It's like we just went to her baby shower.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
Yeah, we did.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
We went to her baby shower, and so fortunately the
baby is healthy, six pounds eleven ounces that the baby
looked big to me. He looked about two months older already.
He looked like a big boy. He look like he
could talk.
Speaker 7 (02:54):
You know, we take it for granted that, you know,
we have children. Every day, people have babies, and sometimes
people don't make it through. So this is a big deal.
I think we got really celebrated. And you have a
healthy baby.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Yes, and he looks and she was so her stomach
because she's very small, frames, Yes, her stomach was huge.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
And she feel like Angela, this baby about to be
ten pounds.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
She thought she will have a big old baby.
Speaker 4 (03:15):
But congratulations Melissa. Congratulations to Rob.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
And one thing about Melissa, she was working up until
she delivered that baby, all right, and negirl, she was
on every time I was calling.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
I went.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
I called the other night, as a matter of fact,
last week, to go get some food on my way home.
I just wanted to make sure that they were open,
like you know, still the kitchen was open and.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
She was there.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
I was like, Melissa, it is midnight, like, aren't you
about to have a baby. So congratulations and shout out
to Melissa. Eight hundred two ninet two fifty one fifty.

Speaker 12 (04:37):

daughter Sevanie, and my grand daughter Jail. I just had
a first cheff, three womerful women.
Speaker 13 (04:45):

Speaker 12 (04:45):
I gotta shine the light on a base.
Speaker 4 (04:47):
Okay, you got all these beautiful women in your life?
Speaker 12 (04:50):

Speaker 12 (04:54):
Thank you. You do what you're doing?
Speaker 4 (04:56):
All right? You too? All right?
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Well that was shining light on. I made a hundred
T nine fifty. If you couldn't get through, you can
always leave a message. And Yet is coming up next.
And Jada Pinkett Smith, you know she has her book
and she did a sit down and be with Hoda
kote B. That's gonna air Friday night on NBC, but
she did give us some little spoilers about what's going
to be talked about, and we have that for you
(05:18):
when we come back.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
It's way up at Angela ye.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
They says in the rooms from Industry Shade to all
of gossip out send Angela's spieling.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
That EyeT, Yes, it is way yup at Angela yee.
I'm Angela yee. And Jasmine Brand is here.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
Yes, good morning Angela.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
Good morning.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
To see if we have any Jazzmine Brand exclusives today,
I never know. All right, well, let's start it off
with Jada Pinkett Smith. You know, she has her book
coming out and uh worthy. And one thing that she
did was an exclusive sit down with Hoda Kote It's
gonna air Friday night on NBC, and amongst the things
that she talked about, uh, she discusses that her and
(05:57):
Will Smith were officially split since twenty sixteen.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
Here is what Hoda astor.
Speaker 8 (06:03):
The thing that surprised me the most was that in
twenty sixteen you and Will decided that you were going
to live completely separate lives. It was not a divorce
on paper, but it was a divorce. So from the
year twenty sixteen, which is seven years ago. Now, yes,
(06:26):
y'all have been a part.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
Yeah, and you know, Will Smith did reveal previously that
they had an open marriage because they believed their union
shouldn't feel like a prison. So he had already said that,
and he also said in GQ last year, I don't
suggest our road for anybody. I don't suggest this road
for anybody, but the experiences that the freedoms that we've
given one another and the unconditional support to me is
(06:48):
the highest definition of love.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
So that's his experience now.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Jada Pinkett Smith also talked about why their relationship was fractured.
Speaker 4 (06:58):
Why did the relationship fracture?
Speaker 5 (07:00):
That's a lot of things.
Speaker 10 (07:01):
Yeah, And I think by the time when we got
to twenty sixteen, we were just exhausted with trying. I
think we were both kind of still stuck in our
fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
She really didn't I didn't get a clear answer, which
is fine.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
Right, and maybe in her book, which by the way,
comes out on Tuesday on the seventeenth, we'll learn more.
But I also feel like that interview that yours truly
did with august Alsina, I don't know if they ever
would have revealed this much, right, if that hadn't happened.
Speaker 7 (07:30):
If so, Angela, are you saying that maybe they were
motivated by what August Austina said during an interview with you.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
I don't think they had plans to tell everybody talk
about well.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
I don't know if they did or not, but I
do know initially, remember a spokesperson denied it. Yes, when
August Alsina did the interview, and people were calling him
a liar. And I also know that August did give
her heads up okay, that he was going to actually
do the interview, and he even sent her to clip
ahead of time so she could see what he said.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
Do you think that was your biggest interview, August, I've
seen it or no.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
I think it was.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Yeah, that was a big story that year, and it
was and you got to think that interview was during
a pandemic, when nobody was doing things together in person.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
Everything was virtual.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
And he actually flew to New York for us to
do a sit down because he put out a project.
Speaker 4 (08:16):
That's really what it was about.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
And so that was a small part of the interview,
a really small but it was big and I knew it,
and I was wondering before I came out if he
was going to take that part out?
Speaker 4 (08:30):
Is this going to be edited? Will he change his mind?
Speaker 2 (08:33):
And you know, it took like a week for that
interview to come out after we did it, and he
sent me the clip also that he sent to her,
so I was like, Okay, I guess it is going
to be in here and then I'll never forget. I
was at my friend Dahlia's restaurant, Tilly's, and the interview
came out while I was there waiting to pick up
my food, and it was just listen.
Speaker 7 (08:52):
I remember you calling me after the interview and I
was saying, you were telling me about it. I said,
there's no way this is ever going to air. They're
never going to let this air. You were like, I
don't know. I'm like, no, angel this is not gonna
come out ever.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
His one thing he said to me before the interview
was ANGELA, I don't want to dwell on this too long,
so you know, if you want to ask me about it,
because he did a song about it. They were on
red carpets together, so it felt kind of obvious, but
it had never been said.
Speaker 4 (09:17):
All right, now.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Jada also talked about keeping her promise with Will Smith.
Speaker 4 (09:23):
They just don't want to get divorced.
Speaker 10 (09:25):
I made a promise that there will never be a
reason for us to get a divorce.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
We will work through whatever.
Speaker 10 (09:33):
And I just haven't been able to break that promise.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
But you still live separately.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
We live separately, they live separately.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
Well, there you have.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
This is that marriage, marriages whatever you define it right.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
Well, legally, I think is a different definition than emotionally.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
You know, so there's people who are.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Married legally and have been married and haven't been together
in years, sometimes decades, but haven't gotten divorced officially.
