Speaker 2 (00:04):
Next up? It's the next man up.

Speaker 3 (00:06):
Next stop, the next step, take the next step, next up.

Speaker 4 (00:10):
Stop next, next stop.

Speaker 5 (00:12):
This tea wants to be next. This is Next Up
with Tad Northfleeten Chris Gordy. Let's see what's next, next next.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Good morning on a Tuesday.

Speaker 6 (00:25):
That's the voice of Sean Salisbury as the Sewn Salisbury
Show continues into Next Up as a prelude for the
next two hours. That's what we do here on Sports
Talk seven ninety New to the station, New to the show, Welcome,
Thanks for those that are returning for second time or more.
Stand Northfleet Show hosts me to my left, my radio
partner Chris Gordy. On the other side of the glass

(00:45):
there there's Connor d McGovern. Appreciate him and his production
and programming prowess. Let's have a good time, shall we?
As a very important day around here in the city
of Houston. As our Texans have aspirations of winning a
Super Bowl. I will not move off that into like
see reason and fit to do so. To go play
and win a Super Bowl, you gotta have a roster
fifty three. And that is where Nick Cassio and Demico

(01:07):
Ryans will get that bunch down to by three pm
local time today. We will get you the live updates
on as they come in on what's going on around
the league. The Texans were very quiet officially. They only
made one cut yesterday. They are often working today. I'm
looking at some things we'll get to momentarily from our
very own Aaron Wilson. Also Astros in action last night,

(01:33):
and here we go with extra innings and our Astros.
They are back in Philadelphia for the first time since
the twenty twenty two World Series and Bryce Harper walks
it off. Astros come up short by a run there
in the bottom of the tenth. We will dissect what
happened and what they need to happen for the remainder

(01:54):
of this series. We'll spend a considerable amount of time
in the NFL this morning, gentlemen. Some college football nuggets
as well, but obviously cde Lamb up at Dallas with
the Cowboys signs a historic deal. Speaking of signing and representation,
I happen to know CD's agent toward Dan Defca is
a very good friend of mine. I congratulatory message went
out to him. Derek Stingley Jr. As we all know,

(02:17):
change agents. Yesterday. We didn't get into it, Gordy, but
we saw it after the show, and that may have
some tentacles. We're talking two a year to two years
from now. We'll get into that as well. Whatever you
guys want to get to us well seven one three
two one two five seven ninety. Before I go into
my soliloquy, Gordy, good morning to you. How you feeling

(02:39):
as we get going on a Tuesday?

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Good They sent me in here, need you to get
your playbook and come down to coach his office.

Speaker 6 (02:45):
So I'm not laughing at that. It's not funny. It's
that day though. It is that day, so it's fun today.
It is funny that you bring that up, gord I
don't know if you know this about me and we
maybe we got into it a year ago about this time,
and I share the story. We got new listeners as
the show continues to grow. Thank you all. We're going
in the right direction. So this is circa two thousand

(03:09):
and nine and I had just my contract with the
Dallas Cowboys had just expired. We were trying to sell
out at and T Stadium as they just put the
facility up in Arlington, and so I'm on the phone
speaking of agents. I'm on the phone with the New
York Jets, and I'm on the phone with the Washington

(03:31):
professional football team that was called something else at the time,
and I'm trying to decide where am I gonna go.
Am I gonna continue my track on the business side,
Gordy and go to what has now Met Life Stadium
as they were constructing that, Or am I gonna go
to Washington where they're pulling me into the personnel department

(03:51):
officially to become a scout. I elect with a pregnant girlfriend.
Mind you, I elect one of the most Gordy real talk.
You know. I get personal, one of the most stressful
times of my life, most money I've ever made in
my life working for Jerry Jones. Forever grateful for that opportunity,
But now I'm facing it. Do I go work for
Woody Johnson in New York? Or do I go work

(04:12):
for some dude named Dan Snyder. Dan Snighter is not
paying money. Woody Johnson's gonna continue that Jerry train. My
dumb ass chose to go to Washington. Why because a
young Northfleet had aspirations to be general manager of a
football team. To do that, you got to know personnel,
all right. So I'm in Washington and Gordy, you're familiar

(04:33):
with this term. You all have seen hard knocks the turk.
Who's the guy that's got to go around and inform
dudes that the GM wants to see him because they're
about to get cut. Well, Vinnie Serrato, who now does
radio in the Baltimore area, Vinnie Serrado was then the
GM of Washington's pro football franchise. He summons me to

(04:53):
his office. He tells me, Stamp, I hear good things
about you. You're very astute as a player. To have
you in Washington. You want to cut your teeth in
this business. You gotta go learn how to do this.
I said, learn how to do what. You're passionate about
the game. But I also see you fragnizing with these
other players that are your same age. This is a
twenty something year old stand Northfleet. Hey go cut your

(05:17):
college roommate as your very first cut ever in the
history of the National Football League. A man that was
living with me, a man that I knew and know
his story intimately, who had a pregnant girlfriend now wife
at the time. Why would the coach of GM not
do it. That's not how this works. Cassario has people

(05:38):
that report to him. Those are folks like myself. You
have in house scouts who are part of what they
would consider pro scouting. You go scout the future opponents.
Then you have the college scouts. Those are guys that
are out going to the schools on the road. They
send in reports to guys like me. Part of my
duties also was making sure that Dan Snyle had a

(06:00):
running list of if this left guard goes down during
practice or this game. He had a card that was
laminated in his poket that I produced every day that says,
here are the next three guards that will go get
That was part of my responsibilities as well as cutting dudes.
So my very first cut was a man that I knew,

(06:21):
and that is where many of you get on me,
and I get the text messages and I get the
tweets every day every other day. For sure, Stan, you
don't fan out like we do. Staying, Oh you're not
pro Houston, Staying you always hated. I just got one
about Case Kingdom, Oh you hate Case.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
I don't. What I'm telling this story is is really twofold. One.

Speaker 6 (06:42):
I want you to understand how and why I approach
this job the way that I do. Vinceerrado taught me
two things about being a scout in a GM in
the National Football League. Number One, you don't fall in
love with any player, any team, anybody. These are assets
that have a monetary value associated. Are there human stories, yes,

(07:04):
But sitting in the GM seat, these are jersey numbers.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Okay.

Speaker 6 (07:11):
The other thing he says is when you watch a
play on tape, you don't write the story of what
you want the player to be. You write the story
of what do you see on the screen. Jersey number
eighty one, c J jersey number seven, Jersey number seven,
throws this, his feet, does that, his decision making sense this,
And then you get into all the other intangibles about

(07:32):
what his leadership skill is, like his tone, How does
he you know, put together passing camps in all season,
getting all that stuff. That's a nick since the player,
you know what the player does the player. I'm glad
you brought that up.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
He has a name, right.

Speaker 6 (07:47):
Nick Cassario comes from the Bill Belichick line of thinking.
Bill Belichick's come from the Bill Parcells line of thinking.
I was around not only parcels, I was around al grow.
This is how those type of men think, all right,
So when I think about the thing that's going to
take place as I start this show today and we'll
get to the most recent cuts here in a second, Gord,

(08:08):
if you'll pull up Aaron Wilson, because they just kind.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
Of go on, got a pretty cute.

Speaker 6 (08:11):
So my heart breaks for those men, and many of
you will get caught up in staying he made one
hundred thousand dollars last year, or he made three thousand
dollars a month during training camp, three thousand dollars a
week during training camp. You're gonna eat caught up in
the money. Some of these men will never play again.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
Done. Some of these men their dreams and aspirations come
to a close. It's over.

Speaker 6 (08:42):
Think about whatever you've ever dreamt about, Gordon, you may
be in your dream job. I am very close. Like
there is a human side to this, So my heart
grieves for the families that need that money. These men
go to work just like you and I. They need
that though not everybody over there has got this ceed
Lamb contract, obviously, So my heart breaks for the men

(09:03):
that unfortunately, is not gonna happen for him. There will
be men that are cut that will go play and
have successful careers for other teams. But this part sucks,
and so I don't have gratification and I'm not gonna
make fun of being the turk.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
It's not cool.

Speaker 6 (09:19):
Somebody over there with the Texas has got to go
tell these men bring your playbooks.

Speaker 7 (09:23):
When when Hard Knocks did the Texans say, I guess
Scott's been almost a decade now.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
When Bill O'Brien was here. I mean it was Bill O'Brien.

Speaker 7 (09:30):
They would bring him into the office and they knew
what was up, you know, and it was always awkward
bringing bring in your playbook, But it was Bill O'Brien. Hey, look,
you know, John, I'll tell you man, you've been great
to all this camp. But we're moving on for me today.
Best of luck, tea, you know. But it was Bill
O'Brien himself doing all that.

Speaker 6 (09:46):
That's very rare and now, and it may have been
just for the TV since it was you know, so
on Hard Knocks in Dallas, Jerry does the cuts, but
Jerry tells somebody to go get the player, and the
player is brought to Jerry, and they all do the
same thing, because what they teach you when you're sitting
in the GM chair is they say, hey, be mindful

(10:07):
and this is just how I operate in life.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
Period.

Speaker 6 (10:09):
Be careful about burning bridges because some of these guys
that you cut, you're gonna need some of these dudes
down the road. Perhaps some of these dudes are represented
by agents that you want to have healthy relationships with.
You're gonna need to do future deals with these agents,
so you gotta keep all of that stuff in mind
when you're dealing. And it's called h CM. Human capital

(10:31):
management is the acronym, and that's a part of this deal.
So again, we'll see what happens. I'm gonna ask you
to hold a Gordy on the other side. Now that
I've done that.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
Yeah, we got about four or five dudes from the
Texans getting real waste. All right.

Speaker 6 (10:47):
On the other side, we'll do a deep dive and
there's also scudder but about a particular Texans wide receiver
that could be on the move. A lot of running
back talked yesterday. More NFL to come right here with
real Texans talk and listen Sports Talk seven.

