Saturday. The word, he's theword. This is Soul Cow kf I

(01:07):
AM six fort It live everywhere onthe iHeartRadio I've been Bandini and Crenshaw,
Expo Park and Mission via Ho.This is Soul Cal Saturday. I'm your
host Twala Sharp. First off, taking a look at this growing trend question
mark people allegedly moving out of California, t which for the most part,

(01:34):
I say bye, really and trulybecause if you are leaving California, get
to going. Free up the roadsfor the rest of us. Free up
everything for the rest of us.Beaches, amusement parks, movie theaters,
free it up for the rest ofus. Pack your bags and go.

(01:55):
Do not let California hit you wherethe door should have splitched you. But
in this report that says more peopleare moving out of California than any other
state, there is a dot dotdot to this because, according to a
survey by Consumer Affairs, California ranksas the number one state people are moving

(02:21):
from, ahead of New York,New Jersey and Illinois. The report revered
California saw roughly some seventeen thousand peoplemove out of the state, while only
just over seven thousand people moved in, making it the leading state in outbound
migration. In comparison, New York, which is second on the list,

(02:44):
experienced slightly fewer. The Consumer Affairsteam analyzed data from over one hundred and
forty three thousand users from January twentythree to March twenty four, and indicating
that North Carolina or North Carolina, saw the largest increase in movers. Where
are they going from? North Carolina? Interestingly enough, though, and this

(03:07):
is why I say this is adot dot dot. According to redfin,
California also dominates the real estate listinteresting with the nation's largest population and highest
median home in prices. It's nosurprise to anyone paying attention that California also

(03:31):
has the highest concentration in million dollarhomes. Now, that is not a
surprise to anyone, I don't think. I mean in California, in the
San Francisco Bay area, where aroundeighty one percent of all homes are valued
at a million dollars or more.I mean, really and truly, the

(03:53):
house that's right next to our housein Altadena, that house so for I
believe a mill five This is outTadena. So I mean million dollar houses
in California, period. That's nota shaker at all. I mean right
now, Yes, San Francisco eightyone percent of the homes or valued at

(04:14):
million dollars. San Jose, rightnext to San Francisco eighty percent, Anaheim
fifty five percent, Oakland, believeit or not, forty nine percent of
the homes in Oakland are valued ata million dollars. San Diego forty percent,
Los Angeles thirty eight percent. Andthen we'll skip Hawaiian going down to

(04:35):
Oxnard. Thirty five percent of thehomes in Oxnard are million dollar homes.
And do we round out. No, that's about it for California as far
as million dollar homes. But that'spretty much topping the list. I mean,
you think about all these people moving, what are they leaving their million

(04:55):
dollar homes? I doubt it.Doubt it. Also, these California cities
on relator dot com are ranked thehottest housing markets in the entire United States.
What wait a minute, A bunchof cities in California ranked as the

(05:20):
hottest housing markets in a state wherepeople are moving dot dot I don't understand
it right now. According to relatordot com, the hottest housing markets in
the country as of March twenty twentyfour ranked number thirty nine, Sacramento ranked

(05:45):
number third, ranked number forty,Santa Rosa number forty one, Modesto for
some reason, others tied with Ohio. Okay, Cincinnati, Ohio number fifty
one, Santa Cruz number fifty three, Oxnard and Thousand Oaks ranked number sixty
three. Uh Versilah, Yeah,I don't think that's a califunny, is

(06:08):
it? Maybe? I'm not sure? Okay, cook cool, good for
the silo sixty four. San Diegoseventy four. Stocked in stocked in is
one of the hottest markets in thecountry. I guess San Francisco, Yeah,
it's a given San Francisco, Oakland, Haywood area, Fresno eight number

(06:29):
they come in San Francisco, seventyseven. No, this is all pretty
high hundred. This is a highin one hundreds. It's definitely fifty and
above. But in the country,in the entire country, because I could
tell you this while your eyes areall furrowed and while you got that cherry
work on your face. Number one, it's not on this list at all.
There's no Jerry. I'm just Ijust want to make sure you know

(06:50):
nowhere in Jersey Trenting nothing. Butit doesn't seem like you went below forty.
So I just I'm not every thingslike forty in up. Yeah,
but you would think if people aremoving out of California, how are the
top one hundred ranked cities, howwe end that top one hundred for all

