
were intended for the judgtory and not to undermine the
testimony of the victims or rech hoomicize them in any way,
and we're sorry if that has taken place.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
One of the victims, identified as Jane do number one,
actually said this video was incredibly insulting and hurtful. My
hope is that they learned a radical accountability and the
importance of self education to learn when to keep their
privilege in check, especially Ashton who claims to work with
victims of sex crimes and as Tamila, I can only
think of times up and so people had issues with
(37:03):
them writing those letters to the judge because he raped
some people. He was He has been convicted of two
counts of rape and sentenced to thirty years to life.
Speaker 5 (37:12):
That was very slippery sloped there and now.
Speaker 3 (37:14):
Christina Richie also posted about this as well. She said, so,
sometimes people we have loved and admired do horrible things.
They may not do these things to us, and we
only know who they were to us, but that doesn't
mean they didn't do the horrible things.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
And to discredit the abuse is a horrible crime.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
So she said, I've known lots of awesome guys who
are lovely to me who have proven to be abused
as privately, I've also had personal experience with this. Believe victims,
it's not easy to come forward. It's not easy to
get a conviction, all right. Now, Along with all of this,
because like we said, they were on that seventy show together,
I saw that people were also wondering what is going
(37:52):
to happen with the reruns of that seventy show. If
you guys recall with Bill Cosby when he was sentenced
of a crime, they yeah, so does that mean now
that they are going to pull the reruns of that
seventies show because of Danny Mastison and the crime that
he committed. Interesting, So we'll be watching to see what's
(38:13):
going to happen.
Speaker 5 (38:14):
Is this going to do?
Speaker 13 (38:16):
Right?
Speaker 2 (38:17):
Is this the same thing?
Speaker 4 (38:18):
Right? You did it to Bill? All right?
Speaker 2 (38:21):
Man No.
Speaker 3 (38:22):
And over the weekend, another thing that happened Hip Hop
fifty yet another celebration at Kamala Harris's house in DC.
So it was all in collaboration with the Recording Academy's
Black Music Coalition and Live Nation Urban and so Kamala
was there. I saw a lot of people were posting
video of them partying at her house.
Speaker 4 (38:44):
So the Vice president a mansion too.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
Her house is not it's not the White House.
Speaker 5 (38:50):
It's not the White House, but.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
It's pretty nice. But do they Yeah, does she live there?
Speaker 3 (38:55):
Like that's part of her job and part of it
is yeah, okay, you get to stay all right, Well
that is your yet And you know it's a Monday,
and I do want to talk about it's nine to
eleven also, mano, and so let's do some Monday menovation.
Speaker 2 (39:13):
When we come back.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
It's way up with Angela Yee a Monday renovation situation.
Speaker 7 (39:20):
Here she back at it. Bring the way up with
Angela y is on.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
Yes, it's way up with Angela. Ye. I'm Angela Yee.
And it's some Monday.
Speaker 3 (39:29):
So you know, Mana was here with his manit station.
Speaker 4 (39:36):
In any situation, you know what, make sure you keep
your dreams, your plans, and your goals out of the
ears of unworthy, unworthy people, okay, because sometimes you share
too much with with people and they use those things
to benefit themselves in other conversations and winds up backfiring you.
(39:58):
So be careful, very talking about, very very cautious on
who you share your plans, your dreams, your goals with,
because that can be used against you later on, you know,
be you know, just be cautious with that, you know,
because matter of fact, you're not supposed to give you know,
all your plans away anyway, right, right, so you want
(40:19):
to you want to be uh, you don't want to
be anticipated.
Speaker 3 (40:23):
You know What're you're right about that though, because there's
times that you think people are in your corner and
they can find out they're really not, and they can
twist things around, right.
Speaker 4 (40:32):
And they're using those conversations in other in other circles.
Speaker 3 (40:36):
Yeah, I think that's a that's a great Monday May innovation.
