you must know, I've had agreat listen running with all you guys have
been great. I'll name a coupover here. We go Andy in Tacoma
and his famous punkin pie farmer Tedand his lovely wife Shannon double d Yo
and Anya from Olympia. They woulddrive up if we were doing something,
they would up and drive up fromOlympia. That's a really big deal for
me. Oh my goodness, Grace. And don't forget Door Reese and Chicago.
(01:53):
Everybody loves Doriese, including me,Tony Incapausen, Lenny, Mike and
Sulton, Sharon and who call upevery Friday with the very best jokes.
And whoever the hell gave me abrand new airfire. I love it and
thank you very much. If I'mforgetting it to and bye the way,
I'm sorry, but there are thousandsof listeners to this show, and this
is a really important moment in mylife, and I'm a little bit nervous.
(02:13):
So I've had so many incredible timeshere in Seattle with Kazy. Okay,
remember my sixtieth birthday party at TmobilePark. You guys showed up,
man, you were awesome, Andthese things happened like before Dawn Shambler's Crabbouse.
Remember that it was a live broadcast. You guys came in the dark
for me and I really pretty wellfor us, really but anyway, pretty
amazing. You guys delivered every singleyear the annual Christmas Toy Drive at Tacoma
(02:36):
Dondre with Phil Bibbins. I've learnedso much from you guys, Like I
know what a gooey duck is nowthey look like a wiener. That was
a shock to me. I sawwhales, it would be island. I
had oysters at Shagga Nut Drive, saw a cold Play, a climate Pledge
arena. I see the fireworks whooff every year the space needle from my
living room. How amazing is thata lot of you may have seen this
(02:57):
coming. You know. I wasoff the air for almost a year and
I was really really sick. AndI don't know the legal stuff on this,
but if I were iHeart, i'dhave fired me about three months in.
Are you kidding me? So?Thank you very much the IR guys
that didn't fire me. I wantto thank you guys out there in radio
and for sticking by me for sixtyyears. Adds right, I said sixty
years. I did my first professionalgig in television when I was four.
(03:19):
I'm sixty four. That's sixty years. It's unbelievable. The entertainment business is
not always kind to people who wantto make their dreams come true. So
I really want to thank you peoplethat made my dreams come true. This
is it, and my dreams aren'tover. For God's sakes, I still
have dreams. I'm going to retire. I'm probably going to go down to
Palm Springs. That's why I've beenspending so much time there. I want
to be warm before I die.Sarah, you've been nothing short of amazing.
(03:42):
You've been a great partner these pasttwelve years and before that when we
worked in Philly. The next guyto get this share is going to be
the luckiest person in the world. And thank you my agent. That sounds
weird, but he got me thisjob. My agent and my very good
friend Paul Anderson, we've been togetherfor more than two decades. I haven't
even had a marriage that last long, and I I've had three of them
puppies. Thank you very much too. My producers that would be Paul and
(04:02):
Waldo, who, by the way, the show would not sell anything like
the show without those guys, andmost Importantly, I would not be here
today if it weren't for my partnerin life, and that would be the
lovely and talented Amy as the luckiestguy in the world. Would she agreed
to marry me and be my wife? And wow, Amy, if you're
listening any better being listenings, you'resitting right next to me. Amy,
You're a rock man. I loveyou from the moon and back again.
(04:24):
If you bet five bucks earlier inthe show and whether or not I was
going to cry and you said yes, Well about five minutes ago you started
winning. So thank you very muchfrom the bottom of my heart. And
finally, I look forward to beinghere all week to celebrate my retirement with
you. Now, Sarah, whatthe news news is brought to you by
Union Gospel Mission. Well, certainlythe biggest news, Danny, was you
(04:45):
announcing this morning that you are retiring. Yeah, I'm afraid that time has
come. Well, obviously, youand I have been together for a very
long time, and I'm heartbroken byyour decision. I understand your decision.
What are your plans moving forward? You know, at this point I've really
got to watch my health. Iwas in the hospital, oh two,
maybe even three months this year,so I think I better check out my
(05:08):
health for a while. And whatare you literally planning on doing. I'm
literally planning on moving to Palm Springsfor the winter and then back here because
I have a little condo that doesn'tcost me anything in downtown, so I'll
do that. So you're going tosplit your time between Palm Springs and Seattle,
absolutely, I mean, it justis such a testament to how much
you love this city and loved yourtime on kz OK that you are going
(05:30):
to continue to live here permanently.Yeah, twelve years I've been here,
man, that's a very very, very good run. And Danny will be
here throughout the rest of the week. Y'all are stuck with me for all
of eternity. But make sure you'relistening to all of our shows this week.
