Speaker 1 (00:02):
Now what's next?

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Next time? Next time?

Speaker 1 (00:07):
The next step, taking next step.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Next time, stop next next time. This is next time
with stand Northfleet and Chris Gordy. Let's see what's next.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Live from the Sports Talk seven ninety studios nestled in
between Uptown Park and River Okes for the next two hours.
This is next up. New to the station, new to
the show. Welcome, even if you aren't, We appreciate you
hanging out with Gordi and I yet again, stay in
Northfleet me he at Chris Gordon, there's oh, that's trade
filling in for Connedy mcgoffor appreciate Trey hanging out with us.

(00:48):
For the next two hours, we have lots of football
to get to. As Week five has concluded in the NFL,
UH the Kansas City Chiefs over the Saints from New Orleans,
Louisiana last night. We will hear from Demico Ryans as
well as he took the podium yesterday afternoon once this

(01:08):
show was long gone. Speaking of coaches, we have breaking
news for those that are Jets getting up. The Jets
an opponent of the Houston Texans Texans at Jets October thirty.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
First.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
That is a seven fifteen PM game, and the Jets
have decided to move on from a good friend of
Demico Ryans, his predecessor defensive coordinator at the San Francisco
forty nine Ers, formerly most recently head coach of the
New York Jets, Robert Sala, has been canned, so we

(01:44):
do not know. Oh, Jeff Ulbrich, another forty Niners assistant,
will take over the interim duties there at New Jersey
where at Floring Park is where the New York Jets
reside there in Jersey. We will get to just a
couple nuggets. Rockets weren't action last night, and the astro
is up for an award.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
We'll pass through all of that.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Spent a lot of time with the Texans today and
you can get into the show following us at Sports
Talk seven ninety and of course the phone number the
same seven one three two one two five seven ninety, Gord.
Before we get into some Texans nuggets, as this is
second take Tuesday, I have reviewed a little bit of video.
I have reviewed some numbers, we have some standalytics. Let's

(02:27):
start with the Robert solid then we'll double back into
last night bizarre why they following firing Robert Sala.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
Now what are you make of that? I think it's
overreaction to loot to the record. You know, I think
you got to be.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
So and three. It's not like they're oh and five.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
But this is Stan This is a team people were
picking us a super Bowl not just contender, but a
team that could win it all. You've got Aaron Rodgers
you were willing to write off last year because oh man,
he gets hurt in the first game of the year.
Well next year, Rogers is gonna be back. We're gonna
be healthy. Sala's got a good defense. This team's gonna
be a super Bowl contender. And the start two and three,
I think, and especially this past week was a winnable game.

(03:06):
But to score just I mean the last two weeks
you scored nine points at seventeen points both in the losses.
You know, if anything, that the loss to Denver was
morning inexcusable. You lost to bow Knicks ten to nine.
But can I call it time? This week Minnesota is
comes to like.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Of their three losses, two of the three are on
the road at San Francisco, and then Minnesota came in
your building.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
And beat you by six points. Like, what are we doing. Yeah,
it's an overaction. I just saw now when I say
an your building.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Let me take that back, Gordon, I apologize that game
on Sunday morning was on Londay.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
So you come back from them.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
Maybe it's one of those things where they owner it's
a long flight back to the States, maybe sitting there thinking, man,
we're embarrassing.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
We're two and three.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
Since the twenty twenty one season Robert Salifirs took over
the Jets, the Jets defense is first in points per drive,
first in EPA per play, third and success rate despite
playing the fourth most snaps over that stretch. Obviously the
offensive issues, but Robert Salo is a hell of a
defensive mind, and they were I mean, the defense has

(04:06):
been fine. I just it's an overreaction. And to bring
this back here to home. The Texans do play the
Jets up in New York and a couple at the
end of this month on Halloween night, Thursday night, October
thirty first, And so you wonder, I mean, I gotta think,
like just my instant reaction to his sentence, I don't
know if this makes the Jets better. Firing your head
coach like was Robert solid the problem my paying college,

(04:29):
like Nathaniel Hacking the offense of the problem.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
So we'll see.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
And that's why many of you when the schedule came out,
oh my god, the Texans you gotta play a first
place schedule and look at the Jets. I'm just like, look,
it's a week the week league, Cause you get stuff
like this, you get owners it. Woody Johnson, I had
a chance to meet him and interview with him. I
spent a little time with Woody Johnson on a personal

(04:54):
level as I was contemplating employment with the Jets for
the two thousand and nine season. And we know that
US ambassador in the United Kingdom, huge supporter of Donald
Trump and the party and all of those things. So
I actually sit back and go, is this Woody Johnson

(05:14):
being embarrassed sitting with the what do you call them
patriarchs saying these yeah?

Speaker 1 (05:20):
These? Is this a political thing?

Speaker 3 (05:22):
And he just overreacted And from a business standpoint, he's
just as Robert Sola is a good football coach. Now,
many people in the NFC feel some type of way
about Sala now being available because some wonder if the
forty Niners will Rehaller Robert Sala to help them fix
some of their defensive deficiencies. The Texans don't play the

(05:43):
Forda Niners in the regular season obviously, so if we
see San fran and they hire Robert Sla, that will
be in the super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
It's just.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
Everywhere Aaron Rodgers goes, stuff just happens like that. We
never see Aaron Rodgers just a quiet football season. There's
always stuff, whether it be the on field or off
field variety. It's just bizarre and weird. I don't know
what they're doing now anyway. That's the breaking news around

(06:14):
the National Football League as of about twenty five minutes ago.
Robert Slid, head coach of the New York Jets, Predeceller,
predecessor of Demiko Ryans in San Francs defensive coordinator is out.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
All right, Let's.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
Pivot to some other coaches, one in particular in Kansas City,
which is an opponent of the Houston Texans that Week
sixteen matchup at Arrowhead December twenty fifth to Texas gonna
board a playing in Head up there Gordon, Kansas City
last night, first game without Rushie, Rice, Patrick Mahons played,
Travis Kelsey played I saw the second half. What's the

(06:51):
big boy d tackle? Chris Jones. Chris Jones got rolling.
You follow the Saints pretty closely there. I thought, even
without Rushie Rice because the game was in air ahead,
I just thought Xavier Worthy the way they would use him,
and to use the rest of those weapons. We had
a Juju Smith Schuster siding. He had over one hundred yards.
We went back in time.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
Yeah, Kareem Harlem, Travis Kelcey having his first good game
of the season.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
The Chiefs are going to chief and I just trust
them to win no matter what the conditions are, if
they have Patrick Mahomes and the reasonable cast of characters.
Was this good Chiefs or did just Saints not live
up to the moment? They just I mean it was
it was what it was.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
I think they the Saints defense that were not letting
them get deep on any big plays, so they they
tried to play everything underneath him. The Chiefs went, Okay,
we'll take everything underneath and they just had these long,
sustained drives of Kareem Hunt for five yards, Kareem Hunt
for six yards. Pat Mahomes dumps it off to Kelsey
for six I mean, it was just it was death
by uh thousand couns. Yeah, and so you know, it

(07:56):
is what it is. And then Derek Carr, the Saints
offense was so awesome in the first two weeks, and
it feels like the whole league got film on Click
Kubiak's offense and said, oh, we know what you're trying
to do here. And then the Saints offensive line has
been banged up too, so they just had issues. They
couldn't protect. And when you can't protect, you don't have
time to make plays down the field. And thus Alvin
Kamara went less than two and a half yards of

(08:18):
carry last night. Make them one dimensional. You can just
pin your ears back and rush car and that's kind
of what happened. I did think though, at one point
they get that big boy interception and big man rumbling back.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
Yeah, you know they points off the ball if a kansaity.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
Yeah, I mean, well, like out of the second half,
kan Sady misses the field goal, Saints punt, then they
get the interception and then the Saints go down and
get six the touchdown to Rashid what's his face U
Rahie Shaheed whatever, and then it's sixteen thirteen. You're like
all right, they're back within a field goal an instant.
Just Chiefs go right down the field, touchdown, back to

(08:53):
a ten point game. That's all she wrote. It was
like that was their window. You get to stop there.
They had a chance. But it was funny too. I
was watching the Vegas odds on this one coming into
the game. Everybody like Vegas was saying the Saints had
a chance on this one, like they were thinking it
was gonna be a three point game.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
Kaylin Sanders, whose brother, if you watch the broadcast, is
big Man, wears number fifty in New Orleans. His brother,
also a big Man, is apparently a background dancer for
Taylor Swift, who was in the building. You know, did
you see the Bill Belichick on the Peyton Manning counting
the Manning cast. Belichick's hanging out and they paying to Taylor,

(09:34):
and Belichick's kind of like, can we just can we
get back to football? He had that look in his
face like he wanted no part of it. He made
some other comments that I won't share here because I
don't know how those are gonna be in.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
Well, the end was really good to Archie came on
for the for the ending and he was just taking
shots at both the Manning brothers.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
So I'm torn.

