Speaker 1 (00:01):
You are now.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
What I called her yee way.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
Up with Angela Yee was good. It is a Thursday.
This would be what dasm Baron calls her favorite day
of the week.
Speaker 4 (00:23):
Now.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
I was walking to work today and I know everybody
was in a frenzy over this Sexy Red sex tape
that was leaked, and I just want to say I
feel bad. I mean, she said she didn't do it.
I know it was on her timeline. I don't know
if someone put it out that had her phone, or
was it accident or whatever might have happened. We'll discuss
that later. But when something like that happened, somebody's family
(00:44):
sees it. People that you don't want to see something
like that. So I know people are talking about it, commented,
making it go viral, but it is something that I
could imagine would be very traumatizing for a person if
that's not the intention. So you know, I just want
to send some positive energy out to Sexy Red today
because I can't even imagine. She says she's heartbroken. So yeah,
(01:07):
that happened. But we have a great show for you today.
Of course, you guys, as you know, we are partying.
It's a Thursday. Does that mean we got to get
my special coffee drinks up here today? Just for full disclosure,
I have a coffee machine, an espresso machine from Deloggi
in the studio and my coffee coffee uplifts people and
I'm able to make espresso shots for everybody. So I
(01:28):
think that's how we're gonna do this Thursday. Because it's
been a long week, guys, and so many things to
talk about today. But in the meantime, let's get the
show started with some positive energy. Let's spread some love,
you know, that's what we do up here on way
up at Angela Yee. The number is eight hundred two
nine two fifty one fifty. If you want to say
something positive about somebody, if you want to show some
love to somebody who's done something amazing, whether it's in
(01:49):
the news or somebody you know personally, now is the
time to shine a light. That's eight hundred nine two
fifty one fifty. It's way up at Angela Yee.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
I'm shave, I'm shin.
Speaker 5 (01:59):
Turn your life on, y'all, spreading love to those who
are doing greatness.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
Shanna light on them, shine a light on. It's time
to shine a light on them.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
What's up? His way up with Angela Yee on a Thursday,
coming up shortly after Shina Light, We're going to have
a special guest host, Larry Morrow is going to be here,
So everybody listening to New Orleans, I know we're excited
for that, but also really kind of worldwide. But I
want to shine a light on somebody who's a good
friend of mine. Ada Rodriguez, comedian, director, producer in words
(02:32):
that's available now. She's also produced specials for other comedians
and she's always trying to make sure that she uplifts
those people. So I love the work that she's doing,
and I feel like with Ida, she's a type of
friend that she's always got a really good sense of
morality about her. I know a lot of times there's
people that will do anything to make it in this
business and to forget about people who she worked with
(02:55):
on the come up and along the way, But she
definitely is the type of person that is rooted in her.
He takes a break from people period sometimes to protect
her own energy. So just showing you some love. I
had a legitimate kid. Her memoir is coming out on
October seventeenth. Now, who do you guys, want to show
some love to who do you want to shine a
light on? Eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty
is the number. Good morning, who's this good morning?
Speaker 6 (03:17):
My name is Irene I Reck.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
Good morning. You got great energy this morning.
Speaker 7 (03:23):
God, Thank you.
Speaker 8 (03:24):
I mean I listening to you every morning. I will
uber guys like Angelie. Do you know I stay tune
into your station. My passagers have no choice but to
listen to your station. When I'm listening to it.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
I love it amazing.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Now, thank you so much to you. Want to shine
a light on.
Speaker 8 (03:39):
On my mother, me, my siblings, the family that God
blessed me with. I'm going through something right now with
my life and they are my back bone supporters who
shout out on my mom Jean, my brother Abijah, my
brother Leyo, my brother dd Alfaret, and my sister Zapio.
I have three little ones. Anytime I need anything without
(04:00):
any hesitation, they are always wanting.
Speaker 9 (04:03):
To help me.
Speaker 8 (04:04):
So I want to shine a light on them because
they're doing an amazing job to help me with everything
that I'm going through.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
I love to hear that. All right, Well, let's shine
a light on them. You deserve it.
Speaker 7 (04:13):
Thank you.
Speaker 6 (04:14):
I keep doing thing. I'm loving it.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
Thank you, Johnny. Who do you want to shine a
light on this morning?
Speaker 10 (04:23):
My pastor, pastor Scheduer and Debra cark On.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Okay, it wasn't.
Speaker 10 (04:29):
If it wasn't for them, my probably wouldn't be here today.
I'm a veteran. So they helped me through a very
very bad time.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
Well, first of all, thank you for your service.
Speaker 4 (04:39):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
We appreciate you. And you want to shine a light
on you as well. But I am so glad to
hear that. So you're able to go to terrace talk
to your pastor.
Speaker 10 (04:48):
Yeah, for three years I was in my car, so
they helped me a lot.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
Oh that's a blessing. All right. Well, that's a great
couple to shine a light on this morning. That was
shining light. And when we come back, we have your yeet.
We'll talk about this sexy red leak that happened online.
We'll also talk about black China. There was a report
about her selling all her personal belongings because she needed
to make ends meet. While she clears that up, it's
way yup with Angela Yee.
Speaker 5 (05:13):
They say in the rooms from industry shade.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
To all of the gossip out Angela's speeling that.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
Ye yes, it's way yup with Angela Yee. I'm Angela
Yee and I have a special guest co host here
with me today. Larry Morrow is here with me, straight
out of New Orleans. Listen, and we're gonna talk more
about you in a second. Talking to the microphone. I
know you used to this. I saw you and earn
your leisure. Also, my guy Canaan is here with me,
and Kanaan is the person who I always call up
(05:42):
when we have some issues on ask ye that are
above me. But let's get into some yet. First, Sexy Red, Now,
there was a sex tape of her that was leaked
online and it was deleted quickly. But as soon as
I walk up today, I saw that she was trending,
So I was like, why is she trending? And so
I see a lot of people commenting on it, and
(06:03):
she posted I'm so heartbroken. Anybody that know me knows
I wouldn't do no goofy ish like that, So I
can just imagine what that must feel like your heart
drops down, because that was not ever the intention.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
No, No, I personally think that, you know, I get
people the benefit of the doubt. I don't think that
she intentionally posted it. I think sometimes things happen.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
You accidentally might put something and.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
You know, whatever she's doing, it's totally up to her.
But man, I hope that, you know, prayers off for her,
hope she can get through this. And you know, I
saw the video, but you know, I didn't think too
much of it.
Speaker 7 (06:37):
It's like you know.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
What us we don't, but for the person that's happening
to a whole yeah story right, And Kanaan, I know
you have something to say about this.
Speaker 11 (06:47):
I say, let's be patient right now. Let's see where
the money train ends.
Speaker 7 (06:52):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 11 (06:53):
Because you speak, you speak things into existence, you know
what I mean, Like nothing against the art or whatever.
Speaker 7 (07:00):
But you speak things into existence.
Speaker 11 (07:02):
So we can think that it might not have been intentional,
or it may have been intentional.
Speaker 7 (07:08):
Who knows, you know, back the end of the.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
Day, have you ever posted something by accident in your
story that you didn't mean to and then like ooh,
let me delete this real fast. I think I might
have done that, nothing like that, but like you know, oh,
I didn't mean to post that.
Speaker 11 (07:20):
Like perhaps there's a couple of steps that you have
to take in order to post something.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
I've definitely done it, though, I'm gonna say, and it
was nothing like harmful, but it was the wrong post.
I've done that, so I can get it. And sometimes
you also want to I never do this, but share
it to your group of friends or send it to
somebody privately, and you might accidentally post something that you
meant to share privately. So it could be something like
that too.
Speaker 7 (07:41):
That's possible too, all right.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
Now, Black China, there was a story about her selling
her personal belongings because she needs to make ends meet financially,
and she actually cleared up what she was really doing.
Because Black China aka Angela because we call her Angela
white now she doesn't go by Black China anymore. She
recently sat down with entertainment nice Michelle Turner to talk
about why she's been selling things.
Speaker 12 (08:04):
I feel like a lot of things hold energy, right,
And we had discussed this before and I just kind
of wanted a fresh start. And I don't think nothing's
wrong with selling like your old stuff. Now at this
point in my life, I don't really value materialistic things.
Yeah it looks nice, but it's like, why go out
and grind for this money to go and spend it
on something that could potentially just disappear.
Speaker 7 (08:25):
Walk about your house.
