They used to call us Thelma and Louise. Really happy
we were growing up. Happy birthday, Jamil. The reason they
called us that is because we've had a ton of
car accidents together, you know, when you first started driving,
(01:55):
because we knew each other before that. Then we both
got our license, and then she would get in an
accident and I would you know, thank.

All right, thank you, thank you. All right, Well that
was shina light. And when we come back, we have
your yet.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
And when we come back, let's talk about Bobby Schmurder
versus Rick Ross. Now Rick Ross seemingly is responding allegedly
to what bobbys Murder has to say about him in
an Instagram live when he got him removed from a show.
Speaker 5 (03:09):
All right, it's way up. We got that et net
they says south in the rooms.
Speaker 6 (03:14):
From industry shade to all of gous out said man
Angela's speeling that EyeT, what's up this way?
Speaker 3 (03:21):
Put Angela yee, I'm here, my guy Mana is here.
Let's get right into it. So let's just refresh on
what happened with Bobby Schmurder and Rick Ross. Now, Bobby's
Murder is accusing Rick Ross of getting him kicked off
of a show he was on the line up.
Speaker 5 (03:35):
Here's what he said, bro, Like, I.
Speaker 8 (03:37):
Really so like why you ain't quote me?
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Big hold?
Speaker 8 (03:40):
Why I got to get the quote from talking about Yo,
Rick Ross kicked Dwarfs the show we we work with.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
I got the coote from Barbados.
Speaker 8 (03:47):
They're like, Yo, you know, we do a lot of
business with Rick Ross and we don't think Bobby's good
for the show and this and the like. Come on, bro, bro,
I don't no defaulu independent.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
First of all, I'm before a higher powers in the industy.
You're already I already know who I talked to. I
already got I say.
Speaker 8 (04:03):
But my whole thing is though, why like they like
yo MMG called and said, yo, we don't want Bobby Murder.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
On the show.
Speaker 8 (04:10):
Bro, I'm thirty years old.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Bro, why we gotta quote?
Speaker 8 (04:12):
We could have quoted big hold.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
Now, Rick Ross, you know, apparently, according to Bobby's murder,
probably had some issues with him because he made a
video where he was laughing at the whole incident.
Speaker 5 (04:23):
Incident right that happened with MMG and.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
Some guys in Canada. In Canada.
Speaker 5 (04:30):
We don't know who sent them or what really went.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
Down, but you know, very badly. That's crazy.
Speaker 5 (04:35):
Yeah, it wasn't a good situation.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
Well, now, Rick Ross and his stories had this to say.
Speaker 8 (04:42):
Ladies and gentlemen, whenever you see someone confused by talking,
now I sense say shut up and enjoy your glass
of Luke Belair.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
So a lot of people are speculating that he's taking
some shots back at Bobby's murder because you know.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
I mean, it's kind of vague though.
Speaker 5 (05:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
One thing about Rick Ross, though, is that he will
go on and on and on and on and post
you in his stories a billion times while promoting his products.
All right, and let's talk about Chanel West Coast. You know,
congratulations to her, by the way, she did have a baby,
but she also has a news show. She left ridiculousness.
Do you know that she was on there for thirty seasons?
(05:25):
Thirty seasons, thirty seasons years. Well, I guess it's not
a season a year, you know, but yeah, thirty seasons.
And so she first announced that she was leaving back
in March of last year to focus on new creative projects.
While she has an MTV reality show. It's called The
West Coast Hustle and here is the trailer for that.
Speaker 5 (05:46):
People mostly know me from ridiculousness, breaking news. You're leaving
kind of tough decision for you to make mas the
not so ridiculous side of Shanella's coast by day, I'm mom,
fine night. I'm an artist, not a family I'm down
here trying to move. But I'm also an amazing girlfriend.
(06:06):
Oh ye, scoopy, she balanced glam life. I'm running on
three hours of sleep with family life. This is becoming
a lot of work. I am on the verge of
a panic attack.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
It's really really we have time to nap today, not really.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
All right, So that'd be cute to get to see
her daughter. And when we come back, we have about
last night. That's when we discussed what we did last night.
Me and Mano, it's way up.
Speaker 6 (06:31):
So about last night he went down?
Speaker 5 (06:38):
What's up his way up at Angela.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
Yeah, I'm here, my guy, Mano is here, way up,
way up, and it is time for about last night?
Speaker 5 (06:45):
Now, Mano? Yeah, what did you do last night?
Speaker 9 (06:48):
You know, I've been trying to get my money back
from Banking of America, so that's been a fight. So
I was so angry. I was stressed. So I was like,
you know what, it's a nice night. Let's pull out
the call horses, jump on them, call my dogs up,
let's go for a ride.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
And we rode off the bikes. You know, had some fun.
