Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Benn and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
with her radio. Hey guys, and welcome to the Almost
Famous Podcast. It's Ashley and then there's that guy. Hey,
I'm here. Hey Hey. So first we're gonna run down
some bachelor headlines. Then we have got some interviews with
one Pablo's girls, and Heather Martin, who is a she's
(00:24):
got a hot guy in a music video. We gotta
ask whether she has kissed this hot guy, and she's
she's added one to you know, what do you call it?
Not the mini she's had it added one to, not
the many of who she's kissed, the list or what
they call it, the bed the bedpost notch, but like
in in Heather, in my world, it's the kiss notch
(00:47):
because like I one time, you know, I had a
kiss list. At one point, you would have a kiss list.
You would definitely have a kiss list. Actually that's what
I was really proud of it. I was like, all
these guys are hot, Ashley, You're one of a kind
and I love you for it. Um head. There's also
on a trip right now with Hannah Brown, so maybe
(01:09):
we can get some details about what they're doing, why
they're together, and what it is that they're experiencing on
this Girl's retreat, Ashley. Before we bring on all our
our guests, we do have to break down this week's
good episode and also the Bachelor headlines, because there is many,
So let's just dive in. The very first topic is
one that we've been hinting at, you know, wondering about.
(01:33):
Bachelor Nation has been up in arms about and wondering
what is going on. It's Becca Koufferin and Garrett have
officially now announced that they ended their engagement. Uh. We
do think that all signs were pointing to this, however,
we just hadn't gotten clarity. But now we can confirm
that this has happened. So I want to read the
quote that Becca put out there. She said, after many conversations,
(01:54):
we came to this decision. It wasn't something that just
arrived one night. It wasn't based solely off one instag,
gramdpost or somebody else's opinions or comments. There's much more
to it. To any relationship, There's lots of layers and
it's not for me to divulge the details. It's no
one's business other than what I am telling you right now. Um.
(02:14):
But that being said, we have to analyze it a
little bit. Right. So I haven't seen Becca since February,
but you are way closer to her. You were on
the road with her for almost a month. Do you
mind me asking you, Ben, if you think that they
would still be together if it weren't for what went
down in June. It's so hard and I have to
(02:36):
take her words for it, right, like, I can't assume
in anything more than that. Uh, it was a lot
leading up to it, and I think in relationships you
can always point to there's gonna be conflict, and there's
gonna be things that your partner does that you don't
agree with. Um. If it is a healthy relationship, then
(02:56):
you make those things work, You work through them, you
talk about you come to compromise on him. If it
was coming from a foundation that maybe wasn't the healthiest,
then I could see where there would be some final
straws that would break and you would say this isn't
gonna work. I you know, I can speak to a
little bit more of this now because I didn't want
to assume too much before. But I did get to
(03:21):
spend a lot of time with Becca. She is a
terrific human and I feel very similar to Becca that
I feel about you, like I get I've told you this.
I'm lucky enough to be able to host and co
host things with some people who I am I'm just
really fond of and who I care about a lot.
I didn't, though, within our time together, get to speak
(03:43):
a lot to where her and Garrett were at, because
they were together on the bus for the most part,
and I saw there really their relationship look good from
the outside. Um, but again, this is where I can
speak to it. It's it's always, uh, you always want
to put up a good face when you're around people,
and I then know how hard it is to go
(04:03):
through a public breakup, especially in this bachelor world, and
there there's no easy or right way to break up
within it because you know that it's going to be
a story, you know you're gonna have to talk about it,
you know that there's going to be assumptions made, and
so it's it's more I think when Ashley and I've
been able to talk about it, we're just coming out
(04:24):
at this and like it sucks, like this sucks and
it's not fun, and we we It sounds cliche, but like,
we just hope the best for them moving forward, and
that they can separate and separate cordially and both pursue
whatever it is now that's next in their lives, uh,
and move on from this relationship that they obviously didn't
(04:47):
see being forever. Yeah, so maybe, I mean I don't
want to make assumptions either, but maybe if it weren't
for the post in June and how he dealt with it,
that maybe their relationship would have gone longer, but it
didn't have the forever to it because maybe that there
(05:07):
were issues that they just could never see eye to
eye on and they were too important to not And
then maybe they had different ways of like talking out issues.
It's just it is kind of it's um um for me.
It just seemed like they had a great relationship until then.
(05:30):
But again I was watching from afar well and you
have to see you know, I think we all have
to see this and we have the benefit and also
for them sometimes in demise of they both you know,
especially Becca lives a very public life and we've we've
gotten listened to her podcast with Rachel. She was was
(05:52):
really experiencing a lot of learning and growth throughout the
last few months, as many of us have. And I
think when it comes to these, like some of these
foundational viewpoints that really determine how you see people and
what you want to stand for, those do come into
conflict if you don't agree, like they do become major
(06:14):
issues in relationships if you can't see eye to eye
and who knows you know. Again, we have to take
Becca's word for it and and say, hey, this wasn't
the final deal, but I think that we can all
understand that, like it was a part of it, and
now they're moving on. In fact, the next headline in
this is that Becca has completely moved on now and
(06:37):
she's moved to Los Angeles. She announced, uh, just a
little while back that she has moved fully to Los
Angeles and she's starting life there. Yeah. I was thinking
that she wasn't going to continue to live in Carl's Bad, California,
which is about an hour and a half two hours
south of l A. Without Garrett. I feel like Garrett
(06:58):
probably was the kind of guy who didn't want to
live in a major city. And now that Becca single,
she's like, I'm gonna go live around people that I know.
She said that she signed a lease without even seeing
the apartment, making a giant step. And uh, we should
also mention that the dog is staying with her. Of course,
I was not shocked because I no, I knew that
(07:22):
Minno and Becca had a really special relationship. I mean,
if you it's similar to you, actually, if you talked
to Becca about her life. Uh, Minno is within the
first couple of words, the dog is a big deal.
So that's not a shock to me. Um, But it
is now confirmed the Beckett her that Minno is staying
(07:42):
with Beck in Los Angeles. From one bachelorette to the next.
Caitlin Bristow says Dancing with the Stars is her last hurrah.
This is a huge topic, Like this is actually a
really big statement by Caitlin because she's referencing that she
wants to start a family, so just Dancing with the
Stars experience is her last hurrah. Now, actually, this is
(08:03):
why I want to get your insight into not only
that statement, but then now she's also referencing that I'm
assuming that Jason is a part of this next step
for her. I know I was like, this was pressure
on Jason. Um. I feel like a proposal is just
around the corner. She's saying that she's already to start
having babies, and uh, this is going to be like
(08:25):
the last big exciting travel experience that she's going to
have before that they like settled down. Uh crazy. But
the greatest thing is that we don't have to suspect
anything because we can just ask. And that's because Jason
is going to be on our in depth podcast we're
(08:47):
recording in next Thursday, so we'll ask him all about
you know, their their future. It's it's exciting. I mean,
this is a just a huge statement that I feel
like kind of got like thrown undernee some of these
other headlines. I was like, wait a second, what I
think She wasn't sure when for a long time. But
(09:10):
we wish her the best. I mean, this is gonna
be an exciting time for her. Obviously, Dance with the
Stars felt like it was always made for Caitlin. It's
not made for everybody. It was made for Caitlin. She's
going to thrive and shine during this And what better
way to kind of say, for black of better word,
goodbye to a lot of the entertainment world, uh other
(09:31):
you know, for her, it stands with the stars, Like
what a cool way to do that. It's her celebration. Um,
but it hasn't always been celebration for Caitlin. In fact,
this week we also have seen Caitlin breakdown. Um, the
trolls got to her. And in fact, the headline reads,
Caitlin Bristo cries after trolls criticized her appearance ahead of
Dance with the Star's debut. She states, and I quote
(09:53):
it got to me. Yeah. So on Saturday, she shared
a picture of herself crying on Instagram. Her eyeliner was
still pretty pretty perfect. Um, and she said I forgot
how mean people are when you go on TV. Just
so many she looks old and plastic comments everywhere you
win today, trolls, you got to me. So she also
(10:16):
she also says that she's p messing and that she's
really tired. Not a great combo. She got really emotional.