Speaker 4 (09:51):
Do I like Buck and Ak when I think they're
fantastic together? I watched them I love I love the
Manning cast too, but I hate that you have to choose.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Yeah, I'm not a many cast guy. I appreciate they
do their thing. I treat the Mannings like I treat
a guy that's doing very well in the business. Talking
about Pat McAfee like, I respect what they do. Those
guys just aren't talking to me. I'd like to go
with a come around on McAfee. I didn't like him.
I've covering around them. Not my guy. Curious though, how
this game would have resulted. No, the Texas don't play

(10:21):
the Saints. I am curious had Derek Carr not gotten hurt,
what that would have done for their chances. Derek Carr
threw for a buck sixty five passer rating modest eighty nine,
two touchdowns, one interception, sack.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
Just I treat this all week. There's two weeks of
this NFL season. He looked incredible. He gave them the
best chance to win. The moment Jake Hayner winning the game,
they were done well. No hater actually made some nice throws.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
But yeah, he's gone. But she had a twenty five QBR.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
Well, but did you see some of the throws he made.
He put a lobby right in the hands. He hit
sh he right in the hands and they ain't catch it.
But no, that game was over before Derek Carr got hurt.
Derek Carr couldn't lead them down the field for anything.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
All right, let's take a break here speaking of coaches
and dudes that ball out second take Tuesday. We heard
from Demico Ryans yesterday afternoon. He gave us some interesting
nuggets as we get ready to preview.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
Texans at Patriots.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
And there's a particular offensive player that his injury designation
Gordon is what catches the attention and minds of Texans fans.
And we're not talking about Joe Mixon on the other
side getting warmed up on the Tuesday, Fleeting Gordon.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
Next up, Sports Talk seven ninety. Hold look, get out the.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
Second segment here on a Tuesday, live from the Sports
Talk seven ninety studios, Fleeting Gordon. And if you missed
the breaking news about forty minutes ago, now give a take.
Jets on a Woody Johnson has informed Robert Saler he
will no longer serve as head coach at the New
York Jets. We remind you that the Texans return to
MetLife Stadium to face the Jets this season, coming up

(12:01):
in week nine, that is Halloween Night, October thirty, first
up at their place in evening games seven to fifteen
local time. Jeff Obrick, a defensive assistant, will take over
as the interim coach. That's a them problem. We have
a guy here, Gordon, that we're all very proud of,
and Demiko Ryans and his spirits were obviously extremely high

(12:22):
after a walk off win, and Demiko Ryans a lot
of close ballgames in his tenure. Both he and CJ. Stroud,
What did I see Houston eleven and three in games
decided by seven points or fewer in the Demiico Ryans CJ.
Stroud era, I personally going it. I do believe there

(12:44):
is something too knowing. Regardless of the circumstances, everybody on
the sideline stays engaged and it does become habit. You
expect for somebody to make a play when a game
is Nick Nick and Tuck hanging in the balance, and
Demico Ryans and CJ Stroud have found a way to
do this more often not Now, we'll get as we

(13:06):
get into the week how they play at home versus
how they play on the road. I believe CJ's like
nine and two in regular season home games, something like
four and five in regular season road games.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
We'll get more to that.

Speaker 4 (13:20):
How about we just put somebody away. How about we
beat somebody by seven points some more? How about we
do that the last top play up or play down
to the competition. Well, they beat the Bejesus out of
Cleveland in that playoff game in the wildcard round.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
That's untik. It's twenty twenty four.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
Yeah, I mean, it'd be nice to see Dub is
a dub and I take that. I won't minimize that.
It is hard to win in the league. And we'll
take another look at the tape. But just right there
when we start there, just thinking about because we're here
from Demico in just a second, because he said something
about personnel that's gonna make people. It's got the Texans
social spaces and around the watering holes talking a little

(13:57):
bit about what this team can do going in the
week six. Do you take anything learning how to win
close ball games. The Texans have a habit of doing.

Speaker 4 (14:06):
So, Yeah, I just the expectation for this season was
this team was was going to be better than the
last year's team. And I've just you know, again, I'm
not trying to downplay four and one is four and one.
It's the second best start in Texans history.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
It's awesome.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
But again, like it's like you played down to the
colt you played down to the Bears, you played down
to Jacksonville, but you got your bank by Minnesota. Play
up to Minnesota, you play it down, and then Buffalo
you you played well. The first half was awesome and
then the second half was kind of so.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
I don't know what it is.

Speaker 4 (14:43):
I mean, it's just it's again, you survived, advance. You
just want to put a W in the column, and
that's awesome. But I just again like expectations for this
team coming this year, and keep this in minds. Then
it's it's it's only week six. There's gonna be more
injuries along the way. You know, you're you're surviving without tons.
We'll see if it's you know, just one week without
Nico Collins. We'll see Titus Howard will start because of

(15:05):
his hands. What if I told you, you know, Mixing
comes back but then misses six weeks after this. What
if I told you Dalton Schultz is gonna miss four weeks?
What Like, I'm just saying, like, as we go along,
I don't think they're just gonna suddenly get one hundred
percent healthy any more injuries that come along the way,
And I just you know, you keep playing with fire
in these close games, it's gonna come back to bite you.

(15:27):
I just want to see that that the team we
got so excited about in training camp and were like,
oh my god, you see what Stefan Diggs is doing.
Oh my god, this team they got offensive line is
fully healthy. Now like, where's that team? Like, well, we
see it's been good, knock great, we see it. We
just don't see the team you're talking about for four
quarters of football. And if I'm being honest, I'll do
this in another segment. We don't see that team in

(15:50):
the second.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
Half of ball games.

Speaker 3 (15:53):
The lack of adjustments by that offensive staff in particular
is something that I have to add ask what's going on.
It is noticeable that the points are not going on
the board in quarters three and four the way they
are one and two. Now to acknowledge what you said,
Gordyre about Yes, it's week six. Everybody's banged up across

(16:14):
the league. Football hurts, newsflash. How do you sustain the
game of attrition? Everybody's dealing with it. So just like
the Texas are gonna have some folks that aren't in
the lineup the Bills, they're gonna probably say, well, we
didn't have Taylor Rapp and we didn't have what's big
boy from the University of Houston, big Boy the d
tackle at Oliver. They didn't have it all Okay, got it,

(16:38):
Shakiro got it? Or the Texans didn't have Christian Harris
and they didn't have Titus Howard. And you know what
I mean, Like Nico leaves the game in the first quarter.
So you got injuries all over the place. That's part
of it's gonna happen. Can you play through it?

Speaker 5 (16:50):
Now?

Speaker 3 (16:50):
You mentioned and I have to acknowledge this if I'm
being fair. No, the product on the field, the process,
how the sausage is made for the Texans in twenty
four doesn't look as appetizing as we thought it might.
Need I remind you, however, this team was two and

(17:10):
three last season. Through five games. They are currently four
and one, the only foreign to one or four win
team in the AFC other than Kansas City who's now
five and zero. So this team, with a more difficult schedule,
is pacing better than they did a year ago.

Speaker 4 (17:29):
I'd argue their start to last year was more difficult
than this year so far. Like Baltimore, I mean, you
opened at Baltimore, that's as tough as it gets. You
played the Colts, who you know were okay, you played
the Colts to start this year too. You went to Jacksonville,
who at the time last year, at this time, Jacksonville
supposedly they were the bell of the ball. They were

(17:51):
supposed to be the AFC South cream of the crop.
And then he came home to play face Pittsburgh where
everybody was talking about TJ. Watt and that defense and
all that, and it took Keep in mind you those
two wins the week's three and four. Last year, you
blew out Jacksonville in their house, you beat them by
three touchdowns. You blew out Pittsburgh here at home, you
beat them thirty to six. It wasn't even close. JJ

(18:12):
Watt Ring of honor like That's where I say, like
the winds, like, yeah they were, they started two and
three last year, but the wins, you were like, that's
that gave you hope because you're like, look at how
dominant this team could be. Whereas this year it's like, yeah,
two point went over the Colts. Yeah little you know,
it's like all these little close wins for me, I.

Speaker 3 (18:32):
Just look at this. Everybody said the schedule was more
difficult and the record is better. Well, but you haven't
gotten to them. But the hell I house part of
your sk The hell I haven't. The Minnesota Vikings are
undefeated in the NFC, that you're them in Buffalo, you're
too tough.

Speaker 1 (18:45):
Buffalo.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
Buffalo is a good football team. They just took an
al on Sunday, the Indianapolis Colts. We all know how
those division games go. It was Week one, mostly everybody
was healthy and you were on the road. So that
is an Indianapolis team that could have very well. I've
been in the playoffs last year instead of the Texans.
Texas acre of their business Week eighteen in that same building.

(19:06):
So I started looking at this year's schedule going, I
think this year's schedule and what they've accomplished. Being for
one is more impressive than they did a year ago. Now,
somebody could push back and go, what's staying? Demico was
just getting warmed up, and CJ was a rookie and
there was a lot of new Bobby Floyd hadn't called
plays before fair but they have expectations this year, and

(19:28):
the schedule was more difficult.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
I just wins, though.

Speaker 4 (19:31):
I'm impressed, the dominant, impressive win of Jacksonville and the
dominant home win over Pittsburgh. What's their most impressive win
so far? I mean this week against Buffalo, Okay, wasn't pretty.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
You got the win.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
But here's what you and I aren't seeing the same thing.
And I understand your point. You're looking at margin of victory.
I'm looking at They have double the amount of victories
this year than they did a year and I'm telling
you you've played weaker a week. I just don't understand that.
Y'all told me was the first play schedule. Oh it's coming.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
Stand.

Speaker 4 (20:03):
You gotta go to Green Bay. You gotta go to
New York to play the Jets who just fired their coach.
You gotta play Detroit, you gotta go to Dallas. You
gotta play Miami, you gotta go to Kansas City, you
gotta play Baltimore. That's the I mean, that's the tough
part of the Skelltle's coming. We all looked at the
schedule before out of the gates and said, it's a
pretty easy schedule. No, no, no, Nowell, I said they
would win. I had the Texans going six and oh

(20:24):
heading into at Green Bay where they would take their
first lost.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
Was a reason you picked them to go six of though,
because you thought, well, I just thought they was a game.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
I thought they were better than Buffalo, especially with our
digs and Gabe Davis. So that was the Buffalo game.
Minnesota surprised me. I didn't think they'd lose at Minnesota.
Nobody expected Minnesota to be five and zero thus far. Yeah,
preseason we said, oh jj McCarthy. Off of the season,
that game gets a lot easier. We said it would
with Sam Donald and he has played Donald. Nobody saw

(20:52):
him doing the chosen one all right. On the way out,
we'll get Aaron Wilson's gonna drop by. He was over
in the building. Let me hear from Jamico on the
way out if I could, though t Meko now that
you've had a chance to do second take Tuesday, review
this tape. I guess for the third maybe fourth time,
Dimiko won. What's your thought going into Week six?

Speaker 6 (21:11):
Mego for us, it's just about executor. At the end
of the day, we execute and we do what we're
supposed to do, we can be a really good football team.
So we still have even though it's a big win
for us, still have a lot of things to clean up.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
A lot of individuals.

Speaker 6 (21:26):
Just ask the guys, just check yourself and see where
you can get better. How can you improve upon this
next week? And keep that mindset moving forward?

Speaker 1 (21:35):
All right?