Speaker 5 (10:59):
Ninety up and back up now down door.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
Plat and Chris Gordy on Next up on Sports Talk
seven ninety.

Speaker 6 (11:13):
Emotional start to Sports Talk seven nineties. Next up, appreciate
your hanging out with Gordon and myself along with Connedy mcgovernent.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
I just hate it.

Speaker 6 (11:21):
It's a necessary I don't want to call it evil
because there are some men who lives are gonna change
because they make the team. We got to celebrate those
brothers as well as It's cut down day by three
pm local time. Texans got to have their fifty three
ready to go. A lot of teams started the process yesterday,
Texans not so much. We do have updates on where
the Texans are that I'll go to here in Jesse. Second,

(11:42):
but just a couple of things. I was mentioning my
introduction into the personnel world of the NFL from a
team side, from an executive side, and not so much
as a player. I remember one time cut a dude
and we had to go get security, Gord to the
dud wouldn'tlead a building. The dude was threatening to beat
the hell out of the head coach and the GM like.
We literally had to get the police in there to

(12:04):
get the dude out the building. Oh, we've got a
similar thing here. Yeah, we're gonna have another one if
you don't watch your tone, sir, what messing?

Speaker 1 (12:11):
All right? The second thing is once, but twice get
the reason of building security some of these places you
have to.

Speaker 6 (12:18):
Uh, the guy that was my roommate, that was my
first cut in the league, I had to go find him.
I had to get into the team SUV one of
the fleet and I had to go like drive around
and find a dude. I had to go get his playbook.
This was before they were loading stuff on the iPad
and all of that, of course, so like there was
a physical playbook, had to go get it from him.

(12:39):
And it just these dudes can't emotionally handle. This is
the first time a team is telling them in their lives.
This is the first time somebody's telling you I don't
want you to play for me.

Speaker 7 (12:49):
But let's be real, don't you kind of don't Most
guys kind of know, No, don't you If you're a
fifth round pick and you've had a rough trading camp,
you're missing, don't you kind of know?

Speaker 6 (13:00):
I ain't making Gord. Every man out there believes they're
going to be the exception. Every man out there believes
I'm going to hit the lottery. I'm going to be
the one rags to riches story. A dude that y'all
have never heard of, James Harrison. When he was going
back and forth between the Baltimore Ravens practice squad and
the Pittsburgh practice squad, getting cut, back and forth, cut cut, cut, cut,

(13:22):
Harrison believed that one day he would become a damn.

Speaker 7 (13:26):
But I'm saying, don't you have to be real with
yourself to support if you're if you're a middle round
picking you felt like you killed it, then yes, and
you get cut, yes, absolutely, you're shocked. But I'm saying
if you went through training camp and coaches on your
ass and you're getting beat and every drill you were like, god, damn,
that's not You still think you're gonna make the fifty
year even though you put crap out there on the fence, Yes, no,

(13:47):
it's not.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
You got to be real with yourself, Gordon.

Speaker 6 (13:49):
There's a reason men like me and others, and I'm
talking about in your respective fields. This we're talking about
athletics here. You put yourself in position by thinking you
are by believing, Okay, I had a bad three days
of practice, but if I get an opportunity, these next
five days will be better than those three days. Your
mindset must be I am one of the best at

(14:11):
the position on this team and in the league. Now
you understand Xavier Hutchison knows he's not CD Lamb, but
he must approach every day going out there. When he
takes the field, Hutchison looks at Stefan Diggs and he believes,
with the right amount of opportunities, I can give y'all
what Diz gives you. He has to believe that. But
he also knows those three guys are all ahead of me.
I'm not better right now than Nico Collins, Stefon Diggs,

(14:33):
or Tank that he knows that. So there are politics
in NFL. And I tell y'all this every year to
start the season two. Don't you ever believe the eleven
that run out on the field are the best eleven
on college rosters, on NFL rosters. Politics unpact your workplace,
They impact mine in my industry, and they impact what
goes on over there at NRG and the rest of
the league. Don't ever think the most talented eleven on

(14:54):
the team are running out there at a given time.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
It's just not true.

Speaker 6 (14:57):
And you won't find me a single player Indy Kalu,
Greg Cook, Sean Salisbury and anybody else like myself that
had played at a high level.

Speaker 1 (15:05):
We'll tell you that that's the trump is.

Speaker 7 (15:06):
Just explain that a little bit, because if you're a
co coach and your job is on the line, you
need to put the lasts out there. You would think
the exception of I could see you take a first
round Oh, who's my guy, Kenyan Green, the first round
draft pick. They're gonna run him out of left guard.
And there may be during this camp somebody who showed
better at left guard, but the reality is he was
the first round pick. We gotta go lots of politics

(15:29):
that I could kind of see.

Speaker 6 (15:30):
Sure, here's another one. It happens all the time. I'm
a late round pick. They go get a street free
agent from Seattle. That guy in Seattle used to be
coached by the current linebacker coach here in Houston, so
they have a rapport. I might be out because they
have a rapport. Some gms like dealing with that agent

(15:53):
because they know Derek Stingley Jr. Just traded agents or
traded he just fired one agent and hide another. He's
gonna be re presented by David Mortgetta. Stingley smartly signs
David Morgedta. Guess why because Stingley's gonna want his money.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
Guess who. CJ.

Speaker 6 (16:07):
Stride is represented by a deal that is going to
change the landscape we believe of the National Football League.
I'm gonna go sign with the guy that knows exactly
what CJ is gonna command because what CJ makes impacts
my dollars.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
It was a very astute move.

Speaker 6 (16:21):
Nick Cassario smartly ingratiates himself with a dude like David
Mogeta toward Dandy and others. The politics impact who's on
your roster at times.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
That's just how the league.

Speaker 6 (16:33):
I still think, overall, you're putting out the best. You're
telling me what you think. I'm telling y'all, I've been paid,
I've been in the building. I'm saying that to your point.
There are exceptions, there are a ton of them.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
But I think overall, are you listening?

Speaker 4 (16:44):
No?

Speaker 6 (16:44):
Overall, are you listening? No, You're you're fanning out and
you're not listening.

Speaker 7 (16:50):
What coach is gonna go, I'm gonna put a starting
wide receiver out there who I know sucks. I know
I got a better player behind him, but he's good.
Best buddy's with my buddy from college, so I'm gonna put.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
Him out there. Like what world did that?

Speaker 6 (17:00):
Bobby Carpenter was taken by Bill Parsals in the first
round out of Ohio State. The play linebacker Bill Parcells
and Bobby Carpenter's dad were college best friends. All of
us knew in Dallas in real time when I got
there in seven that Bobby could not play. I respect
Bobby Carperer. He made more of an NFL career than
I ever did. Respect, But the bottom line is, sometimes

(17:23):
I wish you would concede your fandom to people like
myself and others that have been in the building, have
done the job, have played the game. Politics matters, It
matters in this business.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
Program.

Speaker 6 (17:36):
Directors that do what you do, Gordy, they hire talent
all the time all over the country that can't play,
can't play, that can't hold shows. They're not good, but
they liked the dude. It happens. The people that are
listening to us work with folks or have hired people.
That's my frat brother, that's my sister's boyfriend's cousin, that's
my great uncle, and he's adequate or service. But the

(17:57):
position or she is, I'm going.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
To hire her. We have so many coaches getting fired
all the time because they're stupid.

Speaker 7 (18:03):
Because that's dumb. You got to put the best eleven people.
That's what you're you with the game, that's what you
would do.

Speaker 1 (18:08):
At the end of the day.

Speaker 6 (18:09):
I gotta win games, and they believe they can win
games by doing the political I used to work in
retail years ago. I was a manager. My buddies wanted jobs.
I would not hire my buddies because I said, you
can't do this job for me. I need the best
people that can work for me. I'm not hiring you,
and I respect that. I'm just saying, when you sit
in Casario see or you sit in Domico c it

(18:31):
is not always that cut and dry. Uh were there.
It's an election year and I'm not gonna get all political.
But one of the reasons, how do I say this.
I didn't agree with Barack Obama and all of the policies,
but Barack Obama talked us and talking about as a
black community. Sometimes you have to do the politics. You
have to get along to go along. There's a give

(18:53):
and take that happens. This permeates in the NFL as well.
And I didn't think you and I would spend that
long on that because I really want to get to
who got whacked.

Speaker 1 (19:01):
And who didn't?

Speaker 7 (19:02):
All right, going to Bobby Carver, did suck few notes
here for the Texans, they are well, let's start here.

Speaker 1 (19:10):
This was earlier this morning.

Speaker 7 (19:11):
Aaron Wilson put out a list at first guy's cut,
sol Darius Payne, he was waived and injured, mcklvin, Agum,
Tyreek Barnes, Jacob Phillips, Dieter Iceland. So some of those
we had heard late yesterday. The names this morning Troy
Pride junior defensive back CJ. Henderson, former first round pick
from the Jaguars, So they brought it along with Jeff Okuda.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
CJ. Henderson is cut.

Speaker 7 (19:35):
This in the last twenty minutes or so, Texans waving
injured tight Antiguan Quetiano, a former Nick Casseiro draft pick.
That one's not surprising from a standpoint of we know
they like you know, we know Dalton Schultz's back. We
know that they still like Brevin Jordan, and they took
Kate Stover in the fourth round. As soon as they
took Kate Stover in the fourth round, Sorry Teagan, You're gone.

(19:57):
And then just in the last ten minutes, TeX's releasing
Ben Skeronic. So that giving up that sixth round pick
for Ben Scaronic, they are releasing him.

Speaker 6 (20:08):
Well, let's tell the full details. And I was wrong
on Skaranick. He did battle through some injuries. He did
not have a good camp. That it was the Rams
sent us Skronic and a seventh. Nick Casario sent them
a six. So that's good value. Nick, I would say
one that deal, the player didn't pan out. You wash
your hands from that standpoint. As we close out this segment,

(20:29):
we'll keep talking about this on the other side. Seven
one three two one two five seven ninety Biscuit and
Bill I see y'all take your calls on the other side.
One of the things I'll be curious of with Skronic,
will he get waved, get cut he's waved clear waivers
go unclean, and will the Texans bring him back once
they see how the rest of the dust settles. Something

(20:50):
that would be mindful because some guys gonna get cut
and then re sign with their teams.

