it's not his fault that their offensive line's not great.

Brian Thomas Walker little I mean, doesn't even touch Chris Jones,
who is being blocked by a tight end, throws everything off.
It's third and seven. You're like, they're gonna go four
and out here, Chiefs are gonna get the ball back
and it's just gonna end. And then he makes I
don't know, one of the best rows of his career
when you factor in the opponent. Monday Night Football, third

and seven or third and eight, and they just needed
to have a big play and Brian Thomas is open
and he kind of hits that honey whole spot between
the corner who BT had beaten and before the safety
hit over and it was just a perfect, beautiful pass.
It like doesn't get much better. A couple of plays later,

of the pass interference, and he falls on the ground
and I'm not gonna lie. When he fell on the ground,
I went this kind of felt like his you know,
remember when Tony Romo botched the snap or whatever Monday
Night Football against Kansas City. You're at the one yard line.
He had just made one of the best passes of

his career. And it's gonna end like this. He's gonna
get tackled. They don't have any timeouts. He'll have to
get up spike the ball with like seven eight nine
seconds left and they'll just probably lose, right And then
he gets up and he breaks a tackle and he
runs into the end zone. And it was pretty cool
and really impressive. So I'm still not a huge believer

in Trevor Lawrence, but that was a massive moment for
the guy's career because here's what I know and where
the Jags deserve credit, Like it makes sense why Tampa
did not want to lose Liam Cohen. He's pretty good.
I am blown away by the Jacks coaching staff. Liam
Cohen is a good coach. The defensive coordinator he hired,

this Italian dude from Jersey who played at Rutgers for
Schiano in the early two thousands, has that defense flying
around like they're from the early two thousands. Not the Jacks,
but just an NFL team. All their dbs are cracking skulls.
Their defensive line is fantastic, and they were missing their
best defensive line in a night. And Devin Lloyd, who

I don't totally blame them. It's tough new administration coming in.
You're basing it off previous you know tape. You don't
have any proof of concept in terms of like you
haven't worked with the guy. You don't know what it's
gonna be. Like. They declined his fifth year option and
he's been he's having like a Zach Bond type year.

of the coolest plays of the season. It was incredible.
It had some James Harrison in the Super Bowl against
the Cardinal Vibes where you thought those wide receivers were
gonna run him down and someone blocks him. It was awesome.
I mean that what a play, What a performance by
the Jaguars defense. I know they gave up the big

touchdown drive. You know, the Chiefs got the ball back
twenty four to twenty one with eight minutes left, drove
seventy plus yards six plus minutes, capped it off with
a touchdown. I had people texting me, should you just
let the jack score? You got all your time out
just so you hit the ball back and you control.
And in this modern day NFL, with how the games officiated,

with how easy it is to kick field goals, you
always want the ball last, unless it's in a situation
like the Chiefs where they got the ball with sixteen
seconds left at their own sixteen yard line and really
had no chance. Actually they did if if Hollywood Brown
turns his head. But the Jags there, they're four and one.
Their physical team. They have exceptional skill guys in theory.

You know Brian Thomas, a really skilled guy, Travis Hunter
who will dive into in a second ETN. And again
their coaching staff. I like Doug Peterson, really nice guy.
The Jacks have been a really, really poorly coached team
the last several years. That's not the case right now.
And I mean defensively, I've been blown away. They are
hitting people, and they are hitting people really hard. That's
just a massive win for Liam Cohen and even he

had the smile on his face because the margin in
football is so small. I mean, they win, they celebrate
biggest win on their home field, probably since the playoff
game against the Chargers, right which is years ago now,
but he knows they easily could have tackled him at

the four yard line. A couple more plays, time runs
out and you lose. So the margins are really small.
And this is a game last year the Chiefs win.
But like I said, listen, Trevor Lawrence isn't my cup
of tea. But like you watch him, I thought tonight
he was doing an excellent job with his legs. He
made countless plays, keeping plays alive with his legs. Running,

just gaining first downs when nothing was there, scrambling around. Obviously,
the Chiefs have a you know, fast defensive front. He's
he's a physical player. You know. One of the knocks
on him is like, how much does he love football?
It's like, well, I don't know. His dad literally once
said it doesn't mean everything to him, which for most
humans and most occupations that is true. But when you