Speaker 3 (21:35):
Demiko ryans the thought process coming out of the win
and walk off versus the Buffalo Bills heading in to
Patriot Week. I want to add this thought on the
way to break and I'm going to double down to
what Demiko had to say, a lot to improve on.
A lot of people were concerned, how would Stefan Diggs
respond being on this team with the ball having to

(21:57):
go and so many other mouths to feed? How would
he operate? How would was his personality be, what would
his energy be like? And then you add here comes
the Buffalo Bills in week five as an opponent, not
only did Steph Diggs has he policed himself. Not only
has does he continue to work his butt off, and

(22:18):
not only does he continue to ball out Steph Diggs
also at the breakdown when they in the locker room
and you're breaking down the team and everybody's getting ready
to go their separate ways, Steph Diggs said, thank you
for helping me get this win over Buffalo y'all. Notice
meant a lot to me also, and keep in mind

(22:39):
it's time to go back to work. I like that
messaging from Steph Diggs, the veteran that he is as
good as he is at the position, like stay locked in.
They won and we'll do more of this second take Tuesday.
They won the game. It's a good win. You should
feel really really good about that. But there are some
things to clean up, and I've looked at some tape.
We're also going to ask and Wilson what he heard

(23:01):
over NRG as we come back on the other side
of Aaron Wilson our Texas Insider Sports Talk seven.

Speaker 7 (23:05):
Ninety Welcome, ladies and gentlemen to the eighth point of
the world, the Fluent Century.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
All right, we're having hour into a Tuesday show here
on Sports Talk seven ninety fleet Gordy in the side.
I appreciate trade. He's in for Connor d McGovern. We
go to the guest line. Now as the week five
has come and gone in the National Football League, and
the Saints go on the road and lose at Arrowhead.
The Chiefs remain the number one seed in the AFC,

(23:34):
an undefeated five and zero. Second place in the AFC, Gordy,
that would be the Houston Texans, A man that was
over at NRG on Sunday and on Monday afternoon to
hear from Jamico Rans our Texans inside the NFL Aficionadoh,
Aaron Wilson, good morning to you, sir.

Speaker 8 (23:52):
Good morning.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
How are you doing pretty well? Thoughts?

Speaker 3 (23:55):
Because because I know you're heavily connected around the league. Now,
Robert sala canned this morning. Surprising to you? What can
you tell us about solag and Murky?

Speaker 8 (24:07):
Yeah, surprising in the sense that, yes, there was a
lot on the line, a lot of stress attached to
this season, but also that he had, you know, had
some success here and there and is a strong leader
and has the respect of the players. But it's a
tough situation because get a long flight back from London.

(24:30):
It kind of makes the owners start thinking and wondering
about some things. And of course, as you all know,
Aaron Rodgers has a lot of clouts, a lot of juice.
So that's something I keep hearing all over the league
today is Aaron Rodgers could check out his fingerprints. What
does Aaron Rodgers have.

Speaker 3 (24:47):
To do with this? Just saying it's just just odd
that a guy as good as Aaron Rodgers Gordy everywhere
he goes every time, like every season, there's just stuff
that happens around a rod Nonetheless, people are saying that
are the wrong guy.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
It should have been Hacket.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
Texans at Jets October thirty, first go ahead coming out
of week five.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
You have some fair Yeah, Aaron, health wise, where are we?

Speaker 4 (25:10):
I saw your piece up at Sports seven NI dot
Com calling Nicocollins week to week and Joe Mixon day today. Uh,
just reading between the lines there to me feels like
good news on Mixing. Sounds like he could be back
this week, but probably not on Nico.

Speaker 8 (25:26):
I mean, Nixon going to try to give it a
go again. But it's the issue, isn't a pain or
like a risk factor. It's his ability to cut. So
we still don't really know if he's I would say, ready, ready,
it's close, getting closer. It's a high ankle sprain, heard
from multiple people, and this is right in the range

(25:49):
the beginning of the range for when sometimes guys get
back out there, you know, like that four to six
week range. So it was not a severe hiinkle sprain,
I'm told, but it was a decent high ankle sprain
and they take time and then Nico Collins injury is
not severe, which is the good news. The bad news

(26:09):
is you fight not having him for the Patriots game,
and that some of that is a precautionary measure because
you need him for the long haul. You don't want
to aggravate the injury. And also from pr standpoint, if
you start saying stuff like well, you know they can't
say that, I can say that, but that's my opinion
that you want him for Green Bay and that he's

(26:30):
hamstring could get right this week and it's not a
season long kind of situation where he's constantly deal with
the tight hamstring. But no, it's not a major hamstring.
It's not like he's you know, it's gonna be out
a very long time. That's the good news on Niko.
They've also had some roster moves or did him a
couple of minutes before at our home in the corner

(26:54):
back sign off, Bators practice scout for sources. He can
co Toronto the tight end former draft pick here sign
off the Bears practice squats to the fifty three man
roster during British Brooks to IR, he has a knee injury.
It's not an NCL, but it's it's still pretty decent
knee injury and how I have to get a second opinion.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
On what to do about it.

Speaker 8 (27:13):
But yeah, it's expected to be an ir situation for
British Brooks hasn't happened yet and then might not have
Jimmy Ward this week, and that's probably been a surprise
with what he kept going in and out of the game.
Jimmy told it's like at least one week could be
even longer aggravated the same groin injury. Had taken some
painkillers to play in the game and then reinjurs the groin.

(27:37):
Now you know, got to heal up.

Speaker 3 (27:41):
Talking with Air Wilson, Texans inside of here at seven
ninety over at NRG on Sunday afternoon as well as yesterday,
as Demko addressed the media, you go into the locker room,
you got a lot of sources around the team and
the league and thinking about and Gordon and I started
with this.

Speaker 1 (27:59):
You know, I'm a big identity. What is your DNA? Right? Like,
what what do you what are you known for? What
do you specialize in?

Speaker 3 (28:08):
The Texans appear to specialize in winning close ball games,
especially they're at NRG. But like they have it put together,
I think we all can agree a performance that is
emblematic of what the roster says they are. How are
the guys, the coaches? How do the person knel uh
and and those involved around the team, how are they
feeling five games into the twenty twenty four ceiling season?

Speaker 1 (28:31):
Excuse me?

Speaker 8 (28:33):
You know it's a mixed bag about this team. Right,
you're four and one, but you haven't played good football.
It's you know, if you're a glass half full. Guys
that shouldn't be you know, he said, well these are
fixable things. You know, you could stop committing the penalties. Yes,
they're bad habits, but they're how ingrained are they? Can
you get any better at that? Can you You know,
you saw Army Kunsel he did have any penalties. He

(28:55):
told me he's very proud to Navi Pellay. That was
his goal and he met that goal. He wanted to
concentrate on that and guess what he did it. That
just shows that someone can improve and a certain thing.
That's a mental concentration thing, not just a football skill.
If you have no talent on your roster, I can't
help you with that. You know, what are you gonna do?

(29:16):
But you can work on these things. You can be
more disciplined, you can coach these things into guys, and
a lot of it it's mental, it's sports psychology, it's
all those things.

Speaker 5 (29:25):
Stay on sides.

Speaker 8 (29:27):
But yeah, there's still a sloppy team sometimes and inconsistent.
But they're talented enough, I'd say more than talent enough
to beat most of the teams they place.

Speaker 4 (29:38):
Yeah, I think that's what's weird, Aaron, is we just
we thought this team would be better than last year,
and I think in a lot of ways they are,
and obviously record wise they are. But we were just
running through the start of last season and obviously they
started two and three, but you know, had a three
touchdown win in Jacksonville. They had a twenty four point
win at home against Pittsburgh, and they had these dominant
schillings where you saw glimpses of, Oh, this is what

(30:00):
this team could be once it all comes together. And
this year it's just kind of like, I don't know
if it's playing up to and down to the competition,
but man, it's it's like, you gotta if you're a
Texans fan this year, you got to keep your heart
doctor on call because you're you're coming down to crunch
time in the fourth.

Speaker 1 (30:17):
Quarter with all these games.

Speaker 8 (30:19):
Yeah, I mean, the good news is they're good at
winning the post games under Dmiko Ryans, which shows some
resiliency and mental softness. But they sure need to concentrate better.
I don't know what it stakes for these guys, but
they've got to feel a little bit better at that
because at some point it will hurt them down the road.
And you know, not just being like a shouting Thomas

(30:40):
or whatever that they've called someone that you know cast
them down. I would say, just it's just logic, right,
this is eventually you run into a team where you
can't make those mistakes. It could be the Kansas City Chiefs.

Speaker 5 (30:53):
Ravens.

Speaker 1 (30:53):
Yeah, let's do this.

Speaker 3 (30:55):
Aaron quickly from you, just because I think it's a
major storyline coming out of the game on Sunday. As
we wrap up here with Aaron Wilson, Steph Diggs if Capitol,
if Nico does not go on Sunday at New England,
do you believe this team the roster, like, are we
ready to see number one wide receiver Steph Diggs or

(31:17):
at this point in his career in this offense, is
he more of a wide receiver too? You understand my question? Well,
they do you think they will maximize on the opportunity.
Will the offense flourish with Nico being out? Certainly not
to the level if the Nico was in. Can Steph
Diggs feel the shoes?

Speaker 5 (31:35):
Well, you know he can move the change. You don't
have to. It does not have to be a bomb.

Speaker 8 (31:40):
I don't think that's him anymore. But can he matriculates
you down the field with first down after first down?
Can you use don the shoulcal little more? Can you
have you know, hopefully some running games some balance, but
you could you know, have several fifteen to twenty our passes.
I know Tank Delle could get deep. Maybe he's the
hope that Tank gets involved again as a deep threat,

(32:03):
and we know he's fast enough. This was his first
game back from Bruce Grims, but there have been remember
last year some tank games. Maybe this is another tank
th game.

Speaker 3 (32:12):
Fair point by you. Appreciate you joining us here on
next up. Aaron Wilson our insider for all things Texans
as well as the National Football League. You can follow
him on social If you aren't already, shame on you
at Aaron Wilson underscore NFL fellas are off today, back
on the practice field on Wednesday. We will continue monitoring
your social Aaron as you do a fantastic job.

Speaker 1 (32:34):
Brother, Thank you for your time this morning.

Speaker 8 (32:35):
Thank you, appreciate you all right, my man, Air.

Speaker 3 (32:37):
Wilson getting some rests on the Texans off day. Second
best record in the AFC, tracking along just fine. Nico
Collins has gone from a day to day designation now
the coach. You're saying week the week, how does this look?
If Nico isn't in the lineup. I will give you

(32:59):
some assurance on the other side as well. Let's take
your phone call seven one, three two five seven ninety.

Speaker 2 (33:06):
Next up continues. Now I'm a new listener at already
a new listener.

Speaker 9 (33:11):
I love the show with stan Or Platt and Chris
Gorty on Sports Sucks seven.

Speaker 4 (33:19):
H Oh.

