Speaker 3 (01:07):
Man, Yeah, run through, come through, all right. But in
the meantime, let's pread some love. Let's shine a light
eight hundred and two nine fifty one fifty. Let us
know who you want to shine a light on. Shout
out to everybody who is back at work today. And
in honor of that, here is Rihanna and Drake. You
may never hear them together again on a song, but
here's where it's way.
Speaker 6 (01:27):
Turn your lights on, y'all, spreading love to those who
are doing greatness. Shine the light on. It's time to
shine a light on.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
All right, it's way up. I'm here and Travis here,
mm hmm. Mayno's in the building.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (01:44):
No, that's right, and let's shine a light on somebody
breaking barriers. And she's actually from Detroit and she has
loved football since age. For her name is Antoinette Tony Harris.
She is the first woman on a full football.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Scholarship shot Anette.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
Yes, so a woman getting the first time this has
ever happened. She liked football ever since she was four,
over cheerleading, over track and field, over everything else. She
watched her cousin's play, then later on joined her grade
school football team and then a lot of her teammates
and except the fact you know, women playing football. But
after two years in college football, she made history. The
first woman to sign a four year college football scholarship
(02:21):
was Central Methodist University and she did get numerous offers
shout out to her office to go to different schools,
but she did end up picking Central Methodist University.
Speaker 5 (02:31):
So shout out to her.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
What's her position?
Speaker 5 (02:33):
I don't know what her position is. It don't look
like she's kicking over and.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
She has to be a kicker. I'm like, what else
can she be?
Speaker 3 (02:39):
Oh, she's a receiver?
Speaker 1 (02:40):
She receiver?
Speaker 5 (02:41):
Yeah, why she can't be?
Speaker 2 (02:42):
We?
Speaker 7 (02:42):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (02:42):
Man, I want to see her get smacked. That's what
I hat.
Speaker 5 (02:44):
No anyway, who do you guys want to shine a
light on?
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty Derek, Who
you want to shine a light on?
Speaker 2 (02:51):
I want to sign a light on myself. I'm the
producer behind the introduction.
Speaker 8 (02:55):
For Way Up in the Morning with Flyers.
Speaker 9 (02:56):
That's my homie.
Speaker 5 (02:57):
Oh, get out of here. That's you, yes.
Speaker 8 (03:00):
Man, I would love to have just a real good conversation.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
I just wanted to make you more.
Speaker 6 (03:04):
Music for you.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
Oh my god, so where can people find you? Thank
you so much for that though. That was such a
nice surprise. We get to play that every single day
up here.
Speaker 6 (03:11):
I love it.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
I'm so enthused to here and it's amazing.
Speaker 6 (03:14):
So you can find me.
Speaker 9 (03:15):
On Instagram at Priority Beat.
Speaker 7 (03:18):
My wife and I were Grammy nominated music producers based
in Atlanta.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
All right, Priority Beats, all right, thank you so much.
I really appreciate it. I love the whole song.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
Thank you again.
Speaker 5 (03:28):
All right, take care?
Speaker 3 (03:29):
All right, Well that was Shining Light eight hundred two
nine fifty one fifty. If you couldn't get through, you
can always leave a message and let's do some yeet
when we come back. Bad Baby is trending and the
topic of domestic violence is an important one.
Speaker 5 (03:41):
We'll talk about what happened and what we saw online.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
It's way up, it says in the rooms.
Speaker 6 (03:47):
From industry shade to all of gossip out send Angeles
speeling that eat.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
All right, this way up, I'm here, Travis here, you're
Maino's here.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
Good morning.
Speaker 5 (03:58):
You may know time now this was sad.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Bad Baby shared some doorbell video and on the video
you can see her ex boyfriend very clearly assaulting her.
And he's also the father of her child, LaVaughn, and
so you can see him hitting her.
Speaker 5 (04:13):
She's on the ground.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
She then posted photos of herself with a swollen black eye.
