Temecula, and Marietta. This isSoul Cal Saturday. I'm your host,
Twyla Sharp, welcoming you to Yesanother Soul Cal Saturday Small Business Saturday
Spotlight. Today, I want tointroduce you to the Beauty Priestess. Yes.
(01:26):
At the Beauty Priestess, they providerelaxing, customized facials for all skin
types, facials, nano in fusionand dermal planning. And for this summer,
the Beauty Priestess is offering her BrazilianBombshell for waxing and sugaring. Yes,
and and and she even is offeringa twenty percent discount for you,
(01:49):
our soul cal Saturday listeners. Butlet me go on and get out of
the way and introduce you to theowner of the Beauty Priestess though, one
and only, Miss Australia Jones.Miss Jones, how are you doing today?
I'm doing rat I'm so happy andfauna to be invited and hi to
(02:12):
all the listeners of cares PI.Yes now, I am a beauty school
dropout. Yes. Before I gotinto the music industry, which ultimately led
to my thirty year radio career,I was a cosmatology student going to Pasadena
City College and I used to seethese young women walking around with these mannequin
(02:32):
heads all the time. And Istopped one day and I said, excuse
me, what is it you dobecause you're dressed like nurses, but you're
walking around with these mannequet heads. And they said, we are in cosmetology
and I said what is that andthey said, well, that is the
study of beauty and doing hair, facials, nails, all of that.
And I said, really, yougo to school for that because I had
(02:53):
no idea because in my neighborhood Ijust cut my friend's hair. And when
I discovers consmotogan that there was actuallycareers and pathways to doing it. Yes,
I enrolled immediately. I even gotup to like eleven hundred maybe eleven
hundred and fifty hours. I waseven on the floor doing here. I
was a master a wet sets andall of that. One thing that really
(03:15):
really intrigued me in how much goesinto it, because I thought facials and
things like that that's just putting onmakeup or touching people. Now there's a
lot that goes into the art offacials, the art of dermatology and all
of that, and there's a scienceto it. Tell me, Australia,
(03:36):
how did you get into this business? First of all, for the longest
time from where I used to livein the Philippines. I'm a makeup artist.
I do actresses, actors, Ido TV, I do editorial,
working magazines. I love making peoplelook and feel good. And on my
(03:57):
downtime I go to facials my selfto relate to myself. And I always
tell all my clients, like especiallyBribes to me, I said, prep
your skin, make sure you readyyour skin for events like this, and
it's just what because you know forme, skincare first, make up seconds.
(04:19):
Absolutely, and that is something thatI don't know if enough women actually
pay attention to. And sometimes Ieven tell my daughter because she's now at
the dage where she's getting into makeup, and I'm like, you have to
make sure before you put a singlething on your face that your face is
ready for it. You must makesure that you do all of your facial
(04:41):
cleansing techniques and everything first before youapply any makeup because lots of times that
is what leads to makeup related acneand things like that to break out all
of that. Oh, it's soit's so tough. Take me inside your
process and take me inside the beautyPriestess and what you do when a young
(05:02):
lady or or a young man walksin, because we men, we need
facials as well. Believe it ornot, Fellas a facial will change your
life, it really really will.I have had them and they are magnificent.
When we walk into the beauty Priestess, what comes first? How do
you get a set and ready foryour process? So they have to do
(05:29):
an intake form because I need toknow the things that they do they don't
do about their skin, if theyhave any allergies, any procedures that I
had, whether it's botox two weeksago, if they had like waxing and
the skin care routine. And thenafter I read it, they will come
into my room. We will doa first glance and then I will look
(05:53):
at their skin under the magnifiers anddo a little interviews because it will determine
what type of products, what typeof facials they really need based on what
I see on their skin. AndI really try to educate them because you
know, at the end of theday, I know what skin is.