Speaker 6 (33:27):
Yeah, Nico, he's he's in a good sperience. Of course
with the hamstring. It takes a couple of weeks from hamstring,
so we'll evaluate that on a week to week basis
to see where we can get him back.

Speaker 3 (33:39):
Head coach Tonico Ryan's getting an update on Nico Collins
and that hamstring that was an issue after the bomb
touchdown what was at sixty seven yards uh the first quarter.
Nico did not play after the first quarter, and his
designation has gone from day to day with that hamstring

(34:00):
to week to week. When I heard the Miko say
that Gordon at the presser once we wrapped up yesterday,
I was like, Okay, yeah, I'm not And we just
heard Aaron Wilson say a sense of the same thing.
This isn't looking like I'm not expecting to see Nico
Collins in Foxboro at Ulette Stadium on Sunday. Some people
are nervous about that. Oh my god, what are we

(34:23):
gonna do without Nico? Okay, I think the question is,
what do you do without Nico and Joe Mixon if
he can't go. Now, it sounds like Joe legitimately is
day to day, but I think this is gonna be
incumbing of Jamiko and the training staff of course, like.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
What do we do here?

Speaker 4 (34:43):
I think these answers. It looks like it did those
last three corps. Last week we scored three points, three points,
three points.

Speaker 3 (34:49):
Well, obviously they would score more points if those two
people play, because the last time we saw those two
people play together along with the rest of the offense
in Indianapolis, they scored twenty nine points.

Speaker 4 (35:00):
They're just not as good if they can't run the
football consistently with Cam Akers and darry and you can't.
You know, Digs and Tank Dell are fine, but they're
just they're they're limited to what they can do that
none of them stretched to feel like Nico does. You're
just gonna be limited now. I think Tank Dell can.
I think we saw it at times last year. You know,
we were talking yesterday show about how they may be

(35:21):
of underutilized him.

Speaker 1 (35:22):
This could be a big week. It's funny.

Speaker 4 (35:24):
I was just figured out my fantasy lineups last night,
and I dropped Tank Dell this week because Darnel Mooney
was out there. But I thought long and hard about it,
because I'm like, if Nico's out this week, tank Dell's
gonna eat. Tank Dell's gonna and this could be a
big week for it could be for me.

Speaker 3 (35:38):
That responsibility shift to Steph Diggs and then maybe you
know it's a one in one a type of thing.

Speaker 1 (35:45):
Opportunities should be abundant for is Digs that guy anymore?

Speaker 3 (35:49):
Though, Yes, I just did just steal a number one
receiver in this league. He just happens to be playing
with Nicos. This is his biggest play this year. Twenty
eight yards. Yeah, like against Jack, I have full confidence
that without Nico Collins, this team can go on the
road and win a game. Now, what I was going
to say is, you gotta remember now this New England.

(36:09):
This is an AFC game. So I know we get
all giddy about at Green Bay the following week, but
the New England game means more to the Texans than
the green Bay win or the Green Bay game. Gotta
jumped up this and we will see. Actually I had
him losing in my predictor. Nonetheless, do you do what
you need to do to go get this AFC win?
I would say, yeah, I'll deal with Green Bay later.

(36:29):
Right now, I need to go win a game. Does
Demko believe with Jakoby Brissett. It sounds like that's what
they want to do. They want to keep Brissett in there. Dude.
Does the Miko believe a bad Patriots team that even
without Nico and Joe Mixon they can go on to
Foxburn and get a dub. Here's just a bit of
evidence that I want to add that I would probably

(36:50):
err on the side of caution in keeping Joe Mixon
and Nico out if it's close. Quite frankly, I've seen CJ.
Stroud and Demico Ryan's go on the road and win
to AFC playoff game. Excuse me to AFC regular season
games without Nico Collins. It happened last year. Week Week ten,

(37:13):
Texans beat Cincinnati on the road by three. Week fifteen,
Texans beat the Tennessee Titans on the road by three,
both games without Nico, So they can still win. My
expectation is they should win this game. I think the
line came out for this upcoming game, and I want
to say Gordy. The Texans were favored by seven, give

(37:33):
or take. That's about what it should be. Are you
concerned Texans min So Texas minus seven? You concern that
this team without Nico. I'm gonna push back on the
Stefan Diggs is still number one. I think he's a
good he's a good receiver still, but we've seen a
little bit of decline. Do you know how many games
Stefan Dix has played in stand since he had one
hundred yard game?

Speaker 1 (37:54):
How many games? Give me a number?

Speaker 3 (37:56):
Oh, well, obviously this year. Joe Brady came in about
the halfway point last year. So I'm gonna say he's
played in.

Speaker 4 (38:06):
Fourteen games, eighteen games since Stefon Diggs was one hundred
yard receiver.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
That was October fifteenth of last season. So let me
in Buffalo. Can I ask a question and you may
have it up there. Of those eighteen games, how many
did the team that he played on? How many did
they win? So that mean they got a lot of wins?

Speaker 8 (38:24):
Sure?

Speaker 3 (38:25):
So for me, and it's just me, Steph Diggs plays
winning football. So I still think he's receiving one or
a receiver one. Sometimes teams have to and that's fine.
I think you know a good stat line for It's fine.
Seven catches for eighty yards, like, that's fine.

Speaker 1 (38:42):
He's doing what he needs.

Speaker 4 (38:43):
But I'm just saying, compounded with if you got no
mixing and you got no Nico Collins this week, this
might be a week where I need digs to top
one hundred yards.

Speaker 1 (38:51):
This is a week where I need digs to find
the end zone line.

Speaker 3 (38:53):
I think Diggs, Dalton, Schultz, Tankdale, you know, Mutcherson seems
to be that kind of next guy up matches option
the last wide receiving that group. They have one of
the deepest wide receiver rooms in the league, So to me,
that's no excuse. Now this Darrel Gumble versus Cam Akers

(39:14):
Cam the better running back. I need Bobby Sloyan to
figure that part out. But I think they'll be fine
without Nico this week at New England. Would I rather
have Nico?

Speaker 1 (39:25):
Of course? Would I rather have Joe Mixon?

Speaker 2 (39:28):
Of course?

Speaker 3 (39:29):
Do I understand the premium playing an AFC opponent and
the time breakers that can be impacted by playing said opponent, Yes,
the Texans should be good enough to go to New
England without Mixing and Nico and get busy.

Speaker 1 (39:45):
Jacob on the north side wants to talk to Nico
Collins and Texans.

Speaker 7 (39:47):
What's up, Jacob hey Man, Diggs is a number one receiver.
Nico benefited for having did no question it, Digs. Is
that guy now now that now that he Nico out
not Nick a game plan, now he can get more targets.
He is, he gets stressed the field. He's been one

(40:09):
of the top receivers in the league five years.

Speaker 4 (40:13):
Jacob, he hang on, you think you think Diggs has
not been getting targets because of Nico, Like in other words,
they're going, ah, I see you're open, Digs, but we're
going to Nico because he's open. Like Diggs has been
getting his opportunities. I'm just saying, like that's that that
that's astonishing to me that he's played eighteen NFL games
without going over hundred yards.

Speaker 3 (40:32):
Well, if you think about what Joe Brady did with
the offense in Buffalo last year, I think that's okay.
What about the five games Stefan Diggs has played in
this year? Because CJ is going with what is the offense?
Where does it take me? Steph Diggs being on the
field on a given play has made life easier for Nico.

Speaker 1 (40:49):
Soj's I'm gonna go to Nico.

Speaker 4 (40:51):
Right, all I see is a bunch of two point
three point wins. Maybe if you get Digs out in
space more, get him some big plays, maybe this team
can win by a touchdown or more. Maybe this team
can We need somebody by double digits like they did
last year.

Speaker 7 (41:03):
We'll see this week. We'll see this week in practice.
Nico is out and we'll see what we'll talk about
this next week.

Speaker 3 (41:10):
All right, that is if a man Jacob on the
north side of the city, no doubt about it, Nico

Speaker 2 (42:49):
This is next time with Stan Norfleet and Chris Gordy,
let's see.

Speaker 3 (42:55):
What Let's kick off the second half right live from
the Sports Talk seven ninety studios Nelson in between Uptown
Park and river Oaks Galleria area West Loops South to
be precise, fifty eight minutes from now, we'll get different voices.
Matt Thomas, Ross Vierry I think I'm actually hanging out
with Ross for that first album. Nonetheless, Gordon's in studio.

(43:17):
Fleet is in studio, also joining us in studio. You
the people have been asking where was that man, that
guy that used to tote the cheese in Columbus, Ohio?
Got that buckeye had on in here right now. He
also got busy over there. It was Reliant Stadium back then. Nonetheless,
Jonathan Wells, my goy, Jay Wells, back in the building today,
sitting in with Gordon and I as we do a

(43:37):
second take Tuesday, going back looking at the film. A
lot of meat left on that bone from that walk
off victory. Thank you, Commie Fairband twenty three twenty sending
the Buffalo bills back to Orchard Park with a l
all right, we got lots of unpack here, Jay Wells.
Before we go back to the phone lines. Couple people
want to get in, but welcome any thought from you, overall,

(43:58):
quick thought as it pertains to what you saw on Sunday.
I thought it was just a clear tale of two
different halves. You know what I'm saying. The first half
there was clean, no penalties. CJ was flawless, and you
saw that the score reflected that, and then when you
get into the third quarter, you have six penalties for
fifty five yards, and then now you're in thirty and fifteen,
thirty twenty, the same stuff that we were talking about

(44:18):
last week.

Speaker 1 (44:19):
So that just what really was a difference.

Speaker 3 (44:21):
I think the office was great when they weren't having
the penalties and CJ I mean pretty much besides one interception,
he was pretty flawless yesterday.

Speaker 1 (44:29):
Texans. I think we all would agree.

Speaker 3 (44:31):
Is it that?

Speaker 1 (44:32):
Maybe not? Clearly?

Speaker 3 (44:33):
Camp City is the best team in the AFC right now?
Do you think the Texans are the second best team
through five weeks in the AFC? That you've seen some
people Baltimore, You've heard all the teams, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Baltimore.

Speaker 1 (44:45):
I really don't know.

Speaker 3 (44:46):
I don't watch enough of the other teams, so you know,
to have a good answer for that, I think the
Texans are continued to get better as a team.

Speaker 1 (44:52):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (44:52):
Once again, we're still without Joe Mixon, We're still without
our top two running back. So I think we continue
to get wins. I'm happy, I'm excited by where they're going.
All right, there is let's go to the Falls. Week
five wrapped up last night Chiefs get victory over the Saints.
kJ up in Cyprus. Man, let's get in here and
put the bed put to bed. Week five?

