Speaker 1 (00:01):
You are what I call ye.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Way up with Angela Yee shout out supplies for that
class amazing song. Jazmine from the Jazmin Brand is here.
Good morning and new MANO is in the building with
a beautiful sweater.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Listen and with someone complimented, may not on his sweater.
May know what was up the record? May no, No,
that was not off the record.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
May know what was.
Speaker 4 (00:33):
Hey man, that's a nice sweater. It's expensive.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
He said, thank you, it's expensive, and that was not
off the record right now when he said money on
something and then people like acknowledge.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
That that's what but he's itching though, Yeah it looks good.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
It's cardigans. Well you know what, I get a lot
of compliments on this mirror that I have in the studio.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Just can you describe the mirror for other listeners?
Speaker 5 (00:57):
All right?
Speaker 2 (00:58):
So, and if you want to see it, you can
go on his page. Tree Unique is his Instagram. The
guy who made it, like Chad Dorsey. I actually saw
some of his work on Instagram. It's like made out
of a tree and it's really made out of it.
He makes tables and everything and it's standing up on
the floor. How tall do you think that is Angela.
Tell it to me, kind of easy, tell it at
(01:18):
all of us. But it's a nice oversized mirror. But
it's beautiful. And everyone comes in here and literally like
the first thing that they say is I love that mirror.
Speaker 4 (01:26):
Yeah, nice mirror. I like to use that mirror at home.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Okay, we just may know, we just start on the
show outfit.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
Yeah, I could see. I could see Mena went home
in front of the mirror with his expensive sweater around
and nothing else. But it's Ramadan? Is the rules with
sex and Ramadan? Let me see.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
No, there's no sex when the sunst of all, you're
supposed to be married, and when you have sex, I'm
not ill.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Okay, it's until the onset of dawn, so you still.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Secondly, you know the sun cannot be up when you
have intercourse?
Speaker 4 (02:03):
Who can Ramadan? So I'm not Muslim, I'm observing Ramadan
like I'm so overs and for my own purposes. But
what do you thinks?
Speaker 3 (02:12):
All around?
Speaker 4 (02:13):
I'm not eating, okay, but drinking you're drinking water? No
I'm not. I haven't had a drink of water.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
Okay, so you're not eating or oh that's that's intense.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
All right, Well, let's make sure we don't eat in
front of him.
Speaker 6 (02:24):
No, but you already had cookies laid out well, yes,
off the record, well yes, when Maino came in, I
didn't know he was doing Ramana, so I had some
snacks for Maino and he was like, what is this
all right?
Speaker 2 (02:36):
Well, listen, we got to get this show started, and
we always start with shining a light on him. Eight
hundred two nine fifty one fifty is a number if
you want to call in and shine a light on
somebody doing something positive, somebody who's made an impact in
your life, whether it's in the news or in real life.
We have somebody we want to shine a light on,
and then you guys call us up. Eight hundred two
nine two fifty one fifty. It's way up with Angela. Yee.
Speaker 7 (02:58):
Turn your lights on. Y'all are spreading love to those
who are doing greatness.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Shine light. It's time to shine a light on them.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Yes, it is way up with Angela. Yee. I'm here.
Jasmine from the Jasmine brand is here.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Is it health Day? Yes? Yes, Happy health Day?
Speaker 2 (03:16):
And Mano is here. Yeah new Mano.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
No those kind of low.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
Energy, Yeah, bring a little bit there we.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Go, there we go. And this is the part where
we shine a light on somebody doing something positive which
just makes us feel good and warm and fuzzy. And
let's shine a light on miss Anita. Now, if you
don't know who miss Anita is, she was the receptionist
here at iHeart for like I don't even know how long.
But she did retire, but she's not just like, you know,
just the receptionist, which is an important job, but she
(03:44):
was like the light in the whole entire building. And
she just came up here today to say hi to everybody.
So it's nice to see her. But if you guys
remember there was a moment that went viral with her
and Will Smith. Will Smith Yeah, hosted her.
Speaker 4 (03:59):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Yeah, that's how much people love her. Like people come
here and they're like, where's smiths Anita. I like how
you described her as the light. I love that you're
shining the light on the light. All right, Well let's
see who you guys want to shine a light on. Angie,
who do you want to shine a light on?
Speaker 8 (04:13):
I want to shine a light on my oldest son, Reggie, Reggie.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
Reggie, it's Reginald, but it's Reggie.
Speaker 9 (04:19):
You can call him Reggie.
Speaker 8 (04:20):
He is the best son in the world. Anytime his
mother is having any financial problems, he comes through. I
love it, like, I mean, yes, yes, he just helped
me with get in his younger brother some braces and
we all know how much races pours, right, and I'm.
Speaker 9 (04:38):
Like, oh my god, like he is the best son
that I.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
Could ever have.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
You raised him?
Speaker 4 (04:43):
Well, yes, thank you, buy myself.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
You know what an ideal situation that is your kids,
because your kids always want to be in a position
to take care of you and help you because you
do so much for them.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
And it's like she said, by yourself, by myself.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
It's like, right now, I'll just thinking about it.
Speaker 9 (05:00):
I just want to clause because he's the bestow.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
Oh Reggie, regend that is so sweet, so sweet. Well listen,
you deserve it. And you did an amazing job raising
him to get to that point to be able to
do that for you. And I know he loves and
he could do that for you clearly.
Speaker 10 (05:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (05:15):
Yeah, thank you, Reggie, love you, thank you.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
We love you. Natasha. Who do you want to shine
a light on?
Speaker 4 (05:21):
Hi?
Speaker 12 (05:22):
Good morning Angela, love your show. Well, first I want
to shine a light on my dad, he turning seventy
five this Friday, and all the other April babies, including
me and my sister and my nephews. Love you, Lauren
and Randolph Tech.
Speaker 9 (05:35):
Love you, but quickly, especially for my sister because she
is retiring twenty years in the service in the Navy,
not even going to go down her resume, but she's
done so much for like her family, the country, and
I'm just so proud and I love you, Lori Chesty, So.
Speaker 12 (05:53):
Congratulations, Happy birthday next week.
Speaker 9 (05:56):
You still go hear from me, and I'm just excited.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
For that's dope. Well, shout out to all the April babies.
I know that's an expensive month.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
For y'all right, yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
Everybody, all right, Well, thank you so much. We appreciate
your energy. Shine a light on him, thank you all right,
that would shine a light on him. I love that.
Eight hundred fifty one fifty is a number. And we
have a yet when we come back, let's talk about
a good deed that people are mad about, and we'll
tell you why. It's way up with Angela. Yee.
Speaker 7 (06:25):
They say in the rooms from industry shade to all
the gossip out Angela's spilling that eye.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Yes, it is way up with Angela. Yee. I'm Angela yee.
Jasmine from the Jasmine brand is here.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
Maino, I'm back.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
It's here and Jasmine. We've been wanting to get to
this drop for quite some time. Oh one more time.
Jasmine from the Jasmine brand is here. Brand Oh.
Speaker 3 (06:58):
My own brand.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
Okay, all right, you got that? Laugh is crazy?
Speaker 5 (07:04):
I know?
Speaker 4 (07:04):
Thanks?
Speaker 2 (07:07):
Is that really?
Speaker 13 (07:08):
No?
Speaker 4 (07:10):
Thanks?
Speaker 3 (07:11):
Thanks for my drop?
Speaker 2 (07:12):
If you go, don't not adjasmine wraps. All right, So
let's get into this et Ray Kwan. He was planning
to bring his Hashtoria business, the Cannabis Louns, to Newark,
New Jersey, and by the way, we talked about it
when it was happening. But unfortunately for him, Newark's Central
Planning Board denied his application. And he already has three
different locations of this, not in New Jersey, in Oregon,
(07:34):
but he wanted to bring this to New Jersey, and
unfortunately for him, they had the board meeting and Reverend
Doris Glasspy said, I pray that you will put this
somewhere else, not in the heart of Newark. We're not
against people smoking marijuana if they want to but they
can put it somewhere else. Yes, he's gonna have to
go to court to figure this out, and they feel
like it will get overturned because it was already approved
(07:57):
by landmarks. The landmark and historic preservation come. So now
it was just a longer process. But who knows. And
I feel like when you look at people who use
marijuana for medicinal purposes and all of that, it's not
like they actually it's going to be a bunch of
like drug is welcome around.