It looks un.
Speaker 5 (04:21):
Really really bad.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Ladies, love yourself, like, please love yourself up to watching that.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
And she posted me and lv ain't been together for
real since May. She posted that in her stories and
she did post and delete the footage right and then
she said, I love that man more than I love myself,
and it's honestly really sad.
Speaker 5 (04:39):
But unfortunately this is real life.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
I know the easy way out is to leave, and
that's better said than done.
Speaker 5 (04:44):
I just want to say that's not the easy way out,
by the way.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
That is the strong hard thing to do, right, is
to just leave a situation. It's easier to say to leave,
but it's hard to do sometimes. She said, this doesn't
happen this extreme often, but LVI definitely has a problem.
He's going to get the help he needs right now.
There's no room for mistakes. And you know, she goes
on to say, he knows that whoever says they are
(05:07):
there for me will be supportive of me no matter
what I choose to do. Y'all know I give an
mf hel but there's no excuse for that at all, whatsoever.
My point in sharing this wasn't to attack him. It
was for him to see what he does is wrong
and to take accountability and make a real change.
Speaker 7 (05:20):
Can I say, some of you people keep saying like, oh,
but that's to cash me outside girl, That's what she asked.
Now that girl was fifteen years old when she's on
doctor Phild. She has grown up now, she's a different
woman in a relationship that's out here getting abused. So
I think we shouldn't be looking at how she used
to be when she was a child. Taking that situation,
let her grow. And it's also just you don't do
(05:41):
that period.
Speaker 3 (05:42):
Yeah, woman ever, and so the fact that she's also
kind of like making I mean, it's a classic case.
And again she's like anybody who is my friend will
support me. But you know how hard it is when
you have a friend who is in an abusive relationship
and nothing you could do about it.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
They usually go right back right and then if.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
You're not supportive, they'll ignore you, cut you off.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
Then you know what it's to you that you act
like you a problem.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
I just hope for the sake of her child that
she figures out what she needs to do to protect her,
because she also said he was trying to take her
kid from her. All right, now, Sizza has become the
fourth black female artist to gross over one hundred million
dollars from a single tour. Come on now, mama, So
congratulations to her. I mean when I tell you, I
went to her tour and took my god daughters and
(06:28):
had the time of my life. And one thing that
she talked about on Chicken Shop Date, this podcast or
a show, she talked about her kill Bill lyrics, which,
by the way, I love that song.
Speaker 5 (06:37):
But here's what you have to say about the lyrics.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
You might kill your acts.
Speaker 9 (06:41):
Oh my god.
Speaker 10 (06:42):
Like after I said that, it was like, Wow, that
was so crazy.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
I was going to say, have you always been not chilled?
I just like was randomly like just like slightly enraged.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
I got a couple of excents I want to kill
really maybe like one, but.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
You wouldn't do it. I wouldn't do it, but it's
a feeling that if I did, I want to tell you.
Speaker 4 (06:58):
Okay, I'm probably on some.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
I'm sure, but you know the thing about Mayo, nobody
really wants to do that.
Speaker 5 (07:06):
They feel like.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
They probably want to get revenge on you. They probably like,
let me get back together with him and then dump
him and break his heart. I can see women saying,
lady is the way to get Mano upset is to
ignore him. I'm just gonna tell you that right now.
He'll be good time. Yeah, and he's very easy to
(07:29):
like catch anyway. That is your ut. When we come back,
we have about last night. That's where we discussed what
we did last night. Maybe you were on some jet skis,
maybe he was, you know, and shocking festive water life
on the edge.
Speaker 5 (07:44):

Speaker 6 (07:44):

her ten year anniversary. Ilim, all right, I Kim, So
I went over there to celebrate. Ivy Rivera was actually

guy Nobles from Valentino. He was with me to y'all know,
we love our Valentino born in Roma and I watched
supercel Who entire Yeah, so you know what, I was
doing a little research as I always do a deep dive,
and that show is actually the only show that's a
(08:47):
scripted series in the top ten on Netflix right now.