Speaker 1 (45:12):
My boy, what up though, love the show man?

Speaker 3 (45:14):
What up?

Speaker 10 (45:14):
Well?

Speaker 1 (45:15):
Look us dig these blues we all been singing. At
some point, I like to believe.

Speaker 11 (45:20):
I mean, I hope I don't get out of trouble
with the missis got a significant other two you know
what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (45:25):
But at some point we were single. Yeah, we took out.
We took out that that fuggly.

Speaker 11 (45:30):
Duckling a time or two because she had a nice
swing setting her backyard.

Speaker 1 (45:34):
You know what I'm saying. I get you in the
neck cup. From the neck cup. She might have needed
a check cup, but she was sitting on something down south.
If you know what I mean, I do understand. Four whill. Yeah,
that's what the Texans. Wins are right now. They got
they got from wins. You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (45:50):
They got for winds.

Speaker 10 (45:52):
You know what, you didn't know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (45:56):
So the Texans getting some action. It just ain't they
most desirable option. You know what I mean. I can't
I can't go for that. I can't go for that.

Speaker 3 (46:06):
Hold on, hold on, hold on, OKJ So what you're
saying is back in the day when we was leaving
that max Is on a Friday, you might not have
your friend. You might not have that first or second choice.
You might be on their third choice. Yeah, that clock
strike by two am. Gotta get about of here. That's funny,
But I ain't going for that. We caught him, the

(46:27):
one that we caught him, the one fitter nine that
brought the graph whatever you carry. Oh my god.

Speaker 1 (46:34):
I got a couple of questions for y'all, man, and
I got a comment. I'm gonna sit back on a
chair here, which I gotta say.

Speaker 11 (46:39):
First couple of questions, man, what's the injury status on
Reverend Jordan? What's the injury status the official not not
when they're coming back Reverend Jordan Christian Harris? And I
also want to know what the contract status is for
the offensive line.

Speaker 1 (46:55):
And this is my statement. I'm looking right now. The
Texas are a grand on four and one.

Speaker 11 (47:01):
The Texans have scored it.

Speaker 1 (47:02):
I saw the state yesterday.

Speaker 11 (47:03):
If I'm not mistaken, twenty five points total.

Speaker 3 (47:06):
In the second half, twenty three points in the last
four games in the second half. That's less than six points. Again,
I don't do it. That's not gonna do it. It's
doing it right now. It's doing it right now. You what,
y'all y'all wasn't talking that. Y'all wasn't expecting the Texas
to beat the Bills. You was not expecting them to
beat the Bills. I did, went in there, stood on
business I had.

Speaker 1 (47:27):
Most people here.

Speaker 3 (47:27):
Were saying we got too many cooicses kJ. I appreciate you, brother,
I do all right, Go ahead, y'all heard what kJ
was going. He said, it's working though.

Speaker 4 (47:34):
It's you wanna keep tempting safe go beat somebody, but
more than six points?

Speaker 1 (47:38):
Come on, what are we doing it? It's the NFL, man, Man,
it's a week to week league, man. You one inn.

Speaker 3 (47:44):
Oh every week you keep pointing with fire, you're gonna
lose some of these games. That's everybody? Oh so what everybody?

Speaker 1 (47:51):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (47:51):
Last year this time, through five games, the Texans were
two and three with a tougher record or a tougher schedule.
Excuse me and go in and I feel dire about
the opponents that you play this year I think through
five games are as good, may be better than a
year ago.

Speaker 1 (48:07):
They four and one.

Speaker 3 (48:08):
They got curb stumped at Minnesota, who's still undefeated. Minnesota
also beat San franc Minnisot's a good football team. We'll
see what they are at the end. But I'm not
gonna go crazy about that. I feel like the Texans,
and I understand Kj's point. They're getting get done. It
ain't pretty, it ain't the most desirable, it's inconsistent. There's
enough blame to go around, there's enough pats on the

(48:30):
back to go around. I would just love to see
them come together and play a full, complete game, and
let's see what that looks like. And they won't have
a chance to do it this week because it sound
like they won't have We'll see day to day on
Joe Mixon, week to week on Nico. I think they
can go in Foxborn beat New England without Nico and
answer his.

Speaker 4 (48:50):
Question to Brevin Jordan towards a cl he's stunned for
the Seas season ending ir so he is not coming.

Speaker 1 (48:57):
Back this year.

Speaker 4 (48:57):
And then O line you got on Sole, Titus, Shack
Mason all locked up this year, next year, the year
after you got Kenyan Green this year, next year, and
then of course he was the first round pick, so
you could pick up his fifth year option in twenty six,
and you Scruggs is Ro and Jared Patterson and Blake Fisher.
So really you've got all these dudes for this year,

(49:18):
next year, and the year after if you want them all.
The Texans are going to move on from one of
the two. They can move on from Titus after this
season with very minimal impact and did cap money. They
can move on from tunsl.

Speaker 3 (49:30):
I don't anticipate they will, but they could move on
from Tunsle after the twenty five season. We'll see Blake Fish,
a second round pick they brought up in here, and Homie,
you know he got some knowledge knots on Sunday. You
know he got in handed to him a couple of times.
Jay Wills in this league, young guys, everybody gets everybody
gets handed to him. And because you know I'm right,

(49:53):
let's go to.

Speaker 1 (49:54):
The ball lies.

Speaker 3 (49:54):
Get in your biscuit, man, real Texas talk and listen
to seven ninety fleet going to Jonathan Wills, former two
X is running back in here with his hanging out.

Speaker 1 (50:03):
Biscuit.

Speaker 10 (50:03):
You with us.

Speaker 5 (50:05):
Yes, sir, yes, sir, I know you and you know
I'm hey man, pe Tree, Hunter and sim those are
my guys, and you know coach and grew up with him.

Speaker 1 (50:16):
Whatever.

Speaker 5 (50:16):
Okay, Man, you watched the tape. There was a lot
of room on the punts on Sunday, Man, And I
know the coach had to do what he had to
do to Sims because of his performance the week before
with the penalty and the muff punt. But I'm telling you,
if Sims was out there, he messed around with a
ring run back. Yet it was plenty of room run.

Speaker 1 (50:38):
I agree with you, Biscuit, and I'm gonna tell you
it wasn't just the punts. Biscuit.

Speaker 3 (50:41):
Go that kickoff return, which I think was the longest
in Robert Wood's career. If that's if that's Damien Pierce,
who had a kick return for a touchdown a year ago,
If that's tanked there, if that's a number of other
people that got a little more giddy.

Speaker 1 (50:55):
Up, that's six. Yeah, it was there.

Speaker 3 (50:57):
They're gonna score a special team's touchdown in the turn game,
it just won't be with Robert Woods. I have a
problem with Robert Woods being back there. I did get
mistraded though, for catching the punt and just going north
real quick.

Speaker 1 (51:08):
So go ahead.

Speaker 5 (51:10):
Last point is some of the reason why the offense
was sputtering, and you said the penalty, but some of
them was because Woods caught about two or three balls
inside the ten yard line and so they steal position
was an issue, no question. And I'm just telling you, man,
if you had a more experienced pun returner back there
and he let a couple of those going ins on
and he took the alleys that were there, man, they

(51:31):
could have flipped the field two or three times a.

Speaker 3 (51:34):
Great appreciated biscuit seven one three, two one two five
seven ninety. We'll get the west side, Joe. That's my
guy Johnny on the north side of Houston as well.
Closing thoughts from you two gentlemen in terms of going
back looking at the tape, Jay Wells the first time
we're hearing from you, any other observations that stood out.
What's top of mind from you, Gordon, if you got
anything left in the notebook real quick, and then we'll

(51:54):
keep this conversation going on the other side, nah Man.
Like I said, Man, I think it's when they played
clean foot ball. I don't think there's the deepest in
the league that can stop them. But when they stop
themselves with penalties, get behind the sticks, I think that's
when we get into trouble. And then CJ gets a
little pressure and then you know, he makes a bad
throw here and here or there here there. It's not
like he had a terrible game. Yes the day I

(52:15):
thought he was flawless. To be quite honest with you,
some of the throws he made under pressure. I thought
it was like, why the pick of the fumble though?
I forgot, I forgot he had to pick.

Speaker 1 (52:25):
Fourth quarter? That's come on, come on, stop.

Speaker 3 (52:31):
Josh Allen was nine for thirty one hundred and thirty
one yards. While we talk, what now, CJ was awesome yesterday?

Speaker 1 (52:39):
He don't.

Speaker 3 (52:39):
We always talk about every week what I say every
time I come, I say, what don't turn the football over?

Speaker 1 (52:44):
Facts?

Speaker 3 (52:44):
Turn the football over yesterday? And that was that was
a problem. But other than that, man the kid, the
kid was flawless. All right, we gotta do this because
on the side, Jay willis, every time you sit down,
I feel inclined. This man, Bobby slowk still under some heat.
The people are speaking j Welles. People are not happy

(53:06):
with what Bobby was diagramming up. Now it's funny how
that worked. Nico leads the game and now we got
this issue. Come on, no, I'm gonna ask you to
hold it. On the other side, why is dlray getting
damn near double the amount of carries and cam makers.
I need you to help me clarify what the tape
is telling me about the running back position in absence

(53:26):
of Joe Mixon.

Speaker 1 (53:27):
We will do more of that.

Speaker 3 (53:28):
On the other side, Fleet going to Jonathan Wells, former
Texans running back in the building with us hanging out
and speaking of the building. When you need to get
a building, whether it be commercially or residentially, you need
some construction, let me go and allow me to tell

opportunities to put some more cash in your pocket. Right,

Speaker 9 (54:29):
Stanton or Fleet and Chris Gordy. This is next up
on Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 3 (54:48):
Look Out the Pucky Bucky the book staff, look Out
a Pocket. Welcome back in the next stop on a Tuesday.
Second take Tuesday. As we go back and take a
peek at the video. What the film told us from
the Texans narrow gord that says, too.

Speaker 1 (55:03):
Many narrow victories around here. Texans.

Speaker 4 (55:07):
Take care of the record is the most important thing.
I start with that it's four to one. That's that's awesome.
You want to what as many game because there was
a bottom line. You want that home field advantage. At
the end of the year, we saw what it was.
You played the Browns here versus the crap out of them.
Going up to Baltimore is great. So you want as
many home playoff games here as possible. So that's the
most important Houston, Texas. But we can be nippicky. We

(55:30):
can be nippicky and say it hasn't looked clean yet.
And it's okay to say that Aaron Wilson joined us
at ten thirty. We brought that up.

