Okay, I am so happy for you that your two
children are doing so well, that, you know, buying a house.
That's what you engaged the beast to get married. You

inaugural essence. Sexiest Men of the Moment list will tell
you who is on the cover for that issue, their
first ever Sexiest Man.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
Of the Moments looking like a snack. Oh you like him.
We'll discuss it when we come back as well.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
They say in the rooms from Industry Shade to all
of gossip out angelas speeling that.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
What's up this way up with Angela Yee. I'm Angela
Yee and my girl Tella is here. Damnson Injurius is
on the cover of essences Sexiest Men of the Moment issue.
So this is kind of a response to people's Sexiest
Man Alive the way that they do their thing. So
now Essence has this and this is the first time
they've done this, So Dampson is the first one. The

(04:58):
foundation of a man. He's six foot one with deep
auburn skin and a four K pearly smile that glistens
like ultraviolet rays off charcoal minds in the deepest sands
off the coast of Nigeria. Yes, that's what they wrote
about him on Instagram. But he has been doing amazing things.
Franklin on Snowfall, of course, and when asked why he

(05:20):
believes he made the Sexiest Men of the Moment less,
he said, I have no idea, but I'm beautiful.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
I didn't mean that.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
All right, So he talked about a lot of different things,
and he also said a Roba Denario quote kept him
humble through all of his success. He said, just be
calm when things are going well. Don't think you are
on top of the world. And so congratulations to him
for being on the cover of The Essence first ever
Sexiest Men of.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
The Moment issue. Yes, all right, now let's take it
to Chicago.

Speaker 9 (05:50):
Let's go.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
Little Dirk is gonna host Smirchella next year and that's
gonna be at the Bear Stadium in Chicago. He said,
it's going to be a stop the Violence event and
we're gonna split half the money with different nonprofits from
big to small.

Speaker 6 (06:03):
That's right, you'll be there. I feel like he should
split half the profits with me since.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
My name is involved, dirt smirk Cella.

Speaker 4 (06:11):
Yeah, okay, Tella, maybe you need to holler that them
that damn let it make some money and then be
like you're using my name exactly.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
That's kee shout out to Dirk though. Yeah, I like that.

Speaker 4 (06:21):
I like that he wants to do something for a
stop the violence too, because you know, Chicago has that reputation.
But you're always telling me I hate that people think
this about Chicago, but then something happens.

Speaker 5 (06:32):
I mean, it's rough, but it's beautiful.

Speaker 6 (06:33):
I also would love to see Dirk doing something at
the center that's being built across the street from Oblot. Okay,
so I would love to see that as well. I
can see that all right.

Speaker 4 (06:43):
Now, Gunna is not gonna have to take the stand
in the Young Thug and Yasel Rico trial. You know,
they had like seven hundred people, over seven hundred witnesses,
and so the judge ordered to stay to cut down
that list to the ones that they currently intend to call.
So they have a new list of about two hundred
witnesses and that includes multiple code defendants who took please

(07:05):
as witnesses. But Gunna is not on that list, and
so that's good news for Gunna. Yeah, I'm sure he
would hate to have been named on that list, right,
you know, so everybody that's been playing the music and
going to the conscience can feel.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
Better about it now. I don't know, good for him,
all right.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
And don Tyliver reportedly was arrested for DUI. He was
cited and let go without being taken to jail. He
was pulled over on Tuesday. He was allegedly speeding in
the San Fernando Valley and there were signs of impairment
observed by the police, but he was not taking to jail.
He was instead cided for a suspicion of dui and
released on the spot. He did just recently have a
beautiful baby boy. So you know, I don't know what

(07:44):
type of stress. But I'll tell you this. Anytime I
have a drink, I'm like, I'm not driving. I don't
care if it's one drink, I don't play.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
I know you feel drained.

Speaker 4 (07:52):
Wait, Tella, all right, well that is your yut and
when we come back, we have about last night. That's
where we were discussed what we did last night, and
we did have some drinks. But guess what we want?

Speaker 2 (08:03):
So about last night?

Speaker 4 (08:07):
I went down what's up his way up at Angela Yee,
I'm Angela Yee.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
Tell us here and may not just got.

Speaker 9 (08:14):
Just got you know what is how you're doing?

Speaker 3 (08:17):
I'm great, and.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
We're doing about last night? Maybe you just had a
little incident.

Speaker 9 (08:21):
You just had a little incident. What happened, old white man?
We just got almost went to jail, So tell us
what happened. So I pulled up. I wanted to go
to the store, and I pulled up.

