(00:00):
No, Sarah, what the newsnews is brought to you by Union Gospel
Mission. Well, of course, what everybody has been talking about all morning
was your very surprise announcement, Dannythat you are retiring. Yeah, as
I said, that time has comeand I gotta do I get you know,
I got a wife, I hada family to take care of,
and I got really sick for agood portion of the year. But you

(00:22):
are in good health now. Absolutely, I feel one hundred percent. I
walked two miles a day minimum ofmy eye. I really looked after my
health. That's awesome. I mean, thank you. Of course, we
were worried about you when we couldn'tfigure out what was wrong and you had
the balance issues, and then youwent and got a shunt, and next
thing we know, you are likefrolicking and running around Green Lake again,
like the good old Danny Bonaducci.Well not exactly running, but you're right.

(00:43):
I mean that those are like twomaybe three miles at a time.
And you know what, I lovemy walks, I really really do.
And you've loved your time here onKZY. Okay, we've been here together
twelve years, but we've been togethermaybe fifteen sixteen years because we were in
Philadelphia first. This is a goodrun. This is you know, I've
had they didn't last this long. And I've had lots of marriages. Yeah,
you and I have been together longerthan I have been married to Matt.

(01:06):
Oh, for sure. I rememberwhen you're married that guy. Yeah.
Well, Danny will be here allweek long. And it is about
a celebration of Danny and his choiceto retire. And you know, Danny,
no one's going to knock you forthat. Retirement is something you work
towards, right right, I'm sixtyfour, and you know that's about the
time people retire. Yeah, Imean and bless you, and we certainly
hope that you enjoy your retirement. And it has been an absolute pleasure working

(01:30):
with you, my friend. Well, you're very sweet that you and the
same to you, my dear. The US Postal Service has announced shipping deadlines
for packages to arrive by Christmas,So if you're sending something for like regular
five day shipping, you better getit in the mail by December sixteenth,
Danny, it will get there byChristmas. Yes, So Danny, if
you want to send me Waldo Paul, the bosses are Christmas presents. These

(01:52):
are your cutoff dates. You know. I don't usually send the bosses presence.
I don't either. I read anarticle. They don't. They think
you're sucking up. They don't care. I've got I got an eye on.
You're a gift, all right,So you're gonna give it to me
in person on Friday? Yes,I am all right, Danny. You
know what goldfish are the same thatgiant guy sticks his whole end and says
thank you to his little buddy.I have no idea what that means.

(02:15):
That means exactly what a selling Andas I started to describe it, what
if nobody cares? It's a commercialwith some giant guy. I assume he's
an athlete of some kind and hesticks his hand and it rips the whole
box up in the floor. Okay, I got you. Now, Bowban?
Who is he? Bowban? BobDanovich? Is he just a giant
or is he famous for something?NBA player? I thought maybe? Okay,

(02:38):
First of all, I thought youwere talking about something having to do
with fishing, And yes, Ihave seen that commercial, So that's my
bad. That's hilarious. But soyou know what goldfish are by definition?
They are what they're goldfish snacks. They're crackers, Yeah, they're crackers.
Now they're coming out with potato chips. Ooh, that's kind of a good
idea. They're calling them goldfish crispsand they're gonna be so cream and onion,

(03:00):
cheddar, salt and vinegar. Startingon the fifteenth, you can buy
them goldfish crisps. So basically thecrackers are now potato chips. What are
they bridge British people? Yeah, good point, good point. What do
the British people called potato chips crisps? Rat bastards? I don't even know
what's going on anymore. And thenthey call cookies biscuits, yeah, because
they're crazy and they're British weird andbad teeth. Now Waldo has started using

(03:23):
a britishism, which I'm kind ofkilling him for. When somebody is kind
of babbling and stalling for time, which is what he likes to do.
What's it called Waldo waffle? Whatyou're waffling? So for us here,
like waffling means kind of going backand forth, not making up your mind,
right, Apparently a britishism means wafflingas you're just sort of babbling and
talking a whole lot. The firstperson that cuts me off and says I'm

(03:46):
waffling, I'm gonna punch them rightin the nesh, well, I will
accept I will accept it. Iwaffle quite a bit all month long.
I am making delicious cocktails featuring dramBooie Danny. Do you remember the Rusty
Nail? That was a very bigcocktail, like in the fifties and sixties,
and it was super popular even upinto the seventies. It's a serious

(04:06):
classic. You can follow me onsocial media. I am at Sarah Kazy
Okay, watch my video on Instagramand Facebook, or go to kzoka dot
com slash spirits twenty one and over, and of course, please drink Grandbower
responsibly. You know, when Iwent to American bartender school, that's a
real thing. I went to that. Dram Boe turned out to be a
pretty often used ingredient. It's reallydelicious. It's a whiskey liqueur. Yes