Speaker 4 (10:00):
It's a difficult thing, all right. Well that is your utm.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
When we come back, we have about last night, and
I'm excited for this one for us to talk about
what we did last night. We actually went to our
Broadway play Yes, and it was really good and it
was your first one. So you guys got to listen
because if you're in New York or you're coming here
and you want to go to a play, we have
a great suggestion for you that we really enjoyed, and
we'll discuss it in about last Night.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
It's way up with Angela ye last night.
Speaker 5 (10:25):
So about last.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
Night last night, last night, Desid went down.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
It's way up at Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee. And
Jasmine brand is here.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
Good morning, a brand of my own brand.
Speaker 4 (10:37):
Shout out to Jamil Hill. We just saw her, Yes,
in the hallway. I love her. She's she's dope. She'd
be doing her thing.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Yes she does. She gets the people talking too.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Yes she does, with no remorse, Like I don't care.
I'm gonna say what I have to say. All right,
So about last night, Jasmine Brandon, I am Paris, my
friend Paris. We all went to go see a Broadway play, Yes,
Jade Joe's African here. And you know what, I didn't
really know much about it until I went okay right,
I was like, all right, let me just go because
(11:06):
they actually did sponsor Angela.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
E day I had free hair braiding.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
Okay, arrest and so that was part of it. I
was like, I need to go see this place. So
we made time to do that. So the African hair
braiding shop is in Harlem. Yes, by the way, set
is amazing.
Speaker 3 (11:23):
It looks really good.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
The outside of it. It looks just like an African hair
braiding salon.
Speaker 7 (11:28):
And as soon as they turned it around so we
could see the inside of everyone started clapping.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
Did you peep that?
Speaker 4 (11:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (11:32):
Yeah, because it looks so good, like with the hair
hanging on the wall, the different pictures of the different hairstyles.
Speaker 4 (11:37):
First thing I said to you, I was like, what
hair steale am I about? To goodness?
Speaker 9 (11:41):
Right?
Speaker 4 (11:41):
All right, So this is.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
A day when we know, these summer days when you're
in the hair salon all day and it's like one
hundred degrees.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
The air conditioner's not working the.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Way that it should, so it's a hot day in
the hair salon. And you see the people that work
in the hair salon, the different struggles and things that
they're going through, right, their relationships with each other, and
then the customers who come in, and not just customers,
but also people who come in selling socks, selling jewelry.
Speaker 7 (12:06):
It's a real experience of how it is when you
go get your hair braided.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
You know what's so interesting to me whenever I go
cause I this is your first ever Broadway play for
I've never been to a play on Broadway ever.
Speaker 4 (12:16):
All right, so what did you think?
Speaker 7 (12:18):
Well, first of all, you've talked about going to plays
on Broadway, and you know, I don't know, Like for me,
I always thought they were gonna be a little boring,
right because I feel like some of them are. Yeah,
because when I think of Broadway plays, I feel like
a lot of black and brown people don't go to
plays a lot of times. And the tickets are expensive
for a lot of these plays as well. It's not
something that we go to a lot. So I was
just expecting to be a little bored. But I was
(12:38):
just like, I'm gonna even I told you, like, I'm
gonna have to try to stay up for this, Angela
because I just flew into town. There's some coffee up
lifts people. You made me some coffee from your coffee brand.
It was super funny for this to be my first
This is set in the bar hide.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
I told you that this was a great first place
because it was very relatable because we get our hair braided.
We do, so we know what it's like. I've been
in the African hair braided too. Yeah, I had to see.
It was like one woman came in and she was
like she wanted micro braids, and everybody turned their back,
like no one wants to do that, because that's an
all day thing when you have to give somebody micro braids. Now,
one thing I didn't experience is anytime they wanted to.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
Talk about price, they take you outside.
Speaker 7 (13:16):
Now I've never experienced that either. And I've gone to
African braiding spots and I've gone to other braiding spots.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
I've never saw it.
Speaker 4 (13:22):
Is that a thing I didn't know?
Speaker 3 (13:23):
But maybe that's a Harlem thing.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
So while we see the different relationships about, you know,
stealing other people's customers, and that happens in barbershops, hair salati,
hair braided spots all the time, there's also some serious conversations,
you know, when you're here and you don't have your
papers right. Because one of the characters, her mom is
actually Jadja, who owns the hair braiding spot. Yes, you know,
(13:48):
I'm not going to give more than this away, but
imagine the difficulty of being young being in the United
States since you were four years old, right, so not
even knowing she's from Senegal, what that's like to have
lived there, she doesn't know the language. She's been here forever.
So this brings up like the whole DACA dreamers thing
and getting your papers right and being able to be
a citizen, super smart, a valedictorian, but can't even go
(14:11):
to college because she doesn't have her papers, and really
contributing to society, paying, you know, doing all of the
things that you're supposed to do, but not having your
papers and the things that that prevents you from being
able to accomplish.
Speaker 4 (14:24):
And so it was just a really great play.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
If anybody, if you've never been to a Broadway play,
this is a great first one.
Speaker 7 (14:30):
It's the perfect one. It said, Like I said, Angela's
Saen in the bar really high for my next Broadway play,
I'm gonna go to.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
So shout out to Jocelyn Beal. She's actually the playwright
who wrote this play. She's a Ghanian American cool and
she did this play.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
So it was just an amazing just the entire cast.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
It was fun. Look I laughed a lot, but I
also got sad.
Speaker 3 (14:53):
I got said too.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
So it had us with all the emotions. All right,
now when we come back, tell us us secret. Eight
hundred two nine fifty one fifty is the number. It's
time for you to tell us a secret. And Jasmine's here,
I'm here. We want to hear your juiciest, deepest secrets.
And maybe it's something good, maybe it's something scandalous. Either way,
(15:15):
we love it. We want to hear it. We're nosy.
Eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty. Call us up,
tell us a secret. It's way up at Angela.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
Ye o ya.
Speaker 5 (15:24):
This is a judgment freeze on. Tell us a secret.
Speaker 4 (15:29):
It's way up with Angela.
Speaker 14 (15:30):
Yee.
Speaker 4 (15:30):
I'm Angela, yee. Jasmine brand is here.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
I'm here, Angela.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
It's time to tell us a secret.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
I feel like y'all got some good secrets and we
are here to not judge you. We're here to be
a space for you to feel safe to share with us.
Because Mayno's not here today. That's the only reason that's
safe to call in. Eight hundred two nine fifty one
fifty is a number. Call us up, tell us a secret. Hello,
anonymous caller, how are you?