Speaker 10 (08:29):
I pulled up into the crosswalk and then he you
know a lot of these guys they think that they
run the street.

Speaker 9 (08:33):
So he's like, move move your car to move me,
move me. You can do it right, move me. So
he said, I will.

Speaker 10 (08:40):
And when I went to get out the door, when
I want to open my door to see what he
was about, he helped my door so I couldn't get out.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
He's touching your car, a violation, violation.

Speaker 10 (08:50):
But as I think about it, I'm glad he helped
my door because if I had got out and then
he was right, and then I was just I would
have been in jail to have been calling you from
now question.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
He was that powerful that he held the door and
you couldn't.

Speaker 9 (09:02):
Easy to hold the door because all you have to
do is push it.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
Oh no, man, you might need to do some push ups.

Speaker 9 (09:07):
I wasn't. I wasn't.

Speaker 10 (09:08):
I wasn't trying to force it open. I wasn't trying
to like wow, And.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
So then what ended up like after that, he.

Speaker 9 (09:14):
Just he backed up.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
He backed up.

Speaker 10 (09:16):
He kind of like backed up so that it was
we wasn't close. By the time I got out the car,
he was like a couple of spaces away.

Speaker 9 (09:22):
From me. Then I would have had to kind of
like run him down, and that wouldn't.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
Have been good, would have done that.

Speaker 9 (09:27):
You know what, it was a lose.

Speaker 10 (09:28):
Lose, Well, thank god for this is an old white
man mind you Like, it's not even like.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
You're not gonna win in that situation. For many reasons.

Speaker 9 (09:36):
It's just all bad.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
But I can't even imagine how frustrating something like that
could be, because but.

Speaker 10 (09:40):
I'm glady, I'm glady. I'm kind of glad he helped
my door and not allowed me to get out, because
if I'd have got out, it would have been worse, right,
have been really really really bad.

Speaker 6 (09:49):
I remember one time this lady hit the hood of
my car almost ran over.

Speaker 9 (09:54):
I had to just catch you. Got it.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
Sometimes you're driving that or anybody, you gotta just be like,
who's up.

Speaker 9 (10:00):
It's not gonna go the where you wanted to go.

Speaker 11 (10:02):
You know.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
It's interesting because last night I was hosting the upfront
for Bounce TV for this show Johnson, right, and it's
going into its fourth season. But it's about four guys
all that their last name is Johnson, their best friends,
and there's always scenes in there because it's it's focused on,
you know, black men with their relationships with each other,
but also real life things and there's always instances where

(10:22):
they got to hold back because somebody is doing something crazy.

Speaker 9 (10:26):
Yeah, because this is a lose lose. And then I'm
looking at him, I'm like this, He's like he's old.
It's not gonna be right.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
Yeah, this is and this is may Okay, Well, I'm glad.
We gotta know. Well, I'm sorry that that happened.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
To you, and it happens over So what we're gonna
do what We're gonna have a shot to celebrate the
fact that you did the you did the right thing.

Speaker 9 (10:50):
And that's you're.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
You say that every time?

Speaker 9 (10:54):
What about when is that fifth?

Speaker 3 (10:58):
All right, we'll talk about it, but that is about
last night.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
And when we come back, we have tell us a
secret eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty any
secret that you have and you want to tell us.
It's a no judgment zone and you're anonymous. It's way up.

Speaker 9 (11:36):
You're forty two old?

Speaker 3 (11:37):
What virgin? Okay? So what led you to this decision?

Speaker 12 (11:44):
I'm trying to hold my stock.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
You're trying to hold your stock.

Speaker 4 (11:47):

I went into the bathroom my morning bow bow I
got up without working it, you know, wiping it and
right and.

Speaker 12 (12:59):
There.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
So you wiped your bowel movement with his toothbrush and
put it back in the thing.

Speaker 15 (13:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 16 (13:09):
Oh, and.

Speaker 3 (13:11):

Speaker 3 (13:18):
Okay, Oh wow, Well that.

Speaker 4 (13:22):
That's a nasty revenge after a bowel movement I had.
Oh my god, what if he's like this toothpaste is
delicious today. Well, thank you for sharing, and I'm glad
you got out of that relationship.

Speaker 6 (13:41):
Don't feel bad it.

Speaker 3 (13:42):
We're gonna be mad at us for that, but hey,
you said, don't I'm done worse. You've done worse.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
I told you tailor has secrets, and.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
Thank you for sharing you. Oh my gosh. All right,
well that was.

