Speaker 6 (00:12):
This sex This is next up with ten Northfleet ten
Chris Gordy.

Speaker 7 (00:19):
Let's see what's next next next?

Speaker 8 (00:23):
All right, ten o'clock here in Htown, welcome into Next
Up Sports Talk seven to ninety Chris Gordy and stand Norfleet.
As we get into the thick of it. You're Houston
Texans getting a big, big win yesterday over the Buffalo
Bills to improve two four.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
And one, and.

Speaker 8 (00:48):
We'll see what happens with the Kansas City Chiefs tonight
taking on the Saints. If the Saints can do it tonight,
find a way to get a win in Kansas City.
You're Houston Texans will be tied with the Kansas City
Chiefs for the best record in the a f C.
Pretty crazy stuff. But here we are, Texans sitting at
four and one, finding a way to get it done

(01:12):
now as all for their wins by less than a
touchdown this year. We're gonna get into it. We'll take
your call seven one three two one two five seven
ninety seven one three two one two five seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
And just off the top. Stan, I start with this.
I I get it.

Speaker 8 (01:32):
It is the National Football League. A win is a
win is a win. Don't you do it?

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Going? Don't piss me off. I'm already hot with two
a h ov Well, man, I uh, I don't know, Man.

Speaker 8 (01:42):
I'd like to see them put to more completely. No,
I'd like to see them like the best team May morning.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
We celebrate. It's a good win. That's what we're going
to do. It's a good win, Monica. You gonna do this?
But Stan, what going today? One?

Speaker 8 (02:04):
It's not pretty, it doesn't matter. It's okay. An ugly
win here, there's fine. Two ugly wins here, four ugly wins.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
This team has played in fourteen one score games in
the Demico Ryan's era. Maybe more than that. That's great.
Somebody going seven in a row. How about you're up
what was it fourteen to three in this one? Run
away with the damn GAMEJ three and put this one away?
See and then you keep leaving the door of every

(02:31):
week six ten and Kirby. When CJ. Stroud starts over there,
they're like ten and two. We don't lose ball games
when number seven is under center over there, you know what.

Speaker 8 (02:41):
This has the feel of, You're gonna play close games
all year.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
You can't get row. Don't do that. This team never
put it all together. You know what, good people of Houston,
there will be a time where you're at right now,
that's second take.

Speaker 8 (02:57):
It's a good it's a good win. I don't want
to discount from the buildings. This isn't this is a
really good win. Now, now, Shaker players, it might be different.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Oh hell, if Nico is out there in the second half,
if Joe Mixon starts, the Christian Harris is on the field,
we can do that all day long. The bottom line is,
I told you what was my prescore prediction. I put
it on Social I had twenty four to twenty three Texans.
And the reason I said that is because in the end,
seven is going to make a play and the dude

(03:26):
that wears seventeen and white on Sunday afternoon, he's gonna
do something dumb. But if he did something dumb, and
it should have been two interception. But does this look
like the team you thought they would look like? Ooh
the Texans. Yeah, no, we thought they'd be the number
one offense in the least and That's my point.

Speaker 8 (03:41):
Again, it's not the takeaway at all. I'm behind that one. Yeah,
I mean it's this is what you want in the NFL.
Survive in advance, you just win. I don't care if
it came on a you know, they called a passive
affirits calling you want on that how you win. But
we could also sit here and be a little critical
and say, guys, you look worse than you did last year.

(04:04):
They looked at it, Steve you at they looked different.
The offensive line's healthy. You're supposed to be better. They
look different than they did a year ago. In some regards,
they are better. We didn't have to call Larmy Tonsl's name. Now,
there were penalties. We'll get to that third quarter as
we passed through exactly where the wheels came off here
allowing the Buffalo Bills to score seventeen unanswered points that

(04:27):
just can't happen right in your own building. We will
talk about the third quarter penalties and what the bleep
that was, But for now, I remind you that quarterback
in white, and yes he did dribble his own head
off the turf over there at NRG.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
That is the quickest clearance of concussion protocol I've ever seen.
I got to think they didn't do a concussion part.
So Mike Florio Pro Football Talk, he actually wrote a piece.
It was up a little while ago at actual how
much time he actually it was. It's only like two
and a half minutes of actual game time that Josh

(05:04):
Allen missed. Well because it was third down.

Speaker 8 (05:07):
Trubisky came in and the now and they handled the
ball off rights, had one point and then correct and
the next drive Josh Allen came back.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
No, No, I think it's the other way. There's a drive,
Trubisky comes out there for one handoff and then Josh
Alla takes in it. But the point is, I don't
know that he truly was able to comclear concussion. We
got about an hour and forty five minutes to really
unpack what happened there, Josh Allen, I remind you I
gave this that last week, gord It. He finished top
three in the MVP voting twice in his career, including

(05:36):
last season. Coming into Week five, he was leading the
league and quarterback rating, spearheading an offense that was second
in scoring. Now, the Miko should feel really good. The
Miko should feel good. I'll scratch the Really, the Miko
should feel good about what the defense was able to do. Granted,
your point guarded without Khalil Shakir their number one receiver,

(05:59):
but it ain't like Leo Shakir is damn Justin Jefferson
or Jamar Chase. I mean, he's a solid player.

Speaker 8 (06:06):
But we saw the rookie kid on Coleman have rookie
moments and he was trying to be the one and
you ain't had he wasn't ready.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
To be the one. And that's a very fair observation
by you. I choose and where are you? Houston? Seven
three two one two five seven ninety. How do we
want to categorize the game on Sunday? It was to
me symbolic of the twenty twenty four Texans thus far.
There was some really good, there was some really bad,

(06:33):
and then there were some stabilizing factors. Here's to you,
Kymie Fairband making a fifty nine yard we now have confidence,
Kymie Fairband fifty plus yards. Give him a shot, He's
gonna knock it home. Kymie Fairband, your Texans franchise leading scorer.
Mind you getting it done? C J. Stroud Yet another

(06:55):
game winning fourth quarter, come from behind. I'll put in
position to do some good things. We will. Also, they
also had two terrible plays department. Listen, we're gonna highlight
all the conor what I tell you. I told you
Gordon's gonna do some bleep like this. We're gonna highlight
all the positives.

Speaker 8 (07:14):
It's like getting getting a's on your first two tests.
You're getting that's on your third and then at the
end of the turn. I gotta be in this class.
Don't worry about a midterm. How did you start and
how did you finish? The bottom line is Cole Ridge
Bernard straut to fourth put this team in position. Daria Gumbawale,
you drop the damn pass. Could have been costly. I

(07:35):
mean it could have been really costly, but you had
a five yard run when it was time to We also,
almust get into the play calling.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
What the hell was that? I must tip my cap
to an elder statesman over there that had no business
in the game, but he was money when we needed
him to be. I'll tell you who that guy is.
Let's go to the phone lines. Gordon. You know, normally
we don't open it up. In the first segment, but
I want to do that here because I see somebody
that I really like. I heard him on the Salisbury
Show as well. kJ up in Cyprus. Good morning to you, Hey,

(08:06):
what's up fellas?

Speaker 9 (08:07):
Again?

Speaker 10 (08:07):
As usually why I love to show you out and
know what it is MJ to goat. You're right, Stan,
I was on the show earlier. There was another point
that I wanted to mention earlier. You probably I'm clearing
trefence again with saying I'm glad we won.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
It was a hell of a win.

Speaker 10 (08:22):
But in addition to the fact that Josh Shallon had
argument the worst game he's had in a wild and
we speaked out a win that ended up itself says
a lot to me. But with something else that really
I find very promising. It is the fact that here
it is, this was game number twenty two for CJ
in his career, and we can count, literally on one
hand and not fill up those one end that one end,

(08:44):
how many multi turnover games he's had.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
In the course of his career.

Speaker 10 (08:48):
The fact that he was able to have almost consecutively
an interception, a fumble and the fourth of the intention
of grounding, really and almost in succession, still see this
is what This is what separates young players from the
smart players that last dropt. CJ made some pass his way,
he threw the ball out of bounds. On the surface,

(09:09):
it doesn't seem like a whole lot, but that was
smart football. He knew for the most part he don't
needed about four or five yards. He got that in
that out route for Don Shultz, and then rather than
try to make the big play and play hero ball,
he kept his kicker a chance to win. That to
me says a lot about an intelligent players. There are
some things that do need to clean up, but I

(09:29):
saw some adjustments made in the second half. I still
can't race easy with the fact that we came. We
had a close game, which Allen having such a horrible game,
But overall, I take a win any day of the week.
There's some things that we need to clean up, but
I saw some promise and James in the game too.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
Man, let the show fellas appreciate it, my man, kJ
and cypress on a overreaction, underreaction, proper reaction by kJ
and Cypress. I like what he did there, Gorday, Let's
wrap up this segment with a call Andre Johnson giving
us a shot from the north side. Not that, Andre,
though I did see Dre. What's up, Andre, hey man,
get in charge of show, Thank you, sir. I got

(10:04):
a question. What was up with number two? The hunt
returner kept catching the ball this after ten yard line,
putting us in bad, stunting position.

Speaker 8 (10:13):
Trying to prove his worth Tea. Remember Stephen Simms made
a boat head play.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
So now Robert Woods the shine to it to be
got expends. So Robert Woods is the elder statesman. And
I'll tease that as we go to break here. Andre,
You're not wrong. I have some questions about some coaching
decisions over there. Not so much Demko, more Bobby Sloyd

(10:40):
and then Frank Ross in this special team situation. Robert
Woods did he help the Texans more than he hurt them?
Andre on the north side. I appreciate it.

