Speaker 1 (00:00):
Scrubbing In with Beca Tilly and Tanya rad and iHeartRadio
and two times People's Choice Award winning podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Hello everybody, Happy Thanksgiving.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
Happy Thanksgiving. We're scrubbing in. You've gobbling some turkey down
right now.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
We have so much food today, Like it's going to
be in the kitchen.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Yeah, I'm gonna be I'm gonna be gobble gobble, gobbling.

Speaker 4 (00:31):
Fucking we have so much food right now.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
This very moment, I meant for our Thanksgiving feast?

Speaker 4 (00:40):
What God, what are you providing for the people?

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Because you're hosting so like you have the table, You've
done all the setup, yes.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
But what else?

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Let me tell you a little something about the setup.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
Tell me about the setup.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
We do not have setup for thirty people. No, yeah,
no we don't. So we have to rent every time
we do these types of things. Very normal, I know,
but like not even like the plates or like any
like we don't have any of that stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
So we order all that stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
But then also thinking about all the drinks that you're
gonna have, like we're gonna have sparkling apple cider for
the kids, and like all the like juices and like
getting all that stuff together. And then like all the
autment for like the pies, making sure we have ice
cream and like what is that?

Speaker 2 (01:24):
It's like stuff that goes with things.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Is that right?

Speaker 5 (01:27):
She is correct?

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Like so like we have pumpkin pie, but you can't
have pumpkin pie without vanilla ice cream. Oh, so, like
you know what I mean, like making sure we have
all the little things that we need to go with everything.
And then we did potlock style, so basically everybody's bringing
a dish, and then Robbi and I kind of just
like filled in the holes of what we were missing.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
What holes are you all filling?

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Mashed potatoes stuffing? What that's a big hole? Stuffing and.

Speaker 6 (02:00):
Juice?

Speaker 4 (02:00):
No, those are not holes to fill in. Those are
the main courses.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Yeah, well we just kind of said, like pot luck,
bring whatever you want. So we just let people just
whatever they wanted, their favorites, and then we just kind.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Of yeah, luckily nothing really no repeat, no repeats.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Yeah, we have like a sweet potato cast role, We've
got turkey, We've got rice, persian rice, veggies, grilled veggies, salad,
mac and cheese, a bloody merry bar pot roast, yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Che che Yeah, I guess we're doing the same thing,
like everyone's kind of bringing different things, and.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Then what are you guys doing? Are you doing the turkey?

Speaker 4 (02:37):
I'm doing no.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Well, so Hailey's making a roast, we're doing her sister's
doing a turkey, and then Hailey's doing like a pot roast.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
Yeah, and then I'm doing sweet potato cast roll and
then I provide it.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
So I didn't hear you list rolls or bread, y'all
don't do rolls or bread.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Oh my mom is making like a Serbian.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Bread basically, okay, So it's like it's almost like a
little croissant, but it's not even like a cross.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
And then there's cheese inside and some of them have
meat inside.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
Oh delicious.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
So Hailey's family never had bread like rolls or anything,
no bread dish, and that was my favorite part of
the meal growing up because I would dip the.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
Roll in the mask.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
So one year I was like, do you think it's
okay if I just bring some rolls for the for everyone?

Speaker 4 (03:22):
And Haley's like, yeah, of course, And her brother was like, Becca,
this is a great addition.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
This really adds And I was like, I'm so happy
to bring this to you. So I provide the rolls
for bread, and then I do slee potato crass roll
and then Haley does is doing roast, and then she
makes a cranberry sauce.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Yes, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
So I should probably get those ingredients today.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Yes, yes, that's the whole thing, like it's like.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
And then we also have like his dad's making grablocks,
like homemade grab blocks.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
I don't know what that is.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
It's like salmon. It's it's like.

Speaker 5 (04:00):
It's actually the official grab box. It's a Nordic dish
consisting of salmon that is cured using imix of salt, sugar,
and dill.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Yeah, it's like locks.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
Oh okay, it's basically just like locks. Gotcha.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
And then we have a charcooterie board and lots of dessert.
So oh, I can actually say it now because it's
not spoiler because we didn't want to spoiler for our guests.
But we took this photo of the first Thanksgiving and
we put all of our family spaces on top of
the people at the in the photo, so we like

(04:35):
photoshopped all of our faces onto it.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
Really funny.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
Wow, So it's a surprise, and so we put it
on a cake. So everybody will like see their their
faces around like our and we put like the Yadagar's
first Thanksgiving.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
So it's like, oh, that's cute.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
That's a very couple. Yeah, how exciting.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Yeah, it's cute.

Speaker 4 (04:53):
It's really funny. What are y'all doing? Easton?

Speaker 5 (04:55):
We go up to uh in northern California, where my
parents are and where we spend things, even with my
mom's side of the family. It's really big. And we
rented out the community center, oh Gustine, California, and we'll
be hanging out there and we don't bring a dang thing.
Sometimes we bring a dessert, Allison and I. But because
we're coming from La we get to be like the

(05:17):
Hollywood people that don't Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
What would you bring, like if something goes on a plane,
like yeah, maybe rolls.