Speaker 5 (20:54):
All right.

Speaker 6 (20:54):
I can tell you the team that I signed with
on a very regular basis, and I believe you should too,
base on what your residential and or commercial real estate
needs are from a construction standpoint.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
Mind you, JB.

Speaker 6 (21:07):
Thibodeaux Homes and Properties are not your average home builder.
Their blueprints are designed to save you both time and
money wherever you're trying to get something done across the
city of Houston. Maybe you're pushing up north up forty
five a little bit, or headed out west where I
will be on Saturday, into the high Country. They have
the experience as third generation builders. They know how to

(21:29):
save you time and money. I assure you they will,
excuse me, bring your real estate vision to reality, whether
you're talking new home construction, residential remodels, or commercial bills.
Really good people. That's important to me. We talk so
much about the Texans and the type of person they
want in the building. I can tell that the good
people over at JB. Thibodeaux Homes and Properties go above

(21:51):
and beyond because they believe in treating you right no
matter where you are in the real estate or construction process.
Go to Jbthibodeau dot com Intel tell them stand fleet said,
what up? Jbtipodeau dot com.

Speaker 5 (22:04):
Next Up continues on your phone.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
Listen to Sports Talk seven ninety on any device with
our free iHeartRadio apps.

Speaker 6 (22:15):
Half an hour into a Next Up. Thanks to everybody
that allows us. Locked in in the whip pre set
number one on the audio down. It's an important day
around here in the sports spectrum city Houston. We will
talk astros. I know that is also top of mind.
Roster cutdown day, Caserio and Demico doing some work at
NRG already as the names. Probably the most notable over

(22:37):
there is being Scaronic, a guy that was traded for
from the Rams or wide receiver H back special team.
I thought he would make the team. Didn't have a
great camp, banged up a little bit. As the same
for Quentin Quentin Quatoriano tag Quatoriano, Thank.

Speaker 7 (22:54):
You, formerly pick one seventy in twenty twenty two, a
fifth round ten of uh what's his name? Nick Cassario
and company. So you know it's it's always interesting when
they decided to move on from a guy. Now his
his was very much injury related. It's just when he
was healthy, he was pretty good player that they liked him,

(23:15):
They liked you know, his development, but god, he could
stay healthy. And you know in the meantime, you had
signed Dalton Schultz on that one year deal. You love
what he gave you, so you bring him back. Brevin
Jordan is going to be up soon, but you really
like him at that number two. And then you got
your developmental guy in Kate Stover with the thought that okay,
after this year, if Brevin Jordan walks, well, if Kate

(23:37):
Stover hopefully developed as that number two behind Dalton Schultz,
and you know he got Schultz on a multi year deal. Now,
so yeah, I mean it just kind of makes sense.
But it's just it's always tough, I'm sure for Casseri
and company when you have to make a when you
have to it's one thing, kind of guy who was
a UDFA, it's what's another thing, the kind of guy
that you drafted. You invested all that hard work, bled,
sweat and tears into all the you know, work that

(24:00):
went into the draft, and then to move off from
a year or two later, it's it's gotta be a little.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
Bit did we miss there?

Speaker 8 (24:06):
Was it?

Speaker 1 (24:06):
The player's fault? You know, it's always that kind of thing.

Speaker 6 (24:09):
And then sometimes just guys, excuse me, guys get banged up,
which is the case with Teagan. Let's go to the
fall lines. Let's talk some Texans and the roster moves,
the politics of the National Football League. Answering any questions
or addressing any comments that, yeah, can give you.

Speaker 7 (24:23):
Two quick cuts, real quick. So Texans are released quintest
Cephas wide receiver. Texans releasing Desmond King. Kind of saw
that coming. I specifically asked Demko Saturday after the game.
Des mc king was cut a year ago at this time,
and then he must a punt. First of all, you
got a veteran of his stature playing in the four
preseason game and he's returning punts, many people thought, because

(24:45):
he was good at times for the Texans last year.

Speaker 6 (24:48):
At the nickel corner. Petrick goes to nickel, They bring
over Miles Murphy who started at the nickel for New
England last year. Writing was on the wall, a guy
like Desmond King. The second not a surprising cut. Let's
go a biscuit in Ahetown. First call of the day,
What a biscuit.

Speaker 9 (25:03):
Hey, what's up?

Speaker 1 (25:04):
My brothers all?

Speaker 9 (25:05):
Hey, Gordy, let me let me give a little pushback
with staying here on this man.

Speaker 4 (25:10):
Uh.

Speaker 9 (25:11):
In the society we live in today, Gordy's plenty of
delusion of people and so uh, these people grow up
in the same society we grow in. So yeah, there's
gonna be some people that think they've done more or
better than what they really are. But that's a society
we live in, you know what I'm saying. So sports
thing exempt from it, and especially with the popsicle is

(25:32):
like staying saying, sports is not exempt from it. If
it's a player to the close. It's beauty is in
the high and beholder. And if I like this guy
a little better, I might think that what he did
was a little better than maybe it actually was. But
that's society.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
Live on it.

Speaker 7 (25:51):
Think there's a difference between being confident yourself and being
arrogant to a point that you can't accept. Sometimes there's
some people are better than you, or maybe I'm not
as good as I think I am.

Speaker 9 (26:02):
You're exactly right, that's not.

Speaker 6 (26:07):
How what do we hear about guys like Michael Jordan,
a guy that was a six round pick like a
Tom Brady in their minds, they were so cynical about
their own ability and the work to get there that
they ultimately became those people. We see it in celebrity
entertainers all the time, so athletes are no different. We

(26:27):
see it in business folks, like they are so consumed
with the craft that, yeah, you become narcissistic, or you
do become some people might say delusional. So this has
been going on for a very long time. Go ahead
with your second point, Biscuit.

Speaker 9 (26:44):
My second point is, man, my brother Steve's, Little Steve's
and I've seen old boy get back there because it
seemed like it's a saying people, when we can put
anybody back there to come puns. And little Steve from
playing from the pee wee football to Travers to Kansas
to the Commander Slash Skins, he's always been able to

(27:04):
be able to return kicks touchdown. We've seen him last
year in the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (27:07):
You're talking about Steve, do.

Speaker 9 (27:09):
You think how much do you think that ways that
the miko them look back at because the only touchdown
they scoring last year was by him.

Speaker 1 (27:16):
Yeah, fair point.

Speaker 9 (27:17):
That's one thing he can do. He can specialize in
kick returns, no.

Speaker 6 (27:21):
Doubt appreciate my man biscuit in each town. So we
know that one Domino has fallen. From a wide receiver standpoint,
Skronic is out. So now you're talking about Mechi Hutchinson,
Robert Woods, and Steven Sims for wide receivers probably five
and six. Steven Sims is the best returner they have

(27:42):
on this team. Do they envision Damian Pierce in that role?
Do they trust Xavier Hutchinson in that role? God, I
hope they don't think putting Mechi back there. And it's
not an issue with Mechi. I just don't think he's
best served in that role. It's not personal for me.
So Steven Simms at the end of today, because Sarrio
has to ask himself, am I gonna release a dude

(28:03):
that knows this offense two years in now?

Speaker 1 (28:06):
Who when it was cold as hell in.

Speaker 6 (28:08):
Baltimore and this team feared because I do believe they
were afraid of Baltimore who didn't coward to the moment.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
Stephen Simms, am I gonna cut that guy? Don't know?
Would he make my six receivers?

Speaker 6 (28:24):
Now that they've cut Scaronic, Steven Simms would probably make
mine and I would release Robert Woods.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
That's me.

Speaker 7 (28:33):
Yeah, it just it seems like they like Robert Woods.
It seems well see what happens to know Brown too.

Speaker 6 (28:38):
If they put him on IR, that opens up opens
up a spot, and that probably allows you to keep Savior.
Hutchins to John Metchi and Robert Woods, and then from
Sims kJ and Cyprus your next up on a Tuesday.
What's happening, bro?

Speaker 9 (28:53):
What up?

Speaker 1 (28:54):
Fellas of serious are a lot of showing them. Jada
go real quick just to picking back off. Was just saying.

Speaker 6 (28:59):
Man, my college. When I was in college, I was
a six foot four charge of the fifteen pound tight
ends class wide receiver.

Speaker 1 (29:07):
I went to Texas Southern.

Speaker 9 (29:10):
And no design.

Speaker 6 (29:12):
My head cut my offensive coordinator at the time was
formerly Jerry Rice's head coach at Mississippi Valley State, the gunslinger.
I had the physical talent.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
My weakness, if I had to say I had one,
was my speed.

Speaker 6 (29:25):
I'm saying all this to say, we see what we
see on the field, but sometimes what determines whether or
not the coaches key players isn't necessary as a product
on the field. It's the work they put in off
the field. I didn't put in the work. I was
physically gifted and I knew it, so I didn't feel
like I needed to do some of the things that
other guys did.

Speaker 1 (29:42):
There was a guy played with in our school.

Speaker 6 (29:44):
He played ten years in the NFL, when a Jim
Thorpe ward coming out of college named Chris Hudson, high
draft pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was not even
the best guy on our team, but his commitment to detail,
his commitment to putting in the work, determined whether or
not he got in the field. He couldn't jump high.
To me, he wasn't stronger than me. He wasn't a
better athlete than me. But he did the things that

(30:06):
I wasn't doing. I'm just saying that to say it
is a politic game because sometimes you got to see
them scoring the touchdowns in preseason or doing this and that.
But if they're not putting in the work in the
film study, if they're not doing the things as players
the coach is expecting to do as young men, that
could play a pivotal role in determine whether or not
they make the roster. My cousin first cousin Russell Maryland

(30:28):
number one over our draft pick in nineteen ninety.