Speaker 9 (08:26):
You might lead us somewhere.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
Yeah, I agree with that. As we've been making investments,
you realize, like Larry, you sold your rolex in order
to start a business.
Speaker 7 (08:37):
Yep, yep. Well with to buy some real estate.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
To buy some real estate.
Speaker 7 (08:40):
So that's when I was twenty five years old. It
was a great investment.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
So you know, it was an intentional move to put
myself in a different position.
Speaker 7 (08:48):
Right, So I'm all forward if she's making that move
to put.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
Herself in a different financial position, because you can always
go buy more material.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
Things, and sometimes things are also increase in value. You're like, okay,
I've sold sneakers before pay for flooring.
Speaker 11 (09:01):
You know.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
I had got a pair of limited edition sneakers and
I sold them right on stock X and got some floors.
I was like, these floors caused how much? Let me
sell these sneakers mark, you know, And sometimes you do
that and I also feel like there's things I don't use.
So I might have all these bags at home and
I'm like, I don't even wear these are use them.
I might as well, sell them, clear out some space,
and sometimes you realize you don't need to get all
(09:22):
those material things. So give kudos to her. I give
away a lot of things too, but Chanel bags, I'll
probably sell all right. Tamar Braxton man, I feel bad
for her because she was going through it. You know,
she had her car broken into, and she put up
a really heartbreaking post when that happened. She said, imagine
your home being rib moving to a new city, trying
(09:43):
to find your new tribe, never finding where you fit in,
and then finally settling in with at least one person
you trust to get in your car wrapped and vandalized
and broken up with from the person you love and
feel safe with, all in the same hour. So what
we found out was not only did her car get
broken into, but in the same her boyfriend dumped her
and broke up with him.
Speaker 7 (10:03):
He break in the car.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
No, I don't think. I don't think he was even
around when that happened. You know, she said, I was
only telling you about my situation so you can reflect
on your own situation. Nothing happened to me, it happened
for me. I'm no victim. I'm a survivor. And that's
the only attitude that you can have sometimes when things
like that happen. Right, Yeah, So prayers to u Tamar Braxton.
I actually ran into her and I guess now her
(10:27):
ex at a party for Zuri Patti Labelle's son his
birthday party. They were there together, so that seemed like
a real relationship. You know, they met on the series
Queen's Court, and it looked like things are going well
until they weren't. All right, well, that is your yet,
and when we come back, we have about last night.
That's when we discussed things that we did last night
that we feel like are relevant for you guys to understand.
(10:48):
I had a rough day yesterday because I was flying
in from Detroit, but we'll talk about it. It's way
up with Angela Yee, Larry Morrow is here, and Kanaan
Jasper is here.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
So about last night. Last night, last night I went down.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
Yes, it's way up with Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee,
and Larry Murrow is here from the Infamous Morrows and
Treehouse and Sung Chong is that the name of the
newest is a new restaurant in New Orleans. Yep, all right,
And Canaan Jasper Brooklyn Zone is here with me, the
person I turned to when we need some extra help
for ask ye people who call in, and we have
one for you today. By the way, you're not here
(11:25):
for no reason. But let's talk about what we did
last night.
Speaker 7 (11:28):
Now.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
You know, I was in Detroit and I flew back
home yesterday. But I missed my flight in the morning,
which was awful, right. I set my alarm to get
up at four thirty in the morning to make this
particular flight, and I don't know if it didn't go
off or it did and not shut it off, but
I missed my flight and I ended up having to
buy a whole new flight. Guess how much the new
flight was one way from Detroit? Nine hundred dollars.
Speaker 7 (11:50):
So did you actually go to the airport?
Speaker 3 (11:52):
No, I didn't even be cause I knew I was
gonna make it, so I said, let me just buy
And the flight was only thirty minutes later than the
one I was supposed to be on. But I had
to get back, you know, for work, and so yes,
so I ended up having to spend all of that
money just to make.
Speaker 7 (12:05):
It back into Well, at least she wasn't in the
airport and miss it that it hurt.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
Yeah, airport certainly hurt. And the only reason I couldn't
do Sundays I had to fly to a different airport
in order to get so, instead of flying to LaGuardia,
I had to fly to JFK. So that's why I
had to buy a whole new flight. Now, you guys
are well Canaan, you're from Brooklyn. But Lara, you're here
doing some work. And so what did you do yesterday?
Speaker 2 (12:28):
So yesterday I landed, laid down, went to Pergola with
some homies, okay, hookahs, spot yep eight, had a good time,
go back to my room. I paid for the tab
and when I made it back, well, I woke up
this morning and realized that I either left my wallet
or lost it.
Speaker 7 (12:45):
So right now I'm currently gonna have a wallet.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
I like that he either left it or lost and
not that someone took it.
Speaker 7 (12:50):
I mean that.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
I paid the tab. I paid the tab, we left,
and I went straight to my room. Okay, now so
I just more not checking. I'm like gone, so I
have my homie check his car.
Speaker 3 (13:02):
So that is the worst feeling is you're a wallet.
Because first thing I'm thinking is is somebody using my
credit cards? Do they have my ID? Did you check
to make sure nobody's using your card?
Speaker 2 (13:12):
I checked this morning. Nobody use them. So I'm just curious.
You know, I'm gonna go back to the pergola and
check to see if maybe somebody turned it in.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
Yeah, I just want to say, you better lock your
cards now I've had I'm gonna do that. I'm the
type of person I'm always like losing things. So one
time I was in La it was a wonderful night out.
We were I think BT Awards out all night partying.
I lost my wallet and had to catch a flight
in the morning back and so you know, you can
get on the plane without it. So what happens is
(13:41):
you have to go early and then they make a
phone call and they ask you a bunch of security questions.
But depending on how busy the airport is, it might
take them an hour to get to you to be
able to do that, and they're like, what is your
mother's maiden name? What address you know did you used
to live at? And it's like all these security questions
they ask you, and then they'll let you on the.
Speaker 7 (14:00):
Flight right with clear and pre check like you're in
mobile passport.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
Yeah, they didn't have that back then. What happened to me?
But yes, you're right, we're clear.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
But then sometime lately I began random ID checks you know,
So are you traveling a lot?
Speaker 11 (14:13):
Yeah? I'm random every time.
Speaker 7 (14:15):
Yeah. No, No, I've been random a lot lately.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
And I've definitely had that without my ID too, because
I left my idea at home. This just happened recently.
And then I asked Laura who works with me, to
fedexit to me, and they lost it or ups lost it,
and so I didn't have any ID and I had
to go from DC to Atlanta to LA and I
didn't have any ID the whole time, but I had CLEAR,
so fortunately I was able to make it through all right. Well, listen,
(14:41):
earlier we were talking about Sexy Read and the sex
tape that has her trending on social media, and so
we had a little debate here about whether or not
she accidentally posted that or if someone broke into her
phone and posted that, And I was saying, it is
quite possible to accidentally post the I feel like it
does happen. Now, Kanaan, You've never accidentally posted anything?
Speaker 7 (15:04):
You said, nah, okay, I've accidentally text something.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
Okay, that's similar. This is a lot of steps.
Speaker 11 (15:12):
There's a lot of steps to post it. They asked
you to edit, they ask you. It's a lot of steps.
And I'm not saying that she didn't, you know, accidentally
do it.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
But if it's in your story, it was.
Speaker 7 (15:20):
A story, it's kind of easy when it's in a story.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
Yeah, you click, and you also could be trying to
send it. Larry, have you ever accidentally posted something?
Speaker 2 (15:26):
No, I haven't accidentally posted anything like Kay said, I
accidentally text something.
Speaker 7 (15:30):
But not post.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
Okay, I've definitely accidentally posted something that I didn't mean
to but it wasn't anything you know, bad. It was
just like, oh, I didn't mean to post that, and
I just took it down. It wasn't a big deal
and it wasn't anything that was like, but it was like, oh,
I posted the wrong thing. So I could see how
something like that could happen, especially in your story. But
we want to hear from you, guys. Have you ever
accidentally posted something eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty.
(15:55):
We want to know if this is possible. I'm saying yes,
you guys think it's a little more difficult. Anything possible, anything,
Look at the content fifty fifty and if you have
close friends, people send stuff to there, just like one
person and my who knows. We want to see what
you guys think. It's the way yup at Angela eight
hundred fifty call us now.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
Yeah, she back at it. Bring in the max. Way
Up with Angela Yee is on.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
Yes, it's way yup with Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee
and Larry Murrow is here. Canaan Jasper is here, and
we are talking about Sexy Red all right. She accidentally
leaked her own sex tape. She posted online, I'm so heartbroken.
