Speaker 2 (00:12):
Yes, it is a way up with Angela Yee, Angela
Yee and full transparency. The weather is so bad in
New York that people cannot get to work today, so
I fortunately managed to make it in. My guy, Eddie
is taking over for Navy until he gets here. We
know Eddie from the Breakfast Club, so I'm familiar with him.
He's a little rusty in here, but it's okay. Mano
(00:35):
is on the way. But I promise y'all, my makeup
artist isn't here today.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
She's on the way.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Everybody is super delayed, so just giving you guys a
heads up. Today is also a very special day because
it is a National Coffee Day, and y'all know I
love my coffee. I already have my coffee today, but
I'm gonna have another one in celebration. Coffee Uplifts People.
That's the name of my coffee company and my coffee shop,
So don't be afraid to go to Target dot com
(01:02):
and support this black owned business. All right, Coffee Uplifts People,
you can get us at Target or Coffee Upliftspeople dot com.
And for me, the main thing is educating people about
Oh you know what, Today's also my brother's birthday, So
happy birthday, Brian.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
He's a year and three months older than me.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
My parents knocked us out, one right after the other
as soon as she was able. I don't know another
nicer way to say it, but Mona Scott Young is
going to be joining us today. Also, Mona, by the way,
loves coffee. The first thing she says when she comes
in here is you have any coffee? So yes, Mona
Scott Young is going to be joining us today. And
she actually has a new show that's on BT Plus.
(01:42):
It's like a movie. It's a two part movie based
on a true story. It's called Love and Murder landa
Playboy And so you guys, Tay Diggs is starring in
that as well as Keisha Sharp. And there's a lot
of people that you'll be familiar with when you guys
get a chance to watch that. Carlie Red is in it,
Ernestine Yandy's in it. Yeah, there's a lot of young
(02:03):
Jack is in it. So make sure y'all check that
out on be et Plus. But let's get the show
started the way we only, the only way we know how.
With some positivity on a Friday, because you know we
love a Friday. Eight hundred two nine two fifty one
fifty is a number. Call us up, let us know
who you want to shine a light on. Have your
coffee with me this morning on National Coffee Day. It's
way up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
I'm a shine, I'm shine.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Turn your lights on, y'all spreading love to those who
are doing greatness.
Speaker 4 (02:30):
Shine a light on them, shine a light on.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
It's time to shine a light on them.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
Yeah, it's way up with Angela Yee and it's time
to shine a light on him. That's where you guys
get to say something positive. Shout somebody out, show them
some love on this platform on Way Up with Angela Yee.
And I want to shine a light on somebody who
I think is absolutely amazing. I tell her all the
time that she is an inspiration to me, and that
is Deborah Roberts.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
Now we talked about this the other day.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
She is taking up co anchor duty at twenty twenty
on ABC News, and this was all started she was
recruited by Barbara Walters, and she's excited to be following
in the footsteps of Barbara Walters. As well, But I
was watching her on the news this morning, so I'm
excited to watch twenty twenty tonight to see what she
has been researching and what she's bringing us. But she's
(03:18):
been working with the show for quite some time as
a contributor, so now she is expanding her role. And
she's also an author, by the way, I told you
guys before, and she's been up here talking about her
book where she's paying Homa just some of the greatest
teachers that she's had while growing up, and a lot
of other people contributed to that book, like Oprah Rosie
(03:38):
Perez talking about the best teachers they've ever had. So
I just wanted to shout out to her. She's I'm
just an amazing person. And you can watch that twenty
twenty show on a True Crime Vault. She has a
podcast called twenty twenty two Crime Vault that's going to
be talking about the series archives and repurposing episodes and
all of that. But shout out to her, Deborah Roberts.
(04:00):
I'm just happy to see that. I'm happy to see
the somebody who is deserving. She's a true journalist and
just a really nice, great person.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
So shine a light on her. Now, who do you
guys want to shine a light on?
Speaker 4 (04:10):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (04:10):
And I got to shine a light on my brother
because today is his birthday. I mean, I cannot forget that.
September twenty ninth, shout out to my brother Brian.
Speaker 5 (04:17):
Ye.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Yes, my brother is the person that is always there
for me when I need him. I remember when I
was younger, I needed to borrow eight thousand dollars after
crashing someone's car, and he was able to give that
to me right away. And I definitely had to pay
him back in installments. But to know that there's somebody,
and that's not an easy thing to have, even in
your own family, that you can call upon when you
need them for any reason whatsoever, I think that's one
(04:41):
of the most important things I could tell anything. He's
not judgmental. If I call him right now, I'm like, Brian,
I'm having an emergency. Can you help me?
Speaker 3 (04:48):
He'll be there. So I appreciate my brother.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Brian.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Shine a light on you now, will How are you.
Speaker 5 (04:54):
Good?
Speaker 2 (04:55):
Good? Who do you want to shine a light on?
Speaker 6 (04:57):
I want to shine a light on my son Jojob.
But I want to Shay shine a light on all
my kids. But more so my son Jojo. Even though
he's going through a lot of medical issues, he's still
farms the reason to smile and I just, you know,
just want to get my son shout out, Jojo.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
How are the other kids with everything too?
Speaker 6 (05:12):
They're handling them with you know, they you know, my
son has a rare condition called the sand Filipino syndrome.
It's basically like a child like dementia.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
Oh wow, and he only you.
Speaker 6 (05:23):
Know, the life respectancy is only between ten and twenty years.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 7 (05:28):
Okay, well yeah, so so just just shire prayers for us.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
We are definitely praying for him. Anything could happen, you know,
to maybe help with that in the time that he
does have. But I love the fact that you're shining
a light on Jojo, and I know that you're going
to make however long he's here. Count Thank you, Thank you,
God bless you and your family and Jojo.
Speaker 7 (05:47):
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
All right, Well, that was your shine a light on him.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
And if you guys couldn't get through eight hundred two
ninety two, fifty one fifty is a number. And when
we come back, we got YETI let's talk about bow wow.
Versus Michael Maldin. That's Jermaine Dupriest father will tell you
what they're fighting over. It's way up with Angela. Yee.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
It says in the rooms from industry shade to all
the gods out, Angela's spelling that eight.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
By the time he hits seventy, here's what was said.
Speaker 8 (06:17):
If I was fun the right female, but time them
like sixties five suny already got an overseas. I'm grooming,
clean my bike, my bed, worship me till I die
and leave my son or the bread. I already got
a male ready. My uncle put me on toxic.
Speaker 4 (06:40):
That's the whole thing.
Speaker 8 (06:40):
I'm not toxic. Not toxic because I leave. Last time
I lefft me it was second grade because I put
gument our head.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Oh. I feel like some of his exes might chime
in on that, but yeah, I agree.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
It sounds a little toxic, you know.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
But that's camera and his take on his own personal situation. Now,
Jermaine du priest father Michael Maldon, who is a music
industry executive, has brought a lawsuit to bow Wow, and
that is for the Scream Tour trademark. According to court documents,
that hip hop d X obtained. Bow Wow should not
be using that Scream tour because it is a common
(07:17):
law trademark, which means that he's been using it for
so long that even though it wasn't federally registered, it's
still a common law trademark. He said he's been using
that for his own tours for the past forty years,
and he did not formerly trademark formerly trademarked the name
until two months after the Black Promoters Collective filed the
trademark for themselves. He's also naming them in a lawsuit.
