(01:02):
to shine a light on today from my time in Memphis.
Shout out to everybody there, and shout out to everybody
who took their mask off while we were in Memphis.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
These to have mass mandates.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Yes, well, not that type of mass.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (01:14):
I just want to say, some people really let their

I want to shine a light on everybody in Memphis.
We'll talk about this more during about last night, but
in particular, I want to shout out to Big Sue,
to DJ Mike T who's on the air right after us.
He's also the assistant program director on the station out
there on K ninety seven. And just my girl, Senator
(01:58):
London Lamar, the youngest black woman senator in the state
of Tennessee.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Shout out to her.
Speaker 5 (02:02):
She came out with us and made sure we had
a good time. We actually went to two changes restaurant.
Le's go out there. It was amazing. We had a
fantastic time. Dan, our producer, is smiling because he had
the best time out of everybody.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
But yes, Dan, I was going to say, I think
I did you know what's crazy? He is blessing.
Speaker 5 (02:23):
It's crazy because we were there for saying Jude Children's Hospital.
And we'll discuss that more and about last night. The
amazing work that they do. Their families don't have to
pay any money at all for their children to be
taken care of. They have housing, food, school. I mean,
it was a great, great, great experience. But we did
go out for one night, and I just want to
(02:46):
say Dan, his fiance was having her bachelorett party.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
He had his own bachelor party in Memphis.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
In Memphis, oh man.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
And it was a time. We love you guys. We
had so much fun.
Speaker 5 (02:56):
Now let's spread some more love and some more positivity.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
Gats do you want to shine a light.
Speaker 7 (03:00):
On I want to shine the light on myself. I'm
a father or father, a husband. I done left the
street life alone a few years back. I'm on a
positive route doing positive things. Ain't in no trouble. I'm
in college thirty nine, but I've just decided to go
to college. I'm in school for screenwriting all four point
oh gpa. I'm just want to shine a light on myself, man,
(03:21):
because I'm proud of what.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
I'm doing it.
Speaker 8 (03:22):
We don't always need.
Speaker 7 (03:23):
Somebody else to shine the light on. Sometimes we guys
just look in the mirror and say, hey, you that person,
you that woman, or you that king, you know what
I mean, or you that queen king.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
All right, shout out to you find children.
Speaker 5 (03:34):
What a role model you are now and in school
you know so, and screenwriting.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
I took screenwriting when I was in college.
Speaker 7 (03:40):
Oh see, now you've really got me as far as
see now now we're all the way right now.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
All right, well, thank you so much for calling shine
a light on you. Guys. We appreciate you. Thank you.
All right, Well that was.
Speaker 5 (03:50):
Shining light eight hundred and two ninety two fifty one
fifty if you couldn't get through.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
And when we come back, we have your yet.
Speaker 5 (03:56):
And my girl d Woods formerly I Danity King, now
a Broadway star, is speaking out for the first time
about ditty.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
She was on Good Morning America. I'm will tell you
what she said.
Speaker 5 (04:05):
It's way up, they say in the rooms from industry
shade to all of goss apout angels feeling that et.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
It's way up.
Speaker 5 (04:16):
And I'm here with bet good. That's for me, and
let's get into this yet. FIRSTEP, we're going to talk
about Diddy. Now. D Woods from Danny Kane was on
this investigation discovery documentary The Fall of Ditty, and one
of the things that she talked about on that documentary
was Ditty's predatory behavior.
Speaker 9 (04:33):
Okay, I see myself standing in those dark, scary, predatory
spaces and hearing somebody say some of the most degrading
things to me.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
How was it predatory?
Speaker 10 (04:47):
Somebody constantly treating you like a piece of meat, only
seeing only valuing you for your sex appeal, and in
some of the environments it was even scary to be
by yourself.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
At the risk of keeping for puff Daddy. I'm just curious, like,
where's the crime?
Speaker 5 (05:06):
What a predatory behavior? You're just saying, like degrading things
to you, I mean, being a jerk.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
Is it necessarily grounds for you know, criminality?
Speaker 5 (05:14):
Well, listen, I think that at a time like this,
when things get brought up, you're not really going to
have people on your side when you were degrading to them.
I wish if I was at work, if somebody was
saying predatory and degrading things to me, I would have grounds.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
But I mean, puff Daddy. You're his artists, right, so
you know he wants the best out of his artists,
and sometimes that comes out of cost of being mean.
Speaker 8 (05:36):
Well.
Speaker 5 (05:36):
She also said in this that they were treated like
pieces of meat and that it was really all about
their sexuality, and that people would be like, it would
be scary to be alone with him.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
All right, Now, here's what.
Speaker 5 (05:48):
Else you had to say as far as why it
was scary for her to even speak up even now?
Are you afraid in some ways that he'll get out,
that there'll be some sort of retribution.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
Oh yeah, yeah, even doing this, you know, it's like,
maybe I shouldn't say that, I should stop talking.
Speaker 11 (06:05):
Shut up?
Speaker 3 (06:06):
You know.