Anybody that know me knows I wouldn't do no goofy
ish like that, and she put a heartbroken emoji and
a crying face emoji. And so we were talking about
(16:46):
accidentally posting things. Now, Canaan, Larry, you guys have actually
sent out sent out text messages, but maybe never accidentally
posted anything, right, right, I have, you know, but nothing bad,
but I could see how that could happen. And I've
actually actually seen people accidentally go live where I had
to hit them up. May no I think did that.
(17:07):
He accidentally went live and I hit him and I
was like, may no, you're live right now. May know
you're live right now. He finally was like whoa. I
heard him on the live say that. When he finally
got he went he was crazy, right, But he accidentally
went live and things happened. So we want to see
what you guys think about this. Eight hundred n fifty.
Have you ever accidentally posted something? Kimberly, what's up?
Speaker 9 (17:30):
Hey?
Speaker 7 (17:31):
So?
Speaker 3 (17:32):
Have you ever accidentally posted anything?
Speaker 6 (17:35):
Yes, it was a picture of my butt and I
posted it as my profile picture on.
Speaker 10 (17:45):
That.
Speaker 8 (17:46):
I don't know how I did it, but I found
out I did it because my dad called me and
was like, what's going on?
Speaker 3 (17:56):
Oh my gosh, now, why did you have a picture
of your button your phone? I'm just curious?
Speaker 13 (18:02):
You already what you have to say?
Speaker 3 (18:06):
At least it was a good picture.
Speaker 9 (18:08):
It was a good picture.
Speaker 8 (18:10):
But my dad call me about it, all.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
Right, and you don't even know how it happens. All right,
thank you for calling by. Hey, Mike, what's up?
Speaker 4 (18:25):
Hey, what's going on?
Speaker 3 (18:26):
What's going on? Have you ever accidentally posted something?
Speaker 4 (18:30):
Yes? Twice?
Speaker 3 (18:31):
Okay, what did you post?
Speaker 13 (18:34):
Second video where on Facebook on my main page, Like
we were trying to post them in private groups and
it didn't go well.
Speaker 4 (18:45):
It went on my main page and me and friends
they all.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
Saw it was you did it twice?
Speaker 4 (18:51):
Twice? Oh, it varied.
Speaker 7 (18:57):
It was.
Speaker 4 (18:57):
It was like I'd like Randy here in the corner.
Speaker 7 (19:00):
You know. Basically it was that bad. It was horrible.
Y'all practice your performance better, bro.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
What's happening? And it was it like sex or was
it like what was it? What were you guys doing?
Speaker 1 (19:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (19:13):
It was it was. It was the whole porn thing.
It was.
Speaker 7 (19:16):
It was horrible.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
It was and you know, we we do things giving together,
we go he was in the sex group.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
Anybody.
Speaker 7 (19:27):
So the topic with things giving was the sex take
Yeah that who said Grace that night?
Speaker 3 (19:35):
How does that even happen?
Speaker 4 (19:36):
You just actually series it was included, and it was included.
Speaker 3 (19:43):
Okay, I wonder if they watched it, like, is your
dad like, let me see what my son's working like
is he is he good?
Speaker 4 (19:50):
He never told me I remember me, But thank.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
You for calling and sharing with us in the world
right in the world. Yeah, yeah, hey, Nikki and I
got Larry and Kanaan here, and we're talking about accidentally
posting things. Have you ever accidentally posted something? Yes?
Speaker 7 (20:13):
I have.
Speaker 14 (20:15):
Years ago I posted a positive pregnancy test.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
Where did you welcome? So many years? My daughter is twelve,
mal wow, twelve years ago the world knew about.
Speaker 15 (20:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 16 (20:35):
So I was out I was outdoors and I was
actually on a beat. So I was taking photos and
my screen was dark and like because I couldn't see
it because of the sunlight. And sure enough I accidentally
posted and writes the Facebook see.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
Its Facebook for some reason, where time you can actually
do it accidentally. Do it on Instagram when you select
a few photos. Sometimes I select the wrong photos.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
And then you're doing like a carousel.
Speaker 7 (20:59):
Yeah, what if a pregnancy to come to your phone?
Speaker 16 (21:03):
Right right?
Speaker 7 (21:05):
Hold up?
Speaker 3 (21:07):
So how many cars did you get after you posted that?
Speaker 16 (21:09):
It was funny because I had told a few people.
A few people did know I was pregnant, but people
just started commenting. They were like, oh my god, I'm
like I quickly deleted it.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
All right, well, thank you and congrats twelve years later?
Speaker 11 (21:25):
Right.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
You know what else people do too? They go live
by accident. I've seen people accidentally go live because they
maybe their phone was like in their pocket, or they
hit they were on Instagram and then they hit live
by accident. So I've seen people accidentally go live.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
You can see how some people make mistakes. I don't
think all of is intentional.
Speaker 3 (21:42):
You know, all this modern technology nonsense, but we are.
Let's give some grace to Sexy Red though, because I
know some people think, oh, you know, that wasn't a mistake,
and I'm sure that's really difficult for her to have
to deal with. Now, all right, and when we come back,
we have yet and let's talk about Drake. We'll discus
that's what he left on Scissor's page, and we'll also
(22:02):
talk about people think he's taking aim at Kanye West
on eight Am and Charlotte, we have that for you
when we come back. It's way up at Angela yee.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
Oh, she's about to blow the lead ab off this spot.
Let's get it.
Speaker 5 (22:13):
Oh yeah, Angela's feeling that yee tea, Come and get
the tea.
Speaker 3 (22:17):
It's way up at Angela yee. I'm Angela Yee and
my guys are here, are Larry Merrow and Kanaan Jasper.
Speaker 7 (22:23):
What's going on?
Speaker 3 (22:23):
What's going on? We're doing some yee tea.
Speaker 9 (22:25):
Now.
Speaker 3 (22:25):
Sizza was supposed to be performing in Toronto, but she
announced that she would not be able to perform. This
was yesterday and I know that had to hurt her
heart because she was there. She said, I try to
do sound check, I sound terrible. I only want to
give you, guys, one hundred percent. That's what you deserve,
and I won't give you any less than that. I
promise you I'll come back Toronto and make it up.
I'm so sorry. Okay, now, Fortunately though Drake did leave
(22:48):
a comment he said, we're going to do that is together.
When you come back, let me open for you.
Speaker 7 (22:52):
Dope. That's dope.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
Yeah, because I can't imagine as an artist. He's there,
she did sound check and it just doesn't She's not,
you know, at her best right now, all right now,
Speaking of Drake, he released a new song. He surprised
us all eight AM and Charlotte and he's apparently taking
shots at Kanye. Here's what he said, because it gams
obsessed with me and it's not on no Head and
(23:14):
Roe Vibe handle beef so quiet you think that I'm
letting it slide? Okay? Yeah, So definitely feel and and
Drake has been to your restaurant, right.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
Yeah, the restaurant, ye love, He followed morros He on Instagram.
Speaker 7 (23:35):
He loves so when you come down to New Orleans,
that's that's the first stop.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
Yeah, it's hard to get a reservation, guys, but Larry's
here now, so just d M him. Anybody listening and guy,
But yes, and from what I've heard, Drake definitely holds
a grudge against people.
Speaker 11 (23:51):
He got the right one because those are those are
two titans and listen, you cannot denounce.
Speaker 7 (23:58):
Yeah, he's creativity and his level of petty too.
Speaker 3 (24:01):
Yeah, he's not going anywhere.
Speaker 2 (24:03):
It's be interesting to see this. It's gonna get him
back out, you know, like is he really been chilling?
Speaker 7 (24:08):
Yeah, you know what I mean. So I think this
is gonna really make him step out again.
Speaker 3 (24:12):
I wonder if you be knowing everything that's he got it.
Speaker 11 (24:15):
You know, he knows, you know, he knows, and he
so mad. Those those are super competitive and super creative,
you know.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
You know everything that's going on on social Like at
one point he was going on the rank every day.
So I mean Drake still you know, I mean, he's
still holding.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
Some pusher remember where yea. He had just and the
boy working with him. He had Jason Lee working with him.