(07:40):
In case you don't know, bow Wow is planning a
scream tour. He did a video announcement and said, get
your tickets. My youngins is ready to show out on
that tour. Is going to be that girl Leile Young, Dylan,
Papa Jay and Moore. So we'll see what happens with that,
all right. And in another fun nostalgic throwback, Mr Lee
Simmons is launching a new Baby Fat Fall collections.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
It's back to the basics, that is what she's saying.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
The new Fall collection is priced between fifty two one
hundred dollars and it's available exclusively on babyfat dot Com
starting to day. So if you guys want to throw
back to w and you used to wear a Baby Fat,
this is a good time to do it. It's going
to have many cargo skirts, cute crap tops, the lower
tracksuits because that was a staple in the Baby Fat collection.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
And the five package gene is back.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
She said, we were the originator of that with that
kind of stretch, that's just very different these days. There's
a couple of brands that have that, but that's our
classic fit. That's my classic five Packagjen, So get ready
for that, all right.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
A shout out to Usher.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
His streaming numbers since he announced that he is going
to be doing a halftime show with the Super Bowl
have really jumped up. So even though Ush's been doing
his thing for quite some time now, everybody has been
going to his Vegas residency. Now that he's announced that,
those streams have gone crazy. So shout out to him
for that. I know we'll all be watching him. I
(09:01):
can't imagine, like this is probably going to be up there,
I think with some of the best halftime shows that
we've ever seen. And Tom Brady has a scripted limited
series called The Patriot way.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
That's in the works.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
And so now that he is retired for good, we
assume that he's retired for good, he is making sure
that he's handling his legacy. It's gonna chronicle his rise
from six round NFL with a draft pick, to his
half dozen Super Bowl wins with the Patriots, the Aaron
Hernandez bygate and deflate gate scandals, and of course his
battle of wills with head coach Bill Belichick. So get
(09:35):
ready for that. Actually, even though I'm not the biggest
football fan, this definitely sounds like there's a lot involved
with it. I'll be watching that. I know Eddie, who's
in here right now on the boards, is gonna be
watching that too.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
He can't wait, all right.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
Carti b has expressed how difficult it is to record
the clean version of certain songs like bongos. Imagine trying
to do a clean version of bongos. You have to
do it for radio. But here's what she had to say.
She was talking to Hot Ones.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
What's it like to record clean for radio version of
a card?
Speaker 9 (10:06):
Annoying? So annoying, Like because I just did it, like
practically two weeks ago, and I was like, so over
it because it's like my new song. I'd be like, eat, this.
Speaker 10 (10:16):
Is like a plum.
Speaker 4 (10:17):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
Speaker 9 (10:19):
So like you know, I'm doing the clean version and
it's like, all right, baby, eat it up like a plum.
And it's like, no, there's still you still can't play
that for pop radio or whatever. And I'm like, baby,
eat these peaches and plums.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
And I was so over that actually would be cute
as a kid's bop song and have like fruit dancing
across the stage. If y'all saw the Sexy Red the
teacher who you know was playing skie and had the
kids singing along but doing like an educational version, I
could see eat these peaches and plums. Maybe I could
use that when I reopened the Juice Bar as a
(10:56):
theme song. What do you guys think?
Speaker 3 (10:57):
All right, well that is your yat.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
And when we come back, we have about last night.
That's where we discussed what we did last night, how
it happened. Maybe Mana will be here by then. But
the traffic is crazy today in New York because of
the weather. It's way up at Angela.
Speaker 4 (11:09):
Ye, so about last night.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
Last night, last night I went down, Yes.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
It is a way up.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
Angela, Ye, Angela, yeah, look.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
Made it.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
It's like a hurricane out there.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
Listen, the flooding is crazy.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
I don't know what's going on, but I know they
canceled a whole lot of flights. So planning to travel
and it has to go through New York forget about it.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
Yes, God is angry, the angels is crying.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
But mana, thank goodness, you made it. All right, let's
talk about what you did last night.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
You had an exciting night, had a good night. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
I want Lamborghini outfit.
Speaker 4 (11:45):
Right.
Speaker 11 (11:46):
I went to Lamborghini granted, shout out to my god, dreel.
Lamborghini's unveiling a new Lamborghini. It's coming out next year.
They're not gonna it's not gonna. They're not gonna have
the vented doing no more. What is that the truck
no no anything. Truck truck been out, the euro has
been out, But this new one. I think it's called
a hell Toe or something like that.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Let me look it up, let me do it deep dusk.
Speaker 11 (12:07):
It's coming next year. So I was at the event,
shout out the styles p he was there too.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
Yeah, And I just want to keep talking about because
I was actually watching your Instagram page, right, and this
is for my city challenge that's been going on, and
I see a lot of women because that's what I
was looking for right now. So a lot of women
have joined this challenge. You took the first verse off
the song and people get to submit their verse to
(12:34):
represent their city and then they'll be able to you'll
be streaming in certain cities like the best.
Speaker 4 (12:39):
Yeah, the best verse in any city.
Speaker 11 (12:42):
It is, but you know, it makes it easier when
when you got to do city by city because it's
like it's not everybody against each other. So you got
the best verse in in Connecticut, Hartford, then.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
I choose like that, so is in Connecticut. But that's
what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
So you'll do Hartford, but not all of the whole state.
Speaker 11 (13:00):
Okay, but right if you had the best verse in Waterbury,
that's something to Middletown.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
Right, Middletown is New York.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
Middletown in Connecticut. So I went to college.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
Oh okay, middle Town. I don't know if anybody heard
that town.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
Shout out to everybody in Middletown, Connecticut.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
But a lot of a lot of a lot of
ladies been having a lot to say.
Speaker 5 (13:16):
All.
Speaker 11 (13:16):
Shout out to Kaya Baby Maln.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
Yes, Marialin you posted her yesterday.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Yeah, I have a friend from Omaha who's going to
be doing her Verse soon.
Speaker 4 (13:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
I was on the group text with her. She's actually
getting someone to mate her verse.
Speaker 4 (13:30):
It's not just the she's not just a brand. She's
her own.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
Brand, yes, Jasney brand. She's getting her Verse ready and
she's very serious about it. She's got writers and everything.
All right, but you have a couple of really good ones.
I'm from New York and one woman that listened to Alexa.
Right she murdered, all right, but let's hear it turned
out to the city.
Speaker 12 (13:52):
I'm lady, y'all, just someone old some water stuff queen
in New York for Queens, Look what a lot for
that age at eighteen, So welcous for last us, something
(14:13):
like hello, mom, did yap do this on on your playlist?
Speaker 4 (14:18):
On my way?
Speaker 13 (14:18):
No?
Speaker 3 (14:18):
No, this is gonna be hard for you to pick.
Speaker 4 (14:26):
No, it's gonna be. It's gonna be.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
I feel like Queens did a lot, and I know
Brooklyn went crazy.
Speaker 4 (14:31):
You know it's crazy.