As Danny says goodbye to a cityhe knows and loves, I do
what the hell's a gooey duck?Oh? Now I know. In a
(05:50):
bizarre moment of irony, a personthreatening to stab an Oregon apartment resident was
then instead stabbed by the person hewas trying to stab. Ok, this
seems fair to me? Does thismake sense? Yeah? Totally guy,
I wanted to stab a guy andthe guy that was going to get stab
stab that guy. Man. You'regood, good man. Watch we listened
to you. So this is amasked man and he knocks on the door,
(06:11):
and the guy opens the door. He's like, I'm gonna stab you
and take all your money. Andthe guy who lives there grabbed a knife
and stabbed the dude. All right, Is it just needble to to ask
this question? Would you open yourdoor for a guy in a mask holding
a knife. That's a good point. It's a really good question. Keep
it weird, Portland cool. Theworld's largest fast food chain is about to
get even bigger McDonald's as it plansto open another ten thousand locations. How
(06:34):
is that possible? How is thereany more locations left there everywhere? That's
a good point. This will happenover the next four years. Nine hundred
will be in the United States, the rest will be international. About half
the locations will be in China. And McDonald's already operates more than forty thousand
restaurants wow, in one hundred andeighteen countries. I root for them,
(06:56):
though I love the big giant companies. I really do. I hope McDonald's
gets bigger and bigger and bigger. It is always so crazy when you see
a chain, though, whether it'sMcDonald's or Subway or Starbucks and there's one
across the street. Yeah, totally. It surprised me because I looked around
and thought, well, you knowthat, I looked around to see if
I could see one, and Icould not. But that's a big surprise.
Well, don't worry. Christmas willgo on as planned, thank god.
(07:19):
After a pair of reindeer were reunitedwith Santa Claus, he shut down
if they if you reindeer disappear, that's it. Well, how is he
supposed to operate his sleigh? Danny? You know we could figure let's let
Rudolf. Rudolph. Rudolf could pullthe day through, no problem. He's
a hero. But you need theBlitzen and vander Donder and I'm going Donner,
(07:42):
Donner and Blitzen. Yeah, I'mgoing for Donner Donner party. Yummy.
Oh the deer and then themselves? So the one would you have to
go without food to you eate aguy? Oh weeks ten minutes a guy
came in the door said, youguys are famished how to eat m right
there. So these two reindeers escapedfrom a Christmas attraction, but thankfully they
(08:05):
have been reunited with Santa and Christmaswill go on as planned. Good.
We need a good Christmas this year. We do. It's time for Today's
things or not right in Florida Storyof the day, yay. A judge's
ordered a Florida man to have nocontact with his wife following his arrest for
striking her in the face with hissausage. And that's illegal. They got
(08:26):
into a verbal altercation. Yeah,he picked up a sausage presumably pork,
and threw it at her. Youknow, if it's come to this where
you can't toss the sausage to thewife, well it's not worth living.
Really. Cops indicated alcohol may havebeen a factor, baby shocking, Lucky
it wasn't meth. She'd lost aneye. Oh Florida, Oh Florida,
(08:50):
Al Florida. This is brought toyou by Union Gospel Mission. On the
show this morning, we have gotlots of tickets for you to win.
Journey, def Leopard and are allon the same bill. That's one show.
All of those bands are a sellout. Actually, yes, that's going
to be epic. We've also gottickets to see Trevor Noah. You can
win all of that from one oftwo point five KZ okay, the classic
(09:11):
rock station now Sarah with music,Sports, and entertainment. The biggest news
from the world of entertainment happened momentsago when Danny Bonaducci made an announcement that
he is retiring. We're retiring aftertwelve years here on CAZy Okay. But
it's not just And here's the reasonI got. I got real sick,
and I mean real sick. Idon't remember a lot of it, but
I was given pictures. But youknow, I've been in an entertainment industry
(09:35):
for sixty years. I'm sixty fourand I've either been working or looking for
work, and looking for work isharder for sixty years, and you know
I got sick. I got topay attention to that. I got to
take care of my wife. Soyes, I am retiring. Well,
let me ask you this, whatwould you say was a standout moment from
movies or television that you've done well? Got to you know, you gotta
stay. The party. Shower hasa really big deal for I mean people
(09:56):
still come to on the street andsay, hey, aren't you that guy?
So that? But the movie withElvis, when I tell people what
I have done and I say,oh, yeah, well I did a
movie with Elvis. That's the onethat stops the car. Elvis. Who
can say that? I mean, very very few people and Margaret can say
it, you know, and Margaretand I are type Well, Danny,
obviously you will be missed. Thepast twelve years with you have have been
(10:20):
just it's something fresh and new everyday and you're just an incredible individual.