Speaker 4 (13:57):
Tell us a secret eight hundred nine fifty number. In
case you couldn't get through. You can always leave a
message and we'll hear your secret that way at the
end of the show, during the last word, and when
we come back, we have your yeeee And let's talk
about Danny Lay's brother, Brandon Bill's he is still trying
to serve the baby. It's been two years, man, and
he still can't serve him. Will tell you what he's

(14:17):
trying to do in its place.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
It's way up.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
About the lead ab off this, but just get it.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
Angela's building that yee te Come and get the tea.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
What's up?

Speaker 3 (14:27):
His way up with Angela?

Speaker 13 (14:28):
Yee.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
I'm Angela yee. And Shella's here. Good, okay, good, I'm glad.
Absolutely all right, Well let's get into some yet. According
to a report Farmader Online, Danny Lay's brother, remember Brandon
Bill's that whole situation they had in the bowling alley,
He's still trying to serve the baby. This is from
two years ago, after that night.

Speaker 10 (14:48):
He's still trying to serve him. Yeah, you want to
take him a court.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
Yeah, he's still trying to serve him.

Speaker 4 (14:53):
He actually hired a private investigator to locate and serve him.
He was unsuccessful in tracking him down. And that's wild
because your sister also has a baby with him.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
So yeah, so you would think he.

Speaker 6 (15:06):
Can find him.

Speaker 9 (15:06):
So what's the charge because he beat him?

Speaker 4 (15:09):
Yeah, I guess so you know, And it's an assault lawsuit,
and so they.

Speaker 9 (15:14):
Wanted to fight, didn't he?

Speaker 6 (15:15):
Yeah, he did.

Speaker 3 (15:16):
Until I was there that night.

Speaker 9 (15:17):
He was wow, it was wanted to fight.

Speaker 6 (15:21):
He wanted to smoke and then he guess he beat
That's what happened. So you know he got what he
was looking for.

Speaker 4 (15:26):
Well, he's just trying to get damages in that case
and the amount has not been disclosed, but he did
say he's separate physical and psychological damage.

Speaker 9 (15:34):
As it was smoking. You get smoking, it don't go
your way then you want to And.

Speaker 4 (15:40):
The other thing is that since he can't find him
to serve him, he wants to be able to inform
him of the lawsuit via a newspaper. So you know,
when you can't serve somebody, you got to find out
why you can't put.

Speaker 9 (15:49):
Your hands on nobody. This is why why I've been
sued three times?

Speaker 3 (15:55):
Right, really, did you win or lose?

Speaker 9 (15:58):
Lost?

Speaker 4 (16:01):
After you start losing that money, I remember method man.
I used to say that from jumping in the crowd,
you get sued. He was like, every single time, somebody's
gonna sue you, and it costs so much money.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
All right, Now, joining.

Speaker 4 (16:11):
Lucas was on Jason Lee's show on Hollywood Unlocked, and
he talked about dating Ashanti. Remember they were in that
video together and it was very spicy, but who knew
that they really dated.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
Well, here's what he had to say about it.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
I was that it was dope.

Speaker 14 (16:26):
You know what it is.

Speaker 15 (16:26):
I'm a project. I don't really talking about but what
I do. What I will say is that she's an
amazing person. I'm just excited to know how much she
wanted to be a mom. How'd you know we had
those conversations. You guys talked about having a baby together.

Speaker 9 (16:38):
We talked about a lot of it was respectful.

Speaker 4 (16:41):
He said, he's never been asked this before because people
were in the comments like why is he telling this
now when she's happily moved on? And he's like, look,
me and her are still cool to this day. It's
no bad blood. I was asked about it, and you know,
he told the truth respectfully.

Speaker 5 (16:56):
Right, But why you got to let people know you correcked?

Speaker 3 (16:58):
You feel me?

Speaker 13 (16:59):
Well?

Speaker 3 (16:59):
Today he didn't say it like, you know, well dated
crack this kind of scene.

Speaker 9 (17:04):
I remember the video it was kissing. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
The video was very very like yeah, yeah.

Speaker 9 (17:09):
Right, so I got brozone. You got brozone mm hm
told you, Oh yeah.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
Yeah, they noticed like our brother, what you're like, brother?

Speaker 12 (17:20):
What?

Speaker 6 (17:21):
All right?

Speaker 4 (17:21):
Well that is your eut and when we come back,
we have under the radar. These are the stories that
are not necessarily in the headlines. They're flying under the radar,
but you definitely need to know about them.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
Still. It's way up.

Speaker 1 (17:32):
News in the news that relates to you. These stories
are flying under the radar.