Speaker 4 (40:40):
Yeah. And and as far as it's it's you know,
it's nine eleven. So never forget, never forget what we've
been through. As a city, you know, and we're still here,
still standing tall, all right.
Speaker 3 (40:52):
And I do want to say this because may know
you also have this for my city. You have a
it's like a spoken word, it's exactly spoken word, a poem,
a poem, and this is about our city right about
nine to eleven. Yeah, and it's also a fundraiser and
all the funds are going to the nine to eleven tribute,
That's right, So tell us about that.
Speaker 4 (41:13):
So we know, we just wanted to do something for
the city because I have a song dropping this week
called for my City, and I just thought it would
be dope to kind of take that and flip it
and do a you know, like a letter and spoken
words style and you know, and raise some funds for
(41:33):
the eleven nine to eleven tribute or museum. So I
just thought it would be dope to do that, you know,
and give back. You know, I know it's a lot
of people still affected by that, a lot of people.
This is a tough day for a lot of people.
Speaker 2 (41:45):
Yeah, twenty two years.
Speaker 4 (41:46):
Yeah, it's been twenty two years, but you know a
lot of people lost parents, kids, brothers, sisters, siblings.
Speaker 2 (41:53):
So you know, nearly three thousand lives.
Speaker 5 (41:56):
Yeah, yeah, it's rough all right.
Speaker 2 (41:58):
Well along with that, but not eleven.
Speaker 3 (42:01):
There's going to be an annual ceremony taking place today
at the nine eleven Memorial Plaza that is all throughout
the day today. It ends, you know, in the afternoon
and that event traditionally they have an in person reading
of the names by victims family members, as well as
six moments of silence that's when you recognize when both
World Trade Centate towers were struck and fell, when the
(42:23):
Pentagon was attacked, and when Flight ninety three crashed. So
anybody that wants to get more information on things today,
remembrance services ways that you can still participate and help,
like what you're doing, you know, to make sure that
families still are affected to this day, all right, So
I just want to point that out and again pay
(42:44):
tribute to people's who gave their lives and even afterwards,
there were a lot of after effects when people who people, firefighters,
a lot of people that were you know, helping during
that time that then found out that there were.
Speaker 2 (42:58):
Going to be some after effects, some issues from what
they did.
Speaker 4 (43:01):
Now.
Speaker 3 (43:02):
Joe Biden also was giving remarks to today as a
day of reflection for all of us. And so again
we want to make sure that people always remember what happened.
What they call it Ground zero in Manhattan, and Joe
Biden is joining service members and their families is a
ceremony at a military base in Anchorage. He's going to
(43:22):
be doing all of that too, all.
Speaker 2 (43:24):
Right, and that is.
Speaker 3 (43:26):
Your Monday May Ovation, Monday man Ovation, and today as
part of that too, Hurricane Chris is going to be
joining us today.
Speaker 12 (43:36):
Now.
Speaker 3 (43:36):
In case you don't know, he went through a lot
in these past few years. Actually just earlier this year,
he was cleared of second degree murder charges and so
some people may not understand what happened with him, but
he's also bringing a lawsuit against the City of Shreport,
which is the police department there. He'll tell you all
of the details of how he managed to you know,
(43:59):
he got charged was something that he did not do.
Speaker 2 (44:01):
It was self defense.
Speaker 3 (44:03):
Unfortunately, someone did lose their life, and he's gonna tell
that story. And I know it's been difficult for him
career wise. Imagine you're being accused of second degree murder.
A lot of times people are guilty in this country
until they're found innocent.
Speaker 2 (44:15):
By public opinion.
Speaker 5 (44:17):
Absolutely so.
Speaker 3 (44:18):
Now he's planning to sue after this whole murder investigation,
and a lot of things were taken from him during
that time. Financially, that wasn't an easy time. Emotionally, it
wasn't an easy time. So he'll be up here to
discuss all of that, Okay, on a Monday alongside that
main ovation.
Speaker 2 (44:33):
All right, it's the way up with Angela ye. Hurricane
Chris is coming up.