Speaker 10 (06:06):
I was like, you know, well, not talking hasn't changed anything.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Either, feels too ambiguous to me.
Speaker 5 (06:12):
All right, Well, I will say I've been following Deewoods
even after Dannity Cane she did for Colored Girls on
Broadway did phenomenal when I went to go see that play.
She also did another play called The Black Odyssey, So
she's been doing her thing on Broadway. So she's still
working and following her passion. All right. Now, you know
since we're talking about Diddy. When Dave Chappelle did his
(06:35):
skit on Saturday Night Live, his monologue Yes over the
weekend last weekend, and one of the things that he
talked about was actor Reginald vel Johnson aka Carl Winslow, right,
being at the Freak Offs.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Here's what he said.
Speaker 12 (06:49):
That's the one thing on the internet. So I'm not
sure this is true. Some guy who said he do Puppy's.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
Like, yeah, man, He's like.
Speaker 12 (06:54):
I was at the Freak Golf one time and I
went in the back room and Puff was in there
with calways the Dad family madness.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
He was smashing and I was like, Puff, what are
you doing?
Speaker 12 (07:04):
And he was like, yeah, feels good and make another
man do your bitten And I was.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
Like, oh god.
Speaker 12 (07:12):
Carl Winslow from Family Matters said.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
He's like, did I do that?
Speaker 3 (07:20):
Well, you know in real life.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
The response from Bell Johnson is the stuff came out
as false. He said, I have to hear it every
now and then. But Dave Chapelle made it funny and
I appreciate that. So he said he made it very civil.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
Well, I've never been to a Puff Daddy party, neither
you have it. I have not, No, we have it.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
I've never been to a freak off, but I've been
to a party.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Well me neither.
Speaker 5 (07:46):
Well that is your yet when we come back, we
have About last night, Yes, there was talked about what
we did over the weekend.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
It's way up.
Speaker 6 (07:55):
So about last night, he said, I went down.
Speaker 5 (08:01):
It's way up at Angela. Yee, my guy beat us here,
good job, beat.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
All right? And what did you do over the weekend?
Speaker 2 (08:08):
Not much? Just watch the refs help the Chiefs go
to the third Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (08:11):
Oh yeah, I was actually at my coffee shop watching
the game. I think I'm gonna do you know, I
just opened up the bar at cup We're gonna have
like a real grand opening, but for now it's open
with our liquor license. And I was trying out the
espresso Martini's. Definitely gonna watch the super Bowl there. So
I think I'm going to have like a little Super
Bowl fete at the coffee shop.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Count me in.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (08:34):
Yeah, it's gonna be chill. That's the whole point of it.
I want to be like a nice chill atmosphere. But
I was in Memphis over the weekend.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Okay, you honorary three six Mafia member.
Speaker 5 (08:44):
Well, we were at Saint Dude Children's Hospital and it
is an amazing experience. My producer Dan Y was with us. Dan,
that was your first time getting a tour because I
was there last year. I got the tour. You get
a chance to meet some of the patients. You get
to see some of the people who were patients there
now that they're adults, they work there too, you know,
(09:04):
so they have great experiences talking about what they've gone
through when how Saint Jude helped them.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
What do you think, Dan?
Speaker 2 (09:09):
It was really nice. The campus is gorgeous.
Speaker 11 (09:11):
It was I mean it was heavy, of course, you know,
it's a sad thing that that's going on. But I
will say what was crazy is that the tour guide
told us that it takes it costs two million dollars
a day to run the whole campus. And this is
an organization that just runs on you know, it's a nonprofit.
Speaker 5 (09:27):
Yeah, and literally you can see where that money goes
when I tell you the attention to detail. So I imagine,
you know the worst thing that could happen is that
you have a child who's sick, who has cancer, who
has sickle cell. But when you get to go to
Saint Dude, you don't have to pay for anything.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
So everything is free.
Speaker 5 (09:43):
And not only is it free, but they take excellent
care of not just the children but the families. So
you don't have the burden of a bill. You have
a place to stay, The facilities super clean, super nice.
I was like, this apartment would be nine thousand dollars
a month and can I move in? You don't want
to have to move in, trust me. But they do
(10:05):
make the experience so that if you do have to
be there because of uh having to deal with that,
they make it as pleasant as possible. They have teachers there,
the facilities, I mean, they have like a TV screen
outside you could watch movies outside like a huge screen.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
They have a playground, they have a video game room.
Speaker 5 (10:23):
Yeah, I mean it's but it's beautiful because while kids
are going through this, at least they don't have to
feel like a hospital where it's you know, you just
feel sad everywhere you go. So I just want to
shout out to them for that experience and for running
just strictly on donations.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
That's awesome.
Speaker 5 (10:41):
And we had a sneaker ball and then we had
a cowboy Carter theme. Dan definitely had on his cowboy hat.
You chaps, Yeah, he was pictures.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
Don't worry.
Speaker 11 (10:52):
Everyone came well dressed up. I had like a costume.
I see you look at like one of the village people.