These are people that know everything that's going on. So
I'm sure part of the job is keep you updated.
If you were him, would you want to know? Would
you want people around you to be like this? Yeah,
because sometimes you like don't even But.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
If it's like you can't like it's coming from Drake now,
if it was coming from somewhere else, I want to
know everything.
Speaker 7 (24:52):
It's creative, all.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
Right, you know, and hip hop in a sense, you know,
not need beef, but they need some of this, you know.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
Fricktion and it was dope competition and it was dope.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
If it was whack. But if it's dope, it's art,
he said, He said, all your guys deserted. You like
put it in the cake?
Speaker 3 (25:10):
That too dessert. Now, Spike Lee, let's talk about him
for a second, since we're talking about creativity, all right.
The Brooklyn Museum has an exhibit and it's going to
be all based around Spike Lee, and that's going to
be opening on Saturday. They actually on Tuesday had a
whole preview of it, so that's really huge. And he
(25:31):
recently also sat down to talk about that exhibit. It's
going to be all kinds of cultural touch points there
from Do the Right Thing, Jungle Fever. She's gonna have it,
Malcolm X. It's called Spike Lee Creative Sources. And there's
a video online too, if you guys want to take
a look at that, just to get an idea of
what it's going to be, So shout out to him.
I feel like so many people are.
Speaker 7 (25:52):
Going to wear like there's no culture as we know
without Spike Lee.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
Right, and you're here until Sunday, Larry, you need to
maybe try to go to Brooklyn Museum and check it out.
Speaker 7 (26:01):
You want to give me some tiggs, you know, museum.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
And speaking of movies, Netflix is planning to raise prices
after the actors strike ends. Sheesh, guys, we just raised prices.
I just had to get my own password and everything,
you know. Shout out to my brother for holding me
down for so long. But now I have my own password.
Now you're gonna raise prices again, all right, So get
ready for that once that the actors strike is over.
(26:32):
That's what the plan is, and that is your u
T and when we come back, we have under the radar.
These are the stories that are not necessarily in the headlines.
They are flying under the radar, but they are just
as important. It's way up with Angela.
Speaker 5 (26:43):
Yee newssition in the news that relates to you. These
stories are flying under the radar.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
Yes, it's way up with Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee.
And Larry Morrow is here, Canon Jasper's here. I made
you guys some coffee uplifts people. So I know it's
about to turn off. So let's get into some of
these under the radar stories. They are not necessarily in
the headlines. This woman is allergic to water, all right,
She's only twenty five years old. It's a very rare allergy.
(27:11):
Only two hundred and fifty people worldwide have this, and
so imagine how difficult life is even if she cries,
if she sweats, she said, I would come out of
showers and have huge welt on my skin and my
scalp would be bleeding after showering. And she actually developed
this allergy when she was eight years old. Wow, yeah,
that's great.
Speaker 13 (27:29):
Now.
Speaker 3 (27:30):
It's a rare condition after the skin comes in contact
with water, regardless of whatever temperature it is, and they
said the costs are unknown, but it most commonly affects women.
And her mom, who's also, by the way, a family
medicine physician and the first person to realize her daughter
had this allergy, said, I feel a little guilty as
a mom for not having seen what she would get
when she would get out of the shower, that she
(27:50):
had hives, and figuring it out way earlier that it
was a water issue. And even if she drinks water
or eats anything with the high water content, she gets
a burning sensation. She mostly drinks milk because the water
content is counterbalanced by fats and proteins. Can you imagine
living life without being able to cry, sweat shower, without
(28:12):
breaking out in hives or bleeding?
Speaker 7 (28:13):
And there's no cure or anything. She's literally she's like
one of the X men.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
Yes, she had, you know, And because only two hundred
and fifty people worldwide have it, you have to think
they're probably not focusing on how do we cure this
because it's such a rarity.
Speaker 7 (28:28):
No, that's a real mutant.
Speaker 3 (28:30):
Yeah wow. And she said she cleans her body with
wet towelettes designed for you know, for it here and there,
But she said, even that hurts, so she can't really
even shower and she avoids activities across her a sweat.
She said, I can keep body odored to a minimum
by shaving and using deodorant where appropriate, And she said
sometimes she does just need to shower, and standing in
(28:50):
a shower for more than five minutes while trying not
to pass out as she hyperventilates while water's hitting her
is not great for her. And so unfortunately, you really
difficult thing. And I don't know what they're gonna end
up doing, but right now they're struggling to pay her
medical bills and make ends meet. So there's a GoFundMe
they have established to help pay their current and future costs.
She said she's not getting any healthier because her condition
(29:13):
just progresses, and she does hope that she can go
back to school again and get a job and have
some type of sense of normalcy. Her name again is
Tessa Hanson Smith. All right, now, this story was crazy.
A man did a DNA test and found out that
the reason his dad was an orphan was because he
killed his own parents. Now, he killed his own parents
(29:35):
and escaped from prison in nineteen sixty seven and then
his dad grew up in an orphanage. He thought his
dad grew up in an orphanage in Chicago. But when
he did that DNA test, that's when they found out
that his dad was the person who escaped from jail
after killing his own parents. So imagine your dad got
away with this for all of these years. He escaped
(29:55):
in nineteen sixty seven, but because you did a DNA test,
now people found out your dad is the person that
escape from jail. But the whole time he was growing up,
he thought his dad was just an orphan who grew
up in an orphanage. And it was a cold case
that went cold until Andrew, who lives in Australia now,
decided he was going to do this DNA test and
that's when the results from that DNA test identified that
(30:18):
he was the son of a fugitive that US police
have been looking for for over fifty years.
Speaker 7 (30:23):
Wow.
Speaker 11 (30:23):
That's cool though, Like I mean, I meant a lot
of people don't know stuff about their dad.
Speaker 3 (30:28):
Oh man, when people do these DNA tests.
Speaker 7 (30:31):
Crazy, Look, my son don't know everything about.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
Well, let's hope they don't ever. But you don't have
to sit down. You know your father.
Speaker 7 (30:43):
Yeah, I mean they've heard those stories. What happened?
Speaker 3 (30:47):
No, he said, that's your pops, all right. Now, Morgan
State University did cancel all homecoming events and classes as
they are looking for the shooter. The search is continuing
for that shooter. So we discussed this yesterday. Very sad,
unfortunate incident. Five people, including four students, were injured by
gunfire following a shooting on campus.
Speaker 7 (31:07):
Now everything Morgan State.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
Yeah, Morgan State University. So this is the first time
in school history that all homecoming events have been canceled.
It's never happened before there, all right, And so shout
out to Jasmine. She actually called in yesterday. She went
to Morgan State and she was planning on going there
this weekend, but everything has been canceled for safety purposes,
all right, and that is you're under the radar. We
(31:31):
do have the Way Up Mixed coming at the top
of the hour, plus more things with Larry Murrow. We're
gonna have a nice sit down with you. You like
the coffee amazing to wake it up the morning for sure,
and Canaan Jasper, it's way up with Angela yee, it's
like the like they Angela Jean like they Angela je.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
Man, she's spilling it all.
Speaker 3 (31:53):
This is yet way off, all right, it's way up
with Angela Yee, Angela Yee, and Larry Morrow is here
and Canaan Jasper is here, and we're going to get
into some more about you Larry shortly, but first let's
do some ut because you are from New Orleans. We're
going to start with this story about Anthony Mackie and Caanaan.
I know your friends with Anthony mcke because I've seen
(32:14):
you all together previously. So this actually happened. This goes
back to Monday and a woman approached Anthony Mackie. He
started trending on Monday because she asked him if he
could take a photo with her grandson and he politely declined.
Speaker 4 (32:31):
All right.
Speaker 3 (32:31):
Since then a lot of people have weighed in on it.
They posted a video of the whole situation happening. The
woman's name is Andre. She went to social media and said,
no one ever believes when I say the new Black
Captain America, Anthony Mackie does not take pictures with kids.
Don't get me wrong, I understand celebrities wanting their space,
but kids, every single time you're a superhero sir in
the Marvel universe. Now, there were people defending him and
(32:54):
people who were also angry at him. But here is
what the eleven year old. It was eleven year old
care that wanted the picture. And this was in New Orleans, right.
This is what the mom had to say on social media.
He doesn't want to take pictures.
Speaker 9 (33:07):
They don't want to talk to people.
Speaker 3 (33:08):
Find cool.
Speaker 9 (33:09):
I didn't care about that.