Speaker 11 (14:32):
It's like Hong Kong Baby is both from Queens I
might have to just take my second verse off and
just now you.
Speaker 4 (14:37):
Gotta pick it and make it.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
Don I wonder what Detroit is looking like, because.
Speaker 4 (14:41):
You know I did get something from Detroit.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Okay, all right, Well, shout out to everybody who's been
joining the talents. Last night I was in my attorney
because I think you know, today is National Coffee Day
and I am planning to open up another shop, and
so we were having conversations about that.
Speaker 4 (14:59):
Yeah, we got a really get to this meat drinking coffee.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
Oh yeah, we're gonna do that, because there is no
reason I have this beautiful GHI especially assum in the
studio with my coffee.
Speaker 3 (15:12):
Uplifts people coffee and you have never tried it.
Speaker 4 (15:14):
You never taste of coffee.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
And people sometimes you come in here Mano because they're
like you've been out all nice saving the city and
they're like, give Manos some coffee please, and we need
to do that. All right, Well that was about last night.
When we come back, this is something that you love,
tell us a secret, seper I hate when Mano's not
here for tell us the secret.
Speaker 3 (15:31):

fifty is a number. Call us up. We want to
hear your secrets. Mano will not judge you. Eight hundred
fifty one fifty. Call us up and tell us a secret.
It's way up at Angela Yee.
Speaker 4 (15:49):
Way. This is a judgment. Freeze on. Tell us a secret.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
Yes, it is way up at Angela Yee. I'm Angela
Yee and Mano is here. Now we were okay, Now,
just so you guys know, our board up Navy couldn't
make it in. Is he gonna make it in? We
don't know. But Brooklyn and I will say he's not lying, okay,
because there's definitely a lot of footage of all of
(16:16):
the you know, he's from Brooklyn, he lives in Brooklyn.
Of the flooding that's going on. Now, the first thing
Mano said is what about the rats?
Speaker 4 (16:22):
Where is the rats? Like? What happens to the rats?
Speaker 2 (16:25):
And I did a deep dive and it turns out
that rats are excellent swimmers and they can also hold
their breath for almost three minutes and swim underwater, so
they'll be okay.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
Right, But what if it's too much water.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
They have been recorded swimming over a mile and they
can swim and shred water for up to three days.
They better than me. I don't even know how to swim.
All right, Well, anyway, it's time for tell us a secret.
Eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty is a number.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
I'm good? Manos here too, relax, Manos, all right, you
want to tell us a secret?
Speaker 7 (17:14):
Okay, So for the past year, since I broke up
with my ex, I have been using his phone numbers
to get his gas rewards.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
Now you going in and you put in the phone number.
That's not a bad thing.
Speaker 10 (17:28):
Though he works in Yeah, he works in lawn care,
and I know he fills up almost every other day
and those points add up, and gas is expensive.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
I'm not mad at it.
Speaker 4 (17:38):
That's actually funny.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
Yeah, that's pretty slick.
Speaker 4 (17:40):
So what happens if he finds out cut off.
Speaker 9 (17:43):
That's the thing.
Speaker 15 (17:43):
I don't know how he has it yet.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
Oh he's probably not even paying attention.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
He's just going to get his gas, putting his number
in and not even noticing it. I've been doing that
with like GNC at the for vitamins. You put the
number in and you get the rewards. It's like, oh,
you have a cool You're like, okay.
Speaker 7 (18:02):
It's ten cents off every time. I love it.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
So you only you doing it for ten cents per
gallon per gallant. Yeah, that definitely adds up, and you'll
probably be getting like the premium gas too. Absolutely, all right,
well thank you. I'm not mad at that.
Speaker 15 (18:21):
I appreciate You'll have a good one.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
He's like, see, I feel good.
Speaker 4 (18:24):
Nobody judged her.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
Yeah, because you're like that slick hanging out a miss caller.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
I'm here in Mayno's here and we're ready to hear
your secret.
Speaker 7 (18:33):
What's up, guys. So when I was in college, I
used to have a really bad relationship with my roommate.
He was a real so he had like this girlfriend
that basically always stayed at our room and I never
had like the room to myself. Ever, So every time
that I would bring a girl back and I had
to turn around or figure something out because he was
(18:54):
in there with his girlfriend.
Speaker 5 (18:55):
Wow.
Speaker 7 (18:56):
I would then clean the toilet.
Speaker 4 (18:57):
With his lufah? Is what his loofah?
Speaker 7 (19:01):
What he uses to clean his body with the shower?
Speaker 2 (19:04):
Yeah, it's like a It's like a sponge, but for
your body. Oh you know, like a right, U class different.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
It's like a.
Speaker 4 (19:13):
Sponge like girls use that.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
Well, we don't judge him a loofah.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
The thing that used loofahs.
Speaker 4 (19:20):
Too, we don't. Probably still using.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
Loof all right, So you've been cleaning the toilet with
the loofah. That's disgusting.
Speaker 4 (19:28):
It wouldn't be he.
Speaker 7 (19:30):
Would block He would be blocking me. So I was
taken tired of it. So I was just like, someone's
gotta pay for this.
Speaker 4 (19:35):
You know, you should have let him know you did it.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
No, you shouldn't. It's even first of all, that's disgusting.
You know, they probably would have fought.
Speaker 4 (19:42):
Okay, he does like the fighter. He was way bigger
than me, bigger than me, a sneaker.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
Oh that's disgusting. All right, Well, thank you for sharing.
Speaker 2 (19:49):
And you know, sometimes the toilet be having like the
ring around it if you go in and you take.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
A valated and you know you.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
Be in there splattering all over never never, okay, but
thank you for sharing. That's how you got to change
your loofah frequently, maybe every day.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
I've never heard that word.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
All right, Well, thank you for calling.
Speaker 7 (20:09):
Thank you?
Speaker 2 (20:09):
What's up? Anatamus calor? How are you? I'm so all
right good, but it's me and mano hair. We're not
gonna judge you. You want to tell us a secret, okay,
I said, with my child father little brother and I
st with the next door neighbors.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
You're just a freak.
Speaker 2 (20:23):
Wait, she said, with the next door neighbors.
Speaker 11 (20:25):
Slept with a child's father's little brother and the next
door neighbor. Yeah, he came on to me, all right,
and you gave him away.
Speaker 4 (20:33):
It's okay, You're good.
Speaker 11 (20:35):
Okay, Hey, listen, you got to own who you are.
I respect it.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
With your child's father.
Speaker 13 (20:41):
I don't have one with.
Speaker 4 (20:42):
Him, okay, So you should don't stop there. You should
just knock the building with.
Speaker 15 (20:47):
One of his brothers, because I was going to do both.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
You think he knows, he don't know, okay, And you
still talk he never finds out.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
You still talk to the little brother occasionally.
Speaker 4 (21:01):
I mean, this is just who you.
Speaker 15 (21:02):
Are, right, exactly who I am.
Speaker 4 (21:06):
I like a person that that owns who they are.
I respect that. Don't stop that.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
I expect it from mano.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
No, just keep knocking knocking everybody off down town?
Speaker 2 (21:17):
Has it?
Speaker 16 (21:18):
Well?
Speaker 13 (21:18):
I have to show an example now.