Speaker 6 (10:50):
Brother.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
We'll talk more about the Texans, how they got it done.
We need to brag on CJ that defense and an
unprecedented hero are not unprecedented. That's what I'm gonna talk about.
Ceremonious hero. The guy that I thought kept this whole
thing together, Gordon, And it is not a name that
we talk about a Ton Brother bald his asso over there.
NRG Texans win walk off fashion. This is how you

(11:14):
do it twenty three to twenty Kate Be and me.
Next up is the show where real Texas talking.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
Listen with your non Next up pictures tremble with fear.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
You run all the rest hold on com three, run over.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
With Northfleet and Gordion. Next up, Bellies, tremble with hunger.
Lunchtime is so close till then show down on More.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
Next time, Sam Martin gets it out of there, sailing
kick Woods from the forty one pluck us moving eight
seconds seven seconds as Woods stumbles.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
I pu stan, why a y'all coming back with a
damn Robert Woods punk return because they needed all of
those yards by Robert Woods on that final drive leading
up to the Kymie Bear the Chymie Fairband fifty nine
yard to welcome in the next up on an old
reaction underreaction proper reaction Monday, and I can't stand it's

(12:24):
not personal. Just what are we doing with Robert Woods
returning kicks? Stop this? We had somebody called in on
the north side right before we went to break Robert
Woods Man. You had this team pented down on the
two yard line by catching the ball like that. Stop
doing that, Robert Woods, what did it have? Fishly, I'm
looking at the game book now. Robert Woods had five

(12:45):
punk returns sixty six yards. They average thirteen point two.
He fired caught two of them. Yeah, but one of
the fair catchers again was inside the three yard line.
Stop that. But on the final drive and Adam Westland,
I we're talking about this in real time. I made
the comment to Wex Gordon and somebody will pull up

(13:05):
the sequence while I'm talking through With that final drive
from the Robert Woods catching the punt, you know, the
Bills go to three and out they kick, I was like,
why Istep Viz not back there? Why is Tank Dale
not back there? Like, give me somebody that can give
me some explosive yardage, get out of bounds, preserved a
time and then we kick. In other words, I don't

(13:27):
want to give Daria Gumbawale the chance to touch the ball,
fumble the ball. I don't know what. Bobby Sloyd, who
was not in his bag on Sunday, I don't want
to give anybody a chance to muck this up. I
want to return him back there that can get some yardage,
get out of bounds, let's kick the walk off on the.

Speaker 8 (13:44):
Light on the very final play. So Robert Woods is
the reason you want to game. This is what I'm
talking about.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
So Robert Demiko elects to keep Robert Woods in there,
with Frank Ross probably elected to keep Bobby Trees in there.
Robert Woods catches the punt, he immediately goes urd of.
He gets as much yards as he can get, gets
down preserving some time. Here comes the offense. Darlray, you
get five yards and then let's kick this thing and
go celebrate. So it was just very interesting, and I'll

(14:12):
make that same point. The kickoff return that Robert Woods had,
My god, he was running slow as hell. I wanted
somebody else. Obviously, no Damian Pierce. They don't want to
put Metchi back there because they trust him less. The
kickoff return, the one kickoff return for Robert Woods that
went thirty one yards. It might have been sixty one
yards had they had somebody else returning, because the blocking

(14:34):
was there. Just Robert Woods, the elder statesman he is,
doesn't have the gide up.

Speaker 8 (14:39):
But in the moment I thought they might consider punt block,
you know, sending some folks, I would have gone with
sixteen seconds. But yes, I think they thought that, and
rightfully so that with Kymie fair Barn being as good
as he is, that you get you can get into
his range here the game winner.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
So I would have gone pump block. And I'm gonna
tell you why I would have gone pump block, because
even if something funky happens and the ball goes out
of the back of the end zone, what it's a
safety and I still win. Right, So there was nothing
and I can steal. You know, Bobby Trees may not
get the return, but he can still field the punt.

(15:21):
I would have gone after the block, like but Demko
lex knock, you hit the punter and it's a personal fall.
It's an automatic first down for buff You just can't
do it. And they're you know you're you're going over,
So I'm willing to take. I might block it or
they might muck it up and the ball goes out
of the back of the end zone. That's two positives
to the one negative is if we touch the kicker,

(15:43):
bad idea. So you coach your guys up. Nonetheless, you
get Robert Woods. What is this? What is this? Robert Woods?
Oh yeah, here it is. I'm trying to get the
exact yards. That's why I've been looking up this. Robert
Wood's thirteen yard return from the punt. It was fourth
and ten Buffalo punts from the three yard line. All right,
since we're here, let's also do this. I change my mind.
Let's take a phone call seven three two one two

(16:05):
five seven ninety. I'm underreacting on this Robert Woods as
a returner. This is horrible. Frank Ross, please do something
about this. Man down involved on the two yep ren
Frow and most city get in here. What's going on? Fellows?

Speaker 11 (16:19):
Look here, man saying, I agree with you when you said,
uh that there's something that you have a problem with.
And that's what Bobby, Bobby so and I really believe
in those these first four games, even though is understood
that he's a second year man in the offense of

(16:40):
play college. And now you can begin to tell because
if you notice, he's one of these games that God
is talking about. He's coming out slow out of the gates.
It's almost as if he's not coming out with his
first fifteen players and attacking the scheme of a defense,
and he's going against attacking the team that you're playing
against him, and looks like it's just slow to get

(17:01):
off the ground the way he's just really is doing
his play caller, and then he asked to get active,
and he's not as good as making changes as the
game go throughout his first fifteen plays that they normally
draw up. But let me hear what you gotta say,
you and Gard as far as on the preprayer of
each game plan, how slow he's really getting not the gig,

(17:22):
and I think it has to start from now.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
So guys, let me hear you got safe, all right,
appreciate the call. That's Renfro and most City giving us
a shot here on next up, all right, gordere I
put this at stand sports Man in real time from
the press box. This was teaching tape from both sides,
Joe Brady on Buffalo's sideline and Bobby slog and the

(17:45):
Texans sideline. This was teaching tape on how not to
call plays. International Football League For those that may be
casual fans. You like the team, and I won't bore
you with all of the intricacies and nuances because quite frankly,
there's still a ton about football that I learn every day.
But here's what I do know. Offensive play call It

(18:07):
is not just looking at a sheet and going, let
me just pick one of five plays on this sheet
that we came into the game saying, in this situation
called play, you have to have a feel sequencing, rhythm, timing.
You must be calculated. You got to take into account
real decisions on the field, and what are all the

(18:28):
emotions going on, like you gotta factor in a lot
of stuff. It looked to me overall, like Bobby Sloyd,
there were things that sounded good Gordy in his head
coming into a game that were bad ideas during the game.
Allow me to present exhibit A. Let me get this straight.
You're up eleven points. You choose to go forward on

(18:52):
fourth and inches. You do a hurry up to the
line of scrimmage where Smooth and day Kwan Jones had
been whooping your ass their defensive line against our offensive
interior all night or all day, and you're going to
hurt to the line of scrimmage while up eleven to
call dar Rey a goomba wale in the a gaps

(19:14):
up the middle. That's dumb. Here's what you could have done.
I have no problem with you're going for on on
fall down. I have no problem with what you calling
a run play. I do have a problem with what
you calling again inside run play when everybody knows there's
no threat a CJ. Stroud on a quarterback keeper because
everybody knows he's been hit enough. We'll talk about Matt
throughout the course of the remaining hour and a half

(19:35):
of this program. You were up eleven. Kick the field goal, Gord.
It go up to touchdowns, especially the press on them
in the first half. You want to be boiling in
the second half because you need points and it's a
close game. Whatever.

Speaker 8 (19:48):
But it was fourteen to three. It's fourth and one
at the Buffalo sixteen. Take the points. See it's seventeen
to three.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
You done here. You got another field goal before halftime,
it would have been twenty to three, you know, and
then you get a field go out of half it
would have been twenty three to three. I mean, you know,
you see where I'm going. I mean, I just it's
the NFL. In college people do crazy stuff. I don't
hit it. In the NFL. You take points whenever you
can get points in this league, all right, take points.
So Joe Joe Brady, Bobby Slow. Oh and there were

(20:17):
some people on social media they would call the mister
Slow's performance on Sunday and that was just one example.
They were calling him Bobby O'Brien. I saw that pop up.
Not the best day.

Speaker 8 (20:32):
Well, can we talk about the elephant in the room.
Kim Makers had a couple of nice runs, but this
team is missing Joe Mixon dearly. They can't do what
they want on offense with him with him out. It's
just again, I don't want to say it was completely
awful because cam Makers did the touchdown run was the
nice was a nice team, but man, they cannot I

(20:55):
mean they had they didn't eve rush for one hundred
yards as a team. Stand like it's they're having to
be a little bit one dimensional with CJ throwing the
football and you got the weapons to do it. But
you know when Nico left it really I mean that's
when Buffalo made their comeback.

Speaker 1 (21:09):
All Right, we'll continue talking about this thing. You you
bring up some some things. I definitely want to get
to Gordon's seven one three two point two five seven ninety.
My very first note as we go to the fleet sheet,
why is Daria Goomblewalle starting over cam Acres and why
is he getting handoffs before cam Akers watch the game?

(21:30):
Cam Acres runs the football better than Darrey Darray has value.
I'm damn glad he's on the team. There is a
role for him. The role is not giving him the
ball before you give it to cam Acres. From a
rushing standpoint, cam Daria Goombawlee had fifteen carries for two
yards of carry. Cam Akers touch the ball nine times.

(21:52):
I had four point seven and he has the touchdown.
Stop this, Bobby Sloan, what are we doing? What we
doing here? All right? There's much more to get to.
We got to talk coaching. We got to talk offensive
line play, penalties and whatever else you guys want to
get in on seven one, three two, seven ninety. Next
up on an overreaction, undreaction, proper reaction Monday.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
When Fleet streets Houston listens.

Speaker 7 (22:17):
Yes, I have a great shot already a future brand.
I'm liking your stuff.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
Statn or Fleet ten Chris Gordy are next up on
Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
We're really happy for Diggs.