I've seen a lot of skin,and I would say that I'm a real
(06:19):
skin influencer. You don't want todo it instead of them, you know,
getting their information from the social media. I would tell them because I'm
licensed, I'm always taking doctoral studieswith regards to skin care. I'm always
up today. Tell me what isone of the most common things that you
(06:44):
see when clients come in for atreatment at the beauty priestess. What is
the most common mistake you see peoplemaking with their skincare routine. There's two
people who overdo too much three thousanddifferent products under skincare, and those are
like not even barely using proper cleanserin between its swings really to the left
(07:13):
to the right. So people whouse too many products under skin, they
have like an altar at their housets, yes they have, and like,
oh, this is a new trin. They will go to this place,
they will get this thing recommended bysomebody, and at the end of the
(07:33):
day they will say, oh,I have sensitive skin. No, it's
not sensitive. It's sensitized because theyjust used too much products all at the
same time, not knowing whether itwill work for you. It may work
from your with your best friend, but your best friend doesn't have the same
skin as you. And those peoplewho are like I washed my face with
(07:55):
what it's so the stuff that theyused to all over their body and then
their face. They don't wear sunscreen. Oh so so many misteaks that are
made all the times. And sometimeswhen I see young ladies and I see
them wearing makeup, but yet Ican still see a lot of the acne
(08:15):
and damage underneath their makeup. Icry inside. It really hurts when I
see and I'm just like in mymind, I just want to say,
please, please, please go seesomeone. Go see someone who can get
your skin healthy and shining. Brightagain, that is what the Beauty Priestess
does. Take me inside your nanoinfusion process. What is that? Oh,
(08:37):
nano infusion. I love this. The beautiful thing with nano infusion is
that it's very safe, not invasive. What it does is we use this
tiny tiny homes. It pierces theonly the epidermis part of the skin.
(08:58):
No blood is involved, so ninetyseven percent of the active comedians get absorbed
into the skin. So, whetheryour problem is breakouts, I have so
rum for that. What are yourproblems hyperplegmentation? We will address that.
Yes, yes, indeed you area priestess. Tell me where is the
(09:22):
Beauty Priestess located? Where is yourclinic? Oh? Yes, so we're
here in Long Beach. Here atLong Beach, I'm inside Salon Road.
They operate our independent suite. Sothe address is one ninety five E fourth
Street, Sweet nineteen Beach, California, nine zero eight zero two. And
(09:48):
where can our listeners find you online? Do you have a website where they
can start the process of booking anappointment with you? Yes, Newtpristess dot
com because I'm by appointment only.Absolutely, absolutely, you cannot take walk
ins if you took walk ins,I would question every single thing that you
(10:09):
do because you cannot just have someonewalk in without knowing what you're getting into.
That's why I love the fact thatyou have an actual intake form to
actually assess what it is that youare going to be dealing with and what
it is that you need to do. And we thank you for what you
do. Miss Australia Jones the ownerof the Beauty Priestess where they provide relaxing,
(10:31):
customized facials for all skin types, facials, nano infusion which you just
heard about, derma planning and more. And for this summer, the Beauty
Priestess is offering her Brazilian Bombshell forwaxing and sugaring and in and again.
Right now she is offering you atwenty percent discount on services. You can
(10:52):
find out more information on her website. Give us the website again, Beautypristess
dot com. And all the listeners, they just need to use the code
at the end when they do theirbooking KFI. That's it and then I
would know, oh they're the listenersfrom KFI Automatical. They have twenty dollars
(11:13):
off from the services. There youhave it, Miss Australia Jones. Thank
you for taking us inside the worldof the beauty priestess and letting us know
how you are beautifying southern California.Thank you so much for joining us today.
Thank you, thank you so much. This is KFI AM six forty

Saturday. I am your host,Twalla Sharp. And in some other business
related news big business though this isn'tsmall business. This is big business.
(12:20):
Six Flags and Cedar Fair have completeda eight billion dollar merger six Flags,
which, of course, as youknow, right out there in Valencia is
Magic Mountain Cedar Fair on the otherside in the OC that is Notsberry Farm.