Speaker 4 (08:14):
This is pretty cool. It's not an issue.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
It's like having a little lounge.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
This is a new concept for a lot of people though,
especially older people. Yeah, they're not familiar.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
We got older people.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
They use they do use it, but they be smoking though. Yes,
all right now YouTuber mister Beast and by the way,
we just had some of his chocolate tip cookies minus man.
Know he didn't have one.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
Yeah, I'm on rama don okay.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
But he actually went viral yet again. Now he does
these good deeds, but some people have an issue with it.
Will tell you about this one. He was in a
restaurant and he was tipping a waitress. Here's what happened.
Speaker 13 (08:48):
What's the biggest tip you've ever gone fifty fifty dollars.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
Has anyone ever.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
Tipped a car?
Speaker 4 (08:54):
Have you seen our TikTok before?
Speaker 1 (08:56):
It's mister b is that ring a bell?
Speaker 2 (08:58):
This is not a car.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
Do you want to see this outside?
Speaker 12 (09:03):
Right over here, you'll see your brand new car.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
Yes, I was literally late to work today.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
He can go all right now. This was great, But
some people were mad at him for this ya because
it was like on the side of the car. It
was like a promo, you know, for him, and so
for some reason, his uh, his chocolate brand, Feastables, it
was on the side, and so people were like, oh,
(09:34):
this is a but so wet it can't be true.
I'm promoting my brand. But I also just did something nice.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
And you made somebody's dreams come true. You made somebody's day.
You probably made her the rest of her year because
if she didn't have a car, now she got some
way to get to work.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
And she was just saying she was literally in an
uber that was slow. So I'm sure she's super thankful
for this.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Yeah, somebody said, I'm gonna be honest, it's nice she
got a car, but I am not driving a car
around that has feastables on the side, and look she
was excited, Like, as you can.
Speaker 4 (10:04):
See, it doesn't matter whatever you do, it's always gonna
be somebody that's mad at it.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
Yeah, all right. Now, Glorilla has gotten a major deal
with Tommy Hill Figure, so she posted on social media.
I'm a big Alia fan and I love what she
did with them. I'm part of keeping a legacy going.
I feel highly favored because it could have been anyone
else but me. I got to make sure I keep
it going. Memphis is getting the notoriety it deserves. It's
refreshing to me because I love the old school and
(10:30):
being able to bring it to my generation. Y'all remember
how iconic that was Aliyah and Tyhill Figure. Yeah, so
congratulations to her. That's really really dope.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
I love how Glorilla is always shouting out Memphis.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
And I love that she's so thick.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
She thinks that I'm thick.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Yeah, she says, she's thinking it's a monster.
Speaker 4 (10:52):
You may think it's an you can feel thick.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
He's a big personality, she knows. She thinks all right,
and Magic Johnson has officially submitted his six billion dollar
bid to buy the Commanders that's right, the Washington Commanders.
So he's part of a group that submitted that offer,
and that's official now that he's at least submitted the offer.
So he's doing this alongside seventy six years owner Josh
(11:16):
Harris and billionaire and Mitchell Rills. Okay, so a lot
of people were talking about it, like Jeff Bezos, Jay Z,
Byron Allen and everybody. You know. They were making their bids,
but it looks like this might be the most serious one.
All right, and that is your Yet when we come back,
we have about last night. That's where we discussed what
we did last night. I know, Mana, when the sun
(11:37):
went down, he was going ham way up with Angela.
Speaker 7 (11:40):
Ye, so about last night last night, last night that
I went down.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
Yes, it is way up with Angela yee. I'm Angela
Yee Jasmine from the Jasmine brand. This was ever a
draft ready let me say that, and Maino is here.
We're going to get this right though. But yeah, so
it is about last night. So last night, I'm gonna
tell you what I did, man, because I know you're
a foodie. Also, have you ever had vegan food?
Speaker 4 (12:09):
Yes?
Speaker 8 (12:09):
I have?
Speaker 4 (12:10):
Do you like vegan food, not necessarily.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
See, that's a misconception.
Speaker 4 (12:15):
It's a quiet taste. I think, got to get used
to it.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
But there's so many different options, right it is.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
But I tried vegan Chinese food. I didn't really.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
That's very specific vegan Chinese food.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Yeah, because you could have like zucchini noodles. Yeah. Anyway,
So I did this whole vegan cooking show yesterday, black vegan.
And the only thing is this, for some reason, she thought,
shout out to Charlie. She thought that I eat fish.
I don't e seafood. I have not had fish ever
in my life ever never.
Speaker 4 (12:49):
You have never had no kind of fish.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
The only thing I've had, I will say one thing.
I had tuna fish in a can. Does that counts
very young?
Speaker 4 (12:57):
So well, why you never have fish?
Speaker 2 (12:58):
Because my mom doesn't eat food.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
So you never had whiting, You never had salmon.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
I've never had crab legs, lobster, shrimp. That is nothing. Okay,
Now what do people find that? Very odd?
Speaker 4 (13:14):
Very very odd? I never knew that.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
I also, so I realized that I'm a picky eater,
and there's a lot of things I've never had. Now,
is there a food that everyone's tried that you have
never had that's popular.
Speaker 4 (13:27):
I've never had coffee. That's not food. Never had coffee
you're going to by the way you're coming, I will
never tasted coffee. I don't eat beef. I don't eat pork.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
But you've had it ever.
Speaker 4 (13:41):
It's been so long, I don't even remember what it
tastes like.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
Yeah, but I'm saying like something you've never tried, like jasmine.
I've never had PASTRAMI me neither. I've never had you
know what. There's a lot of things I've never had.
I've also never had meat loaf.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
I've had meat.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
You've never had meat loaf.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
No, never had meat loft, never had.
Speaker 14 (13:59):
I've never had oxtails neither.
Speaker 3 (14:02):
Okay, so you like it, look at it. No, I
haven't had that either. I've had that. I've never had
like I have because I had the sauce.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
I'm from New York. I've never had shopped cheese. You
don't kill me after this.
Speaker 3 (14:11):
I never had that.
Speaker 4 (14:12):
You never had shop cheese. I'm from never had shopped cheese.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
So it was sad because she was gonna make me
this vegan fish right, and and it looked like it
would be amazing. I'll taste it. How was it?
Speaker 3 (14:24):
It tastes like catfish?
Speaker 4 (14:26):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (14:26):
And I don't eat seafood and change the whole menu.
Speaker 4 (14:29):
But let me just say this. You can't say you
don't eat something unless you try it, like you never
you're not allergic to it.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
First of all, that's what she said. No, But if
you never try it, you just like, why would I
force myself to like something I don't might love it,
I don't like the way it smells. And then if
I don't like the way something looks or the texture,
I'm not going to try it. Some people are very
experimental with food. I'm not.
Speaker 3 (14:50):
Have you ever had frog legs?
Speaker 2 (14:52):
No?
Speaker 4 (14:52):
No, I have. I had alligator before. I was that what.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
They say about everything taste like chicken tastes. We want
to ask you guys the same question. Are there some foods?
And the reason why I thought about this was obviously
that happened yesterday. It happens to me all the time.
But when we come back, we'll talk about, oh, we're
not doing this here. Okay, oh okay, okay, here's Wednesday,
so all right, Well, anyway, I was thinking about this
because Tessa Thompson was on the red carpet, and we'll
(15:18):
talk about that more a little bit later. But when
we come back, we do have tell us a secret. Oh,
eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifteen. Mana, I
know you love tell us a secret. You would never
skip it, all right, I mean you're not judging, right,
we are not judging, mano.
Speaker 4 (15:31):
I am all right.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
Eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty. Call us
up and tell us a secret. It's way up with
Angela yee.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
This is a judgment. Freeze all, tell us a secret.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
Yes, it's way up with Angela yee. I'm Angela Yee.
And Jasmine from the Jasmine brand is here and I'm
my own great hey. And Mayno, don't worry, Mayna, I
got some for YouTube you man I got something for
you too. Now you know this is tell us a secret.