(04:28):
it is. Now, when yougo to Aikea, you know you're going
to be buying furniture that's going tofrustrate you when you get it home.
That's mostly right. Mostly I'm gonnafrustrated because Amy isn't doing it fast enough.
And you know when you go toIkea, you gotta be careful not
to get lost. Yeah, wellyou follow the footprints, yes, But
what else is something that you dowhen you go to Ikea? I say,
come on, can we need youeat the meatballs? Oh? You

(04:50):
do eat the meatballs and they're good. Now, Ikea is coming out with
a very special meatball, just intime for Christmas. It's the size of
a turkey. A meatball the sizeof a turkey? Yes, do you
want any cow? How many cowsthey had to kill to get that little
chroken thing in there? I thoughtyou're gonna say how many calories they had
to eat? Oh? Man,you have to kill a cow if you're

(05:10):
gonna eat that much beef. Welcomedangerous Danny Bonaducci. Today we're talking to
Danny Bonaducci. A lot of youhave lived with hey Danny, or you're
living with one. Now. There'snot much more Danny can do to surprise
us. But leave it to Dannyto reinvent himself once again. Danny Bonaducci,

(05:33):
former star of the Partridge Family andnow local DJ right here in Seattle,
Danny Bonaducci morning show hosts one Otwo point five kz okay like,
who's making biscuits? And Donny He'slike, it's me. This is the
Danny Bonaducci Show, Danny Bana Ducci'sall Rocket Locaducci. Yeah. Well,

(06:20):
the time has come. I havesomething kind of important to tell you guys,
and that is I'm retiring this Friday. And I will also tell you
this. I wrote up a bigthank you and goodbye and all that stuff.
And I'll tell you what, ifyou're not doing anything important, bet
the person next to you five buckson whether I cry or not, because
there's some deep stuff. Man.Anyway, I've had a really nice run

(06:43):
in Seattle twelve years. If youmust know, I've had a great listen
runner with all you guys have beengreat. I'll name a coup over here.
We go Andy in Tacoma and hisfamous punkin pie farmer Ted and his
lovely wife Shannon double d Yo andAnya from Olympia. They would drive up
if we were doing something. Theywould open drive up from Olympia. That's
a really big deal for me.Oh my goodness, Grace, and don't
forget door Reese in Chicago everybody lovesDoriese, including me, Tony Incapausen,

(07:09):
Lenny, Mike and Sulton, Sharonand Joad who call up every Friday with
the very best jokes. And whoeverthe hell gave me a brand new airfire.
I love it and thank you verymuch. If I'm forgetting at and
by the way, I'm sorry, but there are thousands of listeners to this
show, and this is a reallyimportant moment in my life, and I'm
a little bit nervous. So I'vehad so many incredible times here in Seattle
with Kazy Okay. I remember mysixtieth birthday party at Tmobile Park. You

(07:32):
guys showed up. Man, youwere awesome, and these things happened like
before Dawn Shandler's Crabouse. Remember thatit was a live broadcast. You guys
came in the dark for me andI really appre well for us, really
but anyway, pretty amazing. Youguys delivered every single year the annual Christmas
Toy Drive at Tacoma Donge with PhilBibbins. I've learned so much from you
guys, Like I know what agooey duck is now they look like a

(07:54):
wiener. That was a shock tome. I saw Wales, it would
be Island. I had oysters atShaga nut D saw a coldplay, a
climate pledg Arena. I see thefireworks who off every year of the space
needle from my living room. Howamazing is that? A lot of you
may have seen this coming. Youknow. I was off the air for
almost a year and I was reallyreally sick. And I don't know the
legal stuff on this, but ifI were iHeart, i'd have fired me

(08:16):
about three months in. Are youkidding me? So? Thank you very
much the iyur guys that didn't fireme. I want to thank you guys
out there in radio and for stickingby me for sixty years. Adds right,
I said sixty years. I didmy first professional gig in television when
I was four. I'm sixty four. That's sixty years. It's unbelievable.
The entertainment business is not always kindto people who want to make their dreams

(08:39):
come true. So I really wantto thank you people that made my dreams
come true. This is it,and my dreams aren't over. For God's
sakes, I still have dreams.I'm going to retire. I'm probably going
to go down to Palm Springs. That's why I've been spending so much time
there. I want to be warmbefore I die. Sarah, You've been
nothing short of amazing. You've beena great partner these past twelve years and
before that when we worked in Philly. The next guy to gain this share

(09:00):
is going to be the luckiest personin the world. And thank you my
agent. That sounds weird, buthe got me this job. My agent
and my very good friend Paul Anderson. We've been together for more than two
decades. I haven't even had amarriage that last long, and I've had
three of them puppies. Thank youvery much too. My producers. That
would be Paul and Waldo, who, by the way, the show would
not sell anything like the show withoutthose guys. And most importantly, I
would not be here today if itweren't for my partner in life, and