Speaker 5 (07:03):
Where do you go to do that? Is it in Jersey?
Is it in the city?
Speaker 9 (07:06):
N Yeah, we ride around New York City Baby, Brooklyn
Hall and Queens.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
Is it scary because I feel like New York is
a scary place to be on bikes.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Why No, this is a real big motorcycles.
Speaker 5 (07:17):
That's what I'm saying. Because they drive crazy out here.
Speaker 9 (07:20):
I mean when it's a pack of people, it's easier
because it's like the cars are going to get out
your way, They're gonna stand down. Because it's forty guys
on bikes. You know, and we kind of like block
the traffic off.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
Make sure everybody say.
Speaker 5 (07:33):
Okay, yeah, it's a thing that's nice.
Speaker 9 (07:34):
That by yourself, it's not fun right yourself. When you're
riding with a pack of people, it's fun.
Speaker 5 (07:43):
Well, you know what I was doing yesterday.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
I think it's time for me to get it together
for this book. And so I have a space in
my house that I'm like dedicating to be able to
work on that.
Speaker 5 (07:55):
So I actually was clearing out that space.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
You know, I had my stage and everything to get
it to get it right, to get it together. I
think I'm a paint one of the walls and do
like an accent wall in that room. I'm just trying
to set this up perfect for it to be like
my zen area, my zen space.
Speaker 5 (08:09):
A lot of times you need like a.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
Certain need of space.
Speaker 5 (08:12):
Please.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
I was reading this article about how clutter affects you
in your house like incredibly, and especially the entry way.
Speaker 5 (08:18):
When you first come into the house.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Right close it up.
Speaker 5 (08:21):
It is you got to take care of that.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
It is because you know, you feel better when your
house is clean.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
And you feel better, you sleep better, you think better,
Like it's really sometimes it could be so stressful. When
you see like too much stuff everywhere, it kind of
is a reflection of what's going on in your life.
So when you feel like that you can control, like
inside your house and decluttering and getting rid of things
and making it feel clean and fresh and new, it
helps you in your life. I believe, yeah, think so much.
(08:46):
All right, well that is about last night. Now when
we come back, we have tell us a secret, and
so you can remove that clutter from your brain right
now and call us up. Eight hundred two nine shoot
fifty one fifty. Call us up and tell us a secret.
That's why I get rid of that letter that's been
blocking you.
Speaker 5 (09:02):
We're here to help.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
We're not hearing to judge. Eight hundred and two nine
two fifty one fifty is way up, Yo.
Speaker 5 (09:09):
This is a judgment free zone.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Tell us a secret.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (09:15):
His way up with ANGELA? Yeah, I'm here, mayno's here? No,
tell us a secret. Eight hundred two ninety two fifty
one fifty Hello anonymous, call it what's your secret?
Speaker 5 (09:25):
No judgment?
Speaker 10 (09:26):
My secret is before me and my boyfriend got together,
he had met with his best friend's sister, and when
we were together and we had a little argument and
he splid.
Speaker 4 (09:37):
Back in her dem So I three shot it and
sent it to her brother.
Speaker 10 (09:41):
Now her brother's not at him, but he don't know
why he's not on home. I don't want to tell
him what I did because we made up.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
Wow, he's gonna eventually have to tell him. Wonder why
his best friend didn't tell him? Like you myself, he
looks like.
Speaker 10 (09:53):
Being ignoring him, Like he has not mentioned anything than
called people who have been around him, nothing like you
can tell he Now, have you Fat White's mom?
Speaker 5 (10:02):
Are you still with him?
Speaker 10 (10:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (10:03):
We made see see you made up anyway.
Speaker 3 (10:09):
I'm still with him anyway. All right, Well, thank you
for calling. Good luck in your relationship. Anonymous calling, what's
your secret?
Speaker 11 (10:16):
My secret is I've been working as an employer, but
I told my wife that I own my own business,
So now I got to give my own business because
my phones is getting tight.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
So basically you a catfish? Yeah, really you are.
Speaker 11 (10:32):
The thing is my business is not big enough to grow.
I'm only one person, so the help that I need
is not there. But I have to present myself as
another guy saying that I got a job to do,
which is a job. But the job that I get
doesn't pay like a contract.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
It feels like you're making excuses for not being honest.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
I am honest because I.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
Think your wife would be. She wouldn't be so supportive
of you, no matter what.
Speaker 11 (11:02):
She's not though. Any project that I have that's not employee,
that's trying to be part of my painting service, there's
no type of support. No, that's just a regular job.