Speaker 12 (22:32):
You know how important this win was for him, Know
how important this week was for him. Anytime you're going
against your old team. Like a lot of guys knew
we had to get this one for Diggs. Trying not
to make a big deal out of it throughout the
entire week, but we know it. I guess emotional like
all the great things that he did there right too,

(22:53):
as a as a receiver, as a player like he
stood out.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
Man and he made a lot of plays.

Speaker 12 (22:57):
He helped that team in some critical moments and down
the place, y'all run, so man, no bigger game for him.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
Welcome back in the next up. That was the voice
of head coach to Miko Ryans. And we knew that.
You know, this was a big game for Stefan Diggs
want some get back versus Buffalo. Josh Allen down played it,
Diggs down played it. Organizationally, they downplayed it. But Diggs
wanted to go out there and go to work, or
do you know he did? And some of you, including

(23:26):
a certain somebody in this studio with me, somebody and
many of you, I should say, were concerned, Oh, if
Tank Deal or Joe Mixon or Nico has better numbers
than stuff, you know, when is he gonna start erupting?
And specifically with this game, if we're five weeks in,
it's coming into this game. People were like, well, if

(23:48):
he doesn't get a chance to show out versus Buffalo,
is he gonna become petulant to be a problem on
the sideline. Well, they appeaced him. Step Diggs, take them
the ball. What He had the most targets, tied with
Dray and eight targets for Diggs most on the team,
Tied for most in receptions with Darray at six, had
the most yards eighty two yards. His longest pass and

(24:11):
catch I can catch and run eighteen yards. So Diggs
did not score but the first downs and that's what
I'll do probably going into second take Tuesday. Of his
six catches, how many of those were for first down yardage?
It seemed like every time he touched the ball he
was doing the celebration waving the hands first down like
a couple sliding catches. Oh yeah, Digs, he's been great.

(24:36):
I mean he's been a nice, nice edition. But it
also just feels like it is not opened up, like
this offense is not fully big play capability.

Speaker 8 (24:48):
I mean big plays as this offense made. The Nico
Collins pass was a big play, but that was basically
it this week, they don't have a ton of explosives
on offense. You're right there.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
I would say a part of the reason, it may
be a small part, but part of the reason that
Nico's having this type of year is because teams know
Stefan Diggs wearing that jersey one is still capable of
absolutely destroying you. Kudos to Bobby Sloyck how he has
you Stefan coming into yesterday and even in yesterday without

(25:20):
Nico uh in a large part of that game, and
certainly in the second half not having Nico, which Stephen Northwest,
I'm coming to you. You concerned about this Nico Hammy.
They make it sound inside the building that he and
Titus could both return for like this week could return.
What I didn't read you? What did Eric has Aaron Wilson.

(25:43):
Aaron Wilson said just that, and I paraphrase, it doesn't
appear to be like IR designation that I feel good
about it, all right. So for me, one, we know
Nico has some injury history. I can't ignore that. I
certainly am hoping for the best because I want him
to keep this up. What Nico has been doing, because
he's been absolutely CESSATIONI that was a beautiful play. CJ

(26:06):
drops back, Listen ripped, and there's Nico busted coverage by Buffalo.
Nico runs right by safety. They looked like they were
playing quarters. The corner knew it, but the safety was
looking at something else. That's a them problem. Nico scores.
How long was that touchdown by Nico? Sixty seven yards?
One of two catches for Nico Collins. The other thing

(26:27):
Nico's injury history and those quick twitch guys they just
played their fifth game, Gordon. Those muscles, those quick twitch muscles,
the calf, the handy, the quad, those things can be
problematic over the course of a long season. So it's
just something. Those two things is why I'm not ready

(26:47):
to just dismiss it. But I hope that it's okay. Nico.
You are bad man, brother good ness, Nico Collins real deal,
a legit wide receiver one in this league when he's
healthy and rolling many more things.

Speaker 8 (27:00):
Contrary to what you thought about him coming into this year.
I just said, show me he's proven. I said, show
me that you can go do it back to back years.
Like every other great.

Speaker 1 (27:07):
Number one that we've seen, still leads the still leaguing
in the league at shaving yards ahead of Jamar Chas
and Justin Jefferson. He keeps that up, bad, bad, even
if he doesn't finish number one. If Nico College finishes
the league, finished the year top five, top ten in
the league, people gonna go, all right, he's legit. Just
to give you what Aaron said.

Speaker 8 (27:29):
The Texans are even optimist, or they're optimistic Collins hasn't
suffered long term injury and even have not ruled him out,
potentially being back as soon as next Sunday's game at
not at New England. I just said that, Yeah, I like,
it's yeah, I'm just repeating. Actually, it's the thought is
maybe maybe back this week. I was concerned, would say,
or on the side of caution and go, well, let's

(27:51):
keep him out of the week.

Speaker 1 (27:52):
We'll see what they elect to do. Demiko will take
the podium about two fifteen this afternoon. He will be
asked about Nico's health most assuredly. The other thing, Titus
Howard starting right tackle. He did not play. He's dealing
with a hamstring. Rookie Blake Fisher, second round out of
Notre Dame. He gets to start at right tackle. He
was the one that got beat which allowed the CJ.

(28:13):
Strouds fumble. The sack fumble ball pops out. It was
Fisher that got his bleap handed to him. So you're
gonna have some rookie growing pains. All in all, I
thought he was decent at times. I'm curious to see
what the Pro Football focus great is. It sounds like
Titus could be back at his right tackle spot by
the New England game. By the way, that's a twelve
new kickoff at New England coming up this Sunday. New

(28:35):
England won yesterday. I thought they went in trouble. Oh,
I just had somebody on the line who we have Sorry,
I don't know who that was. We just have callback
seven one three two on two five seven ninety. I
put you back up west side, joone. Let's talk to
Texas bro.

Speaker 11 (28:47):
Day the man.

Speaker 13 (28:48):
I am going to you guys.

Speaker 6 (28:50):
Man, Hey, man, I think I think it's an over
reaction on Guardi's pardover on that end, man, because if
you look around the league at any other team, man,
the first month of the season is a struggle for
any just trying to get the commodity around with any team.

Speaker 9 (29:05):
Man.

Speaker 6 (29:06):
But yesterday was one of the times I've seen them
play a full complimentary game, and I was proud of that.

Speaker 10 (29:12):
Man.

Speaker 6 (29:12):
We had some piloties everybody do, but I saw them
clean up a whole lot of things. Man, So getting man,
I just wanted to say, man, coot us to the
Texas man. They done what they're supposed to do. Now
we don't have to go to Buffalo. All you can
think about going to Buffalo in the playoff time. Maybe
if they keep it up and they get that ten
and six recommend everything comes to your futuit on.

Speaker 1 (29:34):
Joe, you say, play complimentary football. You aren't getting nervous
on the CJ interception or the CJ fumble late in
the second half.

Speaker 6 (29:42):
No. You know What's one of the things I can
say this about this Gordy man is that he doesn't
make me nnice because the boy is he's so calm
and what he does, he's never overreacted. So when I
see that, and this is the second year else that
second year of them complimenting each other as far as
Demiko do when he's supposed to do all of them alearned,

(30:02):
but it never makes me nervous. He's always a place
where I say we won play away. It is I mean,
the young man doesn't go down with the hamstring, gets
what we blow them boys out the water would.

Speaker 1 (30:14):
Like the belief, so appreciate your westside.

Speaker 8 (30:16):
CJ doesn't throw an interception and lose a fumble the
second maybe they do bow them. I mean the you know,
everything is relative here, but we cannot just look past
the mistakes they made. Those were bad mistakes and luckily
it didn't cost you. Your defense played pretty lights out
on Josh Allen all day. When you lose the turnover battle.

(30:36):
The Texans lost the turnover battle by minus two, your chancing,
your chance of winning is like thirteen percent of something crazy.
It's like you typically don't win those games. They found
a way to do it. But it's like they came
when you were already, Like you're already in control of
the game. If you don't make the mistakes again, I

(30:58):
just go back. This is a game the Texans should
have run away with. You're up seventeen to three at halftime.
If they would have yet, I mean, you were settling
for field goals. You convert one or two of those
field goals in the touchdowns. This thing's a blowout. They
don't even they don't even enough chance to come back.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
You mentioned the touchdown and on the way out. On
the way back we'll take Paul and bell Air and
d in the galleria. Domiico has a lot to be
happy about. But there's also some things some coaching tape here.
We must get into these penalties and who were the
perpetrators in the third quarter. We already talked about the turnovers.
And then also I can't negate James Cook was running

(31:37):
all through their defense. This is a problem. They gave
up a ton of yards on the ground. What the
hell is going on on the run defense? And I
still need to holler and highlight somebody on the Texans
defense that played lights bleeping out. Will phone calls to come.
Sept One three, two, one two five, seven ninety, the
legendary KB and me were real Texans talk and.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
Listen this is next up stuff with Stan Northfleet and
and Chris Gordy during this next stage on Sports Talk
seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
It's going by fans here on the Sports Talk seven
ninety studio nestled in between Uptown Park and river Oaks.
Fleet me at stand Sportsman. He is at Chris Gordon.
We are at Sports Talk seven ninety wrapping up our one.
Texans find themselves four and one second place right now
in the AFC. I would say it's I'm trying to think.

(32:37):
Do I think Buffalo is a better to the Buffalo
team that showed up yesterday? Is not better than the
Minnesota team that we saw in their place? Buffalo playing
without some starters, obviously the Texans were as well. Stan
Fleet Gordy again, wrapping up this sement, taking your phone calls,
lines are loaded. Want to get to some of you here, Gordion,
if you don't mind, but I just want to highlight

(33:00):
at the third quarter. What is this third quarter? Play
by play penalty? Dalton Schultz taunting? That's fifteen yards penalty.
Jalen Petrie Unnoss said roughness, that's fifteen yards penalty. Darial Gumbowale,
he's a veteran false start five yards pre snap penalty.
What are we doing? There's Shaq Mason offensive holding. Okay,

(33:21):
that could happen. It didn't look old legree just but
there's again another veteran shack Mason. What are we doing?