This is where people call us up. Eight hundred two
nine two fifty one fifty. You are anonymous, so you
do not say your name. We don't even ask you
(16:02):
what your name is. And you can share anything with us.
And y'all have told us a lot of different things. Yes,
it's been a very diverse, a lot of secrets of
this a lot of secrets. Somebody called this, we should
post this one. He has two kids in the Dominican Republic,
one of the one of the possible right two kids.
He's not sure, but he's fine.
Speaker 4 (16:19):
But he went he went raw on the work out.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
There and yeah, y'all, but he doesn't mind because he
just sends like fifty dollars or something and he said
it's okay. He's like, I don't care, you know. Yeah,
And so that was one secret that somebody shared. There's
been some good ones up here. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
There was one about the guy that stole his cousin's
money from under her mouth was, man, did judge.
Speaker 4 (16:39):
On I'm still I'm still bothered by that.
Speaker 2 (16:42):
Man's forty two thousand dollars that lady back on money cousin.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
His blood pressure goes up every time we bring it up.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
He thought, MANA was going to be witted to like, yeah, man,
you did that.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
It was like uh uh and your only reason of
doing it because you felt like she wasn't gonna do
nothing with the money.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
It's so crazy. No judgment.
Speaker 10 (16:59):
Mayno.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
Two nine to fifty fifty is a number. Call us
up and tell us a secret. Hello, anonymous caller, tell
us your secret.
Speaker 13 (17:06):
I had a baby with another woman, and I'm in
a relationship with my girlfriend of three years.
Speaker 4 (17:14):
So you went in another female, No judgment. Well we break,
we were on break.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
Okay, you had a little break baby.
Speaker 13 (17:23):
Yeah, but she doesn't know.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
I haven't told her.
Speaker 2 (17:27):
Are you gonna tell her?
Speaker 13 (17:29):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (17:30):
Maybe?
Speaker 3 (17:31):
How does the break baby?
Speaker 4 (17:32):
The baby is a month old.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
Did you do a paternity test?
Speaker 12 (17:38):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (17:39):
No, I didn't.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
Are you going to?
Speaker 1 (17:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (17:41):
Do you do? You have a kid with your girlfriend?
Speaker 1 (17:44):
No?
Speaker 9 (17:45):
I don't.
Speaker 2 (17:45):
Oh that's tough. Well yeah, we can't say you judgment,
no judgment, but I will say, get that test.
Speaker 13 (17:53):
Okay, good luck, all right, thank you?
Speaker 2 (17:56):
All right, that's a tough secret. Yeah, all right, anonymous
call it. Tell us a secret.
Speaker 15 (18:00):
So my secret is it's probably childish now, but when
I was younger, it's to day a guy that was
like seven years older than me, and I wasn't supposed
to have guys in the house. My serious going out
of town, and I invited him over. And that was
the same night I lost my fugue.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
Oh wow, Well your parents went out of town. I'm
sure they knew you was doing something.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
Well, It was the.
Speaker 15 (18:20):
First time that they ever went out of town and
left me at home by myself, and was like.
Speaker 4 (18:26):
Did you did you do it in your parents' bed?
Speaker 2 (18:29):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (18:29):
No, God, no, it's not that bad.
Speaker 15 (18:35):
Well I guess no, But it was just the fact
of I've never gone again to my parents with anything,
so for me to do that, it was kind of.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
Like, ooh, and they probably trusted you. They gave the
speed tech. Listen, we're trusting you in the house, no company.
Speaker 4 (18:50):
You should tell them now, hey mom, hey dad, remember
and tell them.
Speaker 15 (18:55):
They definitely know now because they met him, and so like,
we're still together.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Now, okay, Well then that's fine. Is that the only
person you've ever been with?
Speaker 5 (19:08):
So?
Speaker 15 (19:08):
I dated two other guys, we broke up for a
little time, and then I end up having a kid
outside of our relationship. But he's a great damn.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
Let's so you married your first. That's well, you got
together with your first, that's nice.
Speaker 15 (19:23):
Yes, So we've been together ever since. So my daughter
loves him and they have a crazy bond to together,
which I think is anat So.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
How would your daughter be when you leave her alone
in the house?
Speaker 15 (19:37):
Oh gosh, you're probably way grown in her own house
of farles.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
All right, thank you for Colin.
Speaker 15 (19:44):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
Hello, Anonymous, Carla tell us a secret ANGELA.
Speaker 8 (19:49):
Oh my god.
Speaker 15 (19:52):
So I've been married for like ten years, but I
secretly like to masturbate to lesbian.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
Oh. I love that.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
Okay, you may don't have the same secret.
Speaker 4 (20:03):
Yeah, we have the same secret. I love lesbian porn.
That's the greatest.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
How did you how did you discover that the men
know how they want to be women know how to.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
And you know, some people like to watch poor enough
things that they wouldn't do or have never done.
Speaker 15 (20:17):
Right, And I've never done it.
Speaker 16 (20:19):
I've never done it.
Speaker 12 (20:20):
Not saying that I wouldn't, but I just haven't.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
Wait, now, hold on backup, so you would do it?
Speaker 15 (20:25):
I would?
Speaker 4 (20:25):
You should try it?
Speaker 12 (20:27):
But I'm happily married.
Speaker 4 (20:29):
Uh oh, well, introduce something new to the would you
ask it?
Speaker 2 (20:33):
Would you ask him like, let's do this?
Speaker 4 (20:36):
I would?
Speaker 2 (20:37):
All right?
Speaker 3 (20:37):
Can you check back in and let us know how
it goes?
Speaker 9 (20:39):
I can.
Speaker 2 (20:40):
Okay. I feel like he'll be fine with that.
Speaker 4 (20:42):
He probably will love it.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
All right, thank you?
Speaker 3 (20:44):
Thanks for sharing.
Speaker 2 (20:46):
All right? All right, Well that was tell Us a
Secret eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty and
we love y'all for trusting us and sharing with us,
even with Mayno's he're judging you.
Speaker 4 (20:54):
I'm not judging, but I'm just maybe a little bit.
Speaker 2 (20:57):
And when we come back, we have yet will talk
about Eva Marceus. She has filed for divorce from her husband,
Michael Sterling, and Jasmine Brand has the exclusive statement on
Way Up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
Up, Angela Yee is way.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Up, Yup with Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee and Maino's
here new Maido I am, and Jasmine from the Jasmine
Brand is here.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
Good morning.
Speaker 12 (21:20):
I'm not brand, I'm on.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
The okay, and it's time for that yee t man now, Mano.
I love this because you were here for this interview too,
and so were you. Jasmine Life after lock Up.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
What's going on with that?
Speaker 4 (21:33):
Yeh?
Speaker 2 (21:34):
Derek was arrested again. You know. Derek and Monique were
up here on Way Up with Angela Yee and they
were detailing all kinds of hell in love. They were
MENO believes.
Speaker 4 (21:42):
It, Yeah, I do. That's real love right there.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
Yes, And so apparently he has been arrested for fighting.
But by the way, Monique's sister is saying, y'all know,
Derek ain't go to jail for fighting Monique. He walked
in and walked right back out, smiling on his mugshot,
So stop asking me if he got locked up for
fighting her. And here's what he had to say up
here about whether or not they've ever gotten physical now, Derek, also,
(22:07):
your sister was on live and she was trying to
say that you guys had, you know, were abusive toward
each other physically, right, So what is the situation with that.
Speaker 4 (22:16):
We ain't putting our hands on each other. We have
our arguments, we ain't. It ain't coming to physical blow
or nothing like that.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
All right. So you heard it from Derek himself, and
Monique was here too, and he was arrested and taken
to jail for felonious assault, but he was soon released
after submitting a ten thousand dollars bond less than an
hour after he was arrested. And people are making a
lot of comments about his mugshot where he's smiling.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
He's happy to be there.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
No, he's not happy. Okay, he was just doing that
soft cast.
Speaker 2 (22:46):
They knew it was going to go everywhere, right, and he.
Speaker 4 (22:48):
Knew he was gonna get right out.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
And that's the one thing about a mug shot when now,
if you think about it, right, you know, in certain situations,
you know everyone's going to see it. Yes, are you
going to smile? Are you gonna be serious?