Speaker 17 (33:10):
I love Marvel stuff. I love that he's from New Orleans.
I love that he's a black man. He made history
when Captain America passed that shield to him. I don't
care what nobody to say. Y'a might not even know
what I'm talking about, but my Marble people do.
Speaker 7 (33:20):
Anyway, he can't thank me.
Speaker 9 (33:22):
You know, I told no problem. I said, you feel
like taking.
Speaker 17 (33:25):
A picture real quick for my son? He said, no pictures.
I said no problem, and I walked on and let.
Speaker 9 (33:29):
It be all right.
Speaker 3 (33:31):
In addition to that, she said, and this is part
of the story. People need to know. Not he did
not want to take a picture, but he did shake
the young young man's hand eleven years old and spoke
to him. Here's what she said about that.
Speaker 17 (33:48):
They didn't have a little more dialogue back and forth.
I don't know the exact words of that. I don't
believe it was anything angry because he wasn't really being me.
So apparently they passed a few words back and forth
and then he said, you know what, I'm not gonna
take a picture. But I can't shake his hand. I
can ask him what school he goes to and stuff
like that.
Speaker 3 (34:06):
All right, she posted, I stand behind how I feel
with the Anthony Mackie situation. It's more than just being
a superhero as a character. These New Orleans boys need him.
The Internet won't stare me from how I feel as
a mother. Remember, we all have opinions, and this is mine.
I'm entitled to it, all right. So I want to
hear what you guys think about it, because I know
you both personally know Anthony Mackie and Larry you're from
New Orleans.
Speaker 7 (34:26):
Yeah, so I personally I think you know.
Speaker 2 (34:29):
As far as the kid, I think you know, looking
at somebody who he may idolize on TV and maybe
a little heart bringing to him.
Speaker 7 (34:35):
So but I'm sure the tent was never to break
the kid's heart.
Speaker 2 (34:39):
I think sometime you know this is me knowing Anthony Mackie,
so I can speak from both, you know, just like
seeing kids walk up to him and take pictures and
he's taking pictures. But I've also seen when you know,
he may be in the meeting or we having lunch,
and you know, it's like he's forced to be It's
like sometimes you become a puppet and it's like you're
forced to always be Captain America, which I get it.
(35:02):
But at the same time, I do understand mental health
is important and sometime being.
Speaker 7 (35:07):
A celebrity is.
Speaker 2 (35:10):
He's like it's one of those jobs that never you know,
like you're you're always on point.
Speaker 7 (35:15):
You always got to be taking a picture, doing.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
This, doing that one it goes viral, right, So I
understand because I've been able to see him be the
Captain America taking all the pictures, but also be the
person who you know, you know, essentially wants his space
because you know, being.
Speaker 3 (35:30):
Famous too, everybody's about to come over being famous.
Speaker 2 (35:33):
As long as he's been famous, Uh, you know, it
can take a toll on anybody. And there's a lot
of people like Lil Wayne and different people who you
know who's been famous for half their life. And I
think have been affected by all the things that society
placed on you.
Speaker 3 (35:49):
You know, what do you think can and you know
him personally, one of your best friends.
Speaker 11 (35:53):
And also I like people to dig in a little
bit deeper before they form an opinion and look at
the evidence. First of all, he has four sons, he's
a very active father, and he's a community guy. You know,
we talk about people in New Orleans need him. Anthony
is probably the largest black investor in the city of
(36:15):
New Orleans. So he provides plenty of opportunities for young
people and black people in particular with his businesses, with
his investments, but more importantly, look at his personal time.
At that point where the woman approached him, he was
on his personal time. He was in an adult setting.
He had a cigar, maybe a cocktail, and he was like,
(36:37):
I can't take a picture right now. But when he
spoke to the young man, and I see it all
the time, I've seen young people approach him and he's
very accommodating. At that particular time, it wasn't the wisest
thing to do, and sharing time with that young man,
I think the young man might like that conversation and
that conversation might resonate a little bit more than just
(36:58):
a picture that was called him took a picture. He
was like, yo, I had a conversation with him.
Speaker 3 (37:03):
Yeah, I just think about when I was growing up.
We didn't have cameras on our phones and things like that.
To be able to even access that, we sued to
ask for autographs.
Speaker 7 (37:09):
And he does that all the time.
Speaker 11 (37:11):
He'll say, let me get your address, I'll sing you
a personal sign thing or whatever whatever. But a picture
could be very intruthsove and he got to speak think
about his health.
Speaker 7 (37:21):
You know.
Speaker 11 (37:21):
Let's say that kid is sick, you know, mother, you know,
and he got to go to work.
Speaker 7 (37:26):
You know.
Speaker 11 (37:26):
Now the shoot gotta stop all kinds of stuff, so
he has to he has to consider it, lies, Larry said.
Being always on, he got to think about a lot
of things.
Speaker 3 (37:34):
All right, Well, we'll talk more about this, and we
have a lot more stories that we didn't get to
because that one, I think was an important one to discuss.
It's way you put Angela yee. Larry Merrow and Canon
Jasper are here.
Speaker 1 (37:46):
You riding the way up with Angela yee?
Speaker 3 (37:49):
All right, it's way yea put Angela yee. I'm Angela Yee,
and Larry Merrow is here, Canon Jasper is here, and
we were talking about Anthony Mackie since you guys personally
know him. He is from New Orleans, as is Larry,
and he had a lot of backlash for not taking
a picture with a young fan. The grandmother asked for
a picture, he said no, but he did spend some
time talking to the young man, shaking his hand, having
(38:11):
a conversation. And now this whole thing went viral. A
lot of people have mixed responses. Somebody said, don't get
me wrong, I understand celebrities wanting their space, but kids
every single time you're a superheroeser in the Marvel universe,
and you know, a lot of one person said that,
my mom's no one ever believes when I say the
new Black Captain America, Anthony Mackie does not take pictures
(38:33):
with kids, little black boys who look up to him
in New Orleans. So there were a lot of people
weighing in, But you guys did give some clarity. And
I want to ask, what have people's encounters been like
with celebrities? Now, both of you, Larry, you from the
beginning of your career because you know, you own restaurants,
but you also have promoted parties, right, and we also
(38:55):
know you for curating events in New Orleans. Now for you,
have you ever had encounters and you don't have to
say who it is with celebrities that were not good?
Speaker 2 (39:04):
I mean, yeah, of course, but it doesn't really bother me,
I believe you know, you just sometimes just meet people
at the wrong time in their life and they may
be going through things, so it never like you know,
somebody asked me this question recently and my response was
just like, you know.
Speaker 7 (39:18):
I never thought none of it.
Speaker 2 (39:19):
You know, it's like everybody you know, you may have
a bad day, you know, so I give people a
lot of grace honestly.
Speaker 3 (39:25):
Right, because you know people personally and you might have
a bad encounter and then later on have a good
encounter with them, and so you never know what's going on. Canaan,
we know you're around everybody too, and you know your
own marketing company and you've worked with a lot of
celebrities and a lot of brands. What are your thoughts
about this? Have you had some bad encounters with celebrities?
Speaker 11 (39:44):
Not many, but yeah, we have had some, you know,
but you got to look at it over the course
of time. You know, one incident won't determine how I
feel about somebody, because you can have a bad day,
you can have some bad employees, people always at you.
So I mean, I won't judge one incident off of it, right,
we have to see.
Speaker 7 (40:04):
The whole thing.
Speaker 11 (40:04):
And then I got to look at what's happening right
at this moment. You know, is it personal or is
it work? Where do I land in this? You know,
everything can be.
Speaker 3 (40:13):
A conflict, right, and I think about it too. I
Mean there's people that even for me, first of all,
I'm always hesitant to go over and introduce myself to anybody,
you know what I mean, Because I also like feel
like when I see people in public, I want to
give them their space. I don't want to if you're
at a restaurant or you're somewhere, depending on where you're at, Like,
I'm not going to just walk up on you like, Hi,
(40:34):
I'm such and such, you know, nice to meet you.
It's hard for me to do that, but I've always
been kind of like that, you know, So.
Speaker 7 (40:41):
Yeah, I ain't walking up on nobody.
Speaker 11 (40:43):
I'm well, look, I was able to meet everybody who
I felt like I wanted to meet ever I met them.
Speaker 3 (40:51):
You have sons, though. Now let's just say because sometimes
a lot of times you do something for your kid
because you're like, my kids might want to.