Speaker 5 (10:58):
No, you look like the guy from Toy Story. Witty Yeah.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
And then the other thing.
Speaker 5 (11:03):
CC Winan's performed at lunch, which was amazing. And then
see low Green performed He's really dope. Pepe performed from
so and Pepa Tooo.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
It's the hell of a lineup.
Speaker 5 (11:12):
There were certain songs. I was like, this is a
beneficial I take your man. I was like, okay, I
like this song. Whatever she did, do push it. How
could you not do push it?
Speaker 13 (11:21):
Though?
Speaker 5 (11:22):
Yeah, So that was amazing. Now when we come back,
tell us a secret. Eight hundred two ninety two fifty
one fifty is a number. Anything that you want to
tell us. It's a no judgment zone. Trust me, it is,
because if you knew the secrets in this room, baby,
I got some in my phone. All right, Lord have mercy,
but we're not here to judge you. Eight hundred two
nine two fifty one fifty. It's a no judgment zone.
(11:45):
I can't talk about what people on social media will say.
But I know in this particular room, we not go
on judge you. Eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty.
Tell us a secret.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
This is a judgment free zone. Tell us a secret,
all right?
Speaker 3 (11:58):
As way up at Angela, yea, I'm here with beat us,
job beat us.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
Yes up.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
Are you ready to hear some secrets?
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Of course?
Speaker 5 (12:05):
Okay, because I know you knows he just like me,
and you know we don't pass judgment.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Maybe a little bit.
Speaker 5 (12:12):
You do pretty good though I try not to. Right,
you do pretty good on air. At least afterwards you'd
be like, what this person's crazy?
Speaker 3 (12:18):
All right?
Speaker 5 (12:18):
Eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty anonymous caller,
tell us your secret.
Speaker 14 (12:22):
So I found out that my mom had an affair
and my father is not who I thought it was.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
Oh, how'd you find out?
Speaker 14 (12:31):
I took an ancestry DNA test. I was looking for
a half sister that I thought my dad had had
on my mom, and then found out that actually my
mom was the one that had the affair.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
Wow, So did you say anything to your mom? Yet?
Speaker 8 (12:46):
I did?
Speaker 14 (12:46):
But she not coming off her you know, she didn't
even talking about it.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
You know what's crazy.
Speaker 5 (12:51):
This happened to somebody very close to me, and she
hasn't told her mom yet either, And she actually went
and had a chance to meet her father.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
Did you meet your your dad?
Speaker 15 (13:00):
Are?
Speaker 3 (13:00):
Do you want to?
Speaker 14 (13:02):
I'm not sure. It's just so complicated. But I'm really
more worried about my dad and if I should tell.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
Him, yes, he's going to be devastated.
Speaker 14 (13:11):
Yeah, that's why I don't want to say anything.
Speaker 5 (13:13):
I mean, no matter what though, that's still your dad
who raised you.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
I feel the same way.
Speaker 14 (13:18):
But he's remarried and I'm more worried that his new
wife is gonna try to take me off the wheel.
Speaker 5 (13:25):
Listen, but that's you're still his child that you know
what I'm saying. His name's on the birth certificate, right, Yeah, yeah,
so then yeah, but I would maybe talk to a
lawyer first, just to make sure. But my friend that's
really really close to me, she actually went and found
her real dad. Is that something that you want to do.
Speaker 14 (13:44):
I would consider it, Bio.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
I think I just to.
Speaker 14 (13:47):
Kind of wrap my head around it.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
Yeah, that's crazy.
Speaker 5 (13:51):
And he ended up passing away, so she was happy
that she had an opportunity to meet him before that,
did you like see where he is and if he's
still alive.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
Well, right now, I've.
Speaker 14 (14:01):
Been talking to a cousin that I found on ancestreet.
So she said, you know, if I feel ready, she'll
get the introduction.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
Wow. Okay, well good luck with that.
Speaker 5 (14:11):
This is you know, it's messy, and it's definitely none
of it's your fault.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
I appreciate that absolutely.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
All right. Well, if you whatever you do, we're here
to listen.
Speaker 14 (14:21):
Okay, I'm gonna follow up and let you know how
it goes.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
I'm gonna tell you this though.
Speaker 5 (14:25):
With my homegirl, her father, her biological dad's wife actually
was very not nice to her.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
Let's just say that, Yeah, these wives are really jealous.
I can.
Speaker 14 (14:36):
I mean, I definitely know. I call my step mother
my step monster.
Speaker 5 (14:40):
So wow, okay, all right, well do what you need
to do for you.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
You know what I'm saying. Okay, thank you, all right,
take care?
Speaker 14 (14:48):
You got.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
Right?
Speaker 3 (14:51):
All right? Well, that was tell us a secret. That's
an interesting one.
Speaker 5 (14:54):
You know a lot of people are finding things out
by doing these DNA tests, and you know, discovering things
that they would have never known otherwise.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
That's what Maury Do is here for.