Speaker 6 (33:27):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (33:27):
Kenyon Green ineligible man downfield. Now that penalty was declined,
but damn D'Angelo Ross. You can't run out of bounds,
come back and be the first one to kick it,
the first one to touch it. Excuse me. After the kickoff,
I thought it was a little bit the officials could
have let that one go. He touched the ball at
the same time as one of his teammates. They could
have let that go. I thought the officials were nitpicking there.

(33:50):
Penalty tim Settle, defensive holding five yards one, two, three, four, five,
six penalties in the third quarter alone for the Texans
after having zero at the break. Gordon, It's just it's
one of the reasons that Buffalo was able to climb
back into the game and score seventeen unanswered. Tell me

(34:13):
real quick.

Speaker 8 (34:13):
We had a tweeter who said, he said, I don't
know what that last call was talking about, but like uh,
he said, talk about the first time ever. CJ had
me nervous. Seriously, he looked bad in the fourth quarter
the interception and then and then the fumble. I mean, yeah,
it looked like they were doing everything they could to
give the game away rather than let's go get the win.

Speaker 1 (34:37):
Yeah, there are there are a lot of things that
that Domico is gonna look at the tape and go, hey, guys,
what about that? What about that? And there's some things
we will highlight again. We can't unpack everything in two hours.
We will do our best. Let's do this. I problems, guys.
We go to the phone line. Let's go. Paul and
Bell are get in here.

Speaker 14 (34:53):
Brother, Hey, Stan, you called it again. You said I
think you were one of the few people who said
that they would.

Speaker 5 (34:59):
Win this game.

Speaker 14 (35:00):
And so congratulations with right. You know, I only take
positives from this game. In the first four games, they
probably led the league in three slap penalties, and in
this game they played a clean half. Number two, they
were able to use tank tail more in this offense,
and most importantly that in the fourth quarter after those
two very uncharacteristic turnovers by c J, the Demico's defense

(35:24):
was able to hold them. Now, I had a question
about the rule. I was a little surprised that they
desired to throw the ball three times, because isn't it
true that if you're if you're holding at the goal
line to safety, does that also work for a running play.
I'll hang up and listen.

Speaker 1 (35:42):
Oh, that's a good question. If you get called holding
on a running play. Had Buffalo been called will holding
on a running play coming out of their being backed
up on their own end zone? Would it have been
a safety? It's got to be. It's got to be
in I'm saying, in the end zone. But I'm just saying,
if you call if the running play and they get

(36:04):
called for holding and the ball is coming out of
the end no matter what, oh well.

Speaker 8 (36:08):
The ball has to come. Yeah, it has to be.
That's interesting. I don't I have to think about it.
But no, forget where the ball is or what the
play is. Any holding that occurs occurs in the end
zone is a safety. So that's what he's asked. That's
the question right there, one regardless of what the play
is or what it produces.

Speaker 1 (36:24):
Andy in the gallery, go ahead, brother, you're right, Schlowrick.
I don't know what he's doing.

Speaker 15 (36:30):
But that fourth down call running up the middle, hell,
they didn't do it. They didn't do nothing running the
ball all game. If you take away the touchdown run
by Acres, yep, they carried the ball twenty four times
for fifty two yards. That's two point one yards of carry.

Speaker 6 (36:46):
That was horrible.

Speaker 15 (36:48):
And why is Acres only carrying the ball eight times?
And they're carrying it fifteen times.

Speaker 13 (36:53):
What the hell is that?

Speaker 1 (36:54):
I'm saying the same thing. And why are they giving
Dolray all this love in terms of allowing him to
care read the ball when cam Akers is the better
running back, I don't, I don't get it.

Speaker 15 (37:05):
Doesn't make no sense whatsoever. And and Acres is the
better receiver out in the backfield as well. Here's another thing. Okay,
so that the bomb to uh Collins Nico, they had
mass protection. Did you see that they don't had two
people out in the past pattern. Yeah, they had eight
guys blocking. Are you telling me that tink Dale can't

(37:28):
run that route in the second half?

Speaker 1 (37:30):
It's interesting.

Speaker 15 (37:33):
Those safeties were so close up. Well, ye needed to
try to something over the cup.

Speaker 1 (37:39):
So I appreciate the call. And Gordy, I don't know,
And I'll look at the tape when it comes out
and we'll wash the coaches take look, it's clear that
same thing that Jacksonville did, the same thing that other
teams have all said. They were trying to prevent the
Texans from taking the top off. One of the reasons
and a big reason why Nico scored that touchdown. Go
back and look at the same that was standing on

(38:01):
the hash on that play. The safety had a mental
error and Nico made him pay for it. That's not
Nico's fault. But teams are going to prevent the Texans,
at least try from getting the ball thrown over their head.
People are going back up and make Bobbis layd and
CJ take the check downs. And I thought there was
some time. There are a couple other times that I
thought CJ could have just dumped the ball to the

(38:23):
back in the backfield, and he just shook it off.
He wanted to get something in the middle of the field.
So it can be boring, but go look at the
guys that win titles. Boring wins you championships. Now you're
gonna have your splash plays, but ain't gonna be a
lot of them. I just would like to see them
win a game convincingly. That's all I'm asking for. We'll

(38:43):
get there. Go ahead it right now for on one
over the course of a seventeen game season. Ish, let's
go out to the North Shore. What's happening with you
this morning?

Speaker 13 (38:51):
Hey?

Speaker 1 (38:51):
What's going on?

Speaker 15 (38:52):
Man?

Speaker 5 (38:53):
Just pretty happy about that win last night last night, yesterday. Yes,
I just wanted to call and since y'all was talking
about turnovers, I know CJ had them too at the
end towards the end of the game. But I feel
like one turnover was that was that turnover on downs
right before the first half. I feel like that was

(39:14):
a killer, right yeah.

Speaker 1 (39:15):
When they run up to the line of scrimmage and
ran a horrible play call on fourth and one. Yeah,
fourth inches, you know, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 5 (39:22):
I just wanted to hear what y'all think about that
series right there, because man, you know, I was really
hoping they did that double did where you know, they
scored in the end and then score again. But that
was just a killer right there.

Speaker 1 (39:33):
No question.

Speaker 5 (39:34):
I'm gonna let y'all go and you'll have a good one.

Speaker 1 (39:36):
I do the same. Thank you for listening, Isshing north Shore.
If you didn't hear how we started the show, we
brought that up, Gordion. I don't have an issue with
Sloyd going forward on fourth down. I have an issue
with the play call, and I have an issue with
the play call given. At the end of the first half.
You were up eleven points, kick the field, go go
up two touchdowns. There's a huge difference and being up

(39:58):
ten points and versus being up two touds kick the
ball or if you're gonna go for one on fourth,
don't just run the ball up the middle with dar
Rea Gumbawale. Stop this.

Speaker 8 (40:08):
Well yeah that was with that was with seven fifty
five still to go. They did score the field goal
before the half that made it for seventeen to three.
But the point being, had they taken the points on
the fourth and one, it could have been twenty to
three to twenty to three. And then you come out
and get points when you got the ball to start
the second half again they hold you the field goal,
but it would have been twenty three to three.

Speaker 1 (40:30):
You know. It's just yeah, I just I'm of the matcher.
In the NFL.

Speaker 8 (40:33):
You take points whenever you can get them, particularly in
the first half. Like you you feel bold in the
second half late in the game and it's close, okay,
but like this, this is the league.

Speaker 1 (40:43):
It is hard to score in this league. Take points
whenever you got them, no question about it. Caesar Jason,
we'll catch you on the other side. A lot of

Let's see what's next next.

Thanks, let's kick off the second half. Find a hot

doing that as we are your home for Houston Sports
here at seven ninety Fleet Gordy, Cannady McGovern, thank you
for what you're doing. And we hit the ground running
this morning. Texans win. I said I thought they'd win
in a close room, gord excuse me, twenty four to
twenty three. They end up winning twenty three twenty. Some

(43:06):
people are saying the worst game CJ has played in
his career. I'm not ready to go there. There's a
lot to like, but there are some things that need
to be proved upon. We will get to as much
of it as we can. You all will help us
do that. Let's go to Katie now, Jason, let's talk
some Texans and kicking the ball to winning man.

Speaker 13 (43:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (43:28):
I've heard you and a couple of other pundits on
the radio and sports talk about how sixty our field
goals have become such commonplace and they can't.

Speaker 1 (43:36):
Figure out why.

Speaker 7 (43:38):
I can explain it to you, all right, give what
you got, Okay, go back twenty thirty years ago. Look
at the kickers in de Haa, Anderson, the Barer brothers,
all those guys, they had one thing in common. They
were five six excuse me, yeah, five six to five
eight shorter man. Look at the kickers now, fair Baron, Tucker, Bucker,

(44:00):
these guys are all over six feet. That extra heights
gives you an extra long swing radius, allowing more speed
and forced to hit the ball because you got a
longer swings. That's why you're kicking then.

Speaker 1 (44:15):
Interesting notion. I also think just it's like everything else
we see in the game, right, people are getting bigger, faster, stronger. Gordy,
I just want keep fair Baron to keep knocking it down.
I have confidence that fifty plus yards fair Band is
going to do his deal, Kyami. He says it wasn't
just the kick, he said, it was the whole by Townsend.

(44:36):
It was also the snap by John Weeks. Everything has
to be synchronized for Fairband to do what he does.
Let's do that right now.

Speaker 8 (44:45):
We heard from Kaymi on sight listen as five ft
eleven Kyami. Yeah, I don't know the whole six foot thing.
It's whatever. I want to hear Kymede. Fairband living for
huge moments. Let me hear fair Band number three, Connor.
Let's get a man that walked this thing off. He's
done it quite often here in the Texans uniform and
the Demico Ryan C. J. Strout Era, Kami, congratulations, you

(45:09):
are the franchise leader in points. You also saved our bacon.
How's it feel to know that the team has confidence
and you're doing that.