(09:24):
that would be the lovely and talentedAmy as the luckiest guy in the world
when she agreed to marry me andbe my wife. And wow, Amy,
if you're listening any better being listenings, you're sitting right next to me.
Amy, You're a rock man.I love you from the moon and
back again. If you bet fivebucks earlier in the show and whether or
not I was going to cry andyou said yes. Well, about five
minutes ago you started winning. Sothank you very much from the bottom of
my heart. And finally, Ilook forward to being here all week to

(09:46):
celebrate my retirement with you. Now, Sarah with Music and Entertainment News screen
Day. We'll be ringing in twentytwenty four from Times Square in New York
City, New York City, There'llbe performing on Dick Clark's New Year's Rock
and Eve, which all their youngdrug addicts. Did anybody tell them Dick
is dead? How old? Iwant a T shirt? This is Dick

(10:07):
is dead. First of all, they're not young, and second of all,
they are not drug addicts. They'renot green. Are in their fifties.
What's the point of being a rockstar? I go to take rugs
and sleep with loose women? Nowyou know, New Year's Eve falls on
December thirty, first yep where itis. They'll be playing Basketcase, Welcome
to Paradise Holiday and their new singleDilemma. The broadcast is on ABC.

(10:30):
And even though it's Ryan Seacrest,I think it's pretty nice that they kept
the Dick Clark name me too.I thought that was a great gestion.
Yeah, the movie about University ofWashington's rowing team and their journey to the
Olympics is set to hit theaters thisChristmas. Is that the Boys in the
Boat? That is the Boys inthe Boat. I did not know that
was about you, Dub And howcool is that? Okay, I didn't

(10:52):
know it's about you. You justsaid it right now. It's about the
nineteen thirty six rowing team and theirjourney as they competed for gold at the
Berlin Summer Olympics. So the KingCounty Council has declared December twenty fifth through
the thirty first as Boys in theBoat week. Nice, very nice,
pretty cool. I feel like KennyLoggins can make a great song for that,
you know what. You might beright, that guy to make a

(11:13):
great song about most anything, butthat would be great. River to the
danger Zone. I'm gonna make youstick by that. Well. The big
news from the world of entertainment newshappened at about six oh five this morning
when Danny you announced what my retirementI gotta do it? Just absolutely wild

(11:33):
after twelve years here on Kazy Okay, twelve years here in the city of
Seattle, Danny are making the choiceto step away. Well, I feel
like the choice was made for mewhen I got sick. I got really
sick. Everybody loves tell me thestories. You don't know how close you
are to death? Well I don'tactually, because I slept for most of
my hospitalization. But you know Ididn't see it coming last time. I

(11:54):
don't want to see not see itcoming this time. I want to hold
my wife's hand and take long walksand all of that stuff. So you
know, I gotta go rest up. I have an appointment with a brain
doctor right after the show. Togoodness. Yeah, well, I know
everybody here at iHeart and me personally, our producer Paul and Waldo, we
have all tried to talk you intostaying, but perfectly understand wanting to retire

(12:15):
at age sixty four and go andenjoy yourself. That's exactly what I'm gonna
do. That's exact I'm going togo to Palm Springs and buy a house
with the pool. Are you kidding? Oh? Can I get one of
those like giant unicorns that float andI'll come and hang out. Yes,
you certainly know. Awesome all right, Well, coming up next it is
Danny Bonaducci Life Coach. Yeah,he's not walking away from that. Danny
will be here up until Friday. So next, Brittany in Seattle wants to

(12:37):
talk with you. She says shehas a nosy and intrusive neighbor who drives
her nuts. A lady lives byherself and is probably lonely, but Brittany
wants her privacy. She wants someadvice from you, Danny, on what
to do. Done, all right, Danny will take her call next on
one of two point five kz okay, the classic rock station, Danny Bonaducci
Live Coach. That's right, it'stime for Danny Bonaducci Life Coach. Bonaducci

(12:58):
is in. He is here tosave lives, one question at a time.
Whatever your problem, and if youwant to be part of Life Coach,
just email us at Life Coach atkzoka dot com. Here's Brittany in
Seattle. Hey Brittany, Hi,how are you? I'm very well.
What can Life Coach do for youtoday? Okay? So I am wondering

(13:18):
how I should deal with a supernice but a really nosy neighbor. So
to give you a little bit ofthe backstory. I live in an apartment.
I don't want to move obviously,it's expensive everywhere, so I want
to be locked into my leaf anda huge asshole totally. But I feel
like my neighbor is always watching myboyfriend and I and talks our ear off.