(07:14):
the way through? Well? What'snumber one? Well, look, number
one was on here. Okay,I'm not looking at a number one.
I'm just saying ample, No,what are people from California moving there to
make it a California? Probably Texas, That's what I'm thinking. No,
No, No, this list righthere, it just go. It just
gives us where California ranks. We'renow looking at at number one. This
is just of the top three hundredcities listed, and they just want us

(07:38):
to know where in California we are. Okay, So I mean, look,
look, if we have what's somenineteen cities on the top one hundred
list in the nation, mind you, in the nation, we're doing pretty
damn good for an area where peopleare quote unquote moving out and in in

(08:01):
and in in. This is tome the final dot dot dot people moving
out of California. Rent prices havefallen sharply in Los Angeles. So and
this is supposed to be you know, they say Los Angeles is it's too
expensive to live in Los Angeles andthis, that and the other. AHA.

(08:22):
Rents in Los Angeles have dropped threepercent over the past year, marking
the sharpest decline of any major cityin California. According to a new report
from Crosstown, LA, the medianrent for a one bedroom apartment in Los
Angeles is currently one thousand, eighthundred and seventy two per month and two

(08:45):
than three hundred and eighty eight fora two bedroom apartment. Based on this
data, this comparison is down bysome two point five percent over the past
year and three percent respectively. Andwe are out paid seeing both San Francisco
and San Diego. So with allthese million dollar homes and and in these

(09:07):
million dollar homes are selling. Okay, that's another part of the report that
I forgot to mention. These arenot just valuations. These are million dollar
homes which are selling. And wehave some nineteen twenty or so cities in
the top one hundred hottest housing marketsin the nation. And La, which

(09:30):
everyone says, La can't live inLa. It's too expliciit not not.
I question that because rent prices aresharply declining. I say all that to
say again, if you are leavingCalifornia while we are hottest, fish grease,
but by do not let California hityou where the good Lord split you.

(09:54):
You're listening to Soul col Saturday withTaula Sharp on demand from KFIAMCA sporting

(10:20):
K five A M six forty liveeverywhere on the iHeartRadio app in crystall Aaire,
Crystal Air, Yeah, Crystal AAIIR, Koreatown, Tustin, and why
a part this is soul cal Saturdaysuper producer Kayla where'd you find Crystallaire that
actually is not in the Inland Empire, but it's actually in Los Angeles County.

(10:41):
Nice Crystalaire. Yeah, pop abottle, why don't you That's really
that's what they do there. Youshould really visit sometimes. It's really a
place there we go something that Iam always getting on MO about and the

(11:01):
later crew they know to me,if there are any earthquakes whatsoever, anything
that happens with any rumbling, Iam on it. I am bring it
to the table, let's go,let's talk about it. And yeah,
and then they just goffa, They'rejust like, whatever two point five.

(11:24):
If it's not over a five,do not even mention it. But I
have to. I have no choicebut to mention because I'm telling you,
within the last two weeks week orso, we have had a swarm of
earthquakes. I mean a literal swarm. Five quakes hit southern California last week

(11:48):
alone. Now, yes, theyrange between two point one and three point
four whatever, but I mean fromNewport Beach all the way through Pasadena,
we have been plagued by this evilform of earthquakes just rumbling all around.

(12:11):
And yes, there is theories thatpoint to these minor earthquakes releasing some of
the tension on the san Andrea's faultare kind of like, you know,
let some of the pressure off, just a little rumble, rumber, rumble,
and then you know, kind oftake some of the pressure off.
Or or or this could be meand my own crazy earthquake conspiracy. They're

(12:37):
all coming together, they're all convergingfor one big one. And maybe maybe
it's because on I think it's beenon Sci Fi or AMC, they have
been showing all of these disaster moviesone after another, from The Core to
twenty fourteen, to all these andI'm figuring, n twenty fourteen, why

(13:01):
are they show up this movie? Now, that's a little crazy. Usually
I think you're wrong, But honestly, I heard that we are overdue for
a massive earthquake that we have notgotten yet, So I think he might
be onto something like massive. Imean I've been hearing that since fifth grade,
yeah, I mean four years, and now I'm hearing it too,
so it must be. It mustbe about to happen any day now.