Speaker 5 (15:03):
And when we come back, we have your yee tea
and let's talk about laws getting changed. We're going to
tell you what is happening now, what's being proposed as
a result of Wendy Williams guardianship.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
It's way up.
Speaker 4 (15:14):
Shure, she's about to blow the lid above this. But
let's get it. Oh yeah, Angela's feeling that. Yeezee, come
and get the tea.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
It's way up. But Angela, Ye, my guy beat outs here.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
Good job be dot yo.
Speaker 5 (15:24):
Let's get into this yet and first and foremost rest
in peace to dj unk. Yes, his widow said that
he died in his sleep. He was only forty three
years old and apparently it was from a heart attack.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
That's so young.
Speaker 5 (15:36):
It definitely is you know, we talk about heart health
a lot up here and the things that we need
to do to make sure that we take care of ourselves,
and so that is definitely going to be the conversation
moving forward. But his widow, Shakida long Platt, said, please
respect me and my family. I just lost my husband
and my kids just lost their father. Our life will
never be the same. I love you, Anthony forever.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
Let's it's what a classic record?
Speaker 3 (15:59):
Sure did? All right?
Speaker 5 (16:01):
Now let's talk about Dwight Howard and Royce Reed. Now,
RoCE Reed recently sat down on Cam Newton's Funky Fridays,
which I thought was a strange place to have this
conversation because I don't know, I don't know why. I
wouldn't think Cam Newton would have done that particular interview.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
But anyway, here.
Speaker 5 (16:17):
Is what she has to say about Dwight Howard because
now I guess she is able to speak. Before there
was a restraining order against her, she couldn't talk about
Dwight Howard.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
But here she is discussing his personal life.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
I mean, we are already here. Is she gay?
Speaker 3 (16:32):
You know you would like my finger right?
Speaker 13 (16:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (16:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 12 (16:35):
Have you ever witnessed him being with another man in
the bedroom?
Speaker 2 (16:40):
Yeah, all the time.
Speaker 14 (16:42):
They took mushrooms together and then they were like in
the bit.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
There you go, you guys takes rooms, right Howard?
Speaker 5 (16:50):
Well, and to be clear, you know, cam Newton asked
that question and there was a lawsuit against Dwhite Howard
that had been dropped and in uh, these allegations and
that filing, you know, Dwight Howard did say that they
engaged in consensual sexual activity. So this is not really news.
It's not like he's acted like he hasn't done this.
(17:13):
It's just he's saying it was consensual because it was
a lawsuit for a sexual assault and battery that has
been dismissed.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
Now.
Speaker 5 (17:19):
When Dwight Howard was on Way Up at Angela Yee,
he briefly touched on it.
Speaker 13 (17:25):
I really think my personal life is that's my personal life,
and I would never make public statements about anything private
in mind when it comes to who's in my bed
or anything like that.
Speaker 5 (17:36):
But I did see an interview where you said the
gay rum resign too, because those are things that people
kept bringing up.
Speaker 13 (17:42):
Of course they're going to say stuff like that to
keep this whole negative train going. We gotta find a
way to assassinate this man character. Yeah, I agree, his
baby mom she needs a new narrative, oh.
Speaker 5 (17:54):
Rach, But you know she used to be on Basketball Wise,
and when she was on there, she wasn't allowed to
say his name. Now that I guess all of this
has been lifted because people also think because now that
he's announced that he's engaged and he seems like he's
in a relationship. They act like that's what it's about,
but you know, it feels like she also is now
able to freely speak where previously she wasn't. So now's
the time, all right, And Wendy Williams, the New York
(18:17):
Senator is pushing for guardianship reform. As Wendy Williams is
raising awareness around her case, Senator Anthony Palumbo has announced
the renewal of his efforts to reform New York's guardianship
system with Carolyn's law. There's been several high profile cases
of guardianship abuse, including Wendy williams revelations about her fourth conservatorship,
and New York Attorney General Letitia James is also investigating
(18:41):
guardianship providers. So they want to make sure that they
enable family members and friends to visit loved ones on
the guardianship or conservatorship. And it's named after Carolyn Montante,
senior and victim of the guardianship system, whose loved ones
were denied visitation.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
Rights free Wendy Williams man.
Speaker 5 (18:56):
Yeah, the fact that the family can't see her is ridiculous.
All right, Well, that is your yet when we come back.
We have under the radar. These are the stories that
are not necessarily in the headlines. They're flying under the raidar,
but we want you to know about them. Here's some
Rihanna and Drake right now, what's.
Speaker 6 (19:11):
My name, it's in the news that relates to you.
These stories are flying under the radar.
Speaker 5 (19:17):
It's way yea but Angela, ye, I'm here with my
guy Beatac good job, be yo yo yo.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
And people are boycotting Target.
Speaker 5 (19:23):
This is under the radar, but not really at all
because of them cutting back on DEI initiatives. Now, I
think in particular because I was having these conversations. Look,
I have a black owned brand that's in Target. It's
called Coffee Uplifts people, and it's also on Amazon. And
it's not easy, especially in coffee if you think about it,
in particular with coffee. All coffee almost one hundred percent
(19:45):
comes from black and brown places, right. But we have
such a tiny, tiny percentage of ownership when it comes
to coffee shops coffee brands, like literally less than ten percent,
probably even five.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
Right.