(13:41):
I mean, if I see herin our building gym or our rooftop
patio, she just talks and talksand talks. She never stops. And
my boyfriend says that maybe she isjust lonely. But you know, I
want some privacy. So I don'tknow. What do you think about this
life? Coach, Here's what Ithink you should do all the time.
Either have earbuds in or you haveyour cell phone with you, one of

(14:05):
those you know, you go andyou start pointing at your phone, like,
oh is my mom? What isshe going to do? But what
does she want to talk to youabout? I mean anything? Sometimes she
wants to gossip about, you know, another neighbor, about guests that they've
had over, or you know, the way that they're parking their cars,
I mean, or she just wantsto talk about, you know, the
weather. But I mean, itcould be anything. Any given day,

(14:26):
it's something different. Well, youin a way you feel flattered doing I
think this lady really wants to talkto you. I mean, I do
think that it's nice. It's definitelynice, and I think she probably is
a bit lonely. But you know, it's okay once in a while.
But every time I see her,I get roped into, you know,
all fifteen twenty minute conversation and Ijust don't have time for it. So

(14:48):
I do like the idea of keepingmy phone with me so I can pretend
that somebody's calling. If you're anythinglike me, you always have a cell
phone with you. I do,no matter where I go. And matter
of fact, what's another's noise? But what that is? That's my cell
phone? Why? Because I alwayshave it with me. So how old
is she? If you're in theballpark, she is probably mid to late
sixties. No, I'm in mymid sixties. That's not fair. You

(15:09):
can't do that. That one isnot even old yet. No, she's
not old. She's just older thanme, right, And how old are
you I am? I'm late thirties. Okay, Are you telling me the
truth? Are you lying to me? You sound like you're lying. I'm
telling you the truth. I'm tellingyou the truth. Do you feel bad
for this woman? I don't thinkI feel bad for her now. She

(15:33):
seems like she definitely has no problemapproaching people to talk to, so I
don't think she You know, isthat hard up for somebody to talk to?
The answer is earbuds your cell phoneand you're always busy and don't even
have to say hi. You justgive the look at your phone, point
at it, and then roll yourlike, oh man, I got to
take this and go off, andthat old lady or young lady younger than
me lady will take off with you. Nobody wants to interrupt somebody on a

(15:56):
cell phone. Yeah, okay, that's all a bad idea. None of
my ideas are bad ideas. Allright, I'll talk to you very soon.
Thanks you go on, Life Coach. Thank you. That's going to
do it for Danny Bonaducci Life Coach. If you want to reach him,
it's Life Coach at Kazoka dot com. It's the Danny Bonaducci and Sarah Question

when we first got here to Seattleand you showed up to CAZy Okay with

wants to share about TikTok. Whatdoes he think? Does he love it?

(22:15):
Does he hate it? Is headdicted? We'll find out with Danny
Bonaducci's take next on one of twopoint five k's okay, the classic rock
station one O two point five kzokay a classic rock station. Sure,
I saw some red flags the DannyBonaducci and Sarah Morning Show. He's weir,
he's a nerve. Here's Danny Bonaducci'stake. Here's my take on TikTok.

(22:37):
First of all, take my advice, and that is, never ever
ever download that app in the firstplace. You waste endless amounts of time
on it, but once you're there, I have found that you can actually
learn a lot of stuff from TikTok. For example, I recently saw a
video where growing into olive Garden, one of my favorite places, and just
ask the server, hey, man, can I buy that cool cheese greater

(22:59):
thing right there in your hand? And the lady said, yeah, apparently
you can buy most everything, includingfood and olive garden. Very cool.
I learned that the numbers on thetoaster tell you the amount of minutes it's
in there, not the level oftoastiness. Man, I thought that for
years. I learned skincare routines, dance for change, you remember this one
fancy like Applebee's up in a datenight. I had so much fun with

(23:21):
it. I learned recipes and howto spend the perfect day in Seattle.
The options are endless, and nowI fully have add And that's my take
on TikTok one two point five caseyOkaye No, the Classic rock Update.
It's Paul In this update. It'sbrought to you by the Sunset Auto Family
and Sumner and Auburn. You justget more at Sunset and people do like

(23:41):
that. Beat Townsend says he andRoger Daltree will have to talk about what
happens next for the Who, atthe age of seventy eighties starting to wonder
if touring might just be over inthe history of rock. In nineteen sixty
eight, The Rolling Stones started recordingRock and Roll Circus, which included John
and Yoko, The Who, EricClapton, I Throw a Toll, along
with Clouds and acrobats. The film, however, would not be released until

(24:03):
nineteen ninety six. In nineteen seventysix, Kiss guitar says Freely is nearly
electrocuted during a concert in Florida whenhe touches a short circuited light. And
in twenty sixteen, Bob Dylan saidit was truly beyond words to receive the
Nobel Prize for Literature. He saidhe thought his odds of winning were as
likely as him standing on the moon. For more in phone videos, go

New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