Speaker 7 (40:58):
So one time I almost Kevin Durant.
Speaker 11 (41:02):
My son saw Kevin Durant, my youngest son, and I
don't know what it was at that moment. He was
like he kind of shunned my son. And I did
take that personal.
Speaker 3 (41:14):
That's different when it's your kid.
Speaker 7 (41:16):
But he saw me, he saw me take it personal too,
and I was.
Speaker 11 (41:21):
And then he actually went over to my son because
I think it was so many people coming at him, right,
It wasn't personal against my son. It was just my
son just happened to be that moment. And when I
saw him, you know, kind of shun Christian, I.
Speaker 3 (41:35):
Was like, oh, the face like okay, and he was like.
Speaker 7 (41:40):
Yo, come here, and he rocked out.
Speaker 3 (41:42):
I was like, yeah, thank goodness, it didn't have to Yeah.
I mean, and I think it's different to her because
it's not like she asked for a picture for herself.
She was asking for a picture for her eleven year
old son, who she probably felt like man as a parent,
maybe you feel like, I want to try to get
this for my kid, and you know your kid is
going to.
Speaker 7 (42:00):
Be And I understand that a parent feeling that way.
I mean, it's your kid.
Speaker 2 (42:03):
You want your kid to you know, be able to
take a picture with their superhero, you know, or whoever
it may be. But uh, you know, you just got
to understand the situation and you know the moment. You know,
every moment isn't perfect.
Speaker 3 (42:15):
And you know, I think it is nice that he
spent some time talking to him too. That's important that
he actually was like, hey, come here, you know where
you go to school, whatever type of conversation. They know,
that's something that's that's you know, he maybe he didn't
get that picture. Also, he probably could have finessed it
when you got y'all got to start teaching your kids
how to finesse the situation. Like, you know, I would
(42:36):
still like a picture, because if he would have asked,
it might have been different.
Speaker 7 (42:39):
If the kid would have asked, definitely would have. But
there's a lot of adults.
Speaker 11 (42:44):
That be on their own group of stuff and they
leave with and I see it happen with him and
other celebrity friends of ours. You know, people come in
before you know it, the grandma mom, and then the
kid is nowhere.
Speaker 3 (42:57):
In the picture. All right, Well, I want to hear
about you guys in your encounters with celebrities. Maybe you've
had some great ones or maybe some not so great ones,
but let's air it out. Are we gonna be able
to all right and tell the truth? Don't be making
stuff up? Eight hundred and two nine two fifty one fifty.
We want to hear about jaroncounters with people that you've
meant and I'll talk about my own situations. Is way
up with Angela Yee eight hundred two nine two fifty
(43:18):
one fifty.
Speaker 1 (43:19):
Hey, yeah, she back at it. Bringing the way Up
with Angela Yee is on.
Speaker 3 (43:28):
Yes, it is way up with Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee,
and Larry Murrow is here, Canon Jasper is here, and
we are talking about celebrity encounters. This all came out
of the Anthony Mackie story where basically, you know a
woman from New Orleans. She said that her eleven year
old son wanted to take a picture with him, and
Anthony McKie refuse, but in his in his defense, he
(43:49):
did have a conversation with him, talk to him, and
so he wasn't rude, but he just didn't want to
take that picture. All right, And now we're talking about
our own celebrity encounters. We just heard a crazy one
in the room where someone threw this person's phone because
he thought that he was recording him. I had a
couple of different not so great encounters. I remember one time, See,
(44:12):
I've run into people, so I don't know if I
want to name names. Is that okay? One time I
was I ran. I had just interviewed someone right literally
the day before, and then I ran into him and
his wife. He's a rapper at a restaurant. I was
with my friends at a restaurant and then I saw
I was walking to the bathroom. They were standing at
the bar, and he says to his wife, Oh, this
(44:34):
is Angela. She just interviewed me yesterday as serious is
when I was working as serious, and the wife was like,
just gave me like a nasty look, like she just
didn't and turned around. And I still try to be polite,
and I was like, oh, it's nice to meet you.
She was also a celebrity, and I was like, you know,
one day we'd love to have you come up. She
was like, yeah, yeah, you'll have to talk to my people,
and she like turned her back to me, and he
(44:56):
looked like he wanted to apologize so badly, like he
felt bad about it. But I was like, maybe they're
into some type of argument with each other and that
made her be that way, or maybe she's just like that.
I don't really know her.
Speaker 7 (45:07):
So yeah, it was a pretty good oh interview, huh.
Speaker 3 (45:11):
But that was it. That was the whole encounter. And
after that, I was like, oh, I went back to
the table with my friends and I was like, you
won't believe what just happened. But something like that will
leave a bad taste in your mouth for somebody who
you felt like I liked that person until you know.
That's why they always say sometimes meeting people that you
like and admire could be a letdown mark at times.
But let's hear your guys celebrity encounters and can and
(45:34):
you told the good one, Larry. You said You've had
some that have been not so positive, but you give
people grace.
Speaker 7 (45:39):
Yeah, you get people gracing, and you know it is
what it is.
Speaker 2 (45:41):
You know, like, I don't really think too deep into things,
and I think that's one of my super powers.
Speaker 7 (45:45):
I just let it be what it's going to be.
Speaker 3 (45:47):
Whenever I have a friend that's going to New Orleans,
I'm like, Larry, can you make sure this person's good?
And he always does it and they always come back
like I love Larry. All Right, Well, let's hear your
encounters twenty hundred two nine two fifty one fifty Hello,
oh no, no, yeah, oh we're just sill. Okay, fifty
one fifty years and number call us out. Let's hear
your celebrity encounters. We cannot wait to hear these stories
(46:07):
because I know we had some good ones. Just Way
Up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 1 (46:11):
Yeah, you back at it. Bring in the Way Up with.
Speaker 3 (46:15):
Angela Yee is on, Yes, it is way up with
Angela Yee, Angela Yee. Larry Morrow is here, my guy
Canaan Jasper is here. It's like family in the room,
so I appreciate having you guys here. We were having
discussions about running into celebrities and sometimes we don't have
the best experiences, and I was telling you guys my story.
(46:35):
I didn't name names only because I know sometimes you
might run into yeah, sometimes you might run into people
because I haven't always had the best experiences Larry, I know,
and you're not gonna name names. I remember when I
first met Larry. He actually you have a book out
where you talk about treating people well and going above
and beyond people even from the beginning when you first
meet them.
Speaker 7 (46:53):
Man, you really know a lot about me. There's been
a long journey, but you.
Speaker 3 (46:57):
Always Yeah, we definitely are, but you know because we've
had that conversation before. But from when you first meet Larry,
Like I said, I always send people to Larry when
they go to New Orleans. Mayno was out there kicking
it with you and met you for the first time.
Speaker 7 (47:12):
Yeah, we met for the first time.
Speaker 3 (47:13):
Yeah, and he told me he did not want to
leave New Orleans because of you. Yeah, he was like
Larry really had me outside.
Speaker 2 (47:19):
Yeah, that was a great time. Mayno man, real cool dude.
Been been of course new of Maino. Saw him at
your your release party. Yeah, we didn't get to get
a chance to speak, but you know, I like to
let's just let things happen organic. Months later, he's in
New Orleans. You connect us. We had a great time
and we.
Speaker 3 (47:37):
Really connect Some people don't have great first experiences with Mayo,
but we'll talk about that with him. But let's hear
about you guys and your celebrity encounters. Fifty be South.
How are you?
Speaker 7 (47:50):
I'm fine, I'm fine.
Speaker 10 (47:51):
Are you doing you?
Speaker 3 (47:52):
I'm good? Thank you. Want to tell us about your
celebrity encounter?
Speaker 7 (47:55):
Yeah, it was a football player, absolutely, okay?
Speaker 3 (47:58):
Who Lawrence tall Us and what happened?
Speaker 10 (48:01):
My uncle took us to a concert back in the
day that I was a young teenager from the Giants
stand though.
Speaker 7 (48:06):
And he had behind us.
Speaker 10 (48:09):
I'm real excited and everything, so you're.
Speaker 4 (48:11):
Not actually t connect, you know, take a picture of you.
Speaker 10 (48:15):
I wanted to take a picture of him. He kind
of pushed my camera and was like no. I looked
at my uncle. My uncle real short though, I said,
you know what, I up wat, we ain't doing nothing.