But yeah, Charles suck. I mean these people suck. And
for any of you out there who would write such
a thing like could you imagine getting at yourself Like
I can't imagine just going to somebody's Instagram profile typing,
(10:39):
typing those words out so that they could see it.
It's uh, you know, ash what I what I think
of here is the best responses as Caitlin. If this
is her last hurrah, UM, then I hope Dancer the
Stars is a magical success for her and any But
(11:00):
that's criticizing her right now as she preps for it.
Uh is silence due to her success, and I think
that will happen. I've have full confidence in that, UM.
But it's unfortunate and it's not fun to watch. It's
not fun to watch a friend breakdown, especially publicly. You
know that haters hate success, so sometimes sometimes success can
(11:22):
feel more hate. But you just have to remember that. Well,
there is a great statement uh that says that with
your worst enemies, you need to heap coals of kindness
over them. And so I think Caitlin's best way, and
all of our best ways to do this is to say, hey,
I don't like it. It's not fun for me, but
I'm not gonna uh. You know, I'm not gonna go
(11:43):
down to your levels. I'm gonna shine in her place,
and she's gonna shine. We know that, UM. Question for you,
do you think that acknowledging the fact that you're seeing
the hate comments fuels their fire and makes them comment
more because getting satisfaction and attention out of it. Or
do you think the best cases and do you think
(12:05):
the best cases to ignore or do you think it's
more powerful to say, like these are the effects of
your words. That's a good question my my approach. Now,
originally it went to I'm going to ignore. That was
impossible because they come up in places that you can't
ignore them at I I now see that you're gonna
you and we know this on almost from this podcast.
(12:26):
In fact, this is a good point to bring up
our Facebook group, Um you know who you know? We
get messages saying, hey, there's there's hate being spread on them,
and then there's great things, but there's there's hate. Here's
what you I think we got to look for it.
And I'm not an expert in this, but you're gonna
find your select few who are outstanding humans, who have
(12:47):
your your back, who you have their back, who you
become a team together, who you enjoy each other, and
you want to lift those people up. You also want
to show what you also want to show those those
trolls what it's like to respond positively and maturely to
those comments. I think approaching it is is great I
think it's a it's an important thing to do. I
(13:08):
think it's showing them that, hey, you've hurt me. I'm
gonna show you've hurt me, but I'm not gonna stoop
to your level, but I'm gonna show you that there's
pain here. And I believe that when you show that,
the people who actually want to support, who actually care
about your well being, who actually enjoy um, people putting
themselves out there, will get more fuel to their fire
(13:30):
to say I've got your back. And so you're building
that team. And the people that don't want a part
of the good things in life, well, you can't force
them to like those good things, but you've got to
show them that they've hurt you. Because I think it's
important for people to know, hey, your words do still matter,
and we're not just going to ignore them because I
don't think they're going away. So well, we'll move on
(13:52):
to a little happier, funnier topic. Um we we just
talked about Caitlin excited to have kids and start a
family out there's one Bachelor Nation couple who have definitely
start a family. They've done it quickly and their kids
are growing up the headline reads pregnant, Jade Roper is
pretty sure Tannard Toilbert will get a vasectomy after third baby.
(14:14):
Snip snip is the comment. Why does the why does
the expression snip snip make me feel so comfortable? Because
it is uncomfortable. Actually, you gotta think about what you're
doing here. You're literally sticking something up between our legs. Now, granted,
you guys have your own uncomfort more than ours. Yeah, yes,
there's more, but like, it doesn't take away from the
fact that aasectomy is not a fun experience. Nobody looks
(14:37):
forward to it. And snip snip just I think best
categorizes the idea that you are cutting off something that
that just cannot be fun to be cut on. Yeah,
and you guys, bisectomies are reversible in case you decide
to have more children. But yeah, I know Jade and
Tanner they kind of just want to have these these
(14:58):
three grow up and all together in a chunk. So
like when they're done with the baby face, they're done
with the baby face, and then they can all There's
like a certain freedom when kids get to be able
to like walk, have conversations, all that stuff, you know,
because say, Emmy is like getting to that point. Now
she's so fun and conversational and really cool to be around,
(15:22):
becoming independent, and then you bring up like a newborn
into it, and everything kind of falls back. You're like, well,
we still can't do this, and we still can't do
that because now we have to take care of the baby.
So even though Emmy can do it, we can't go
on a family trip, you know, with three kids. But
like once they get to the age of well seven, seven,
(15:43):
five and four, then you'll be like, Okay, now we
can tote them around a little bit more differently, A
little differently, that makes sense. Yeah, Ashley, I have waited
patiently to not interrupt you, but you just said something
a little bit ago that is just really made me
squirt to wait what you said. You prefaced all this
(16:03):
by saying vasectomies are reversible. If at any time Jessica
looks at me and says, I need you to get
a vasectomy. But don't worry, honey, it's reversible. If we
ever choose not to be, I would go bonkers. Are
you kidding me that that's even an option? If you're
getting a vasectomy, I'm keeping my vasectomy. You are not
touching my vasectomy more than one time. And I'm sure
(16:28):
there's people out there have been like, yeah, I had
my husband do it, reversed it two or three times.
Like we just life change. I get that that happens
in unique scenarios, but nobody goes into getting a vasecondy
saying hey, I'm gonna do this as like pre emptive
just in case one day we want to start again.
That's so funny, and I'd like to share that Tanner
is the kind of guy who passes out at everything.
(16:48):
So he had this like a cyst on his head
and he needed to get it removed. A couple of
months ago, he fainted in the chair and that is
something that he couldn't even see. He was on top
of his head and it was very surface, you know
what I mean. So like, this is definitely this is
the guy that's not gonna be able to handle it.
This liked to me very well. I get it, man,
(17:09):
I get if you only knew all my stories, you
you knew I can relate. Hey, um, we have a
lot of topics to fly through here. Uh. Bachelor x
Is Nick Vile and Vanessa Grimaldi reunite for first time
since the two seventeen split. We talked to Nick about this.