Speaker 12 (15:54):
I'm excellent? How are you?
Speaker 4 (15:55):
I'm good? Thank you. It's me and Jasmine and we
are ready to hear your secret.
Speaker 3 (15:59):
Hear it?
Speaker 13 (16:00):
Okay, So it's the Hurricane Harvey Secret. The summer of
Hurricane Harvey, I was stationed in Houston. We was doing
a job for a place and I get a freendom
book request. You know what I'm saying. I'm there for
a couple of weeks. Don't know, anybody get a friend
book request. Take it because you know she's hot, So
of course you.
Speaker 4 (16:19):
Know I got.
Speaker 13 (16:23):
And then we start having a little bit of communication
and I realized that she thinks I'm someone from her past.
Oh but she was hot, and I didn't know nobody Houston,
so I rolled with it.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
You heard that you and somebody She thought it okay.
Speaker 13 (16:38):
And you know, I didn't confirm or deny. I just
didn't let her know. But we went out a couple
of times, and like the second time we were we
went back to the hotel and things got intimate and
she was really cool. I had to wait breath next morning, like, hey,
I hate to tell you this. Whoever you thought I was,
I'm not him.
Speaker 4 (16:59):
That's awful.
Speaker 13 (17:00):
So she started cracking up. She's like, I wondered if
you'd been working out something was a little different. But anyway,
I still know her to this day.
Speaker 15 (17:09):
Oh.
Speaker 4 (17:10):
Fortunately you can appreciate.
Speaker 13 (17:12):
The fact she could appreciate the fact that I had
to still to be She was just too cool. You
know what I'm saying, but yeah.
Speaker 4 (17:17):
At first, what calling you by the wrong name.
Speaker 13 (17:20):
She wouldn't call me by the wrong name. I don't
know if she remember the names. You know what I'm saying.
I'm like fifty years old, so you know a lot
of people she actually thought I was some guys she
used to know.
Speaker 4 (17:30):
Okay, so y'all still can most of it.
Speaker 13 (17:34):
We still are in touch.
Speaker 7 (17:35):
Yeah, relationship, Did y'all have sex?
Speaker 13 (17:39):
Not exactly a relationship?
Speaker 12 (17:41):
What after?
Speaker 16 (17:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (17:42):
After you told her that who you really were? Did
you have sex after that?
Speaker 13 (17:45):
Again? Yep?
Speaker 4 (17:47):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, okay, all right. He was just
playing along with it.
Speaker 3 (17:53):
He's buff because playing along with it.
Speaker 12 (17:54):
I wouldn't.
Speaker 13 (17:55):
I wouldn't exactly acting like I was him, But I
wasn't correcting her. Were like, hey, you cool, I gotta
I gotta keep it real.
Speaker 3 (18:03):
I'm not that dude, he told her.
Speaker 4 (18:06):

Speaker 2 (25:24):
With my brother, all right, and that Joe hosted, of course,
so you know that Joe has been doing a lot
of bat Collapse hostings. There was one thing that went
viral though, because we told you Sexy reperform and she
did ski and he messed that up a little bit.
Speaker 4 (25:41):
Listen to this shut shout out to Sexy.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
Okay, something difference, It's okay, all right, Well that is
your UTM. When we come back, we have under the radar.
Those are the stories that are not necessarily in the headlines.
They are under the radar, but super important. It's way
up the news news.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
This in the news that relates to you. These stories
are flying under the radar.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
Yes, it's way I put Angela Yee, I'm Angela Yee.
And Jasmine brand is here.
Speaker 3 (26:09):
I'm not just any brand, I'm my own brand.
Speaker 12 (26:12):
I know.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
That's right girl. Let them know, and it's time for
under the radar.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
These are the stories that are not necessarily in the
headlines but very important.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
Now we were watching this on the news this morning.
Speaker 2 (26:21):
The FTC has proposed a new rule to ban junk
fees that could save you a lot of money.
Speaker 4 (26:27):
So let's talk about junk fees.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
These are hidden costs so that when you get to
when you go to pay, ends up being a lot
more money than you anticipated. Like you know, how you
go to a hotel, for instance, or you buy tickets
on ticket master. Yeah, and so maybe the hotel was
one hundred dollars a night, but by the time you
pay for everything and checkout, it's one hundred and eighty
dollars and you're like, what happened?
Speaker 3 (26:49):
Yeah, like what are those resort fees include?
Speaker 2 (26:51):
Oh my gosh, they'd be like towels that, like, you know,
junk fees really end up costing you, so sometimes almost
double yeah, what you would have normally paid. So it's
like hidden costs and surprise fees that companies put on.
You know where else that happens a lot on when
you order food, like food delivery, you're like, okay, so
(27:11):
there's like a handling service charts and there's delivery tip
and you're like, how did this meal go from twenty
five dollars to forty dollars pleasant tip?
Speaker 4 (27:22):
And you're like, how did this happen?
Speaker 2 (27:23):
And so right now, there's a proposed rule that would
apply to many different industries to eliminate junk fees.
Speaker 4 (27:30):
Those are those hidden costs again.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
Or at least tell me beforehand.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
Now, the FTC does have the authority to move forward
with this rule without additional approval from Congress, according to officials.
And so Biden is continuing to push Bidenomics that would
focus on the everyday costs that hit American pocketbooks. It's
another chance for him to try to appeal to voters
getting rid of that. Okay, I'm with it, I would
love that.
Speaker 4 (27:52):
All Right.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Walgreens has named a new CEO as pharmacy staff walked
off the job this week, and that's of concerns that
working conditions are putting employees and patients at risk.
Speaker 4 (28:04):
All Right.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
Tim Wentworth, who formally headed express Scripts, which is a
pharmacy benefit manager, was named the CEO October. As of
October twenty third, so that's going to be happening now.
The exact scale of the pharmacist protests is unclear, but
organizers yesterday estimated that more than three hundred Walgreens locations
out of nearly nine thousand were affected by walkouts. That
(28:27):
are planned for Monday through Wednesday, and according to a
company spokesperson, no more than a dozen pharmacies did experience disruptions,
but it has led to upset customers medication errors, vaccination errors, needlesticks.
Speaker 4 (28:40):
Things like that.
Speaker 3 (28:41):
That's a big deal.
Speaker 10 (28:41):
It is.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
And a lot of Walgreens workers aren't unionized. And the
employees who are who walked out our organizing online.
Speaker 4 (28:48):
And they have three main requests.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
Improved transparency about shifting hours and schedules, set aside training
hours for new team members, and to adjust tasks and
expectations at each location based on staffing levels.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
Okay, all right, sounds fair.