Speaker 1 (30:30):
He told me a lot of stuff that goes.

Speaker 6 (30:32):
On buying the scenes. And this isn't to me coming
down on you, Chris, but I'm listening to.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
What you're saying, Chris, not Chris staying yeah, and.

Speaker 6 (30:39):
It's a lot of stock, tell you, man, because me
and Russell played ten years in the league. Unfortunate for
the Cowboys. And he says a lot about what you're
saying right now, fellas blood to show. I had a question,
but I save it for tomorrow. Man, gonna sit back
and listen. My man kJ from Sipus. Appreciate that. Bill
and Katie. I will grab you on the other side.
I won't say a word. We'll make sure we get
to you first because I appreciate you all and I
want to hear what you have to say. Gordy Astro's

(31:01):
back in action tonight. College football this weekend. Something for
the people to cool them off.

Speaker 7 (31:06):
Yeah, it was great to see so many people come
out to Carbock Brewing last night for the Astros Phillies
watch parties. The man there was a ton of people
out there and people taking pictures with the Trophy, the
World Series trophies and the Shooting Stars and all that
kind of stuff and uh yeah, so it was a
good showing. Unfortunately Astros didn't show out for us, but

(31:28):
you know what, you were still a winner if you
enjoyed the ice cold Crawford back from our friends at
car Bock Brewing, it was you know again, it's on
tap there at Carbock, out there in the bureau garden
inside the restaurant, or over there at mid of May
Park where the Astros will be back later this week Thursday,
getting ready to host the Kansas City Royals. You can
enjoy the ice cold Crawford back pairs perfectly with Astros baseball,

(31:49):
of course, brewed right here at Houston, Texas by our
good friends at Carbock Brewing.

Speaker 5 (31:54):
To the next episode. You can't even stop yourself.

Speaker 3 (31:58):
Bin John forty next us as Next Up continues on
seven ninety.

Speaker 6 (32:07):
As we wrap up our one hear in the Sports
Talk seven ninety studios. Thanks everybody allowing us to maintain
our status as your home for Houston sports. Stan Fleet
Gordon here stand sportsman at Chris Gordon, Connedy McGovern along
as well Bill and Katie. As promised, but I'm sure
you want to hear this. According to our Texans and
NFL insider Aaron Wilson, eleven minutes ago, Texans release starting

(32:31):
fullback and Drew Beck, who battled with a calf injury
throughout the preseason, also battling injuries and has been released.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
Veteran wide receiver Norah Brown.

Speaker 6 (32:41):
Will talk about wide receivers here in Just the Second
with John MITCHI what is so interesting about the Norah
Brown release? He just signed a one year, four million
dollar deal with three million of it being guaranteed to
return to the Texans for the twenty four season. I
said this when I saw that Ben Skearonic had been released.
I'm waiting to see how the Texans over the next

(33:03):
forty eight hours, how do they navigate their IR designations.
I do not believe, Gordy, we've seen the last of
Noah Brown in a Texans uniform, although he is a
part of the first wave of cuts.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
Lema me ad this too, because it's kind of addressing.

Speaker 6 (33:17):
Texans just waved full back Troy Harston as well, so
they don't have a fan. Aaron said he's a candidate
for the practice squad. The only other fullback they have
is they got Nick Boden. Oh yeah, and somebody. It
was an article yesterday I said five of the worst
Texans performers during preseason, and Nick Barden was one of them.
So I mean, well, they were all on a team
without a full back, so they're another guy out there.

(33:39):
They like, we'll see again. I'm gonna ask Patients and
Bill and Caty a promise, like I keep saying, a promise.
The Texans are playing a little bit of a shell
game right now. We've got to release dudes, and once
you release somebody, it is possible that they get claimed
by somebody else, pending where their veteran status is, and

(34:00):
you know all of those things. But then some of
these guys are going to be veterans that are added
to the practice squad and they will be called up
week to week given what the Texans need based on
whatever the opponent is going to throw at him going
into that week. So let's not get all in a tizzy,
not that you would. I know, Andrew Beg is not
necessarily a fan favorite, but I'm talking about the construction

(34:23):
of a roster. It's going to require a bit more patience.
But I am surprised to see Noah Brown released and
was not instantly given an eyear designation.

Speaker 7 (34:34):
Yeah, because again, like we looked at it, pullly guaranteed.
Why not just stash him on the ir and say,
all right, we know what he was. He was good
for us last year, well like some of these other
guys as well. But at least gives you an option
if you stick them on the IRN. And they may
still maintain that flexibility. It just may look different. In
other words, they may have remember those relationships and the politics.

(34:55):
I started off the show with, Hey, Noah, listen, we've
got to do this on paper, administra datively release you.
You're gonna come back with us, continue working with your
phone off, doing any other test, continue working with you.

Speaker 6 (35:06):
Trust me North Brown in that right now, there's not
another offer that North Brown has that's going to guarantee
him more than the three million attentions have given him.
He's coming back to Houston. I think if I'm wrong,
y'all know, I'll come in here and save my bad
all right, Bill and Katie, extreme patience. Brother, I'm gonna
give you a few minutes here to layout.

Speaker 10 (35:23):
Thank you, go ahead, your next up, Yeah, going back
to what you're talking about, politics and football. I saw
in high school firsthand. I was on the high school team.
This is like thirty some years ago. That preseason was
ranked number twelve in the city. Okay, during the summer,

(35:43):
a white guy transferred to our school and was a quarterback.
At the beginning of training camp or whatever it's called
in high school, he was installed as the starter. We
had an African American quarterback who was better than the
better runner, better thrower, ran the wishbone. He could, I mean,

(36:05):
he could kill her on the field. But the white
guy got installed as a starter. It wasn't even a competition,
and he wasn't very good. He wasn't accurate. He was
a decent runner, but he wasn't very accurate with his throws.
And everybody knew it. It was the team apart. Started
out ranked number twelve. They finished two and eight, and

(36:28):
there was some talent on that team. Six players got
scholarships off that team. I mean, you know, one with TCU.
I think one got a Texas. That left tackle got
a Texas. A lot of them were smaller colleges like
Austin and stuff.

Speaker 9 (36:41):
Like that.

Speaker 6 (36:44):
Happened, Bill, Yeah, yeah, no, my man, Bill and Katie,
I appreciate the call. Look, it's just being disingenuous and
we're being naive if we don't think. We have biases
and prejudices, some of them racially motivated, sexual, gender orientation,
all other things play into account. Somebody went to the
school that I went to, like they are all these

(37:05):
things the neighborhood cultural like that impacts big business at
the highest level, including the National Football League. For those
that have never been employed by or played for, thus
employed by anyone in the league, there's a certain level
if you don't know what you're talking about. Respectfully, I
say this, unless you've been there, done it, and you've
been in it. Aaron Wilson can give us all the reports,

(37:27):
and that's my man. He can give us all the reports.
You are connected. But there are things that are said
and done inside the building in conference rooms that don't
leak that make this thing a little bit unique.

Speaker 7 (37:41):
Yeah, I'll just add in high schools a little bit different.
In the NFL, again, it is the not for long league.
Coaches are fired after they are coaches who get one
year now and you're fired.

Speaker 1 (37:52):
So that's where I just say, I'm not doubting.

Speaker 7 (37:55):
It's that way, and it's still that way in some aspects,
and was definitely probably worse years ago. I nowadays, the
minute you're hired, that clock is ticking. If you do
anything with your roster where you're not playing the best guys,
it's going to cost you your job. So again and
hered bias. That's my buddy's brother, you know, Yeah, let's
put him on the tea anything like that. Okay, get

(38:17):
your your ass is gonna be fired in a year,
so get ready, because you got to play the best.

Speaker 1 (38:22):
May the best man win. You got to do that.

Speaker 6 (38:25):
No, you don't. You're talking about how it should be.
I'm telling you from experience how it is. I've been
paid by three NFL franchises. I understand how the NFL works.
Doesn't mean I don't have things that I can learn,
and certainly times change to some degree and things like that.
But on this, you're gonna have to trust me on this.
I again, I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying,

(38:46):
overwhelmingly talent proves out.

Speaker 1 (38:49):
No, they doesn't.

Speaker 6 (38:50):
Okay, give me an example of the Houston Texans right now.
Is there somebody Davis Meals was the second best quarterback
on this roster. Last year. Case Keenum is a fan
favorite from the city, went to the school all the things,
so to me go start him because he was a
fan of favorite. Put Case Keenum out there when Davis
Mills was the better dude. Right now, right now, Cam
Akers is the second best running back on this roster

(39:10):
right now, and I believe they believe that Damian Pierce is,
which is why don't think that's crazy, which is why
Damian Pierce didn't play on Saturday and Acres did.

Speaker 7 (39:23):
Yeah, But so I think those are for debate. Like,
it's not like Case Keenum was hands down. They trusted
the experience case keingdum had more experience, and they trusted.

Speaker 6 (39:32):
That the better physical talent. You said, the better player
always goes out there. Davis Mills was always I said, should,
That's what it should.

Speaker 7 (39:41):
If you're a coach and you're putting your ass on
the line, you're going to be fired if you're not
playing the better talent.

Speaker 6 (39:47):
You asked me for a Texans example, I gave you one, okay,
and I said both those are up for debate. I
don't think it's not. It's clear cut. Cam Akers sitting
on a scrappy You don't think You don't think cam
Akers right now has proven to be the second best
back on this team.

Speaker 7 (40:03):
Is that what you're saying? I could make an argument
that Damian Pears is still the second best.

Speaker 6 (40:09):
Asking you if you had to put a running back
in the game today, Joe Mixon has to come out
tonight at seven pm over at NRG, who would you
put in the game? If Mixing had to come out,
who with Chris Gordy put in the game?

Speaker 7 (40:20):
I haven't seen Damian Pierce, but if they trust that
he's that he's the second best.