Speaker 4 (23:00):
Are you on your muck shots? I don't. I don't
have muck shots? Okay, those those days are long gone,
long gone, got it?
Speaker 2 (23:06):
But like just say, say you go into like a
brawl or something and you know you're gonna get arrested,
and you know everyone's going to see it. What would
you do in the mouch mom as well?
Speaker 4 (23:12):
Smile?
Speaker 3 (23:13):
Angela would just smile on your muckshot?
Speaker 2 (23:16):
I probably smiles, smile, smile with your eye. Okay, all right?
Eva marcelth from Real Housewives of Atlanta and of Course Actors.
She has filed four divorce from her husband, Michael Sterling.
They've been married for more than four years. And Jasmine,
you did get an exclusive right and you got a statement.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
Yeah, we got an exclusive statement from Mike and he says,
I'm not going to lose my wife. I'm going to
fight for her with every fiber in my being. I
love her and I plan to show her how much
I love her and that our love is strong enough
to get to the other side.
Speaker 4 (23:50):
Fight Fight, Fight.
Speaker 3 (23:51):
You can see this exclusive on the Jasmine brand.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
He would like I hit him up to see. But
that's good. So he's gonna fight for her. So it's
not a mutual thing. She filed for Boris. Clearly he
still wants to be together. We don't know what happened.
Speaker 3 (24:02):
And they have two children together. Yes, they have a
four year old and a three year old, and then
they have Marley. Well, they'd share Marley, and Marley is
with Kevin McCall.
Speaker 2 (24:11):
Now she is requesting legal and primary physical custody of
their two sons. By the way, Okay, all right, now.
Tom Hanks, he recently did he did an interview where
he was talking about an incredibly important movie from his
career that he feels like nobody is ever referencing. When
we ask you, what's your favorite Tom Hanks movie? What
(24:31):
would you say, Mayne.
Speaker 4 (24:32):
Fast, comp cast Away, Saving Private Ryan.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
I always forget Splash because that's listed here too.
Speaker 4 (24:41):
Splash. I saw it, But that's not like one of
the faiths. Okay, okay, this is another one.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
What about you? Jasmine Sully.
Speaker 4 (24:52):
Oh I'm I'm the.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
Captain, Yes, of saving Private Phillips, Captain Phillips Sully, Miracle
on the Hudson.
Speaker 4 (25:02):
Yeah, that's not a favorite one though.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
Yeah you just made that up.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
I did not actually did a deep die your favorite.
Speaker 4 (25:07):
That's not your favorite?
Speaker 3 (25:09):
Listen, Angela and Mano, How y'all going to tell me that
is not your favorite favorite? Because I couldn't think of
any but that's not your favorite. I don't like being
attacked about my favorite.
Speaker 4 (25:18):
Telling me that's better than life is stop it?
Speaker 2 (25:24):
When he was running America exactly nothing better than that?
Speaker 3 (25:28):
Oh Turner and Hooch, do you remember that?
Speaker 2 (25:30):
Come on, Jasmine? All right, well let's move on now.
Tom Hanks is talking about a movie that he feels
is incredibly important and none of y'all said this movie.
Here's what he had to say.
Speaker 4 (25:39):
For one reason or another, No one references Road to Perdition.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
And that was an incredibly important movie for the masterpiece
for me to go through.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
See nobody in here said it. You've got mail, that
is not your favorite? Stop it? You just on im d.
Speaker 4 (25:55):
I said that earlier book Perdition.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
No you said Paradition. Yeah, well you know, but you
know what I meant though, right, it wasn't all right?
And let's talk about the Essence Festival. Y'all know I'd
be an Essence fest every year.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
Killing it.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
Yeah. Last year I actually hosted the live stream for Hulu.
Is the first time they ever live streamed it.
Speaker 3 (26:15):
Angela, you did a really good job. I mean texted
you afterwards.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
The stressful time. The first night was a little shaky.
It was the first time, but after that it's moved out.
Everybody ironed out all the glitches, so that was great.
But this year they have announced the headliners. It's June
twenty nine to July third, and Miss Lauren hill Oh
and Meghan the Stallion are headlining this year's festivities. Yes,
(26:40):
also whiz Kid, Monica, Coco Jones, Kids Daniel. There will
also be a special performance curation by Dougie Fresh. They
did that with their roots last year, okay, and that's
going to feature also DJ Spinderella, djk Capri and DJ
Clark Kent. During the festivities. There also be a performance
from Jermaine Duprie and friends. And that's for the thirtieth
and three of So So Death.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
That's gonna be nice.
Speaker 4 (27:02):
Nice.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
Yeah, are you gonna go to Essence?
Speaker 4 (27:05):
I would like to go.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
You would love it.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
I should go.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
When I tell you you have a time out there,
I will. Yeah, we should do the show live from there.
The last night I went to a club with Ghost
facing Ray Kwan and Naves was performing. Remember that. We
had a good time and the city girls shout out
to Larry Morrow. Right, all right, well that is your
yee t And when we come back, it's under the radar.
(27:28):
Those the stories that are not necessarily headline news. They're
flying under the radar. But we want to let you
know it's way up with Angela yeeh news.
Speaker 7 (27:35):
This in the news that relates to you. These stories
are flying under the radar.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
Yes, it is way up aer Angela yee. I am
Angela yee. Jasmine from the Jasmine brand is here. Happy
hump Day, Happy Hemp Day. Mayno is here.
Speaker 4 (27:48):
I'm still here, baby.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
Yes, is an excellent by the way, he's an excellent
co host. He gets here early, comes, great attitude, that's right.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
Work, and he has some great stories that we can
never talk about on the shelf.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
And he's literally life.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
Okay, No, I have no words to even describe them.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
And by the way, it comes in here. While I
have on my sweats, he comes in here addressed to
the nines.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
He's always dressed shades on today.
Speaker 2 (28:17):
I've seen him wear the same thing twice.
Speaker 4 (28:18):
No, you got it. Gotta be camera ready.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
Okay, you gotta be camera Well, let's do these under
the radar stories. So Apple has launched its pay later service.
They lost us yesterday, So users can now split their
purchases into four payments spread over the course of six weeks,
so you can manage, track and repay your loans and
your Apple Wallet, according to a company release that was
put out yesterday, and you can apply for Apple paid
(28:41):
Later loans between fifty dollars and one thousand dollars and
use them for n app and online purchases made through
merchants that except Apple pay. So it's like layaway.
Speaker 3 (28:49):
Is there there's no interest on this?
Speaker 4 (28:51):
Of course it is.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
What's okay? What's the end? I don't see them. I
see it on the story. I don't see the interest.
Speaker 4 (28:56):
I want to things in the fine print.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
Did you just make that up?
Speaker 4 (29:00):
I'm telling you he did.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
He made it up. But I'm sure I don't see
the interest on here.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
So yeah, I don't see anything about it. I feel
like there's other apps that do that for you where
you and like when you go shopping online you can
split your payments up.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
I like that. Does Layoway typically have no interest no
layway plans? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (29:20):
Okay now, but usually on Layway you can't get your
product until you finish paying for us, right, yeah, So
it's just like a payment It is a payment plan.
Speaker 4 (29:26):
I don't know if it was if it was one
hundred dollars, it was probably one hundred and twenty by
the time you. I don't like that.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
Yeah, yeah, so you buy it now and then you
pay later. So you know what probably is it? It's
no interest in no fees.
Speaker 4 (29:39):
Oh that's what I like that.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
No fee.
Speaker 3 (29:43):
You don't need.
Speaker 4 (29:44):
I'm signing up.
Speaker 3 (29:44):
You don't need. No Apple payment plan.
Speaker 4 (29:47):
You never know that sweater you got on the blue
on speakers, you gotta on the.
Speaker 2 (29:51):
Sweater them shades. Split that up in the fourth it's
still a lot of jacket.
Speaker 4 (29:57):
Belt. You know what.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
I'm gonna tell you where the problem I come in.
If you miss a payment.