Speaker 3 (19:59):
And there's a lot of.
Speaker 5 (20:00):
Women who own these farms, that work on these farms,
and the pennies that they get, you know, for the
work that they do, there definitely has to be a
change in that. And getting into these stores is not easy.
And Tabitha Brown is in Target and she is warning
about the boycotting Target and how that could hurt black
owned businesses.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
Here's what she had to say.
Speaker 15 (20:20):
If we all decide to boycott and be like, no,
we're not spending no many of these organizations, listen, I
get it, but so many of us will be affected.
And if any of you know business, it doesn't just
happen overnight where you can just go take all your
stuff and pull it off the shelves. And everyone does
not have the funds or space to house their own products.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
Yeah, I'm conflicted. You know. I do believe we need
some more brothers on the wall, but I also believe
in just having great products and if you're black, that's
just an added bonus.
Speaker 5 (20:52):
Yeah, I think we're talking about great products because there
are a lot of great black owned brands that unfortunately, like, look,
my product is self funded. I don't have no investors,
I don't have the marketing dollars. There's a lot of
things that we don't have. And to get on these shelves.
It takes a lot to be able to have people
that we don't even have people that can go into
stores and see what the placement is like and have
(21:14):
the time and energy. We kind of like do everything ourselves,
and so we may not have the resources of a
brand that has investors. And we also know that black
and brown people do not get the amount of funding
that other people get that.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
White people get.
Speaker 5 (21:27):
It's just a fact, right, and so sometimes you can
have a great product, but it's not easy to scale
the way that you want to. So there's a lot
of obstacles that there's so many great black owned brands
that I love that I personally just order. And it
is nice if you can order directly from a brand too,
because we get more money that way, direct to consumer.
(21:48):
But being in a target, being on Amazon, those things
are important too because of the branding of it. And
like if the coffee expires and no one buys it,
that's money that we end up you know, having eat.
Speaker 3 (21:59):
So I understand and that part of it.
Speaker 5 (22:01):
Melissa Butler, who owns the lip Bar, I don't know
if we have time to play this, but we'll talk
about it later. You know, she has one of the
biggest cosmetics brands inside of Target. And so I understand
that it's difficult and there's a lot of reassessment that
has to be done. But at the same time, Target
shouldn't play with us like that. We do spend a
lot of money in Target, and we've renamed it Tarja
(22:23):
and people were in particular heard about Target because of
how vocal they were about the initiatives that they were
doing to support black owned brands. That was a big
part of their marketing, right, Like, we're dedicating a certain
amount of shelf space, you know whatever, eleven percent, whatever
it was. That was a big deal, and now they're
trying to roll that back. And so we do have
a choice of where we want to spend our money
(22:43):
and our dollars. So I see both sides of it
as a person whose products are in stores too, and it's.
Speaker 3 (22:50):
A hard thing.
Speaker 5 (22:50):
Ye say, visibility matters, all right, Well, that is you're
under the radar. I know we'll have more conversations of that.
We have the way up mixed at the top of
the hour, plus we have asked ye and I'm more
more yet coming up. When my guy beat it. I
know you want to talk about Central City and we'll
do that shortly too.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
It's way up. She's like to talk like they and Jelajan,
like they and jelajee.
Speaker 4 (23:10):
Man, she's spilling it all.
Speaker 5 (23:12):
This is yeat well, it's way up at Angela. Yea,
my guy beat us here, good job beat dot hey,
now beat out. I know you're a fan of Cential
Sea I am, and his first major label debut album,
Can't Rush Greatness, has dropped and they're saying that this
is the biggest debut for a hip hop album in
twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
Awesome.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
Now tell me what you think about it.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
I know we only three weeks into the year, but
I think we have our first rap album of the
Year contender. It's really good. I mean, he's transparent, he's skillful,
vulnerable all throughout the project. Songs like Saint Patrick's CRG, Limitless,
Top Free Style, GBP all great records, man, you know,
and like I said last couple months ago, you know,
(23:57):
I think he's the best new rap of the last
five years.
Speaker 5 (23:59):
And I'm staying, Okay, well, this might be proof positive,
but like you said, it's only been three weeks.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
The fact that they're like the biggest debut three weeks.
Speaker 5 (24:08):
I don't know if I would have used that headline
in particular, but he did a great, strong debut.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
Yes, and he has a show here in New York
City thinking a week from now, so I'll be there
with my fish and chips.
Speaker 5 (24:18):
Okay, all right now, Kite Loray has teased some new music,
and you know, there's been a lot of speculation on
social media about her not just being pregnant, but being
pregnant and cheated on with Trippy Red. We saw some
conversations between uh, you know that allude to the cheating. Well,
here is a snippet of that song that she posted.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
All cheating should have killed you. But you're gonna have
to see this. We write into pieces. He told me,
love me when.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
You need it.