Speaker 7 (21:20):
I don't want to be a fought anymore.
Speaker 4 (21:21):
Okay, she's no, it's not. Don't retires. It's too early
that you got it.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
She got it over with. She's like, okay, she got
her get that? What about that? But I will say
the neighbor thing is a little Are you cool with
your neighbor?
Speaker 13 (21:36):
Oh no, we got into it yesterday.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
You ain't really a legend until you knock off a
couple of neighbors.
Speaker 2 (21:41):
Okay, I'm not doing none of that.
Speaker 6 (21:44):
I do with these people.
Speaker 11 (21:48):
Don't so bad?
Speaker 3 (21:52):
Thank you all right for sharing.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
You gotta think who's my neighbor? All right? Well that
was tell us a secret. Eight hundred two nights fifty
fifty is a number. In case you couldn't get through,
you could always leave a message. And when we come back,
we have a yee t. Let's talk about Ice Spice
on the cover of Variety. We'll tell you some of
the things that she had to say about her friendships
and about girls who pretend to be empowering for other women.
(22:15):
It's way up with Angela. Yee.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
Sure she's about to blow the lead ab off this,
but let's get it. Oh yeah, angelus building at yee
te Come and get the tea.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
Are crazy at the Jets game?
Speaker 4 (22:25):
Wow?
Speaker 3 (22:26):
Yes, so a month that's crazy.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
Aside of all that, a lot of people are commenting
on their relationship. Now. Mark Cuban was saying that Taylor
Swift should date a Dallas Mavericks player. Things don't work out, Taylor.
If you're listening, sorry, Travis, break up with him.
Speaker 9 (22:44):
I got a bunch of good looking single guys that
play for the Dallas Mavericks.
Speaker 8 (22:48):
I got you.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
I got you. Wow.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
Because he knows he's a marketing guy and he knows.
You see the amount of attention that this is getting.
And even Jason Kelsey, to Travis's brother, is talking. You know,
he plays for the Eagles, and here's what he had
to say on Sports Radio ninety four on Wednesday.
Speaker 15 (23:09):
Yet, I would hope, but I have no idea.
Speaker 13 (23:12):
I've gotten no inclination.
Speaker 15 (23:14):
From Travis as to what his batting percentage has been
or anything like that.
Speaker 2 (23:20):
Yeah, does he seem more like a gentlemanly, take it
slow guy or is he a all eight cylinders?
Speaker 15 (23:26):
I would say with this one, it definitely seems like
he is going above and beyond to be a gentleman.
Speaker 4 (23:33):
Okay, so yeah, basically asking him did he did he
hit yet?
Speaker 2 (23:36):
Yeah? Or you know, he's a first base so that
just means kissing really yeah, right, isn't thurs base is kissing?
Speaker 3 (23:42):
What's second base?
Speaker 4 (23:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (23:46):
Groping okay, yeah, you could call it that. So and fondling?
What's third base?
Speaker 4 (23:52):
Every every way? Everything?
Speaker 2 (23:53):
Third base is way all the way? Or home run okay?
And then home run is all the way?
Speaker 4 (24:00):
Oh I didn't know that.
Speaker 11 (24:02):
So they hold hands, they holding hands like I've seen
them at the game.
Speaker 3 (24:08):
Yeah, yeah, I mean something going on.
Speaker 2 (24:11):
And speaking of Tiller Swift, by the way, for people
who resell tickets to concerts like a Tayler Swift concert,
Beyonce or even sporting events like lying on Messi's Miami games,
you are now going to have to pay taxes. So
imagine you're reselling your tickets only, and I guess a
lot of times people like cash out the money or
do that in some way finance.
Speaker 3 (24:31):
Unless they give you cash. I guess you could.
Speaker 2 (24:35):
But people put their tickets on stub Hub or ticket
Master to resell them. So now you got to pay
taxes when you think you're getting some profit. I guess
it's like capital gains all right now. Ice Spice is
on the cover of Variety, and she talks about a
lot of different things, including the rumors of her being
an industry plant. She said, a lot of people have
(24:55):
thrown that in my face, like, oh, I've never seen
anything happen so quickly. She needs to be studied or
she's a plan. She said, I just let people believe
whatever they want to believe. To be honest, I don't
really mind all the rumors. At first I did, but
now I'm at a point where I understand that just
comes with this lifestyle. She also talks about her duncan
ad with Ben Affleck, and she says that she is
a marketing efing genius. She said, people be trying to
(25:16):
act like I'm dumb, and I'm just like I'm a
marketing efing genius. I feel like that just comes from
being from New York, having to be quick on your feet,
having to be witty, and having a fast comeback, all right.
In addition, she also talked about her friendships and relationships
with Nicki Minaj and of course, Taylor Swift. She said,
that's my sist about Taylor Swift. We was talking about
(25:36):
a bunch of things. She's so funny. We were sipping
on a little something something, just chatting and vibing and
so yeah. And you know she is working with Nicki
Minaj as well. Nicki Minaj just helping guide her career also,
so yeah, And I saw that it went viral of
also of her just talking about people who pretend that
they want to help and it turns out they really
(25:57):
mean girls behind your back, all right. So that is
I Spice. Make sure you check out that full interview
on her cover for A Variety. And Jez and Genie
Mice still live together even though they're.
Speaker 3 (26:08):
Getting divorced, in the same room.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
According to reports, they just see each other as they're
going in and out and about their business. But I
would think they're not sleeping in the same room. If
it's a little bit awkward for them. They do have
a one year old, I'm sure as they're trying to
figure out what's going to happen. Jeanie miy is still
fighting for her marriage, according to reports.
Speaker 4 (26:28):
Yeah, I've been in a situation like that.
Speaker 11 (26:30):
I know how that feels like when the lady moves
out the room and is on the other side of
the house.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
And you're there like nothing into each other, right, but
you see each other.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
In the kitchen.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
You can't bring anybody home though, right, not at all.
I'd be disrespectful. All right, Well that is your yet,
and when we come back, we have under the radar.
These are the stories that are not necessarily in the headlines,
but we do feel like they're just as important. These
stories are flying under the radar. And I got some
good ones for y'all today. You know the story about
the neighbor, right, this white neighbor that hosed the black
(27:02):
neighbor that was having a gathering with his friends and family.
We're gonna talk about that because imagine you're just having
a nice little dinner outside in your home and then
your neighbor comes out and starts posing.
Speaker 4 (27:13):
Everybody couldn't imagine.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
I would have called man Yeah, it's way up at
Angela Yee. Under the radar. Next news.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
This in the news that relates to you. These stories
are flying under the radar the news news.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
Yes, it is way up at Angela Yee. I'm Angela
Yee and Maino is here.
Speaker 4 (27:34):
Many Eddie, thank you brother.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
Ay it's time for under the radar. The flooding is
so bad here in New York that our board up
Navy's not here. But fortunately the producer for the breakfast
club is filling in right now.
Speaker 4 (27:48):
Hurricane Eddie.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
Don't do this, Okay, you don't run boards, so this
is amazing. He's like, I don't do this, but we
appreciate you.