Speaker 4 (30:02):
It's like those blue checks. If you miss your payment
on your blue checks, when you get a repoll.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
Yeah, that's where the problem might come in. If you
miss I would think one of those, then that's going
to be an issue. All right. Now, Adidas, they had
initially filed a request for the Black Lives Matter Movement
to stop using the three stripes. I guess they are
the only ones that use the three stripes. Now, I
was like, let me go look at this Black Lives
(30:28):
Matter logo and see if this looks like it could
be mistaken for Adidas.
Speaker 3 (30:33):
Can you describe Angela to the listeners?
Speaker 2 (30:35):
So hopefully y'all all know what the Adidas you know,
three stripes. It's like, but black Lives Matter just as
a Black Lives Matter and then there's three long great
under it. Yeah yeah, under it. So I don't see
how that would have been an issue. But now they're
backtracking on that opposition, right because at first they said
it would create confusion. Now they have with the drawn
that request to US authorities to block the Black Lives
(30:58):
Matter Movement from trademarking or design with the three parallel stripes.
Speaker 4 (31:01):
That was ridiculous anyway, there's nothing alike.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
Yeah, they didn't offer an explanation for why they withdrew it,
but I'm sure they got a lot of backlash, like,
look a dude, is y'all have some issues already? Yes,
calm down, everybody, all right. So that is your stories
that are under the radar. And it is Wealth Wednesday,
not just hump Day. I know you love screaming out
hump Day, jazzmin I do, but it's also Wealth Wednesday.
All right, let's not forget that. And so my girl
(31:26):
Stacy Tisdale, you know, she's my partner. I've been doing
Wealth Wednesday for like six years.
Speaker 4 (31:29):
That's nice.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
And so now I have it for you guys on
the air, and we have a great segment for you
guys today, and this is some credit counseling one on one.
You know, this month we're all focused on credit. It's
National Credit Education Month and so today we have the
vice president for the National Foundation for Credit Counseling, that's
the NFCC. Right, this is all something that you guys
(31:52):
can get all kinds of free resources and information. Barry
Coleman is going to be joining us, and we have
got questions from you guys that you want answers to
when it comes to credits.
Speaker 3 (32:02):
I'm looking forward to this conversation.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
Yeah, and so these are questions that people ask that
Barry Coleman is actually kind enough to sit and answer
for y'all. Again, he's the vice president of the National
Foundation for Credit Counseling. And we also have the Way
Up Mix at the top of the hour. And yeah,
it's both Wednesday, Way Up with Angela. Yee.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
Oh, she's about to blow the lid abof this, but
just get it.
Speaker 7 (32:21):
Oh, Angela's feeling that ye tea, Come and get the tea.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
Yes, it is way up with Angela. Yee. I'm here.
Jasmine from the Jasmine brand is here.
Speaker 4 (32:31):
No Mano, new Mano.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
I'm here, Babby Mano's in the building. Oh, play that
one more time, Jazz.
Speaker 3 (32:37):
Not just any brand. I'm my own brand.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
That's really Jasmine rapping. And every time you play that job,
she bops.
Speaker 3 (32:44):
I definitely definitely thanks Angela.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
All right, we gotta post that actual video. All right.
So Brittany Taylor, you know her from Love and Hip Hop.
She has been arrested in charge with assault after allegedly
hitting her children's father with a baseball bat right. According
to sources, he got into a physical altercation with him earlier.
This month. They have a two year old and an
eight month altogether. She did turn herself in last week
(33:06):
after a warrant had been issued for her arrest, but
now she is giving an explanation on what's been going
on in her relationship that people may not have known
behind the scenes.
Speaker 14 (33:15):
I'm gonna win this case and coming in head girl,
did you beat that man? Yes, I retaliated from him
beating me and knocking my eighty two year old grandmother
to the floor. I picked up a toy and I
hit him upside of his mother's head because he.
Speaker 4 (33:32):
Has abused me.
Speaker 14 (33:34):
To the court, enough is enough. I take that. I
turned myself in. I take my charges.
Speaker 2 (33:40):
Him playing the victim is insane. Wow, that is so
sad to hear. They do have two children together. She's
been charged with two counts of assault, one count of
endangering the welfare of a child, and one count of
criminal possession of a weapon. And by the way, she
posted pictures of herself with one of them. She said,
SMA to my abuses, handprint bruised in my face and
(34:04):
you know, she said, speaking of DV, this Nigerian man
has been beating on me for years. He feels like
women should obey their man, and if they talk back,
they deserve to be hit. He's abusing me mentally and physically.
He's beat me in front of my child more than twice.
Here is a video from one time I caught him
on camera in the background admitting to giving me a
black eye. He is now trying to play victim and
grab a little cloud along the way. It's very sad
(34:25):
he's going the extra mile to try damaging me, as
if he hasn't damaged me enough. He's a deadbeat. Sadly
because my daughter loves the hell out of him. I
just want to be left alone.
Speaker 4 (34:34):
Well, I just I mean, this is not funny, right,
but I just have one question, like, yeah, what kind
of toy was said? A bat?
Speaker 2 (34:43):
Yeah it must have been toy bat and a toy
bat then but yeah, yeah, not you pushing my granny allegedly. Yeah,
but you can't can't get And I will say this
a lot of times, you know, for women, like we
never want to call the cops or things keep on happening,
and then now tables have turned on her. But sometimes
it is really important if you are being abused. And
(35:04):
the pictures that she posted looks really bad. And you
know this is all alleged right now, so I don't
want to legally say anything, but if something is really
that bad, and if somebody is putting their hands on you,
you don't have to feel obligated to protect the person
with the charge at all. You don't have to feel
obligated to protect somebody who doesn't feel obligated to protect you.
Speaker 4 (35:25):
Yep. I mean, if she could have beat them with
a Bobbie dollhouse, maybe may know, may know?
Speaker 2 (35:31):
All right, now, Curb your enthusiasm might end with the
season twelve. And this is looking like it is going
to end because people who work on the show, even
we're posting about it now. One person who is a producer,
John Haymen, said, maybe you love the show, maybe you
hate the show. Maybe you don't give a ish in
any event, shooting the last scene of the last episode
of the final season, all right, and this's my show.
(35:52):
Director and executive producer are also hinted at the show's end.
Yesterday first day March nineteen ninety eight, last day March
twenty seventh, twenty twenty three. Five years have flown by,
Thank you, Larry David. But then they deleted them.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
Angela, do you have a favorite episode?
Speaker 2 (36:05):
Oh yeah, crazy as Killer. Oh yeah, your enthusiast is
crazy Killer.
Speaker 4 (36:11):
He was a wrap all right?
Speaker 2 (36:12):
Yes, yeah, yeah, when I tell you that's probably if
you've never watched Curb Your Enthusiasm, that's I said. But
that show is hilarious.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
Watch it on the plane a lot.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
Yes, And there are certain things I feel like they
did on that show that I don't know if they
could get away with this edgy.
Speaker 4 (36:30):
Yes, it is.
Speaker 2 (36:31):
It's kind of like The Office, like those two shows
I really enjoy.
Speaker 4 (36:34):
But I love the way a shot though, because Larry
David is actually playing himself like he's just he's just
so augumentative, like and.
Speaker 2 (36:41):
He just does things and you're like, do not have
the switch to tell? And JB Smooth when they added
him to the show, I mean, next level. So shout
out to Curb Your Enthusiasm. I do love that show
all right. Now. Four two, Doug has given an update
from behind bars. He's behind bars after please pleading guilty
to prison evasion, and he's released a statement. A lot
(37:03):
of these emirors gotta get out of jail, get out
of jail free cards, I guess because I'm turned. I
gotta go through the worst death before dishonor freedom boys free.
All right. You know he had agreed to attend a
thirty day in patient drug treatment program after his release,
followed by a thirty day outpatient program. But now it
looks like, yeah, he's been hit with up to five
(37:26):
years behind me.
Speaker 4 (37:27):
Give him another chance. Let him get back out here, man,
get to his issue.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
All right. All right, that is your yet. Thank you man,
oh thank you. Jasmine from the Jasmine brand, and it
is Women's History Month. We only got a couple of
days left at this, but we're gonna keep this going
and when we come back, we'll be talking about some
iconic women who have done things that impact all of
our lives. It's way up with the angela.
Speaker 7 (37:48):
Ye celebrating Women's History Month.
Speaker 1 (37:54):
On Way Up with angela Ye.