Speaker 16 (24:50):
I don't say I don't believe this.
Speaker 3 (24:56):
This is love and you can keep it so like that.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
She kind of deserves it.
Speaker 1 (25:01):
What be that?
Speaker 3 (25:03):
That's not nice? And she's pregnant, so you know how
this has to be for her right now? Hoes, Yes, awful.
Speaker 5 (25:10):
I feel bad that she has to go through this.
I know people are like, what did you expect? And
da da da da da. The first time you know,
it's just it's terrible and I feel bad for her.
All right now speaking of this songs because people are
saying that well, kind of addressing the situation, Dwight Howard
posted about to drop the first positive disc song ever.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
Yep, me and my wife Amy.
Speaker 5 (25:33):
Luciani about to inspire all of our enemies one hundred
hashtag no shade, hashtag, pray God, heal they hearts a
positive dis song.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
Are we into it?
Speaker 2 (25:45):
No, We're not like our disrecords disrespectful.
Speaker 5 (25:49):
Okay, yeah, that's the disc comes from disrespectful, right, all right.
Kevin Hart has to step in as a CEO of
Heartbeat Production company. There's been a leadership shake up. This
is the third leadership change in less than two years.
He stepped in just before Thanksgiving. There were a series
of layoffs that impacted around twenty employees, which is about
one quarter of their workforce. So again, this has been around.
(26:12):
Heartbeat has been around since two thousand and nine, and
he has Laugh Out Loud. He has Heartbeat Productions, and
they launched with that one hundred million dollar investment from
a private equity firm which took a minority stake in
the new company that company, Heartbeat is now valued it
over six hundred and fifty million dollars.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
So yes, always it's successful.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
I'm always curious of how these people raise so much
money and then end up laying off people.
Speaker 5 (26:39):
I mean, I think part of when you raise money
is also not always just your decision, because there's people
whose money's involved, so they sometimes have a say, and
then also streamlining things. You know, if you feel like
our staff is too bad, and then sometimes it's not
even just your performance, but they may lay you off
because there's somebody under you that can do that job
for less money.
Speaker 3 (26:59):
You know who knows.
Speaker 5 (27:00):
Now, all right, well that is your Yet when we
come back, we got to talk about Wags to Riches.
Everybody has been talking about this show on social media.
It's on Netflix. I have caught up on it, and
so in particular, they're talking about Yes jewels and the
confrontation that she had at the restaurant. She was invited
to come out and things got very dicey. She's not
happy with the show. We'll tell you what happened and
(27:22):
then you guys will weigh in and pick aside. All right,
it's way up, Yeah, it's.
Speaker 4 (27:26):
Turn me up here we go up doin this is
way up with Angela.
Speaker 3 (27:30):
Ye, yes, it's way up with Angela.
Speaker 13 (27:32):
Yee.
Speaker 3 (27:33):
I'm here with beat Dot good job be. We're having
a pizza party.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
Yeah, man delicious.
Speaker 5 (27:38):
All right now, I want to talk about Wags to
riches and I do have you kind of wrapped up
in this show? Yes, this is on Netflix, and I
saw a lot of people posting about what happened but
not having watched the full episodes and understanding what's going
on in it's entiety.
Speaker 3 (27:52):
So I'm gonna break it down and then do pick aside.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
All right.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
So, yes, Jules, she's a marketer.
Speaker 5 (27:57):
We know her most recently for having worked with Kanye
but not having a so pleasant departure from working with
with Yay. But anyway, she showed up to this event
that Cherrelle and Charelle is also Sinko's I guess X
fiance because I think they've since broken up. She also
was on Selling Tampa and she has her own brokerage,
and so Cherrell invited her out to come out with
(28:19):
the girls. Yes, Jills is the only white woman on
in this cast, by the way, and she ends up
getting into an argument with this woman Kenia.
Speaker 3 (28:28):
Now Kania brings up the.
Speaker 5 (28:29):
Fact that people have said that, Yes Jules is a
culture vulture.
Speaker 3 (28:34):
Here's how the argument went, what do you make.
Speaker 16 (28:36):
Money off of building brands, launching careers, putting people in
position to make money?
Speaker 2 (28:41):
What do you do for your culture agent?
Speaker 7 (28:44):
About?
Speaker 1 (28:45):
Sure?
Speaker 2 (28:45):
You were the same that wanted to wear a thin shirt?
Speaker 16 (28:49):
Right, the shirt said Ninja's lie lodge, just like say it,
I'm going to say today is not the mother.
Speaker 11 (28:55):
Today is here.
Speaker 12 (28:58):
Around a bunch of black women.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
When you say lower your.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
I love women too.
Speaker 3 (29:09):
I'm happy about that beat up.