Speaker 7 (44:40):
You rib way up with Angela yee.
Speaker 2 (44:43):
Yes, it is way up at Angela yee. I'm Angela yee.
Speaker 4 (44:45):
And Mano is here, No maya, he'd be right on time.
Speaker 2 (44:49):
Man thanks his lesson.
Speaker 3 (44:51):
Yes we goodud you point at you, point at navy
and you gotta hit that drop.
Speaker 2 (44:57):
No may no every time on a Monday. Now listen.
Speaker 3 (45:00):
I just want to remind you all that Powerhouse tickets
are on sale now at Power one O five one
FM dot com. You can see little Uzi vert he's
been working out. I saw he posted a video of
getting in shape. Good all right, a boogie Little Dirk
Ice Spice.
Speaker 2 (45:14):
I saw Ice Spice popped out at Sissy's.
Speaker 3 (45:16):
Show in Brooklyn Nice over the weekend too, and speaking
of Brooklyn, Lola brook is going to be there DJ
Spinking and Friends. That is Saturday night, October twenty eighth
at the Prudential Center. Good Times. I like to go.
Powerhouse is actually a great time. The other thing I
like about Powerhouse is I don't even go backstage.
Speaker 2 (45:37):
I really just kind of like hang out and watch
the concert.
Speaker 4 (45:39):
When you watch it that in Sweet Yeah, I'll go.
Speaker 2 (45:41):
To a sweep.
Speaker 3 (45:42):
We're gonna walk around sweet business. You know, get to
see everybody. It's fun, it's a good time, and then
it's a nice view of everything that's happening. And I
also like to just walk around because that's part of
why we're there, right to see everybody. I was there
last year and Tim's actually got her plaque at that time,
and she's a very very like stoic person, so she
was it was nice to see her kind of be like,
(46:05):
oh my god, you know, to be able to get
that plaque. So I was happy to be there to
be part of that history for her. Now, Hurricane Chris
is going to be joining us when we come back,
and he's got a crazy story to tell. Right now,
he's in the process of suing the City of Shreveport
after he was accused and charged with second degree murder.
But he did beat those charges. Unfortunately, somebody did lose
(46:28):
their life. But he's going to detail everything that happened
that night and then the whole process of what he
had to go through afterward. He was even accused of
stealing a car, and he's going to talk about that too,
same case, that same the car that he was in,
all right, and he'll talk about all of that.
Speaker 2 (46:41):
It's way up with Angela Yee by.
Speaker 7 (46:46):
Yeah, she back at it. Bring in the way up
with Angela Yee is on.
Speaker 3 (46:51):
What's up this way up with Angela Yee. I'm Angela
Yee and Hurricane Chris is here today.
Speaker 14 (46:56):
I'm Hurricane ye.
Speaker 2 (46:57):
It's Hurricane yeazing hurricane and.
Speaker 14 (47:00):
I like that.
Speaker 3 (47:01):
All right, So let's talk about it because I haven't
seen you in a long time.
Speaker 14 (47:05):
Long, long, long. Yeah, it's been a long time.
Speaker 3 (47:08):
But you've had a lot of things that you were
going through. So let's start off with today. How are
you feeling.
Speaker 19 (47:13):
I'm great, I'm blessed. Here another day. I feel good.
I ain't got no health problems. Everybody happy. I ain't
getting no bad phone calls. So We're gonna roll with
how the punch is coming right now.
Speaker 2 (47:26):
There was a situation where you were on trial for
a second degree murder.
Speaker 14 (47:29):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (47:30):
I just want you to talk about what happened, because
I've read the reports, I've seen everything is behind you
and past you now, but just so people who may
not have seen all of that for them to know
what happened.
Speaker 19 (47:40):
A little over three years ago, I was in my
hometown and unfortunately I was met by somebody who led
me to be and feel for my life, and it
ended with me having to defend myself with force.
Speaker 14 (47:52):
I was charged with second degree.