play quarterback in the National Football League, the great players,
the guys who were drafted one and had lived up
to the hype, have been football addicts. And you think
about the Peyton Mannings, you think about the Tom Brady's,
you know, you think about the Drew Breeses. It's kind
of the way they were wired. And you know, it's
kind of been a knock on Trevor Lawrence. But tonight,
like I thought, it was a pretty gritty performance. He

doesn't always make the best decisions. His one interception when
they were up twenty one to fourteen, which on first
glance looked like the worst pick you'll ever see, turned
out to be a pass interference that did not get called,
and the defender absolutely obliterated the wide receiver. So I
can't put that on him. Now, you know, I think
Patrick Mahomes would say, well, I made the worst decision

so far of my season. I gave up seven points
in the red zone on the Lloyd picked six. Trevor
Lawnce did the same thing when he tried to reach
the ball over the end zone and he fumbled. And
so it's like those two cancel each other out. And
at the end of the day, like the Jags defense,
if their offense is just solid, they're going to be
a major problem because how well coached and how physical

their defense is one big picture thing I see with
the Jags through you know, the first month and a week,
Like the Travis Hunter thing is a little clunky, right
because they traded from five to two and traded a
future first round pick to get a guy who is

a dual threat player. He's an elite wide receiver. I
mean this is in theory and an elite corner. Well,
it turns out it's like, you know, those guys that
don't really have a job, but they got like multiple
side hustles. That's kind of what they're asking him to do.
The guy that has a job and then a side
hustle on the side is like he can focus on

his job from nine to five or eight to six,
and then worked the side hustle for a couple hours
at night. Well, they got Travis Hunter essentially working two
side hustles where it's pretty clear you don't need to be,
you know, an NFL scout or an NFL assistant coach
to know he should just play offense right now. But
they have to justify the move they made of making

the trade, so they have him out. They are chasing
Xavier Worthy probably stride for stride, one of the fastest
guys in the league, on a go route, and it
looked for a split second like Travis Hunter pulled his
hamstring chasing him down the field. Now, he definitely has
skills to play NFL defensive back, and he made a
play early in the game against Travis Kelce. But in

the biggest drive of the game, when they're up twenty
four to twenty one and the Chiefs are driving down
the field, you know's out of the field, Travis Hunter.
And if you drafted a at number two overall in
that spot, that guy's definitely gonna be on the field.
And offensively, he clearly probably made the catch so far
of his short career on the deep bond that Trevor

Lawrence is a terrible deep ball thrower. He did hit
Brian Thomas on the one, but most of his deep
balls just float in the air. Travis came back against
the two DB's caught the thing. It was an awesome play.
But I do think they just need to embrace it.
All these players and all these coaches aren't trying to
hate on the kid when they universally say it's impossible

to do. It is not possible to play both. This
isn't two side hustles because you could. You could work
a job and have multiple side hustles. Now more than
likely you're not going to be successful in them all
because you don't know. There's not enough time in the day.
There's not enough energy and intellectual capacity for ninety nine
point nine percent of people to be able to handle

that stuff. Football is no different. You can't perfect your
craft playing wide receiver against Trent McDuffie or you know,
the dudes on the Houston Texans or the Indianapolis Colts
defense on a weekly basis while trying to also understand
coverages to go well, if Zavi, you're worthy and Travis

Kelcey and you know, Michael Pittman and Tyler Warren too
much going on. It's definitely not possible. As a rookie.
You can't change the fact of what you paid for
the player you made the trade. If you could redo
it right now, you probably would, but you did it.