(12:41):
This is Hugh Mungus, Notsberry Farmand Magic Mountain are now part of
the same company. What I wantto know is are they going to be
not six Flags or are they goingto be six Flags dot Not. I
(13:01):
don't know. I don't know, like, how do you merge two gigantic
theme parks? And I'm gonna behonest here, I literally am not a
fan of either one, not sixFlags, not six Flags, not not
so very Farm. I have gottenover my need for thrill rides. When
(13:24):
I see a sign that says, you know, you must be in good
health and you know heart condition andthis, that and the other, I'm
like, why am I putting mylife into the hands of a roller coaster?
I have outgrown that now. Again, Look, when I was a
kid, like my kid's age, that was all about the amusement park,
(13:46):
even though six Flags was the themepark that we would go to to really
quote unquote holler girls, because that'swhere that's where all the hottest ladies went.
They all went to six Flags, you know, they all like the
short shorts. That's back when DaisyDukes were popping. And that's why we
were at six Flags Magic Mount. Now Knottsberry Farm, there's a lot of
(14:09):
families there. You weren't trying toholler kids. Even though Knotsberry Farm had
this long train ride around the park, and if you had the right date
and that train was going around,it was dark lock. I'm just saying
the train ride around Knottsberry Farm wasthat was a spot. You saw lots
of couples making out on this theirtrain back of the day. Look,
(14:33):
and I'm not innocent, Kayler.I was on that train. I was
making out. That's why I wason there. That's why I like knots
But I didn't ever say, oh, man, let's go to Knotsberry Farm.
Now I know Knotsberry Farm. Theytook it to the next level with
some of their roller coasters. Theyhave one. It might be called Death
Becomes You. I don't know whatit is. All I know is it
(14:56):
takes off with the speed of likea fighter jet. I don't know what
it's called. But the last timeI went to Knotsbury Farm, it was
with the fam, of course, and my son wanted to get on it,
and no one else wanted to geton it with them, and this
thing look like it looked like hellon will So I said, you know
what, I'm not gonna let youride this by yourself. I don't like
(15:16):
roller coasters. I don't like whatthey do to me. I'm gonna get
on it with you, though I'mnot gonna let you ride this thing alone.
So we get on there, andthe whole time I won't think of
myself, jeezus, why am Idoing this? But look he was all
excited. Oh Dad, we're gonnaget on this. We get on this
thing and they tell you please putyour head all the way back firmly against
(15:39):
the headrest, and I'm like, okay, cool, cool. We do
that, and they're like three twoboom. This thing takes off like a
bat out of hell it and itdoes this high, high speed towards this
vertical loop, like straight up,and it goes all the way up and
(16:00):
around and I'm on and this thingis I mean, my heart is in
my throat. It is super thrilling. We get to the end of this
thing and my son has passed out. He got a concussion riding this ride.
He was knocked out. I'm freakingout. I didn't know what.
I'm like, well, well well, and they're like it's okay, sir.
(16:21):
They brought smelling salts over. Whydo the ride attendees have smelling salts?
Because this happens a lot. Thisis not something that's like unknown.
They're like, yeah, yeah,it happens they're given this. Of course,
at this point my son is likedone, He's done. He doesn't
want to get anything else. Hewants to get out of the pipe.
It's accelerator. The accelerator. Thatis it that that rides you, but
(16:45):
that that it should come with amore severe warning. At the take off
it's zero to eighty two miles perhour like a and then eighty two miles
an hour up a vertical loop andthen it just loops and loops and two
point three seconds. Jesus, Yeah, that's It's why I don't go to
(17:07):
not Very Farm anymore. What aboutthe funnel cake at both places? Yeah,
the funnel cake at both places fire. The funnel cake is fire.
And again, look, I'm nothating on Magic mount even though to me,
Madgic mount is where all of theyoung thugs go. Now, like
to me, if you go toMadgic Mountain, just look, I don't
(17:27):
have the patience some of these youngpunk kids line cutting and stuff like that.
