Speaker 1 (00:00):
Now here's a highlight from Coast to Coast AM on iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Welcome back to Coast to Coast AM. My guest is
Sue Brain, and she is talking about the wonderful connection
between astrology and death and dying and the connection his cycles.
It's the cycles of astrology and the cycles of life

(00:25):
and death, and so she's known as a soul astrologer.
And I want to know, so if you could tell
us a little bit about what has been going on
in our planets cyclically right now and why are we
experiencing such a heightened sense of drama in I mean,

(00:45):
I think it's always been dramatic, but is there anything
specifically that's heightened right now that you could tell us about.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Yes, I can where where you are in what we
call the eclip season right now. September is the eclipse
season now, so we've just we've just had a full
moon eclipse in Pisces that was on the seventh of September.
So full moon eclipses are about endings and culminations and

(01:16):
reaping what we've sown and pieces is all about the
spiritual and mysticism, and it can also be because it's
pisc and it's it's it's also associated with suffering, spiritual
service and compassion, and also kind of confusion and delusions.
So this is a this is a very The eclipses

(01:40):
kind of they they magnetize the full moon. I think
that's the best way to describe an eclipse. It's a
very it's it's kind of like a new moon, a
full moon on steroids. We've had that going on.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
In instant new moon.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
It's it's in, it's in powers, it sort of what
do you call it, amplifies, the amplifies exactly, So amplifies
that that that pissy and eclipse. Now Pisces is opposite
Virgo and that is the that's the axis of service.

(02:22):
So we've got that kind of sort of confusion about
spiritual service versus sort of practical service and what does
that mean to us. So we've now got a full
the new moon eclipse coming on the twenty first of September,
but it's at a very potent degrees that it's at

(02:43):
twenty nine degrees, and it sort of carries this sense
of crisis and death because Virgo at twenty nine degrees
is it the very end of the season. It's before
we fully step into the Libra autumn season, so this
is marking the kind of descent into the darkest part
of the year. So Libra is the archetype of the jarge,

(03:07):
it's holding the scales of balance. But this new moon
eclipse is also it's actually opposite Saturn at twenty nine
degrees prices. I don't want to sort of confuse everybody
with a lot of astrology here, but there's something being
very triggered around endings, karmic endings. So Saturn is very

(03:28):
much to do with carries, the archetype of karma, and
Virgo is about sort of, as I said, practical service.
It's about health and welfare, but it can be very
hard on itself and on everyone else. So Virgo is
that part of us that's very critical, that's very analytical.

(03:50):
So she also wants to make the world a better
place to find ways of purifying it. So I think
we're going to be experiencing this sort of going to
bring up a lot of a lot of issues around
more ecological issues coming to light and the sort of
need of how can we create more diplomacy and careful

(04:14):
decision making, which is not happening in the world at
the moment because it's opposite prices, there is this sense
of confusion and so, well, what is the truth. That's
what we've really got to focus on this month.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
So what is there? So if I could summarize that,
you basically are saying that we felt this September eclips
season and the endings being magnified, which makes sense now,
and I did feel that a lot of things culminating
at once. Now this next new moon, when is the
new moon eclipse?

Speaker 3 (04:51):
So the new moon eclipse is on the twenty first,
so it's actually on that, It's actually absolutely and so
this is amplifying the whole concept that we're walking into
a very powerful ending of some.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Form, and will this also show up in our lives
where there's an ending.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
If you have any planet at twenty nine degrees of
Virgo or twenty nine degrees of Pisces, they're right opposite
each other, that is going to I would really take
note of that and just be observant, don't be frightened
by it. Astrology is not here to frighten people. It's

(05:37):
here to empower you or here to educate you. Just
be very very open and watch what goes on in
your life. But it an eclipse. When it's that powerful,
it can mark a very strong ending in your life,
or to open up something that is waiting to be

(05:59):
opened up which you might not even be aware of.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
And this should happen around the end of the month. Yeah,
is there anything we can do to prepare for that?