Speaker 4 (29:03):
And jasmine the stories for you.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
Morgan State University leaders are planning to build a wall
around most of the northeast Baltimore campus after the shooting
that happened last week. They left five people injured during
homecoming festivities, so much so that they actually canceled the
rest of the homecoming festivities.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
Which never has never happened before.
Speaker 5 (29:22):
Now.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
The wall would extend existing barriers by about eight thousand
feet to encircle ninety percent of campus, and according to
the president, that would eliminate unfettered access. What was it
like for you on campus because you went to Morgan
State it was an open campus. Yeah, so people could
just walk on anyone. It's in the middle, it's in
the city, it's in Baltimore. It's open campus. You can
just walk on campus, you can walk off. So this
(29:46):
hopefully will be of some help. That's a scary situation.
Speaker 4 (29:49):
It's a safety concern.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
And according to the president David Wilson, he said, we're
doing this, let me be clear, not to keep out
our neighbors in our community. We're doing it to keep
out the bad actors. So you know, I guess something
like this happens and you realize we have to put
other measures in place. All right, it is a Wednesday,
and we do have the Way Up Mix at the
top of the hour, plus, we have Lynette Califani Cox
(30:11):
joining us today. She is the Money Coach, a New
York Times best selling author Zero Debt, The Ultimate Guide
to Financial Freedom, and she is going to be talking
about the student loan debt as student loan payments have
resumed on October fourth, first, they were paused for three years.
And now she's going to give you some of the
tools and necessary information that you'll need about these federal loans,
(30:33):
the difference between those and private loans, and how you
can figure out what you have and perhaps also give
you more information on income based repayment. How is that
working for people who may be unemployed or maybe they
just are making money through side hustles. All right, it's
a wealth Wednesday. It's way up with Angela Ye, way
up mix at the top of the hour.
Speaker 5 (30:52):
Way She's like a tout like.
Speaker 20 (30:55):
They Angela Jean like they and Jeli Jean Man.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
She's spilling it all this is well, whoa, it's way up.
But Angela Ye, I'm Angela Ye. Jasmine Brand is here.
Speaker 3 (31:07):
What's up? Angela? What's up?
Speaker 4 (31:09):
Jasmine Brand? Are you ready for some yeat?
Speaker 3 (31:12):
I'm ready?
Speaker 4 (31:12):
All right?
Speaker 21 (31:13):
Well.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
Former NFL player Sergio Brown, whose mother was found dead
last month near her home in Chicago, has been taken
into custody by authorities, and that is in connection with
his mother's death, according to a law enforcement source. Now
he would travel to Mexico and he was deported yesterday.
Taken into custody by US law enforcement officers near San
(31:35):
Diego based on an arrest warrant issued in Illinois. Police
are now working to transfer him from southern California to
the Chicago area. Mexican law enforcement officers have known where
he's been since at least September nineteenth. If you recall
this story, they discovered the body of his mother, seventy
three year old Myrto Brown on September sixteenth. Relatives alerted
(31:55):
police they could not find her or contact her or
her son.
Speaker 4 (31:59):
At that time.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
Sergio Brown's brother went on social media asking for help
and finding him because he was missing. Right after that happened,
and so you know, the family has issued a statement
and they said that there was sufficient evidence for an arrest.
The family also said they had not been in touch
with Sergio Brown since his disappearance.
Speaker 3 (32:21):
This is a bizarre story, right, I don't know what could.
Speaker 4 (32:23):
Have potentially happened, all right.
Speaker 2 (32:26):
Drake is the first rapper to hit eighty million Spotify listeners.
He is the third most listened to artist in the world.
Speaker 15 (32:33):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (32:35):
That's huge.
Speaker 4 (32:36):
Yeah, so congratulations to him for that.
Speaker 2 (32:38):
A lot of criticism about Drake as of recent but
he's third behind Taylor Swift.
Speaker 4 (32:44):
And The Weekend.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
Have you listened to Drake's new album.
Speaker 4 (32:46):
Yeah, to be honest, I've listened to It's a long album.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
So every time I started listening to it, like in
the car and on a treadmill, I get through about
half of it and then I start all over again.
So I've heard the beginning of the album way more
than I've heard the end of the album. But I
already told you I like this sexy Red and says
a song I like the j J of course, and
we've been playing that up here. Yeah, that's probably why
I like it.
Speaker 4 (33:07):
Yeah, Jake Cole killed it. Yeah he did all right.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
Now, speaking of Taylor Swift being one of the top
most dreamed artists, Kelsey has become Prime videos most watched
documentary film ever wow in the United States. Yes, it's
a documentary chronicling you know, the Kelsey Brothers, and it
permiered on September twelfth. It had the biggest first three
days ever for a documentary film in the US and
(33:30):
debut at number one and remained in the top five
movies on Prime Video throughout the first three weeks of
its release. And so they said they are extremely proud
of Kelsey and thrilled this year and its record setting success.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
With our partners at NFL.
Speaker 3 (33:42):
Films, Angela and what do you call it? What kind
of effect do you call this?
Speaker 4 (33:45):
The tailor effect, a swift effect? Listen?
Speaker 2 (33:49):
All right, And Travis Scott his tour tickets are reselling
right as low as seven dollars because according to reports,
there is a lack of demand and so if you
look online you can see it. Some of these resellers,
some of the tickets are going like like we said,
seven dollars, eight dollars, nine dollars.
Speaker 4 (34:07):
So some of these resellers definitely lost some money on that.
Speaker 3 (34:10):
I wonder how your producer Dan feels about this.
Speaker 4 (34:12):
He loves Travis Scott and he loves Travis.
Speaker 3 (34:16):
Got merch, Yeah, he'd be rocking at merch boll oh
he has merch on now.
Speaker 4 (34:20):
Okay, I wonder what the value of that is is
going to end up being?
Speaker 13 (34:26):
All right?
Speaker 2 (34:26):
And Tory Lanez has reapplied for bail pending an appeal,
so they filed a motion for his release on bail
because they're trying to still appeal that sentence. The new
motion was shared by of course Megan Kuoniff yesterday. She'd
be on it, yeah, she said. The arguments are nearly
identical to the motion. Judge Herriford rejected at the September
fourteenth hearing in La the one where Lane's called me
(34:47):
a googly, i'db is what she wrote on social media,
got a sense of all right, and Sherry Shephard is
talking about Barbara Walters, and she was talking about how
Barbara Walters did actually hook up with a black man.