But I did get a picture of TJ and his
wife underwear.
Speaker 1 (48:31):
Wait what Yeah, I was so mad, I.
Speaker 7 (48:35):
Said, you know what.
Speaker 10 (48:36):
I snuck a couple of pictures of his son TJ.
And then his wife was sitting right directly behind me,
so I took some pictures of her.
Speaker 7 (48:42):
Penny.
Speaker 10 (48:43):
I don't let the penny.
Speaker 3 (48:44):
That night Okay, that's okay.
Speaker 10 (48:46):
Bye, I know, I know I was a teenager though
I was a teenager.
Speaker 3 (48:49):
Oh my gosh, bye, Oh my god, Hey Jamie, how
are you, Hie, I'm good. You want to tell us
about your celebrity encounter.
Speaker 8 (49:00):
Yes, I had two.
Speaker 16 (49:01):
Matter of facts.
Speaker 8 (49:02):
Celebrity accounsel was with data kids, and he is so polite,
he stopped.
Speaker 6 (49:06):
He takes pictures with everybody.
Speaker 9 (49:09):
Nice.
Speaker 17 (49:10):
Yes he is.
Speaker 8 (49:11):
But another celebrity was she's a model in an actress.
Her and my daughter was auditioned.
Speaker 6 (49:17):
For the same movie. And she really gave the kids
the cold shoulder.
Speaker 14 (49:20):
She was very rule is she not even that famous?
Speaker 3 (49:23):
Oh, you're gonna tell us who it is?
Speaker 4 (49:25):
Click Woods?
Speaker 3 (49:27):
Okay, slick Woods.
Speaker 7 (49:28):
All right.
Speaker 3 (49:29):
You know I feel like sometimes matters that world is
so different too, Like I don't know, I can't explain it.
It's not like a to me. I've never felt like
it's a warm, welcoming world.
Speaker 16 (49:41):
Yeah, but the.
Speaker 4 (49:41):
Kids, that's something different.
Speaker 16 (49:43):
These was like five or.
Speaker 4 (49:44):
Six year old.
Speaker 3 (49:45):
Oh that's really young. And I know as a mom
that probably had you type yes, cause and.
Speaker 8 (49:52):
They was auditioning for the same movie. My daughter was
actually auditioning to be her little sister in the movie,
and she was just giving them the cold show.
Speaker 3 (50:00):
So it was terrible, all right, all right, but thank
you for sharing with us.
Speaker 9 (50:04):
Okay, and she have a nice day you too.
Speaker 3 (50:06):
Hey, Samantha, you want to tell us about your celebrity encounter.
Speaker 9 (50:10):
Yes, I do.
Speaker 6 (50:11):
So I was in Jamaica and I saw a sizzler.
Speaker 3 (50:16):
Okay, that's exciting, and I'm like, oh.
Speaker 6 (50:19):
My god, sile my mom left you. Can I get
an autograph? He paused, he wasn't trying to do it.
Speaker 13 (50:24):
Then he did it.
Speaker 6 (50:25):
Then I'm like, can I get a picture? He was like, wait,
I gotta go get my bag. So it's just me
hitting my friend by the back parrousel, no bag, and.
Speaker 4 (50:33):
He refused to take a picture.
Speaker 6 (50:35):
So I went back up to him again, like can
you please please take a picture?
Speaker 9 (50:40):
He was like, I wait for my bag. So at
that point I was just.
Speaker 7 (50:43):
Like, you know what, you give me a try.
Speaker 3 (50:45):
But he did give you an audio. But he did
give you an autograph.
Speaker 6 (50:50):
He did do a little scribble.
Speaker 4 (50:52):
He did do a little scribble.
Speaker 6 (50:53):
He did Marlon Wayne's was awesome and dope when I
got him.
Speaker 2 (50:57):
So shout out to Manoway sometime when you catch pople
in those airports, it's like, you know, the they it's
just hard.
Speaker 3 (51:03):
Yeah, I'm not gonna lie with people ask me for
a picture. I remember one time I was leaving the
gym and somebody asked me for a picture and I
was like, I don't know. I was like, like, I'm sorry.
I was like I normally would, but you know, I'm
leaving the gym. I look crazy.
Speaker 11 (51:19):
Some of them are rude too. Some of them know
you're talking about celebrities. Some people asking for pictures and
stuff are rude. Some some people will run people over
to get to the person they want to get to,
and they forget how rude they're being. You know, your
idea of what's supposed to happen is not actually what
(51:39):
should or could happen.
Speaker 3 (51:41):
Now, let me ask you this. Do you still love
the song? Just one of those days?
Speaker 4 (51:44):
No, I don't.
Speaker 16 (51:47):
My song?
Speaker 13 (51:49):
All right?
Speaker 6 (51:50):
It's like when you people don't understand, like, yes, they
are human, we get that. But when you have a
great environment for a celebrity, this is who you want,
you downloading their music, and then when you finally see them,
it's just like you know, rejection, you know, like you
kind of feel weird.
Speaker 3 (52:09):
Okay, you like the song.
Speaker 7 (52:13):
I get it, I get it.
Speaker 3 (52:16):
Right, and it's not just one of those days, one
of those days.
Speaker 6 (52:22):
But I'm like Fizz in Jamaica and I can't get
it right.
Speaker 2 (52:25):
I think people, I think I think people, especially like
public figures celebrity, should should be allowed to take days
off and not just always be in character because you know,
they got to protect their own mental health, you know,
like they got to batter their own things throughout their day.
Speaker 3 (52:38):
So but it's just because sometimes you just do RESK
losing a fan.
Speaker 7 (52:41):
Right now, and that's intentional.
Speaker 3 (52:44):
It's not intentional, but it happens, all right, all right, Well,
thank you guys so much for calling. That was a
that was a fun conversation. And when we come back,
I want to talk about my guest co host for today,
Larry Merrill and Canaan Jaspers, just that you guys can
get some insights to who they are. I know kana
is gonna be back with his brother at some point
in the future. We'll discuss that. But Larry, I definitely
want to get into some of your story while you're
(53:05):
in New York since you don't live here. Okay, it's
way up with Angela yee.
Speaker 1 (53:12):
You've rid the way up with Angela.
Speaker 3 (53:15):
Yes, it is way up with Angela Yee, Angela Yee.
And Larry Morrow is here. Canaan Jasper is here now.
Canaan is the person who I always call when we
have asked ye questions and people need help. And I
always call Canaan if it's above what I can provide
help for. So Canaan, your brother, doctor Kendall Jasper, is
(53:35):
the person who your partners with. Can you just tell
a little bit of information about what you do?
Speaker 7 (53:40):
Sure thing?
Speaker 11 (53:41):
Partners in a company called It's mental health Facilities that
we own and mental health schools, a couple of schools
that we have that mental health is integrated in the curriculum.
Speaker 7 (53:52):
We like a pilot program for the country to do that.
Speaker 11 (53:55):
So it's called aar J Cares and Jasper Psychological and
partners with my brother, doctor Kendall Jasper. And then we
have our non traditional arm called the Doc and the
Dude in which we keep very clinical and layman balance
within our you know, our commentary and our advice or
even within our treatment.
Speaker 3 (54:16):
Yeah, and it's been great because there are people who
I've sent to you guys, and you followed and followed
up with me to make sure that everybody's okay. And
you actually changed some lives.
Speaker 7 (54:26):
Yeah, we had a good track record. Yeah, we haven't lost.
Speaker 3 (54:28):
Anybody, So I definitely appreciate that. And you and doctor
Kendall Jasper will be up here guest hosting as well.
Speaker 7 (54:36):
Absolutely, that's gonna be funny though, him and his brother together.
Speaker 3 (54:41):
It's Doc and the dude. Yeah, all right, and Larry
morro is here. Now you're actually in town. First of all,
all bets on me, right. That is the first book
that you wrote that was about your road to entrepreneurship.
I saw you were at the Reform Alliance event gambling,
all right, so I need to know because that's not
(55:03):
how much money they raised. Did you win or did? Like,
how did your gambling go? Are you good?
Speaker 4 (55:08):
Did so?
Speaker 2 (55:09):
The gambling was like a tournament, right, so it wasn't uh,
you know, my gambling happened after that. And I didn't
gamble a long time, but I gambled at one time.
We're in the casino, we're in Atlantic City, it's nothing
to do. Uh, So I did gamble, but yeah, that's
not something I love to do anymore.