And I'm at that age where I'mgonna be in something that Mark Ronner
reports saying, you know, fathergets into brawl at Magic Mountain with a
bunch of kids. That's me becauseyou cut in front of me or disrespect
me. I'm that dude who's like, now, I'm the guy I put
my hands on both sides of therails and dare someone to try to walk
(17:51):
with the excuse me. I'm like, I'm the one who says, you're
excused, your excuse. I gottacatch you with my friends. You'll see
them at the end. I'm thatdude. You're that dude, that dude,
I kid, I'm not you cutin front of me after I've been
waiting in line. My friend's upthere. It's fight to see him at
the end. You should out havegotten out of line. You are correct,
that is the correct response to them. Mark Wait, no, noa
(18:14):
yeah, yeah yeah. Look looklook I already know where Mark's coming from.
Mark knows little young punks. That'sthat's an ask. Yeah, you
can keep your old butts out ofthe out of the theme park. But
that's why, that's why I'll go. But this, but this merger,
this is for people like you,Keiley, you and your sister and all
your young folks, kids, whippersnappers, a little Similac on your breath
going on these rides. This merger, though, this merger is is major
(18:37):
and uh and I cannot wait tosee what it does for Southern California,
because Yeah, this is big,big business. This is KFI AM six

everywhere on the iHeartRadio app and RollingHills, San Dimas, Palm Springs and
Hysparea. This is soul Cal Saturday. I'm Hell's twelve shar I'm taking a
look at. Yes, some funthings to do around so Cal this July.
I love, love, love moviesin the Park. When my kids
(19:33):
were younger, that was one ofour favorite things to do. Just go
and check out a movie in thepark. Movies in the Park in Riverside,
Friday, July twelfth, nineteenth andtwenty six. Bring a chair,
bring a blanket, hang out onthe lawn. Movies begin at dusk.
I believe they have Wonka playing atReed Park, which is seven oh one
(19:56):
North Orange Street. That is Julytwelfth. Come fud PENA four at Brian
Park, seventy nine fifty Philippin Avenue, All right, that's the July nineteenth
Trolls Band Together. That's at LincolnPark forty six or forty two sixty one
Park Avenue. That's July twenty sixth. Look, just if you find a
(20:18):
movie playing in the park, justcheck your local park. And it's just
such a fun outing. It's oneof those things where, especially if you've
got little kids, it's not somethingwhere you know's parents are like, oh
my god, these kids are runningaround being right, blah blah, you're
really not there for the movie. These are movies that we've all seen,
we've all taken our little kids togo see. So this isn't like,
you know, world premiere movies inthe park. No, this is just
(20:40):
the time for your kid to gorun around the park. They may spend
their time at the playground where you'resitting talking to another parent you know,
and share. Next thing, youknow, you're making a parental connection.
So movies in the park are alwaysfun. Long Beach Municipal Band concerts are
happening now through the forty through thethirty first Music to My Ears is the
theme. No no, no,that one already passed. Let's see which
(21:04):
one is the one coming out okay. July ninth, sixteenth, and twenty
third at Bixby Avenue Park and thenJuly eleventh, eighteenth at Recreation Park and
July twelfth, nineteenth, and twentysixth at El Dorado Park. This is
where the Long Beach Municipal Band willbe playing their music to My Ears theme.
(21:26):
What else is happening here, Kayla? The Archer Museum. That's so
I swell if you want to learna little bit about the history of Los
Angeles at the Archer Museum. NortonSimon. I love the Norton Simon and
the Norton Simon is in Pasadena. It's literally on Colorado. It is one
of the coolest museums you will goto. They have the thinker outside.