Everything else is like a reality show and you know,
in a documentary.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
So it's like a superhero type.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
Yes, it's in London and it's a group of black people.
Who do you got to see it. I don't want
to give anything away.

Tokyo Tony and Calyssa, Carlyssa and Tiya Kemp and so
that's the three hosts and the Game was on and

Speaker 5 (17:19):
So a lot of what was happening.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
And this is so sad because I just saw Angela
White aka Black China and she definitely has changed her life.
But she came up in the conversation. She was actually
brought up by her mom.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
I ain't never told nobody mama this about their kid,
my life.
Speaker 4 (17:34):
But you ain't gonna be your daughter. Ain't no slosh

Speaker 1 (17:45):
What happened to the men that didn't used to talk?
Speaker 4 (17:48):
She brought it up first though.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
Well, no, what happened was Tokyo Tony was flirting with Game,
and then Tia jumped in and was like, you don't
have the daughter. Now you're trying to get the mama.
That ish ain't right, dog, you ain't got it like that.
Respect these auntie's over here, nephew. And that's when the
Game jumped in and said that. So clips of the
podcast have been shared online. Tokyo Tony was getting a
lot of heat for what she had to say, and
here was her response, Just TV.
Speaker 11 (18:13):
I'm a home murder, we all say in Washington last
night and it was funny.
Speaker 4 (18:18):
So so she's saying to me, either is.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Cap Yeah, she was like, you know, it's entertainment basically,
it's what she's saying, it's just TV. But the game,
I mean, he has these lyrics that have allegedly, according
to TMZ, triggered a fight between Black China aka Angela
White and Rob. If you guys heard his this song,
they said that he didn't realize that they had anything
(18:42):
going on previously with each other, and so, you know,
some of.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
The lyrics games, so he didn't realize that.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
No, Rob Kardashian didn't the game spent a lot of
time around the family, so.
Speaker 5 (18:52):
It made him feel weird.
Speaker 7 (18:53):
Game was always being messy to me. It seems like
every time I see him, he doing something messy.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
All right, well that is your Yet, when we come
back under the radar, stories that are not necessarily in
the headlines, they're flying under the radar. Big story out
right now about Joe Biden and the letter that he
wrote up and that's what people asking him to step down.
Speaker 4 (19:08):
You could win in twenty twenty.
Speaker 5 (19:09):
Well, talk about it. It's way up.
Speaker 6 (19:11):
These stories are flying under the radar.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
All right, It's way up by Angela Yee, Travis here mayno's.
Speaker 4 (19:18):
Here, no manor morning.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
And this is not necessarily under the radar, but this
just happened today. President Joe Biden put out a letter
today to Congressional Democrats that he will continue his re
election bid even though there are people who are asking
for him to step aside and.
Speaker 5 (19:33):
Get a new candidate.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
And he also said, I want you to know that
despite all the speculation and the president elsewhere, I am
firmly committed to staying in this race, to running this
race to the end, and to beating Donald Trump.
Speaker 7 (19:43):
And he could beat him again in twenty twenty. And
that's why Joe to wake up. Stop being so sleepy, bro,
wake up and get out there and twenty.
Speaker 3 (19:51):
I think what he meant was he did know what
he meant him before, and I beat him before. I
meant to say in twenty twenty before and I'll beat
him again. But his words sometimes, you know, And I
think everybody focuses on like the mistakes, but most of
the time, it's not mistakes.
Speaker 5 (20:06):
It'll be like you know, and just long things that happen.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
But anyway, and I will also say, that's why people
get to pick who the Democratic nominee is. And people
went out and voted and Joe Biden won that nomination.
Speaker 5 (20:19):
So that's what's what makes it hard.