(13:22):
Everyone listening right now has done thestop drop roll, and they get under
your school desk because the big one'scoming. Yes, yes, yes,
we'll look the big one is coming. But Andrew got you gotta admit,
we've been having a lot. SoI hear you on the whatever ism on
the big one, because yes,the big one has been coming for a

(13:43):
while. You know, we hadthe north Ridge quake and all that,
and everyone thought, yeah, okay, it's about as big as we're gonna
get for a minute. But I'mjust saying we on a regular basis,
we are having damn nears is becominga daily occurrence where we are having something
ranging in the three somewhere, andit's it's getting a little crazy. It's
getting just a little bit ridiculous withall these earthquakes. So either these earthquakes

(14:09):
are gonna go or they're gonna getoff the plot. It's gonna be one
of the two because we have tohave we have to get this over with.
And unfortunately I will I will agreewith Mo. If we have a
two point eight or more, it'sa rap. It is a rap.
If you remember the impact of thenorth Ridge quake, we have eight an

(14:33):
eight anything above and eight. Theground is liquifined. We it is going
to be a problem. Buildings willbe all all what the buildings are meant
to fight? I guess that's whypeople are leaving. Sure, no,
no, no, Kayla, isthat the people leaving they don't something we

(14:54):
don't know? Oh my god.Now okay, so now it all comes
together. These people have obviously theones who've been tipped off by local governments.
Maybe they're they're big wigs and they'relike, hey, get out of
California. We just got word fromthe quake app that the big ones coming.
Maybe maybe sometimes I think to myself, I am glad I live in

(15:18):
Altadena, because I think it mayhave been like six years ago. There's
a port of saying like, youknow, the mountain range will become beachfront
property. I'm like, oh,well that's right, I'll be walking to
the beach. You know. MarkZuckenberg, I think a couple months ago
was building his underground fort in Hawaii. Yeah. Yes, so maybe he
knows something we don't know. No, see, there are a couple of

(15:39):
those underground forts actually in existence nowin La. In California. There there
actually are a couple of underground structuresthat have already been be Okay, see,
I'm getting time. Some kids whodeep into the conspiracy. Okay,
how do we know about these earthquakes? How do we avoid them? Well,
there is actually actually now in California. There is a new advanced quake

(16:03):
system in place, and I willtell you all about it. On the
other side, you're listening to soulCal Saturday with Tawala Sharp on demand from
KFI A M six forty KF IAM six forty vives everywhere on the iHeartRadio

(16:30):
and wats what's up Garden Grove,Seal Beach and Apple Valley? This is
soul Cal Saturday, Twila Sharp Townright there? Wat what's up Apple Valley?
I'm like, I say, Andrew, are you from what the hell?

(16:52):
Contrary to proper uh? What isa popular belief? No? Okay,
how about what you said? Myhometown was like right up to said
wats, I was like, waitwhat? Shout out to Apple Valley?
Apple Valley too. Before the break, we were discussing the swarm of earthquakes
plaguing southern California on a constant basis. H Andrew Caravella joining along with everyone

(17:18):
else and laughing at the theory ofthe big one coming. Yeah, yeah,
yeah, I know, I know, I know, I know.
The big one that's been coming nowsince forever. Still no need to not
be super prepared for the big oneshould the ground start to liquify under you.
But a talk back set is cominguntil it gets here. That's the

(17:41):
common sense theory. So it's alwaysgoing to be coming until it comes.
I mean, are you prepared atyour house? We're relatively prepared. Relatively.
I have several cases of water justin case. Yeah, water,
extra beds, you know, thingslike that. And every day I get
up, I'm always make mental stock. Make sure you grab this, this,

(18:02):
this, you know, there's certainthings I know if need be.
My onliest concern is because my childrenwho stayed in the valley, their mother,
they're they're all in the valley solong. It's like, how do
I get to them? Or ifI'm not like say it right now or
burdbank, like you know, isour meeting place safe? Things like that,

(18:26):
you ain't going nowhere, girl flightsAnd then there's that yeah, they're
they're they're not gonna be coming.Hey, let's let's let's land in California.
What there's grounded shaking? The BigOne happened? No, no,
no, you're not getting out ofhere. Well, unless uh, the
big one happens, like saying,la proper and like this new newly uh

(18:47):
rebuilt and revitalized airport, and whereis it the Bob Hope Airport. It's
not supposed to beautiful and have allthese restaurants supposed to beautiful Orange County like
that was supposed to be nice. Now, So I mean, I don't
know, but yeah, you haveto stay here. You have to because
you're we're on head just if itcomes, if and when it comes,
we have to be on air.I promise you. KFI is going to

(19:07):
be these sorts of all information dealingwith reporting on the earthquake and making sure
all the information is out. KFIis actually a federally mandata station that our
signal will survive any disaster and thinglike that. So you're so cool there,
Yeah, it's the truth like that. But adding to that now,

(19:27):
because of this is my belief, because of all of these earthquakes that have
been happening in California, they areupdating our earth Earthquake Early Alert system to
make sure that we are fully fullyprepared for a big one. And this
goes beyond the quake AAP and thingslike that which we have on our phones,

(19:51):
and I believe it may be ableto reach us anyway, whether we
subscribe to it or not. ButCalifornia's early earthquake warning system is getting a
sizem upgrade, punintended one that willallow residents to receive more timely alerts about
shaking from an incoming megaquake. Becauseyes, anything above really a six point
five, really and truly is amegaquake that that's going to be insane.