Speaker 16 (45:16):
I love the opportunities like that, especially when it's coming
down to it and you just you know, you know
it's gonna happen. Well, whatever yardage it is. Yeah, I
really don't I really don't care. I want that shot,
and I think that's part of being good at this
job is wanting that and wanting that opportunity, and yeah,

(45:37):
I look forward to him.

Speaker 1 (45:38):
All right, Kymi fairban can I also say this, Tommy
Townsend has not been great at punting and given this
team field position. But that final punt in the fourth quarter,
Tommy Townsend's forty six yarder that backed them up, that
backed Buffalo up money, he flipped the field for the Texans.
I want to make sure I acknowledge my special teams

(46:00):
that one. Gordon, let's go to the phone lines. We'll
come back to you, because I've been trying to brag
on the dude for an hour and I hadn't said
his name yet. All right, Gordon, do you have someone
that is unsung or a name that we had mentioned,
because there are two. There's two guys. One was more
so a play another guy was absolutely fantastic. You're gonna
like one of these. Let's start with that because it's easier.

(46:21):
Derek Stingley Jr. Yeah, the pass breakup on third down
that because if the pass is completed, it puts Buffalo
in field goal position, and that would have made it
twenty three to twenty. Buffalo stingly deflects the ball out
of bounds. They end up having to punt. It was
a huge play that won't show up necessarily in the

(46:43):
box score. Shout out to Derek Stingley though he didn't
have an interception. She'll show up when the team watches
the tape this afternoon. Big big play by Steam there. Yeah,
I'd like to see him get it. I mean, it's
been a couple of weeks since he's had an interception.
I would like to see him get his hands on
on another pick here. But no, I saw one of
the national guys tweeted out that, you know, since the
middle of last season, Derek Stingley has become statistically one

(47:06):
of the best cover corners in the NFL. And I
always like to see that from the national people because
it's one thing for us.

Speaker 8 (47:10):
To say it you're locally, but when you got national
people saying that about him, it's it's high praise. And
and again, you know, they didn't have Shakir and you know,
I don't know if Keon Coleman has a one yet
or you know, you could say what you want about
the Bills weapons, but you know, I like what Stingley's
doing here, and you know, these next couple of weeks
a chance to really you know, show what he can

(47:32):
do going against New England, Green Bay, Indianapolis, the Jets.
You know he'll defend Garrett Wilson most likely in that
Jets game. Plenty of opportunities here for Stingley to continue
to build on what should be a Pro Bowl caliber season.

Speaker 1 (47:46):
We'll take do we have season cleared up? We got
him ready to go. Connor, all right, let's go back
to the phone line season in Htown. Good morning to you.
You're next up.

Speaker 7 (47:55):
Good morning guys.

Speaker 17 (47:57):
Here's my take. They got a couple sloppyr wins this year.
Bobby Slovic in the second half, he let off the gas.
If you pay attention to that second and last possession
before the Bills had the ball, we had a third
down near field goal range with you know, almost a

(48:17):
couple of minutes on the clock. If they throw us, okay,
you want to go screen. Even if you get a
couple of yards, you have the clock running and you
don't let the Bills have the ball. You can't make
mistakes like that. You got to run the clock and
give points where you are.

Speaker 1 (48:33):
Yeah, I know the series you're talking about. So you're
talking about the series where slowan at the first down Gordy,
he runs the ball and I'm like why, But then
on the second down he, uh, let's see because I
think it's right around the two minute warning. He runs
the ball on first down, throws the screen on second down,
and I went crazy in the press box. Weck, says

(48:53):
my witness. I'm like, no, no, no, run the screen
on first down to make Buffalo call the time out.
Then coming out of that time out, you can run
the ball and then they don't have anymore and they
can't stop the clock. So I thought the sequencing was off.
If that's the series you're talking about, Season, Yeah.

Speaker 17 (49:09):
That's exactly what I'm talking about, because how do you
prevent from running the clock. You're right there in field
goal range. You can't pass the ball on second or
third down, risk incomplete and then give them the ball back.

Speaker 1 (49:23):
Yeah, I thought, go ahead.

Speaker 17 (49:25):
I'm sorry. Had the Bills complete any one of those
passes that McDermot called they, I mean, it's not It's
a whole different ball game.

Speaker 1 (49:35):
You could be right there. Thank you so much. Season
giving us a shout from Masham Gordy, no doubt about it,
like it is inexcusable. Joe Brady offensive coordinator for Buffalo.
They're backed up in the shadows of their own goal line,
no timeouts. Fourth quarter, you got Josh Allen and like
they throw three consecutive passes, stopping the clock and allowing

(50:01):
to Miko and CJ. Who you gott to know what
their record is in close games, especially in this building,
Joe Brady, that's teams taper.

Speaker 16 (50:09):
What not to do.

Speaker 8 (50:10):
I mean, we've seen this season though teams have thrown
the deep ball in the Texans at time and been successful.
We saw it backed up on their own goal. Well,
but what one of those plays was it? Keon Coleman
or mccollins was open. They definitely watch it didn't catch up, So,
I mean, and there was a couple spots mccollands, sorry, bro,
you had a rough game. I mean there were a

(50:30):
few deep shots Josh Allen put in your hand.

Speaker 1 (50:34):
Now, I'm gonna say Josh Allen was off and I'm
looking at I mean, you look at his numbers. Josh
Allen nine of thirty for thirty percent. It's one hundred
and thirty one passing yards a passer rating of fifty
six point four. Josh Allen's completion percentage versus the Texans
is the lowest in a game with twenty eight plus
attempts this millennium.

Speaker 8 (50:56):
Josh Allen was awful. Yeah, Texas only had one sack,
but they were they were hitting them. I mean it
was you know, Will Anderson, Danil Hunter. Those guys were
active back there. And I mean I see something different.
I didn't see Danil Hunter and Will Anderson. I did not,
not as much as recent weeks, but I didn't see
the game from them. I thought the pocket wasn't clean

(51:18):
for him. They only the Texas had the one sack
by Khalil Davis. How many they had seven tackles for
a loss? Khalil Davis had two of them. Let me
see here, let me see here. I want to see
whereas Will Anderson did have a tackle for a lost.
Two hits on the quarterback from him? Where's my twenty
five million dollar man, Danil Hunter? What'd you do?

Speaker 1 (51:38):
One hit on the quarterback and three tackles? No, it's her.
I did not see that game. Now it's coming at
some point, d Neill is gonna have one of those
two sacked, three sacked performances and we'll go, Okay, that's
the guy. We thought we were getting this is all.
I hadn't seen it through fast.

Speaker 8 (51:52):
Also a tough game too, because josh all is such
a good runner, so it's hard to you know, there's
a lot of times he bails out of that pocket
at the first time try. I thought they didn't run
enough with him. I thought there were times where he
should have kept the ball, tucked it and ran it.
And he's kept looking, kept looking Thursday, in complete pass
like I thought. I thought there were many opportunities for

(52:14):
him to tuck and run it even more this week.

Speaker 1 (52:16):
Oh there was another play. Do you guys remember this?
Let me go to my my fleet sheet. Where is
this at? Oh? Let me talk about these two rookies.
Not great games for Kamar Lassiter and Kaylen Bullet. Kaylen Buller,
I thought last had some good mone No no no no, no, no,
no no no, no double move if josh Allen completed

(52:37):
that ball and I don't know if that was the
keon Coleman or not. Matter of fact, it was a
keyon Coleman because had they tried to come back to
it in the fourth quarter, Kamar Last, ye can't do that, bro,
you can't get beat by the move. And Kaylen Buller.
It's a one man round. How are you getting beat
down the field as the free safety on on one
man round on your side of the field. No, I

(52:59):
don't think the safety's got better yesterday. Now, maybe they
learned some stuff. We'll call it a knowledge not But
those two young guys back there, that's on my tape,
on my tape in my notes. We'll see if the
tape can corroborate well.

Speaker 8 (53:12):
James Cook is also he had a nice day run
at the football too, so I mean they had to
respect the run as well.

Speaker 1 (53:17):
That's not last of his job, nor is it, Kaylen Bullet.
Y'all get paid money to make sure that all a
fellow rookie Keon Coleman lasted. You're in the SEC corner.
You were going up against an acc wide receiver. He's
a first rounder. You were a corner the top of
the second round. I expect you to be able to
guard another rookie. And there is Keyon Coleman eating his lunch.

(53:39):
Now it's one play, one route the last I don't
do that. I thought it was more mixed back. I
thought because there were a few places and I'm trying
to run through the film here. There were a few
places I thought he so thought good. No, I thought
it was mixed back. I thought it was some good,
some bad. I wouldn't blanket it as good or bad. Yeah,
I need to see some more. I didn't think it
was a good day for those young guys. I want
to continue talking to d taking your phone calls as well.

(54:01):
Seven one three, two, one two five seven ninety tip
of the cap to a particular defend. I've been trying
to do this one now in twelve minutes, we will
pay it off. On the other side, Sports Talk to
have ninety Fleet and Gordon to the neck to the
dirt road.

Speaker 2 (54:13):
But this is next up. Everything I wanted to say
with stan Nor Fleets and Chris Gordy on Sports Talk
seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (54:26):
People don't know he was.

Speaker 12 (54:26):
He was sick last night, didn't know if he was
even gonna play. So for him right to be as
tired as he was, for him to gut it out
and play every snap like it was an outstanding performance
by him. And I know what he was battling. I
know how hard it was for him to push through
and play through that game. And man, got so much

(54:47):
respect for disease and what he accomplished.

