Have you been Thank you so much for having me.
I've been great and even better now that I'm here.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Well, we're looking forward to this. We're going to have
some fun and some knowledge from you.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
I'm so excited.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
How did you get involved in witchcraft?

Speaker 3 (00:49):
Oh? Wow, it's always a big question. I love it.
It's something I've always been interested in. And I grew
up in something called spiritualism, which means that I went
to seances and table tippings and energy healing type of
things when I was really young, like eight years old,

(01:09):
ten years old. And with that, basically what happens is
spiritual phenomenon spiritual experiences becomes really normalized, and of course
I got interested in other things like witchcraft and magic,
and a little bit of it does run in the family,
so that's always helpful too.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Was it your mother, your grandmother that had the influence
on you?

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Yeah, my mom's side of the family, so it would
be my mom and my mother on that side. I'm very,
very blessed for that.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Somehow you stumbled into magic. Tell me what you think
about magic.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
I think there's a lot of very interesting preconceived notions
about what it is and isn't. A lot of people
think about card tricks and sleight of hand magicians and
shows like that. But the way that I think about
magic is it's really all about connecting with your intention
and focusing your energy to create the change that you

(02:08):
want to see in the world, whether that is yourself,
in your own life or the world at large. So
it really is just about shifting the energy within yourself
and the energy around you.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Does it always work?

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Most of the time. It does if you know what
you're doing, But if you're new or your intention is
a little bit wobbly, you might not get the results.
I like to think about it like learning a language,
So you're not going to be fluent in Spanish after
one Spanish class. You're going to need to practice a
little bit. And magic and spirituality is exactly the same thing.

(02:45):
It takes a little bit of practice to get an instant,
excellent result.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
The late Frank Sinatra used to sing a song called
that Old Black Magic. What is black magic?

Speaker 3 (02:58):
It's a great question. A lot of peopleeople like to
separate magic into black and white, depending on the intention. Personally,
I don't think that magic really has a color. I
do think it's all a little bit gray, and people
usually use that word black magic to refer to something
that is malicious or harmful. But honestly, sometimes you can

(03:23):
harm people even if your intentions are positive. So I
always like to remind people to do magic and this
intention based spiritual work mostly on yourself, rather than trying
to control other people. So for me, that's really really
important to stay away from the bad vibes.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Sabrina are curses part of magic.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
They can be. They absolutely can be. I've seen it happen,
I've undone some curses on people before. Absolutely. At the
same time, a lot of people have come to me
thinking that they're cursed and wanting me to undo it.
But most of the time, people who think they're cursed
are actually not cursed and are just the victims of

(04:06):
bad luck or their own bad choices. And there's definitely
magical and mundane ways to get out of that and
lead a better, happier life no matter what your circumstances are.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
What would be the opposite of a curse?

Speaker 3 (04:20):
Hmm? I love this question. I think it would probably
be something with the intention of positivity and bringing good vibes,
attracting healing, attracting positive circumstances to your life, and banishing
bad vibes from your situation. That could be doing magic

(04:42):
and spiritual practice to get rid of trauma, get rid
of any bad habits, or just limiting beliefs things that
hold us back. And so instead of putting bad energy
towards someone else, we're getting rid of whatever bad energy
is lingering within us and our life and our environment,

(05:03):
because we do have control over that and might as
well work with what we can control to improve things.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Well. A curse by its nature is bad, though, isn't it?

Speaker 3 (05:13):
It is? It is. I do think in some very
rare circumstances it can be deserved. That's maybe a controversial opinion,
but I very very very rarely will recommend that folks
do that type of thing. I think usually the best
thing to do is just let things go and just

(05:35):
move on. And a lot of the time people want
to curse others when they're a little bit annoyed or
their feelings are hurt, and in my mind, that's just
completely inappropriate and a little bit immature, So I tend
to only condone it in very severe or extreme circumstances,
and even then it's a little bit dangerous because a
curse can tie you energetically to somebody. So personally, for myself,

(05:58):
I tend to recommend my client is just walk away
and sever all energetic ties with whoever it is that
they are thinking of cursing.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Can anybody practice magic, and do most people who practice
magic know they're doing that?

Speaker 3 (06:13):
It's a good question. I think anyone can learn. I'll
use that Spanish class analogy again. Anyone can go into
a Spanish class and learn Spanish. Eventually, people who speak
French or Italian are probably going to have a way
easier time with that than someone who only speaks English.
So anyone can learn. But there's definitely going to be

(06:33):
people who have an easier time, either due to growing
up with some form of spirituality like I did, or
just being naturally very intuitive, and there's going to be
other people who have a little bit of a harder time,
But you can still absolutely learn. I one hundred percent
believe that, and I've taught people from all walks of life,
all different types of experiences and lack thereof to gain

(06:55):
these skills, So it's absolutely possible. And the second part
of your question was around you some people know that
they're doing magic. I think the most successful magic does
happen when people know what their intention is and they're
focusing all of their energy and effort into that intention.