And I have loved working with you. Well, fresh and new every single
day. And that's the high pointof schizophrenia. Chevy Chase started off his
holiday season with a tumble. Theactor was filmed falling off stage during a
Christmas vacation event. He was rolledout on stage in a wheelchair, but
(10:43):
stood up and started walking before suddenlydipping out of sight. He stepped right
off the stage. Now his wifehelped him back up on the stage,
and then the whole room laughed becausehis smart watch went, you have fallen.
Oh that's cool. He's an olddude right now. Yeah, he's
like eighty and eighty. I thinkhe's like eighty. But I mean it
(11:05):
didn't look fake to me. Youknow, that's sort of like you do.
Because I don't know if you knowthis or not. But he made
his living why he is famous forseveral years. No, maybe it went
for one year. But what hedid on Saturday Live is he fall in
the opening and in segments that washis thing. He'd fall down. He
complains about his bad back from fallingdown. How can we find out if
this is real or not? Okay, first of all, I did not
(11:26):
know that. Yeah, no,every single episode we would fall down.
Man, the biggest one for peopleout there living go We'll say, oh
yeah. One time. I thinkit might have been a Christmas show.
He was climbing up the ladder, got to the top of the tree and
then fell off the thing. Andthat's what chevy Chase did. Or does.
I hope that you're onto something andthat this was all like staged,
because otherwise we know eighty. Hemight be on his way to the hospital
(11:48):
right now, and I'm going tosay, up all nine long, chevy
Chase is hurt. Yeah, hedoesn't seem like he's a very good dude.
I think he's a bad dude,I don't know about the beginning.
Although he left the Saturday Life afterone year and people said, come on
stay and let the show be ahit, and he said, no,
I'm a movie star. Oh wow, yeah, So did he take a
fall or a falla? La lala, la la la. You're gonna
(12:11):
give him that. So you're gonnagive him that. Oh that was the
laugh of sympathy. You have togo, hey, you know, it's
the Christmas season. Maybe it wasfun. Then you can just get start
singing. I'm in a singing move. Jeez awesome, let's go. The
new year will bring us a chanceto reunite with some old pals from the
Korean War kind of. The survivingcast of the legendary hit show Mash is
(12:37):
set for a reunion no way, forty years after it went off the air,
right right, Alan Alda, GaryBerghoff, Jamie Farr will all be
taking part on this. It's aFox special set for January first. How
many of those people can you nametheir character? Uh? Hawkeye? Yes,
that's about it for me. Theradar radar that was I did a
(13:01):
telephone with the guy really plays drumslike a maniac. I didn't know that
that's cool. Yeah, it iscool. Well, let's take a look
at sports. Sports sport. It'sbrought to you by Bradley Johnson Lawyers.
Facing a DUI call one eight hundredd uy away? Well find eight hundred
you why away? Oh, toughloss for your Seattle Seahawks. Yesterday I
lost to San Francisco. Drew Lockestarted out, look looked all right,
(13:24):
and I just couldn't get it donein the end. Up next another tough
one Monday Night football against the Eagles. Last night Sunday Night Football, a
big win for Dallas. Eagles notlooking so hot, which is great news
for the Seahawks. Thirty three thirteenwin Dallas over the Eagles. Monday Night
football. Tonight we have got GreenBay at Dallas five fifteen Star time and
(13:48):
another loss for the Crack and overthe weekend. Up next tomorrow night here
in Seattle, they'll be playing Floridaat seven. You can listen to all
the action on our sister station ninetythree point three KJRF release the Crack and
college basketball. This weekend, Washingtonbeat eighth ranked Gonzaga. Wooo, what
a surprise there. Gonzaga is playingMississippi Valley State. Next at six o'clock
(14:13):
tonight You Dub versus Seattle. YouSunday at five show Hey the Money Show.
Hey Otani agreed to a record sevenhundred million ten year contract with the
Dodgers over the weekend. That's right, seven hundred million ten year contract with
the Dodgers. I wish I wrotedown with the stat was, but it's
(14:35):
something insane like for every day heearns like one hundred thousand dollars. That's
just an insane sum of money. And as a reminder, he can't even
pitch this upcoming season. He mightnot pitch again. That's very true.
And so you're paying for his batwhich granted is great, but can you
(14:56):
stay healthy? We'll see sports broughtyou by Bradley Johnson Lawyers. Facing a
Dui call one eight hundred d uyaway, Oh, mondays, I love
this part of the show. Oh, it's the Book of Bona Ducci.