Speaker 5 (29:11):
And so to put it more into perspective, Yes Jewles
had tweeted out a picture of a T shirt like
can I wear this orna? And it said N words
lie a lot And people did not like that at
all because it's nothing to play with. Right, But when
she showed up to this event, and when I was
watching it, I later on learned that Yes Jules was
having a tough day that day. In particular, the reason
(29:33):
she was having a tough day was because we find
out later she went to go eat with Shade, who's
also on the show. She had recently had the decision
to have an abortion, and in Florida six weeks they're
in Miami. Once you get past the six weeks mark,
I guess you can't do it anymore there. But she
had made this tough decision and she didn't even want
to come out, but Cherrelle convinced her to come out,
(29:54):
and she told Cherrell about the procedure.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
And I guess this happened we get there, so.
Speaker 4 (30:01):
You started talking about kids. Sure that guy's plans.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
She knows the procedure.
Speaker 6 (30:08):
I just had.
Speaker 16 (30:09):
I didn't want to have an a worship, but I
didn't want to be a single one of two struggling
after I just lost kind job, like trying to figure
it out, like I didn't know how I was gonna
be able to do that.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
So I was just in a really bad space. And
it happened that day award.
Speaker 3 (30:25):
Yeah, and Cheryl asked her at the table, like, do
you want to have more kids? Right after?
Speaker 5 (30:29):
It just happened that day, So I guess she was
in a bad mood when that already happened. So a
couple of things here right when she got into the
argument with Kenea at the table. Yes, dude, I think
going on this show, you know it's a reality show,
so they're going to bring that up a lot, and
you have to know how to respond to that if
you authentically feel like you were wrong. People have called
(30:49):
you a culture vulture, and it came up previously to
one another episode, and I think that her response ended
up being just you know, what do you do for
your culture? You know, I exist like you kind of.
And then she also said something like, well my hair
is real yike. Yeah, that's never a good thing to
say in a situation like that. But Stony, now Stony's
on the show. I know, I'm breaking this all down
(31:11):
for everybody who hasn't seen it. Stony is Rick Ross's ex, right,
they have a child together. She's also the one that
Sue fifty said for narrating that sex tape that came out.
She seed in one in that case. And here is
what Stony had to say. She feels that Cherrelle set up. Yes,
Jules in this position, did not like how they.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
Did Jews on that fighting scene.
Speaker 3 (31:32):
She just had Jews verbally first, and she was very
aggressive with Jews. So I think Jews was just defending herself.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
I didn't know this girl.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
Charill brought this year to stir of the pot.
Speaker 5 (31:43):
That's what I thought, all right, and just to summon
up Cherrelle has since denied.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
That she's on vacation.
Speaker 5 (31:49):
She was in the pool and she just basically said
I did not set her up, and people didn't show
that prior to all of that, Yes, Jews had a
conversation with the woman Kenia and was kind of like,
what what are you doing here? So we want you
guys to pick a side. Who was right and wrong
in this situation? Was it Yes Jewels or was it Kanea?
Because Yes, Jewles did call her to B word, but
(32:10):
Kania did put her finger in Yes Jules's face and
it turned into a physical altercation.
Speaker 3 (32:15):
And so the women are kind of embarrassed, like you're
making us look bad. We want to know what you think.
Who is right? Who is wrong?
Speaker 5 (32:20):
Pick aside, Yes Jeweles versus Kanea in this situation on
Wax to Riches on Netflix eight hundred two nine two
fifty one fifty call aside.
Speaker 6 (32:30):
It's not just right or wrong, it's about what you believe.
It's time to pick a side and stay there.
Speaker 3 (32:37):
Pick a side. Time beat that It's way up with
Angela Yee I mean my lawyer, good job be that,
and we.
Speaker 5 (32:42):
Are talking about wags to riches. Now, this show is
eight episodes on Netflix. A lot of people have been
talking about the drama that's been happening on the show,
in particular, Yes, Jeles, I know she did not have
a good time filming the show from what she said
on social media.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
And one of the things that she got.
Speaker 5 (32:58):
Into an argument was with one of the women at
the table who question if she's a culture vulture. She's white,
right and all the other cast members are black women,
and she did not respond well to that question, all right.
She ended up asking her well, what do you do
for your culture? And then she also said well, my
hair is real, and things definitely went left to turned
into a physical altercation, with the women weighing in saying
(33:22):
that yes, Jeles needs to take some accountability.
Speaker 3 (33:24):
But then some people feel like, yes, Jewles was blindsided
and attacked.
Speaker 5 (33:27):
We want to see what you think eight hundred two
ninety two fifty one fifty scenario.
Speaker 3 (33:31):
Pick a side.
Speaker 6 (33:33):
I'm on Jewel side.
Speaker 3 (33:34):
Canille was dead wrong.
Speaker 14 (33:35):
Like, I understand the point of them calling her a
cultural vulture, but.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
At that point in time, they cannot tell.
Speaker 8 (33:42):
This lady how to react to disrespect, Like this girl
pointed her hand in her face, she was yelling at her,
she was aggressive. Jewles reacted exactly how I would have reacted,
because if you think you're gonna put your hand in
my face, you got another thing coming.