(07:15):
That usually is when it works best. But I do
think that even if people aren't aware of that framework
of magic and what magic is, that that intention can
still be really, really powerful. And there's a lot of
cultures that talk about the evil eye, which is really
just a way of talking about bad vibes, whether through

(07:36):
jealousy or something else, being directed at someone else. And
in a lot of cultures that have that, that's really
just as simple as thinking ill towards somebody and as
simple as that. There's no ritual necessarily involved, no lighting
of candles or anything like that, so bad thoughts towards
somebody are considered to be something that we do need

(07:59):
to protect ourselves from. So it's definitely something to think about.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
Is it easy to practice magic or is it difficult?

Speaker 3 (08:07):
Hmmm, it's a good question. I think it does get
easier the more skillful you get, but there's always room
for growth and there's always room for learning. I think
for the beginner it does often feel a little bit
challenging at first, because there's so many things to think about,

(08:27):
so many things to be aware of. A lot of
beginners usually like to follow an exact recipe for a spell,
like do this at that time, clap three times, say this,
get this kind of candle, and they want it to
be very exact. But over time, when you get more experience,
you don't really need the recipe anymore. So it's kind

(08:48):
of like cooking, where you can freestyle and you know
the ingredients so well that you can just come up
with something excellent off the spot that's on the spot.
It's probably going to be a lot better than what
the recipe says. Anyway, so magic is kind of the
same thing. Once you get more skills and more experience,
it is a little bit easier to do at a

(09:09):
higher level.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
Hollywood has generally made witchcraft very evil, with the exception
of Bewitched. Do you remember that TV show? You're probably
too young for that.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
No, I do remember that.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
Actually with Elizabeth Montgomery, she would wiggle her nose whenever
she made a wish or did something.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
Yeah, I watched that as a kid. It was fun.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
Hollywood portrayed her as being a good witch, but that
was very unusual because most of the Hollywood witches weren't
good m.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
Yeah, I think it's changed a little bit, especially with
Harry Potter and that type of series, which does point
magic in a really positive way. Obviously that's not the
type of magic that I'm talking about, but if we
are talking about the witch as an archetype, I do
think that series, the Harry Potter series, being so positive

(10:08):
and uplifting and very much about success over adversity and
perseverance and friendship and all of these really lovely, virtuous themes.
And since it was directed towards children as a kind
of positive role model, I do hope that characters like
that and series like that have started to change the
tides a little bit when it comes to just a

(10:30):
one dimensional depiction of witchcraft.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
Well with Sabrina Scott talking about spiritualism and witchcraft, can
you protect yourself from bad energy?

Speaker 3 (10:43):
Yes, you can. So there's a lot of different ways
to do this. One of the main ways that I
talk to my students about is something called shielding. And
so one way to do this is to picture a
white ball of light around yourself and just imagine any
bad vibes coming towards you just bouncing off and going

(11:04):
somewhere else. And it sounds a little bit simple, it
might sound a little bit silly, but over time, as
you do this practice, either every morning or every night,
or even the middle of the day when you're at
work or in a really tough conversation, or maybe you're
on the bus or something like that and there's a
lot of other people's energy around you, try to do

(11:25):
it and it might feel silly at first, but I
do find over time my students tend to realize, wow,
I am getting results here, and I feel really different
the days that I do shield versus the days that
I don't, And something like that can be a really
simple beginner's way to begin to do that basic energetic protection.

(11:46):
I call it spiritual hygiene. It's kind of like the
spiritual version of brushing your teeth, just keeping your energy
clear and protected from anything that would wish you ill.
And another recommend I usually have for people is to
get some kind of good luck charm, and that can
be anything. A lot of people really love crystals these days.

(12:08):
It can be a necklace, a piece of jewelry hand
me down from a relative, and to carry it on
your person, in your bag, in your pocket, whatever. And
the object should be something that really brings you peace
and happiness and contentment and makes you feel safe and protected.
And I think most of us will have an object

(12:29):
like that in our life, gifted perhaps from someone that
we really care about or cares about us, or something
like that. And don't overthink it. It's it's always better
to do a little bit and just start not knowing
everything than to just not do anything at all.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
So, Branda, does it bother you? Does it offend you?
When people practice witchcraft the wrong way?