Speaker 4 (17:37):
What's up this way up with Angela gyee? I'm Angela ye,
my girl, Cella. That's right, it's in the building. You're
ready for these under the radar stories. That's gred it
all right. Walmart shoppers may be entitled for up to
five hundred dollars in cash, and that is after they
agreed to pay a forty five million dollar class action
lawsuit because of quote weighted goods. What that means is
they were overcharging customers for soul by way items. So

(18:00):
that means like the meat, the poultry, the pork, seafood,
citrus fruit, things like that. They were overcharging people between
October nineteenth, twenty eighteen and January nineteenth, twenty twenty four.
So you guys could qualify for that five hundred dollars.
So if you want to try to do that, you
can submit that claim online or through the mail by
June fifth, twenty twenty four. That's how you'll get the compensation.

(18:22):
If you have your receipts, you can qualify for up
to five hundred dollars cash back. And if you don't
have your receipts, you may still be able to get
up to twenty five dollars. You can try to get
those receipts also in Walmart's website too, looking at your
past purchase history.

Speaker 5 (18:35):
That's what's up.

Speaker 6 (18:36):
And if you don't have your receipts, take it out
a self checkout.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
Just take a kidding, just get your reparations. Get yo,
get back, all right.

Speaker 4 (18:46):
We also know some people who can get some receipts
for you. Oh you know what I'm saying. No, I'm kidding,
we don't, all right now. The parents of Oxford High
School mass shooter Ethan Crumbley, that's Jennifer and James Crumbly.
We're sentenced to ten to fifteen years yesterday. Each of
them were found guilty of four counts of an involuntary manslaughter.
They had separate trials earlier this year. They've already served

(19:07):
eight hundred and fifty eight days in jail while awaiting trial.
That will be deducted from their sentence. But this was
a very rare case of parents facing criminal charges impossible
jail time over their role in a shooting that's carried
out by their child. They could have faced up to
fifteen years in prison for each count, but they asked
for ten to fifteen years total for each parent from prosecutors,
according to a sentencing memo. According to prosecutors, the parents

(19:30):
ignored several warning signs in the days leading up to
the shooting, and they had just bought their son the
weapon that he used in the shooting. The prosecution argued,
parents failed to secure the weapon and limit their son's
access to it, so now they're in jail.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
All right, that is.

Speaker 4 (19:44):
Your under the radar, And you know it's a Wednesday.
We got the way it mixed at the top of
the hour plus a Wealth Wednesday with Vanessa James from
Vanessa James Media. Building a business by being yourself. You'll
find out how she was able to leave her nine
to five and start her own production company.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
Way up.

Speaker 4 (20:01):
She's like the tuk like they Angelie Jean like they
Angelie Jean.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
Man, she's spilling it all. This is yet way up.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
What's up? His way up?

Speaker 4 (20:12):
At Angela Yee, I'm Angela Yee. Chella's hair, Maino's here. Yes,
let's get it to some yeet Meghan. This stallion is
on the cover of Women's Health magazine.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
Man.

Speaker 4 (20:21):
First of all, anytime somebody does a cover that magazine,
they are always in amazing shape. I know people have
said they've done that before that magazine and have purposely,
like really worked out hard.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
And she's been working out really hard.

Speaker 6 (20:32):
Yes, she is.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
So.

Speaker 4 (20:34):
She talked about, of course her working out in her
period of transformation, also becoming the ultimate hype woman for
herself and being an undeniable force in music.

Speaker 3 (20:44):
She's got a lot of great things going on.

Speaker 4 (20:46):
But she did have to heal physically, and she said
mentally she suffered a lot of people didn't treat me
like I was a human For a long time, she
said she got a lot of hate from fellow artists, strangers,
and bloggers who questioned her recollection of the experience of
what happened that night with Tory Lanez. She said, I
feel like people everybody was always used to me being
the fun and happy party girl. I watched people build
me up, tear me down, and be confused about their

(21:08):
expectations of me as a black woman, as a darker
black woman. I also feel like people expect me to
take the punches, take the beating, take the lashings, and
handle it with grace. But I'm human, and so, she said,
she did suppress her true feelings for a while. In
addition to that, she also went on Live and talks
about a few different things, including the fact that people
think she had a nose job.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
Here's what she said. I'd be like, oh my gosh,
they y'all need to comprehend on much recovery surgery.

Speaker 4 (21:38):
Take Moving on to other people, even Marsa was on
Taarman Hall and people have been talking about her weight loss.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
You guys have seen she definitely looks like she lost
a lot of weight. You haven't.

