Speaker 1 (00:01):
Lady Bosses and then and I Heart Radio podcast. Well,
she's an actress. She is probably most well known for
being a Sports Illustrated cover model. She's multifaceted and very talented.
Currently on Grace and Frankie on Netflix. Brooklyn, are you
out there? Hi? Hi? So, first of all, how would

(00:25):
we know you? Brooklyn? Well, Um, I have done a
lot of things. UM, I changed careers all the time.
I started as a model many many years ago, and
UM transitioned into acting just to really, you know, become
the true cliches that I always wanted to beat. And
then most recently, UM, I started a tech company with

(00:45):
one of my dear friends, Binary dot com, and we
launched about a year ago. And yeah, so I'm Monitory
Grace and Brinkie and UM currently co founder of Binary.
And you just raised five million dollars. We did congrat December.
And I have a question because I just went through this, UM,
and I'm sure Ben you can relate. Um, I was
pregnant while fundraising. Yes, I know you were. I think

(01:09):
we're actually at the exacting stages while you were closing.
I don't know what you just see, but I actually
found it to be a huge asset because as you know,
like people little postpone meetings or they'll last one of cancelations,
and so we're able to stay to someone I am
going to have a baby coming out of my body
in two weeks, so we have to have this meeting. Now.

(01:30):
There was no messing around, like we got into everyone
we wanted to get into because they knew they couldn't
mess off our schedules and so it actually was like
a huge gift with some crazy to leverage your onboard babies.
But I totally did persist the fundraising. That is amazing
because I felt like I always kind of struggled with
you know, do I need to hide it? Like do
I need to hide it in some rooms? Yeah, And

(01:51):
it was such a hard thing. And then at a
certain point you can't you know, why did you feel
like you had hide it? I don't know, because I
was asking people to bet on me as a business
and then so so you just didn't feel that way.
You turned it into such a positive I did, and frankly,
you know, I think, well, benefiting now from through years

(02:13):
of business in horrible like you're just gonna be establishment being.
I mean, you know, it stacked again sort of seeing
entrepreneurs they think like, really, now more than ever, it's
such an exciting time for a woman in business because
there are so many people who are recognizing that women
have to spending power in the household in eight percent
of the household spending decision and thing that female run

(02:35):
and female stud companies are actually taking a lot of that.
So you have a lot of these as you know
who are really and this is what you're all about,
were to long stores to tell them like what's next
to what's the next big thing? And so reasseel it
right now? Really benefiting from years of women for laying
the groundwork ahead of us. And so when I went
into pregnant, I felt like a lot of these sees

(02:57):
saw it an opportunity to invest in not only you know,
a mom, a female run company that was providing a
service to women. So tell us about that service. When
you think about what iTunes was before we really had
all of our music digitally, it was this completely innovative idea,
the idea of having your entire speed collection. We can

(03:18):
all remember, at least I know the three of us,
can I know how old we are? We can remember
having those steed books in our cars, right, and like
sex the CDs in our houses. All of a sudden
it was all on our phone and it was just
like concept that none of us could really repreheads around.
But now we look back and were like, how did
I not have everything right here in front of me?
And you look at closing it's the positive, the second

(03:40):
re rival room in the hall behind the garage. And
when little more money on their polism in their education,
and so why is that not fully automated? Why is
managing your wardrobe not a steamless process than our lives?
And so Finary has done that. We have patented our
technology UM and we can automatically um your wardrode everything
you purchase online manually. Usually I had anything he's botten

(04:02):
store onto a platform essentially is what iTunes like from
like many years ago? In your opinion, what is the
future of finery? The future of finery? Yeah, were you
taking this? How's this app gonna look in five years?
I hope it's somewhere with a billion in it the
same here. I hope there's a big be behind it.
So we think about the full life cycle of the wardrobe.

(04:23):
You think about your intensive purchase. We have to wishles.
You think about your your actual wardrobe, we have that.
Now think about it. We're now offering styling and our
new apps and make Truly, when you think about you know,
women only weary of their wardrobes. Percent of it goes
on warm. When you think about actually being finished with
an item, and millennials only were closing. Guys, this is
crazy four to five times before they get rid of it.

(04:45):
But how many times do you wear clothes? Me? Yeah,
I don't know. We're talking about me for a second,
and this is gonna be embarrassing because I know you
both are gonna let this T shirt I'm wearing right now,
I'm ready. I've owned it for two weeks. I bet
I have worn it ten times. I love it. I
love it because you know, um, I think you know

(05:06):
everyone knows you as this fashion icon. And it's really
cool because you're running you're running a data company essentially,
we are we are. I mean, it's it's very tech heavy.
My co founder Whitney and I we always say were
the only two that can't code in the company. Um,
it's very tech savvy. And you know it's interesting, like
why is email free? It's because they're collecting data on

(05:29):
your and when you look across all sides, everyone's collecting
data on you. But where is that data going. It's
never used to serve you, So it's a company is
going to collect your data. For example, we are getting
your clothing online for you, used to serve you. You know,
like we are brand agnostic. We don't partner with brands,
or haven't yet. We might eventually, but we haven't yet.
So way, we're all about being an advocate for the consumer.

(05:49):
Words your note ads on our site. We're not telling
you anything. You know, the idea that your data is
available and people are collecting it, it should be working
for you. You can to help you get trust. These
are these who will you have to spend less or
if you're going to spend five to fun fail. The
idea is it's all out there. Make it work for you.
It's yours and it's valuable. Hey, thanks Brooklyn, thank you

(06:09):
so much. Thank you guys think to talk to you
about Thanks Jesse. It's it's actually kind of crazy for
me that I'm talking to Brooklyn Decker about business, because
growing up I thought I would be talking to Brooklyn
Decker about a lot of different things, and business was
not one of these. So smart, She's very smart. But yeah,
I've been a fan of hers for a while. Follow