Speaker 19 (47:54):
Murder for defending myself and acting within my legal rights,
and charged and prosecuted to the fullest extent, and was
forced to hire lawyers, bun out on a half a
million dollar bond and go through the entire situation and
fight at trial.
Speaker 3 (48:13):
Right, And that is, you know, an unfortunate situation. And
I know you've continuously offered your condolences to was the
name Danziria Feris.
Speaker 14 (48:21):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, condolencence to the family.
Speaker 2 (48:24):
Right.
Speaker 3 (48:24):
And so let's go back to some people know what
happens he You're in the gas station, was it like
a carjacking situation or.
Speaker 14 (48:32):
What it was. It was a number of things.
Speaker 19 (48:34):
It was the contact initiated when I noticed somebody was
forcing an entry to my vehicle, and after the confrontation
that were verbal exchanges. After that, he begun to make
verbal threats and reach for a weapon. So that's when
I had to take matters of protecting myself.
Speaker 3 (48:52):
And part of why I'm bringing this up is I
know I've seen that you're thinking about a lawsuit again.
Speaker 14 (48:57):
Yeah, definitely, most definitely.
Speaker 3 (48:59):
Now that loss it would be because you feel like
they did not actually even try to find the witnesses
who were there.
Speaker 19 (49:06):
Two witnesses were on the scene. They testified to everything
I said once they got in court. They never questioned
these people before they went in front of the grand
jury and presented their case to indict me on this.
They never told the grand jury that this guy had
a weapon in his pocket which was found and brought
to court and showed to the court room. They never
(49:27):
showed the grand jury that there were witnesses on the
scene that could testify to everything that I had said.
So they presented exactly what they wanted to present to
get the indictment.
Speaker 3 (49:37):
Right now, we are talking to Hurricane Chris and this
was was this.
Speaker 14 (49:41):
Entry report treport Louisiana.
Speaker 3 (49:43):
Okay, and that's where you're from. Just to be clear, yep, Okay.
So the cops did they know who you were? Because
I was there.
Speaker 19 (49:48):
Yeah, when I was inside of the police car, you
can hear cops outside the cart saying, Yo, this Hurricane Chris.
This officers outside who fully awill and very excited to
have me inside of their vehicle.
Speaker 3 (50:00):
That you didn't have issues with the law. It's not
like you were constantly, you know, going to jail.
Speaker 14 (50:04):
I ain't never had a charge in.
Speaker 2 (50:06):
My life during that time. Musically, how was that for you?
Speaker 3 (50:09):
Because I imagine that while people are there's a narrative
out there, you know that you have this pending murder charge.
Some people may not do the research to see the
full story or may not even know the and this
entirety would happen. What does that do for you and
your career during that time? Because how long was it
from when this happened and then when you finally went
to trial three years three, So that's three years that
(50:31):
you're battling this.
Speaker 19 (50:32):
Yeah, basically when this type of attention hit my name.
It made the crowd that was spending money with me
shy way. I've been doing shows for colleges for the
last ten years still to this day, like this one
of my main ways of eating. It made my bank
roll decrease in a major way because my booking stopped coming.
(50:52):
Because I normally wasn't getting booked in areas that wanted
to promote this type of activity. My bag was coming
from different lanes. You understand what I'm saying. I might
be doing a show with twenty five hundred white college kids.
You understand what I'm saying. They MAMMAE letting them come
to my show if they know I'm on trial from earlier,
You're crazy. So this really hurt my pocket.
Speaker 2 (51:15):
And it costs a lot of money to fight something
like this.
Speaker 14 (51:17):
Yeah, yeah, it costs.
Speaker 19 (51:18):
It's continuous money and the money and how much you
think you spent all together on lawyers and having to.
Speaker 2 (51:23):
Deal with this.
Speaker 19 (51:24):
I ain't estimated exactly what I spent on lawyers, but
I know I lost it all in total, one point
two million sesh.
Speaker 14 (51:30):
It's from beginning to end. We're dealing with this case.