You ain't making enough money, so it's like I'm never
making enough money.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
Yeah, it's never well, this feels like it's going to
be a cycle. If it's never enough, we'll get your
new wife.
Speaker 12 (11:25):
There he and may.
Speaker 11 (11:26):
No, I need to know where should I start to
start my own business.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
You already have a business there, you have an LLC.
Speaker 5 (11:34):
You just want to take it to the next level.
Speaker 11 (11:37):
Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
I think references are always a great thing. You got
to make sure people know you have these services available.
Start within your circle and make sure you do great work,
and then eventually you have to expand and hire other people.
Speaker 11 (11:49):
Okay, before I can hire I need that job.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Okay, I'm fine with that. It's your wife that has issue.
These are all choices that you make in your relationship,
and you can either tell her the truth, come clean
and let her know I'm trying to get my business
going and I'm running low on funds. Or you can
continue the way that you are doing. This is where
you're being deceptive and giving her all your money but
not handling your.
Speaker 5 (12:13):
Business for yourself. But you have to make that decision.
Speaker 11 (12:16):
Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
But listen, we gotta go. But thank you so much
for sharing with us. And now you gotta let you
your wife. No, that's what marriage is about, being honest.
All right, Well, that was tell us a secret. And
when we come back, we have your yee tea and
let's talk about j Lo now. According to reports, she
was quote unquote drama all the time, leading to this
tension in her marriage with Ben Affleck. Will tell you
(12:38):
what sources are saying.
Speaker 5 (12:39):
It's way up, yo, she's about to blow the lead.
Abouf this butt.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
Let's get it.
Speaker 6 (12:44):
Angela's filling that yee te Come and get your tea.
Speaker 5 (12:47):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (12:48):
His way up at Angela? Yee I'm here, Maino's here,
No man, ye all right, shout out to Roy Wood Junior.
Hulu announced earlier this week that he's going to be
taping his first comedy special for them. He also did
three comedy specials on Comedy Central and Perfect Messenger and
No One Loves You and Father Figure. So they'll let
us know what the title and launch date would be
(13:09):
later on down the road. But I think Rorywood Junior
is so funny. I thought he was going to end
up being the new host for The Daily Show when
Trevor Noah left. But you know, still amazing and I'm
definitely on board to watch his Hulu special. All right, now,
let's talk about Brandon from Jagged Edge. I don't know
if you saw this, but he got in a really
bad car accident.
Speaker 5 (13:31):
It looked awful.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
Man, When I tell you, it is a blessing that
he was able to survive that accident. But he did
reveal that he had a broken neck, five broken ribs,
and a skull fracture. You know how crazy that is.
He was in ICU following that accident. Now, he did
think the hospital, Grady Hospital. He was in ICU for
five days, and he said that he was at the
(13:53):
hospital there trauma center is the best in the country,
and that they saved his life and he's forever greatful.
And he said that he has a bunch of pain
all over his body in addition to his skull fracture,
scalp lacerations, the broken ribs, all of that. But he
said God got me, and then he posted the picture
of his car that was severely crushed.
Speaker 5 (14:13):
That is like your life lashes.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
You're very lucky to get out.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
Of something like that and to be in the right hospital.
Being in the right hospital is everything, okay. And Ryan
Garcia has just been hit with a misdemeanor vandalism charge.
That's because remember he was in la at that hotel.
They said he had a meltdown. What prosecutors are saying
he could be facing up to one year in jail.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
I don't know what's up with this dude. Man.
Speaker 9 (14:36):
I don't feel like ever since the Javanci fight, he
ain't been the same.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
Well, this was at the Waldorf in Beverly Hills, where
by the way, they have a beautiful rooftop.
Speaker 5 (14:44):
But there's a video from the scene.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
You can see officers were taking him away in handcuffs.
So he has to be before a judge on August seven,
So we'll see what happens, all right, And that is
your yet when we come back, we have under the radar.
These are the stories that are not necessarily in the headlines.
They are flying under the radar. It's way up the
news news.
Speaker 6 (15:06):
This in the news that relates to you. These stories
are flying under the radar.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
What's up his way up at Angela Yee on a Friday,
I'm here, rod GERMAINO.
Speaker 5 (15:16):
All right, let's get into some under their radar stories.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
Now, people across the nation have been losing their jobs
after they posted about this Trump shooting, this assassination attempt.
All right, So first we heard about Tenacious D bandmate
Kyle Gas. He had complained on social media that he
was upset that the shooter had missed. A lot of
people said that, but really yeah, but Jack Black, who
was the other member of the group, said he was
(15:38):
blindsided and announced that he was ending the rest of
the tour and wouldn't work with him in the future.
Speaker 5 (15:43):
Again, yeah, all because of those comments.
