Speaker 1 (00:00):
Now here's a highlight from Coast to Coast am on iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
And welcome back to Coast to Coast George Nori with you, RJ,
Spiina back with us. RJ has changed many lives through
his somewhat unconventional teachings. He's an internationally published, three time
best selling author, Humanitarian Award winner. His latest work is
called The Law of Attention. RJ. Welcome back. How have
you been.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
I've been very well, Georgian. Thank you so much for
having me on again. I think this could be my
fifth time on your show. I got a film. People
are going to think we're long lost brothers separated at birth.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
We might be, We might be. Will you do a
great job for us?
Speaker 3 (00:40):
Oh, I appreciate it, and thank you again. Thank you
for having me, George, I appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Meditation, manifestation, my gosh, how do we get involved in
doing that?
Speaker 3 (00:51):
Well, you know, as you said, I do have an
unconventional approach, but I would say meditation we have been
taught incorrectly. I like to say that the self what
we really are. And if you want to use the
word soul or the I am or consciousness itself, it
exists prior to thinking, prior to emoting, prior to the body,
(01:14):
prior to the incarnation. So really the self is meditation.
So in essence, we don't have to quote unquote do
anything to meditate. We have simply normalized constant doing this thinking,
emoting and analysis, and so therefore we struggle to actually
just stop doing it because that's sort of like the
(01:36):
default setting now. But if we would literally just allow
and accept ourself for who we are and not try
to live up to something, not try to check off
a to do list in terms of analysis, constant motion,
we would realize that we are meditation itself and it
doesn't even require an effort.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Give us your definition, our jay of meditation.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
It's the space between thoughts, is really what it is.
And there's so many ways that we can actually normalize
not thinking perpetually. I know on the surface people like, no,
I have to think all day long, but I promise
you we don't have to do that. We've just normalized that.
But the self is meditation and it's the space in
(02:18):
between thoughts.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Are we born with the ability to meditate it? Do
we have to be trained?
Speaker 3 (02:25):
No, we are the self awareness. We are meditation George.
We have been indoctrinated and trained to constantly think, analyze,
and do, and so that's why it's difficult for people
to do it because our normal setting is thinking, analyzing, doing,
constantly moving around. But if we just accepted ourself for
(02:46):
who we are, not try to live up to something,
we would realize that we would naturally start to be present.
And that doesn't mean not do things, because that's kind
of like the flow state, but we would naturally start
to be present, and we would mind activity just start
to go down. And as mind activity goes down, we
start to widen, so to speak, the space between thoughts.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
And what would you say, our jay, the manifestation of meditating.
What's the value of it?
Speaker 3 (03:19):
Well, meditation has endless benefits, health benefits, the ability to
feel like you're fully here, to become fully engaged. It
starts to loosen the grips of our identifications, attachments, concepts,
and beliefs. They start to fall away. We start to
(03:40):
feel more like our self. So and our DNA is
constantly being changed moment to moment, and nothing changes it
more than actually allowing ourselves to be present. We keep
misprogramming ourselves with concepts, beliefs, roles, ideologies, so called knowledge.
If we begin to normalize being present, those tethers over
(04:04):
our consciousness and therefore our body of energy start to
wither away and our frequency starts to raise. As our
frequency raises, illness disharmony cannot exist in a high frequency environment.
The benefits, George, of meditation are literally endless. We still
don't really understand all the benefits of meditation.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Did Jesus meditate?
Speaker 3 (04:32):
I think yeah, absolutely, And I think there's a couple
of ways to look at this, George. So by being present, right,
so we can call that non thought, that is a
state of meditation. Now there's also various ways, and I
teach various ways of raising our frequency. So what Jesus
(04:52):
would do is be present, but he would also be
able to raise his frequency by expanding his consciousness. So
if we think about I'll just use an analogy, if
we think about a high rise building, If we set
our intention to take the elevator and to go up,
and we can do this by surrender and setting intention
(05:15):
to go up, we can actually just raise our frequency.
And as we raise our frequency, we're getting a more
expansive holistic view of our self and the greater reality.
Those higher states of consciousness or higher frequencies can be normalized.