Speaker 2 (37:55):
Follow Pat McGrath on social media. And by the way,
she's a black woman billionaire from makeup from cosmetics. All right,
you follow her, you'll see all different kinds of makeup
applications that you can do. And when I tell you,
colors are so vibrant. Her makeup is my go to.
Speaker 4 (38:10):
All right.
Speaker 2 (38:10):
There's certain brands I use I love that. I love
the lip bar.
Speaker 3 (38:13):
What's your favorite product from her?
Speaker 2 (38:15):
It's her eyeshadows, okay, and her lip glasses. I love
her lip glasses too, I use them. I haven't with
me now, apparently it's a big deal.
Speaker 3 (38:22):
She is the first makeup artist to be made a
Dame Commander of the British I just said that.
Speaker 4 (38:26):
Oh I'm sorry. Oh wow, somebody wasn't paying attention.
Speaker 2 (38:31):
You get an f today.
Speaker 3 (38:32):
Oh my god, here you said that.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
Yes, oh gosh, I'm sorry, Angela. But you're right. It
is a big it's such a big deal. We said
it twice, all right. There is Pat McGrath on Vogue.
Speaker 1 (38:44):
From about six.
Speaker 17 (38:45):
I was experimenting with makeup. I'd make mix oil and water,
put it in the fridge and hope to make my
own face creams or stealing my mother's makeup from her
dressing table and getting into a lot of trouble. I'd
left Northampton, you know, went to London and hung out
at lots of clubs.
Speaker 4 (39:02):
I remember walking somewhere and I had.
Speaker 17 (39:04):
Lots of makeup on that I had loads of blush
on my eyes, my cheeks and really strong mouth. And
someone said to me, Oh, could you do my makeup
like that?
Speaker 2 (39:12):
Is that job?
Speaker 1 (39:13):
She said, yes, it's a job.
Speaker 17 (39:15):
I really in a way, really I fell into it.
Speaker 3 (39:18):
I've never heard our voice before.
Speaker 2 (39:19):
Yeah, she's also Jamaican. Oh nice, Just bet I point
that out though, So shout out to Pat McGrath and
make sure y'all all just take a look at her
page and be inspired. All right. Also, we also want
to honor del Mar Johnson and Shana Atkins, two African
American women. They're the founders of expand hr. It's the
first ever black women own use a friendly human resources platform.
(39:41):
So together they have put together their professional experiences as
business owners and they are changing how entrepreneurs hire their
next employees, but also staying compliant in their businesses. All right,
So I think that's amazing. It's an app entrepreneurs can
expedite the onboarding process for the new employees and contractors. Also,
it gives opportunities for human resources consulting as well as
(40:03):
a budget friendly payroll management system. And that's important if
you own a small business, you know, taking care of payroll,
onboarding employees, those things can be really overwhelming, especially with
the turnover rate that we've been having since the pandemic.
That's a fact expanding and it's like I've been having
some issues. That is a fact. No, it's definitely true.
And so I just want to shout out to Delmar
(40:24):
Johnson and Shane Atkins. They said a lot of small
businesses feel overwhelmed, don't know where to start, feel stuck
on how to hire new people, or are not clear
on what the next move is in the phase or
stage of your business. Expand HR allows businesses to become
structured to take their business to the next level. And
there's so many things that you have to worry about
as a business owner. Anything that can help you. And
(40:44):
I realize that with a lot of these tech companies
when it comes to like they're doing right now with payroll,
with onboarding, there's places that help you with scheduling. So
make sure that everybody you know gets everything the way
that they're supposed to. Those things are so important in
helping to make your life a little easier.
Speaker 3 (41:00):
Payroll is a little bit of a headache. I'm not
gonna lie.
Speaker 2 (41:02):
I'm not gonna lie, Okay, all right, So that is
for Women's History Month. Anybody you want to honor Mano
real quick, and.
Speaker 4 (41:10):
I want to I want to honor Jasmine. Okay, you know,
I just I just like the way she just holds
it down.
Speaker 5 (41:18):
You know.
Speaker 3 (41:18):
I don't know what's going on right now.
Speaker 4 (41:20):
Yeah, I feel like, but you know what you know?
And the thing is, because I'm honoring you, I'm gonna.
Speaker 3 (41:25):
Get you a man child Maine.
Speaker 4 (41:28):
I appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (41:29):
That feels like a problem.
Speaker 4 (41:31):
Coming to Chelsea House next week and we're gonna line
all my gods. I don't want a headache though. I
don't want a headache a little bit.
Speaker 2 (41:36):
It's gonna be like Chelsea House Bachelorette episode.
Speaker 3 (41:40):
Give me somebody medium a medium headache.
Speaker 2 (41:43):
Okay, Well, thank you for that Women's History Month. Now,
when we come back, you know, it's also Wealth Wednesday,
and Barry Coleman is going to be joining us. He's
the vice president for the National Foundation for Credit Counseling
and so shout out to him. It's also National Credit
Education Month here, so we want to make sure that
everybody gets together with their credit. We all got good
(42:03):
credit in here, yes, yes, we do, all right, we
love it. It's way up at Angela, ye.
Speaker 1 (42:10):
You rid way up with Angela.
Speaker 2 (42:12):
Yes, it is way up at Angela Yee, I'm Angela Yee.
Jasmine from the Jasmine brand is here.
Speaker 3 (42:19):
Happy Thursday, Happy Hodayday, Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (42:22):
Sorry Wednesday, Yes, happy wealth Wednesday.
Speaker 3 (42:25):
Happy here, Yes.
Speaker 4 (42:29):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (42:29):
I love when you do your mainnovation renovation.
Speaker 4 (42:31):
Gotta give them some inspiration out there, they.
Speaker 2 (42:33):
Need it on Instagram. And I want to talk about
your mainnovations a little bit and how you came up
with that whole idea.
Speaker 4 (42:39):
Shout out to my god Jamail Night he uh he
named it that I would I would be in my
car now, I would just start talking about random things
that that helped me. Right. You know, this past week
I talked about you know, not being not being comfortable
and getting comfortable, being uncomfortable in order to get to
another level, you know, you out of sometimes lose your comfortability.
(43:02):
You got to step into rooms the where they don't
all know your name. You gotta step into rooms that
they don't know you for what you did, and you
gotta you gotta learn how to you know, adapt to
not being as comfortable, because that's how you get to
another level.
Speaker 2 (43:16):
Right, you know, take a risk, that's right, yeah, take
that's like yeah, because you're trying to make me take
a risk.
Speaker 3 (43:23):
Angel's making me take You're not making me.
Speaker 4 (43:24):
But you know no, but you should do that because
it's it's uncomfortableness. But that's the only way we get it. Yep.
Speaker 2 (43:31):
Okay, that's a great menovation.
Speaker 4 (43:33):
You know.
Speaker 2 (43:34):
They say with growth, you have to be uncomfortable. Guess right,
you're growing out of what you're in. So sometimes when
you get too comfortable, and I always say this too,
when you get complacent uncomfortable, that's not a good thing.
Speaker 4 (43:46):
That's not a great thing because that's because you just
only existing where you where you feel like, uh, that's
that's where your comfortability lies at.
Speaker 2 (43:54):
Even for me studying this show, that's going to be
very uncomfortable. Look, I'm left serious to come to iHeart.
People like, why would you do that? You're doing so
you know I'm comfortable. You know. Then I did the
Breakfast Club for thirteen years. I was comfortable and everything
was fine, but I was like, let me try something new.
Right here we are on way up with the Anteye,
and people were like, oh my god, why would you
(44:14):
do that?
Speaker 4 (44:15):
Blah blah blah.
Speaker 2 (44:15):
People still say that that's.
Speaker 3 (44:17):
One of the reasons why your girl Dominique what fishback.
She said that shee she chose the the world was
swarm because she wanted to do something that was going
to challenge her.
Speaker 4 (44:25):
Right, right, You got to challenge yourself because it takes
guts and it takes courage to do something that you're
not used to doing, right the.
Speaker 2 (44:33):
Biggest yes, all right, well, thank you for that main ovation, Mayo.
And it is also Wealth Wednesday, right, and we're talking
about finances and sometimes you have to be uncomfortable doing things.