(21:48):
Is that the guy that dated withhis hand on his chin? The original
one or like a replica? Ibelieve it's a replica. Oh I still
want to say. I don't knowif it's the original, but it looks
damn damn close. It's like rightout there front. So if you have
never been there, you absolutely shouldgo. It is free monthly, free
monthly on the first Fridays from fourto seven, so you can't beat free
(22:10):
ninety nine. I know, Kaylin, I know you. We were just
talking don Fair about you've never beento a drive through I have never been
to a drive through a theater. There are there are still, there's still
a few. I think the lastone I went to was the Electric Dusk
drive through Theater. That one isreally cool. There's like two or three
still here in southern California. Justgoogle, you know, driving theaters out
(22:33):
here. That's one of the besttimes. The thing is, I feel
like only certain movies are meant tobe seen in the drive through are driving
and I've never been, so Iwant to have the perfect movie and the
perfect vibe for the for the drivein style. Is that not true?
No, no, no no,because I've seen we last time we went
to see Spider Man Into Spider Verse. That was good. I've seen the
(22:57):
Five Heart Beats. That was good. Back to the Future, Back to
the Future in the car. That'swhat I'm thinking, like a nostalgic movie,
like an old movie. Maybe ifthey do like Little Shop of Hers,
I would love to see that vatI promise you that might be playing
somewhere this summer. We've got tofind that we could get Yeah, that
one. Absolutely have to check thatout. Second Saturday art Walk and Pomona.
(23:21):
That's going down July thirteenth. It'sa monthly event. But it's like,
you know, art and the streets, art and the streets where galleries
and shops still open late. Wasthat one one one nine West Second Street,
Pomona. Find out more about themat Downtown Pomona or dot or org.
I like that. I like different. You know this date stuff,
and you go on a date, you want to, you know, press
(23:42):
somebody. Oh, let's go checkout the art walk. Let's go check
out some art and get cultured. That's all. It's the perfect season for
a nice little flinging. You couldjust do these things just every week with
whoever you choose. It's fine. All this global warming is just making the
weather for outside dates perfect, especiallyhere in California, where we are again
just about a mile and a halfaway from the sun. Most days it
(24:06):
is beautiful. OC Park's Sunset Cinema. I'm not familiar. I have never
been to the OC Park Sunsets Cinema, but it is happening in July twelfth,
nineteenth, and twenty six. Thisis another outdoor movie thing where the
show start around six pm sunset orwhatever. They're showing trolls bound together,
(24:29):
they're showing Barbie. Okay, ifyou haven't seen Barbie, right, you
can go see Barbie. That's Julynineteenth at Yorba Regional Park and National Treasure
taking it to Old School July twentysixth at Yorba a Regional Park. So
all right, looks that's some funthings going on. But if you are
into anime like I am, Ithink there's one more day left of the
(24:51):
Anamo Expo at the La Convention Center, and the Anime Expo is of course
all things anime. I mean,it is a celebration of anime. It's
the thirty third year of it beinghere in La usually is July fourth weekend,
and it is literally again everything ona man. I believe there still
(25:15):
are some single day tickets available fortomorrow and lots of times when it comes
to the Sunday shows at expos andthings like that, it's kind of when
it winds down, But look, there are still plenty to see, plenty
guests that will be there, andI believe there's a couple of premiere screenings
that are gonna be I don't knowwhich ones off the top, but I
remember seeing some some really really coolpremieres that we're gonna be happening on Sunday,
(25:40):
So you can find out more aboutthat at www dot Autimexpo dot org.
That's autome Hyphenexpo dot org, socheck it out if you're into anome.
I know when I get off workevery Saturday night, that is how
me and my son that that's likeour quality time, our bonding time.
We sit and we watch the lateThis anime just finished Demon Slayer, Oh
(26:03):
my god, that the finale wasamazing, and of course Kaiju number eight,
which is now our favorite anime.I think tonight all we have is
one piece, and I know wehave some more. My hero Academia,
which is that that's a stellar, stellar show. We'll probably find something new
to get into. So it's animeeavenings. That's what I do. I
(26:26):
don't know what you may want toget into, but I do know that
super producer Kayla is going to havesome of these events listed on the website,
so you can always head on overthere and find out more. You're

I'm your host, Twola Sharp, closing out the show with something for dog
lovers, Something for the dog lovers. I don't know if you've seen them,
(27:30):
but all over the place, hereand there and everywhere, these signs
are popping up no dog pea signs. They're everywhere. Why Well, because
individuals who have nice, beautiful lawns, they are tired of you letting your
(27:51):
dogs just go wee all over theirlawns. Does it kill the grass?