Speaker 4 (20:21):
You want to make sure automatically because he's the president.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
No, you still have to be on the ballot. People
still have to go out and see who is going
to be the nominee.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
Yah, they have to. If Kamala wanted to go against him,
she could have, but.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
As vice president, I don't know that that's a thing
to do right always the president. And I also want
to really stress that we are also not voting for
just a president, but also a whole administration, and so
think about everybody else that works in that administration and
then think about when you think about Donald Trump and
who works in his administration and things that they're trying
to do. I know a lot of people have been
(20:53):
looking at this. There's a whole project twenty twenty five
we need. And Donald Trump may say that's not my thing,
but that's every body. The conservatives that are in position
that look like the dictatorshiping and a lot of rights
have already been rolled back. And you see even with
the Supreme Court and those nominations that Donald Trump made
to Supreme Court, the impact that that has right now
(21:15):
on our rights getting rolled back. So it's just really
important that people stay informed and I also get out
and vote. I think part of this is that people
are discouraged from voting because they're like, I don't like
the nominees, I'm not going to vote at all.
Speaker 5 (21:25):
But sitting down is never an option.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
If you feel like your vote doesn't matter.
Speaker 5 (21:29):
It does all right.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
Now other important things, Wayfair has their first store.
Speaker 5 (21:34):
I don't know if y'all shop on Wayfair, but.
Speaker 3 (21:36):
I've got a lot of furniture and items off of Wayfair,
and I've always said to myself, I wish they had
a store well in the northern Chicago suburbs. Now they
have a one hundred and fifty thousand square foot home
goods store that looks like it's amazing, and I definitely
want to make sure at some point I head out there.
It just opened in late May, so anybody who wants
(21:56):
to do that and is designing their home or buying
some things to refreshed their house. Great option. Lastly, National
Fried Chicken Day was on Saturday. Something that I found
out there's only a few foods that people like over
fried chicken in the US, and those things are hamburgers,
French fries, and grilled cheese sandwiches.
Speaker 4 (22:15):
Grilled cheese sand right, I would have never thought.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
A good grilled cheese sandwich too. So anyway, that is
your under the radar. Now, you know, we got the
way it mixed at the top of the hour. It's
a Monday, so we have some Monday manovation. And we
also have asked Yee eight hundred two nine two fifty
one fifty. She's like the talt like they am Jeli Jean,
like they a Jelie.
Speaker 6 (22:36):
Jean, and she's spilling it all this is yea tee.
Speaker 5 (22:40):
Well it's way up by Angela.
Speaker 3 (22:43):
Yee Travis here, my guy Maino, No mats in the
building and Essence Festival was over the weekend, thirty years
of celebrating. It was a four day celebration. Janet Jackson
was there. They also had a special tribute to Frankie
Beverly and Mays. We Saw Rhymes was there.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
We all saw that.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
Dawn Richard s w B Jagged Edge, we saw Maya
as well.
Speaker 5 (23:10):
But anyway, shout out to everybody.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
That was she looks good.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
I don't know if you've seen this video of her performing.
But then you know, they had our whole Hot Boys
reunion at the festival and Lil Wayne joined the Hot
Boy so of course that was really exciting. He only
came out once Bed and Juvenile joined by Manny Fresh
and Birdman were finished, so people were trying to say
there were some issues there, but he did come out
and perform.
Speaker 5 (23:34):
He was also there, uh when I.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
Was at Essence Festival a couple of years ago as well,
so you know, New Orleans amazing. It was amazing. Maya's
going to be coming on a show later this month
as well. Shot yes, yes she is. I'll let you
know me the dates, legend that it's happening. Kamala Harris
was there, you know, again quite a time for Essen's Festival,
(23:58):
so shout out to all of them. Now to Rena
Williams was on the latest episode of Hot Ones and
imagine getting your first check for a million dollars, right,
and that was her first million dollar tennis winnings that
she ever had, and she went to go and deposit
that check, and you know you can't just deposit a
check for a million dollars.