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Well, just be aware that it's happening. I think that's
that's the big thing. And check, you know, for anybody
who knows their chart, check your chart because as I said,
if you've got a planet at twenty nine degrees virgo
or twenty nine degrees prices, that's going to play out
in your life somehow. And obviously it depends on the

(06:29):
rest of your chart or the aspects that are being
made into it. But I think the most important thing
for me, and this is this is going into a
bit more deep astrology here. The planet Pluto, which is
the which is the planet of transformation, death and rebirth,
is going what we call out of bounds south from

(06:54):
the twenty So it's actually out of bounds now and
when and this is when a plan and it moves
out of the the apparent Son's plant path, which we
call the ecliptic, so Pluto is all about power and
processing death and rebirth, and it's cut free. It is
not making any relationship with the Sun or the rest

(07:16):
of the planets is out of bounds. So there's a
wonderful astrology called Rosie Flynn and she's done a power
of research onto this, and she points out that throughout history,
Pluto out of bounds to the south is more is
kind of always associated with revolts. Well, there's a lot
of that going on in the world at the moment,

(07:37):
isn't there.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
And she.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
Identified that it's also associated with collapses of civilizations and
extreme lessons. And I think this is a very volatile
time that we are in now and this is certainly
going to be going on for a while. And what's

(08:03):
so interesting is that when Pewter comes back into it
into bounds again, which is in November, it won't be
going out of bounds again for thousands of years.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
So it is a significant time. Could it explain the
I mean, I had Pluto in my Capricorn sign for
the last year and it's a really rough, rough planet
to have in your sign, considering that.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
It is, so you're a captcorn aru les, Yes, yes, Okay, yeah,
that was rough, but that it's.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Gotten a lot better now. And I'm curious if you see,
there's obviously a lot of divisiveness that is in our
country here, and very very hostile divisiveness, and we've seen
that in the most recent shooting of the Charlie Kirk.
There's so much divisiveness around it. I wonder other are

(09:04):
planetary indications of divisiveness.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
Well, I had a look at Charlie Kirk's chart. We
don't know his time of birth, so we don't know
his ascendant. But I mean, utterly shocking. But what was
so interesting that Uranus has just gone what we call
retrograde in Gemini, and Uranus is the planet of shocks
and surprises, and Gemini is all about how we communicate,

(09:34):
and it just it was so symbolic for me that
that there he was giving a speech, you know, very Gemini.
He's a very vocal chap and you know, the Uranus
just steps up and just shocked everyone, so sort of

(09:55):
archetypally there we have a story. But what I was
really interested in was on the day of his assassination,
Mars the planet Mars, now Mars is the Warrior. We
call it the archetype of the warrior, and it was
sitting and mars is always a trigger. It moves very

(10:16):
quickly around the chart and it's always a trigger. And
it was sitting smack bang on his son, and Pluto
was squaring his moon, and that's a very difficult square.
When you've got a Pluto squaring moon, it's a very
difficult aspect to deal with emotionally. And then we had Saturn,
the lord of Karma, sitting right on the roots of

(10:38):
who he was, and then Urinus transiting, Urinus come up,
coming up to conjunct what we called his south node.
That's kind of solostrologies look at. That's the point of
our entry and the point of our exit. So yeah,
he had some very very difficult as specs in his chart.

(11:01):
On the day that he was he was shot triggered
by mars.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
On, he should have had an astrologer tell him never
to go out that door that day.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
You know, this is this is the whole thing, isn't it.
It's so this is the conundrum about astrology. Astrology can
can give you very clear pictures about what the themes
that may happen, but I never use it to predict
because you can't.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
You can't predict live your life like that, you'd never
walk out the door exactly.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
So that's not how I use astrology. And to be
honest with you, that kind of prediction, that that kind
of astrology isn't for me. I'm much more interested in
the psychology of our psychology and our relationship with with
synchronicity and the cycles and patterns that astrology provides for us.