Speaker 4 (27:57):
Now.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
What I love is Mano gets very fascinated by these
stories too. I was showing him this whole story about
what happened. This was in Queens and it was a
very prominent doctor Eve dor So. He actually is the
first person that took the vaccine, the first doctor in
New York took yeah, that took the vaccine for COVID.
(28:19):
And so his neighbor Marcus Rosebrock actually hosed him and
his guests down. They were having a celebration last year
and it was at his home in Forest Hills, right.
Speaker 3 (28:31):
They were having a nice little party in the backyard, and.
Speaker 2 (28:34):
The neighbor, I guess, didn't like the music that was
playing and wanted them to stop whatever they were doing
in the backyard and hosed all of them down, him
and all of his attendants for the party. One of
the people that was there, the chef, was actually the
winner of Rocco's Dinner Party from Bravo. I mean, it
looked like a very nice event, you know, beautiful group
(28:55):
of people, and as this was happening, the neighbors actually fell.
I mean as it was happening. He actually filmed his neighbor,
Marcus Rosebrock, with the hose. Here's what it sounded like. Yeah,
(29:16):
could never be me, could never Can you imagine?
Speaker 4 (29:20):
I couldn't imagine.
Speaker 3 (29:21):
And they said this was just dehumanizing.
Speaker 11 (29:24):
It's kind of if I'm assaulted, then I have to
assault back, so it would be all bad for me.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
Yeah, So that video has been released.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
He was having a forty seventh birthday party for his
sister and imagine that it was nineteen of them. They
were all black and Latino except for one white guest,
and then the white neighbor came and did that. Now
the white neighbor on his behalf is saying that he
is getting death threats and he fares for his children
after being accused of racism. He's denying racism. He said,
(29:53):
his kids are already scared. We had to let them
know what was going on because there are a lot
of black families in the area.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
But it is not like I've done that, he said.
We're not to inform the school too.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
I'm a class parent and I volunteer at the school,
but we have to tell them because rumors spread. There
is still much more to be discovered about what happened,
but I can't say anymore because my attorney told me
not to. He also says he fears he could lose
the home that he shares with his wife and children
amidst the fear, and he has since been installing additional
security cameras and that this has destroyed them.
Speaker 3 (30:22):
Well, you should think she's like.
Speaker 2 (30:24):
To talk like they Angela Jean, like they Angelie Jean Man.
Speaker 1 (30:28):
She's spilling it all. This is yet way.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
It is a monsoon out here, and New York is
really bad. I'm nervous to go home and see what
my basement looks like with flooding. All right, Well let's
talk about Bobby Altov. And her interview was off set.
It came out yesterday, and she's the one that does
those awkward interviews. She did the one with Drake, she
did Funny Marco, she did Shack, she did Jason Derulo.
(30:54):
But she is getting those interviews, okay, you see, And
there were some awkward moments. Here's one of them where
she tried to come for his outfit and then he responded.
Speaker 17 (31:03):
No, I'm really fly though, and it's like, you don't
get it.
Speaker 13 (31:06):
I was trying to understand, you don't have to be
so mean.
Speaker 17 (31:09):
I'm not being mean.
Speaker 8 (31:09):
I'm not being mean.
Speaker 4 (31:10):
It's just you don't get it.
Speaker 17 (31:11):
So I'm very passionate about the people that don't get
it because they need to get it because they're dressed
like you, and then they be lost, Like why would
you go two thousands tank with the open button up.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
I don't claim to be in the fashion you do if.
Speaker 17 (31:23):
That was the case, and you would have just came
in here with a big ass hitdie on and some sweatpans.
You're really trying to you put that together it's just
not all the way together.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
I mean, he was definitely letting and she looks so
awkward that at the end she told him to leave.
He's like, no, this is my hotel room.
Speaker 11 (31:40):
But my thing is that's what she that's what she does, right,
So that's what she wants. That's the desired effect, right.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
Yeah. I don't know if she's happy about it or not,
because then I think the problem was that after this
ending interview with Deportenet from Barstool, and she was a
completely different person. She was regular, you know, so people
were like, oh, you sit with white people and now
you're okay. But then you do these interviews in our
culture and I think we have a problem with people
(32:08):
like showing up and she acts like she knows nothing
about you.
Speaker 4 (32:12):
But she does.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
Yeah, she does.
Speaker 4 (32:15):
That's why she's doing the interviews.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
Yeah, apparently all right, And speaking of interviews, Bethany Franco's
podcast Be a Good Person Anny Leaks was on and
she was talking about the treatment that she got on
Bravo as a black girl compared to the White housewives
on Bravo. Here's what she had to say.
Speaker 14 (32:32):
My fement is one hundred percent different on the show
than yours. My feelings were they You must say, if
that black Vicki is back over there working and everything
is fine, Lisa van derpromp walk off the show, never returned.
She still got band a prop and she can still
sit over there and talk to him all day long
if she want to. Teresa can go to prison and
(32:52):
stay for ten years, and they'll wait till she get
back and then the show will start again. Okay, But
the black girls do not get that saying treatment right.
Speaker 2 (33:02):
And she talks about a lot of different specific instances
when filming the show, also about being the only original
housewife on the show and how she was only given
six episodes out of the eighteen, and she said the
reason they told her was we can tell you're unhappy,
but all the original housewives on the white shows would
be on all the episodes, And she said Bravo executives
allegedly tried to pressure her into confronting Candy during a
(33:25):
pivotal season and she refused to do it because of
the Black Lives Matter movement. She didn't want to engage
in conflicts within the cast, and they wanted her to
come for Candy and she just wouldn't, all right, So
a lot of things to unwrap here, and I feel
like she's been saying this, you know, for quite some time.
So hopefully, if anything, they can address this in a
(33:46):
way to positively do things differently in the future and
take her concerns at face value and as valid. All right. Now,
Home Depot is saying that Survillians footage shows that Tyrese
is lying about racism. He has a one million dollar
lawsuit against them, and they said that there is video
evidence backing them up. They responded to Tyresee's lawsuit and
(34:09):
they said that he came into their store, I bought
a bunch of items, to the cash register, the cashier
scanned everything. He then went back for more shopping. He
left the register for twenty five minutes. The cashier cleared
out his transaction. And now Tyrese is saying that there
was a computer glitch that caused a delay, and he
believes because of that delay, people started recognizing him. He
felt uncomfortable. He went to the parking lot instead of
staying around, and that's when the people who were in
(34:33):
the store did not finish the purchase with his card.
Speaker 3 (34:37):
They yeah, so we had to come back.
Speaker 4 (34:38):
Here is the footage show.
Speaker 2 (34:42):
I guess he's saying that Tysse walked away to do
some more shopping and was gone, so the cashier had
to clear everything out. It wasn't a glitch. I guess.
I don't know, but Tyresese posted he was one of
Trump's largest donors, giving seven million dollars to his campaign.
When Marcus announced in twenty nineteen that he would financially
support the Donald Trump twenty twenty presidential campaign, it took
a calls for a boycott of Home Depot, and he
(35:02):
said the Trump supporter attempts to slander me. I should
have known the fact that spent ten millions in your establishment.
The footage of your team and stats blatant racism and
discrimination is very clear. So we'll see where this lawsuit goes.
All right, well that is your yeete. And you know
it's a Friday, so you know we got new music
Friday today. A lot of new music is out today.