Speaker 3 (51:33):
Right now, we are talking to Hurricane Chris and on
top of all of that, a situation like that, even
though it was self defense. I know that's not mentally
an easy thing to know that somebody else's life, you know,
even though it could have been you wore him.
Speaker 2 (51:48):
You know that's not an easy thing to deal with either.
Speaker 14 (51:50):
It's never easy.
Speaker 19 (51:51):
You know, life is important and I want everything around
me to live, from the flowers to the dogs to
the cats.
Speaker 2 (51:58):
And you knew some of his family members too.
Speaker 19 (52:00):
I know you best friends, best friends, spent the night
at each other's house. They Mama cooked for me, my
grandma cooked for them. Some of his family members was
in court saying this is terrible on both ends for me.
Speaker 3 (52:10):
Right now, I wanna ask you too, because you've worked
with a lot of people when all this was going on.
Were you still able to contact people? Were people still
willing to work with you? Or cause I was just
looking at like and he was showing how he was
dming people. People wasn't responding to him.
Speaker 19 (52:27):
It's crazy because I talked to two chains on the phone,
and I get the impression that he felt like I
may have actually been in the wrong or you know,
doing something I shouldn't have, Like I kind of got
that impression because he was kind of like giving me
a little speech, you know what I'm saying. I'm like, uh,
I mean, I acted like I was supposed to act
(52:48):
in the situation that I was in, you know, And
I feel like even he felt like the media may
have been right about whatever they were saying about me, right,
it just wasn't It wouldn't respond, so I was expecting.
But then when I see people like Killer Mike, he
instantly embraced me, like I knew you was gonna get
through this.
Speaker 1 (53:08):
Man.
Speaker 19 (53:08):
This wasn't nothing but a test from you know what
I'm saying, Like, that's the energy that you know that
keep you moving forward.
Speaker 4 (53:14):
You know.
Speaker 3 (53:15):
Sometimes people don't know the details until the actual trial though,
because I don't know how much you're supposed to talk
about before exactly. So it happened so not knowing the
details of them, not contacting these witnesses who actually validated
everything that you were saying, and not having full information
sometimes beforehand, people just read the reports and are like, oh,
(53:37):
you know, that's foul.
Speaker 19 (53:38):
Yeah, and that's another reason why that being attached to
my name did so much damage.
Speaker 3 (53:43):
What about Boosie? You guys have worked together too. Did
he reach out at all during this time?
Speaker 19 (53:46):
Or Nah, he ain't reach out. I ain't really talk
to nobody when this was going on, No rappers, I
ain't had no communication with him.
Speaker 3 (53:53):
Was that you doing that purposely for yourself because you
were going through a lot, or.
Speaker 19 (53:57):
I mean I got it. I got Instagram and I
was checking my DMS. I received messages from people, some
people that I didn't even have relationships with, but pretty much.
Speaker 14 (54:08):
I ain't really received No, ain't nobody to reach out.
I don't think nobody rich ot all.
Speaker 3 (54:12):
Right, Hurricane Chris is here. He's got more music on
the way. After going through a lot in these past
few years, we have more with him when we come back.
Speaker 2 (54:20):
It's way up at Angela Yee.
Speaker 7 (54:23):
You ride a way up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 2 (54:25):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (54:26):
It's way up at Angela Ye. I'm Angela Yee and
Hurricane Chris is here with me. So for you now
moving forward with your career, what's going on with the music?
I saw you're gonna do a new Hurricane Season.
Speaker 14 (54:36):
Hurricane Season.
Speaker 19 (54:37):
You know they say this was one of the hardest
mixtapes of the time when I dropped right, So I'm
coming with Hurricane Season two.
Speaker 2 (54:44):
And that's this month. This is gonna be coming out.
That's what I said month. Okay.
Speaker 3 (54:47):
I remember when I first started this show, where up
at Angela Yee, the phone number to call up here
is eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty. And
I was like, yeah, we had a bunch of different
potential phone numbers, and I said, let's keep that fifty
one fifty. Yeah, and goodness, some of the executives didn't
know what fifty one fifty means because you had the
fifty one fifty ratchet.