I don't know, you know,it could be fertilizing grass. But these
signs are up everywhere. The questionis can this actually be enforced? I
mean, technically, according to therules, if you allow your dog to
(28:15):
go on someone's yard and do theirbusiness, you are trespassing. You're trespassing,
right And even though these signs, you know, very passive aggressive in
nature, you know, as ifyou know you'd rather the dogs pee on
the sidewalk. Oh of mean,I would say maybe just go to the
curb, go to the other sideof the sidewalk, pee in the grass
(28:36):
over there. So it is passiveaggressive, but no one can call the
police. No one can call thecops and say, you know, officer
Johnson, get down here and arrestthis dog going on for letting their dog
whiz all over my lawn. Youcan't do that. It's not gonna happen.
Even though there you can. Ifyou run into a really really really
(29:04):
retentive police officer. There's a wordthat goes before retentive, but just retentive
police officer, they can ticket youallow for if they catch you allow your
dog to poop on someone's lawn andyou don't pick it up, you can
get a ticket for that. Uhlaws, Yeah, that exists. I
(29:25):
just wanted to bring this this upthough, really and truly not because I
care about necessarily dog owners and walkingtheir dogs and allowing them to go places.
I wanted to bring this story upbecause you don't have to deal with
this with cats. You absolutely donot. Cats can live inside and they
(29:48):
know to go into their little box, their little litter box. Because cats,
I believe, are way way moreintelligent than dogs. They're also a
lot more lovable. They do notrequire you to walk them. They walk
themselves. They're they're they're creatures ofpure freedom, you know. And if
(30:11):
you have a cat and you haveit's love. I can tell you this
for a fact. You're a goodhuman being. Do you know what it
takes to earn the trust and respectand love of a cat? Look,
dogs just you know, feed meon a lick, you you know,
walk me scratching. Dogs are simple. Dogs are simple. I'm sorry,
(30:32):
you know, I know they say, yeah, No, dogs are really
smart. Yeah, they can dotricks and things like that. Cats are
above that. Pray, cats dotricks when they want to. And cats
are like, they're just self reliant. So I just want to put out
there that I am a cat lover, proud cat lover. Even tho I'm
allergic to them, I still lovethem. Mark Ronner is a cat lover.
(30:52):
We exchange cat photos and cat videos. What's not to love? I
mean, seriously, that the life. I'm proud of it. So you
know, if you get a ticketfor allowing your dog to go to the
bathroom on someone's lawn, that's onyou, all right. Coming up next
week, we have another small businessjoining us. But who who can it
(31:15):
be? Roll spinning the wheel? We have ria Elon. They celebrate beautiful
or cell beautiful artwork created by herdaughter and merchandise like baby onesies, adult
T shirts, phone cases, andso much more. We're going to learn
(31:36):
more when you have them on nextweek. Say the name again, who
ria Elon? Ria Elon? Isthat the person is at the company?
That's the company? That is thecompany? Is the company also the person?
Yep, Okay, it's a soundlike that. The company's name is
the name, and I'm like itsounds like it's the name of the person.
(31:59):
So okay, Hey, sure,I cannot wait to find out about
them and their onesies and their phonecases and this beautiful daughter made artwork.
Don't you miss it. It's goingdown next week right here on soul cal
Saturday. Super producer Kayla, thankyou for another fantastic show. Rall holding
(32:19):
it down on the board. Markalways good to see your beautiful face,
your cat photos and videos on theway. Yes, thank you also for
tuning in. We truly appreciate youtaking the time to hang out with us.
We know you could have been doinganything else under the sun, but
you chose to spend this time withus, and we truly, truly appreciate