Speaker 9 (21:50):
I don't think I've seen it.

Speaker 3 (21:51):
I think a lot of people have been commenting on it.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
Well.

Speaker 4 (21:53):
She said that it was because of her divorce and
she was unable to eat.

Speaker 3 (21:57):
Here's what she said.

Speaker 16 (21:58):
Anyone that's ever been through knows that divorce is hard.
It's like the stomach flu like, you will be skinny afterwards.
I lost weight just naturally going through life, and I
found myself depressed trying to just navigate and rediscover who
am I.

Speaker 4 (22:14):
Yeah, depression either it'll make you overeat or undeat.

Speaker 3 (22:17):
Yeah, that's stress, true.

Speaker 9 (22:18):
I'll probably eat more if I was stressing.

Speaker 4 (22:21):
I remember I went through a period of time in
my life when I was so stressed out and I
lost so much weight.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
But then I was like happy about it?

Speaker 9 (22:26):
Right right?

Speaker 3 (22:28):
I was like, man, I'm stressed all right.

Speaker 4 (22:30):
And then lastly, let's talk about Yandy and then DC
on Love and Hip Hop? This was actually trending, and
it looks like they're having a lot of issues in
their relationship. And when producers asked him in DC if
he's ever considered divorce, here's what he had to say.

Speaker 13 (22:44):
Could you never see yourself actually divorcing Andy?

Speaker 8 (22:48):
I don't know.

Speaker 13 (22:49):
I asked myself that question every day and can come
up with an answer.

Speaker 3 (22:52):
That's wild. They've been together for a long time.

Speaker 4 (22:55):
I mean even while he was locked up, she was
taking care of his kids.

Speaker 3 (22:59):
Their kids.

Speaker 9 (23:00):
It's it's love and hip hop? Is it really real?

Speaker 3 (23:02):
You don't believe it?

Speaker 9 (23:03):
I don't know because I don't know.

Speaker 10 (23:04):
Is it real or is it Does it help the
storyline to see that they're going through something like to
spice it up?

Speaker 12 (23:10):
Right?

Speaker 9 (23:10):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (23:11):
But if you look at him, he just looked kind
of over it.

Speaker 4 (23:14):
I feel like TV, but I feel like man, DC
kind of always just looks like that.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
Though.

Speaker 10 (23:21):
If the storyline is that they happily married and they
got businesses together.

Speaker 9 (23:24):
Then that's not as compelling, right, It's not as spicy.

Speaker 3 (23:27):
It's relatable as like going through it.

Speaker 10 (23:30):
So if they're going through it and it looks real, Dan,
it gives it like a little.

Speaker 4 (23:34):
You know, although it's hard to play about your real
life because they do have kids that are old enough
to see that, so do you want to?

Speaker 9 (23:41):
But it's not it's not toxic. It's just kind of
like regular.

Speaker 4 (23:44):
Right, Mammy and Daddy are acting well I don't know,
I can't say, but if they are acting, they're doing
a good job because Yandy really does look like.

Speaker 3 (23:53):
And they've been together for a while, so you.

Speaker 4 (23:55):
Know, and you know what, the dynamics definitely feel like
it changed from when he was in jail and she
had to hold everything down, right, and then he came
home and he's basically like, I'm home now. You don't
got to act the same way and do the same things.
But she got so used to it, you know, So
that's a that is a weird dynamic. But hey, it
has us talking, so if it was not real, we
are definitely discussing it. All right, Well, that is your

(24:17):
yut and when we come back, we have ask ye.
Eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty is the number.
Any question that you have, We're here to help you out.

Speaker 1 (24:23):
It's way up, but it's relationship for career advice. Angela's
dropping facts.

Speaker 9 (24:27):
You should know.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
This is ask gee, what's up?

Speaker 3 (24:30):
Its way up? But Angela yee.

Speaker 4 (24:32):
I'm Angela Yee and I'm here with my girl Cella
from Chicago, right, and Mano is here, the award winning
advice giver, and it's time for ask ye. Eight hundred
two ninety two fifty one fifty is the number we
got James on the line.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
What's up, James on? What's going on? What is your
question for? Ask ye?

Speaker 13 (24:50):
I'm out wrong for not want to pay my old You.

Speaker 4 (24:53):
Don't want to pay your woman's bills anymore? So, break
down this whole scenario because you were paying all the bills,
but now you don't want to do that.

Speaker 1 (25:01):
She did a little bit with me, and so I
felt like when I got out and started dealing together,
I feel like I need to pay.

Speaker 15 (25:07):
Her back some type of ways.