(20:17):
So if and when this new ornot if and when, but when this
new quake comes, we will beable to get more timely placed earthquake alerts
that can give us more time. And here's the biggest thing about this.
It's not just that this new earthquakesystem is going to be able to give

(20:41):
us early reports. It's going tobe able to give us more accurate reports.
Because if the quake is, sayon the surface, they're saying it's
a five, you know, okay, batten down the hatches. But the
initial quake, just the initial rumbling, starts at a five. But there
may be a bigger epicent or theremay be more to come. Then that's

(21:04):
something that we need to know. And they in this article, It says
that earthquake underestimations are something that leadto a lot of people not fully preparing
or not fully heeding earthquake warnings. In instance, there was the earth earthquake
in Japan of twenty eleven, wherethe initial report placed it at the seven

(21:30):
point nine, but the actual report, the actual earthquake when it finally was
all said and done, when itfinally hit and caused that tsunami which killed
some eighteen thousand people, it wasactually a nine point one. And yes,
you should definitely react to fisty sevenpoint nine. But the underestimation of

(21:52):
that and just the second amount oftime that didn't allow people to react quick
enough and to heed the warning andto get out of town. With more
time, yes, hopefully people couldhave escaped. And you know, again,
I know that it's all for notlike right now if if the big
one hit. Even though I've got, you know, some preparations in my

(22:14):
car, they're in the garage rightnow, and you know, so I
don't know if I'm going into thegarage when an earthquake hits to get to
my car. Your garage might beliquid, the garage might look it might
collapse wrong. We know, andI don't think I'm gonna try to walk
right now just to get all theway back to Altaden. I mean,
hell, it took me in overan hour to get here just driving.
This's going to be absolute pandemonium ifwe have something of that magnitude. But

(22:41):
all this goes towards one thing beingtrue. We need to do every single
thing we can to make sure weare prepared for the eventuality of an earthquake
because cell phone signals everything will bedown. Yes, Kfi may be up
and running, but you need tobe able to get in contact with your

(23:03):
family and your loved ones. Youneed to have a plan in place of
where you all will meet. Youneed to have a certain a certain understanding
of the layout of the land toknow how best you can travel, because
if you live near freeways and overpassesand things like that, all those may
collapse. You need to know. You need to know this city and know
how you may need to get outof here. And really and truly,

(23:26):
if the big one hits, youneed to be right with the creator because
there's there's a big, big chancethat if something hits the magnitude of what
they're talking about, I have aquestion. Yeah, what are you gonna
do with pets when the big onehits? That's it? Yeah, unfortunately,

(23:48):
no, no, no, inthe Andrews, Andrew's not wrong.
Andrew is not wrong. It's manypeople when it comes time, when it
comes time to get up and getghosts. You may not be able to
grab your pet. If you can, look, God bless you and your
pet. I understand your extended freefamily member. But you know, there
were a lot in case of pointIn the earthquake and the north Ridge quake,

(24:11):
there were a lot of misplaced animals. Why because people had to get
up and get out. I'm grabbingmy kids before I grab the dog.
I'm sorry. Do not send Kaylaa single talk back based on that.

(24:33):
Kayla. Look, as a matterof fact, we're gonna scratch that question.
I don't know why rivals over heretrying to start stuff. When we
talked about nature in the circle oflife, massive earthquake in California is part
of that. Yeah, yeah, that that does equate the circle of life.
And you know what, the animals, they may be able to find

(24:53):
for themselves. They probably have abetter chance of surviving than most humans.

your host, Twala Sharp. Andwe always must be on the lookout for
the threat of AI, even thoughAI is everywhere. I mean it's it's

(25:48):
literally everywhere, and it's in everysingle thing we do. If we have
our phones on us, our phonesare right now being inundated with different AI
programs. AI is in advertising,AI and filmmaking AI all over the place.
In California, there is a I'mnot gonna say it's a study,

(26:15):
but there's a warning. There's awarning, and California Attorney General Rob Bonta
wants to make sure that you knowhow widespread deep fake scams are AI deep
fake scams, and of course youknow there's all types of ways to avoid