Speaker 5 (24:15):
Here's what she said.
Speaker 10 (24:16):
I got my check and those a million dollars. Like, okay,
I'm gonna go depositive. So I just went through the
drive through and.
Speaker 4 (24:22):
I was like, you know, you're deposit a million dollars.
Speaker 10 (24:25):
The guy was like, I think you need to come
inside for this, and I was like, okay.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
Shot for her for being blessed even imagine it.
Speaker 4 (24:34):
Where is it now?
Speaker 11 (24:36):
I'm all cash right now at the drive right out,
right now, babe.
Speaker 4 (24:42):
You ain't got to leave it in it gig minds now.
Speaker 7 (24:44):
But I could see how you would just think that
maybe I could just give them the check, and he
just put the positive.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
You know what.
Speaker 3 (24:48):
I had my hands on a million dollar check once
when I was working for Wu Tang, and it was
like a tour sponsorship check and I'll never forget my buss.
Divine was like, I need you to go to the
bank and deposit this check and don't try to get
funny because we'll find you. I was like, okay, no problem.
But I was able to go and deposit the check.
No issues, all right. Ryan Garcia has been expelled by
the World Boxing Council following racist remarks that he made.
(25:11):
Now he's been, by the way saying really awful inflammatory things,
and here were those comments, the rant that he had.
Speaker 11 (25:19):
I'm anti black, Yeah, I'm take kk I hate nick. Hey,
let's go bring George Floyd back to life and kill them.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
We take a CTE for being punched in Ahead.
Speaker 4 (25:32):
He ain't been punching Ahead enough.
Speaker 5 (25:34):
So he did post. I take all responsibility for my words.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
I misunderstood. I got a lot of trauma, and it's
been a tough couple of months as everyone can tell.
Speaker 5 (25:41):
But I am sorry.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
I struggle with substance abuse and it hard for me
with everything going on. I actually love black people, no
cap which is why I'm actually sad. I offended all
my black family and friends. And so he apologized, and
you know, he talked about how people are racist to
him and no one cares. He said Tim Bradley called
him a zoo animal live on ESPN, and no one cares.
(26:04):
I don't think you can compare. But he did say
that he is going to rehab. He also had some
things to say about the Muslim community, and now he's
apologizing for that as well.
Speaker 5 (26:15):
He said, I love Muslim people. I don't believe y'all
are pedals.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
What nice?
Speaker 3 (26:22):
Yeah, Then he also said, I do believe there is
pedals in every religion because men and humans are flawed.
And I don't stand with none of that saying that,
but then say that. And then he also said, Mike
Tyson said he would f a white man in the
a and eat someone's children. And I love uncle Mike.
Why are you bringing him into it? Just take accountability?
Speaker 4 (26:40):
All right?
Speaker 3 (26:40):
Well that is your yet, And when we come back,
it's time for on Monday, all right, it's way up.
Speaker 8 (26:49):
You want to know my name?
Speaker 6 (26:50):
Way up?
Speaker 3 (26:53):
All right, it's way up by the angela Yee Travis here,
and it's a Monday, and it's time for some.
Speaker 4 (27:00):
No hesitation in any situation.
Speaker 5 (27:02):
It's been so long, so let's get somebody.
Speaker 11 (27:04):
Man, And I don't want to say today, Do not, ever,
under any circumstances, dim your life for anyone. Do not
dim your life to try to brighten somebody else's. Do
not turn yourself down to try to make somebody else
feel comfortable. When you walk in the room. Be unapologetically
who you are. Be you at all times. Don't try
to make other people feel comfortable by not being you.
Speaker 4 (27:26):
Don't try.
Speaker 11 (27:26):
Don't step outside of your body to allow people to
be them. You understand, be you no matter what you understand.
And I was having a conversation today with somebody that
I really care about, and I feel like she came
over here and she was dimming her life.