This is on his nick V Trash TV and his
ex is tell all it's it's kind of a summary
(17:32):
of his season and speaking with the girls from his season, Ashley,
what more do you know about this? Well, they like
hash out a lot. It's definitely not just a surface
e fun conversation and if you guys want to listen
to it, you have to just type in nick V
Talks trash t V. It's a couple of dollars to
(17:53):
listen to this interview, but it's definitely worth it. So
moving on to dating, there are some Bachelor contestants that
are now publicly dating. We're gonna start with Hannah Ann
from Peter's season. The headline reads, Bachelor contestant link could
make NFL's team's locker room awkward. This according to the
(18:16):
New York Post. Okay, So, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Josh Dobbs
was just acquired off waivers to Pittsburgh and very soon
after that she was spotted with um Mason Rudolph, who
is the backup quarterback at the Steelers. So basically, Dobbs
(18:39):
and Mason Rudolf are going to be in the same meetings,
in the same locker room, and they both supposedly maybe
had a flirtation hooked up with Hannah, and I don't
think this is a real rarity in the NFL. I
don't think this is going to be as awkward as
the headline is trying to make it. I also don't
(19:02):
think either of these guys are currently dating Hannah because
she hasn't seen she has been spotted with Rudolph since March.
I don't think so. Yes, the headline is is probably
overstating the fact, but hey, what a coincidence? Can we
say that? What a coincidence? More dating rumors, but now
(19:25):
actually not a rumor, it's confirmed. Bachelor Nations star Jeff
Holme confirms he's dating Too Hot to Handles Francesca Farrago. Wow,
Jeff Holme would just confirm this. I don't think they've
been seeing each other very long? Um they because like
she was holding she was holding hands with another guy
good week ago. That's true. Yeah, right, so they're certainly
(19:50):
not exclusively dating. And Jeff points that out. He says,
people are quick to put a title on things, but
we're taking it slow, it's in the beginning stages. Oh okay, Um,
they were spotted on Tuesday, September one out on a
boat on like Powell in Arizona, and uh yeah, Francesco
(20:10):
is just I think Francesca is just having fun right now.
She's she's super hot, almost too hot to handle, too
hot to handle. Well, Uh, moving on now from dating
to we're gonna kind of get We're gonna ramp this
up to the Clear season and leading up to Clear season.
Obviously we'll break down here in just a second. Um,
(20:32):
but Wan Pablo season of the Goat. Uh The Bachelor
aired on the Goat here this week, and uh, well,
Wan Pablo hasn't been thrilled about this. In fact, he's
been tweeting Ashley what do we know? So we'll get
into this later. But I do think that they piled
on one Pablo a little bit last night. They made
(20:54):
it seemed like he was the worst man to ever exist,
Like they like they went beyond like he was our
least back like bachelor and went more to like this
is like a terrorist to women around America. They called
him the most hated man in America. I'm like, come on,
this is so ridiculous. So Wan Pablo tweeted something a
(21:15):
couple of days ago saying, interesting promo of Claire and
the season of the Bachelorette six years later, and I
know who is the wand that can't get over one
would love if you take a guess. Ps. Claire got
over a long time ago, just in case. Okay, So
(21:38):
Wan Pablo was never especially articulate on Twitter. He had
a lot of like sub tweets, a lot of games
used to play on Twitter that would just cause excess
speculation about things. I think what he's trying to allude
here is that the bachelor at franchise is obsessed with Claire,
(22:03):
is obsessed with Wan Pablo and bashing him, and Claire
has no feelings attached to him and like has moved
on extremely fine. It's uh, it's an unfortunate time for
Wan Pablo because obviously we will talk to the guests
(22:23):
a little bit and here their ideas about how the
Go episode was portrayed. But we've also now heard that
Juan Pablo has quietly split from his wife of two years. Uh,
and that was announced on US Weekly. Yeah, so I
don't even know that that was really ever announced that
Jan Pablo was married. I crept on his Instagram like
(22:45):
a year ago and I figured that out. She was
a former Miss Venezuela, and we don't know that Miss
Venezuela's are always like smoke shows. But they've been split
up for a while now and and they just his
what his ex wife made it public in March. So
if you guys didn't know, Juan Pablo got married and
(23:08):
now he's divorced, it is now over. And speaking of over,
will clear in Wan Publo. We obviously saw last Night
are over. However, Clear season of The Bachelorette is just beginning,
and her promo came out and Claire Crawley kisses one
of her suitors in new Bachelorette promo. Yeah, so remember
(23:32):
how last week we watched the promo together here on
the podcast and it was on YouTube on my computer screen,
And since I've seen it a number of time times
on ABC, and I get super stoked, like I love
this promo. I loved Hannah's promo as Cinderella and then
she transformed from the beauty queen into like the sophisticated woman.
(23:55):
But I'm obsessed with this promo almost as much Key
Palmer saying respect. In the background, Claire looks super hot
and in it they flashed to a couple little sea
like the quickest little splits to uh two scenes from
the season, one of which is her kissing a guy
(24:18):
who looks like the one that everybody is speculating she
left the show for. Oh well, that problem might speak
some truth to this season, but we still do not know.
In fact, we know very little in fact to this day. Um,
but get excited because Claire Crawley season is now just
(24:38):
beginning and we're going to talk about it here on
the Almost Famous podcast. Well that's all the hot topics
we after today. Again, we have some really great guests.
We have Charlene joint, Amy Long and Heather Martin coming
up in just a second. But before you do, let's
take a break. So watching this Goat episode, we're reminded
(25:04):
of three major Bachelor history moments. Let's start with Andy.
Andy goes into a fantasy suite thinking that she's just
like so into Wan Pablo. She's picturing her future with him.
She she says that she can picture her settling down
with Wan Pablo. She comes out the next morning completely
(25:27):
different attitude. She she can't even stand him for another day.
She's got to leave. What did she tell What did
she tell us on the podcast? She said that he
just talked about himself the entire time, asked no questions
about her. He seemed very self absorbed, right, Yeah. I
also think she kind of hinted at there's things she
wouldn't share publicly that happened that evening. And that's basically
(25:50):
what she does with Harrison in her interview in the
Goat episode, and that's what she did during the actual
Wan Pablo season. So maybe we don't know exactly what
happened that turned her off so bad, but I do
have to But watching this back in the confrontation, it's
so it's so fun, it's a very girl power moment,
(26:10):
but it does leave me wondering, does Andy just want
want Pablo to be like, no, I don't want you
to leave, like I want you to stay. I really
like you? Or or did he like really royally f up?
And we're not seeing it because because watching it back,
I'm thinking, Oh, she doesn't like him and he doesn't
(26:31):
really care about her, but she still wants him to
care about her. Well, I think, yeah, I mean I
would imagine that in most cases during this show, especially,
you want the lead to care about you, and sometimes
as a lead, you really want one of the contestants
to really care about you. And you're far enough along
(26:51):
in the journey at the fantasy suites where you're probably
pretty sure of at least who your final couple are,
and you're pretty confident that the person okay. For me,
that last final few was the hardest part because you
start to see who you want to be within the
end and who you want to work through a few
(27:12):
things with uh in the last couple of weeks, and
then that you have this person there. In my case
it was Kayla, who you care a ton about, who
you really respect, and now you have to say goodbye
to them. What I think this didn't show was the
mutual respect between each other, and that's why it was
so controversial. It looked like they are both like, this
(27:34):
is stupid, this is over, and you're like, wait, you
guys have been through some stuff already. Yeah. I think
she's frustrated because yeah, exactly what you're saying, Like there's
no emotion attached to him. He's saying it's okay, Like
she's like even though we both just kind of decided
that we we weren't into each other enough to continue.