Speaker 1 (54:49):
That Welcome back in the next up. That's the voice
of Demico Ryans. Aziz al Shiah He was the best
defensive play on the field for the Texans yesterday and
it ain't close. Azizl shar was the best defensive player
on both teams yesterday yesterday. And I said it in

(55:09):
real time at my social media stand Sportsman, and I
said it to the guys Wex Dan Connor. You likely
heard me say this as well. You saw the difference
yesterday afternoon at the middle linebacker spot in Denzel Pairman
and Blake Cashman and why they wanted Aziz al Shaia
this year and why they tried to prevent him from

(55:30):
going to the Tennessee Titans last year. I'm gonna say something,
and some of you are gonna get at me on
social because you're going to take what I'm saying here
out of context. Gordon, you might do it too. I'm
not saying he's this guy. What I'm saying is the
type of production that they got out of him yesterday,
especially under the circumstances. Did I know azzl Shier was

(55:52):
in the er on Saturday, said he lost about ten
pounds in fluids. Here's a guy and Demiko was cleared.
I was a question I asked him after the game.
Azaz was an animal yesterday led the team in tackles,
eight tackles for lost, one hits on the quarterback too,
passes defense too should be two in exceptions, staying, who's

(56:15):
the guy you said? He played like That's how Fred
Warner plays for San Fran all the time. This is
the difference. This is why you pay azz al Shire
to bring him here. He's one of your leaders, He's
one of your most consistent players. He's the guy that
obviously can communicate and get guys lined up defensively. He
knows exactly what Demiko wants. And yesterday where you gotta know,

(56:39):
he was grueling. Thank god that game was indoors. Did
you see the shot that they had between possessions. He
was on the sideline with an oxygen mask on, with
a towel over the oxygen mask. It was surprised, I'm
sure trying to get himself, Freddy to get back out there,
trying to get itself together and listen, I say, thank
god that it was indoors. If that roof is open

(57:02):
or if this game is versus an opponent, that's if
this is the Miami Dolphins yesterday and that game is
in South Florida. I don't know that his body would
have been allowed to retain all of the floors that
he's trying to put back in there. And I've seen
guys play through stuff like that disease. You get my respect,
Domiko used that exact word. You have my respect. Aziz

(57:22):
al Shire. You balled your ass off yesterday and you
earned that check, brum, so kudos to you there. Also
want to highlight my guy, Henry Told Told continues to
get better. Gord To. There's a play where he destroys
the tidy and dalton Kin kid, you get the hell
out the way, and then I'm gonna get to the
ball carrier stopping them. I think was a third down

(57:43):
for no game. Texans get the ball on a punt.
Henry Told Told is getting better. Now. Would I like
to see Christian Hars out there? Yes, because the Texans
at some point they're gonna run up against a team
that realizes, wait a minute, they're in nickel and dying personnel.
You're not throwing the ball. We're just gonna load up
and knock their teeth hand. Somebody's gonna figure that out

(58:06):
at some point. Now, I just did all that bragging.
I do have a concern for I come to you,
Chris on the phone line seven one three two two
five seven ninety. You want to get in and signed
off of what you saw from NRG or wherever you're
watching the game yesterday, something that Demiko is not gonna
feel great about. His team gave up one hundred and

(58:27):
fifty yards rushing to the Buffalo Bills five point four
a carry and a touchdown. James Cook got four yards
whenever he wanted, and they stopped giving him the ball.
I don't know what Joe Brady's doing, but the game
being nip and tuck, I'm still giving James Cook the ball.

(58:48):
James Cook twenty carries, eighty two yards average four point one,
he got a touchdown, he had the rushing touchdown, and
then you know, Josh Allen is a problem. Josh Allen
averaged thirteen and a half yards in the four carries
the four attempts that he had. Demico is not gonna
be happy with a team putting up a buck fifty
on you. Yeah, it just can't happen now when you
take the ball away. Oh excuse me. They didn't take

(59:10):
the ball away, I said, say, and they gave the
ball away. The two interceptions they or the fumbling interception
by C. J. Stroud not good. I don't like where
we all from a run defense standpoint. It makes me
uncomfortable going it. Yeah, but look I knew that coming in.
I mean, James Cook's been one of the better running
backs in the league starting last year. He was he

(59:31):
was awesome, and so, yeah, he had some nice runs
on him.

Speaker 8 (59:34):
But I thought they did as the game went along,
they did a good job of limiting the big runs
the other kid, Ty Johnson, when he had like a
fifteen nineteen yard run at one point in the game.

Speaker 1 (59:44):
Yeah, did you know, look Todd Johnson three carries five yards.

Speaker 8 (59:48):
Again, I mean the rushing numbers look a little bit
more skewed because Josh Allen is a runner, and you
know he had the fifty four yards. But I mean
James Cook had twenty carries in eighty two yards. It's
four yards a clip. It's not it's not great, but
it's also not deadly. You give up one fifty on
the ground, that's didn't.

Speaker 1 (01:00:05):
No, it isn't. But you're combining the Josh Allen runs.
I'm talking straight from the running back. Take Josh Allen's
fifty four yard run out. Yeah, and the other guys Curtis,
Samuel Todd Johnson and James Cook have ninety six yards.
It's not even one hundred yards. It's ninety six yards
and a touchdown. That's not great. I can live with that. No,
hell no, I can't.

Speaker 8 (01:00:23):
But it's compounded because you cult you can't even run
for one hundred yards, which is also a problem.

Speaker 1 (01:00:28):
Ninety four yards on the ground for the Texans though,
Cam Akers there is four point seven yards a carry.
Give him the ball. Bobby only gave him the ball
nine times. Crazy to me. Let's go to the phone lines,
going to Chris on the southwest side of the city. Chris,
let's get in here and talks some Texas bro. Hey,
what's good, y'all? All right? What's up with it too?
One quick comment and a question for you.

Speaker 9 (01:00:49):
The comment is I was getting on talents in the
whole game for his punts, But I just is this
something about a guy that's able to come through to clutch.
I think that punt Obviously me kick was big, but
that punt might have been the play of the game.

Speaker 1 (01:01:03):
I just wanted to give him as flowers, no question, Chris.
I brought that up. And I know you people are
in and out of the program as you're doing your
day to day, but I did bring that up Tommy
Towns in the forty six yard punt which flipped the
field and gave that defense an opportunity that allowed them
to catch their breath. You flipped the field and it
ended up being crucial, thus being culminated by the COMMI

(01:01:25):
fairband walk off field. Go there. So I'm with you,
Chris on the southwest side, showing some love to the
special teamers. We got to get Robert Woods from back there.
The hell going on? Robert Woods? Stop it? Omar passed
it in. Let's talk to Texans.

Speaker 16 (01:01:39):
Uh.

Speaker 18 (01:01:39):
Yeah, I've been wondering, you know, since we let go
of some of our defensive tackles and we haven't gotten
the top pick defensive tackle. What's our averaging defense? Are
we allowing yards? Rushing yards?

Speaker 6 (01:01:55):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:01:55):
I just brought that up, gordonre I'm gonna try and
pull that here pretty quick. If somebody gets it before
I do, let me know. I'm not sure where are
the Texans rank right now, Let's try and do this
real time in rush yards against the run, real time,
real time. Where are we at? I do know the
Texans lead the league in passing offense like that, All right,
rush yards, I'm sure it's not great they are. Let's see,

(01:02:20):
yeah about middle of the pack. Yeah, so I've got
the twenty point eight per game. It's middle little here.
You can't be averaging giving up on hundred twenty yards.
It's just it's not gonna work. At the top of
the league. The Ravens are giving up sixty yards per
game on the ground, Minnesota sixty seven.

Speaker 8 (01:02:37):
But who's running Jhona Taylor got his Week one against you.
Chicago didn't run the football and you very well. Aaron
did Aaron Jones and Minnesota got his Minnesota. But but
that was a debacle all around defense.

Speaker 1 (01:02:49):
So everybody, every running back they faced other than Chicago,
they limited DeAndre Swift, every other team. Uh, the Travestville
will Tank Big Experience had the big run.

Speaker 8 (01:03:01):
Yeah, they had one hundred and fifty eight. It's a
team now, Lord Tank. Bigsby had ninety bad games, giving
up one hundred and fifty on the ground. Hell no, no, no, no, no,
I don't like that. Appreciate the call on you give
up twenty points to twenty points. That's that's the one
that matters.

Speaker 1 (01:03:17):
All right. In thinking about this game, Gordon, we have
not talked a lot about CJ. We'll do that next segment.
But defensively, is there anybody we're leaving out? I keep
bringing this up every week just because it's in the
back of my mind. The interior defensive line now on
the heels are just saying they're giving up a ton
of yard. It's in the run game. I see Khalil
Davis showing up. I see Foli Fi of Cossi showing up.

(01:03:41):
And I'm not talking about just yesterday. I mean just
over the course of these five games. I see Mario
Itwa was junior Fulli Fi of Cassi. Who else Tim
Settle in there showing it. The interior of this defensive
line has not cost this team games as of yet.
They haven't proven to be a weakness. But they're not
a strength. I mean, it's it is what it is.

Speaker 8 (01:04:02):
I think that's why you say they're middle of the
packing rushing yards allowed they're fine.

Speaker 1 (01:04:08):
What Henry who will plus interiorized or Sheldon Rankins and
Malie Collins. It's clearly more talented, but I'd say it
has not been the deficient. When you go down the
lists of things that are air quotes wrong with the Texans,
you got to check off, I'd say three four five
things before you get to the interior defensive line. Now,

(01:04:29):
I think about that comment, and if you want to
react to that, that's fine. Seven one three two on
two five seven ninety. On the other side, somebody that
I suggest that you react to its scheduling appointment today
at JB. Thibodeau dot com. Y'all know my man James.
He's on billboards all over the sea, all over the city.
Excuse me. He and his experienced team third generation builder
is they want to assis you in wherever you are

(01:04:50):
in the real estate process. Still JB. Tiberaholmes and Properties
are still running those duplex bills two twenty two special
still running right now. Now you can grow your investment portfolio.
Also if you want to get into this real estate thing,
and well, he'll walk you through that right stand, I
don't know a whole lot. I'll send you over to James.
He will help you understand. Here's the coding in this area.