Speaker 2 (55:05):
And I remember saying, Hurricane Chris, you.
Speaker 3 (55:07):
Know, say that I appreciate that, appreciate that, appreciate it
for everybody. What is fifty one fifty?
Speaker 19 (55:12):
I mean one hundred and one percent real, doing more
than what you have to do, you know what I'm saying,
going to extra mile and this type of person, I am.
Speaker 3 (55:21):
Right, And listen now I got to ask you this also.
So the car that she was driving, I saw the
and the child. The woman said that it was like
an X and she said that that was her car. Yeah,
that you were driving at the time. So I guess
y'all had a little fling and then you never gave
the car back.
Speaker 2 (55:36):
What happened with that?
Speaker 19 (55:37):
It was a card that I went to the dealership
and got for me. We put it in her name
because she got a better interest rate than they approved
me for.
Speaker 14 (55:45):
So she was with me, and so we put it
in her name. It was mine.
Speaker 19 (55:48):
I dropped the bread, I drove it. She never heard
a key, never drove it, never had possession of it.
Speaker 2 (55:54):
Okay. See I did not know that.
Speaker 19 (55:55):
Yeah, and so when I told her, I didn't want to,
you know, deal with her no more. I'm like, I'm
about to go. I'm happening on the flight. I'm out,
I land and I get a TIXT like, I'm about
to report your call over the reported stove.
Speaker 1 (56:05):
Damn.
Speaker 2 (56:06):
Well, I'm glad you're able to clear that up there.
Speaker 14 (56:08):
You can't tell that.
Speaker 3 (56:09):
I was like, well, damn, you done took this woman's
car because they broke up and she can't get a
car back.
Speaker 5 (56:13):
Nah.
Speaker 9 (56:14):
Man.
Speaker 3 (56:15):
See, there's so many things that go on that when
you read like the report and you see what happened
at the trial, until you talk to the person firsthand.
Speaker 19 (56:22):
Yeah, that's why I was acquitted of everything. I wouldn't
charge with nothing. At the end of the thing, I
was acquitted of everything.
Speaker 2 (56:29):
Right now, we are talking to Hurricane Chris.
Speaker 3 (56:31):
Now legally, do you have lawyers already set to go
for this potential lawsuit against the city?
Speaker 14 (56:37):
Ready? Shit go?
Speaker 2 (56:39):
Okay? And they feel like you have a strong case.
Speaker 14 (56:41):
Very strong case.
Speaker 19 (56:42):
I just wanted to let you know that I talked
to my lawyer yesterday and I'm probably about to be
going in with I'm on opening a new firm.
Speaker 2 (56:51):
Wait a minute, hold on, You're going to open up
a new law firm.
Speaker 14 (56:54):
I'm about to be partner in a law firm. Possibly.
Speaker 19 (56:58):
This is a conversation we have talking about opening a
branch in New Orleans, So this could be something that
I'm getting into in the future as well, trying to
help people who went through what.
Speaker 14 (57:07):
I went through.
Speaker 19 (57:08):
Right, That's another reason why I got a lot of
love for Kim Kardashian and what she doing. Okay, she
helping free people who deserve to be freed, and.
Speaker 2 (57:15):
Like Reform Alliance and all those organizations.
Speaker 14 (57:19):
I gotta get involved after going through what I just
went through.
Speaker 3 (57:21):
Because you never imagine something like this could happen until
it happens to you. Or someone that you love and
care about, because most people are like they did it,
I don't care, but then they see it happen.
Speaker 2 (57:31):
That's even how Reform Alliance died.
Speaker 19 (57:33):
Oh when I was on before I started try when
the DA was picking her jury, they questioned the jury
and they asked one dude, do you think you would
be able to make the right decision as far as
blase that and he hopped up and said, well, if
they arrested him and they say he did it, and
evidently he did it, oh my god. And they kicked
him off the jury just for that. But they show
(57:54):
you what type of people they can possibly put your
life in their hands.