(27:54):
I think, like, I would like you to acknowledge the
fact that we got to know each other as humans
and we have we had something. Yeah, this isn't just okay,
this hurts, and I want you to tell me that
you get that it hurts. It's probably what she was
looking for, right, and it didn't hurt, and I think
she just felt like, Okay, so you're just detached throughout
(28:17):
this entire process. You're just you're just not forming any
bonds with these women. And I think that rolls over
into the next historical moment when he tells Nikki that
he really likes her. She goes, I love you, and
he goes, I like you a lot. And that was
in addition to not proposing what she expected. But I think,
(28:40):
in hindsight, what a blessing that he didn't get down
on one knee. She didn't experience that with Wan Pablo.
She got to experience that with her husband. But but
the I really like you, I guess Wan Pablo kind
of he brought himself on being honest, so I didn't
want to lie and say I love you in that
(29:01):
moment when he wasn't feeling love, and maybe the Bachelor
franchise does put him down a little bit for that.
Like Harrison even said last night, he was like, I
like you a lot. Like they are making fun of
him for saying I like you a lot, But like,
would we have rather him say I love you and
not mean it? I don't. I don't know. I don't
think that is that really something we should feelize them for.
(29:22):
I think it's shocking and I think it shows that
he wasn't ready to be the Bachelor and he shouldn't
have been the Bachelor. But I don't know that we
can like make it seem like that's not a good
a good move. Anybody that comes to the show, my
advice and then would be do what's authentic you? Like,
this is a life changing moment, and just because the
(29:45):
show is telling you you need to you should get
engaged in or that feels like the path that you're
going towards, it doesn't mean that you have to nor
do you need to. Yeah, I don't think one probably
did this whole thing well at all. However, I don't
think we should villainize him for being authentic to his feelings,
(30:06):
even if they weren't what we wanted. Um, because I
watch it going okay, he he's confident enough in his
feelings to not express what she's expressing. It's unfortunate that
it has to look and be like this. However, he
he was true to He was true to how he
(30:28):
was feeling, and for that, I do think we celebrate
his authenticity. Yeah, and I think that's what Wan Pablo wants,
because that's what he's always frustrated with. He's like, if
you're not on it, if you're honest, they don't like you.
And the bottom of the crux of all of this
is that he wasn't the Bachelor that ABC wanted him
(30:49):
to be. He wasn't the kind of woman that most people,
or at least from what we saw he's. He's not
the person that most women want to end up up with.
Like nobody watched that season and thought like, this is
the kind of guy I would like to be with.
But also we can't. Once he was chosen to be
the Bachelor, he was just himself and we can't villainize
(31:14):
him for being honest in these situations. I could go
I could be a Bachelor fan right now, that it's
not coming. I mean I could. I don't know. If
there's anbody agrees with me. In fact, it's a great question.
Please email us at Ben and Ashley I heart media
dot com, or tweet us at the Almost Famous podcast
on Twitter use the hashtag you know. We talked about
(31:36):
it every season. I still stand firm in this. I
might change my mind at some point, but as a fan,
I get now the ups and downs of the season.
I get to the first couple of weeks are ridiculous.
I get that there's weird dates. I get that there's arguments.
I know that there's going to be drama. I expect that. However,
when it comes to the very last episode, I watch
(31:57):
it excited for somebody that I know to find love.
I also want to know if they really found love. Like,
I don't want this to just be a fake engagement,
because this is how it's supposed to go. I want
to be as a fan going you know, for example, Colton, okay, Colton,
you weren't you know, you and Cassie weren't ready to
(32:17):
get engaged. I can get behind that, Like, I know
where your relationship stands. Uh one, probably you weren't ready
to get engaged fair enough, like I get where your
relationship stands. But when there is that moment when somebody
gets down on the knee and look somebody in the
eyes and says, will you marry me? I want to
be on my couch in tears, going this is beautiful,
like I don't want I don't want to be misled.
I guess I should say, and I'm I'm glad. If
(32:39):
he did one thing really well, it was that he
did not mislead us on what his feelings were. I
will say that he didn't do it in a very
heart felt like he never he didn't. He doesn't seem warm,
he doesn't seem his delivery is constantly terrible. Because we
see Brad Walmack, who at the end of his season
(33:01):
doesn't pick anyone. Yet you still feel for Brad and
like there's so much emotion there and here there's just
coldness and logic and it just didn't it doesn't feel right,
and his character is definitely this is this is the
(33:22):
moment where I'm like, Okay, now now we can kind
of fil anize. When he says to Claire in a
helicopter ride, I don't really know you, but I love
screwing you and yeah, good, no like that, that's m hmm.
She talks it out with him in the in not
(33:44):
a fantasy state, but that last date where they get
to sit on the couch and like have their last
conbo and she I get that, she gets clarity and
like they have a good like hash out of the situation.
But man, with that stick with me, I don't. It's
it's not even like he was trying to be sexy
and said like I love screwing you. It was I
(34:06):
don't really know you. Yeah, it's just bad. It's the
antithesis of romantic. Yeah, that's not good. No, I'm like
sitting here and I'm like, yeah, and what scenario and
what scenario does that even work? And it's like maybe
(34:31):
in your most promiscuous like days, that could work, but
like when you're looking towards the end and you're you're knowing,
you're already nervous because you're a few days away from
something happening, either you're just leaving the show together or
you're engaged or getting broken up with and you're like
pouring your heart out into somebody else and they look
at you and go like, yeah, you know what, I
don't know you, but like you're I just love screwing you.
(34:54):
Like there's no way to say that and have good
intentions behind it. That isn't probably the one the most
jaw dropping moments I've ever had as a viewer watching
the show, right, Yeah, not good, not good. There's no
there's notion for that one. And I think that so
much of what she says to him in that scene
where you know, he dumps her and she has her
(35:16):
girl power moment, it's not so much daddy dumps her.
It's that that convert. It's that it's it's what went
down in the helicopter coming out. Yeah, I think, yes,
you're right, And I think that's where we forget, is
like we watch this in clips and we see her
getting you know, angry or she's like on him, and
(35:38):
we're like, well that kind of came out and know
her wise, But what we forget is that this was
leading up to that moment, by the things that he
told her and how it made her feel, and how
she where she felt her relationship was out with him
and where he felt his relationship was out with her,
And it's unfortunate. There's nothing about this moment Ashley that
(35:59):
I enjoy way watching. There's nothing about this moment that
I can even wrap my head around. Um, but what
it does do is it it points me and I'm
sure it was kind of their hope, but it does
point me to the excitement that is coming up with
Claire where I can go. Now we get to watch
her find somebody that cares to get to know her
(36:19):
and whenever they decide to one day will also enjoy
being with her and do it in a way that's
like caring completely. The why I enjoy watching that scene
is because she's just such a badass and she had
all the right things to say from the way that
she even stopped him like with her hands and just continued.
(36:42):
And it was, in my opinion, you know what he
says in the helicopter that makes her say, I would
never want you to be the father of my children,
and then two make matters worse in this whole dumping scene.
She walks away and he goes, I'm glad I didn't
(37:02):
pick her. Now that just proves that you know, you
don't want to be with him, like as if like
he had to like put the nail in his own
Coffin anymore. Yeah, well, it sets us up for this
good episode that we obviously it was not in favor
of Wan Pablo. He did not come off of this.