Speaker 4 (35:03):
At one point.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
This story came up on yesterday's episode, well, today's episode
Right of Sherry as she reunited with Joy Bahar and
they discussed some stories from their time together at the View.
Speaker 4 (35:14):
And here's what she said.
Speaker 6 (35:16):
I told Joy that I had run into Paul Mooney,
and Paul Mooney has said that he called Barbara Walters
with Richard Pryor. I came back and I was like, Joy, yes,
what And then I was like, don't tell nobody walked
and he walked in and that's what he's saying.
Speaker 3 (35:31):
Don't act like you don't remember.
Speaker 6 (35:32):
I said, it was just me and Joy and I
said and Joy, and I'm like, don't tell nobody.
Speaker 3 (35:37):
The next day Barbara walks in and you go soak.
Speaker 6 (35:41):
I didn't say you told me, no, you did, but
she said, I'm like, so you slipping Richard Pryor.
Speaker 14 (35:47):
Wow, Richard Pryor had a life by the way, he
has been around if you guys recall, according to his widow,
he even slept with Marlon Brando.
Speaker 3 (35:58):
Interesting, No, I've was cute.
Speaker 2 (36:02):
Yeah so And you know, Quincy Jones said that Marlon
Branda would f anything well, but he was definitely very
open and very sexual.
Speaker 4 (36:12):
It was cool no matter who it was. He was
what we would call I guess.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
Uh, all right, well that is your yee t. And
when we come back, we have some valuable information. As
people who are shoppers, we want to tell you some
of these things that are happening. Because today's Prime Day
the end. The Prime Day yesterday it started, today's the end.
I know you've been shopping up a storm.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
I have, as have I.
Speaker 4 (36:34):
It's way up at Angela, ye.
Speaker 5 (36:37):
Ye back at it.
Speaker 2 (36:41):
Al is on all right, it is way up. But
Angela ye Angela yee. Jasmine brand is here.
Speaker 3 (36:48):
I'm here, Angela, I see you present.
Speaker 4 (36:51):
Get off Amazon Prime.
Speaker 3 (36:53):
That's exactly what I'm mind.
Speaker 4 (36:54):
It is so right now.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
You know it's Prime Day was yesterday and today, but
it ends today. And so I know it's funny because
a few different people said to me, when is Prime Day?
Speaker 4 (37:04):
And it actually is going on right now.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
Yes, so this is the time to buy those things
that you never knew you needed, like eyelash conditioner.
Speaker 3 (37:12):
As soon as you said that to me, I said, ooh,
I was.
Speaker 4 (37:14):
Like, they have eyelash You said I need that.
Speaker 3 (37:17):
We both need it.
Speaker 4 (37:18):
Why do you need eyelash conditioner?
Speaker 3 (37:20):
Because we do a lot of things with our eyes.
Speaker 7 (37:22):
We have lashes and all kinds of you know, eye
shadows and stuff, and I feel like we should just
kind of spend more quality time with our lashes and take.
Speaker 4 (37:29):
Care of them. All right, Well, here's some things that
are on sale right now.
Speaker 3 (37:32):
Okay, all right.
Speaker 2 (37:33):
First of all, you can buy if you need a laptop,
the MacBook Pro is on sale. I'm just putting that
out there because I saw that that doesn't happen too often.
And iPods are on sale too, the air pods. Okay, yeah, okay,
did I say there AirPods? You said iPads or iPods?
You said iPods?
Speaker 4 (37:48):
But the mini iPads on sale.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
Took new to bullet for everybody, And listen, I'm a
big fan of having a new tub bullet to make
your own juices.
Speaker 4 (37:56):
At home.
Speaker 2 (37:57):
I definitely have one of those also. So let's talk
about other things that are on sale. Quite this vacuum
cleaner that's good for cleaning inside your car, but also
just quickly cleaning something like the stairs. If you have
pets and the hair gets all over the steps, that's
something good to have.
Speaker 3 (38:12):
Or if you have a kid, what did you buy?
I bought some sheets because my daughter pete in my bed.
Speaker 4 (38:17):
Oh say, the pee work you did already, But that's fine.
Speaker 3 (38:20):
Okay, So yeah, I bought some sheets. I bought a
few options of difference.
Speaker 4 (38:23):
She has like the pad underneath I do.
Speaker 7 (38:26):
But still it's just like girl. First of all, she
has her own room, in her own bed, but I like,
come sleep with me. I'm giving anyway. So I bought
some sheets.
Speaker 3 (38:33):
I bought cool.
Speaker 4 (38:35):
I know grown men who do that, so it's fine.
Speaker 13 (38:37):
Oh my god.
Speaker 3 (38:37):
I bought uh those like winter hats that have the
satin lining for her.
Speaker 4 (38:42):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (38:42):
Everything I bought basically.
Speaker 4 (38:43):
Was for your child. I've encouraged you to buy your
daughter a designer coat.
Speaker 3 (38:47):
Yeah, and I think I am gonna buy one.
Speaker 7 (38:49):
But you know what, I you know what I wanted
to see if they have on there, which they probably
don't air fryer because everyone tells me I need one.
Speaker 4 (38:56):
I believe I did see an air fryer on here.
You know what else? I also saw what is it
like this slow what is it called the slow cooker?
Speaker 17 (39:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (39:06):
Okay, crackpot, Yeah, crackpot. My mama loves her a crock pot.
Speaker 4 (39:10):
I know that's on there too.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
That would be good for you, angela crockpot.
Speaker 2 (39:13):
Listen you guys, I'm hosting the fiftieth anniversary hip Hop
event at the New York City Wine and Food Festival.
Speaker 4 (39:18):
That's happening this Sunday.
Speaker 2 (39:20):
With chef JJ Okay, and let me tell you I
did his show also, that's on Kleo TV.
Speaker 3 (39:25):
Okay, And I learned how to make a new dish,
did you?
Speaker 4 (39:28):
Yes? I did so I'm excited about that.
Speaker 3 (39:30):
So yes, are you going to talk about that after
the are you going to talk about it next week?
The dish?
Speaker 2 (39:34):
She it's called chicken gisato. Yes, there's also a sparkling
water maker.
Speaker 12 (39:41):
I like that.
Speaker 4 (39:41):
So you like anything. Here's the problem on a daylight
today when.
Speaker 2 (39:45):
All these different things are and I would love for
you to hit us up and tell us about some
of the nonsense things that you bought that you probably
never used. But there's all kinds of things that's available.
A blood pressure monitor is a good one that could.