(01:05:13):
This is where the flood zones are. Here's how we
can rotate and get the architect to rotate the layout
and the blueprints. Blueprints will save you time and money
to maximize on your real estate investment. All right, you
can build on your own lot, or you can get
one from James and his crew. Schedule an appointment today,
won't you. I like those people a lot, really good
people and they do really good work. Jbthibodau dot com

(01:05:36):
For more, that's Jbtibodau dot com. Do it again, Onto,
Done Next to.

Speaker 2 (01:05:46):
As more of Next Up continues now on Sports Talk
seven ninety home of your World Champion Houston Astros.

Speaker 18 (01:05:58):
Mike Wilmay.

Speaker 19 (01:06:00):
First half, you know went really well. We're moving the
ball like we wanted running the ball. In the second
half and we were, honestly weren't not moving the ball.
We were just shooting ourselves in the foot again, you know,
just taking penalties. I missed a couple of reads on
my throws and you know had the turnover, the two turnovers.
So you know, when when you play like that, you

(01:06:22):
give them opportunity to come back, and they made some
adjustments stop started taking away a lot of our passing.
But at the same time, like they, we wann't take
away everything. I gotta be better and just get through
my progressions. But all all, you know, you learn with
a dub and you know that's the most important thing
about it.

Speaker 1 (01:06:37):
It's the same difference. Appreciate c J. Stroud taking the podium,
win or defeat, more wins than not. When CJ. Stroud
is out there another close game, the cool California kid
gets it done, puts his team in position. Kimi Fairband
does the rest of the work. We all went home happy.

(01:06:57):
Next up for another twenty six minutes before we get
you over to Matt Thomas and Rossville, Real for the
Matt Thomas Show, Overreaction, Underreaction, Proper Reaction Monday. I know
many of you are coming in and out of this
conversation as you make your way throughout the city, best
city in America. I say, love me from Houston, Texas
worl over here in the gallery area, doing our best
to provide you with as much insight, information and hopefully

(01:07:19):
entertainment to keep you guys locked in right here your
Home in Houston Sports at seven ninety CJ. I just
saw this break for what was this? This was a
couple minutes ago. I think when was this? Nine twenty seven?
This morning, c J. Stroud Gordy ranked the Texans number
one player overall according to Pro Football Focus. This according

(01:07:42):
to PFF, Houston Texans c J. Stroud came in at
eighty point six, followed in the top three, respectively by
daneil Hunter. They have rated as the highest defender. I
think that's crazy. Disease was clearly the best player on
the field defensively. Steph Diggs comes in at number three,
seventy five point two. Yeah, you want to know my rankings. Yeah.

(01:08:04):
Connie Fairburn one, he's your most valuable player so far
this season. I'm probably the season.

Speaker 8 (01:08:10):
Yeah, this season he's been He's definitely beens have been
less than six points. Yeah, but guy's gotta get I
can't even win a game by a touchdown. Kymie fairbet
MVO MVP so far. Nico Collins number two. CJ's probably three.

Speaker 1 (01:08:27):
Came Is Kyming better at his job right now than
Nico is at his job? I would say no, Nico
is the best receiving in the league right now, So
I'm going Nico one.

Speaker 8 (01:08:38):
Tommy Fairburn's got several game winning field goals, Nico Collins
have a game winning touchdown yet all of.

Speaker 1 (01:08:44):
Them because they need every single one of them when
Nikok's out there. Round I think, so rounding out top five,
there's Henry Toltoe coming in at four and then Derek
Stingley at five. Pro Football Focus wise minimum twenty five snaps. Also,
I give a lot of heat to I thought this
would be a defensive end game. I thought daneil Hunter

(01:09:06):
and Will Anderson Jr. Would be more impactful chasing down
Josh Allen also in the run game, and they had moments,
but collectively I didn't see those guys. Now, you know
Jerry Hughes is on the IR. Then we get news
coming into the game yesterday inactive Dereck Barnett. That means
Dylan Horton had to play a lot of snaps and
some dude wearing jersey number ninety, last name Weaver. He's

(01:09:29):
in there having to get snaps to give a breather
to a ziz As shot. I mean, excuse me to
give breathers to Daniel Hunter and will Anderson Jr.

Speaker 8 (01:09:37):
I thought just kind of rewatching some of the film here.
During during the breaks I'm watching, Daniel Hunter was active.

Speaker 1 (01:09:45):
I mean he was there.

Speaker 8 (01:09:46):
There was a couple of plass So he beats his
guy and he's coming off the defensive right side and
Josh Allen runs to his right away from Daniel Hunter.
So you know, it's it's one of those things where
it's like he on the rep, he beat his guy,
Josh Allen just ran away from him.

Speaker 1 (01:10:03):
At twenty five million a year, you're not just winning
your rep. You have to be making impactful plays. TJ.
Watt gets his one hundred career sack on Sunday Night
Football last night, we consistently see Miles Garrett show up,
Like if you're gonna be paid as a great player,
part of that is you can't just be doing your job.

(01:10:24):
You gotta be doing your job with regularity, impactful, meaningful plays,
and I just have not consistently seen That doesn't mean
I don't want Danil Hunter. He's a better player than Grenard.
I would have done the deal that Casario did to
get him here too. I just like to see more
of him on the place. Going back to CJ Stroud.
It's tough to know. CJ didn't play great. The fumble,

(01:10:46):
I'm not gonna put on him. Blake Fisher gets destroyed,
the defender hits the ball, ball pops out. Okay, Yes,
CJ gets charged with the fumble. It is what it is,
But I'm not gonna put so much of that on him. Now,
the interception, it's tough to know. On that route, was
dig supposed to slow up and settle in that in

(01:11:07):
that void or what CJ lake with the throw. I'm
real big on how people respond real time. CJ puts
both hands on the helmet as to say like, oh
my god, I can't believe it was on me. He
almost like he was taking accountability that it was him.
Don't know, We may never know. All I know is
he threw the ball right to the damn defender. Now,

(01:11:28):
CJ was money in the fourth quarter, Gordy Stroud to
Adultin Schultz for an eighteen yard game. It's third and nine.
Houston was backed up on their own thirteen yard line.
That was a money ball. I mean, he put that
thing exactly where it had to be. CJ had some
good but it was some bad too. Yeah, I'm rewatching
the interception right now. I mean that the defender is

(01:11:50):
underneath Digs the whole time. So I mean it's that's
just CJ doesn't see him. No, we don't know what
the route is. Go back and look at avoid if
if if Diggs is Diggs and this is supposed to
stop in the first window. Or and this is why
you work out in the off season. This is why
when you're in Paris and Morocco and all these other

(01:12:11):
places where they're working out together, you're discussing this. Hey, bro,
on this play on this route. If I miss you
in the first window, I'll catch you in the second window.
Or if I miss you in the second window, turn
your golf up and just run the defenders.

Speaker 8 (01:12:25):
Go through your reads. That I mean, he's it's literally,
it's play. It's a fit, a quick play action, you know,
to to day he said, he sets and literally it's
it's almost like it's predetermined. I'm going to stre I'm
going to Stefan no matter what. Well, Dude, he's covered,
there's a guy right in front of him. Don't go
like make your reads, go through your progressions, don't just

(01:12:45):
go this is where I'm going predetermined.

Speaker 1 (01:12:48):
I don't know that's I know that's your opinion. I
don't know if it was predetermined or not. All I
know is I don't know who is to blame, Stefan
or CJ. I feel like we're gonna learn a lot
more about that connection because we feel like Niko's gonna
be back. The reports are from Aaron Wilson. I'm looking
at Adam Schefter as well. Day to day with the hammy.

(01:13:09):
It doesn't look like they're gonna put them on Ie
on I tuxed. I trust the Texans a lot more
with injury designations than I do some other teams in town.
And I'll just leave it at that. Let's go to
the phone lines, go in there and wrap up this segment.
Shall with friend of the Station, Friend of the show, Biscuit.
What up? Overreaction, underreaction, proper reaction? Monday, Texans win twenty
three twenty versus Buffalo and.

Speaker 4 (01:13:31):
The Man Gordy I was I had the game, yes,
out standing. You could see things that you can't normally
see at home or whatever, how the defense is playing
them or whatever. One of the observations you got talked
about the run Buffalo was standing and you correct me
if I'm wrong.

Speaker 13 (01:13:48):
They weren't an unbalanced line. Darn it, hole Sega. They
kept announcing number seventy as an elzgebra receiver.

Speaker 1 (01:13:53):
Yes, and so they were.

Speaker 13 (01:13:55):
They were out manning the Texans, you know what I mean.
So I've never understood why. Okay, how you Because you
line up three tackles on one side and they run
that side, you know it's going to be a problem.
That's what Buffalo did a lot of and why and.

Speaker 1 (01:14:07):
Why did they do that? Because Sean McDermot and Joe Brady,
the offensive coordinator, are saying, Demico doesn't have the horses
up front to prevent me from running the ball, So
I'm just going to out physical them at the point
of attack, and I'm going to make Demko adjust. Well,
Demico can't adjust. He didn't have the personnel that lined
and he doesn't have a person that a defensive front,
which is why I keep asking why the hell did

(01:14:29):
they stop running the ball. I'm glad they did. They
could have run the ball taking run the clock all
the way down and didn't give CJ and those guys
the opportunity to come back. But that's on them. Texans
winning Nonetheless.

Speaker 13 (01:14:41):
The next thing stand I would say is and I
think me and you we got we got apologizic cereal, man,
about which one.

Speaker 7 (01:14:50):
I was with?

Speaker 13 (01:14:51):
You stay? I was like, man, let's see Nico do
it a second year man. Let's see it was obvious
to me staying. When Nko was in the game, Buffalo
defense played them different than when Nico was out of
the game.

Speaker 1 (01:15:04):
And I love this.

Speaker 13 (01:15:09):
Let me say this, fan, I think Diggs is the
better receiver, but I think Nico is more important to
the Texans.

Speaker 1 (01:15:17):
For what they run.