I don't think anybody's gonna wow, I liked Wan Pablo
(37:25):
more from it. I do think there'll be some maybe sympathy. Um,
I think there'll be some some opinions on, hey, wild,
you really dragged Wan Pablo through this all again, which
isn't super unexpected. He didn't do things great or well
or even halfway well. However, we don't know Wan Pablo,
but we have some women coming up that do know
(37:46):
Wan Pablo, and so I'm excited and ready to ask
Charlene joint her opinion on While Pablo and her opinion
on this good episode and see if he did, you know,
get dragged through again, if she felt like it was unfair, unjust,
or maybe she's like, yeah, he deserves every second. So
in a second after the break, we're gonna bring Charlene
joint In Amy Long from Wan Pablo Season onto the
(38:09):
podcast and dive in to this week's episode of the Goat. Alright, guys,
if you didn't fall in love with Charlie and joint
all over again last night watching Wan Pablos Goat episode
(38:30):
like You've Got Issues. We are joined here by Charlene Hey,
Charlie Hello, Ashley I, and Ben Higgins. You I mean
if I wow, you're a freaking cool girl, but like
you were so cool because you're so authentic and just
so real and you weren't filtered at all when it
came to you. Okay, says like you are. You are
(38:50):
the post of child for being authentic and being real.
So thank you. I think ever since the day we
ran into each other and met in the Delhi before
and I was like, don't go on the show. It's terrible,
so unbelievable. It ends up changing your life and you
met the love of your life. It's like the worst
advice in the world. No, it's okay, at least I
didn't take it seriously. Yes, Um, okay, So watching this back,
(39:15):
like I know that you. You didn't love watching yourself
back the first time around, and people called out certain
moments that they felt were awkward. But I feel like
with these Goat episodes, people are looking back with so
much more clarity. Um. How many people were responding to
you on Instagram and Twitter last night being like, oh
my gosh, you're so amazing, Like how much positivity did
(39:36):
you get yesterday? I got a lot, and it was
a little overwhelming because that truly was my only go
on TV and it was a long time ago, like
pre Instagram being as big as it is now. Uh,
it was very sweet, but I am naturally, unfortunately one
of those people that tends to focus on the negative.
I'm working on this. So as as sweet as it is, uh,
(39:58):
you know, it's it's very but I also feel like
whatever you see on TV is just such a tiny
facet of who I am. It's like, in no way
doesn't really represent me. So it's flattering, but it's also
like I take it with a grain of salt, do you? So?
With that being said, as you watch yourself back and
then also as you watch the season bag, what else
(40:19):
would you have loved to show about yourself that you
couldn't capture on television? I mean that is a that's
a deep one, then asked by a former lead. Uh,
you know, I remember watching it back and thinking, man,
I look like I have a giant stick up my ass,
Like I just looked really unfun and like I take
myself and the whole thing way too seriously. And I
(40:42):
think it's possible to take that seriously but not take
yourself too seriously and not take it all too seriously,
Like there's a fine line, as both of you know.
And I just I kind of wish I hadn't let
it get to me, especially in the later stages, like
I was crying a lot. I was, you know, just
really down. I was home sick, and as your friends
get sent home, you're like, I'm alone, and I just
(41:04):
you get clarity when you're out of the bubble, like immediately,
and I just sort of wished I had taken it
a little more in stride and just laughed about it
all a bit more and shown that side of myself
because it's real, it really represents me more than you know,
Oh I'm so smart, Like that's just so not who
I am. I really wish that I had just been
(41:25):
let's just let loose a bit. You came across very smart,
but not in like the Kelsey Poe way where it
was like I'm intelligent and she's not. You just can't
regretly that was your natural self. That's thank you. That's
a nice way of putting it. I think that I
went into it really like paranoid. I was like, Oh,
(41:46):
the producers are at to get me. Like the first
impression Rose was the best example of that, because I
was convinced that they had told me to give it
to me, and I was just like, I was just
like overthinking everything and analyzing everything. And I think that
comes off as you know, thinking you're too good for
it or too smart for it, when it's not really
(42:07):
my It wasn't really in my intention. It was more
that I had watched the season for so many years.
Actually I think you had as well. Yeah, and like
I was just like, you know, you're in, You're seeing
how the sausage is made, and I was just I
was just two in my head way too in my head.
Last night seemed like a pile on to me of
wam Pablo. He has tweeted a few times and he
(42:29):
was obviously annoyed. What's interesting is that the show makes
him seem like an actual horrendous person and you girled
a lot of you went on social media and kind
of defended him. So how do you feel about how
they represented him, especially last night? Like having bachelorettes like
Caitlin Um and Becca who have never met him and
just rip on him. I'm so glad you touched on that.
(42:52):
I it was pretty painful to watch. If I'm honest.
I think we all make mistakes, and you certainly know that,
you know if you went back and we're in that position,
and I can't speak to that position, but I'm sure
you do some things differently as we all would, but
especially as the lead, I just think so much. I
(43:13):
think that people wanted to misunderstand him. There came a
point where that happened, and the show really leaned into
that he wasn't that bad, you know, he really he
I he was a lovely person, especially to the women
he was genuinely interested in. Now you can criticize him
for not giving every woman that same treatment, but at
the same time, would you not rather that authenticity on
(43:35):
both sides. It's a bit of a quandary for sure,
but I think that it is reprehensible to rake him
over the coals one more time for good measure, to
remind us how great but Claire is for bachelorette. When
Claire is great for bachelorette with or without that, in
my opinion, absolute freaking lately. Alright, look, we should talk
(43:58):
about Claire. How what was your what was your relationship
with her in the house, Claire, Claire and I have
nothing bad to say about Claire. I honestly thought we
were friends until I watched it back and she kind
of said a few things about me, and and that's
always a little like traumatizing. You're like, oh, yeah, I was,
as you know. But I have nothing bad to say
(44:21):
about Claire. I think that she's perfect for the role.
I've always thought that she would make a great bachelotte,
and I thought there was a very good chance she
would get cast actually right out of our season. So
and actually I remember a Lawn telling me that he
always he was like, Claire would make a great bachelorette.
That was so many years ago, and you know he's
long gone, but he's getting his wishes. He is, you know,
(44:44):
before we let you go, because I know we're in
a tight, tight time crunch here, I do want to
just add a little bit of encouragement to you because
we haven't you know, we haven't done enough yet. Uh.
We had Andy Dorfman on an in depth episode about
a week and a half ago, and she said something
that I remember about you, Charlotte, and I've We've never
been on a meet in person, but I've heard a
(45:04):
lot about you from mutual friends and girls from you
know that were on my season who have a ton
of respect for you. Andy said she on Night one
got out of the limo or was in a limo,
I don't know the time, I don't remember the exact
time frame, and she saw you and the first thing
that came to her mind was I don't belong here,
because this woman is absolutely gorgeous. And then I remember
(45:26):
watching this season and there was a moment and that
you were sitting on a soccer field or a football field,
in the middle of like the field, right, remember this, Yeah,
you remember this, And it was a super awkward scene
because you, yeah, sitting in the middle of a soccer
field with nobody else around and you're talking. And that
stands out to me because I do think and I
(45:47):
could be wrong, but there was just like in the
first word that comes to my mind is glamorous or
just like you stood out amongst the masses, which doesn't
happen easily from this show. And I just want to
give you some encouragement to say Andy, who was a
Bachelor app who was on your season, and then me
years past. Uh, you know that season airing still remembers
(46:08):
that moment and goes that woman stands out above the rest,
and I think you have continued to do that. And
so I just want to say thank you for coming
on the podcast, thank you for sharing your time with us,
and uh and yeah, we we loved you just as
much during this good episode as we did from your
season to that. Oh, it's add on to that. You're
so memorable and you were only on one season and
(46:29):
you were top six, Like, way to go, way toge.