Speaker 5 (05:26):
Yeah. But we go up like a few days before
and hang out with my mom and stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
It's all fun.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
You know what this makes me like think of though
back in the day, like my parents just would do Thanksgiving,
like they would just make everything themselves, no pot luck,
Like are we weaker as a generation?

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Like I mean, yes, okay.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
All around, all right, yes, Well, growing up was so
funny for me because unless we went to our extended
family Thanksgiving, we didn't really like the true Thanksgiving food
like as kids, so my parents would just make what
we liked, like it would be like a meal that
we didn't eat a lot, but something that we loved,

(06:10):
and that would be our Thanksgiving. So as an adult,
I appreciate Thanksgiving food and I go, I go for it,
you know. But as a kid, I didn't want like
dry turkey or.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
As a kid, there's no better bite than a little
turkey dipped in mashed potatoes dipped in cranberry sauce.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
Yeah, those three together is like dynamic.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Man, It's like getting a rice crispy treat on a Tuesday.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
But you funny enough, I do have to argue that
in terms of turkey, you have to dip it in
something or have great like.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
The moisture oil on top, just.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
Drink it and all. Yeah, Sam, what are you all doing?

Speaker 7 (06:57):
I'm going to my boyfriend's dad's for Thanksgiving this year?

Speaker 4 (07:01):
Is that also in Northern Californa?

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Yes, we actually will be right around the corner we're.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
In moment, head to the community.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Yeah, yeah, Actually I'm gonna invite us right now. I
do love this time of year.

Speaker 4 (07:20):
It's great.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
Yeah, is the best?

Speaker 3 (07:23):
What do you think is the most overrated Thanksgiving food?

Speaker 1 (07:27):
So I have an answer to this, but I feel
like you guys are gonna hate it?

Speaker 4 (07:31):
Should we wait?

Speaker 2 (07:32):
You should break?

Speaker 6 (07:35):
I'm so hungry.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
We're back.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
My least favorite things giving food and something that I
probably will not touch or never put on my plate.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
Me too, Me too?

Speaker 6 (08:07):
WHOA? Like?

Speaker 2 (08:08):
What is it?

Speaker 1 (08:09):
Just stuff like mush stuff like mushed bread bread.

Speaker 5 (08:15):
I didn't get into it until like the last five
or six years, but I love it now.

Speaker 6 (08:19):
What's in it? Though?

Speaker 3 (08:20):
It's like like every time I have it, there's new
ingredients and I'm like, I'm people just going mix.

Speaker 5 (08:29):
It's like wet bread and onions and celery.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Right, guy? Sounds good to me, but I don't know.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
I always put some on my plate and I eat
it to be respectful of whoever brought it. But it's
just not my It's like such a thing that is
hyped up around Thanksgiving that I personally don't feel the
passion for.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
And you know what, I've never tried sweet potato casserole. Wow,
never in my life.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
That's what I make every year. You would love it.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
You're gonna try it.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
My sister in law's sister is that's what she's bringing
to our Thanksgiving.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
So I'm gonna you love the parents.

Speaker 4 (09:06):
Who play from Delilah.

Speaker 6 (09:07):
You're gonna love.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
I love and marshmallows.

Speaker 4 (09:10):
Yeah, you're gonna love it.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
I know it's basically a healthy rice Chrispy treat.

Speaker 4 (09:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
I know, I'm like shocked.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
I haven't, but it's like, never been at my Thanksgiving table.
It was never an option.

Speaker 4 (09:19):
Wow, I'm so happy you're going to try it this year.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 4 (09:22):
I really load on the marshmallows.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
Like I think some people are like, oh, it's.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
Really good, and they're probably just like so yeah, but
I love it. What is Are you gonna drink? Are
you going to be drinking or drinking?

Speaker 2 (09:36):
I think I'm gonna be dry dry. I think we'll see.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
Okay, what would you drink if you had to drink?

Speaker 1 (09:42):
I like to enjoy wine on Thanksgiving? Nothing like read hard,
probably red a little red with the turkey.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
Yeah he's right. Do you all have?

Speaker 3 (09:51):
I just you know, nothing's better to me with Thanksgiving food.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
Minnesota. The salt washed down.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Not do you know what's so funny?

Speaker 6 (10:07):
Though?

Speaker 1 (10:07):
When I'm craving like I like on Sunday at Sabrina's concert,
I was craving a ginger ale, Like all I wanted
was a ginger ale, insane And when that craving hits me,
there's nothing that tastes better.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
Yeah, so I understand.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
Yeah, well, a ginger ale on a plane with pretzels,
it's delightful.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
I drink a lot of ginger ales on planes too, Yeah,
to calm my system.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
Why did it ca your system? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (10:34):
Because you get NASA on planes? Oh oh yeah yeah yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
Sh we talk about what you sent me when you
were arrived at my home for those Sabrina Carpenter concerts.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
So I when the weather is rainy and cold, I no,
that's actually false.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
I et this all the time.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
What's happening.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
I had a dinner that just like wasn't sitting in
my stomach right, and like I drove to Becca's house,
and Becka drove to the concert and I had so
such bad gas. I was like, I'm just warning you
right now, like, and I'm sorry because it's raining outside's
there's no.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
If I get stuck in this. But I think chamber,
I can't roll the window.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
Very toxic to hold them in, Like, I don't think
it's good to hold them in.