Speaker 4 (27:39):
She wanted other people to shine.
Speaker 11 (27:42):
And it's it's cool to let other people to it's
cool to let other people shine, But don't dim youalls.
Speaker 4 (27:47):
Don't turn your light out.
Speaker 5 (27:49):
I think that's a woman thing too.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
I think a lot of times that we it's hard
for us to be able to take credit for things,
to celebrate, celebrated, used to celebrating other people.
Speaker 4 (28:00):
Be loud.
Speaker 5 (28:00):
Somebody said something that you're like, oh no.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
You're an appreciate the Monday brother.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
Who you are at all times, an apologetic I am her,
that's what you got, ladies see that?
Speaker 5 (28:11):
Or for you guys, I am him.
Speaker 11 (28:13):
I am him Timothy, Timothy, Yeah, yeah, until I walk
in the room.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
All right, See it was good until then, innovation that
when we were shock in the room, you know all right,
Well that was a great menovation on a Monday.
Speaker 5 (28:27):
Don't didn't al late appreciate Monday.
Speaker 3 (28:30):
Sometimes we just feel like, you know, we just want
to give everybody else their praise.
Speaker 5 (28:34):
Yeah, and not be able to be like, you know what,
I'm proud.
Speaker 4 (28:38):
Of me, yeah, proud proud of me.
Speaker 3 (28:40):
All right, Well that was Monday manovation, and of course
you know it is time for asking you when we
come back eight hundred ton two fifty one fifty. We
have the award winning and advice giver he is him
eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifties, and I'm
a meet Traff and may O here to help you
out its way up.
Speaker 6 (28:57):
Look, whether it's relationship for career advice, Angela's dropping facts.
Speaker 5 (29:03):
What's up? His way up?
Speaker 3 (29:04):
But Angela yee, I'm Angela yee. Travis here here advice
giving man. All right, well, Taylor, what's your question.
Speaker 9 (29:14):
I'm a transgender girl and I'm just starting out my transition,
but I also rap, and it's really hard to get
like any promotionary exposure going because all I know how
to do is make the music and like make the
beat or wrap over people's.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
Beat, trying to hear something?
Speaker 9 (29:32):
All right? All right? Who going to try people that?
It ain't no way for people like us who don't
handle place, who won't speak up without a mask and
a cake. You're trying to read up all of that
great further educate yourself. You speak on that, you say
you ain't bothered to be about that. I don't know.
It's hard at being trains are black, or when they
calling me Amanda, I'm.
Speaker 8 (29:54):
Sorry, I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
So I actually do music too, Like do you mind
if I have?
Speaker 8 (29:57):
Like?
Speaker 1 (29:58):
Yeah, so I can, like, you know, check you out.
Speaker 9 (30:00):
Well, I go by Big Unicorns. It's two g.
Speaker 3 (30:04):
I got to ask you, Taylor, so do you feel
like you've gotten support from people thus far? Or where
are you at right now with your career?
Speaker 9 (30:12):
I actually don't know how to step out and gain support.
I live in a small town in the middle of Pennsylvania.
I'm from Philly, but I live in Philly.
Speaker 4 (30:22):
A lot of people.
Speaker 1 (30:24):
Yeah, Avenue, are you from Norfolk? Twenty third and Diamonds.
Speaker 9 (30:28):
I just want to take you. I listen to you
every day. I appreciate everything you say and everything you.
Speaker 6 (30:33):
Do so well.
Speaker 5 (30:34):
Thank you, Thank you, Taylor.
Speaker 9 (30:35):
And the main No, just gave may no. He said,
don't block your shine, and then you're shine when you
walk into the room on that right. He said that
I called in. That's who made me call it. And
I'm like, may no speaking and then I called in.
Speaker 3 (30:47):
But I want to say, you said you're not good
at networking. You have to get good at it. Sometimes
that is a crutch, like you're not really doing what
you need to do and making excuses. Sometimes you're scared
to put yourself out there because of fair rejection. But
when it comes to the music game, there's always going
to be rejection.