Speaker 3 (15:47):
So while a lot of people's comments are spreading, some
people have lost their jobs. An instructor and Louisville, Kentucky
was put on unpaid leave over what they said was
an offensive and unacceptable social media post, and now he
is no longer employed there. It was comments about the
shooter missing, and it was screenshoted and posted by a
conservative social media account on TikTok. So I guess they
(16:09):
were trying to get him fired. So people that were
I guess making jokes and saying things about they shouldn't
have missed.
Speaker 5 (16:15):
Some people got fired. Another person who.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
Worked at a southern kitchen and bar with their locations
in several different states.
Speaker 5 (16:22):
That person got fired.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
They said the worker was no longer employed there because
they violated the social media policy.
Speaker 5 (16:29):
So a lot of different people have randomly been losing
their job.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
But that's why I always say, you have to be
careful what you post on social media.
Speaker 5 (16:35):
And let's take it to Texas.
Speaker 3 (16:37):
Now, the Supreme Court has granted a man a state
of execution twenty minutes before he was about to get
a lethal injection.
Speaker 5 (16:44):
This happened on Tuesday evening count Yes, he had.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Long said that he was not responsible for the fatal
stabbing of an eighty five year old woman during a
home robbery decades ago. He said that DNA testing would
he approve that. Now they are going to review his
your request, So, yeah, we don't know, but I guess
they're going to give him the opportunity. That's why the
you know, the death sentence is really tough because they
(17:09):
are wrong sometimes and there's no going back after that.
All right, Well that is you're under the radar now
when we come back, you know, it is a Friday,
and we got m Night Shyamalan joining us alongside his
daughter Selika Shamalan. Also, we got the Way Up mix
at the top of the hour. I think we need
a shot.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
Let's do it.
Speaker 5 (17:26):
It's way up, Let's do it. She's like to talk
like the angel Jez, like they Angela Jeez.
Speaker 6 (17:33):
And she's spilling it all this is yeaky way up.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
What's up his way up at Angela? Yeah, I'm here,
Mano's here. All right, Well let's get into some yeat.
And we were actually doing this in real time yesterday
after the show, but Cardi b was on spaces on
Twitter spaces and I was like, oh, Cartie's on spaces,
let me see what she's talking about. Little did I
know she's mad at Joe Button right now. Joe Button
(18:01):
said this on his podcast, never get another.
Speaker 13 (18:04):
Cardi album again. That's gonna be crazy. But that's what
Carter is about to be now, just a single artist.
You're not getting none of that. I'm sure somebody involved
wants Cardi to put out an album, of course to do.
I'm sure all said want Carter put out an album. Hey,
fellas out there, boyfriends, y'all know that feeling, right when
you want you to get a job, you and the
ounce won't leave. She's just in there on top of you.
Speaker 5 (18:26):
Now you were saying the first part wasn't that bad,
but then it went.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
Left right right. I thought it was cool up into
the other.
Speaker 9 (18:32):
Stuff, right, like get a job, going to it, Yeah,
because like it's cool have opinion about somebody when when
you start talking about their personal.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
Right, you know, because then it starts to seem personal.
Speaker 3 (18:42):
I also think that people don't know what they're talking about,
Like people have always speculated about different things that even
go on in this building.
Speaker 5 (18:51):
It could be so wrong, you know.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
And I think it also bothered her, Like they said
somebody from Atlantic told them X, Y and Z, and
she's been working on her album.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
Right that it hasn't come. How long has it been?
About six or seven years?
Speaker 3 (19:05):
And I'm sure that she looks she's had a couple
of kids, you know, she's got a lot going on she.
Speaker 5 (19:11):
Put music out right right right, but she definitely went on.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
Her spaces and said it feels like he's got something
personal against her. And then he went on Twitter and
said that he will never report on this person again.
So I assume because this was all happening around the
same time. When he said that person, he was referring
to Cardi B. And you know, as usual, that ended
up trending and he was in there listening to in
(19:35):
the spaces while this was happening.
Speaker 5 (19:36):
I saw him in the spaces.
Speaker 3 (19:38):
Yeah, So there you have it, all right, And here's
some good news.
Speaker 5 (19:42):
Rihanna.
Speaker 3 (19:43):
She posted tried to tell y'all we outside all twenty
twenty four, proud to announce that fenty Beauty is a
premium partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Baby fenty Paris,
twenty twenty four. Congratulations. Let me tell you. If anybody
knows how to get some money, it's Rihanna. Rihanna, Rihanna.
Speaker 5 (20:03):
She could not do.
Speaker 3 (20:04):
How long has it been since she put out an
album exactly?
Speaker 5 (20:07):
So maybe it's not important right all right?