Speaker 4 (11:18):
Yeah, I think you're right.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
Yeah. So but it was back up.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
Was lucky because by the time I got to her house,
I started burping. So I was like, I think it's
coming out the other end.

Speaker 4 (11:25):
Now I was not.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
I was.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
I still had defeed Phoebe and she was sitting in
her car, So I was like, just sit in your
car and do what you need to do and I'll
let you know when I'm coming outside. Don't don't bother
coming into the house. But she goes, I have bad news,
and I was like, oh no. And she goes, I
have gas and I go like farts.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
I'm like, no, yeah, I gas in my car.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
Well that's a conversation that we have a lot. Yeah,
the gas in the car thing. Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
Yeah, you never know what.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
But she she kept it respectful.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
I was very respectful. Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
Oh my other question about Thanksgiving, This was always a
conversation growing up. So when we'd go to extended families,
it felt like I needed to put on a fit,
like I wasn't just going to show up in sweats.
I was like, I'm decking out my unlimited to fits. Yeah,
and now obviously we're hosting this year, so I'll probably

(12:20):
be a little more dressed up, but still want to
be comfortable because we're just at the house.

Speaker 4 (12:24):
What is your plan for fits?

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Since it's today, I should know.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
Right, what are you putting on.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
Sweats?

Speaker 1 (12:36):
No, we used to do the same because when we
were when I was a kid, our things even was
just like my immediate family, so there was no more
like you know, no more than really like ten of us.

Speaker 6 (12:44):
Ever.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
But every time we host, we get like a little
we do, like get a little bit more dressed up.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
But I think it's gonna be cold this year.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
I'll probably wear like pants and a pufferuffer best, No,
like a sweater or like maybe a sweater dress O cute. Yeah,
but yeah, we do like take it up.

Speaker 4 (13:06):
But do the guests dress up? Is it expected or
do they just naturally dress up?

Speaker 2 (13:10):
That's a good question.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
My family's a little more low key, so they're but yeah,
everybody kind of shows up looking good.

Speaker 4 (13:17):
What about y'all?

Speaker 7 (13:19):
I used to do also do the Thanksgiving fit where
it was like you had to wear your best, Like
I don't know, sweater they're like skirts. I feel like
skirts and tights were in the next you know, but
now I feel like I've given up and I don't
care because I also realized that the all lot of
the time we would host things gonna get my house
and it was just family coming over, and I'm like,
why am I.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
I it's a lot.

Speaker 7 (13:41):
Yeah, so it's reverted to like sweats. Sweat sets, I
feel like are the standard now?

Speaker 4 (13:46):
Yeah, what's the dress code at the community.

Speaker 5 (13:49):
Center, the Gustine Community Center? Okay, uh, the pride of
the same one, Qing Valley. We do like business casual, like.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
Oh wow, that's elevated.

Speaker 5 (14:00):
Yeah, so everyone dresses like this sportster like we were
like jeans and a in an Abercrombie sweater.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Yeah we do. We have a lot of jeans.

Speaker 5 (14:09):
Yeah, like a button up shirt no tie.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
Yeah that's business casual.

Speaker 6 (14:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (14:14):
Oh like an untucked short sleeve button up shirt or
along sleeve tucked in to do that. But we're not
wearing like dress shoes like there you know you're gonna
see some some renders, some orthotics, some new balance.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
Definitely wearing your athotics.

Speaker 6 (14:33):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
Well, it sounds like everyone's in for a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
Damn, you know.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
And I have to say, if you're out there and
you're like, I don't have family near, or I'm not
in a good place with family, or you feel alone.
I had Thanksgiving one year by myself. I made my
favorite meal for myself, I watched TV all day by myself,
and I had a wonderful day. I had some sadness
in the moment of thinking I'm supposed to be with
people in celebrating, but I was content and I realized

(15:02):
I was able to do things that I loved and
was like, hopefully next year I have a different experience.

Speaker 4 (15:09):
But I'm just want to let you know if you're alone,
you're not alone.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
And just because things look different than how maybe they've
looked in the past, or how it's supposed to look
on social media, and what you see like, you are alive,
You're loved, and I hope you at least get to
have one of your favorite meals.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
Yeah and well said Becca.

Speaker 3 (15:32):
With that, that is the end of our Thanksgiving special.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
Happy Thanksgiving. We are thankful for all of you. We
love you so so much.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
Could not be more thankful grateful, appreciative. We love you,
love you, love you, and hope you get to spend
some quality time with your family, relaxing, do whatever you
want to do this weekend.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
Yeah, I hope you have lots of laying, a lot
of lay time.

Speaker 3 (15:56):
Yeah yeah, take care of your hips and back and
we love you so much.

Speaker 6 (16:00):