Speaker 1 (31:02):
Also, just keep putting out music. Just consistently keep putting
out music.
Speaker 7 (31:05):
I'm gonna tell you something like maybe three years ago,
I only had like five hundred followers like on Instagram
and stuff, trying.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
To like put out music about music.
Speaker 7 (31:12):
But now like I just started consistently putting on music,
and then people just started listening, and like the numbers
started growing up.
Speaker 1 (31:17):
Yet you can't honestly don't pay attention to the numbers.
This consistently put on music.
Speaker 9 (31:21):
It's trying not to pay attention to the numbers. Because
they say your analytics helps to know where to target
your audience and I pay attention to itself. But then
again the negativity, you're gonna.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
Drive yourself crazy paying attention to numbers out.
Speaker 5 (31:33):
I think just keep on.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
You never know. All it take is one thing that
could change everything when it comes to your career. But
I agree with you be consistent, but I think you
have to get out there and you have to network.
A lot of us aren't good at that and don't
like it and are uncomfortable with it. But you have
to be willing to put yourself in uncomfortable situations.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
I see you, thank you so much, and put your
music on your period. I'm on your page.
Speaker 7 (31:55):
You gotta like you gotta put your paye together a
little bit more like you know, get your pays together
and make it a good actually want to come and
look at it, make it look like something.
Speaker 3 (32:03):
Curate that until you go on your YouTube, get your
YouTube clips going all of that.
Speaker 5 (32:06):
People need to be able to see what it is
that you do.
Speaker 3 (32:09):
If somebody wants to work with you but they can't
even find you, know, you make it difficult. You have
to make it easy for people to see your craft.
Speaker 9 (32:15):
Okay, Vice, thank y'all so much, Thank you telling all.
Speaker 3 (32:18):
Right, mama, all right, all right, well that was ask
ye eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty in
case you couldn't get through. And since Travis here today
and you're not here that often, come on now, you know,
and you just talked about a lot of what you
have going on when we come back, let's you know,
let's focus on trash.
Speaker 1 (32:33):
Good to me.
Speaker 5 (32:33):
All right, it's way up.
Speaker 6 (32:34):
We're about to do this. Yeah, y'all more way up
with Angela on now. You know what it is.
Speaker 5 (32:42):
Happy Monday is way up.
Speaker 3 (32:44):
I'm Angela. Yee manos here. You already heard that Monday
Ma innovation which inspired people are round.
Speaker 1 (32:49):
Come on now.
Speaker 5 (32:50):
But my guy Travis here too.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
I'm in a building now.
Speaker 5 (32:53):
Trav and I have a great history together.
Speaker 3 (32:55):
When I was on the Breakfast Club, he would call
in all the time, and then we actually met in person,
and then he's actually guest hosted here on lip Service.
I'm on the Breakfast Club too, and it's been up
ever since. And it's been up ever since. And you've
been doing music writing and also performing. Yes, all right,
so let's talk about Oh and in case you haven't
heard any of chap, here's a snippet from No More Love.
This was around Valentine's Day.
Speaker 4 (33:17):
Start going to my phone the problems.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
I'd rather be mod No.
Speaker 12 (33:25):
I don't love us so because I don't want to
feel no love. Because everybody's moving, so I don't even
need MO because I don't want to feel no joy.
Speaker 5 (33:38):
All right, Chad was going through it A definitely was
going through it around that time.
Speaker 4 (33:42):
But Horday can pain now.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
I'm back there now.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
I want to want some more love now, no fool,
So talk to us about what you have going on
for people who are listening and following your journey. Trap.
Speaker 7 (33:51):
Yes, I am dropping a project on July eighteenth, which
is my birthday.
Speaker 1 (33:55):
No shout out to me, shout out to.
Speaker 3 (33:57):
My girl Jamil.