Speaker 3 (20:10):
Now, podcaster Bobby Altoff has shut down rumors that she
has sexual relationships with the people that she interviews. Somebody posted,
damn get divorced, choosing fame over your now ex husband
just to get passed around by different guys weekly. Sheez,
that is a really harsh thing to say. Well, she responded,
I guess she was fed up and said, I never
respond to this comment that I've been getting a million
(20:32):
times a day for the last year, but I am
really sick of seeing it. Anyone who says stuff like
this is so effing ignorant. You don't know why my
marriage ended. That we are both so much happier apart
than we ever were together, that now our kids get
to see two happy parents instead of zero. I have
never slept with someone I interviewed. I don't sleep around,
and I rarely ever go out. But you guys can't
effing believe that a woman can be around men without
(20:54):
sleeping with them. It's so frustrating. And then she told
them to shut the f up, Bobby, I feel your pain.
Gonna lie for me. I definitely have had people say
that about me too, Absolutely that I sleep with everybody
me too. They kind of will in your case, Yeah,
but it I had people say that I'm sleeping with you.
(21:14):
I'm sure you've heard and that definitely has never happened.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
Very stupid.
Speaker 5 (21:18):
Yeah, but that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
So that's why I say I feel it because people
have definitely said that. And I think as a woman
in this industry, we act like it's normal that people
will just say things about you.
Speaker 5 (21:27):
But when people just make up stuff, yeah they do
for sure.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
All right, well that is your yet and when we
come back, we have asked ye eight hundred and two
nine two fifty one fifty is a number? Carl us
up any question you have. I'm here with the award
winning advice winning and we want to help you out.
Speaker 5 (21:43):
It's way up.
Speaker 6 (21:46):
With it's relationship for career advice. Angela's dropping facts, shoul.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
This is aske what's up his way? But Angela yee,
I'm Angela yee and the award winning advice giver Mano
is here.
Speaker 5 (21:57):
No got Brittany on the line. What's that Brittany?
Speaker 13 (22:00):
Hi?
Speaker 4 (22:00):
I just have a question. Okay, how do you go
about dealing with the man that has a bitter baby
mom but using her kids.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
Is tone man and it feels like he has to
deal with that more than you do.
Speaker 5 (22:12):
And how long have you been with this man?
Speaker 4 (22:14):
Were sitting together about a year. And the only reason
why I ask her is because every problem that she
present starts with me.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
Yeah, cause she's she's definitely jealous with him.
Speaker 4 (22:25):
I mean, I don't know. I do want to be
with him, as far as her, I have no ideas.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
All right, So give me an example of how this
is your fault the way that she's framing it.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
For example, Oh, you can start time with her, but
you can't start time with your kids.
Speaker 12 (22:38):
What now?
Speaker 4 (22:39):
In the instance, I wouldn't want to be at her
house because I couldn't deal with my kids because she
had come in to the women started nagging, or she
had come in women and started arguing if that makes six?
So he had stay away.
Speaker 5 (22:50):
How come they can't take the kids with him? Why
does he have to go to her house because it's
a control thing. Yeah, well I don't see them here.
Speaker 4 (22:57):
You can't take them nowhere. You gotta be here in
my house under this root.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
Well, he needs to maybe do something that's a little
more formal. And I know a lot of people don't
like to have to establish stuff with a third party,
but maybe it's some mediation that's necessary to show that
you know he's serious, he means business, and everything doesn't
have to be on her terms.
Speaker 4 (23:15):
I mean, she says jump, he says how hot.
Speaker 3 (23:18):
So that's gonna be something he has to deal with.
And I understand you don't want to ruffle feathers because
you don't want the baby mom to get mad. And
he's probably thinking, like, I want to make sure I
can see my kids. I don't want to have no issues,
no drama either way.
Speaker 4 (23:30):
Is like, if he goes to see them and he's
doing what he's supposed to, it's the issues in drama because.
Speaker 13 (23:35):
It may she's never.
Speaker 5 (23:38):
Yeah, she's never going to be happy.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
He's going to have to take control of the situation.
And what that means is that if he's concerned about
being able to see his kids and concerned about her
dictating everything, then that might mean that they're going to
have to establish a visitation for him, and that might
mean that he's going to have to go through a
third party and also pay child support, which is not
(24:00):
the worst thing in the world, but now, at least
you have things on a schedule and set up so
that if she does something wrong, that's on her but
now he can.
Speaker 5 (24:08):
Have some control.
Speaker 10 (24:09):
Okay, okay, you.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
Know, and I just think that that's important, and you know,
maybe eventually things will get better because I know a
lot of times a year is still kind of fresh
for her and maybe you know, she still she need
to get her a man and when she when she
can move on in life.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
Once you hook her up with one of your god friends.