You're going to laugh at this. One time. Nick was like, wait,
you were only on that one season, right, And I'm
like yeah, He's like, I don't know if there's anyone
who's done more with so little than you. That sounds yeah,
that sounds very yeah, very Nick Like it's like a
(46:49):
compliment that you're like, I don't know what to say. Hey, Charlene,
thanks for coming on. We appreciate you and uh and
we'll be keeping up with you as time goes on.
Thank you for having me by for a person who
(47:12):
made a real splash on one public season to somebody
who was eliminated a little bit earlier, we had any
long joining us. Hey, Amy Ashley, how are you good?
How are you so? We know you're limited? Week two
of one public season? How well did you get to
know the guy? I mean not that much, not that much,
but more than what TV showed, of course, but there's
(47:34):
always that they always picked the most interesting part of
the conversation and go with it. So then, looking back
on your experience, how could you summarize it knowing that
it probably ended quicker than you were hopeful. Definitely ended
quicker than I was hopeful, But I think also ended
faster than even producers thought that it might. I mean,
(47:55):
they time to come out to my hometown, and I
don't know, really, I know they just seemed more encouraging.
They probably do that to everybody to make them hopeful.
But um, I thought I was going to be around
a little more because I don't really feel like I
got that fair of a shot. I wasn't even really
invited on a date. He just kept me around because
I don't know. Um, But well, watching everything back last
(48:17):
night on the greatest ever time I was, it brought
back so many memories of how excited I was and
how open I was to that kind of relationship at
that time, and and I still felt that way. I
was like, yes, those were all very real feelings. However,
watching it back, I can kind of see how the
whole experience was a little bit more um produced in
(48:43):
certain ways, I guess, but it was it was still
those feelings in that moment. We're all real kind of
like how how all of the girls came back and said,
oh my goodness, yes, that was That's like a fresh
wound again. That's crazy watching his season back, did you think, oh,
I dodged a bullet by getting eliminated. We two, I
didn't waste time or were you like I would have
rather gone along further so I could have just lived
(49:06):
the experience more. Uh in the moment and still now
I guess I would like to have lived the experience
a little bit more. I don't like I said, it
was hard to get to know him too much, and
I wasn't there that long, but we did have interesting conversations.
The whole premise of the show is to hopefully find love,
and I knew from the very beginning. Um he interrupted
(49:28):
me three times when I first got out of the
Lima before I could even say my name. So I
was like, well, this is not off to a great start.
But I'm still like, maybe he's overwhelmed. I'm overwhelmed. This
is completely new for all of us. So who knows. Um, So,
I wish I were there a little longer, not only
to get to know him, but even some of the
other people that were on my season. I really enjoyed
(49:48):
them a lot. But you know, they went on this
crazy journey then, and yeah, it was. It was a
crazy experience. I still can't believe I did it. I
kind of wish it would have lasted a a little
longer in that aspect, but I'm glad that, like nobody's
time was wasted on my end anyway, the it's always
interesting amy to sit down with people who were eliminated
(50:10):
earlier than they probably should have been. Um, And I
don't know you personally, but I'm assuming that, like you
have things that want Pablo would have loved to get
to know better. Right, UM, how how for you was
that if you can go back to that moment, what
was the feeling like knowing that you risk a lot,
that you went on to this show that you put
yourself out there, and then the feelings of going home
(50:35):
within two weeks, like what was the emotions like around that.
I don't why. I don't feel like anybody really could
even get a good judgment of me. Um. I work
in TV news, so I'm very higher aware of cameras,
so I was like, I'm not gonna act like an
asshole every here. We gotta like keep it cool just
in case Grandpa's watching. But I, um, I was kind
(50:58):
of humiliated, just because it is a lot to be like,
all right, very and as you guys know, a very
small pool of people even knew what I was doing
in the first place. But then I was like, oh crap,
I have to relive all of this in a couple
of months. But thank goodness, I went to Florida State
in the national championship game was on that night, so
I was like, we're just gonna watch them. Yeah, how
(51:23):
well did you get to know Claire during your week there? Um?
I I did. Actually, you know how they're like everybody's
so new, so um certain producers, everybody is so kind
to of course, everybody's in the house in the very beginning,
putting their best foot forward for the most part, and
so it was easy to get to know girls right away. Um,
(51:44):
Claire and I had a whole day at home together whenever,
you know, there was a big group date, so it
was one thing to know where then we were actually
the cameraman because like I said, I worked in TV
news and I was my own one man ban reporter.
So they let me like play with the cameras and
I was shooting interviews with Molly's dog and playing like
with Claire and she's like holding the boom, and um,
(52:06):
I think my favorite parts of that whole season were
the outtakes of that day probably, But and then they
were like, hey, why don't you go ask her about
her kiss with Juan Pablo? And I was like, well,
I don't want to know about her kissing, but sure
I will go ask her about that, because you need
someone to problem too that conversation. But I feel like
(52:29):
also Claire very much had her head in the game.
I don't know, it's not that she wasn't there to
make friends. She's a lovely human, but she also like
knew her end goal was to pursue this person, and
not necessarily that really on at least the best friends
with everybody if that makes sense, So Amy, confirm or deny. Uh,
(52:52):
the report came out years ago that you were asked
to be on Bachelor in Paradise. It is true. I
I was actually seriously considering it, and um, I still
kind of like, I wonder if they need another bartender.
But there was a reason. There was a reason that
(53:13):
you didn't go on Paradise, and that was because you
started dating Drew Kinney and he he who season was
he on? He was on Deserts. So the whole backstory,
this was just kind of funny whenever I was doing
the whole hopefully and uh, you know, we were quarantining
before it was cool over there, but you know, staying
(53:35):
to question in your hotel room and all of that.
The like. During that process, they had kind of told
me to check out Desert Season because the potential bachelor
is going to be on. Well, there are only three
people left at that point, so I was like, I
can do this. I can watch a couple of seasons,
a couple of episodes of this, but I think that
and I'll honestly, looking back, all of us girls on
(53:56):
one public season. Um, and if you remember, they so
added some girls, so there were extra girls at the
end of the night. They were like I thought they
captured at whatever number it was, but then there ended
up being like five more. Um. I think we were
all kind of picked for either like Brooks Forrester or
Drew Kitty, and that's why that's what they told me, Hey,
(54:18):
check it out and there's three left, and like, let
us know what you're thinking. And whenever they called me
just to say, hey, this is gonna be one poblo,
do you still unto it? I was like, sure, why not?
But then after one publo all of that was over,
I was like, wonder what this too canny guys up to.
So whenever they flew me out to ask me, like, hey,
do you want to be on Bachelor in Paradise, it's
this new show, And my initial reaction was I kind
(54:42):
of felt humiliated going home so early. I don't know
if I want to do that to myself again. And
things were also picking up in my career too, so
I didn't know that I can just leave it and
run around on a beach, because it's kind of the
opposite of what I should be preturing if I want
to be taken. Seriously, these were all thoughts that I
were having I was having in my in my head
at the time. I kind of wish I could go
back and be like, yes, let's do it together. But
(55:04):
he made it. Drew Kenny was runner up on Desiree
season and that was one season before me. He had
been through enough at that point and he didn't want
to expose, you know, any more of his family and
he had just kind of had it. And we met
actually on one of my trips out there to talk
about being on Bachelor in Paradise because he lived in
(55:25):
l A. I lived in Florida still, so I actually
messaged him. I was like are you are you were?