Speaker 3 (39:57):
Be helpful if you have high blood pressure.
Speaker 2 (39:59):
Yeah, that's I a really good one because this one
has a Bluetooth connectivity and it can also accommodate an
unlimited number of users. And so that's important to keep
control of that because we always talk about our heart
health and our blood pressure.
Speaker 7 (40:12):
I said I needed that when I was pregnant. I
had to go find me someplace to check my blood
pressure when I was here with you, I was like,
I think this was right before you day and I
was trying to check my bloodressure. I had to go
to like one of the cvs with Walgreens. And I
could have really used one of those if you had
one in your home. So maybe you should get one.
Speaker 4 (40:26):
And one last thing I want to say that's on
sale ring video Door.
Speaker 3 (40:29):
I could always use that.
Speaker 2 (40:30):
There's a lot of different ones and a lot of
different packages, and so you know, we all need that.
They're pretty easy to set up once you have it,
but mine goes off. You know, everybody's ring goes off
all the time because it picks up the motion detector.
But I definitely have seen a lot of things on
my ring. I saw a drug deal happen in front
of my house, some type of exchange, Yeah, I did
on the ring. I was like, should I download this?
(40:53):
Shout out to the neighbors. But yeah, so there you
have it, just letting you guys know, are you going
to buy anything?
Speaker 17 (41:00):
You know what?
Speaker 2 (41:01):
I am trying to do better because right now I'm
cash poor with a lot of different investments going on.
Speaker 4 (41:06):
So I've been using my own money for everything. So
I don't have a lot for this.
Speaker 2 (41:10):
But if there's something that I need, like there's cress
white strips on, there's some small things that I can
probably manage, splurge. Yeah, I can splurge on. But I've
been doing my best at not doing too much. But today, baby,
sometimes I think I have a shopping addiction because I'm like,
I want to you love to shop.
Speaker 4 (41:28):
I want something I relaxed. Yes, well you know you.
Speaker 3 (41:30):
Shop more than me.
Speaker 2 (41:31):
All right, Well, you guys speaking of money and making
sure that we budget, you know, we are going to
have Lynette Kafani Cox coming up today for Wealth Wednesday.
And she's a personal finance expert. She has fifteen money
management books. Wow, so she's a great resource. She's also
a New York Times bestseller. She's been on over one
thousand TV segments nationwide. So she's been on The Today Show,
(41:52):
the Steve Harvey Show, Good Morning America, She's been on OPRAH.
And she's going to be talking about federal student loan payments.
You know, those payments have resumed on October first. It
was paused for three years, and there's some valuable information
if you owe some money. It's way up at Angela
Yee happy with Wednesday.
Speaker 18 (42:09):
I'm you ride a way up with Angela Ye.
Speaker 2 (42:15):
All right, it's way up at Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee.
And Jasmine brand is here. Yes, There's so many things
I want to say, So let me tell you something.
Speaker 17 (42:22):
You know.
Speaker 4 (42:22):
I watched the show Love is Blind m H.
Speaker 2 (42:25):
And one thing I learned I was reading this article
right because Lydia, who's on Love is Blind, ouch, who
I can't stand she was, I guess following or looking
at the stories of some of the girls that he
was dating and then hitting them, and the women were like,
why is she all in my stories?
Speaker 4 (42:42):
Who is this person? So he confronted her about it.
Speaker 2 (42:45):
So I was reading an article about this and in
the article, I don't know if I should disclose this information,
but I just felt like it's good.
Speaker 4 (42:51):
I want to share because I'm that type of person.
Speaker 2 (42:53):
Okay, did you know that if somebody has a public profile,
there are websites where you can look at that person's
page without them knowing that you viewed it.
Speaker 4 (43:04):
Oh, I did not know that, So I found that out.
Speaker 2 (43:07):
Why they were because the person that wrote this article
was like, I don't know why she wouldn't just use
one of the many different apps or websites where you
can view someone's page with anonymously without them seeing you.
So I checked it out and it didn't work. So
for everybody out there with their fin stuff fake Instagram pages,
you no longer have to do that. And then when
(43:29):
you get blocked, you know you have to go and
create a whole new account. You write one stupid comment
and then the person blocks you, and now you got
to start all over from scratch again. There are actually
pages out there that you can use, websites, apps where
you can anonymously view only if the person is public
their page without them seeing it and knowing it.
Speaker 3 (43:49):
Interesting.
Speaker 2 (43:49):
I feel like everybody has done that though, Like everybody's
gone to look at someone's page that they're not supposed
to be on.
Speaker 4 (43:55):
So just throwing that out there for you guys to know.
Speaker 2 (43:58):
I wasn't going to say anything, but then I was like,
for all my ladies out there, y'all need to have
this information, and if you need to know the link,
hit me up.
Speaker 4 (44:07):
I got you dash.
Speaker 3 (44:08):
She's here to.
Speaker 4 (44:08):
Help, all right.
Speaker 2 (44:09):
And speaking of here to help, we do have a
Wealth Wednesday today. You know, the freeze is over for
student loan payments that ended on October first, So after
three years no more student loan debt being paused, we
got to get back to paying. And we do have
a personal finance expert, Lynette Kafani Cox, the Money Coach,
joining us for our Wealth Wednesday. She is a best
(44:32):
selling author New York Times bestselling author Zero Debt, The
Ultimate Guide to Financial Freedom. She's been on over a
thousand segments nation wide, including The Today Show, Good Morning America, Oprah,
The Steve Harvey Show.
Speaker 4 (44:42):
We are thrilled to have her with us.
Speaker 2 (44:43):
She's going to talk about how you can figure out
what you owe, what type of loan you have, and
the different things that you can do to actually maybe
even erase your debt or get it lowered based on
your income. It's way up with Angela ye Wealth Wednesday.
I had a dream of wealthy and I don't mind
my wealth.
Speaker 1 (45:00):
Dog getting you straight financially, mentally and physically. This is
Wealth Wednesday on Way Up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 2 (45:07):
What's episwey up with Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee and
it is a Wealth Wednesday. So of course my partner
Stacy Tisday is here.
Speaker 4 (45:13):
Happy Wealth Wednesdays, everybody.
Speaker 15 (45:15):
We are very excited to have hopefully some relief for
all of you because I know a lot of people
out there started paying their student loans back this month.
And yeah, Bachtelber first, Yes, So we're really excited to
have the money Coach Lynette Calfani Cox, who is a
New York Times bestselling.
Speaker 4 (45:32):
Author of Zero Debt.