Speaker 5 (33:58):
That's one of my best friend's birthday July eighteen.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
Oh, she said, cool already than her birthday is the
same as mine. Okay, but this project.
Speaker 7 (34:04):
Anytime I drop a project, I tell people I don't
ever want to be an artist, so I'm a songwriter.
So I dropped projects just as mainly reference tracks.
Speaker 5 (34:11):
So you want people to buy these tracks hopefully?
Speaker 7 (34:13):
Yeah, or just listen to them to say, like you know,
you listen to them, like literally you can hear certain
artists do certain songs that I write for, like but
like that one what's for Chris Brown? Honestly that when
I just put I No More Love, which I definitely
hear Breezy on, but I dropped them.
Speaker 1 (34:25):
As reference tracks.
Speaker 5 (34:26):
Have you placed anything yet.
Speaker 1 (34:28):
As far as like with the actual artists.
Speaker 7 (34:29):
Yeah, I don't want to say names, but I've always
had like a couple of like you know those they
like the track, Oh can you finish the verse?
Speaker 1 (34:39):
Oh can you do theod Oh we love? We really
like this track? Are we Gonna get back to you?
Speaker 7 (34:42):
And then it's been three three like top female artists
I have, that's kind of still waiting.
Speaker 4 (34:47):
On the right.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
It's grind too, and the waiting game is tough.
Speaker 7 (34:50):
Kind of annoying, be honest, it's actually like kind of
annoying because it's been like a year now.
Speaker 11 (34:54):
But.
Speaker 5 (34:56):
Still for sale. So if they don't sign that contract,
let them know.
Speaker 1 (35:00):
People those things where you also can't pass out too many.
Speaker 5 (35:02):
Reference tracks, Okay, it's a balance.
Speaker 7 (35:05):
In the industry because then you know you're on with
the females, like being like, oh I heard that first,
so she bought that.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
Or she didn't write that.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
What do you guys think about writing tracks for other people?
Because I feel like in hip hop it gets a
bad rap, but it happens.
Speaker 7 (35:18):
I think Nicki Minaj has made it become a bad
rep because she has made it so much of all.
Speaker 1 (35:23):
Right, I right, all right, I use my pen, I
use my pen.
Speaker 11 (35:25):
But but hip hop started that way. It was all
about you writing your own lyrics.
Speaker 7 (35:29):
But I do feel like there's so many talented, creative
songwriters out there who don't want to be famous that
can give concepts and ideas of songs that these other
artists may not be able to think of themselves. So
it's like works handed handed, Like why not reach down
and help the person out that doesn't want to be
the artist but wants to be the songwriter and has
dope songs.
Speaker 4 (35:48):
I think that's cool.
Speaker 11 (35:49):
Concepts, hooks, ideas, flow verse though verse you need to
do yourself, That's what I'm saying, versus you need to
do yourself. When you start writing somebody else's verse, then
it get a little shaky.
Speaker 7 (35:59):
But I do write though, but I mainly did on
right hoods.
Speaker 1 (36:03):
I'm like super good.
Speaker 11 (36:04):
Writing writing versus that's supposed to be you.
Speaker 7 (36:07):
So any labels listening, if you have a fee male
artist who is popping already, I promise you I have
hits that I'm trying to give one one away right
now to a popular artist.
Speaker 1 (36:18):
Take it and to see what they do.
Speaker 3 (36:20):
And the songs are good, you guys, so make sure
y'all hit them of aka score twin on Instagram. And
you know what, let's hear some weekend the hills and
when we come back, you guys, we have the last word.
Speaker 7 (36:32):
Take up the phone tapping and gets your voice heard.
Speaker 6 (36:36):
What the word is the last word? On Way Up
with Angela? Ye, what's up?
Speaker 5 (36:41):
Its way up at Angela Yee? What a Monday?
Speaker 3 (36:43):
Back to work? You know we had off last week.