Speaker 3 (55:25):
Okay, Well, when I first and so all bets on me, Yeah,
you gamble on yourself.
Speaker 7 (55:29):
Yeah, all bets on me, the riskmal awards of becoming
an entrepreneur.
Speaker 2 (55:32):
It just talks about how I made that transition from
you know, betting on the game where the oswore against me,
to betting on myself with the ods were more in
my favor and just you know, just following you know,
my heart in my direction.
Speaker 7 (55:42):
And helped me.
Speaker 2 (55:44):
You know, I learned a lot just from the game
of gambling, you know, and in the casino shooting dice,
you know, just a bunch of different things.
Speaker 3 (55:52):
Now, when I first met Larry, we actually used to
do our birthday party together every year in New Orleans.
And then you and your mom actually had a restaurant
on a golf course. Yes at one point, right, yeap, yes, Leonora.
Speaker 7 (56:04):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Leonora's grilled.
Speaker 2 (56:06):
So uh that's where like mama has been in the
restaurant industry, you know, all her life, and she she's
done well.
Speaker 7 (56:13):
Golf course did well. But I think, you know, just
had to move beyond that. And then we decided to.
Speaker 3 (56:19):
Open up Morrows and another gamble yeah, and.
Speaker 2 (56:21):
Partner, and I think it was a great partnership because
she was able to focus more so on the kitchen
and not where every hat and I was able to
focus on bringing people to the to the space, exposing
it to people, but also curating the vibe. So that
so that concoction really helped create a unique and experience,
a unique experience, and you know, help you know create
(56:44):
you know what is Morrows and I.
Speaker 3 (56:45):
Would love to talk about because now you have other restaurants.
You have, First of all, you have Treehouse, which is
a place that everybody when you go to New Orleans,
Treehouse is the spot. So whenever people are like, what's
going on in New Orleans Treehouse? Okay, Now, you guys
also have Monday Mon.
Speaker 2 (57:00):
Yep, my mondays a thirteen thousand square for a restaurant.
It's doing extremely well. It's much bigger than Morrow. So
it it it looks it's like Mmorrow is like the
Little Brother.
Speaker 3 (57:09):
Now okay, yeah, it's like a tea restaurant more. Yeah,
cause this is a square is a humongous And you
guys also have Sung Chung, which I've been there.
Speaker 2 (57:19):
Ye Asian American concept with a little spice of New Orleans,
and it and named after my grandmother. Of course, my
grandmother is some career, so this restaurant was inspired by her,
and just you know, it's about legacy.
Speaker 7 (57:31):
It's deeper than just you know, making food.
Speaker 2 (57:33):
It's about creating legacy and being able to you know,
elaborate on what she her coming to America and establishing
this foundation for her family.
Speaker 7 (57:43):
So it's a very sentimental asset.
Speaker 10 (57:45):
You know.
Speaker 2 (57:46):
It's something that I'm glad I'm able to do and
I've done it, especially while she's able to you know,
still smell smell it, you know, like so she's still
here with us, and I'm able to just do these
create something like this while she able to shit it.
Speaker 10 (58:00):
You know.
Speaker 3 (58:01):
All right, We're gonna talk more about all of this
because I feel like Larry needs like a you know,
we need a full sit down, full wealth Wednesday sit down.
We do have ask ye coming up. Thank goodness you're here,
Caanan fifty one fifty isn't i' gonna call this up
if you have any questions. We are here to help
its way up at Angela yeebody.
Speaker 5 (58:21):
Since whether it's relationship or career advice, Angela's dropping facts.
Speaker 3 (58:26):
This is what's up. It's way up with Angela Yee.
I'm Angela ye and thankfully for this question. I got
two amazing guest co hosts, Larry Merrow and Canaan Jasper.
And of course you can ask us anything. We are
here to help. We have Nay on the line. What's up, Nay, Hey, Angela,
Hey girl, what is your question today?
Speaker 4 (58:45):
Hey?
Speaker 9 (58:45):
My question is why do you marry man? Thank It's
okay to step outside their marriage.
Speaker 10 (58:50):
Now.
Speaker 15 (58:50):
This is not containing me, but it's containing a close
friend to me. And hopefully she heard me, okay, because.
Speaker 9 (58:56):
I'm trying to get her a different advice.
Speaker 3 (58:58):
All right, and I'm glad you called because I do
have two married men. Well no, okay, yeah, well yeah, yeah, okay,
Well Larry's engaged, Kanaan, you've been married, yes, yes, and
so And that is a question that a lot of
people ask, like, why do men cheat? Why do married
men cheat? I'm not saying anybody in this room I
(59:18):
would say this. I don't think anybody thinks it's okay.
But I do feel like sometimes people do things thinking
that they'll get away with it, because I don't think
people ever cheat with the intent of getting caught. They
always cheat thinking nobody's going to know and therefore nobody's
feelings will get hurt. Also, sometimes when there's problems in
the marriage, people can think that's an easy fix. Let
me just go outside, do this and do what I
(59:41):
want to do, and then I can come back home
to the person who loves me. But I can go
and still have, you know, my fund. And I also
think sometimes people don't take cheating as seriously as they should,
right well, I.
Speaker 15 (59:53):
Just think as a yes, ma'am, But I just think
as a married man, you know, I don't understand why
they think it's okay, like y'all not concerned if your
wife or kids, you know, well eventually find out, and
why you think it's okay to play with some.
Speaker 9 (01:00:08):
One feelings like that. I don't think that that's fair.
Speaker 3 (01:00:10):
And first of all, I never heard these guys so quiet. Well, okay,
listen to her, so listen. So what do you think
about that?
Speaker 7 (01:00:20):
As men?
Speaker 3 (01:00:20):
And I know men have these conversations with each other,
right and I know a lot of guys have cheated
in their lifetime. What was the reason.
Speaker 11 (01:00:27):
There's many different reasons, you know, and sometimes it's just
your capacity. Sometimes it's just your capacity at the end
of the day. No, you can't say that's a monolithic
thing like all men do certain things, because it's different
reasons why people do this.
Speaker 3 (01:00:44):
She's talking about her friend's husband.
Speaker 7 (01:00:46):
And friends and husband.
Speaker 11 (01:00:48):
First of all, you said, why do all married men.
She's not a married man, so you know she won't
never understand that.
Speaker 3 (01:00:54):
And I think sometimes guys also feel like, like I said,
they won't get caught, but if they is something wrong
in the marriage, instead of trying to focus on that
and fix it, some men can not deal with their
problems and not communicate the way they should, and then
they end up straying away from things. And maybe it
makes them cope better in their marriage because they know
they can escape and go to their but age marriage
(01:01:17):
is a very personal thing.
Speaker 11 (01:01:19):
It's an interpretation between in the means of communication between
two people. So what may be good for one couple
may not be good for another couple, you know what
I mean. Marriage comes with a degree of responsibility. Are
you taking care of your family? Do you treat or
mistreat your partner? It's really about the treatment of your partner,
(01:01:40):
right because one act that may last twenty minutes, thirty minutes,
five minutes, whatever it is, that does not counterbalance lifetime
of dedication to your family, So it shouldn't be interpreted
as that.
Speaker 3 (01:01:56):
So you know those some women interpret it that way.
But now people be like, if you love me, you
wouldn't have done that. And some men may not look
at it like, this doesn't mean not on loss.
Speaker 11 (01:02:05):
It's over five thousand chromosome differences between man and male
and female.
Speaker 7 (01:02:10):
There's very few things we will see the eye the
eye have the same.
Speaker 11 (01:02:13):
Outlook on, you know, so sometimes we sometimes we gotta
trust each other's interpretation and means of communication. Like if
you want to know something about from a man, sometimes
don't listen to what he says, look at what he means,
look at his actions, right, and same thing for a female,
you know.
Speaker 3 (01:02:31):
But I will say this, if cheating is a deal
breaking for you, you don't have to stay. And sometimes,
you know, people do what they get away with. Also,
and if your friend is ride or die and that's
her decision to stay in her relationship, there's not much
you can do about that.
Speaker 9 (01:02:45):
Oh no, yeah, right, but she's not. It's the fact
that he was different. He was real slick whaty he's
the one that's married. She never knew nothing about it.
Speaker 15 (01:02:56):
He real with her all that, like it was your
so strange and still was going home for the wife,
making it seem like he.
Speaker 9 (01:03:03):
Was going to work when instead of going to work,