Speaker 4 (24:28):
I mean, I don't think no one is gonna want
to deal with it.
Speaker 3 (24:31):
There you go, but you know, it's hard in a
situation like this, And the only thing I can say
is if they can't handle it between themselves, then it
might be time for it to be something that is
handled legally because it's probably only going to get worse
unless you know, she miraculously changes.
Speaker 4 (24:51):
So a girlfriend perspective block keep ignoring it.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
I mean much for you to do. I mean, is
he good to you?
Speaker 10 (24:57):
All right?
Speaker 11 (24:57):
So?
Speaker 3 (24:58):
And I think you have to be supportive to him,
but also, you know, give him some support as far
as like, here's what you can do, and maybe it's
you directing him to somebody that deals with this professionally,
because you can only do what you can do, and
you can only be as supportive as you can. But
I also understand this woman is trying to ruffle your
feathers and disturb your peace and your relationship.
Speaker 5 (25:20):
You can't let that happen. Yeah, yeah, okay, yeah, I
liked it.
Speaker 4 (25:24):
I liked it.
Speaker 5 (25:25):
All right. Well, good luck, Britt, thank you, You're welcome.
Speaker 4 (25:28):
All right.
Speaker 3 (25:28):
Well that was ask Yee eight hundred two ninety two
fifty one fifty. If you can't get through you hear
that call, you can always leave a message, all right.
And when we come back, M Night Shyamalan is going
to be joining us. He has a new movie coming
out starring his daughter who's also here, Selika Shamalan, and
the movie is called Trap and it's coming out August. Second,
we have more about that when we come back.
Speaker 5 (25:48):
It's way up.
Speaker 6 (25:50):
You vib it way up with Angela Yee more now what's.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
Up his way up at Angela Yee. And this is
so exciting for me. We have two special guests here today.
We have m Night Shyamalan and Silika in the building
and we're getting ready to talk about the movie Trap.
But first, Selika, congratulations to you for everything that you've
been doing going on tour.
Speaker 5 (26:10):
We're giving on and.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
The music and putting out an EP and now you
have fourteen songs that are about to come out August
second with this movie.
Speaker 5 (26:18):
Yes, So how do you feel. I'm very excited.
Speaker 12 (26:21):
I'm like, I just you know, I just finished the
album a couple of days ago, and I'm I'm super
in love with it, and I'm nervous and you know, anxious,
but just really grateful and excited. And I loved writing
these songs.
Speaker 5 (26:33):
It was so fun, all right.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
And I know you must be proud as a dad
to see what your daughter has accomplished.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
Yeah. Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
I mean in our house is kind of a little
different in that way. It's kind of, you know, it's
always grown up in the arts. That's the culture in
there and the conversations about the arts. So it isn't
really about any kind of destination or accomplishment in and
of itself, but that relationship to the particular from if
you're a painter or a musician.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
Or a poet or whatever, it.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
Is that if you choose that that it's it's your
integrity to the art form is the thing that hopefully
they've been inculcated with since they've been for rather than
validation from being seen or money or fame or any
of those things which are that's nothing to do with it.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
Listen to be honest, seeing how you've come up and
the things that you've done, just the path that you've
been on to get to where you are.
Speaker 5 (27:22):
Because both of your parents.
Speaker 3 (27:23):
Were doctors, right, correct, So this is a completely different path. Yes,
you know that for you to have done that, so
that actually allowed for your children to decide what they
want to do and be creative, because I know it's
hard when your parents have like a path and an
idea for you that they want you to proceed on.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
Yeah, I mean, you know, they came if you imagine,
you know, their first generation immigrants that came, and they
they were the first of their families to leave India
and come here. And they were both the first doctors
in the family. And they came here and they went
to a country, you know, in the sixties where it
was just a different world back then, and they were
first of everything. My mom was the first female doctor
(28:00):
in the area, blah blahah, all of those things, and
that's huge.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
Yeah, So there was a lot of courage.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
That they had and then the work ethic that was
involved with being doctors, of course, but there was a
belief system in something prescribed for you. And following that,
I took two of those three things, which was the
risk taking.
Speaker 2 (28:17):
And the work ethic, and then applied it to the arts.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
And of course, when your son says, hey, I want
to go into filmmaking to two immigrant Indians that came,
that's seen as as you understand it as folly, right,
that's not real.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
You're going to become.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
You're going to become the Indian filmmaker that you you
were the one, really and so it sounds ridiculous, right,
And so all I could do was say, hey, I
have a feeling about the relationship to the art that
feels special and I don't know how to do it yet,
but I want to pursue that. So this is you know,
when I'm seventeen or sixteen, and I got very lucky.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
And I got through that.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
But conveying that now to this generation of the work
ethic and the importance of the of the the relationship
to the art is the primary thing, because that will
whatever comes from that, if it's if it's not, honestly,
is the correct thing. So whether you have a little
bit that comes from it or a lot that comes
from it, it's the correct thing. Don't take the lot.