Speaker 1 (40:24):
So I'm gonna go with Chris Gordy put in the game.

Speaker 6 (40:26):
Watch how easy it, says Connor, if you had to
put a running back in the game and not name
Joe Mixing right now today.

Speaker 1 (40:32):
Who would go in the game for you? Damon Pierce? Okay?

Speaker 6 (40:35):
So for Connor saying DP, see, that's what I'm saying.
There's no way you can watch what we've seen the
clips from practic against the fourth stringers. I don't can't
Makers can Makers is a former second round pick with
a Super Bowl rings. So I was he unemployed? D
was hurt Okay, like it's not that hard.

Speaker 7 (40:54):
Some people nobody else wanted them, though, Jesus, I really
I'm trying.

Speaker 1 (41:02):
I know, text line, I'm a text line. Lord, forgive
me social media.

Speaker 8 (41:06):
I know.

Speaker 1 (41:06):
I'm trying to maintain my composion. It's a debate. It's
not a debate.

Speaker 6 (41:11):
It's easy. There's nothing you can show me. There's not
a clip, there's not a highlight. I don't want to
hear about his rookie year. I don't want to hear
about a bleep of kickoff return last year. There's not
a single thing you can show me from Damian Pierce
in twenty twenty four that is better than what we've
seen from Cam Akers does far. So, why is with

(41:31):
Damiko Rians being the great smart coach that he is,
Why would he You're proving my point the politics of
the NFL politics. The politics is DAMIENI is put on
tape what he did in the rookie year. He's a
draft choice. And they don't want to be wrong, meaning
Nick Cassario about Damian Pierce. They still maintain hope about Pierce,
some of that same hope that they maintain about John

(41:54):
met You the third and others hope can blind you
in this game.

Speaker 1 (42:00):
Else have to believe in your draft picks, the guys
you invested resources in. It can also blind you.

Speaker 6 (42:05):
I gave you the Bobby Carpenter example of being in Dallas.
He was the first round pick. Ask anybody that was there.
Kim Hamlin leaves in this city. Former cowboy, also played
with Seattle, played for small team. Shout out to my
man handb On. Kim Hamlin was starting in Dallas and
went to the Pro Bowl that year. He lives out there.
I think he's out dre in Siena somewhere. He'll tell
you competent, shouldn't have been out there, but they kept

(42:26):
putting him out there.

Speaker 1 (42:27):
It happens every year. All right, Let me do this.

Speaker 6 (42:30):
Read think that the quarterback would throw for more than
three hundred yards high about that receiving Miami grabbing a touchdown.

That's Chris Gordon. He's also our program director.

Speaker 6 (45:06):
There's conned Y McGovern on the other side of the glass.
Thanks to him for not only running the board, taking
your phone calls at seven one three, two one two
five seven ninety, getting the sound that we need and
all of the things. No new cuts have come in.
We don't know where you've been since you've tuned into
the program. I know you guys are in and out
and doing the various deal, but probably the most noticeable

(45:28):
cuts thus far Andrew Brett Beck excuse me, and Troy Harston.
The fullbacks have been released being Skeronic at wide receiver
released as well as Noah Brown has been released as well.
We will continue to give you live updates from our
very own Aaron Wilson and others. He is on social
media at Aaron Wilson Underscore NFL.

Speaker 7 (45:50):
Would you rank them in terms of most significant Robert
Brown one, Desmond King two.

Speaker 6 (45:56):
Oh, Desmond King is also on that list. Me, I
would say Skoronic to over Desmond King King.

Speaker 1 (46:02):
Probably. It's interesting.

Speaker 7 (46:03):
I mean, our lives is never a surefire, but like
they've this whole off season, they've listened. Desmond Kings is
starting nickelback for the Texans. But you know, to your point,
we've seen Jalen Petree play in that spot. You know,
we thought right after the draft that Kamari Lassiter would
be a candid for that, but really a few weeks
after the draft he started solidify that number two.

Speaker 1 (46:24):
So I've never seen anything like it.

Speaker 6 (46:26):
Kamara lasted the moment he got off the airplane and
got into a car service to get over the NLG.
Apparently was this team starting corner opposite of Derek's thing. Okay,
maybe it is. I hadn't seen him. If y'all have
seen lasted it this year, let me know I hadn't
seen him. He did do some good things and some practices.
I mean from a game standpoint, they have that much
faith in him. He's that good hope, so hope brother

(46:47):
can play all right. I really want to get into
this wide receiver of conversation. I heard something from Dmico
Ryan speaking of the runner back conversation that we had.
By the way, go to people have chimed in on
social Let's see who is this chill underscore Pilsman stand sportsman,
I take Acres right now as his team's RB two

(47:09):
was the conversation, who is this Maddie my man? Matt
willis seven to just talks about He agrees the debate
and the politics about the National Football League and pro
sports absolutely exists. Live guy says he will take Pierce
over Acres, and so again there are some varying opinions. Yeah,

(47:35):
cam Akers is the team second best running back, Just
like I said last year when nobody knew who Deaf
and Singletary was, I said, defn Singletary is the team's
best back.

Speaker 1 (47:44):
Probably should give him.

Speaker 6 (47:45):
The ball more Joe on the west side, Come on,
get in here, Manfore I start talking wide receivers.

Speaker 5 (47:50):
What's the deal guys?

Speaker 9 (47:51):
Man?

Speaker 4 (47:51):
You know, I see you guys all the time, but
I just wanted to testimate what you on on what
you said earlier about the politics of the NFL before
my boy jumped up into that.

Speaker 2 (48:03):
I had a guy that would sit up in the
crowd in the audience at some of the games and said, hey, man,
if he pledges this, then we got him right. So
I always questioned what that meant. But then I found out,
I mean, if he pledged certain you know, there's two

(48:25):
different frat brothers, you know what I'm saying. They said
that they'll take them, and that's exactly what they what happened.

Speaker 5 (48:31):
And I was just like, Wow, this is how this
thing goes.

Speaker 9 (48:34):
So hey, man, I just wanted to say, guarded man, man,
stand spot on with this one.

Speaker 11 (48:40):
Man, I can.

Speaker 9 (48:41):
I can tell you that.

Speaker 2 (48:41):
And for the running back situation, man it's obvious. Man,
we don't even have to Ray Chaus can see this one.
Man or Acres was a whole lot better at what
we're looking for right now than Damien Pierce.

Speaker 1 (48:54):
And I ain't up to listen, my man, westside, Joe,
thanks for the call. I just I would say, just
caution with that.

Speaker 6 (48:59):
We've seen makers playing in preseason against third and fourth stringers.

Speaker 7 (49:03):
So imagine, well again, they may be saying, look good.
But you know what we're gonna base our evaluation. We
think Damian Pierce, it's back healthy, he understands the playbook
a little bit better this year, whatever offensive lines a
little bit stronger, we're healthier.

Speaker 1 (49:18):
I haven't seen that.

Speaker 7 (49:19):
Okay, I'm just tell you that they might feel that
way about him. We'll see. I think most Texans fans
feel how you feel. We're going very skeptical, skeptical into
Damian Pierce. And if they get in Indianapolis and it's
Joe mixing for the first couple carries and then Pierce
gets in there, it's one carry for loss of one,
We're all gonna be saying the same thing, all right,
we shall see.

Speaker 6 (49:39):
Speaking of Damian Piers, Demico Ryans was asked about Damian
Pierce and the decision to get this roster where it
needs to be by three pm local time. He also
backdoored into a comment about a particular wide receiver who's
in the news as well. Uh, let me know, Demico seven,
please on Damian Pierce, John MITCHI.

Speaker 12 (50:01):
Yeah, our decisions will be made on the roster guys
over the next couple of days. And you guys know,
we still have a lot of things to work through
when it comes to the roster. You know, when you
talk about those guys specifically Mattie and Dame B I
think both guys is they've done really well in practice
settings and also in the game. So both guys, I've
seen you. I know what those guys are about. I

(50:22):
know who they are as people and so but we'll
see you guys see those decisions here over the next.

Speaker 1 (50:28):
Couple of days.

Speaker 6 (50:29):
All right, Jamiko ryans Now that was Monday. That was yesterday.
What's the day Tuesday? Yeah, so that was yesterday, Dimiko saying,
we'll see. We got to do our due diligence and
get it understood. As it pertains to John MITCHI, I
saw this first reported by NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Multiple

(50:52):
teams have reached out to the Texans to see if
wide receiver John Mitchie the third would be available in
trade due to the plethora of receivers that were formerly
on the roster for the Texans, given they've just cut
Vin Skeronic and Norah Brown. Will see if they're using
IYR designation or not. It's unclear if Houston would move him,
but several teams are keeping a close eye. We know

(51:14):
that Matchie, the former second round pick out Alabama ten
catches one hundred yards and a touchdown this preseason. So
then I saw this popped up on one of the
aggregator sites. This was, oh, the Draft Network particular guy
had this up. I'll try and find it here real quick,
and it was it was the team, multiple teams, and

(51:37):
then they started listing the teams. Here are the teams
that I thought to need wide receiver help. This is
courtesy of the Draft Network justin Maylow. Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers,
Washington Commanders are the three teams. I've also seen the
Philadelphia Eagles. Was it the Eagles that inquired about Matchie? Gosh,
I'm forgetting the fourth team. Nonetheless, they know they got

(51:59):
their three d heep already. I saw that because they
just did the deal to go get Johann Dodson. It
was somebody else was interested in Mitche And I'm watching
the team all right, John Mitchell the third Gordy in
twenty twenty four? Will he be on the tech since
fifty three? Or if you're Nick Casserio, A better way
to ask it if somebody's calling you with a Day

(52:21):
three pick for John Mitchi, so fourth round or later,
would you deal John Mitchell the third to somebody else? No,
I mean they just cut No Brown. So and this
is a question I was asked before they made their cut.
I know my three locked inner, Nico Stefan and Tank.
I like Xavier Hutchinson and his development as a sixth

(52:42):
rounder from last year. John Mitchi is a first round
talent that fell to the second unfortunately had a cancer
diagnosis which he's worked back from.