Speaker 3 (57:58):
Well, I'm glad that you know, finding all the witnesses
came forward and that you but like you said, this
is something that left the stain in. Three years is
a long time, especially in the midst of doing everything
that you were doing and having all these potential opportunities,
and it really.
Speaker 19 (58:12):
Got a sun right, Yeah, got a chene ye old.
So every day I'm hugging him. It's like, man, he's
folks telling me talking about shaking to murdered. This mandatory
life in Louisiana, not twenty five years mandatory life, not
parole after a certain amount of time.
Speaker 2 (58:26):
Did they offer you a plea deal before that?
Speaker 19 (58:28):
Or I think it was like forty years for manslaughter.
But my lawyers didn't even come to me with it.
Speaker 2 (58:33):
They told me that we're not doing that.
Speaker 19 (58:34):
They told me this after I beat the case. They said,
we just want to let you know that they trapped
off you forty years. But I know you would have
fired us if we would have came to you. Yeah, boy,
you'd have been fast soon as you said that.
Speaker 2 (58:43):
Yeah, I mean, I guess they still got to let
you know.
Speaker 4 (58:46):
He knew me, He knew you.
Speaker 2 (58:47):
Wasn't going to do that.
Speaker 4 (58:48):
You knew me.
Speaker 14 (58:49):
You never even came to me with it.
Speaker 3 (58:50):
Well, listen, we've always had a you know, even from
back then, I've always felt your spirit. So I'm just
happy for you that all of this is behind you
and that you're going forward, you know, doing what you
need to do. So everybody, y'all, make sure you reach
out to Hurricane Chris Cuz.
Speaker 14 (59:04):
Yeah, show me some love.
Speaker 2 (59:05):
Man's shown so much.
Speaker 3 (59:06):
Make sure you came up here to explain your side
of the story for people who may not have heard it.
Speaker 14 (59:10):

Speaker 4 (59:52):

Speaker 2 (59:52):
I'm good? You do not sound good? Are you?
Speaker 4 (59:54):
Okay?
Speaker 7 (59:55):
I don't know, I'm good.
Speaker 6 (59:56):
I was told I have a d boy, so.
Speaker 3 (59:58):
Okay, all right, So tell us what's the problem.
Speaker 14 (01:00:01):
Well, I have on a relationship.
Speaker 15 (01:00:03):
I've been there for over twenty years.
Speaker 13 (01:00:05):
He never knows, but just in the last.
Speaker 20 (01:00:09):
Year I have put a recorder in my phone and.
Speaker 15 (01:00:12):
I listened and I heard that.
Speaker 13 (01:00:14):
You know, something was going on, I should.
Speaker 9 (01:00:16):
Have been going on.
Speaker 2 (01:00:16):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (01:00:17):
So you've been in your relationship for twenty years, right, okay,
and so you you ended up, you said, putting a.
Speaker 2 (01:00:24):
Recorder on his phone?
Speaker 14 (01:00:26):
No, in the vehicle?
Speaker 3 (01:00:27):
Oh, in the vehicle? Okay, all right, So why what
made you decide to do that?
Speaker 2 (01:00:31):
I'm uncomfortable feeling ignored, but okay, so what did you
hear on this recorder?
Speaker 13 (01:00:37):
I hear him say some things that sounds sexual, and
I hear a female panting and stuff like that.
Speaker 3 (01:00:43):
No conversation, And did you confront him about any of this?
Or you can't say anything because you recording?
Speaker 12 (01:00:49):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:00:49):
No, no, I said something and what did he say?
Speaker 13 (01:00:52):
And it just kind of was like, you're crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:00:55):
But you know what, you know what it is? Yeah,
I could tell. So what's the question because he said
he has lost interest?
Speaker 13 (01:01:02):
Yeah, I just I just don't know what to do
at this point, Like I've just been letting it go
for a while, Like I just don't bother him about it.