Speaker 15 (45:33):
She spent on over one thousand TV segments, including Oprah.
Speaker 4 (45:37):
Steve Harvey, Steve Hard Morning America.
Speaker 15 (45:40):
YEP, and she co owns a financial education company, The
Moneycoach dot Net LLC.
Speaker 4 (45:46):
With her husband Earl so, Lynette, thanks so much for
being with us.
Speaker 22 (45:49):
Thank you my pleasure.
Speaker 2 (45:51):
Now, some people did get their student debt canceled, right,
Is that correct? Because I know at first they were
trying to get this bill passed and it didn't go pass,
but then the Biden administration managed to still make that available.
Can you tell us something about that some people might
not even know that they do have access to that.
Speaker 11 (46:08):
You're correct, Angela. We went through this period where there
was a big fight that Biden tried to push through
loan forgiveness up to about twenty thousand dollars, especially for
folks who got pill grants while they were in school.
And pell grants, of course are given to the neediest
student borrowers. But bottom line, Supreme Court said, nah, you
(46:30):
can't do that, and so immediately Biden was like, okay,
well I'm going to take another rap. He really has been,
in my opinion, trying to deliver on that promise of
student loan relief. So they did a number of other
measures to provide some you know, kind of financial cushion
for folks. So one is they actually did cancel, as
(46:51):
you mentioned, billions and billions of dollars worth of debt
for people in specific categories. So some are folks who
had disabilities. Some areolks who had been making payments and
who were under a public service loan forgiveness plans of
various kinds. But they might have had a technical reason
why their loan was not forgiven, maybe they didn't fill
(47:14):
out a form on time. But they were like, look,
these people have been making the payments. They get, you know,
the relief that they were promised, but it's been billions
and billions of dollars. Actually that has been forgiven this
Supreme Court decision notwithstanding.
Speaker 2 (47:28):
Right now Stacy Tisdale and I are talking to Lynett
Kafani Cox the money codes for Wealth Wednesday.
Speaker 15 (47:34):
One thing I really want you to break down for
our audience. In addition, they kind of built an onboarding
process into the student loan repayments that started October first,
and kind of put in a lot of safeguards for people.
Can you tell us about those I know, for example,
they're not going to report you to credit bureaus for
a year. A lot of people don't know this stuff,
so really break it down to know way our audience
(47:56):
can understand.
Speaker 11 (47:58):
So they created what they called a twilve month on
ramp period really to ease the transition back towards paying
student loans. So then over the next month, over the
next twelve months, rather if you don't make a payment,
or if you are laid or make a partial payment,
they're not going to be reporting you to the credit bureaus.
(48:18):
They're not going to throw your loan into delinquency. They're
not going to put you in default status again all
those things can hurt your credit. They're not going to
be adding on extra interest, finance charges, penalty fees, things of.
Speaker 3 (48:33):
That nature, So they're really doing a lot.
Speaker 11 (48:35):
You're not going to be subject to wage garnishment, which
would have been the case before if you were, you know,
in a default status, that kind of thing.
Speaker 4 (48:42):
And these are those your federal loans, Is that correct?
Speaker 2 (48:45):
Just federal loans, yes, And all of this is all
exclusively for federal loans.
Speaker 11 (48:51):
You can get some relief and that's a whole separate
track through your private student loans as well, but you
have to really go to your lender specifically or your
loans servicing company.
Speaker 15 (49:01):
How can people find out about their loans federal and private?
Speaker 11 (49:05):
So first off, if you have federal student loans, you
should absolutely log on to studentaid dot gov and then
that's the site where you know the federal government. You'll
be able to track and see your federal student loans.
They will show you the status of your loans and
the amount of your loans, and they'll start you'll start
(49:25):
to be able to see, okay, what options exist for me.
The same thing is true with your private student loans.
So certainly if you remember, oh, okay, I had a
loan from Discover, I got a loan from you know,
via Sally May or you know, I got a loan
from Xyz Bank. If you remember that, then of course
you want to reach out to those specific lenders or
(49:47):
the loan servicing company that might be handling your payments. Otherwise,
you can also look on your credit reports. That's a
great place to find information because again you forgot, but
they forget it is on your credit okay, And then
you can reach out to them to contact them to
start that process or to ask to inquire what options exist.
(50:09):
Especially if you're in a hardship of any kind, it's
always a good idea to reach out to a creditor,
you know, let them know the circumstances and see what
relief might exist.
Speaker 4 (50:21):
And that's very true.
Speaker 2 (50:21):
I had student loans myself, and one thing that I'm
happy that I did was when I couldn't make those payments,
I deferred them.
Speaker 4 (50:29):
And I think I did that like three times.
Speaker 2 (50:31):
But at least I was able to do that because
it would have been worse to just ignore it and
not pay it. All right, we have more whit Lynnette
how Funny Cox, the money Coach. When we come back,
we'll be talking about income based and repayment for people
to pay back their student loans. So now there's new
ways you can do things. It's a brand new income
based repayment program. We have more on that when we
(50:52):
come back. It's way up at Angela Ye.
Speaker 1 (50:54):
Kind a dream of wealthy and I don't mind sharing
my wealth dogs getting you straight financially, mentally and physically.
Speaker 5 (51:01):
This is Wealth Wednesday on Way Up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 4 (51:04):
What's up? Its way up at Angela Ye.
Speaker 2 (51:06):
I'm Angela Yee and my Wealth Wednesday partner's Stacy test
delitary with me. We're talking to the Money Coach to
Lynette Calfini Cox, So can you talk to us about
what the Biden administration has done.
Speaker 4 (51:16):
As far as income based repayment, they.
Speaker 11 (51:19):
Actually have tweaked the entire formula for repayment. Yeah, they're
gonna be pleasantly surprised to see, oh, wait a minute,
my payments are gonna be way, way, way less than
they were before. And they did this in a number
of ways. So, first of all, they are reducing the
amount of discretionary income that you have to put towards
(51:41):
student loan repayments. At one point it was like twenty percent.
Then they have ten percent of your discretionary income that
has to go towards it. This year, in twenty twenty four,
it's going to be five percent of your discretionary income
that has to go towards it. So they're knocking folks
payments down in half right.
Speaker 8 (51:58):
Off the back.
Speaker 11 (51:59):
Then some people are going to who are basically considered
low income. If you're making like fifteen dollars an hour,
you're gonna actually qualify for zero monthly loan payments.
Speaker 3 (52:13):
And the good news is that even having a.