Speaker 1 (55:37):
We have not seen.

Speaker 3 (55:38):
I would say the best that we've seen of the
Texans was Week one at the Indianapolis coach when now
I know Joe Mixon went crazy and you had just
thought and running that you gave all the money too. Yeah,
like that's really what? So I saw those six quarters
and then he gets the hip drop tackle VERSU Chicago,
and we ain't really seen the Texans since then. We'll

(56:00):
find out who's that? Oh that CJ on Pat McAfee
behind you, Ain't that Pat McAfee? That what CJ got
some glasses on? I ain't seen Stroud, that boy state
styling Grandma glosses. Know what he's doing right there?

Speaker 1 (56:11):
All right?

Speaker 3 (56:12):
Jonathan Wells is the third voice that you heard here
in the studio eleven time Russia in Texans history.

Speaker 4 (56:17):
Oh the boy come, I eleven, Damian Pierce jumped ahead
of him. That's okay, you were That's all right for
a wow for twenty years. That's why I didn't even
know that. All right, So let's do this the running back.
I went back and looked at the tape, Jay wells,
this man, Bobby Sloyd, this.

Speaker 3 (56:38):
Man giving the ball to Darray of goombwile on every
snap this first five plays, the ball going to Darray.
What is happening here? You put Cam Makers at running back.
Cam Makers is rushing for fifteen yard touchdowns. Help me
understand what the hell Bobby Sloyd is doing. I believe
that you were in favor of number thirty three playing
last year. No, I'm just saying we have to take

(56:59):
the tape, bro, because I was the only one saying listen,
Cam Akers did fine. He averaged four point one yards
of carry last week. This week he comes back and
averages almost five yards of carriage. Yeah, four point one.

Speaker 1 (57:11):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (57:12):
You asked me last week who I think is your start?
I clearly said Cami. But then I said it doesn't
matter who starts, because both of them are going to play,
and they both want to have to make plays at
certain times.

Speaker 1 (57:22):
In the game, and they did. Unfortunately.

Speaker 3 (57:25):
I don't want to miss his name, but number thirty
three man, he averaged two years. He averaged two yards
of carry yesterday. Meanwhile my man averaged five. So cam
Akers right now is the best option that we had. No,
you won't get any argument out of me for that.
I'm trying to get you a man that has played
the position on Sundays in the huddle you played for
these coordinators, what possible reason could they have for running

(57:46):
Darryl Gumbwale out there? Who's an NFL player? You need
a roster with guys like darl Ray. I'm not saying
he shouldn't be in the league. I'm saying when you're
out there first series, we're trying to establish the identity
of today's matchup. I need to be able to hand
this ball off and let my hogs up front go
do something. And they giving the ball to Don Ray.
What is the thought process here? He's a good back, bro,

(58:08):
he's a cool back, and you only have two options,
so go with the better option. But okay, I agree
you don't have Gordy. Do you have a problem with
them giving the ball to instead of He's in the
n F family. Last week you were praising the man
because of what he did in the You know, I
said the ball. I was like, i'm a, I'm a

(58:31):
I'm gonna take check you on. I show you right now.
Every week you was on that man. I have never
listened to me, clearly, I have never. That's not even
fair what I was nearous saying what you and I
last week. There's no way I said Darry was a
better running back than can make.

Speaker 1 (58:48):
We didn't say.

Speaker 4 (58:49):
We never, We never got to that. I think they're
all bad options. I mean, this team needs needs your.

Speaker 1 (58:56):
GORDI.

Speaker 3 (58:56):
Y'all got to stop with this. Do you know what
a good running back is? Let me ask you something.
Do you really know what a good run? Do you
know what look pretty good? The first we know what
a good day as a running back is a good game?
A good game? A good day from you?

Speaker 1 (59:08):
When you only touch the ball twelve to thirteen times?
What are you expecting?

Speaker 3 (59:12):
Oh yeah, what if I'm as a running back, If
I'm averaging five yards every time I touched the great
I killed it today.

Speaker 1 (59:21):
But y'all are sitting there acting like they trash. Not
when Doris what he just it's just not. It's not.
It's no. I'm a running back. I take that person.
You should.

Speaker 4 (59:33):
They had twenty eight twenty as a team, twenty eight
rushers for ninety four yards.

Speaker 3 (59:37):
That's just not going to get a dog as a team.
We're talking about individual CJ Stroud out of that. So
that's twenty five carries. CJ had twenty seven of the
ninety four carries twenty seven or ninety four yards. Excuse me, Yeah,
I'm not here to say the running game is great.
I'm here to say we were talking about cam Akers
versus number thirty three. I'm just saying I need no
shit cam Be starting at running back, the same thing

(59:59):
I said last week. Yes, right now.

Speaker 4 (01:00:03):
Had nine carries for forty two yards last week and
four and a half yards in rush. But one of
those was that fifteen yard touchdown run. You make that away.
You can't car three yards.

Speaker 10 (01:00:13):
You can't say that.

Speaker 1 (01:00:14):
That's how they had drives stalled.

Speaker 4 (01:00:16):
They couldn't sustain drives because he was getting three yards
on first down or second and they couldn't sustain the drive.

Speaker 3 (01:00:20):
Doesn't matter, It's all about the average at the end
of the game. It doesn't matter you can. You can
keep me to forty yards the whole game. If I
pop a sixty yarder in the fourth quarter, you're gonna
tell me. Oh, but let's take the sixty yarder away.
I'm just you can't take the six guys away.

Speaker 1 (01:00:35):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 4 (01:00:36):
And this league, you've got to run the ball effectively.
You got to get into the short yardage downs to
keep drives alive. And the Texans have not been able
to do that because because of penalties. Let's talk about
the problem. No, that's the whole problem.

Speaker 1 (01:00:51):
Clean in the first half, second half one what the
average bookle yards running the ball in theirs?

Speaker 3 (01:00:58):
Okay, no problem. When you get involved, it throws the
whole office off west side, Joe, get in there, man,
you hear what we're talking about. What's on your mind?

Speaker 10 (01:01:06):
Brom and this day, Good morning to you guys. Man
staying I am. I'm gonna get you tomorrow. What's something else?
And I'm glad you're in the studio so I can get.

Speaker 1 (01:01:16):
At Gordy this morning. Gordon.

Speaker 10 (01:01:17):
As I hung up yesterday, I heard I heard the
back land. But I'm gonna tell you this, Gardy, what
I see in the Texas and what I see in
any team, and what I've seeing you, Guardy, is that
you It's different from baseball, where it's a progression thing
with baseball with you, Gordy, but with football is right now,
right now, right now. This is not college football. You

(01:01:39):
don't go around the world and crab all the good
players that make a great team. In the NFL, everybody's good, Gordon,
so the the Dorge, but Terry and all that goals.

Speaker 5 (01:01:50):
Oh you forgot.

Speaker 12 (01:01:51):
The other guys are getting paid on the defensive stile
to make stops. It's not about any of that except
what Jonathan Well said. You can really have four years
of cad or you can have two point two.

Speaker 10 (01:02:03):
It doesn't matter. It's effective doing it throughout the game.
Man and Gordy, you make that, You make it as
if sometimes that everything is right now.

Speaker 2 (01:02:14):
Because we win and got.

Speaker 4 (01:02:17):
We only got seventeen of these. Yeah, it's different from baseball. Baseball,
you can get swept in a series and still win
the World Series. It's it's it's one hundred and sixty
two of those. In football you only got seventeen of these,
And yeah, the win is the most important thing. The
four and one absolutely all I'm saying is I just
have higher I have a higher standard for this team.
I thought they were going to look better than they

(01:02:38):
did last year.

Speaker 10 (01:02:39):
And I just a win, though, Gordy, even though the
team is just what's better than a win?

Speaker 1 (01:02:46):
We have wins, Gordy.

Speaker 10 (01:02:47):
When the team starts with chemistry throughout the season, just
what it'll get. Brother, You will start to see the
explosive place.

Speaker 2 (01:02:56):
Waiting Joe.

Speaker 1 (01:02:57):
Let me know, I'm showing up every Sunday to watch it.
I'm waiting waiting to see him win by seven.

Speaker 4 (01:03:04):
West side, Joe, to see them beat somebody by a
touchdown or more. I thought they were a better team
than us. Well that's the problem. See you're talking is
if this organization is the new England Patriots. You gotta
remember two years ago we were the bottom of the
bound but expectations last year one playoff win, okay, but
you get one playoff win and then you come back

(01:03:25):
the next year and you're.

Speaker 3 (01:03:26):
Four and one.

Speaker 1 (01:03:27):
What are we talking about? We had it?

Speaker 4 (01:03:29):
But what I'm saying up hell, we added a top
ten running back and a top ten receiver.

Speaker 3 (01:03:35):
You've been hurt for three weeks out of the four
and we and we're still four and one on your
three and one, four four and one, we're still formed counting.

Speaker 1 (01:03:47):
So it's not like it.

Speaker 3 (01:03:48):
No, it's a real big and you may have we're
gonna go to break here. We'll take phone calls Jhonathan
Wilson Studio seven one three two one two five seven ninety.
We'll also hear more from de Miko on the other
side on two Way to Break. Jay Welles, I'm a
big culture guy, team identity guy, like I need to
know what I'm gonna get every time I see the

(01:04:08):
text and suit up and right now, sometime that's due
to injury. To your point, Joe Mixon has been out
since week two. But philosophically, and I think this hurt
Bobby Slowak on Sunday, it's like the play calling is disjointed,
Demiko says, all the time, with you and I both
know the pass rushing coverage go together. They seem to

(01:04:31):
be a little bit further along with that on that
side of the ball than the offense appears to be
in this run game and the play action and like
the right they running screens and step Davey's catching the
ball and the spacing with the Lineman is it's off
right now, and I know Bobby's still working. It is
a long season. We only five games in the seventeen,

(01:04:52):
but to Gard's point, I thought it would be further
along because everybody came back. You just added Stif Diggs,
guys and Joe mixing it saying the same only pro
it's the penalties, guys, and I will admit that penalties,
penalties the first two weeks, like we said, the first
half yesterday they had zero penalties and the office was flawless.