We're so used to saving our money, putting it away,
getting ready for a rainy day, and sometimes living check
to check, sometimes feeling like, well, I don't have money
to invest because I'm still trying to take care of this.
(44:55):
But you have to get out of that mindset and
fix your credit too. By the way, it is also
National Credit Education Month, and we have Barry Coleman here
joining us. He's the vice president for the National Foundation
for Credit Counseling, the NFCC, and he'll be talking to
us when we come back on Wealth Wednesday.
Speaker 4 (45:11):
Kind of dream of wealthy and I don't mind sharing.
Speaker 7 (45:14):
My wealth dogs Getting you straight financially, mentally and physically.
This is Wealth Wednesday on Way Up with Angelaee, just.
Speaker 2 (45:22):
Talk about the importance of credit in a person's life.
Sometimes people feel like debt is not a good thing
and if I can't pay for it with cash, I
shouldn't do it at all.
Speaker 5 (45:30):
You know, credit is an instrument that can help consumers
in their daily lives. We don't believe that should be
utilized in every situation, but obviously there are situations where
credit can be important and it can be an end
to a means. You know, most people can't pay for
a home in cash or loans.
Speaker 4 (45:52):
Both people can. Mortgage loans are important.
Speaker 5 (45:56):
You know, cars can be very expensive, and so that's
another area where you know, credit is important because it
helps someone to obtain that vehicle and such. Credit card
debt oftentimes is where we see individuals run in to trouble.
You know, it's very easy to you know, reach into
your whilet, pull out a credit card and pay for
(46:18):
a purchase with that credit card.
Speaker 1 (46:22):
And what we.
Speaker 5 (46:23):
Find is over time, as the interest and crew accruise,
it becomes sometimes more difficult for people to repay for
those particular purchases. So individuals that consider using credit cards
should think about the cost over the term of that
particular purchase. You know, if you're buying something that's one
thousand dollars and you pay for it with a credit
(46:45):
card and you make the minimum payments, well you're paying
a lot more than one thousand dollars for that particular item.
So they really need to step back and think about, Okay,
is this really worth this thousand, twelve hundred and fifteen
hundred dollar that this item may eventually cost me because
I put it on a credit card.
Speaker 16 (47:05):
We know, for people, particularly in our community, they're sometimes
using credit cards just to make ends meet. I think
according to the Federal Reserve, more than half of Black
and Hispanic Americans have poor or no credit, and when
it comes to consumer credit like credit cards, that makes
up over forty four percent of all debt for black consumers.
(47:25):
So where does the person who's sitting on five figures
in credit card debt but they're only earning fifty sixty
thousand dollars a year, where do they begin?
Speaker 5 (47:34):
I think they begin by developing a plan, and certainly,
you know, speaking to a nonprofit credit counselor could be
a good place to start. As Angela mentioned, you know,
our agencies provide credit counseling sessions, typically free of charge,
and we sit down with consumers to help them to
develop a plan of action to address their financial situation
(47:58):
and come away with education that will help them to
spend more wise than to use credit more wise.
Speaker 2 (48:05):
All right, again, it is National Credit Education Month, and
Barry Coleman, the vice president for the National Foundation for
Credit Counseling, is here. Can we talk about these higher
interest rates too? Since we're talking about getting our debt
under control. We've been hearing a lot about that with
what's happened with Silicon Valley Bank, Signature Bank. And how
does these higher interest rates affect the average person?
Speaker 5 (48:25):
Yeah, they certainly have an impact on the average person,
especially if someone has credit card debt in their carrying
balances every month. So, just to put this into context,
the average interest rates on credit card debt have soored
to nearly twenty percent from just over sixteen percent at
the beginning of last year.
Speaker 4 (48:46):
And that's the largest one year increase.
Speaker 2 (48:49):
That's a lot four.
Speaker 4 (48:50):
Decades since those rates have been tracked.
Speaker 5 (48:54):
Now, this partially influenced by the Federal reserves increasing interest
rate over the past year or so, and that was
designed to help put inflation into check. We all are
familiar with rise costs of everyday things, and so the
Federal Reserve has one strategy when it comes to reducing inflation,
and that's increasing interest rates to sort of slow down
(49:17):
spend it.
Speaker 16 (49:18):
In addition to that, all of the you know, scrutiny
banks are coming under now right now because of Silicon Valley.
They're going to be tougher on people when it comes
to giving out loans and credit. And that's one of
the reasons we wanted to talk to you today because
it's really more important now than it has been in.
Speaker 4 (49:35):
A while that you have your credit situation street.
Speaker 5 (49:38):
Yes, yes, that is certainly causing credit issuers to you know,
look at their operations, look at their lending criterias, and
to determine whether or not they are open to adverse risk.
Speaker 4 (49:55):
And that's why it's.
Speaker 5 (49:56):
To your point, utterly important that consumer make sure that
their credit profiles are appealing to lenders.
Speaker 16 (50:05):
Tell our audience how important on time bill payment is
to their overall credit.
Speaker 5 (50:10):
Yeah, so, on time bill payment is the number one
factor that is used to determine one's credit score. It
amounts for thirty five percent of the overall credit score.
Speaker 2 (50:23):
And I won't lie. I was just showing Stacy my
credit score, and my credit score just jumped incredibly just
because one of my old like I didn't pay a
bill on time and it was like five years ago
and it was just really a few days late, but
it really affected my credit score. So now my credit
scored jumped up over thirty points.
Speaker 16 (50:41):
That's the kind of stuff you help people do, right
when someone comes for these one on one credit counseling sessions.
Speaker 5 (50:46):
Yeah, that's one of the things that we help, you
know by first of all, providing that education so folks
know what impacts the credit score, and you know, stressing
the on time payments. And there are some situations where
individuals will come to us and they're burden with credit
card debt and they're having problems making those minimum monthly payments,
(51:08):
and we have a tool called a debt management plan,
which is a structured repayment plan where the consumer would
make one monthly payment to us and then we would
disperse those payments to the creditors. Those creditors have offered
reduced monthly payments and interest rates to make the repayment
(51:29):
more affordable. But what happens when that consumer makes their
payment through US. We send those payments to the creditors
on a monthly basis.
Speaker 4 (51:38):
They're establishing that on.
Speaker 5 (51:40):
Time, you know, payment history, and over time, that's going
to help greatly in improving that overall credit score.
Speaker 16 (51:49):
And checking doing things like helping people check for errors
on their credit reports.
Speaker 2 (51:54):
Get your credit report and know your credit score and
all of those things.
Speaker 5 (51:58):
Yeah, so you know, consumers have available the opportunity to
get one free credit report from each of the three
major credit reporting agents, Experience, TransUnion, and Equifax on an
annual basis, so that they can review that credit report,
you know, look for eras, dispute things that are incorrect. Now,
(52:21):
I will say, the annual credit report that's free does
not include the credit score. So oftentimes those credit viewers
will offer the credit score as an add on to
that free credit report, but it's usually a nominal fee.
And the important thing to note though, is that the
credit score is created from whatever appears on that credit report,
(52:44):
So it's important that that credit report is accurate. It's
important that consumers work to improve anything that may be
detrimental on that credit report, because that's going to have
a direct correlation to the credit score.
Speaker 2 (52:58):
All right, we are taking your questions. It is National
Credit Education myth. Let us know what you want to
know about fixing your credit credit counseling. We have Barry
Coleman from the NFCC National Foundation for Credit Counseling in
the building. It is Wealth Wednesday on way up with
Angela Yee.
Speaker 4 (53:13):
Kind a dream of wealthy and I don't mind sharing
my wealth dogs getting you straight financially, mentally and physically.
Speaker 7 (53:20):
This is Wealth Wednesday on way up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 2 (53:23):
What's up? It's way up with Angela Yee. It's Wealth Wednesday.
Y'all know. I love talking about Monday and getting to
that money. And we have Barry Coleman, the vice president
for the National Foundation for Credit Counseling, here with us
for Wealth Wednesday, alongside my girl Stacy Tisdale. We do
have some questions, yes, from our listeners, that we want
to make sure we get to because I know, first
of all, thank you mister Coleman for joining us today.
(53:45):
But our listeners are really excited. They have some great questions.