(35:25):
I'm trying to find album sales numbers from last week
because I know there were some new albums out last week.
We want to see how people do anybody we know,
I gotta see. I'm waiting for the numbers to come out,
but new music Friday, we'll talk about it. It's way
up at Angela Yee. Hey yay. She back at it
with is on what's up this way up at the
(35:47):
Angela Yee. I'm Angela yee. And of course Jasmine Brand
is here with me. Yes, I'm here, and Mona Scott
Young is here also, I'm here. Now you're lucky. I
still talk to you because last time I saw you,
I beat you.
Speaker 10 (35:59):
S what happened?
Speaker 16 (36:03):
Oh no, no, no, not like that. Oh jesus, I
don't believe that cooking competition.
Speaker 2 (36:09):
Yeah, don't say it like that.
Speaker 16 (36:11):
That was pretty impressive because she was talking a lot
of smash us.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
I just want to us.
Speaker 16 (36:17):
No, no, no, I brought my own combination of marination.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
See that wasn't allowed, did they?
Speaker 16 (36:24):
I don't remember that.
Speaker 2 (36:25):
But anyway, after I was done, but I want chicken
is a great cook? Oh thank you?
Speaker 11 (36:33):
You know?
Speaker 2 (36:34):
Did you taste my jerk that day? Yet? I tasted
a little bit?
Speaker 10 (36:36):
Yes, it was good.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
All right, Well, let's get into it because so many
things are happening. What we're talking about today, though, is
a new film series, Love and Murder Atlanta Playboy, I
like to say it like that Love and Murder, and
he did it actually starring in it, And there's a
lot of cameo appearances in it.
Speaker 16 (36:55):
Yes, Tate Diggs and Keisha Sharp, she doesn't have such
a great chemistry together.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
So it's two parts, right, it's two parts. Yes, And
I'm not going to give anything away by saying this,
because they tell you in the very first line.
Speaker 10 (37:06):
Yes, what happens?
Speaker 2 (37:08):
The whole point of it is.
Speaker 16 (37:09):
Yeah, it's a passion thriller, right, it's a passion thriller.
It's based on this guy, Lance Herndon back in the
late nineties.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
He was like a.
Speaker 16 (37:17):
Huge tech entrepreneur, one of the first black tech entrepreneurs
in Atlanta.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
He was a local.
Speaker 16 (37:22):
Celebrity, all the fly parties and the fancy cars, and
he had a huge house. But he also was and
like notorious and notorious woman eyed.
Speaker 3 (37:32):
It felt like he had a sex addiction.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
Yes, yes, it did, it did, Yes, yes, it is,
it is.
Speaker 4 (37:39):
It is.
Speaker 16 (37:40):
It's a rip from the headline story and you can
realize that you can actually google yeah yeah, yeah, he's uh.
Speaker 10 (37:45):
Well this makes it even more juici or exactly.
Speaker 16 (37:48):
So he was like this huge womanizer so I mean
when he was brutally murdered, it was this hole who
done it because he had so many women, He had
all these business partners that we're trying to get rid
of him because he was taking over on the business scene.
Speaker 2 (38:04):
So it was one of those you know, that's so interesting.
We just had so one of our friends from Detroit, right,
Dennis Read He does these series. So Shanquela Robinson, the
woman who was unfortunately murdered, I saw that when you
guys the best, right, And so the family was very
upset with him for actually doing some but they changed
the names. The storyline was different, but it was inspired
(38:27):
by but it was definitely inspired by a true story.
And so sometimes it's kind of like and I get
it because we love a true story. We love something
that's inspired by real things that have happened, and sometimes
it does help reopen you know, yeah, because I think
you mentioned that that it got attention around the case.
But sometimes you know, it's a little early, right, right, Sometimes.
Speaker 10 (38:45):
Yeah, this is too soon.
Speaker 3 (38:47):
And this is from a while from nineteen ninety six.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
Yeah, exactly did you all.
Speaker 10 (38:51):
Have a conversation with a family or had they ever?
Speaker 2 (38:54):
I know, because there was already a book.
Speaker 16 (38:56):
This was an adeporation of a book, so there had
already been a book written. And if you look it up,
there are all those true crime shows. This story in
particular has been covered on a few of those crime shows, right,
But you figure not that it gets any easier, But
I think that's also something to take into consideration right time.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
Like when we were doing hip.
Speaker 16 (39:13):
Hop Homicides, that was definitely something that we, you know,
worked on and we did that pop smoke story mainly
because of fifties involvement, right and his attachment. But you know,
you just kind of want to let a little bit
of time go by for the family.
Speaker 2 (39:28):
Right now, Jasmine Brandon and I are talking to Monas
got Young and you've worked with Missy Elliott from the beginning.
Speaker 16 (39:34):
From the beginning, the very beginning, and we're having like
a crazy year in this the fiftieth year of hip hop, so.
Speaker 2 (39:40):
You've been with her throughout and still.
Speaker 4 (39:42):
Throughout her entire career.
Speaker 2 (39:43):
Yeah, you know, that's amazing because Missy Elliott seems like
the coolest person, by the way, first hip hop woman
to be inducted into the rock and roll HOLI face Maper.
That has to feel good man to have somebody like
Missy who's like you know, y'alla clearly like ride a
dive for each other from the beginning, you must know everything.
Speaker 10 (40:01):
And she's so chill, likes very like down.
Speaker 16 (40:05):
Miss is incredible passionate because she's a cancer, but she's
also very private. So it's it's beyond a client, you know,
manager relationship, right, it's a friendship.
Speaker 2 (40:15):
It's a sisterhood.
Speaker 16 (40:16):
We go at it like she always says that, oh,
of course, really yes, because she's hardheaded, so I know, yeah,
but but butt heads in a healthy way. Like she
just is very passionate about the thing she's passionate about,
and so you know, she doesn't need yes men around her, right,
nobody needs yes men around them. And that's I think
(40:37):
a lot of times why I end up like like
she'll say, boy, you are so brutally honest, you'll just
keep it a thousand you don't care. It's not that
I don't care, it's just I don't need to blow
smoke up.
Speaker 10 (40:48):
You know, there's so many other things.
Speaker 2 (40:49):
There are so many other people that will I don't
need to be one of those.
Speaker 10 (40:52):
What's the silliest argument you and Missy have gotten.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
Into the silliest.
Speaker 16 (40:58):
It'll be something like, you know, number of dancers, Like
Missy wants what she wants and that's the end of
the story, right, And for twenty something years, my job
has been to make it happen. And so you know,
it'll be like I want forty dancers on that stage.
Well the stage only holds ten. You know, like, well,
I don't know what you're gonna do because I need
(41:18):
for your dancers on it exactly, And sure enough they have.
There's forty dancers on it.
Speaker 2 (41:22):
And bringing it to today, you have Scarlet. Yeah, wait,
tell us how that happened. We just love Scarlet, you
know what.
Speaker 16 (41:28):
Buster is another one that I have a close relationship to,
and he and Swiss Meets actually tag teamed and was like.
Speaker 4 (41:36):
We need to talk to you.
Speaker 2 (41:37):
We need to talk to you.