Speaker 12 (25:08):
So I just can't out visits.

Speaker 4 (25:09):
Then, like right this month, you felt like you kind
of old her for holding you down.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
How long was you locked up? Two is okay?

Speaker 12 (25:17):
So now kind of lost my job, but I still
been holding the field herself down.

Speaker 9 (25:21):
But it's been going on a couple of months.

Speaker 12 (25:23):
I still ain't no job like this.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
They're trying to get.

Speaker 12 (25:25):
Money here and there, and it's like, naw, I can't
keep doing it, and he ain't feeling that. I feel
like you should understand It's a way.

Speaker 10 (25:32):
She should understand it, and she should be able able
to adapt to that because she has a job right
in my correct Yeah, she works right right, So you
can't swim in the pool with no water. If you
ain't got it, you ain't got it. And somebody don't
understand that, then it's whatever.

Speaker 4 (25:47):
But James, I want to make sure so she doesn't
pay for anything. Do you want to stay with her.
Do you want to still be with her or are
you just with her because you feel.

Speaker 12 (25:55):
Like I did that. I feel like this situation came across.

Speaker 8 (25:59):
It's like I don't even thank you watch.

Speaker 9 (26:02):
I mean, at first I think you should throw her away.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
Because she watches children.

Speaker 10 (26:09):
If you don't understand if you need to be with
somebody that understands, you need to be with somebody that
helps bring you harmony. That's a black man. He out
there going out against the world to fight the world.
He need to come home to harmony.

Speaker 5 (26:20):
But he also got to work too.

Speaker 9 (26:21):
But he lost his job. He will.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
Y'all understand she watched your children too.

Speaker 8 (26:30):
No, we don't have no kids, we're not near will
contribute when I even do.

Speaker 16 (26:36):
That, do that idea?

Speaker 4 (26:39):
If she can't contribute to the household too, then and
there's no way that she's down to do that. I
don't think that's fair in any way. I get it,
like she held you down. Now you came home. You
pay for things, because relationships got to be a thing
where both of y'all come together for the good of
what's good for the relationship. And it's really not fair
to you if financially the entire burden is on you

(27:02):
and she's making money and stacking her money, But what
are you stacking if things don't work out? And if
she can't understand that, you know, then that's not her.
It might just be maybe we're just not in a
relationship because you're not respecting the fact that I'm having
rough times and it honestly, it never feels good to
not have money and not be making the money that
you were, So it's already a downer for you and

(27:24):
for her to not be supportive and say I got you,
cause it is supposed to be when things aren't good
for you and i'm up, I got you.

Speaker 3 (27:31):
And when i'm up, you know I got you.

Speaker 4 (27:33):
So if she don't got you, then it can't be
a one way relationship.

Speaker 6 (27:37):
But I think y'all should go back to the drawing
board because nine times out of ten, some getting left out.
So I will go down, write all the bills down
and see who go pay for what, and then just
take it from there.

Speaker 4 (27:47):
Yeah, handle your business, James, because you know you was
locked up. Now it's time for you to do what
you need to do for yourself. And if somebody is
not going to help elevate your situation. That's not the
right person stopping me. Thank you, Janemes. I appreciate all right,
Well that was asked ye And in case you couldn't
get through and you have a question eight hundred two
ninety two fifty one fifty we take your questions off

(28:09):
the voicemail as well. But when we come back it
is a Wealth Wednesday. We have Vanessa James joining us.
Building a business by being yourself. She has her own
production company and she'll talk to you about how she
started that.

Speaker 3 (28:21):
When she came from the world of radio. It's way up.

Speaker 10 (28:24):
She'd dream of wealthy and I don't mind sharing my
wealth dog.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
Getting you straight financially, mentally and physically. This is Wealth
Wednesday on Way Up with Angela Yee.

Speaker 3 (28:34):
What's up? It's way up with Angela Yee.

Speaker 4 (28:36):
I'm Angela Yee and my Wealth Wednesday partner Stacey Tisdale
is here.

Speaker 17 (28:39):
Happy Wealth Wednesday, everybody, and we are so excited. We
have a very special guest today, the one, the only,
Vanessa James.

Speaker 11 (28:47):
Hi, everybody, I am so excited to be on this
program today.

Speaker 3 (28:50):
See this is why she's good at what she does.
She already started it off right.

Speaker 4 (28:54):
But you know, Vanessa, you do have a background in
radio and in media, so let's talk about how you
got started, and by the way, you can follow her
at Vanessa James Media.