And so I don't know if you've ever seen like
a three D movie, George, where they do that countdown
(05:35):
in the beginning ten nine eight and it's coming at
you and that three D. Okay, we can and then
I teach how to do this. We can actually have
these higher frequencies on or within our screen of consciousness
and they're kind of in the background, overlaid over our
low frequency physical reality or where just our physical senses
(05:59):
can perceive. So there's a way to actually normalize that
state where you're able to actually experience and take in
the information that exists in these higher frequencies. And true masters,
and of course Master Snanda or Jesus is obviously a
true master. He was able to do that. He would
(06:20):
normalize this state of expanded consciousness. But it's not as
difficult as people may think. It is.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Is yoga a form of meditation.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
Yoga is meditation for the body, it absolutely is. And
crea yoga which was brought to the West by Paramahatsi
Yogananda not that long ago. That was because that was
his mission in terms of bringing that over to us,
because at that time, human consciousness was operating in a
(06:52):
more denser way. So in order to get to true meditation,
Yogananda realized that we had to go through the body
itself in order to bring us to a state of meditation.
But now the base frequencies of humanity, even though it
may not seem like it, but it's true, the base
frequencies of humanity are actually higher than they were when
(07:13):
Yogananda first started bringing crea yoga over to the West. So,
and that's part of why I can teach instantaneous one
second meditation because we're already operating at a higher state
or a higher frequency.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Why does meditation seem to involve breathing techniques.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
Well it can't, it can, Georgia doesn't. It doesn't have to,
It doesn't have to. But the reason what the breathing
techniques is because it gives the mind something to concentrate on.
And that's really it. Because the mind is typically just active, right,
it just starts thoughts, just start popping. We're always in
a state of rumination of projections. So if we focus
on the breath and one quick easy way to do that,
(07:52):
George is if we just focus breathing in and out
through the nose. Right, So, if we just try to
locate where the air comes in and where the air
comes out at what part the end of our nose,
in the middle of our nose, where exactly does that happen?
(08:13):
And if we just bring our attention to where the
air comes in and air comes out right to that point,
we don't analyze it. We just bring our attention to
where that is, and we just keep it there. The
mind becomes very, very still. So by focusing on something,
it keeps the mind from becoming active and breath because
(08:37):
it's that natural in and out flow. That's a very
effective way to do it.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
What would you say or the benefits to people who meditate, George.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
I feel like the only time you really start to
understand who you are is when you're actually present and
you start to realize what you're passionate about, the the vast,
vast space within ourselves that is actually filled but yet empty.
At the same time, we start to feel joy, we
(09:10):
start to feel lighter, we get in touch with a
purpose and meaning by acting on what we're most excited
and passionate about. Meditation can be George can be completely normalized.
And I know this sounds weird, but it's absolutely true
with ericund cole point where we are in a constant
state of meditation or flow state and thoughts almost never
(09:33):
ever occur.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
Fascinating it truly is. Now is that different from manifestation.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
Well, manifestation is more about bringing about the whatever your
desires is. Desire is is bringing about it into the
material world, and through a state of flow or being present,
we're actually able to manifest based upon who we are
and not what we want. And this is I feel
(10:04):
it's groundbreaking. This is what I've been teaching people because
the outside, the so called there is no real outside world.
It's all a projection from inside. But the so called
outside world is simply a reflection of our inner world.
So in other words, if we desire to manifest something
and it doesn't really matter what it is, we have
(10:25):
to emanate that frequency and then the outside world matches
and amplifies that frequency. So manifestation, if we're always in
a state of wanting George, that means we're emanating that
specific frequency of wanting. The outside world will just mirror
and amplify wanting. Not the manifestation of the desire. So
(10:51):
this is where we start to turn manifestation on its head.
And this is why I like to say we manifest
based upon who we are and not what we want.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
What ways could people meditate that most people could do
very easily. There, I have a.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
Whole bunch of what I call instantaneous meditation magic tricks
that really that really only take one second. So one
of them is if we simply pretended that our two
physical eyes are not connected to our brain. So if
you just start just start looking, so to speak, but
(11:31):
imagine that those eyes are not connected to the brain,
meaning that there's no analysis going on. It's just perception.
You're just seeing, you're not analyzing. And so anyone can
do that in one second, and you'll notice that the mind,
the analysis just stops and in that moment, you're in meditation.
(11:54):
And we also start to realize in that moment that
what you're doing, that meditation, isn't even red acquiring an effort.
So if we can meditate in an effortless way, we
can maintain that indefinitely. And this is sort of the
revolution of meditation, sort of revamping and reconstructing what meditation
(12:16):
actually is. But that's one way, and I teach that
to little kids. I teach that to you know, people
that are eighty ninety years old. Anyone can do it
because we are the self. It is meditation, and we're
just dropping in by not analyzing, we're dropping into that
state of pure awareness, which is really what we are
well with R. J.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
Spina. His latest book is called The Law of Attention.
We'll get into that in a moment. Who taught you
these techniques? That?