Speaker 3 (33:57):
In the face. It's a tough one to let go
because that's what you like.
Speaker 5 (34:02):
All right, all right for Carling, it feels like, yeah,
it feels like Stony's on her side too. So hey, Anthony,
it's me and beat out the who side are you on?
Speaker 3 (34:14):
Yes, Jewels or Kenea.
Speaker 14 (34:15):
I'm on Carnea's side.
Speaker 6 (34:17):
Yes, Jules was one that ain't have it socially, you know.
Speaker 14 (34:19):
What I'm saying as far as like she can't she
ain't know, like, hey, like that was wrong when she did.
Speaker 3 (34:25):
Oh yeah, she's saying. She's a culture vulture and what
and what she did was wrong.
Speaker 11 (34:29):
Absolutely, she needs to understand.
Speaker 4 (34:31):
She got to read the room.
Speaker 5 (34:32):
Like, hey, folks going through a lot right now, all
this and in Florida to there in Florida and Miami.
Speaker 12 (34:40):
Absolutely, I'm down here Florid right now, yes, Florida.
Speaker 5 (34:43):
Okay, all right, so you're on team kanea jes Jews
should have read the room.
Speaker 4 (34:48):
Absolutely all right, well, thank you, thank you, appreciation.
Speaker 5 (34:51):
Hey, Damien, what's up what I'm doing Detroit? I'm telling
me and beat out pick aside, Yes, Jules versus Knea.
Speaker 3 (35:00):
I have to go with Camilla.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
I watched the whole show this weekend, and all girl,
there's a culture vulture. If you watch the whole show,
she brought the boxer Ryan garcias racist as well. She's horrible.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
Yeah, she did bring Ryan Garcia out.
Speaker 5 (35:15):
You know, Ryan Garcia has says some explosively racist things.
She brought him to a volleyball game, and she also
said my hair real. I don't even know what that
had to do with anything, nothing at all.
Speaker 1 (35:25):
Like she she's horrible. You can see why she got
fired from YE or whatever.
Speaker 3 (35:30):
Yay, yeah, yeah, but the whole thing is is that
she sloppy with her Okay.
Speaker 1 (35:36):
I mean I told him to tell you. I listened
to your show every day. I'm probably your biggest fan
in the d Seriously.
Speaker 3 (35:43):
I appreciate it. Well, I'm always there, so hope I
run into you.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
I'm sure we eventually will.
Speaker 5 (35:48):
We got to go to parlay, you know, all right,
well you guys pick us out. I love all the
people that are watching, Yes, you know everybody, Angela stop.
Speaker 3 (35:56):
It all right?
Speaker 5 (35:56):
Well, anyway, when we come back, you guys have the
last word because it's is y'all show.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
It's way up.
Speaker 4 (36:02):
Gets your voice heard? What the word is? The last
word on Way Up with Angela?
Speaker 3 (36:07):
Yee. I feel like beat Up was just singing along
to that.
Speaker 12 (36:11):
Good j.
Speaker 3 (36:14):
It's way up.
Speaker 5 (36:15):
What a great time today. Yes, now you're going to
go home and watch Wags to Riches addicted. I want
to also shout out a couple of people. I want
to shout out Says because I saw her saying that
she was going to own this year, right because she
has the number one movie that's out right now. But
I want to say, since I owned last year too.
She broke all kinds of records. She's doing the super
(36:36):
Bowl halftime show is confirmed with Kendrick, and sometimes people
don't give them as it's a credit that they deserve.
I also want to congratulate Earn your Leisure. They have
a best selling book on your Time's best selling book.
You deserve to be rich and I love this. Let
me show you this text message because my friend Keys
who does my makeup.
Speaker 3 (36:56):
She just texts me, thank you.
Speaker 2 (36:57):
Right.
Speaker 5 (36:57):
I got her a copy of the book, and you know,
she screenshotted a page you deserve to be rich, and
she put thank you because we were having a conversation
today and she was saying, how you know, she was like,
I don't need to be rich, I just want to
be good. I'm like, no, you The pole point is
you deserve to be rich. We shouldn't feel bad for
one of the things that we can work hard for
(37:18):
that we deserve to obtain.
Speaker 2 (37:20):
That's true.
Speaker 5 (37:20):
You know sometimes people equate having money and being rich
with being like evil or something.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
Yeah, I don't understand that. I'm tired of being middle class.
Speaker 3 (37:30):
Right riddle.
Speaker 5 (37:31):
Class is about to be not meddle anymore, right the
way things are going. But anyway, thank you guys for
joining us. It's your show, so you have the last word, hi,
because I need she well, I wanted to shine the
light of my bead Gary Coyles.
Speaker 14 (37:46):

Speaker 14 (37:53):
On her and Sakim for just being an amazing and
amazing father. And just a great provider counselor.
Speaker 1 (38:00):
Look my prayer warriors, so Gary blows.
Speaker 15 (38:03):
I want to shine a light on you.
Speaker 12 (38:05):

Speaker 4 (38:05):