Speaker 11 (29:02):
Boy started off much like you in radio and radio.
For me started off in Tallahassee, where I met Doc
Winter we know very well, and transitioned down to South
Florida and that's where I got my first programming slash
so on the air as well as music director.

Speaker 5 (29:16):
I'm training, so multiple jobs.

Speaker 3 (29:18):
That's OLLI jobs, OLLI jobs.

Speaker 11 (29:19):
Born in Trinidad, Born in Trinidad, and then transitioned to
being on the air. So it was great back then
to just kind of figure out do I like programming
more or you know, being on the air more, doing
promotions more. And I realized in order to be really great,
you do have to pick a lane, so I picked
programmer to start. So in two thousand and nine, when
my station flipped, I decided I didn't want to go

(29:40):
to another radio market and I started Vanessa James Media
at that time so I could pay myself because I
was doing a lot of freelance work and clients would
be like, can you send me an invoice?

Speaker 5 (29:47):
I'm like, let me figure out.

Speaker 11 (29:49):
What invoys when we get this company together, and that's
how we kind of get started with that. And I
transitioned into doing hosting and doing voice over full time,
and that's really HOVINGNESSA. James Media was born really out
of assess.

Speaker 4 (30:00):
It's a Wealth Wednesday and Vanessa James, the founder of
Vanessa James Media, is here alongside my Wealth Wednesday partner's
Stacy Tisdale.

Speaker 9 (30:07):
Look what you ended up doing.

Speaker 17 (30:09):
You started in a corporation, went entrepreneurial, but now you're
not only doing media work. You're doing events, you're doing coaching,
you're doing what all busy? Is that busy gel So
talk about how you you know, you do your voiceovers,
but you've had to build a business around it.

Speaker 11 (30:24):
So VJ Media, which I'm very proud to celebrate it
thirteen years as an anthet election now wild it is.
But I will say the way that I really transitioned
and looking back all this time, it's really kind of
shown me that versatility for me means allowing yourself to
have those opportunities to explore all the different assets. And
I'm so excited to be here on your well show

(30:44):
because I took the time also to save, and so
because I saved money along the way, I didn't just
spend the money on all.

Speaker 5 (30:51):
The Gucci bags and all that stuff.

Speaker 11 (30:52):
I got a chance to be very versatile, to try
things and decide, Okay, here's the journey I want to
take with my business. And I had that flexibility because
I had a little bit of money saved to have
that cushion to be able to be freak and clear
and try things and see how they float.

Speaker 5 (31:07):
Right now, I'm in my event season flow.

Speaker 4 (31:10):
I want to discuss how you decided it was time
for you to actually start to own business, because that's
scary for some people, having the security and safety of
a paycheck and then realizing, okay, now I'm going to
step out on my own.

Speaker 3 (31:23):
When did you realize it was time?

Speaker 11 (31:25):
Well, time was forced upon me when my station fopped.
And at that time I had the choice because I
had great relationships in the industry that I still have,
and so I got calls like hey, VJ, we got
you in you know, San Francisco, And at that time
I had a choice. And for me, I'm very rooted
in my roots right and so for me, South Florida
just felt like a natural fit.

Speaker 5 (31:47):
But I loved that I had.

Speaker 11 (31:48):
Created so much community there and so it didn't feel
like work in terms of building things in South Florida,
because it was very much like building things with your people.
And that's when I realized, you know what, it was
just time to kind of step out and have faith
on me and not go take that secure radio job,
which was the same amount of money, but it was
a lateral move. And I'm like, San Francisco is like
thirty five a week for Renna cost you a lot.

(32:09):
It's gonna set to be a lot to move there.
And I had no roots there, and so I would
just tell people who are starting in business, where are
your roots firmly planted?

Speaker 5 (32:17):
That's where you should spring from. That's great advice, you
know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (32:20):
It's really easy to keep.

Speaker 5 (32:22):
Starting over and over and over and over.

Speaker 11 (32:24):
But at the end of the day, where do you
feel like you're your most comfortable self and you have
a community of people that you can call and reach
on and say, hey, I'm launching this, and they're quick
and willing to support you because they know you and
you've spent time building with them all.

Speaker 4 (32:37):
Right, we have more with Vanessa James, the founder of
Vanessa James Media. We're talking about building a business by
being yourself. It's a Wealth Wednesday. Stacy Tisdall is here
and more when we come back.

Speaker 7 (32:49):
I've had a.

Speaker 10 (32:49):
Dream of wealthy and I don't mind sharing my wealth
dogs getting you straight financially, mentally and physically.