(26:41):
them, but some of the topways to identify and avoid deep skate deep
fake AI scams. According to theCalifornia AG's office. Develop family code words
HMM interesting. Develop simple ways ofverifying if a family member is truly in

(27:03):
trouble before responding to phone calls forfinancial help or sharing personal information. Talk
with your family about designating safe words, or asking a question that only a
person would know to answer to that'sof course in your family. When creating
a question, be mindful that scammersmight have access to information from social media

(27:26):
and from other online sources. Sodon't say something like you know, what
did I post two days ago?No, because the scammers may know that.
Right. You should minimize personal audiovideo content on social media accounts.
Yes, anything with your voice onit, and too many videos of you

(27:48):
or videos that you may have oflike a family member doing or saying something.
Yeah, consider removing personal photos anddifferent things like that from video clips
and audio clips and from your children'ssocial media accounts. AI Scammers can use
these clips to create a clone ofyour loved one's voice and videos as well.

(28:11):
You can literally sample someone's voice andyou can use that to create content
audio content all right, check privacysettings. Strengthen privacy settings on social media
accounts so that strangers don't know factsabout your life and your current whereabouts.
So like, turn that tracker off. That lets folks know where you're at.

(28:33):
Not turn that off. Don't answerthe phone. See simple enough,
but you know, just don't.You may be I don't know who it
is. I'm gonna check. Ah. Let phone calls from unfamiliar numbers go
straight to voicemail because they're often illegalrobo calls anyway, right, don't trust

(28:53):
caller ID. Now, this issomething that blew my mind. We can't
trust caller ID. No, youcannot trust caller ID because phone numbers can
be spoofed to look like a familiarnumber from friends, family, or school,
district or government agency. Don't assumethat the caller ID is accurate,
and beware of anything that seems differentabout the caller if they ask for a

(29:17):
financial or personal information, which thatshould be a given, but some people
just like, yeah this is why, Yeah, this is my address.
Yeah, what what do you need? No, hang up the phone.
If you suspect that it is ascam call immediately immediately, don't try to
investigate. Don't because you know what, they are also getting access to your

(29:37):
voice, Like there is one wherethey will try to call you and get
you to say a yes or noanswer. They want you to say yes,
they want you to say no becausesometimes those are things that they can
use to clone your voice and makea phone call. And interestingly enough,

(29:57):
I got not long ago, Igot a scam call from someone that was
pretending to be a roofing company andhe was like, Hey, this is
such and such. We're doing afree roofing estimation in your neighborhood. Will
you be home tomorrow. We cancome by tomorrow and check out your roof
and make sure. And I'm like, who is this? He said,

(30:18):
Oh, this is such and suchA is this so and so and so
and so. I'm like, whyare you calling me again? I didn't
say anything about my name. Isaid, why are you calling again?
He said, well, we're callingto see if you're going to be home
tomorrow. And I'm like, yeah, I'll be home tomorrow. I'll be
home tomorrow, I'll be home allweek. Don't come by my house.
A roof is fine, and theyhung up. I called I did a
reverse search on the phone number, and the reverse search did not bring up

(30:42):
any business at all. Who wasn'tthen someone who was trying to get me
to say whether I was going tobe home or not. Someone who probably
got my address on the dark weband is like, hey, if this
dude says now I'm not gonna behome tomorrow, tomorrow's not gonna be a
good day to come by. Thenwhat they do is they know we've got
a house we can break into. That's how they try to target you.

(31:04):
So you got to be careful.Do not. Of course, don't click
on any suspicious, suspicious links.Anyone that sends me a tech text us
with a link saying check this out, I'm like, nah, I will
look it up online. I'll lookit up online and I'll find it.
And if I can't find it,then no. Of course, strengthen your
passwords, protect your social Security numberand other social sensitive information. Never give

(31:27):
any of that out period. Andbeware of government impersonators, Okay, beware
of anyone's saying, hey, we'recalling from the city or the government or
this, that and the other.Nah. You can check anything that anyone's
saying online, and I suggest youdo so before anyone calls. Even if
it's a bank. Hello, we'recalling from such and such bank. Your
account has been hacked. We justneed a little bit of information to verify

(31:49):
some transactions you made. Now,so you know what click and then go
online. Go online to your bankwebsite and check if your account's been hacked.
Call your bank directly through the numberon your bank's website. Don't trust
anyone that's calling you with anything. Why because AI is real. Coming up