Speaker 3 (12:44):
So? George, I describe it, and it's the only way
I can describe it. I describe these things as a remembering.
I was never taught meditation, any formal meditation. I've never
gone to a meditation retreat other than my own that
I give, I've never gone to a meditation retreat. There
was just something that happened with me. I mean, as
a little kid, I was leaving my body. But it
(13:07):
wasn't a conscious process through meditation, shall we say. It
would just occur. But then as I got older as
an adult, and this really happened in my early twenties,
I started I guess I had developed an intellect enough
to deconstruct what it was like to be in that state,
So it just kind of reverse engineer it. And so
(13:29):
I kind of come from that place of being present,
and then I just kind of reverse engineer the process
of all these various ways that we can get to
the state of pure awareness. So it's kind of like
a remembering I would, you know, I'd love to say
I created them all, but I don't even know if
I created any of these things. They just seemed to
(13:50):
be a part of me, and I just remember how
to do it.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
Fascinating.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
RJ.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Spina. Now, your new book is called The Law of Attention.
Tell us about the title.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
The Law, Okay, George, So the law of attention is
probably the most not slept on, eternal and immutable law
of the universe. And the law of attention, where your
attention goes, your energy flows, and where your energy flows,
it grows. So whatever our attention is upon becomes our
(14:24):
reality from moment to moment for all eternity. So when
we start to understand the power of the law of attention,
it completely changes our life. And for most of us,
we're putting our attention on things that do not necessarily
(14:45):
bring us joy, completeness, fulfillment, inner peace, passion. We're putting
our attention on things that we're just simply trying to
figure out, thinking that mental understanding will actually do anything
for us. It really isn't. The law of attention is
actually how you create your reality because we are kind
(15:07):
of like a container. The soul is kind of like
a container, George. So whatever you put your attention on,
think about like a scary movie. I'll use an easy example.
We're watching a scary movie, and our attention is on
the screen, right, and then we're connecting with it energetically
by putting our attention on it. That's why when something
(15:28):
scary happens on the screen you jump. It's because energetically
we have connected with it, and we become a container
and we're holding the frequency of what our attention is on,
and therefore we have that experience of it because we
are now emanating it and connecting to it. Now, if
we take this really far, and all you do is
(15:52):
put your attention on the I am within, or the
God within or God and stuff, however you want to
say that the only thing that you do is do
that by being present NonStop. The only thing that expands,
the only thing that you start to have the experience
of is God is the Im. It's kind of like
(16:14):
the self just keeps unfolding because all your attention is
on that. So if we shift the focus by utilizing
the law of attention, if they shift the focus from
inward and stay in a more of non analysis state,
and the attention is on and within the self, even
though the five senses are still working. If the attention
(16:34):
is on and within the im or the self, it's
the im that unfolds. It's the self that unfolds. It's
the higher consciousness that unfolds. And what I'm talking about
right now, true mystics and masters understand this, and this
is exactly what they do.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
Is the law of attention. Does it echo the law
of attraction? Not?
Speaker 3 (17:02):
No, not not really tors the law of attraction. I mean,
from from my perspective, the law of attraction is kind
of a yeah, kind of a dumbed down humanistic version
of the law vibration, which is one of the seven
Hermetic principles that was brought forth by thought.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
Who is who is?
Speaker 3 (17:17):
Who's also Buddha by the way, So no, it doesn't
mirror the law the law of attraction. The law of
attention is more about how you actually create your reality,
because what your attention is upon becomes your reality. It's
much more empowering to realize that we are literally creating
our reality based upon what our attention is on. And
(17:38):
as I said, if we want to grow ourself, if
we want to know ourself, if we want to reach
more of our infinite potential, all we have to do
is keep our attention on the sell because what your
attention is on grows, and that's that's really the key
to knowing yourself right, know thyself and all thy infinite potential,
and then how to actually create the life that you want.
(18:00):
If you continue to put your attention on what you
want to grow, that's what we'll grow. This is the key.
The law of attention unlocks supernatural abilities on it unlocks
the reality that we want to create for ourselves, and
it also helps us develop which has never really talked
about anymore for a reason. It also helps us develop
self control and self discipline by having control over the
(18:23):
mind based upon what we're putting our attention on. So
there's no way to create a reality that we desire
or to know ourselves if we don't have control over
where we're putting our attention, and that's why the law
of attention is so important, and ours has been hijacked, George,
by constantly putting our attention on doom and gloom, all
(18:44):
these negative scenarios. It doesn't mean to be blind to it,
but if your attention is always on it, you actually
hold that frequency, emanate it, and then we actually build
that reality that we don't want.