I just don't want to course friction in my home
and stuff, so I just kind of just ignore it
like it didn't happen.
Speaker 4 (01:01:15):
I do live together, right?
Speaker 3 (01:01:17):
Is this what you envision a successful relationship that that
you want.
Speaker 4 (01:01:22):
To be there?
Speaker 13 (01:01:23):
I'm just feeling some kind of weak because I'm like,
how long can you sit there and just keep going?
When you know?
Speaker 4 (01:01:28):
I know? Now?
Speaker 3 (01:01:29):
The question you should be asking yourself is not how
long can he do this? How long can you do this?
Speaker 12 (01:01:33):
You know?
Speaker 2 (01:01:34):
Because he'll do it as long as you let him.
I believe.
Speaker 4 (01:01:37):
I believe that.
Speaker 14 (01:01:38):
That's what my That's what my girlfriend.
Speaker 1 (01:01:39):
Says, the same thing.
Speaker 13 (01:01:40):
My homegirl says the same thing.
Speaker 4 (01:01:42):
Have you ever brought other women to your, uh, your relationship?
Speaker 13 (01:01:45):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:01:46):
No, she does not want to do that. You totally against.
Speaker 3 (01:01:51):
Okay, he did what he did. He deceived you, and
you know what it is. Now it's up to you.
What do you want to do? Do you want to
stay or do you want to go? That's your decision
to make, it's not his, and.
Speaker 4 (01:02:03):
That's a mess of thing.
Speaker 13 (01:02:04):
I don't want to go, but I don't want to
stay in this place neither where we're just at this
disagreement spot where like you didn't but I know you did,
but you're not facing that you did, like you don't
want to come into my face that you did.
Speaker 4 (01:02:17):
Or you could leave and then get your new man
and probably more than likely deal with some of the
same stuff or maybe even worse. No, how about that,
I hope.
Speaker 13 (01:02:25):
I don't even know if I want to do another
relationship after that.
Speaker 3 (01:02:28):
I don't think that's too Sometimes you never know what's
waiting for you, because right now you're blocking your blessings
by being in an unhappy relationship, and for some reason,
you're not understanding that you are worthy of finding somebody
that can teach you the way that you deserve to
be treated. Why is he going to stop doing these
things if you're staying. If you're going to stay and
be unhappy, what's the point of.
Speaker 4 (01:02:48):
That, right, I feel?
Speaker 3 (01:02:50):
I would honestly, I think people sometimes are also scared
to be alone. I'd rather be alone and be happier
that way than with somebody and unhappy.
Speaker 4 (01:02:59):
That's right on yourself, Yeah, I hear, there's.
Speaker 3 (01:03:02):
Nothing wrong with being alone. By the way, there's nothing
wrong with that.
Speaker 13 (01:03:05):
Right exactly, That's what I feel, because I feel like
it's hurting more or not knowing exactly what's what you know?
Just hearing the glimpse that I got, and now I'm
just walking around with this bad picture.
Speaker 2 (01:03:15):
Yeah, so wearing on me.
Speaker 13 (01:03:16):
I mean I've been I've just been doing me since then,
trying to work on me and work on my mindset
and keep myself straight in my mind.
Speaker 3 (01:03:22):
But remember, you dictate how people treat you. However you
let him treat you, he will you dictate that. The
power is in your hands. If you don't go for it,
he can't do that to you.
Speaker 2 (01:03:32):
It's up to you, gotcha, Absolutely all right? I wish
you so much less.
Speaker 4 (01:03:37):
I appreciate y'all.
Speaker 13 (01:03:38):

fifty one fifty in case you couldn't get through. It
really hurts my heart to see people going through things
like this and feeling stuff.
Speaker 5 (01:03:51):
She could meet the chicken, no figure it all out.
Speaker 2 (01:03:54):

so many conspiracy theories out there and everything.
Speaker 4 (01:05:10):
It was when the second plane hit. Yes, and I
live television watching the news.