Speaker 11 (52:15):
Zero specialist for folks who owe like twelve thousand dollars
or less, they're saying, well, after ten years of payments,
whatever you owe. It is just gonna be written off.
Now ten years is half the time that it was before.
Before it was like twenty years, you have to be
paid twenty five years. So they're really cutting in half
a lot of the ways in which people have to
(52:37):
make payments, either by saying you're gonna have to contribute
less of your available cash or you're gonna pay for
a shorter amount of time. So they'd have this new
program that is income based. It's called the Save plan,
and that one is replacing what was called the pay plan.
(52:57):
It was pay as you earn, and then they had
a revised program called repay. But basically those two programs
are kind of going away. They're being replaced by the
Save program. So I really would encourage people, you know,
show them what your income is and see what your
new monthly payment is based on this income based payment
program called Save, You're probably gonna be very very very
(53:19):
pleasantly safe.
Speaker 4 (53:20):
Sounds way better than pay and repay. I just want
to that is amazing you now you're telling us.
Speaker 15 (53:29):
They were like, okay, listen, where do people find save again?
Speaker 11 (53:33):
Studentaid dot gov is where they get all the information
on that for the federal loans.
Speaker 2 (53:39):
All right, well, thank you so much for this timely conversation,
Lynette c. Finie Cox the money Coach, And once again,
where can people find you if they need more information?
Speaker 11 (53:48):
Sure they can find me at my free financial advice
site askdomoneycoach dot com.
Speaker 9 (53:54):
We're gonna have some.
Speaker 11 (53:55):
Uh specialty content up there just around this. You have
student loans and how do you manage your student loans
in twenty three and twenty twenty four going forward?
Speaker 15 (54:07):
Thank you so much for explaining so much and teaching
us so many new things, Lynette, always a pleasure.
Speaker 2 (54:12):
Thank you all right, well, thank you so much to
Lynettekawfani Cox for joining us. And remember you guys, the
worst thing that you can do when it comes to
repaying those student loans is nothing.
Speaker 4 (54:22):
Do something.
Speaker 2 (54:23):
And when we come back, we have ask Ye eight
hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty is a number.
Call us up if you have any questions. Jasmine Brand
and I are here to help.
Speaker 1 (54:31):
Makes sense with its relationship for career advice, Angela's dropping facts.
Speaker 2 (54:35):
You should know this is ask Gee, What's up? Its
way up with Angel Lagee. I'm Angel Lagee and Jasmine
brand is here with me, and it's time for you
guys to call in and let us know any question
that you have. Eight hundred two nine two fifty one
fifty is a number. Hello Jordan, Hello, Hey Jordan, how
are you are?
Speaker 4 (54:53):
I'm good, Thank you. Jasmine's here and we would love
to know what your question is.
Speaker 22 (54:57):
I'm currently unhappy with where I'm working.
Speaker 12 (55:00):
The play isn't great, the hours are really long, and
it's a really.
Speaker 4 (55:04):
Poor work life bound okay, and.
Speaker 22 (55:08):
So I've started to look elsewhere, applying doing some interviews.
There's wondering any advice in terms of granting myself to
other companies, but also just maintaining that focus where I
currently am.
Speaker 5 (55:19):
To not go off the rails.
Speaker 2 (55:21):
Listen, I've had these experiences myself, so I cannot wait
to talk to you about this. But as far as
where you are currently right, no matter what you're doing,
you never know who's watching. So when you have a job,
even though you may not be happy there and ready
to leave, you can never.
Speaker 4 (55:34):
Act like that.
Speaker 2 (55:35):
You still have to show up and do what you're
supposed to do to the best of your ability, because
the worst thing you want to do is having work somewhere.
I don't know how long you've been there, but you
don't want to burn a bridge when you know you're
on the way out right, And so knowing that you
have this plan and a plan is good because let
me tell you something, there's people who will be at
a job that they hate and complain, complain, complain, but
don't do anything about it. So I commend you for
(55:57):
knowing that your time is up. Yep, you got to
look for something else and keeping that in mind. One
day you won't be here anymore. But you also don't
know if somebody else in another department is paying attention
to how you are. You don't know where anybody else
might land later, So you don't want to burn the
bridge and you know, set everything on fire. You just
want to make sure you still show up, do your job,
(56:18):
mind your business, go home, and always stay on the
lookout for what's next, because you also don't know someone's
going to reach out for a potential employment, and you
don't want people to say negative things about you. Absolutely
all right now, as far as looking for another job,
the first thing is the impression that you make when
you walk in that room. How you're dressed, Yes, all right,
(56:38):
make sure that you look the part. Make sure that
you get there early. You don't want to be rushing.
You don't want to feel frazzled. You want to be
nice and calm. So give yourself time so that even
if you're running late, you're still going to be early,
you know, and show up like I would say, like
a few minutes before your interview time, so that they
know that you're serious, you're punctual because you don't want
to be late and you don't want to have anything
(57:00):
could go wrong on the way there.
Speaker 4 (57:02):
And just make sure you look the part.
Speaker 2 (57:03):
You're early and calm and practice, you know, think about
all the questions that you know they always ask on
an interview. Do your research on the company, so make
sure that you have questions that you can ask too.
That way, it will show that you came and prepared,
you know about the company. If you could even search
the person who's interviewing you, so that you have some
type of connection like oh, you know, I saw that
(57:23):
you went to whatever whatever school you know, I went
there also, or whatever whatever it is to make some
type of personal connection I think helps. But also to
show that you cared enough to research the company, because
a lot of times they'll ask you, do you have any.
Speaker 4 (57:36):
Questions for me?
Speaker 2 (57:37):
And you shouldn't just be like no, you should be like,
you know, I was wondering. I know you guys are
heading in this direction and with certain challenge.
Speaker 4 (57:44):
What is it that you know? Whatever it is, just
make sure you do your research. And when I say.
Speaker 2 (57:49):
Practice, it's good for you to think about questions that
they're going to ask you, but don't seem rehearsed.
Speaker 4 (57:53):
You still want to seem natural.
Speaker 2 (57:55):
You still want to feel comfortable with your answers, but
you don't want to make it seem like you're reading
off of paper or you memorize something.
Speaker 12 (58:03):
Yeah, completely understand, and then.
Speaker 2 (58:05):
Afterward follow up. You know, even if it's a thank
you card. People don't normally take the time to do
those things. But after the interview, you know, just send
out a thank you card. Thank you for your time.
I really, you know, enjoyed sitting down with you and
hope to hear from you soon. Whatever it is, send
a thank you for their time, Express your interests, say
that this is something that you know you would really