Speaker 16 (53:48):
Yep, okay, And just before we jump into that, I
wanted to say that with this partnership. When you sign
up for get stellar five dot com before you even
pick a plan, you get a credit. We give you
a free credit report, and you get a free one
on one credit counseling session. That was very important to
Angela and Night. So you can go to get stellarfi
(54:08):
dot com to sign up for that, and until Friday
at midnight.
Speaker 2 (54:12):
If you use the code way.
Speaker 16 (54:14):
Up, you will get a five dollars credit for signing
up for one of the plans after you link the
first bill. So this is just till Friday at midnight,
and you can go to get stellarfi dot com.
Speaker 2 (54:25):
Free one on one castling session with the NFCC, and
your credit score will go way up.
Speaker 16 (54:29):
Yeah, and that's one of the reasons that we really
wanted to partner with you all. Our first question is
from John Brown, and he wants to know how badly
does being one day late on a credit card payment
affect my credit score.
Speaker 5 (54:44):
It could adversely affect the credit score, typically one day,
one day, one day, it could. It all depends on
the credit issuer and how they report that late payment
to the credit bureau. Some of them will give you
a little little lee way and if you know if
you if you're more than thirty days late, then that's
(55:04):
when they start reporting. But one day late could actually
theoretically affect someone's credit score.
Speaker 2 (55:11):
And a negative if they want to be a jerk,
and then they should call you like they'll call you
like a thousand times. I'm not gonna lie. I'm still
bitter about this one because I like mine was like
a week late. I really just forgot and I don't know,
like I don't think you can. Yeah, I just forgot.
I think I didn't get the email because I do
everything online and I didn't get the email, and then
it was on my credit score for so long.
Speaker 5 (55:32):
Those negative actions on a credit report can stay on
the credit report for up to seven years. Now, they
impact the score lesser over time, So if you had
a late payment reported, say last month, and another late
payment that was reported, say two years ago, the one
that occurred last month will have more of a negative
(55:53):
impact than the one that happened two years ago. So
over time it factors in in less.
Speaker 16 (55:59):
See, if you would have had a free one on
one credits session, they would have done.
Speaker 2 (56:03):
That for you, and I didn't know because I wasn't
even checking my credit report which is why I'm glad
I do now. I make sure I check it every
single month just to see what's on checking it. I'm
not kidding, I did.
Speaker 5 (56:13):
It's very important to do. I mean, think about all
of the situations of fraud that occurred so many nowadays.
I mean, it's happened to me, and you know the
fact that I was able to catch it early and
I was able to actually do something about it.
Speaker 2 (56:27):
See, it could happen to him, Yes, the NFCC, it
could happen to you also. Okay, you got some more questions.
All right, here's another question from Carly. How do you
build credit with no credit history?
Speaker 5 (56:39):
Yeah, you have to establish credit history over over time,
and you know that may be finding a credit issuer
that's willing to, you know, give you credit sometimes. You know,
store credit cards are somewhat easy easier to get. There
are secured credit cards where you put a deposit down
with the bank and they issue you a credit card
(57:01):
based on the amount of your deposit and as you
make your payments, that's how you build your credit history.
So there are ways to do it. And certainly, you
know you mentioned the stellar Fi product. The Stellifi product
will look at some of the less traditional types of
bills and report those to the credit bureau.
Speaker 4 (57:23):
So that's another way that you can net.
Speaker 2 (57:26):
Flix child support, gym membership.
Speaker 16 (57:29):
Yeah, the point of Stellar Fi was it seemed like
a paradox that you had to have credit to build credit.
The founder you wanted to find a way that people
could get credit by using bills they already have. So
everybody really checked that out at get stellarfi dot com.
Speaker 2 (57:44):
And oh you know what along with that one establishing credit,
what if like say I have a credit card and
I add somebody to my credit card, will they then
get my credit history.
Speaker 5 (57:54):
If you add someone to a credit account as an
authorized user, they could gain the benefits of your positive
credit history.
Speaker 4 (58:03):
So yeah, that can help. Okay, watch that with your
boyfriends and your girls.
Speaker 5 (58:07):
Yes, be cautious about that, but.
Speaker 2 (58:10):
That's good for parents, I think with their kids too,
Like if you want to help your your child improve
their credit score, and you trust them and you have
a plan, then that could be something that really does work.
Absolutely all right, Well, thank you again Barry Coleman for
joining us the National Foundation for Credit Counseling. He is
the vice president. Hopefully we answered all your questions. If
(58:31):
you have more, you can always go and get them.
Get some free help and shout out to my girl
Stacy Tisdale. She always comes through for wealth Wednesday when
we come back, we have asked yee. That's eight hundred
two ninety two fifty one fifty any question you have,
we are here to help. It's way up with Angela.
Speaker 4 (58:45):
Yee.
Speaker 7 (58:45):
Are good everybody since whether it's relationship with career advice,
Angela's dropping facts, you should know this is as gee.
Speaker 2 (58:54):
Yes, it is way up with Angela. Yee. I'm here
and Jasmine from the Jasmine brand is here. Yes, hood up, Okay,
we see you.
Speaker 4 (59:03):
Here.
Speaker 2 (59:05):
You know he's here and it's time for ask ye
And I think all three of us are good at
giving advice, right, Yeah, I don't. Ye is different, but
it's from a good point of view Angela.
Speaker 3 (59:15):
Angela's advice is really good. Menos has good advice from
a man's perspective. I don't always agree with it.
Speaker 4 (59:20):
You don't.
Speaker 2 (59:21):
Maya is like a harsh advice.
Speaker 4 (59:22):
You could have fooled me up, but you was taking
all mind.
Speaker 3 (59:25):
You should hear some of the things men said to me.
It's very he's very and aggressive.
Speaker 2 (59:29):
He's like, okay, so again you can always call it
eight hundred two nine fifty one fifty. We even take
ask ye on the voicemail and we listen to all
your voicemail. We don't dan do this, but somebody listens
to them and then they'll make it on the air
for last words or perhaps you know it can make
it on ask ye, and we have one today for
ask Yee.
Speaker 13 (59:50):
I do have an X that I have been dealing with.
Speaker 12 (59:53):
And crazy thing is he's.
Speaker 11 (59:56):
Been coming back to me, but the girl that he's
been dealing with, she keeps confronting me and not confronting him,
and she's calling.
Speaker 15 (01:00:04):
Me all types of words and all this stuff like that,
but she's not confronting him. And my dad something wrong,
Like I mean, sometimes I entertain him coming back to me,
but sometimes I don't.
Speaker 13 (01:00:18):
Because one time I did entertain him coming back to.
Speaker 15 (01:00:21):
Me, and I got my opportunity for.
Speaker 13 (01:00:24):
A new job snatched away from me, so I had
to cut him loose. So should I keep him around
or what?
Speaker 3 (01:00:32):
It's a hard nob.
Speaker 2 (01:00:37):
Yeah, yes, now let's hear.
Speaker 4 (01:00:38):
My advice is that she called all the girl and
say to us plainly Listen, I'm gonna keep dealing with him.
You're gonna probably keep dealing with them. Let's just deal
with them together.
Speaker 2 (01:00:48):
This is the kind of advice I don't take. Now,
you want to hear my advice.
Speaker 3 (01:00:51):
Made of Angela? What's her advice?
Speaker 2 (01:00:53):
My advice is is why make your life more complicated
than it has to be? The only person that's benefiting
in this situation for real? Is him right? He's got
this one girl going crazy. He clearly loves drama.
Speaker 3 (01:01:04):
He does.
Speaker 2 (01:01:04):
If he cared about you, he would even put you
in that position. You lost a job opportunity because of
this person here. Don't care about you, don't care about
your well being. He got this girl come over to fight.
You know how disrespectful that is. And you're on the
side piece. How did you end up being a side
piece of somebody you was dealing with before that? That's
already enough right there for you to be like, I'm
(01:01:25):
not doing this. So instead of wondering why she mad
at me and not mad at him, how about you
just kindly remove yourself from the drama. That way, no
one's showing up to your house, no one's trying to
fight you, No one's forcing you to lose a job
and you don't have to worry about STDs.
Speaker 15 (01:01:40):
Love.