Speaker 13 (01:15:18):
And so if they can't get somebody else to do
what he do, it's gonna be a problem because they
can't really power unlike Buffalo power rushing us. We can't
do that, and so it's gonna be a problem because
they crowd upon a lot of scrimmage. Now see, they're
going to make some miricles happen.

Speaker 1 (01:15:35):
My man, Bisky appreciated.

Speaker 18 (01:15:36):
Brother.

Speaker 1 (01:15:37):
We're gonna get out of here on this one. One
more segment to go on the other side. On the way,
I will say this, Yes, the offense looked different when
Nico left, but can I tell you this, it wasn't
just Nico leaving the offense looks different when there's no
Nico and there's no Joe Mixon. I think the offense
can still be productive if Joe Mixon returns this week.

(01:15:59):
If and I'm going capital if if Nico has to miss,
I'm gonna stand on what I say. I think Joe
Mixon proved it will prove to be the most valuable
component outside of the quarterback, the heart and soul of
his team. And I think there are enough receiving threats
to mask Nico's absence, and we'll do that later in
the week. If we find out that Nico's gonna miss

(01:16:21):
one more segment Togo Crazy College Football Saturday. Yeah, that
league that Gordy loves. We gotta get that in as well.
We'll take some final phone call seven one three, two,
one two five seven ninety. Chuse some love to U
of based football as well. Sports Talk seven.

Speaker 2 (01:16:33):
Nine, next to next and back up now down door
Plates and Chris Gordy on next up on Sports Talk
seven ninety.

Speaker 6 (01:16:50):
I'm not gonna see her and act like it was
just regular.

Speaker 12 (01:16:52):
You know, it meant a lot to me, and it
was reassured that the guys around me knew that it
meant a lot to me even if I didn't say it.

Speaker 19 (01:16:58):
You know, because I try to just keep it poised,
treat every week.

Speaker 12 (01:17:01):
Like it's the same what I'm saying.

Speaker 19 (01:17:03):
But I'll be lying if I said it.

Speaker 6 (01:17:05):
In Mere Watch.

Speaker 1 (01:17:09):
Final segment of a Monday Overreaction, Underreaction, proper reaction. Steph Diggs,
of course, the game in a lot to him. He
thanked the guys for allowing him to get a win
over his team and how fitting right Khalil Shakir. We
know Gabe Davis is no longer in Buffalo as well,
another wide receiver for them last year. You think the
Buffalo Bills could have used the Stephan Diggs on Sunday

(01:17:30):
Afternoon that in RG Gordon because they they didn't have
enough weapons and Josh Allen played the worst game in
his career. Josh Allen looked like I heard some Buffalo pundits.
I was going to the restroom during run of the
breaks and the action there in the press box, and
I overheard some Buffalo media talking to each other and
they said that, like, here we go with this bleep again.

(01:17:51):
We've seen Josh Allen play like this. But Stephan Diggs,
he gets the best of his old team. It sounded
like the guys rallied around him. Some guys like is
he he's al Shire pushed through and they get to win.

Speaker 14 (01:18:04):
Well.

Speaker 1 (01:18:04):
He also wanted out to It's like they're creating this
they're creating this narrative that it's like they didn't want
me and I had to proof to them, like no,
they did an ass out. But no one, No one
has reported that Diggs wanted out. They reported there was
ten What is it tumultuous? Yeah, like it's not. But
it's not like I don't know in here. They can

(01:18:26):
both be the bad guy. It's not like one there's one.
There's the good guy and the bad guy, like they
could both be. The relationship had run its course. They
were at a point where the organization, shit organization said
Josh Allen, you're the guy, and Digs is like, wait
a minute, look at Josh's numbers before I got here,
and look at Josh when I get here. I understand
he's the quarterback, but let's be clear, I'm a badass myself.

(01:18:49):
So I'm happy for Steph Diggs. He gets some get
back Texans win versus Buffalo and for more important purposes
as we started lining up and looking for the postseason.
Texans currenturrently the second seeded team in the AFC. We'll
see what happens. Big ball game tonight, Monday Night Football.
Saints yet undefeated Chiefs. If you're a Texas fan, rich

(01:19:10):
for the Saints, because if the Saints can win, yep,
you're tied with the Chiefs for best record they sit
and the number one seed. If the playoffs were to
begin to date, the Texans would beat it two soon.
I don't think the Saints are going to win in
Kansas City. I would not Taylor Swift that's gonna be there.
It's going to be first game we've seen Kansas City
without Rushie Rice at wide receives.

Speaker 8 (01:19:30):
Now, the Saints are still flirting with Davonte Adams. I'm
the Saints. That's just if Dennis Hadlea were to ask me, dude,
do whatever you got to do to get him.

Speaker 1 (01:19:38):
Some people are saying, do the Buffalo Bill's now getting
in on the Davante Adams sweepstakes? Yeah? Like real quick.

Speaker 8 (01:19:44):
To make the point we were making earlier, these are
the four wins that the Texans have this year against
the Colts. They were up twelve to seven at the half.
They won by two. Against Chicago, they're up sixteen to
ten at a half, won by six. Versus Jags, they
were up seven team thirteenth a half, one by four,
and this past week they were up seventeen to three

(01:20:04):
and a half one by three.

Speaker 1 (01:20:06):
The Texans in the second half have not pulled it
from NBT. That is concerning Will we'll talk some more
about that in the days and weeks leading up towards
the as we continue through this twenty twenty four season.
Next opponent, let's go up to New England, Foxborough, New
England Patriots get a win yesterday. That's a noon game,

(01:20:28):
that'll be CBS. But right now, let's stay in the moment.
They get business done over Buffalo, and I'm happy for
the team. I'm happy for at Cayami CJ. Stroud did enough.
But you go look at that drive chart what they
did in the second half. To what you just said, Gordon,
they get a field goal, first possession, second half, eight
play drive field goal. Here are the consequenting I think

(01:20:53):
I saying that punt, punt, interception, fumble, punt get the
game winning field goal.

Speaker 8 (01:21:01):
Yeah, you scored three points in the third quartering three
points in the fourth, and if you want to add
three in the second, you didn't score a touchdown after
the first quarter.

Speaker 1 (01:21:08):
I mean, that's alarming. Has to be out to three
to three and three. I don't think it's just Nico.
I think it's the combination of no Nico and no
Joe Mixon. We'll see if both guys back in the line.
So listen here, Tank Dell. At this point a year ago,
he had a sixty eight yard catch in the game.
In the coming weeks.

Speaker 8 (01:21:29):
Last year, he had a twenty nine yard catch, a
twenty nine yard catch, a forty yard catch. This week,
tank Tell's longest catch was nineteen His longest play of
the season so far as a twenty three yard catch.
All I'm saying is last year Tank Dell was a
big play, explosive receiver. They found the way to get
him the ball down the field and create big plays.

Speaker 1 (01:21:50):
This year, they haven't been able to do that yet
for whatever reason. It's something we got to continue to
keep our eyes on. I think Tank will have his moment.
You can't get to a a conference championship game without
some of the Shaquille O'Neal will call them others. It
means those support pieces that everybody got to do their part.
There will be time that Digg is gonna have a

(01:22:11):
huge game. Tank Deal's gonna have to have one of
those games. So I didn't think it was a great
game being called by Bobby Slowick. Nor did I think
Joe Brady, the OC for the Bills, played a great game.
There were just questionable decisions that I don't understand. Special
teams save their bacon. I'll tip my cap that you
Robert Woods needed that punt return. It was the right play.

(01:22:33):
I can question the personnel, but it was the right play.
Go north and south right now get you five yards
or thirteen yards I think was a return. Dar Ray
comes right behind him on the one carrier for five yards,
makes that kick shorter for Kayami. He nails it all right,
Go tod a couple minutes here. Big big weekend. Also
in college football locally, how about Steven F. Austin Thursday

(01:22:56):
night they win over U tip forty one, and then
on Friday night I was up in DFW. I wore
a U of H T shirt on the drive up
to Dallas to go to American Airlines Center. Usher put
on a performance top three concert I've seen in my life.
Usher got busy, he'll be down here. Get those tickets
to Toyota Center to see USh if you haven't fantastic show. Nonetheless,

(01:23:19):
U of H goes over there to Fort Worth Handles
TCU thirty to nineteen. Congratulations coach fitza hell of a win,
good win, best win of his tenure in U of
a far.

Speaker 8 (01:23:30):
They keep in mind they had had they'd come off
back to back games where they didn't score a point
to put up. They had to do something, and they
got the offense going. And this Chris, the Chris guy,
I think Xeon Chris, I think that's who they're gonna
roll with.

Speaker 1 (01:23:43):
Oh but over in the SEC just doing this short
on time. Down goes Bama, the Van d down goes
number four. The balls to Arkansas Connors Missouri Tigers. Did
they get beat up by Texas A and M and
the fighting Mike Elkos Who is that? Michigan loses to
Washington there in Seattle, USC loses to Minnesota.

Speaker 8 (01:24:07):
It was just so this any day is a good
day where Alabama TeX's a loss. It's even better when
they're number one in the country. And it's even better
when they lose to Vanderbilt.

Speaker 13 (01:24:15):
Ah.

Speaker 1 (01:24:16):
Yes, but the new number one team in the land
rains in Austin, Texas. They got burnt orange and white.
We will see it. Number one a week ago, but
they're still joy was number one.

Speaker 18 (01:24:26):
They were one.

Speaker 1 (01:24:28):
Georgia moved up to one. You're saying a week so
two weeks defaults back to one. Yet it back in one.
It makes me feel good, all right, Matt Thomas Rosvir Yeah,
Rosevirrial loves that the Longhorns do their thing. They'll take
you the rest of the way. Uh this conedy Mogovern,
Chris Gordon, Stanfleet and all of you, yes you Houston
who allow us to maintain our status as your home
in Houston sports. Enjoy this win. Texans on the road
four and one. God will it. We'll have some more

(01:24:51):
positive things to say tomorrow. Rockets in action tonight. It's
a preseason as well. God be with you, Peace to
you on the other side.