Speaker 1 (01:05:17):
Think about it. The man was twelve or fifteen in
the first half. Yeah, I have uh here we go.
CJ started off like eleven fort eleven yesterday, twelve or fifteen?
What we talking about?

Speaker 3 (01:05:29):
Only way out CJ twelve or fifteen, one hundred and
eighty seven yards was not sacked through the sixty seven
yard touchdown to Nico. CJ's passer rating in the first half.
No penalties by the Texans one forty point eight. Okay,
so what are we talking about? We're talking about with
it the penalties and we're playing great football and that's
what out Nico in the in the second and most

(01:05:49):
of the second quarter. We'll talk more Texas and here
from Demico Ryans will Nico play. I'm not nervous about that.
I think there's enough weaponry over there in our the
bag this thing. Box it up. Rather take it on
the plane, go to Foxburg and take care of business. Second,
take Tuesday, John the Wells, former Texas running back in
studio with Fleeting Gordon, Sports Talk seven.

Speaker 2 (01:06:09):
Ninety stand or Chris Gordy. This is next time on
Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 3 (01:06:31):
Man. If y'all can go with it, you'll pay wall
up so we can get compensated. Somebody hit my cash out.
The content when we off the mic is as enticing
as it is when we own the mic. Stay in fleet, God.

Speaker 4 (01:06:42):
It you want to pay They got playing those down
the street. Listen, man, you gotta go do that. Sit
at the corner of West Tideline sixteen is.

Speaker 1 (01:06:51):
I will let you give sports takes with Please donate
that cash out. Y'all know what it is.

Speaker 3 (01:06:56):
Be creative, y'all hit your boy trying to get something
done on the microphone on today. We got what twenty
five minutes, so we got to be judicious with our time.
But we got a lot of ground to cover. Former
Texas run back Jonathan Wells in the building. Gordon is
right here with me as well. Trey appreciate him. Pitch
hitting for connedy mcgovernment. Thanks for all your efforts and
thanks for all the phone calls. Hit us up seven
one three two point two five seven ninety. You can

(01:07:18):
also follow the show at Sports Talk seven ninety. All right,
before I do that, because we brought this up off
the air, the repping H Town the H Town Blue
uniforms debut. It seems like nationally they were well received.
We talked about it at nauseum when it was a

(01:07:38):
thing in the preseason and all that leading into the
training camp in preseason. How did they look in an
actual game when it's four toy eight dudes out there?

Speaker 1 (01:07:48):
How did the jerseys laying for you, gentlemen? How y'all
feel about it? I'm fought with them.

Speaker 4 (01:07:52):
They're fine. It was mixed on social media though I
saw a lot of people was it. Didn't didn't like them,
but yeah, it's de light like the biggest Christmas looks
like x x FL.

Speaker 3 (01:08:04):
It was an alternate uniform, especially when you can't use
your true Columbia bluet come around on the gothic.

Speaker 1 (01:08:11):
H I love like thing about it was hard. My man, doug.

Speaker 3 (01:08:21):
You hear the Grand Slam with them, My boy smoking hot.
I don't care what nobody They was freaking it with the.

Speaker 1 (01:08:28):
Blue sleeves and.

Speaker 3 (01:08:32):
My my mom was just dripping, just wanting to be
out there, just being able to get one play out
there to run wearing that. Them boys was dripping. And
then when you get them them jewels doing what they're
doing off that black age town, sparkling off that dark
blue is crazy.

Speaker 4 (01:08:46):
Nah.

Speaker 1 (01:08:46):
They went crazy with them.

Speaker 3 (01:08:48):
And I saw them at the Revealed and I was like, yeah,
they're nice, they're cool, but seeing then the lights crazy crazy.
Congratulations are Greg Grissom you mentioned Dougie p A whole
bunch of folks over there at n RG doing great work.

Speaker 12 (01:09:01):
Now.

Speaker 4 (01:09:01):
I'd just like to see somebody them blow out. Somebody
work were back on this blow because we've revisited the
games last year's stay and I'm like, I forgot they
beat Jacksonville by twenty on the I forgot Pittsburgh by
twenty four.

Speaker 1 (01:09:15):
I missed though, but pokering on the edge of the
couch on the fourth.

Speaker 4 (01:09:21):
Quarters and I gotta sweat it out and my hurt
rights up because I gotta, by god, they were in
control of this game and suddenly it's a close game.

Speaker 3 (01:09:30):
Hold on because I think we could be capping just
a little bit, So lets can't. Let's let's let's be clear.
When CJ got the ball when it was a three
minute offense, I thought they was going to score the
drive before they gave it back. So when CJ gets
the ball back, we know it's gonna be good field
position twenty second.

Speaker 1 (01:09:48):
Yeah, because Buffalo, did anybody I think.

Speaker 3 (01:09:51):
That they should have run the foot and went to
Overtime'm asking about your confidence and number seven? We also
know the number seven I was gonna lead him to
the field goal if he didn't score a point. I
knew not having the timeouts that was gonna be a
little difficult to do because you know you have to
reserve one to be able to kick. I was never
concerned about c J. Stroud leading this team to victory.

(01:10:12):
Why because that's what he does, especially at home.

Speaker 4 (01:10:14):
To give credit to the man kicking the field goal,
he's the one making the fifty nine yards, but.

Speaker 3 (01:10:19):
He couldn't have made a seventy yard a CJ had
to help put him in position. I'm just saying, overall
my faith in CJ. Stroud when this game is nipping took.
It ain't on the mahomes En level, but it's approaching
that level. When mahomes got the ball late, I know
something specially gonna happen when seven got that ball late,
especially in n RG.

Speaker 1 (01:10:38):
I know something gonna happen with you on that all. Right, now,
on the road, we got to discuss.

Speaker 3 (01:10:42):
Somebody got to tell me why this man is four
and five in road games in the regular season.

Speaker 4 (01:10:49):
With seven seconds over, You're made a five yard pass.
Stop talking about halving the team in drama.

Speaker 1 (01:10:57):
You're missing. I'm not saying he made the crucial throw
the team in any position.

Speaker 3 (01:11:03):
Let's be Let's remember now the Bill scored seventeen unanswered points, correct,
So if CJ and them don't respond, this thing looks
a lot different.

Speaker 4 (01:11:12):
That many seventy Because you what punt, punt, interception, fumble punt.

Speaker 1 (01:11:18):
Maybe you've done a little bit more work earlier in
the third and fourth quarter.

Speaker 3 (01:11:21):
You wouldn't have to go on the game to piss
me off. Why that's what they did, Yeah, that's what
they did. We all know if there's up there, maybe
how many other quarterbacks in this league in that game
that was played on Sunday can go head ahead with
Josh Allen outplayed Josh Allen and lead that team to victory.

Speaker 1 (01:11:40):
It ain't but a handful. And y'all know this is
a bad man. I agree. Who's who's arguing that, y'all?

Speaker 3 (01:11:47):
He all he did was hand off the dar ray
y'all know, testadar stop that got the getting But Jesus not,
you know what? That's my next question. Cj'stroud out there
getting knocked around which way from Sunday to protection, not
getting banged up like the man is taking shore. You
just said he didn't get touched, He didn't get sacked
in the whole in the first half. Okay, so how

(01:12:07):
many I bet you They didn't have more than two
or three sacks yesterday as a team guaranteed. So no,
he's not getting banged up like you're making it one
for zero net loss. And that was the kneel down problem.
Then the man came into the game yesterday hadn't been
sacked fourteen times.

Speaker 1 (01:12:28):
He's getting hit? Did you not know?

Speaker 3 (01:12:30):
He just see him shaking the cod webs out of
his head assisted, he's gonna get perfect pocket When he
didn't see the linebacker through the reception right into the hands,
that's one bad perfect pocket.

Speaker 1 (01:12:44):
I'm saying they did nothing. The offense did a whole
lot of nothing.

Speaker 3 (01:12:48):
Second football, y'all telling me that we're comfortable with the
amount of hits that is taken. Y'all telling me that
this is okay because and you can always get better.
But let's I'm comfortable. I don't see him out. They're
just getting killed. Like you you remember, stand you're talking
to somebody who was back there with a guy who
got who got sacked?

Speaker 1 (01:13:08):
You any times bro got hit? Crazy?

Speaker 3 (01:13:10):
Yeah, I was back there for that. So what you're
seeing right now is nowhere near. No, that's crazy, that's all.

Speaker 1 (01:13:18):
I'm not talking as is gonna be like he's fine,
your tough kid, he'll be all right.

Speaker 3 (01:13:22):
Come on, Mary, you asked me to put lipstick on
the pig. CJ's getting hit, and I have a major
problem with this. What quarterback in the NFL is not
getting here?

Speaker 8 (01:13:30):
C J?

Speaker 1 (01:13:30):
Stroud right now? What quarterback in the NFL is not
getting hit?

Speaker 3 (01:13:33):
Every week? Sam Donald? Sam Donald, I don't watch enough
of him. Maybe, so, Man, I'm down here looking at
these guys, Derek Carr. Derek calling been sacked five times,
Josh Allen only been sacked six times. Jared Goff been
sacked seven times. C J. Stroud has been hit twice,

(01:13:54):
sacked twice as much as Jared Golf And we don't
have a problem with that. And that's that ain't including
actual hits on the quarterback. I went back and looked
at the tape.

Speaker 10 (01:14:04):
CJ.

Speaker 1 (01:14:05):
Strode was getting up slow a couple of times.

Speaker 3 (01:14:08):
I get it as the NFL, and I respect the
gladiators that go out there, but I'm just supposed to
be all right with the way this thing is going.
It all works together. Bobby's got to be his play
calling sheet has also have to be thinking about how
was the offensive line protecting that day? You had a
rookie starting at right tackle the other day that has
the impact. How many times I called an opportunity for CJ.

(01:14:32):
Togainst smack. That's just one of the things that jumped
out to tape to me, like, I'm uncomfortable with my time.
CJ's getting here. If y'all cool with it, then y'all
be cool with it, guys. Everybody out there is great.
That's all I can tell you. And that those defensive linemen,
those defensive events that get paid a lot of money. Unfortunately,
they're gonna get there sometimes. That's why CJ needs to
stay in the weight room like he does and he'll

(01:14:53):
be fine. I want to ask you about those guys
getting after the passer. We tail on offense like it
has doesn't look the way we thought he would. Defensively,
there were a lot of guys that play really good football,
but the tape tells me a couple of dudes at
a particular position. I'm still waiting to see some things
from on defense on defense on the other side. We

(01:15:15):
come back John the Wells and Studio with Fleeting Gordon
next up, wrapping up here in seventeen minutes Sports Talk
seven nineteen.