Speaker 1 (52:49):
Had an ACM.

Speaker 7 (52:50):
Before they'll believe that talent, there's something there. He's had
some nice catches this preseason. I continue to develop him
and I put him on this strops number five or
number six or really number six behind Robert Woods, because
if I'm keeping Woods and I like Hutch and I've
cut no Brown, I'm keeping John mechis my six, and

(53:10):
I'm not interested in any late round picks. Again, what
I just said, a first round pick that fell to
the second, you've got great value there.

Speaker 1 (53:17):
It costs you nothing to just keep him on the roster.
He's already under contract. He hasn't.

Speaker 7 (53:21):
I'll keep developing him and see if there's something there.
As opposed to six and seven round picks on that
they just cut Solomon Burt, who was one of your
seventh round picks this year.

Speaker 1 (53:29):
I mean, of course Thante doesn't.

Speaker 6 (53:31):
Of course, we just saw Nick Casarios sent out a
seventh to six for an sit down to six to
get Ban Skaronic in a seven, saying I just those
are so hitting. Well, what I'm saying is it has
NFL tangible value. Late round picks do matter. We see
them packaged all the time to go be part of

(53:53):
other deals. If it was me, I asked you if
somebody called and offered me a fourth, if it's a
fourth straight up for John Mitchee the third, I probably
would not do it. If somebody offered me a third
straight up for John Mitchell the third right now, I
would do it.

Speaker 1 (54:12):
That's just me.

Speaker 6 (54:12):
It's nothing proser against John huhund third oh yeahely. If
somebody offers me a third, I would do the deal. Fourth.

Speaker 1 (54:18):
That's now.

Speaker 6 (54:19):
If somebody got creative and said, look, I can't give
you a third, but I'll give you a fourth and
fifth for the rights of John Mitchie, I would do
that deal.

Speaker 1 (54:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (54:27):
I just again, I just I'd rather see see this
thing out and keep keep rocking with it.

Speaker 6 (54:33):
There is a notion that says like, and I just
said it about Damian Pierce, and Damian Pierce has a
bigger body of work. But I'm saying Damian Pierce in
twenty twenty three John Mitchie and he had an excellent
play on Saturday where he had some dB in the
spin cycle. I mean, his footwork was exquisite. And John
Mitchie is beloved in that locker room. And John Mitchie

(54:53):
and c J. Stroud have a connection, meaning they really
like each other. There's a relationship there. You want to
keep CJ. Stroud happy. So I would have to have
all of that information before I started talking about dealing metch.
But on this side, of the Texans payroll. Yes for
a fourth and fifth round, IE would deal Metchi And
yes for a third round, I would move him.

Speaker 1 (55:12):
Two quick notes on the way out.

Speaker 7 (55:13):
Caleb Farley, former first round pick out of Virginia Tech,
was just cut by the Titans. So if you're looking
for another dB, that might be a guy to keep
an eye on. And DJB enemy tweet this out. With
the Texans cutting both fullbacks, could they envision Kade Stover
being that h back kind of hybrid role. Just something
of thought there on a day where they cut both

(55:35):
full backs and they used the full back a lot
last year, you know, would they look at maybe, oh, Stover,
you're our third string tight end, but we're gonna put
you some packages to be that blocking fullback.

Speaker 1 (55:47):
All right?

Speaker 6 (55:47):
This also from Arion Wilson three minutes ago. A guy
that I thought had a chance to make this team.
Former LSU defensive standout Ali Gay has been released. However,
Nick Cassario playing to sign him to the practice squad
if he clears waivers. I believe he was on the
practice squad for the Texans a year ago. All right,
stay locked right here. You continue to be updated on

(56:08):
what's going on over at NRG. John Mitchi is desired
by at least three teams International Football League. Given that
the Texans this morning have released both Vince Gronic and
Noah Brown, I would say John Mitchi will remain a Texan.

Speaker 1 (56:26):
All right.

Speaker 6 (56:27):
Astros in action last night up in Philly, scene of
some very good memories. In twenty twenty two we revisit
such on the other side, Astros come up short.

Speaker 1 (56:36):
We'll discuss why. Sports Talk seven ninety next up continues.

Speaker 2 (56:41):
Now.

Speaker 5 (56:41):
I'm a new listener, at already a huge new listener.

Speaker 3 (56:44):
I love the show with Stan north Fleet and Chris
Gordy on Sports Talk seven nineteen.

Speaker 11 (56:54):
I'll field shaded the other way against him. First pitch
and harperk rounds and right side passed two bight in
the right field of Basin Swarper around third coming home,
here's the throat of the plate on one hop Dot
at time gets past Das, Schwarber's scores and Bryce Harper
the hero for the Phillies who win it three to
two in the bottom of the tenth. Then Gamble begging

(57:15):
to throw in from right on a hop to d
As even if DZ holds on to it. Schwarber still
likely Beats I can come bound back.

Speaker 6 (57:23):
Welcome back in the next up on a Tuesday, NFL
roster cutdowns, the cuts continue to come in. Stay locked
with us, as we will give you what's most current.
We will pivot momentarily. Let's talk about the Stros as
the Houston Astros taking all. As you heard there by
Robert Ford and Steve Sparks of the Astros Radio network

(57:44):
up in Philly, Bryce Harper the hero bottom of the tenth,
Harper singles, Kyle Schwarber scores and three to two Astros
go down. Astros seven and sixty one on the year
still reside again first place in the Al West. That
lead has now dwindled down to three and a half

(58:06):
games as the Mariners find themselves on a two game
win streak. Astros eighty seven point eight percent chance says
ESPN bet to make the postseason.

Speaker 1 (58:18):
Gordie, last night.

Speaker 6 (58:19):
As we talk about not just how the game ended,
of course, not a lot of offense, I think you
would say that the Bats let them team down, and
yet again.

Speaker 7 (58:30):
It's white loss. I mean, yeah, pitching was Blanco was fine,
the bullpen was good. I mean, you know, everything was good.
And your face on a tough pitcher in Zach Wheeler
and Curtis to Shay Wakem and he found you know
that that ball off the bat just found room in
left field and fell down to run scored. But yeah,
I mean the gist of it is, you know, it's
you were what one for ten runners the score position

(58:53):
left eight men on base. Yes, ye had eight hits,
you had three walks, just could not find that timely hit.
And it just sucks because you know, tonight we're bregnant
at a couple hits in the leadoff spot. A random
night where the line of cults comes out. We all go, wait,
why's out two v playing? You just wanted to get
him a day out, like wait, we just had a
day he just had a day off. But Jordan gets

(59:14):
a hit, Diz gets a hit, but it's compounded when
Jeremy Painea goes over, Jake Myers goes over. You know,
it's just some of these other guys like you look
at Adam and go, guys, we need you to do
something anything.

Speaker 1 (59:27):
The Astros only did one thing, and it was pretty
early in the ball game.

Speaker 6 (59:32):
Gordy.

Speaker 1 (59:32):
Some young guys doing some good things.

Speaker 6 (59:34):
I saw Shay whitcomb Uh he had his moment in
the sun as he continues to flash for the Astros,
the young infielder that he is. The Astros will score
two runs. It would happened in the top of the fourth,
and the aforementioned youngster would do such.

Speaker 8 (59:49):
Wickham flew out to right field his last time up.
Just gaudy numbers of triple A the last two years,
including this year where he had ninety one RBIs when
he got called up. First pitch and he rips it
to left field toward the corner. Long run for Hayes
and he can't get there. That's gonna land and bounce
around on the corner. One runn'll score. The Astros are
gonna send the other one head first.

Speaker 1 (01:00:11):
Lie By Meyer was hauling a run double first day.

Speaker 8 (01:00:16):
Wickham and the Astros have taken the lead.

Speaker 6 (01:00:18):
Appreciate Robert Ford, staves Bunks, shout out to you, Jake Myers.
He was rolling brother again, seeing home all the way
from first base. The Astros again with score those two
runs and that would be all that.

Speaker 7 (01:00:30):
And we've seen them be a little bit more aggressive
on the base base paths and I like that. I
like that they're kind of getting that going, but they
gotta they gotta be a little bit more aggressive. I mean,
find find ways look still base and if you get
thrown out and get thrown out, I just feel like
when when you're on having these nights in, you're facing
good pitching and the offensive struggling, you gotta find ways

(01:00:51):
to scratch across runs. But I brought this up, what
about two weeks ago, Stay, I said that stretch coming
up where you're playing Boston, Baltimore, Philly, Kansas City. These
are all good teams you're playing. The wins aren't gonna
keep cut like you're gonna lose some of these games.
But look at what Seattle's got. They're playing Tampa right now, who,
as we know, blewed up at the trade deadline. They're

(01:01:12):
not tanking, but like they're playing for nothing up next
to get the Angels, who suck, They get the A's
who suck. They get the Cardinals, who are I believe,
half a game below five hundred. So the Mariners have
some very winnable games here, while the Astros are going
through a tough stretch of good ball clubs. You know,
you get the Diamondbacks after this, you know in two weeks.

(01:01:35):
So I'm just bringing that up to say you brought
up they've closed this to three and a half. I
think there's a chance that Marin has closed this thing
and may even catch the Astros in the next week
or two. The key for the Astros will be those
last couple weeks of the season when we see the
Angel seven more times, like you got to take care
of your business when we get to those games.

Speaker 6 (01:01:53):
I mentioned it yesterday. I had a graphic that I
got from Space City Home Network. It's going into the
think that was going into Baltimore. The Astros had like
the seventh toughest schedule in Major League Baseball the rest
of the way, the Mariners had like the sixth easiest,
something like that. And so this is playing god in

(01:02:15):
real time. Astros, including the Baltimore series, are now what
is this? One, two, three, four, five, two and three
are the Astros in the five game road trip with
two games remaining tonight and tomorrow after noon.