Speaker 16 (41:38):
And that went on for like a couple of weeks
and I was like, okay, okay, what is it And
Bussea was like, yo, we need you on this. And
he said that first, that was a bad impersonation of us.
I feel like I have a better Buster impersonation. He
was just like, I need you to check out this
young girl, right, and so he sent me the page
and then my husband, who is like, look, you do
(41:58):
not need one more thing on your plate, he you know,
checked it out as well and was like.
Speaker 4 (42:03):
Yo, you gotta do this.
Speaker 2 (42:03):
There's something special about her because I'm sure a lot
of people have come to you before that and then
like can you manage this person or can you work
with me? So for some reason, Scarlet as a newer,
younger artist, you really took to her.
Speaker 16 (42:14):
Yeah, because there was something about you know, not only
what she had been through, but it was more her
heart that she wanted this so badly, right, And I
always say talent is just one small piece of the puzzle.
Speaker 4 (42:27):
People.
Speaker 16 (42:28):
You know, there's a lot of talented people out there,
but they're all the other things that come along with it.
The drive, the fire and the belly, you know, and
her backstory, you know, everything that she'd been through and
the fact that she was able to channel that into
her music. I felt like, Okay, Dna activated got to
(42:48):
put the hat back on and get back in there,
and you know, built a team around her. Shout out
to Treva Williams. And you know my partner is de
salute the General Alima. So it's just like we've built
this village around her, her Busta. You know everybody from Cardi,
you've seen Mary J. Blige, you know everybody who's just like.
Speaker 10 (43:07):
There was embracing her, embracing all right.
Speaker 2 (43:10):
Mona Scott Young is here and we're talking about everything,
even things we're not supposed to, like love and hip hop.
But you know, how can we not talk about love
and hip hop? But Mona Scott Young and she has
a new show on B E T Plus. It's called
Love and Murder Atlanta Playboy. It's way up at Angela Yee.
Speaker 4 (43:26):
Hey, Yeah, she back at it.
Speaker 1 (43:33):
Way up with Angela Ye is on What's Up?
Speaker 2 (43:35):
Its way up with Angela Yee. I'm Angela ye. Jasmine
Brand is here and we're talking to Mona sc got
Young because we're talking about Love and Murder Atlanta Playboy.
There's no way we cannot also notice there are a
lot of people from love and hip hop features. Yeah,
we saw Carlie Red, April, jo Jack and Andy.
Speaker 10 (43:53):
I have a question about using talent from a loving
hip hop Do you ever feel pressure, you know, like
I need to know look.
Speaker 2 (44:00):
Not at all, I mean not listen.
Speaker 16 (44:02):
I don't feel no it's really about, here's an opportunity.
I know these guys want to expand their brand, expand
on their talents.
Speaker 2 (44:10):
They can act, you.
Speaker 16 (44:11):
Know what I'm saying a lot of them are really good,
and so when the opportunity is there, I always just
call and say, hey, I'm doing this project.
Speaker 2 (44:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 16 (44:19):
When I directed my first short, I called the Andy.
You know, she did a great job with that. Now
with this project so yeah, and Carly too, She's been
acting forever. Jock, I think is just a phenomenal tale,
like he just needs to be acting on a regular basis.
Speaker 2 (44:34):
He does.
Speaker 10 (44:34):
He's funny to me, He's not to be funny.
Speaker 16 (44:36):
No, that's what he's got natural comedic timing. But I
also think he's really versatile and can do you know,
something more dramatic as well?
Speaker 10 (44:45):
Maybe, Oh Jesus, you know that's.
Speaker 2 (44:49):
A good idea. He's right right now. That's where it's kind.
Speaker 16 (44:53):
Of like, because of course everybody feels like, oh, why
you did this and you didn't do.
Speaker 10 (44:58):
I'm sure people think you have a favorite, going to say.
Speaker 2 (45:01):
I've heard it over and over. Everybody thinks, oh, Yandy's
your favorite. No, it's just that she should. No, you
know what it is.
Speaker 16 (45:08):
She's been with me. Remember Yandy started with me as
an intern.
Speaker 2 (45:13):
She wasn't even originally going to be on Loving.
Speaker 16 (45:17):
I was constantly like, girl, you should be doing this.
You know, you can represent a whole different, you know,
side of women in hip hop, the business side of things,
and she was like, no, no, no, okay.
Speaker 2 (45:29):
And listen. So you've been tied to that franchise for
so long and every time something goes yeah, every time
something goes wrong. Mona Scott Young is the person that
people always go to, and I don't know that you
still handle day to day.
Speaker 16 (45:42):
Listen, it has been thirteen years. That machine is self sustaining.
I'm not in the field, and I know it's hard
for people to understand that, which is why you know,
it's like a double ed sword, right. You can't be like, oh,
here I am to provide the opportunities and for the
accolades and then be like, oh that back right, don't
bump me with the backlash. So I know that people
(46:04):
are going to have their narratives what they want to believe,
and I'm not about to sit there like this going
back and forth. Right, handled, Well, that was very simply
that the network had put out their statement and they
had handled it. So people were coming to me, and
what they don't understand is, at this point I see
the show on the same.
Speaker 2 (46:24):
Basis that they see the show.
Speaker 16 (46:25):
Okay, so you write, I'm not you know, I'm not
involved with the cuts anymore.
Speaker 2 (46:30):
I'm not in the field. The castle will tell you this.
Speaker 16 (46:32):
There is actually there's a group of black women on
the ground making this show the whole idea that everything.
But that's been since they won, right, So it's hard
for me to say at this point while I wasn't there,
and so I let it ride and I hope that
it you know, you hope that it rides out and
it corrects itself, because I do believe that, you know,
(46:55):
the network saw this as a teachable moment, right. I
know that they did some kind of a digital piece
at the end of this. But yeah, I'm not day
to day on the franchise anymore. I'm making movies now,
Love and Murder, Atlanta play Boy, I'm doing scripted, making
movies expanding. You know, created a platform, created an opportunity, right,
(47:17):
put it in the hands of folks. Shout out to
the Shan Browning Antwinette Media, Donna Edge, Rochelle.
Speaker 2 (47:23):
There was a team, you know, a black women doing
the show.
Speaker 16 (47:30):
I'm just saying, but I get it, though, I understand
why people still we're going to always associate heavily associate,
exactly heavily associated. And look, I'm proud of the platform.
I'm proud of the opportunities that has presented. I think
we've seen a lot of good come from it in
terms of what the cast has been able to go
on and do, and you know, they've prospered and so you.
Speaker 2 (47:53):
Know, and I think even the fact that certain people
that you've been in this industry with still want to
work with you, like fifty cent of course, Elliott, like
your bust a rhyme rhymes, yeah, speak a lot to
how people see how you move behind the scenes exactly
people who know me. That's why on my page it
says if you don't know me personally, I can't take
it personal. Well, thank you so much for coming through,
(48:15):
and I know as things are developing with all these
new projects, you're gonna give us a little heads up.
Speaker 16 (48:20):
Absolutely, so we have this. I love this way up connection.
I love this duo.
Speaker 2 (48:26):
So thank you for having me do you ever walk
out of interviews and be like, damn.
Speaker 4 (48:31):
No, I would have said it in the room.