Speaker 3 (12:53):
It's a great question, you know what? Not really like? Yes?
And no, I really do want to respect other people's paths,
and what other people do is in some ways none
of my business unless it starts to affect me, or

(13:13):
students might come to me having learned incorrectly from someone else,
and then I kind of have to redo it and
reteach them. So in some senses it does matter and
I do care. But on the flip side, I think
a lot of people practicing quote unquote wrong, the only
person that's really suffering from that most of the time

(13:34):
is just themselves, because they're not really going to be
getting the results that they could get or the transformation
and peace in their life that they otherwise could get,
So that's kind of their own problem. When I really
do start to care about people doing it wrong is
when it begins to harm other people or it's being

(13:55):
used in a controlling way. That is really not something
that I can done, And I think a lot of
time folks doing that type of work need some other
type of intervention that isn't magical, perhaps therapy, perhaps journaling,
perhaps just taking a breath before doing anything malicious to
someone else. There's definitely always a better way to deal

(14:17):
with those strong emotions.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
I'm going to ask you as Sabrinna. They give us
two stories. One is good witchcraft, the other is bad.
Oh geez, what has happened that you've witnessed?

Speaker 3 (14:31):
What has happened that I've witnessed? So really, how do
I even There's so many stories I could tell? How
do I choose? You know, what I will give? I'll
sort of a bad example first, And this is actually
an example of the evil Eye. So this was many
years ago, fifteen or so years ago, and I was

(14:52):
about to get a surgery and I was really nervous
about it, and a friend I had at the time
really a reason. She was just jealous, weird vibes, didn't
want other people to be happy, was just kind of
a grumpy person. I was young, so I didn't really
notice that about her at that time. And I think
what happened was that she was feeling so many types

(15:15):
of ways about me that she directed her bad energy
about me towards me, and I ended up getting incredibly
sick right before the surgery. I realized it was the
evil eye, and I was able to undo it magically,
and I recovered pretty much immediately, like within like twelve hours.

(15:37):
I was good to go and was able to get
my surgery on schedule, and everything was fine. I healed great,
everything was completely fine. But if I didn't know that
that was what was going on, it wasn't a typical illness,
it was the evil eye giving me physical symptoms, I
would probably have had to reschedule and everything just would
have been really messed up. So I really do believe

(15:58):
the evil eye is a thing, and I really really
strongly recommend that folks do that really basic shielding practice
that I mentioned earlier, bring some kind of good luck
tern with you to protect you from bad energy. It's
really really important. And in terms of an example for
something really positive, yes, yeah, let me think, there's so

(16:20):
so many. I think some of the most powerful. I
think some of the most powerful examples I can think
of are from many of my students and clients who
when I'm able to guide them through their own magical
practice that is one hundred percent unique to them, that

(16:41):
I'm able to guide them through that, I've seen some
enormous life transformations in people, and it's honestly the highlight
of my life being able to see people go from miserable,
sad in a bad relationship, in a bad marriage, really

(17:03):
miserable at their job to be able to go from
that like depressed, unhappy, inauthentic to thriving, authentic, happy, joyful,
living somewhere new, maybe a new job, new relationships. Like
I've seen a total one to eighty in the people
that I've worked with, and I've seen that in my

(17:25):
own life as well, And being able to see that
with my clients so often as I lead them through
magical practices that are one hundred percent unique to them.
It's honestly miraculous. And I see miracles all the time.
I see insane fantastic transformation all the time, like's it's

(17:45):
amazing the way that people are able to change their lives.
And I do see a lot of people getting divorced
these days and then ending up in much better relationships.
And a lot of the time I see people before
they work with me thinking that this be all there is?
Is this all there is to life? Do I have
to stay in this miserable situation forever? And what I

(18:06):
love about magic and witchcrap and spirituality and intention setting
and all of this positive stuff I'm talking about, is
it really can help be the wind in people's sails
and help them realize, Wow, I do have control over
my life. I do have some agency here, and I
can work with my intention, I can work with spirituality,
I can work with my ancestors, I can work with

(18:27):
good positive energy from the universe to help catapult myself
into a new circumstance, into a better, happier, healthier life.
And it's absolutely amazing the changes that I've seen people
who with thought that their life was always going to
be mediocre, like a four at a ten, five at

(18:48):
a ten, and being able to transform that within months,
sometimes into being the happiest version of themselves they've ever
been like. It's it's absolutely fantastic. And one thing that's
super unique about magic is it connects people to their agency,
and by agency, I mean the ability to make choices.