Speaker 7 (01:02:28):
Well, and what sucks is those three losses were all
what like, last night was a winnable game, It was
there for you, you didn't take it. And then those
two games of Baltimore where you had the lead late
and blew it. You know, That's that's what sucks. And
it's like, it's not like you lost these games eight
to one, you know, and got blown out. It's you
were in these games, which is good. I mean, these
are good. These are playoff teams you're playing, and you're

(01:02:50):
fighting tooth and nail in their house, playing competitive baseball.

Speaker 1 (01:02:53):
Great, but you just gotta win some more games here.
You can't lose them all.

Speaker 6 (01:02:57):
The Astros definitely are having some issues late in ball
games when they are not leading. The Astros are now
something like five and eleven, give or take. I'm sorry,
I don't have that specific record in extra inning games.
And I've also seen graphics when they are not winning
or leading after eight.

Speaker 1 (01:03:19):
And I don't put yesterday on hater either.

Speaker 7 (01:03:21):
I mean, top of the tenth, you don't even get that, Like,
you can't even get you get a runner at second base,
Baseball has created a rule for you, making it as easy.

Speaker 1 (01:03:29):
As possible to get that run home.

Speaker 7 (01:03:31):
Brugman strikes out, Jordon grounds out, Diaz lines out, and
so yeah, I mean, you know, Josh hatered to your
point out for another inning.

Speaker 6 (01:03:39):
You know, Josh Hader gets the loss one inning for him,
allowed just one hit, none earned, did strike out three,
walk one. He is now six and seven on the season.
Let's go to the phone lines and wrap up this segment. Jay,
on the northeast side of the city. You're next up, sir.

Speaker 9 (01:03:57):
First of all, I'll come you to walk Harper in second.
By the time this series ends with the Phillies, they're
gonna be one game up.

Speaker 2 (01:04:07):
On the Mariners, like Gordi, Mariner's gonna catch them.

Speaker 7 (01:04:15):
You're playing You're playing really good teams and the Marriers
are playing dog crap.

Speaker 1 (01:04:18):
So you know it's part of the sketch exactly.

Speaker 9 (01:04:22):
Yep, appreciate man, but it's gonna happen.

Speaker 6 (01:04:24):
Man, my man, Jay, We'll see what these astros have
for us. Harper, by the way, for those that ask
grounds into a double in the first, walked in uh
in the third, doubled in the sixth, walked in the seventh,
and the bottom.

Speaker 7 (01:04:37):
Of the tenth, he sings. But also think about this
realistic Jay. It's tie game. Bottom of the tenth, Kyle
Schwarber is inherited runner at second base. He walks Turner
to start the ending two on nobody out you want
to walk Bryce Harper to load the bases, put move
the winning run from second over to third base.

Speaker 1 (01:04:55):
With nobody out.

Speaker 7 (01:04:56):
Come on, think about that logically. I know Harper is
is great, but a certain point you gotta get out.
Oh shout out to Brian King too. What was that
the eighth inning, Bernard where there were runners on and
he had that It was like a ten pitch at
bat with Bam that he gets in the strikeout.

Speaker 1 (01:05:11):
That was a hell of a moment that for Brian King.

Speaker 6 (01:05:14):
Brian King comes in for a third of an inning,
he walks one, strikes out one, does not allow anything earned.
I want to also highlight I know we're up against it.
I'm getting out of here, Connor. When games like this happened,
always go to the big dogs top of the lineup.
Bregman two for five, struck out twice. Your On one

(01:05:34):
for four, did walk once. He also struck out. Yeah, there,
Daz two strikeouts, he was one for five. You can't
win with your big guys if especially with our two
vate not being in the lineup. You gotta have your
heavyweights playing like they needed one. Today State Today is
the twenty seventh of August, it's August eleventh. It is
the last time you around hit a home run? Just

(01:05:56):
how does he go through these droughts? But when it's
rolling roll two to three weeks, four weeks without a
home run? Come on, man, all right, let's close out
get on the other side mentioned, Let's see what the
updates are from a roster cut standpoint. And just something fun,
I wanted to get into Derek Stingley Junior changed agents.
What does that mean about the future for Stingley here

(01:06:17):
in Houston? And what are the implications with one Cole
Ridge Bernard Stroud before thinks he jas the four Sports
Talk seven ninety real text is talking Listen.

Speaker 3 (01:06:27):
Stanton or Fleet and Chris Gordy. This is next tough
on Sports Talk seven.

Speaker 6 (01:06:36):
Ninety oh twenty five minutes from now. Sports Talk seven
ninety will give you the Matt Thomas Show. I see
Matt Thomas is in the building disturbing Connor during the break,
we should be focused on this program. On man Connor
does double duty. I appreciate him. Matt Thomas and ross
Ville Reality take you from noon to three. I believe
into the eighteen for a short time and then we

(01:06:57):
get Astros on deck at four thirty this afternoon, so
we'll get some late afternoon baseball or early evening. However
you want to determine that we just had an astro
segment losing extras. Bryce Harper walk off single, bottom of
the tenth inning versus the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank
Park up in Philly, talking roster cut down day, and

(01:07:20):
it will be you know, I started this thing, and
I get a bit of motion on. I get defensive
about the process in the NFL because I understand that
many of you you don't always fully understand it, not
that you could in case you're in a situation. That's
why you lean on us and you allow us to
maintain our status as your home for Houston sports and

(01:07:40):
giving you some of the you know, behind the curtain.
What's it like? What's today like over there at NRG.
It's a sad day for a whole bunch of people.
I had this my notes. I remind you coming into today, Gordon,
nine hundred and forty eight players will be released, waved,
or moved to the reserve list. I ain't forty eight.

(01:08:02):
It's a tough business, cutthroat as it gets. There are
various or varying motivations for how guys remain on the roster.
So it is we came into the ice ice cube
good day. It is gonna be a good day for
a lot of guys. A lot of guys are gonna
make money. A lot of guys are gonna make their
families proud. A lot of guys are going to have

(01:08:22):
generational wealth because they made the roster. Guys' lives will change,
but not for everybody in the most recent of those
cuts comes from this is Aaron Wilson. Texans release quarterback
Tim Boyle per a league source who had a good preseason.

(01:08:43):
Former Texan Adrian Amos. He was an acquisition. I think
they got it from Chicago last year. Played a lot
of ball for the Texans. Safety Adrian Amos. Last year
he signs with the Jags. Jags released him today. Also
from Aaron Wilson, fourteen minutes ago, Texans will play safety

(01:09:05):
Brandon Hill, former seventh round pick last year Pittsburgh. He's
gonna go on ir significant knee injury will require surgery,
ending his season. That happened on Saturday versus the Rams.
The cart came out. It was a pretty ugly seen

(01:09:25):
memory serves correct. That might have been. Was that the
Giants game of the Rams? I think it was the
Rams game. Got caught it off there. So that is
the most recent thing from a Texan standpoint. You brought
up something going off air that I think should make
its way on air. Who's the most notable player to
be released around the league? You mentioned Caleb Fowley, a

(01:09:46):
former first round out of Virginia Tech at corner for
the Tennessee Titans.

Speaker 1 (01:09:51):
He might be.

Speaker 6 (01:09:53):
From what I've seen, Noah Brown Texans. That's gonna get
some eyes just given the contract that he signed. Any
somebody else jump out for you in terms of surprise
they got murdered.

Speaker 7 (01:10:05):
Not like surprise, but like we're just talking big, bigger names,
you know. Bailey Zappie of the Patriots was kind of
that was a guy who was competing with Mac Jones
for the starting job a couple of years ago and
got some starting actions.

Speaker 1 (01:10:18):
So he's been released. Giants released Alan Robinson.

Speaker 7 (01:10:21):
It almost feels like this is the end of the line, right,
Like Alan Robinson, Come on, man, you made a lot
of money retirements calling You've been in like eight different
teams the last three years.

Speaker 1 (01:10:30):
I'm not mad at guys that try hold on if
you can find it, but.

Speaker 7 (01:10:34):
It almost does get sad to a point where you see, like,
you know, a guy who was once a really good
you know, all of a sudden it's like, oh, man
holding onto that dream. But yeah, I mean, it really
hasn't been any monster monster names yet. But the the
Tim Boyle one is interesting because I for I completely
forgot Tim Boyle had that stretch in what with the

(01:10:56):
Jets where he started some games.

Speaker 6 (01:10:58):
I told you this when training camp was around. There
were many people that thought they would cut case Keenum.
And by the way, with the injury designation of Brandon Hill,
we still haven't seen. We heard overnight I saw who
had it. Oh we was in the chronicle. Jonathan Alexander
was the one that I saw had it. Case Keenum
actually does have a foot injury. We wondered why he

(01:11:20):
was pulled out of the preseason game versus the Rams
on Saturday, three and a half minutes remaining in the
first quarter. He does have a banged up foot to
go along with the calf that he had been nursing
the entire camp. They still haven't told us what they're
doing with Case Kingum, so I wanted to get that out.
We talked about Tim Boill. Many people thought, I should
say many some thought that Keenum would be cut and

(01:11:41):
Tim Boyle would be his team's emergency quarterback. So you're
not alone in terms of the conversation. Tim Boyle, Yeah,
he's the guy, Okay. I remember this twenty twenty one.
He started for the Lions on Thanksgiving. They lost to
the Browns thirteen to ten. They got what a field

(01:12:02):
goal late and they were trying to get the ball
back to try to go win it, and the Lions
remained winless. But Tim Boyle was the quarterback that they
did not play well at all. But no, I just thought,
you know, to your point, like case Keenum is not
is going to start the season injured, you know you
need a third quarterback. So Tim bowl has been here
and had some he had some decent moments in the preseason.

(01:12:22):
So I mean, does that signal okay, Keenum is not
that injured. He's going to be okay, and you're gonna
keep these three. I still just I don't like like
keen it.