You asked like, what's what's the deal? So we were
kind of hooking up on Instagram before it was cool
and I was a deal and are you gonna do it?
And I'm not really sure about this show because it
was the first time they had ever even I mentioned it,
so I was thinking, yeah, like, what's the goal here?
(55:49):
We all gonna look ridiculous or I don't know. We
both decided not to do it because we found each
other instead, and we were like, we don't really need
that show to finding each other. We already found each
other there and that's funny enough. We went on a
trip to Mexico that summer and we just had the blast.
And I flew out a day early because how to
(56:10):
get back to work. He ended up running into the
long Gale and Christops and Chris Harrison and the airport
on his way back from Mexico. They were filming into Loom.
So that's awesome. I was. Yeah, so I was like,
this is this is kind of funny. So I didn't
messile on a Mexican adventure, Mexico adventure over here, like
(56:31):
and I got to go with the person I loved,
so it was perfect. How long were you together? Um,
we're still in l a together. So wait, you guys
are together six years? No? Yeah? Yeah. So it's crazy
because I think, like, oh, I wish I were to
(56:52):
stay in touch with some of my some of the
friends that really got a long with and we still
pay each other back on social media makes it really
easy for that. But I guess I I mean, I
still get my best friend from my bachelor experience and
just happened after the fact. Wait, this is wild. This
is a story that hasn't been shared enough in Bachelor
name pretty private like that. I guess, well, hey from us,
(57:14):
it's the almost famous podcast. Congrats, some big deal, a
story we didn't even know about it. Thanks guys, Thanks guys.
How are you guys doing? Then you're engaged. I'm engaged,
happily engaged, thrilled. Ashley's happily married, I think with two dogs,
and we are happily married and we have one dog,
(57:38):
but that one fine, Well there's always she was at
her parents house and so there's like six dogs. Yeah, yeah,
there she goes, she said. I wanted to say hi,
but yeah, well, depending on where we are in the country,
we have a number of dogs. Oh, Amy Long, you
are a dream. Hey, congrats again on behalf of all
(58:00):
of us. This is a bachelor success story that we
will celebrate. Uh please tell Drew hello for us, and uh,
we really appreciate you coming on. And I if all
else failed, I think you made the right decision, if
my opinion matters at all, by not going on Paradise
and pursuing this relationship that has proven to stay in
(58:21):
the test of time. Amy Long, thank you, Thank you.
Great to see you guys, by I mean thank you.
That's awesome. Thank you. Yeah, of course, I was actually
hoping to stick up for one pable a little bit more.
I'm not gonna lie. After rewatching his the episode, I
(58:42):
was like, man, I don't think that he had a
fair shot. We talked about it with Charlie and if
it makes you feel any better, okay, yeah, what she
actually had to say, I was like, I agree. I
always admired the hell out of her because she was
not a sophisticated and I'll again I was like, wow,
she's killer. She she seems to be a consistent voice
(59:04):
of not like reason and like logic and just like
a really caring voice. Um. So yeah, rough, you don't
just like you don't want to see these go Yeah
you don't want to see Yeah, you don't want to
see these goat episodes go and drag somebody through it again.
And it kind of felt like it did right, Um,
(59:24):
which is tough, but yeah, he uh that was rough.
Well I'm just yeah, I was like, I wonder what
he is doing today, but I don't know. I just
I was like, oh man, he just got it so bad.
But you know, I'm really happy for you. It's really
cool to be a bachelor family. And it was this
(59:46):
is a fun like revisit because I won't like, like,
I kind of avoided it for a while. It's really embarrassed.
And then I was like, one, am I embarrassed? This
is stupid? No, you know, And I think there's always
that moment where, you know, for me, it was a
little different because I got back, you know, I went
from the Bachelor to the Bachelor, and I saw the
beauty with I think I got to see the beauty
(01:00:07):
within the craziness of it all. And so I just
like really have enjoyed meeting the different contestants and the
people in their stories, um, and now seeing you know,
everybody come out on the better side of it all.
Like I think that's good. It's nothing to be embarrassed by.
Like everybody has these crazy stories from the show. Um.
But yeah, I just appreciate you coming on because life
(01:00:28):
has moved on, right, I'm engaged with somebody who's never
been a part of the show. But it's fun to
get to meet people like you who've done it, who've
been in it. And you know, I had no clue
and that's my fault that you were still in a
sense in it. And uh, I'm really happy to hear that.
Thank I'll pass that on to please do so. Thanks An. Yeah,
(01:00:49):
thanks guys, great to chat with you too. Well, we
want to think Charlie joint for joining this podcast. She
is a voice of reason and just tremendous voice in
the Bachelor family. If you want to hear her voice more, uh,
you have to go listen to her podcast, Dear Shandy.
It is terrific. Uh. You can hear her wisdom, her insight,
(01:01:11):
her elegance, and also her raw honesty. So again, go
check out Charlene's podcast, Dear Shandy. Well, our next guest
was not a part of Wan Pablo season. We're getting
(01:01:31):
a breath of fresh air from somebody that can offer it. Uh.
We have Heather Martin on the line right now. Heather
has been working on a few projects. She's been traveling
the US, uh, and we have her live. Heather, Welcome
to the podcast. Thanks for having me, guys, It's good
to be here. So Heather, catch us up a little bit.
(01:01:55):
I know we have some specific things we want to
talking about, especially the new music video coming out, some
of your projects you're working on. Also, I have been
following I think last evening this is going to come
off so weird. Um, And there's no other way to say.
I watched you in the bathtub um with Hannah Brown
answering questions to fans. So you have been up to
(01:02:17):
some stuff? What's been going on? So? I mean so
right now, Hannah the last minute last week it was
like you when it comes to this spot with me.
So currently I'm at this insane health spat, so she
said spot. I didn't realize so I was thinking just
like relaxing spat. But we're at this like it's called here, yes,
and it is insane. It's like absolutely stunning and it's
(01:02:40):
like European style in the hills. It's like absolutely beautiful,
but it is insane. Like we're working up at six
am and working out like all day and then being
like treated like queens and jumping around the golf car
and getting massages. So it's been pretty cool. But yeah,
where are you there for? Um? It's a three day
(01:03:03):
retreat so we leave today. But that's awesome. Have you
have you and Hannah always been this close or has
it been since she moved to California that you guys
got closer? Oh? No, And me and Hannah have always
been super close. Um, I haven't been able to hear us.
That's just because she's been on TV shows like for
(01:03:23):
the past year. But no, yeah, we've all believe them
close forever since the show the the This Retreat. Yeah again,
I have been watching you, um and this this retreat
does look amazing. Uh, just for anybody out there listening,
who you know, it's like, hey, I need a girls
(01:03:44):
get away or guys get away or couples get away,
whatever it is. How are you feeling three days into
a health and wellness retreat? Has it been worth it
for your friendship and for you personally? It is totally
unworth it. I mean we're kind of I feel like
we're not doing it in the way that everyone does it.
Like like last night we like so you're just calories
(01:04:06):
a day and we just, um, we went crazy last
night and like begged the front desk to let us
get some and sneak some pizza. And but no, it's
been feeling amazing for the most part, as long as like,
I feel like it would be even better if we're
actually eating great and but it's been. It's been great,
And it's been so fun to like actually connect with
(01:04:27):
Hannah again. And like just have someone on one time.