(29:16):
If it's going to compromise your relationship, your own integrity,
you'll hate yourself for it.
Speaker 3 (29:21):
Right now, I'm talking to m Night Shyamalan and Silica Shamalan.
They have their new movie Trap coming out August. Second,
let's talk about the movie Chap because this sounds like
an exciting one for all age groups. You know, horror
movie is also my favorite genre, and so I know
you guys grew up in a household where you would
watch horror movies together. What was your favorite horror movie
coming up?
Speaker 12 (29:42):
Oh, I mean Sounds of the Lambs when I was
a little older. When I was younger, I loved Poltergeist.
Speaker 5 (29:47):
Okay, me too.
Speaker 12 (29:48):
That was like my childhood favorite movie. And then this
movie called Audrey Rose, which is now that I look
back on, it just like so traumatizing and scary and terrible.
Speaker 5 (29:56):
But I love that movie. I don't know that.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
I think for me the Exorcist, I couldn't sleep. Yeah,
when I saw that movie, I had to leave the
light on. And I was the only person in my
house that liked to watch our movies and I would
literally like watch it, but I would cover my eyes
and my ears when things were happening that were too
scary for me. And then so sometimes it felt like
I never saw the movie at all because I missed
all the like you know, what happened at those points.
(30:18):
But some of them you look back and you're like,
I can't believe I was.
Speaker 5 (30:21):
Scared during this, you know?
Speaker 11 (30:23):
For me?
Speaker 2 (30:23):
Is my favorite? Is it? Really?
Speaker 5 (30:25):
Okay?
Speaker 3 (30:25):
I read the book too, too, and the book is
so graphic. Also there's certain things in there, and I
know you like to also adapt, you know, books into
two film also.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
Ye sometimes yeah, sometimes yeah, But I have to.
Speaker 1 (30:38):
Say, you know, my true true love and life is
just coming up with an idea and following it in
this color that I haven't heard before, like Trap. You know,
it's a combination of many things, but you haven't felt
this before, and I haven't felt and that draws me,
you know, it interests me.
Speaker 3 (30:54):
All Right, m Nice Shyamalan and Selika Shamalan are here.
We'll be talking about the movie Trap that's come out
August second.
Speaker 5 (31:00):
I'm so excited about it.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
But let's never forget the sixth sense, which he did,
is the number two highest grossing horror film.
Speaker 5 (31:07):
Of all time.
Speaker 2 (31:08):
I See Dead People.
Speaker 5 (31:10):
We all know that line. It's way up, Yeah, turn
me up.
Speaker 6 (31:14):
Here we go upgain, This is way up with Angela yee.
Speaker 5 (31:17):
What's up? Its way up?
Speaker 3 (31:18):
But Angela yee. I'm Angela Yee. And this is an
exciting day for me. We have producer, director, writer, father,
husband m Night Shyamalan in the building with us, alongside
Selika Shamalan, his daughter, who is starring in the movie
Trap and Release and Save Me.
Speaker 5 (31:33):
Those are the two songs that have been put out
so far.
Speaker 3 (31:36):
And it sounds so good when you see the trailer too,
like putting the music with the trailer and feeling like
the tone of that. So when you wrote the soundtrack, right,
was it? You wrote that first and then like, how
does that work in alignment with what's happening.
Speaker 5 (31:51):
As far as the.
Speaker 12 (31:51):
Script I wrote to the scripture, I wrote the script first,
and then I wrote all the songs. Some of them
kind of overlocked with while we were already in preproduct
and shooting, but it was all you know, once the
script is written, it had to be, you know, very
specific to the scenes. And the way he writes is
very you know, everything is detailed and thought out, and
(32:12):
the images there, there's kind of not really like questions there.
Everything is storyboarded, Everything is thought out, and so the scenes,
I knew exactly how many songs and what scenes they
were over, and what's happening during those scenes, and so
kind of orchestrating and producing the songs to fit what
those were.
Speaker 5 (32:26):
What is the first content you guys had been to together?
Speaker 2 (32:29):
WHOA, What was the first one, because.
Speaker 12 (32:31):
Its a big, big one in my mind is Beyonce
when I was ten. I don't know if I don't
that's like core memory. I don't know if that was
the first show I ever saw. We saw a lot
of classical, classical music, you know, my teachers performing.