This time Danny is going head tohead with Kurt Russell, but Kurt has
a loaded shotgun. Who wins thisone? Who will find out? Danny
tells us the entire story. It'safter the Scorpions on one or two point
(15:20):
five KZ ok be Classic Rock Stationone or two point five kazy okay,
the classic Rock station. Now astory from the Book of Bona Ducci.
Well, as that big voice said, it is time for another book of
Bonna Ducci. Now I try andpick these out, you know, pretty
carefully for you guys, because ithas my name on the title, the
Book of Bonaducci, and I wantto entertain you. So I'm gonna tell
(15:43):
you a Book of Bonacocci story rightnow. It's kind of interesting because it's
the first time in show business Ihave ever had a face off, if
you will, face off with anotherex child star. It was just never
been done. Now it's been donea bunch times since, but this was
the first time and I didn't putit together. Comp The other ex child
star that wasn't me was pointing ashotgun at my face and his name was
(16:06):
Kurt Russell. So I'm doing ashow called Police Story back buss, No,
not that one. This Police Storyis an Emmy Award winning serious drama,
police drama if you will, AndI'm on and I don't know how
I'm on it because it's on.I looked it up. This happens in
nineteen seventy five. I'm fifteen innineteen seventy five. To hire a fifteen
(16:30):
year old, you have to havea welfare worker and nurse. A school
teacher. Costs tens of thousands ofdollars to hire a kid. What you
want to do is you want tohire somebody eighteen that looks like a kid.
But for some reason they gave methe job of ass please if they
do it. So there's an actorcalled klu Guliger, and it's who I
happen to really like. And thenKurt Russell, who the importance of him
(16:51):
is not really dawned on me yet. But he pointed this frigging shotgun right
at my face, and maybe Ishould read the script because all of a
sudden somebody else don't do it,and he shoots me with both barrels of
a shotgun. That's not the wayto start a relationship. But I don't
think that that's the most important thingor book of Bonaducci ish that there is.
There's another character on the show andhe's the leader of our gang.
(17:12):
We're doing a scene together, right, and we're bad. We're the gangsters.
We don't even know what to dowith our time. We're gonna set
your house on fire. Look atus go. So we're doing a scene
where he says, show me you'renot the police. Smoke this joint and
I say no, no, Iwon't. And then he punches me in
the face and I fall down thestairs and he comes chasing me down the
(17:33):
stairs and he's got this joint andhe says, smoke it, and I
said no, and he puts itout on my face. Now here's the
thing. There's people that can dothat for a living. I'm fifteen.
Whatever you've got, don't put iton my face. We now close the
book for another week. This hasbeen the book of Bonaducci on the classic
rock station one O two point fiveCAZy Okay, Yeah, minutes away from
(17:59):
a chance to put Smartacus win yourway into def Leppard and Journey September fourth
at te Mobile Park. But nowit's the Danny Bodouci and Sarah Question of
the day. You can call useight hundred two five two one oh two
five answer on our social media,Tell Alexa, send a talk back to
Kzy. Okay, this one isa big deal. Just in case you
hadn't heard. After twelve years ofgracing the airwaves here in Seattle and many
(18:22):
more broadcasting around the country. Dannyhas announced he is retiring from radio.
Danny will leave the show at theend of the week, of course,
be missed by everybody. Danny,I'm damn right, I'm staying right here,
but I am heartbroken that you areleaving. I'm sorry, but it's
about that time. Well, weare asking you guys to share your favorite
memory of Danny's time here on CAZyOkay. Now, Danny, I know
(18:42):
you've got a lot of memories. What would you say is your favorite?
This is sooey. It was oneof the greatest days of my life,
the day I raised the flag ontop of the space and you go,
oh, wait, you rat Bassardsnever asked me to do that. Wow.
You know that we can still tryto make that happened post retirement,
Danny, I'm mad. Now.I gotta say. I have so many
(19:06):
absolutely great memories. But one ofthem was when we first got here to
Seattle and you showed up to KzyOkay with a motorcycle jacket with the entire
logo of CAZy ok and the letterson the back of the jacket. Really,
I didn't know that was that bigof a deal. Although I thought,
you know, this jacket's going tokeep me in that job forever.
It was such a cool jacket, and I all right, I got another
(19:27):
one. My second was when yougot the entire Seattle skyline tattooed on your
back. Oh my god. Well, you know what I will keep this
for. Yes, I am retiring, but I will always have Seattle with
me. We want to know whatis your favorite memory of Danny's time here
on kz okay. It's the DannyBodaducci and Sarah Question of the Day on
two five kz ok at the classicrock station.