Speaker 1 (32:56):
This is Wealth Wednesday on way up with Angela Ye.

Speaker 4 (32:59):
What's up his way? Angela yee, I'm Angela Yee. It's
a Wealth Wednesday. Stacy Tisdale is here with me and
we are talking to Vanessa James. She is the founder
of Vanessa James Media and she is talking about building
a business by being yourself.

Speaker 3 (33:12):
All right, Stacy, you have a question through all of this.

Speaker 17 (33:15):
One of the many businesses that sprung up is coaching
women entrepreneurs. How did you get so passionate about that?

Speaker 11 (33:21):
Celebrating womanhood and celebrating togetherness is really who I am.
So I created events like VJ Media Mixology and VJ
Media's Women of Impact in her every year in South Florida,
which you should definitely come to. And I want to
talk to you about food. One in fact two PEPs
i should be there, really just giving a chance to
celebrate other women. And what I've realized in the last
ten years is celebrating other women really means growing your network,

(33:44):
growing your community. When you start to celebrate other people
and you're joyous about it, things just flow to you.

Speaker 5 (33:50):
I started to do it and love it.

Speaker 11 (33:51):
And now events, it's time again for VJ Media post
pandemic to start doing these events again. On our first
ones coming up this May, and it's a celebration of
Caribbean women, Caribbean community all right in Miami there.

Speaker 17 (34:03):
When you coach women, what are some of the things
that you're like, Oh, this again.

Speaker 11 (34:07):
Definitely the business part of things, like making sure they
have their business and their money in order, and making
sure that things are trademarked. It's not just about BJ
I want to start a business. It's about Okay, great,
I'm so excited for you. Let's talk about this blueprint
of your business. What does it look like, what does
it feel like? What do you want your business to
feel like to the world. Once you get past that blueprint, now,
let's firm things up. Sis Okay, let's make sure you

(34:30):
have it. Llced or Es Corporate Incorporated based on you know,
your style of business. Let's make sure you have a
little bit of funding, and if you don't, let's see
where you can get some grants locally to help you springboard. Right,
Let's look at the other women in your community and
other people in your community that you can lean on
for graphics or you know, production or your website. Because

(34:50):
you can't do it all alone, no, right, So it's
really about how you create that network so that you
can spring forward.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
It's a Wealth Wednesday and Vanessa James, the founder of
Vanessa James Me is here alongside my Wealth Wednesday partner
is Stacy Tisdale.

Speaker 17 (35:03):
You mentioned local grants, Yeah, and that's something so few
people think about talk about that.

Speaker 11 (35:09):
Local grants are so important, especially women owned businesses. Think
about all the different things that you do, and especially
if you're just getting started in your business. There are
companies that are looking to just give money away because
it's a write off for them, specifically in your area.
And then also local businesses that fund and support other
women in the form of grants. So what I would

(35:29):
say to you to do is google local grants for
women in Miami and see what pops up. When I
first was getting started. I had applied for two, I
got one. I think it was like five thousand dollars,
but I use that five thousand dollars. And now the
grant process is very laborious, so you have to be
prepared to have all those documents to prove that you're
women owned at least fifty percent, and that you you know,

(35:50):
if you have employees or if it's just you, all
those things. You have to make sure the blueprint I
was talking about, make sure you have that altogether first.
But then you can apply, and you'd be surprised how
many businesses and how many resources that are out there
to help support other women.

Speaker 4 (36:02):
Yeah, sometimes people don't apply for some of these guys
are so few that it makes it a lot easier exactly.

Speaker 11 (36:08):
They're like, how come no one's applied, Especially if you
qualify and you and you check all those boxes. It's
very important.

Speaker 17 (36:14):
What's your website because all media dot com.

Speaker 4 (36:16):
And I can tell media dot com for all things BJA,
You're amazing and we appreciate you for coming.

Speaker 9 (36:20):
They are just like a breath of fresh air.

Speaker 3 (36:22):
Thank you. I'm so honored to be here and we're
looking forward to doing more. With you in the future.

Speaker 11 (36:27):
Sameek forward to you can't wait for all your events. Okay,
thank you Stacy, Thank you Angela for having me.

got two more days.

this is Yasha. You guys always had the last word,
you know.

Speaker 12 (37:36):
I don't know.

Speaker 8 (37:37):
This is weird, little strange and nothing, but I got
a lot of teeth, so I kind of sort of
brushed my teeth with a first. There's only biggest bush
I can play from my teeth. I don't know, but
I just want to share it as a secret and
as nobody's knows what.

Speaker 2 (37:52):