Speaker 5 (32:50):
I think that was maybe like the first time high
by right highest.
Speaker 12 (32:54):
Just wait, you're ten, and then we're going to take
it to the greatest.
Speaker 2 (32:59):
We went.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
I think we went backstage to meet her, right yeah,
what yeah.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
This is when it really comes in handy to have
your dad. Yeah, come on, let's go say how to Beyonce?
Speaker 5 (33:07):
It I think I was like actually shaking.
Speaker 4 (33:10):
She just was so beautiful and tall.
Speaker 3 (33:13):
Well, I'm excited to see this because from the trailer.
I can see that it's visually going to be beautiful,
but it's also something I feel like that is relatable
and will maybe make us all scared to go to
a concert.
Speaker 5 (33:22):
Again after this because the whole premise of it.
Speaker 3 (33:26):
But I know there's going to be a twist, So
that's what I'm excited to see. Because I saw people
were like, oh, he gave away you know everything, and
I can't remember. You can't so long since I don't
remember what happened, and I do want to say that
right now, it feels like we're living in a movie. Yeah,
And I always feel like real life is like it's
sairer than any movie.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
Yeah, I keep saying we our culture has become high school.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
We is moarmre.
Speaker 13 (33:52):
You know.
Speaker 1 (33:52):
I think just being famous is like being in high
school forever, but then now everything is turning into high school.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
It's like the.
Speaker 1 (33:59):
Outrageous thing is that the kids that did outrageous things
and got talked about in high school that's.
Speaker 5 (34:03):
Now, Yeah, except it's like.
Speaker 10 (34:06):
Doing it.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
Do you get inspired by seeing even though like there's
some crazy things happening, you know, we're coming off of
like an assassination attempt on the President and all these
you know, madness things. Does that ever make you feel
like this is a movie right here? Like how can
we turn this into?
Speaker 2 (34:23):
Yeah? It does, you know, affect the thoughts.
Speaker 1 (34:25):
I do feel comfortable going to very dark material like
in Trap, because I feel very optimistic about humanity and life.
That's just who I'm so I feel safe to take
you like you can even though I'm taking you to
a dark place. You know that the person taking you
on the journey it has a different point of view
about life that I do feel optimistic about things. And
(34:47):
even though as you'll see, you know when you watch Trap,
you know it has both sides to it, And I
think art really resonates when you get that balance right
of how weird we all are human beings. We have
both things in us at all times. We have the
very worst and the very best always there. And when
we feel that, like when I play the mom that's
(35:10):
loving but she's also selfish and you know that, then
then it rings true. You have to find the dark balance.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
All right.
Speaker 3 (35:18):
Make sure y'all see Chap August second. It's out in
the soundtrack as well. Yes you can watch that phot
and if you're my YouTube channel Way Up with Ye.
Speaker 5 (35:25):
And when we come back, you guys have the last word.
Speaker 6 (35:27):
Take up the phone, gets your voice heard.
Speaker 5 (35:31):
What the word is is the last word on Way
Up with Angela?
Speaker 3 (35:35):
Yee?
Speaker 5 (35:36):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (35:36):
His Way Up at Angela Yee? I'm here, manos here.
Do you know what time it is? It is time
for us to tell everybody listening our family to have
a great weekend. The Way Up Gang, as you call us,
it's like the get along gang.
Speaker 5 (35:50):
We need like some some like furry care bever types.
What is we hearts on it? It's your Way Up gang.
It's a good gang, a black.
Speaker 2 (36:02):
Skull skeleton gloves on.
Speaker 3 (36:04):
That sounds very m nice Shymalan, But thank you to
m Night Shyamalan for joining us, and also Selika Shamalan.
That is his daughter who's starring in the movie Strap
that's coming out August.
Speaker 5 (36:14):
Second.
Speaker 3 (36:14):
You watch that full interview on my YouTube channel, Way
Up with Ye. So exciting and of course you guys
be safe. I'll be in Detroit this weekend. Come see
me Saturday. Okay, I'll be at Cambria. We're having a nice, fun,
free party on the rooftop.
Speaker 5 (36:30):
I know the weather's going to be amazing. So hang out.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
I got like ten of my friends coming out with
me from here, so listen. I'm not responsible for what's
gonna happen.
Speaker 5 (36:41):
You know what it is.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
Come have some fun, all right? It is way up,
be safe and you have the last word.
Speaker 7 (36:48):
Yes, I was calling it out my cart, declining, it
was my first date with today I'm filled with in
his car. Declined. He told me he didn't have enough money,
but with me and my son, I f Alm was
like two at the time. I damn, I know my
cards gonna decline, it declined.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
Yeah, going know to pay your acts. Going way up
with Angelaye