Speaker 2 (01:15:22):
Who He's got next?

Speaker 5 (01:15:23):
Great?

Speaker 2 (01:15:25):
What's coming next?

Speaker 8 (01:15:26):
What did we do?

Speaker 9 (01:15:28):
And who's gotta take it to the next level? Back
to Daton North, Fleets and Chris Gordy. This is next
up on Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 6 (01:15:48):
Excited for Dylan. He's stepped there. He said the edge
really well. He got after the quarterback. Dylan did a
really nice job man, what a keep saying, an awesome story.
But he's an awesome young man. He's a pleasure to
work with, pleasure to be around, just such a great spirit.

Speaker 1 (01:16:04):
Like it's so encouraging and motivating to see.

Speaker 6 (01:16:07):
Him go out missing as much time as he did,
but he was still able to come in and affect
the game. Like made a really nice play where he
set the end, got off a block, and then made
a physical tackle on the running back. So as one
of the first players I showed the team and everybody
again just clapping for him.

Speaker 1 (01:16:23):
Excited for Dylan Dmiko.

Speaker 3 (01:16:26):
Ryan's happy for the former TCU standout defensive end Dylan Horton.
He was a mid round selection in last year's draft,
had a cancer diagnosis, so he missed all of last
year and here he is. He's back and he's contributing.
They call him up from the practice squad because we

(01:16:47):
saw Derek Barnett with be labeled inactive and you've got
Jerry Hughes on the short term iyard right now, so
that defensive end room until Denico Archer returns and they
can really used the Nika Archie right now. We'll get
him after this new England game. And so this defensive front.
Let me go a little some stantalytics because I went

(01:17:08):
back and I looked at some tape and I said,
you know what they really did rattle Josh Allen. I
really excuse me. Yesterday I appreciated and really lauded the
performance by Aziz al Shire. I don't know if you
heard that or not, Jay Wills. Aziz al Shi was
the best defensive player for both teams on the field
on Sunday. Number Zo was running around mat have it

(01:17:30):
big boy ball. He was smacking all right. Josh Allen
was pressured on forty five point seven percent of his
dropbacks and sacked once one for fourteen twenty four yards
when pressured, according to Next Gen Stats. So Dylan Harden
and we bring these guys have to play because it's
just Will Anderson, Junr and the Neil Hunter. They can't

(01:17:51):
play all the snaps. I'll get to the snap count
here in just a little bit. But I come and
ask you both a question we talked about on offense.
It don't look the way we thought it would look.
I got admit, defensively, I thought Daniel Hunter and Will
Anderson would just be animals. I thought like they would
be damn near you can't block both of them. I

(01:18:11):
thought it would they would be raising hell off the edge.
I haven't seen that.

Speaker 1 (01:18:17):
Well do you go by it?

Speaker 4 (01:18:18):
Because Everyoneilson brought this up last week. They lead the
league in disruption. They always right the overall defense. They
don't get the right Let me ask you the paulse
go because I know you want to keep going, keep going.

Speaker 1 (01:18:33):
Excuse me. I just want to add this to your point.

Speaker 10 (01:18:36):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:18:37):
ESPN next Gen stats.

Speaker 3 (01:18:38):
The Texans right now are fourth in the league past
rush win rate, So they are getting pressure on the passer.

Speaker 1 (01:18:46):
Domingo doesn't like the blitz. Sometime he does, sometime he doesn't.

Speaker 3 (01:18:49):
But they are putting pressure on the passer specifically those
two guys.

Speaker 1 (01:18:55):
Now Will Anderson Jr. Past rush win rate? Where was he?

Speaker 3 (01:18:59):
I'm looking at the rankings their route Will Anderson Junior
check seeing at thirteenth.

Speaker 1 (01:19:04):
In the league.

Speaker 3 (01:19:06):
Danil Hunter is not even ranked in the top twenty
five twenty five million a year.

Speaker 1 (01:19:10):
He not even ranked past rush win rate? Am I being?

Speaker 3 (01:19:17):
Am I being unfair? Did y'all think we will see more?
Be honest, I just think we see more from Willanderson
junior Denil Hunter. Absolutely, lordy. I mean we we're what
five games?

Speaker 1 (01:19:25):
In five games? Then how many sacks they got?

Speaker 3 (01:19:28):
Gordon will Anderson has what two to two and a
half and uh big Danil is out here with one
one and a half. Huh, Well they have fifteen as
a team. But now that's what I'm saying. They're playing
great as a team though, so does it really matter?
That's what I want to know. You if you hold
Josh Allen to nine for thirty, one hundred and thirty

(01:19:49):
whatever your one hundred whatever yaars he had, Listen, I
think that's a great day as a defense man. Hold on, well,
now yes from a past standpoint. Now he still gave
up one to fifty on the beast as in the
league in sacks. How come we talk about team but
when we talk about to the San Francisco for the Niners,
they say bosa.

Speaker 1 (01:20:10):
When we talk about Detroit, they say eight hutches, we
want more.

Speaker 3 (01:20:13):
When we talk about the Pittsburgh Steelers, they talk about
that hair raised off the edge that just got a
hundred sacks on Sunday night.

Speaker 1 (01:20:19):
TJ.

Speaker 3 (01:20:20):
Watt, When we gonna start talking about my guy and
I ain't giving up on Will Anderson Jr. And Danil,
and I would have done the deal too. I do
believe the Neil Hunters an upgrade over Jonathan Gernaard.

Speaker 1 (01:20:30):
I believe that.

Speaker 3 (01:20:31):
I don't know about that, I do. I saw one
game jg went crazy against who against his former team,
then went crazy. He's got one sack in every other
game not named the Texas.

Speaker 1 (01:20:41):
That's fair. We all just looked it up.

Speaker 3 (01:20:43):
So it's just something that I just raises my eyebrow
a little bit, all right, because we're up against it.
I asked you, two, gentlemen, anywhere y'all want to go?
As we put the bed Texans twenty three to twenty
over the Buffalo Bills. What else you got in the notebook?
We comfortable?

Speaker 4 (01:20:57):
Every well, Kymi Fairbaron Chick great. We feel that I
need to bring this up because I brought the set
up earlier. Stefon Diggs has played eighteen consecutive games without
one hundred yard receiving day. Again, I don't think that's
the end all, be all stat, but it's kind of
the one. We hold a receiver to receiver goes over
one hundred yards, we go that was an excellent day
I got in that same stretch. Nico Collins has had

(01:21:18):
six one hundred yard receiving games he including I think
two this year.

Speaker 3 (01:21:23):
Your question is who's the number one? Nico is clearly
the number. When he's playing number one, he's argumently best
receiving the league. All I'm saying is, if Nico is
out and they go into this game, Steph Diggs is
still fully capable of being a one.

Speaker 1 (01:21:38):
Will he go over one hundred yards? Will he go?
Would you?

Speaker 3 (01:21:40):
Would you bet your money that he's gonna go over hot?
Bet my money gets in the end zone. That's what
I care about. Score tous. He got three tuds on
the year. He can catch it and he can run
it in whatever you need him to do. He looked
mighty fast enough on that would be quarterback throwback versus
Jacksonville and skating into the end zone.

Speaker 1 (01:21:56):
Step it, y'all talking about my man? Wash out of it? Man,
we need we're gonna with this.

Speaker 7 (01:22:01):
This.

Speaker 1 (01:22:02):
This is a great week for the for the Houston
Texas office.

Speaker 3 (01:22:04):
Let me tell you why it's great for the office
coordinator because now he's going to have a full week
to prepare knowing that Nico is probably not going to play.
So now you're gonna be able to get Tanged Dell
more involved. You're gonna be able to draw some things up,
and now we're going to see, like I want to
see these other receivers step up. Like last year when
Noel Brown would step up and have one hundred and
fifty seven yards.

Speaker 1 (01:22:25):
They took turns standing up.

Speaker 3 (01:22:27):
Ye, anybody took turn So if Nico's out, that's what
I expect them to do this week. Everybody got to
step up and make turns and continue to make plays.

Speaker 8 (01:22:37):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:22:37):
The defense, The defense was good. You know that Josh
Allen is MVP candidate. This is great. I can't say great.
You got You've given up a buck fifty on the
ground in back to back week.

Speaker 1 (01:22:48):
So what he gave up three points in the first half, bro,
So what who cares about the yards?

Speaker 3 (01:22:54):
They they scoring the Russian touchdowns? Yeah, Jay one one, Okay,
that's it. And he averaged four point one on twenty
and listen, had it not been for bone headed Joe
Brady who stopped running the football, why did Buffalo stop
running the ball?

Speaker 1 (01:23:09):
It just didn't make sense to me.

Speaker 3 (01:23:12):
I got so much stuff I can't get to here,
all right? Uh closing remarks from you, j JG. Excuse me,
Jay Welles going yet? You got me thinking about grenad
jay Welles going into New England because we may not
get you between now and then, we'll get you to
react to that. On either side of that at New England,
should Joe Mixing go or can they beat him without Mixing?

(01:23:33):
I want Mixing to get healthy. I've had heinkle sprays.
They suck and then they take a long time to
recover from. So he gotta take his time. And even
if he come back, that's not to say he's going
to be really explosive like the guy that we want.

Speaker 1 (01:23:45):
It's the cutting that he's having the issue. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:23:47):
So yeah, all right, So you got Texas winning at
New England. Yeah, Gordon, I'll give you a pick on Friday,
all right, Joe Mixing?

Speaker 4 (01:23:56):
Should he go? Should they keep him out as a
fantasy football owner on three different teams?

Speaker 1 (01:24:00):
Say? Yo, Lex and he goes.

Speaker 3 (01:24:03):
Guarded here Texans fans, let's enjoy being the second seeded
team in the AFC. Right now, I am not concerned
with Nicocollins missing Sunday's game. If he has to Steph Diggs,
Tank Dale Dalton shows. There are enough people that Bobby
stock Oh and that guy that wears number seven. They
should be able to go to New England and get
a dub in that defense. We need to see some

(01:24:25):
improvement on Sunday. It was a good effort, but these
numbers over here, you gotta be able to stop being
job great job defense you hell Josh Allen a nine
for thirty man?

Speaker 1 (01:24:35):
Stop it?

Speaker 3 (01:24:35):
What is he talking about right now? Jonathan Wells, appreciate