So so new something something that you have out is
a music video with loss in Bates is a song
called song for a Girl. How did you get in
a music video? So it's so so random. Um, it's
been like my life long goal. I'm like, there's like
(01:04:48):
there's one thing I want to do in life. It
was being a country music video, which is like the
most random thing, but it was so he just randomly
message gm mea on Instagram, was like, Hey, do you
want me in the music video? And I was like,
no questions asked, absolutely and so um yeah, he like
it would just message me in the beginning of July
and then like two weeks later he like flew um
(01:05:10):
their team flew me and my little sister out to Nashville.
And then yeah, that's kind of how it happened. That's
so cool. You join a whole bunch of bachelor girls
who have been in music videos. Now Tia has been
in a country music video, right, and so is hand
I think, Hannah Gee, am I'm making that up? Hannah
Gee did a butt like she was like she like
(01:05:30):
did a bunch of music videos, like even before the
show is there anybody a missing? I think Hannah and
oh yeah, thank you. I knew there was the other one. Yeah,
I think she did them too. There's obviously a plane here.
Country singers are singing seeing that's a target demographic. Did
you know team that I was once in a country
music No, but I was gonna say, I'm sure Lauren
(01:05:52):
Bushnell has been in a country music that would make sense. Yeah,
that would make sense. Um. I was in Ford's uh
country music video. You can look it up. I was
a school teacher who was just greatly um her and
confused by a girl. It's it's a great, a great watch.
(01:06:12):
Wait what was this was last year? Um? The song
is how You Lose a Woman by cult Ford. Um,
I do play a school teacher. Um, I am you know.
In fact, I'm not gonna give you too much away
because I think you need to go out and watch
this video. Um, but before you that, you have to
(01:06:36):
watch Heather's video that just came out. Then. Well, I
wasn't this in Hot Topics last year? Honestly, I don't know,
like I eliminated it from the Hot Topics. It is
actually it's really fun. Um I was distressed, but the
crazy part is so Heather. I don't know if you
(01:06:57):
had this experience, but you're kind of acting out whatever
it is that the artist asks of you during this
video and the kind of the music is playing in
the background, But you hear this song twenty thirty forty
I don't know how many times, and it's you know,
there's multiple cameras and there's multiple camera crews and there's producers. Uh,
(01:07:18):
it is a it is an intensive experience. How long
is your shoot? Was it one day or is it
multiple days? There's just one day. I like to consider
myself a one take guy. So yeah, and I do
know how to lose a woman no longer, but I did,
and so I was pretty good at it. That's amazing.
(01:07:39):
It was you in like the school the entire time.
Like was she a fellow teacher? Uh? Well, I don't
really know who the woman was that he was referencing
because she never showed up in the video. Um but
Colt played the janitor who was kind of overhearing my complaints,
and I was the school teacher in my office, frustrated,
(01:08:00):
its saddened her. I was making poor decisions. I was
staying at work too late. Um so when it comes
to though, Yeah, I'm not the topic here to talk about.
I get to talk about myself all the time on
this podcast. There's some flecting. Yeah about what is the song?
(01:08:21):
H what is the song that you played in? What
is that about? Um? It's so it's called song for
a Girl. So basically it's like a very lighthearted song
about he's singing a song. It's like a summertime vibe
song that he's like singing it about. He can't like
focus on writing or anything that he's doing because he's
just thinking about the girl. So that's pretty much it.
(01:08:43):
So yeah, People Magazine said it is depicting the early
stage of a blossoming romance. And when I see these
pictures of you with Lawson, I think, oh my god,
have there kissed another guy? Yeah? What I'm saying that like,
I'm looking at these pictures and I'm feeling a blossoming
(01:09:05):
romance between you two. Was there anything more than just
co stars here? No? No, wasn't there really wasn't he was.
He was literally he was so much fun. But yeah, no, Unfortunately, Well,
(01:09:25):
according to last night's uh Instagram live, UH, you are
looking for a man with a servant's heart who was
humble and kind of love. Have you found this man?
I have not. I have not found this man yet.
I feel like they're ben Where do you guys have
(01:09:47):
any suggestions far between? Well, we we know a lot
of people from the Bachelor franchise. I think some of
them would fall into this category. Uh, the for anybod
be out there right now that is single, that is dating,
how are you going about finding this man or this partner?
(01:10:08):
For you? Me? How am I? I'm really not. I
think that's the issue. You probably, I mean I don't.
I don't really, especially like right now. It's like, I
don't know, how do you meet people in this time?
It's really hard. You know, it's not easy. I mean
obviously you know there is the social distancing, there is
(01:10:30):
the pandemic. I don't know if dating has ever been easy.
I don't remember any generation that said that, Hey, dating
is super simple. But I had some advice and I
got to give a shout out to our scrubbing in
podcast friends Becca and Tanya. Tanya a little over a
year ago gave me some advice to any single person
(01:10:50):
out there, and this is what she told me. I
think it's I think it's simple, but I think it's
the best advice I've ever been given. Um. She said,
if you're single and you want a partner, some don't.
It's great. If you're single and looking, you can never
stop dating. Keep dating, go on bad dates, go on
good dates, go on dates in between. It helps you
(01:11:11):
not only get out there and find what you're looking for,
but it also helps you create stories and connect with
people that you typically wouldn't connect with. And I think
for me, I just took that and I've told any
of my single friends that like, if you're looking, just
don't stop dating. Get out there, have fun. People are
interested in all different sorts of people. That is that's
true because it's the total opposite. I recently told the
(01:11:34):
friend was like, I'm just like, I don't know, I
want to give up so bad. Um, And I was like,
and I was like, if you if you stop dating,
it doesn't mean that you're giving up. It just means that,
like the universe is going to help, is going to
get your guy to you in a different way. It'll
(01:11:56):
just come in a different way. And now you just
like show up at your doorstep. Yeah, like just going
around life like go grabbing a coffee and like then
there's a cute guy on lines something like that. I
don't know, you never know. I know. That's the thing
is like I just I really I love meeting new
people and I love like connecting with people. But I
(01:12:17):
just I don't like I hate dating because like I
hate going on a date and then then and then
you just I feel like I kind of know immediately
and it's like you have to say no to a
second day. It's just like I feel terrible. It like
stresses me out. It makes me feel like a terrible human,
and so I just kind of try to avoid it,
which is probably the wrong move. Well, you're young enough
(01:12:38):
that if you want to avoid it, you can go
ahead and avoid it. Actually, and I will disagree on this,
I think you just keep dating. I think people can.
I think people can take getting said no to a
few times. I think you can. You can take saying
no to people a few times. But you are a catch. Um,
You're a terrific human. I hope you have a blast
(01:12:59):
on this reat. Three. And and please, from from Ashley myself,
please pass on to Hannah that we say hello and
wishing her the best again. If you want to find
Heather Martin. Uh, go listen to and watch Song for
a Girl. This is a beautiful song. Uh. Heather is
(01:13:19):
in the video and it's by Lawson Bates. Song for
a Girl by Lawson Bates. Heather Martin, thank you for
coming on. Awesome. Thanks guys on this podcast. Obviously at
the beginning, we topped at this podcast. Obviously at the beginning,