to realize, let's maximize his talent in twenty twenty five.
Where do we need him. We need him on offense
right now because that is where he can be the
most effective. You can't half ash your way on defense,
probably ever in the NFL, but definitely not in twenty
twenty five with the rules. I mean, these guys spend

so much time working on their craft and he's splitting
it and it shows so to me. If I'm the Jags,
your four and one, you have a lot of positive momentum,
Your defense is really good. You know, your defensive backfield
actually is really impressive. They have to be one of
the hardest hitting groups in the league. Use them on
offense strictly, I guess occasionally you can use them on

like a third and long out there, but it made
no sense the way they shuffled it, and it hasn't
made all sense all season long, and if anything, it's
taken away from him offensively. One thing is pretty clear
with Trevor Lawrence. He's not Drew Brees or Steve Young
when it comes to accuracy. So you get a guy
on offense like Travis Hunter that has a big catching radius,

who do you think that helps helps quarterback? Who is
gonna need some help? Because now once you're four and one,
it's like, Okay, we got our site set on trying
to win the division and make the playoffs. Cause anything
beside being in the mix to win the division heading
into December and being a wild card type team is
a massive disaster once you're four and one. So props

to the Jags, props to Liam Cohen, and I just
think they need to stop worrying about the perception. It
feels like they're trying to prove it to us. Right.
It's like the OC for the Eagles. His game planning
changes from week to week, like whatever people are writing
in the paper, saying on local radio, you know, you
almost just just call the plays that you think are

gonna work, not what the reaction is gonna be by
the fans In talk radio on Monday morning, and to me,
that would be I think what most people would say,
even around the league when it comes to the Jags
and Travis Hunter, haven't focused on one position for right
now and then as time goes, especially this offseason, maybe
you can't expand it. But you're taking away really from

both units at this current time. The Chiefs, they're two
and three and no one to really blame with themselves, right,
they had an opportunity tonight. I mean they drive the field.
It looks like it was going to be, you know,
an early season defining win. Down with eight minutes to go,

offense leads him right down the field. Patrick Mahomes, I thought,
for the most part, beside the one pass which was
pretty bad, you know, he got greedy in the red zone.
As Rich Gannon said that a coach told him way
back in the day that throwing a pick in the
end zone is like killing a baby. And for a
long time back when I hosted radio shows, we used
to call it the baby zone, and throwing interceptions in

the baby zone is pretty devastating. And that's what Patrick
Mahomes did because at worst, even if you don't score
a touchdown, you get three points. Instead they get seven,
So being conservative, it's a ten points swing. Potentially it's
a fourteen points wing, given that you might have scored
a touchdown instead they do. But beside that pass, overall,

I thought he was pretty awesome. Now, his deep ball,
the the chemistry has with Xavier Worthy is a little off, uh,
But overall I thought they were much more explosive passing
the ball. The Chiefs are very dependent on him right now.
Obviously running the ball, they showed the you know, the

graphic that he's their leading rusher, which is far from ideal.
Though their head coach is not, you know, exactly a
Shanahan right he's not looking to lead the league rushing,
and I think he would say, we feel pretty good
about our short yardage group with Hunt and Pajaco, their
physical backs. They're good red zone backs. But we're never
gonna have games where our guys have twenty five to

thirty carries. That's not the way we play. We will
have high percentage passes that operate as runs, and that
goes back to kind of the West Coast offense where
Andy Reid was bred. But they had twenty two to
carry tonight. Now six of those are Mahomes, which you know,
I bet all six of them are you know, not

design runs. It's just him scrambling and making plays with
his legs, which he's excellent at. It's honestly, for all
the great players in the NFL, it's it's potentially the
most underrated attribute of any player is Mahomes' legs because
he's not like Lamar fast. Hell. I don't even think
he's as fast as Trevor Lawrence, you know, on the

on the speed scale relative to quarterbacks, he's probably somewhere
in the middle. But he's a very instinctive player. Like
it's his greatest attribute is his instincts. He is just,
you know, a true football player. The game comes very
natural to him. It's like you watch Trevor Lawrence. The
game's not as natural to him. He has the physical capabilities,

but you wouldn't say he's just like a natural football player.
Patrick Mahomes is one of the most natural, uh just
instinctive players I've ever seen. And usually the great players,
especially when you have the physical skills, they're they're the
most fun players to watch. You go back to like
Rogers and farv uh. You know, I think Josh Allen
has definitely developed some of those. He's gotten much more accurate,

where Trevor Lawrence is like more a creation. You know,
he's six', five you can, move he's got a good.
Arm you think he should be the number one overall
pick this all time great. Player and you watch him
like something's kind of. Missing doesn't mean he still can't
make plays as he did, tonight but you, know you Watch,
mahomes you're getting rice. Back thornton's been huge for. HIM