(11:56):
It's our map, it's our language, if you like. And
if we know our chart, we begin to know how
we tick. And I'm a great believer. The more that
you know who you are, the more that you are
able to lay your demons at rest, if you like.
And for me, knowing who I am is enabling me

(12:18):
to prepare for my death. I want to reach my
death feeling comfortable about who I am. I don't want
to be feeling God, I wish I had you know
I I or I feel that I'm not complete, or
I wish I was full of regrets. I don't want that.
I want to be open and receptive to who I

(12:41):
wats and all to who I am. And I think
that's for me what astrology. The gift that astrology has
given me, but I just wanted to say something I
don't know. Have you heard of Stephen Jenkinson, who who
started something called Orphan Wisdom and he's been talking about
death and dying forever And it was very synchronosic as

(13:05):
I was preparing a talk about this and one of
his emails dropped into my inbox and he said in
this email, this was a quote from him, and I
think it's so profound. We are, no matter our passports
or our beliefs in the matter, the grandchild of a
forlorn culture of orphans who've overstayed so forgot to go

(13:30):
home and now we're not sure where home is.

Speaker 2 (13:36):
That makes sense, so last souls?

Speaker 3 (13:38):
Yeah, well yes, And I think he's referring to how
Western culture regards death as a medical failure and this
kind of the nile of the most natural end to
our mortality means that we've actually lost sight of the
blessed release of death. We don't even believe it is
a blessed relief. I think, you know, we think it's

(14:01):
a graduation, yeah, a tragedy, and for many people it's not.
But it's very difficult for people to say things like that.
And I learned that in the death cafes. You know,
people saying I shouldn't say I'm so I'm so relieved
when my mom died. So yes, you can say that
because she's stopped. You know, that's when the suffering stopped.

(14:23):
But we're meant to be staying a fully functional in
you know, until we're in our coffins at ninety five,
which is not what we're here to do. Let me ask.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
So you're saying death is a natural part of life,
but what about dying in a difficult cancer or a
body riddled with MS or unhealthy death? I understand living
healthy lives until we're one hundred and one hundred and whatever.
You want to live to be in a healthy way

(14:56):
with great relationships and community and loved ones around you.
But what about alternative, which is dying with the body
that is riddled by illness? Is that a karmic thing?

Speaker 3 (15:07):
Well, I wouldn't. I can't say it's karmic. But what
I know is that when I have talked to people
who have cancer, and when I've talked to people who've
had who've sat beside people who've had very difficult death,
is a massive learning involved on some level and I'll

(15:29):
never forget interviewing a woman whose father had had the
most horrendous death and she sat with him as he
fought death because he didn't want to die, and she
just said, I found it. It was so traumatizing to

(15:49):
be with him, so I choose to remember him as
he was. And I suddenly said to her, do you
know what? You gave him? The ultimate love by willing
sitting beside him and watching him suffering until he stopped.
And that's love with a capital L. Yes, that's utter,

(16:10):
that's going far beyond small little love. And she learnt
a lot because of that. But she had to walk
the fire to do it.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
So yeah, So there is some type of a now
I wouldn't say karma, but there is some type of
a cyclical learning experience with end of life on all ends.
I am so curious about what death rituals are. What
is a ritual of death?

Speaker 3 (16:45):
I don't work with ritual Well, I did it on
an academic level. I mean, ritual really is. Honestly, it's
as easy or simple as lighting a candle. And I
encourage a lot of people who are sitting beside the
dying to do something as simple as that because the
light comes and that's what we're bringing in. And in

(17:07):
my experience of working with the dying and talking to
so many people and interviewing so many people, love comes
very present at the end of life, often unexpectedly. And
it's not, as I said, this kind of limited human love.
It is the love and I always call it love
with a capital L. And I find that really interesting

(17:31):
and this whole concept of people dying in very very
difficult deaths. But I mean this opens up a huge
moral conversation about are we actually have we forgotten to
go home? Are we living beyond our soul date? Are we,
you know, are we trying to cheat death?

Speaker 1 (17:52):
Well?

Speaker 3 (17:53):
Guess what we.