Speaker 7 (01:12:32):
We talked about Alan Robinson, like, hey man, call it,
call it. I feel like that Case call it and dude,
we'll make you, will make you assistant quarterback coach to
George Johnson a job and the next year, when Gid
Johnson gets promoted J C you can become this team's quarterback.

Speaker 1 (01:12:47):
You know what I mean? Like, if you got that
great dynamic with CJ, you don't need to be a player.

Speaker 6 (01:12:51):
Yeah, this is true. You can say right in the
meeting rooms with him and just not put on shoulder pads. Also, uh,
some more clarity. Last yesterday this came out. NFL Player
Association vetoed in March. The emergency quarterback rule, which had
been adopted again in March, would have allowed teams to

(01:13:12):
call up a third quarterback from the practice squad and
unlimited number of times this season. The new rule would
have impacted what teams do with their fifty three Likely
everybody would have kept two quarterbacks. With the nflpa's decision
to veto this new rule, it now means, and it
looks like with the release of Tim Board that Case

(01:13:34):
Kingam is indeed gonna make this team. We'll see if
he's an eye on designation or not. It doesn't seem
that way right now, but it means, yeah, Case Kendam
is gonna get all his money over a million bucks,
and he's likely going to be his team's third string quarterback,
eating up a roster spot. That's my terminology, not from

(01:13:54):
the team. So that and then there's kingdomself of the
foot injury during the first quarter Saturday's preseason game against
the Rams, did not return. Jonathan Alexander also adds and
Kingdom could miss extended time, so we'll see what happens
with that moving forward. All right, let's come back, final segment,
close out the show. Open up the phone lines again.
You want to get in and talk to Manstros or

(01:14:16):
you want to get comments on the Texans cuts thus far,
the Texans pending opening up the twenty twenty four season
coming up here a week from this Sunday, Is that right?

Speaker 1 (01:14:26):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (01:14:26):
A week from this Sunday seven one three, two one
two five seven ninety your home in Houston Sports the
Legendary and the Mighty KB and.

Speaker 5 (01:14:33):
Me Stator Fleetech Christy Chance this next time on Sports
Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 6 (01:14:45):
All right to the good people at as Town, my
favorite city in America. Thank you for having us preset
number one on the audio dial. If you miss any
of today's next up, Please go to Sports seven ninety
dot com. At the conclusion of this program, Connor will
be gracious enough to put it up so that you
can hear me start very passionate soliloquy. I hate this day.

(01:15:06):
It's hard for me to see those men and all
the work that goes in all your life in chasing
this thing that's called the National Football League, and to
get right there where you can taste that you're almost there.
You're in training camp if you're fortunate enough to stay healthy,
which I was not, and you're almost there and you
get sent packing and sometimes you don't get another chance.
But then we also have to celebrate the young men

(01:15:27):
that do make it. Congratulations to those guys as the
roster cuts continue to come in. Gordy, that's here. Oh,
you can also go to the free iHeart radio app
and get caught up as well.

Speaker 7 (01:15:37):
And I know you're getting all emotional error, but that's
why the UFL exists, the XFL.

Speaker 1 (01:15:42):
In UFL coming to a town near you, the rock
will take your talent.

Speaker 6 (01:15:47):
No player dreams of dreams of playing in America. You
don't dream of playing in Canada or the UFL. And
also go to you by the CFL. You like football,
kind of come on up the camp in this country.
When you put in the work that we do, when
you put on a helmet and shoulder pass, you want
to go play the best brand of football in the world.

(01:16:09):
And that's that league that mostly plays their games on Sunday.
Good enough, see, And that's where I push back. There
are a lot of guys that are going to get
released today and they're going to land in better situations.
I keep telling you, and I said this in the
first segment to start the show. Never believe that the
eleven that run out on the field are the best eleven. Also,
don't believe that just because the guy isn't drafted that

(01:16:31):
he's not an NFL player. Also, don't believe that just
because the guy gets cut that he can't play football.
There are a lot of guys that can play. There
are only so many spots. And if you're the fifth
linebacker and the team needs a fourth tackle, they're going
to take the fourth tackle. You're the odd man out.
But this is where somebody will find you. You would

(01:16:53):
think there are a lot of players that are good enough.
In college. You see recruiters o Khalil mackn up from
South Florida.

Speaker 1 (01:17:01):
In high school. He lands in Buffalo.

Speaker 6 (01:17:04):
His only Division one, what they call the FBS offer
people miss Arian Foster. They missed Tony Romo. Somebody didn't
draft him, they missed. We can do this all day long.
Guys in the National Football League miss on players all

(01:17:25):
the time. So keep fighting a good fight and we
will keep you updated on who's in and who's out.
A couple things I want to note here that impact
the Texans and those of you that listen to the station,
some of the colleges, and some of the teams in
the area. The Titans quarterback situation is intriguing, as this
was yesterday afternoon. The Green Bay Packers are trading for

(01:17:48):
former Liberty star quarterback Malik Willis, also formerly of Auburn,
so he had been the Titans backup to will Levis
last year. He's now going to back up Jordan Love
in Green Bay, the Titans incumbent.

Speaker 1 (01:18:03):
It's not fair.

Speaker 6 (01:18:04):
The Titans current second string quarterback will be Mason Rudolph
played this college ball at Oklahoma State, happens to be
from the Charlotte area.

Speaker 1 (01:18:14):
May have said a racist second one perhaps.

Speaker 6 (01:18:16):
Set off one Miles Garrett and got his ass whoop
with a helmet not too many seasons ago. He's the backup,
so Mason Rudolph will back up Will Levison Tennessee this year.
I am not worried about the Titans because of their
quarterback situation. Also going to something near and dear to
your heart. A lot of LSU folks in this office
and around the city form an LSU standout second round

(01:18:37):
pick to the Panthers. Wide receiver Terrace Marshall Junior has
been released. I covered him his entire career in Carolina
outside of last season. Really like the kid flashed as
a second rounder. He's there, John Minchi, he never just
never happened for a lot of different reasons.

Speaker 7 (01:18:55):
The guy he was number three on that LSU twenty
nineteen championship team, behind you, Mar Chase and Justin Jefferson.
He was the third option and he'll love just as talented.
It's just it didn't It didn't pan out. But I
take a flyer the Texans. Really, the Texans have an
abundance of wide receivers, so I wouldn't take him here,
but somebody's gonna give him a chance. There's some teams

(01:19:17):
that have shot Washington from what's his face quarterback And
for the Commanders, I'm Jade Daniels.

Speaker 6 (01:19:24):
I'm going, hey, get this guy. I know him from LSU. Yeah,
they'll I don't think he'll be out of work now.
I don't know where he is currently from a health standpoint,
but I just wanted to get you that news as
it pertains to the most current releases. I'm just refreshing
here to see if the Texans have done anything else.

(01:19:44):
I don't see that they have. Oh, Jaguars got a
lot of the Jaguars wave more guys, so they should
be nearing where they need to be at because they
were one of the teams they got ahead of that thing.
Today is crappy backup quarterback cut Day. Uh who wasn't CJ.
Bether finds himself. He got quarterback E J. Perry got

(01:20:06):
released by the Jaguars.

Speaker 9 (01:20:07):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (01:20:08):
Somebody we talked about so much about the lack of
interior line depth. Something just popped up on my social
media here on the X platform. The Browns are releasing
defensive tackle Siaki Aka, their third round pick from a
year ago, says Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Planes dealer.

Speaker 1 (01:20:26):
Could that be a guy?

Speaker 6 (01:20:27):
You know?

Speaker 1 (01:20:28):
Demico likes to be started in the run game. You
know he went to college right uh?

Speaker 6 (01:20:33):
Siak went to where well, he started at l s U,
but he ended up wearing Yeah, I thought he ended
up being played his best year, said LS.

Speaker 1 (01:20:40):
I don't know. He's a third round pick, Isaiah Spiller.
Is he getting caught already?

Speaker 7 (01:20:44):
Wile don't know when I think, yeah, that's the Chargers
have released Isaiah Spiller from her A and m running back.

Speaker 1 (01:20:53):
Interesting, So just monitoring to make sure I'm not missing
anything else.

Speaker 7 (01:20:57):
Spring Native went to klond Collins up the road and
was a fourth round pick just two years ago by
the Chargers and Isaiah Spiller odd man out.

Speaker 1 (01:21:06):
That's one. Whoa, that's one.

Speaker 7 (01:21:08):
I forget British Brooks and those guys. I take me
Isaiah Spiller.

Speaker 6 (01:21:13):
Cowboys are waving Peyton Hendershot, who's a He was like
their backup, So they went with two tight ends. It
was Hindershot and another kid when they lost Dalton Schultz.
That's why they didn't re sign Schultz. I forget who
the other kid is that they like Jake Ferguson Ferguson
is the start of so Ferguson and Hindershot were.

Speaker 1 (01:21:32):
Kind of like one in one age.

Speaker 7 (01:21:33):
Any of the guy last year was it schoon maker
or shooting maker, whatever it was. I thought he was
showmakers in that group as well. Interesting, All right, let
me read this thing so I can get out. All right,

stud that you are, and you want to show up
in a big way when it's game time, when you're

(01:21:55):
watching your game. But then you got your post game,
if you will, where you need to get your mind
right to go in there and represent fellas.

Speaker 1 (01:22:01):

your mail enhancements and performance needs. That's get studurres dot com,
where they will deliver discreetly within a fifty mile radius. Complementary,
of course, they have three solutions that I suggest. Let

them up, behih, the quarter Horse when you need that

(01:22:25):
rapid action, the Thoroughbread a more long acting formula. And
then you got the Mustang, my favorite, where you get
a little bit of rapid and then you get also
that extra gear for that fifth quarter if you will. So,
it's a rapid action plus a long acting formula. Go
to get studrex dot com for more intel on that.
When you go there, sign up is very simple. They're

(01:22:47):
going to ask you to register on the site as
a users real quick. They'll confirm, they'll send you an