Speaker 2 (48:33):
No, all right, well Mona Scott Young you guys make
sure you check out Love and Murder. Oh sorry, thank
you Love and Murder Atlanta Playboy on b Et plus
Parts one and part two.
Speaker 16 (48:45):
Absolutely, thank you so much for having me, ladies.

Speaker 2 (49:33):
Okay, all right, so you live in Virginia. So now
why are you coming to New York.
Speaker 15 (49:37):
I need to do something different. I'm turning thirty five
and people always say do something big thirty fifth. Oh
and you know New York is close, you know, so
I figured there's something to do.
Speaker 2 (49:47):
No, that is nice. Now, if somebody was coming to
town for the birthday, they're turning thirty five, right, MANA,
what are some things that we would tell them that
they need to make sure they do?
Speaker 4 (49:55):

the Chelsea your house?

but I'm trying to get out.
Speaker 4 (50:34):
Whoa whoa, whoa, whoa whoa. I don't know if that
was an insult or not. Bruh, not like relo.
Speaker 2 (50:41):
Yeah, okay, well look the six I'm actually having a party.
You should come to that. That's it's going to be
downtown Manhattan that Daily Paper. I have my coffee uplifts
People's shop inside of the store, and it's our last
party because we were doing these parties all summer and
so it was supposed to be today, but because of
the rain washed and everything out, it's going to be
next week. So come see me at Daily Paper. It
(51:04):
is like an afterwork thing. So it's from four to
eight and we'll toast to you on that day at
Daily Paper and then do you let who are you
coming with? All right? So yeah, bring all your friends.
Speaker 4 (51:17):

Maybe we'll be here to strip club so you could
do that.
Speaker 15 (51:25):
What about how about that?
Speaker 4 (51:28):
Now I'm not having an event, I'm just inventing.
Speaker 7 (51:32):
Club.
Speaker 2 (51:33):
Yeah, I mean, you'll just be there I would have
told you to go to some Broadway plays if you
was going with on a date.
Speaker 15 (51:39):
To Michael Jackson. Because of you you talk about Toph MJ.
Speaker 2 (51:42):
The musical. That's an amazing play, especially if you're a
big Michael Jackson fan. Yes, absolutely. And then Chelsea House
other great restaurants. When you go to the play Brooklyn
Chop Houses right now, it's right down the blocks. I
would make a reservation. There's fun, the music is good,
it's a good vibe.
Speaker 3 (51:59):
Ley is right there too.
Speaker 2 (52:01):
You should go to Legos. Legos is fun. And they
do in there, right, don't they want to have Yeah,
they have hookah in there, so if you guys like hookah,
definitely would be some nice you know ladies in there.
Speaker 15 (52:12):

Speaker 1 (52:47):

What the word is? Here's the last word on Way
Up with angela Ye.
Speaker 2 (52:56):
What's happens? Way up with angela Ye? I'm Angela yee
and Mano is here right and breaking news. It looks
like the person a person has been arrested for killing
Tupac Shakur. Twenty seven years later in nineteen ninety six, Yes,
Dwayne Keethy d Davis And if you guys.
Speaker 3 (53:14):
Recall he was saying that he knew who did.
Speaker 4 (53:16):
It, right.
Speaker 11 (53:16):
See, his problem was he was telling the whole story.
He thought he had immunity, so he was going on
all these podcasts and telling the story, and it was
he was against him. So he went did this book,
He went and did all this stuff.
Speaker 4 (53:29):
See what happened.
Speaker 11 (53:29):
He had got arrested for some conspiracy and then he
turned state's evidence. He told and then I guess he
thought that he had immunity that he could just tell
his story. So after he got out of prison, he's
just been telling the.
Speaker 4 (53:41):
Story and who listen.
Speaker 2 (53:44):
Yeah, he had his memoir Compton Street legend. And right
now we don't have full details. We don't know the
exact charge. It's not immediately clear, but he was arrested
early this morning. May know, you actually shot Tupac in
the movie.
Speaker 4 (53:58):
In the movie, people don't.
Speaker 2 (53:59):
Like you from that in the movie and not.
Speaker 4 (54:02):
Like I had. I had some problems.
Speaker 11 (54:04):
I have some smoke about that, and that's just a
movie reacted.
Speaker 2 (54:07):
You know what. But people don't think about that like
when you play a role. Yeah, so I mean I
think you know, that's fascinating. This happened back in nineteen
ninety six and he had previously admitted to being in
the Cadillac and no rest have ever been made in
the twenty seven years since his murder. But there's going
to be more details, I'm sure as as we keep
(54:28):
following this story.
Speaker 3 (54:29):
Okay, all right, well that is our day.
Speaker 2 (54:33):
Shout out to Mona Scott Young for joining us, and
make sure you watch her movie that's on b ET
plus Love and Murder. Another thing we'll be watching is
to fight this weekend fight fight now, right, Canelo versus Charlo.
You said you have I'm going with Canelo Albarette.
Speaker 4 (54:48):
But you said before off ed list you just want
to bet against against you. We didn't even bet. You
just don't want to be on the same team.
Speaker 2 (54:57):
Out for ready, can get your outfit ready?
Speaker 4 (55:00):
All right?
Speaker 2 (55:01):
You guys always have the last word. Let's do it.
It's way up with Angela.
Speaker 5 (55:04):
Yee, good morning. My name is Jeffery Hill. I'm from
the mississip the Gulf Coast, and I want to shine
a light on myself. I have a community overage program
called Better Way Your Options Saving our Youth LLC. And
I'm just a local guy who did twenty two years.
I go out and share my testimony with the youth,
and I just recently made a three minute video that
(55:26):
has over a million views, and I just want to
shine the light on that it ain't the mistake you
make in life. This response to the area that count.
I don't know a million people, but my missage have
reached a million people, and I thank God for that.
My name is Jeffrey Hill.
Speaker 17 (55:41):
Hey, Angela.
Speaker 5 (55:42):
I figured this one the time I was messing with
this one girl.
Speaker 6 (55:44):
She had a dude, but she never told me who
it was. When I found out who.
Speaker 15 (55:48):
It was, it was one of my homeboys, and it
was so damn good.
Speaker 6 (55:51):
I couldn't even start messing around with us. So we
messed around for light the past year.
Speaker 13 (55:55):
Hi Angela, love your show as always, and Maino, I
just want to say to say you were talking about
your throat and being kind of itchy and raspy. I
would suggest to you that you get some clothes tea.
You can boil the clothes, or you can just buy
the tea bags and drink that on a regular and
you'll find that it'll be a change in the throat.
(56:16):
It's great for public speakers also to use raw honey.
You can suck on the raw honey or you can
add it to your tea. And because you're so active,
you know, just make sure you get a little downtime
in for yourself, little meditation, and you be back to
normal in new time. God bles us have a good day.
Speaker 10 (56:32):
I'm going to show the light on my cousin Mercedes.
Speaker 2 (56:35):
Today's her birthday.
Speaker 13 (56:37):
Sadie's is a great mom, great family, a good friend
and she's just always there for everybody.
Speaker 8 (56:43):
And I love you.
Speaker 14 (56:43):
Sadies, Happy birthday,
