Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Almost Famous Podcast with iHeartRadio. All Right,
Hi everyone, It's Trista and Bob and we are here
for the Almost Famous og podcast. Ready to have a
really fun episode.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
I'm so excited to talk to our guests today.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
We'll get into that in second, but we wanted to
let you all know that Almost Famous is doing something
new this year.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
I think this is the first year. Right, do you
think this is the first time they've ever done this?

Speaker 3 (00:31):
I think so. I mean these are kind of like superlatives, right,
I think it's fun. So did you win any of these?
And you're when you were like in high school and
stuff like that before you oh superlatives?

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Oh gosh, I did.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
I think I did, but I honestly cannot remember because
you know, bad memory and I'm fifty two years old.

Speaker 4 (00:53):
But the baby.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
Baby. But they are doing the Almost Famous Podcast Awards,
and we just got the list of the nominees. I
think that Bob has a bone to pick with some you.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Know, I wouldn't say it's a bone to pick. I
would have just thought out of a courtesy, even if
the person writing these votes down doesn't believe this to
be true, just as a courtesy my name should have
been on there as a Best Bachelor possibility, right, I mean,
like I am part of the Almost Famous podcast team.
Don't you think I'm going to react a certain way

(01:35):
when I read these and I don't see my name.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
So obviously Bob's a little upset. But I will say
that one of the categories is best Bromance, and I
will most definitely be voting for you and all of
the guys on my season because it's you and everyone
in my season was nominated for Best Bromance.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
Yes, down has to be the winner, Like, come.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
On, it has to be. I mean, we were you know.
And I will say this though, you know, that is
one of those things where you know, in all sincerity,
it was so and Ryan and I just talked about
this when we were together again. It was so organic
and just genuinely real that it was like one of
those things where we didn't know we weren't supposed to

(02:22):
get along, We didn't know they were supposed to be tension.
You know. We were like, hey, man, I really like
this dude. I mean, if it can't be me, I
sure hope it's him, you know. And it was genuinely
that feeling of camaraderie and friendship, and so you know,
I can say honestly, I have I personally have watched
most seasons at some point or another. The only time
I've seen anything like it or with the Golden Guys,

(02:42):
I will say that. And and so I think the
only people that will give us a run here on
the mansion men. But if you look at it from
the standpoint of being a little maybe a little more mature,
beyond our age or beyond our years, at that point,
I would have to give hats off to the Trista
Bachelorette Season one guys for that.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
Plus, I gotta win something. I mean, if I'm being
iced out on my own award for Bachelor, even though
I have to announce it, at least give me a
chance to win something. Sugarman. God, oh my gosh.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
So I thankfully fell on the list of best Bachelorette.
I was a little shocked, to be honest. Yes, I mean.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Good candidates there. There's only four under Bachelor, so so
at least they realized that, hey, at this rate, Trista,
does you know she's going to win a But also
we better that's not true.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
I don't you know, It's funny because most of the people, sorry,
most of the people who were will probably vote for
this are way younger than us, So season chances that
me or you and the rest of my cast win
for Best Romance very small. I don't expect that kind

(03:58):
of stuff. But it is really fun and I love
a good award show, and I love that this is
all about the Bachelor, So thank you for almost famous
for doing this, and iHeart I.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Gotta find if there's another category we can get Ben nominated,
and there's He's only nominated in a couple, so we're
gonna try and see if we can stack the deck
a little more here. I'll work on this. Yeah, he's
under Best Romance. Also, that's nice, so he'll probably win
that one. Yeah, you know, it's nice. It's nice to
see his name in there a lot. So anyway, what
are you saying? I'm sorry, I got a little concerned

(04:35):
enough about enough about no one talking about me. Let's
not talk about.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
It, Okay.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
So voting is open until September eleventh, so go on
and vote. We will both be posting on our socials
if you want to figure it out. But you can
find all the information. I'm sure on the almost famous
Instagram page.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
There are some really good ones in here as well.
I mean, one of the things I love, and this
is something we had talked about previously, was what is
this one? This one is worst line ever said? And
it was, Oh gosh, it's so cringe worthy. Man, I
remember it so well, I swear I remember this one
goes yesterday where Jake Pavelka is talking and he's talking

(05:16):
about her, you know, interrupting her, and he starts to
talk and she says something because will you stop interrupting me?
She says, like, that's it my mother here. It was
so oh my god. I remember watching it like it
was like watching the OJ thing when he's driving down
the highway doing seven miles an hour. I was just
like my mouth was wide open, going, what in the
hell is happening here? I remember that so well.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Yeah, totally well.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
And I do have to say we just got well,
not just we were in Tahoe recently for the almost
famous pickleball event.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
That was so much fun. I had the best time.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
Yeah, it's always great to just get together with you know,
our bachelor family and also some housewives and yeah, oh gosh,
and just the almost famous crew, like all of the
people who work.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Behind the scenes. It was so much fun. It was great,
so and thank you.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Thank you for doing all that too. I mean, Christy,
you had such a great idea with this whole thing.
And you know, I'm saying thank you to our team,
Like they got out there and they set this thing up,
and you would have thought that they had been planning
a pick a ball tournament for, you know, five years.
The way that this thing went off without a hitch,
it was unbelievable and means so much fun. And the

(06:35):
what I think is really great too is how Amy
and her team come up with awards. Oh wait, sorry, no,
that's not the one. How Amy and her team. What
I think is super great is how Amy and her
team find a really healthy mix of people, Like it's
always a few different people here and there, and most
of them are people that I'm meeting for the first
time in a lot of circumstances, and it's always a

(06:57):
nice blend. Like it's really great. I just I mean,
they're really good, really great at that. And that's a
lot of fun. And thank you guys for all your
hard work.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
Yes, thank you for everybody. We had a great time
on the boat. We had a great time playing pickle.
We had a great time just hanging out of the
house and eating some great food. Yes, but the boat.
We'll talk about the boat because the boat was owned
or is owned by somebody that you all have probably

(07:26):
seen before if you watched the show in the og days.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Yes, So we sat.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
And watched this video in Tahoe, me and you and Deanna,
and oh my gosh, it brought back so many memories
because it was actually during the show that we're going
to bring on, you know, the guests that was on
the show that they announced my season of The Bachelorette,
and me and Chris had a little sit down chat.

(07:56):
It was it was just crazy, like putting myself back
in that time of when it was being announced, because gosh,
it's been a really long time and just all the
feels that came along with it.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
You know, I will say this, you were so spunky.
You were so spunky in your interview, and so so
much has changed, but so much has stayed the same.
You know, like you look so you look exactly like
you are, like still still just funny and spunky as ever,
and that and that thing I was watching it, and
I was like, you know, it's no question why America
fell in love with you, Trista, like and that in

(08:31):
that little video thing and you're sitting there talking to
Chris and you're being funny and engaging in just your yourself,
which you always are, but it was like, sitting there watching,
I was like, I was like, oh man, yep, I
get it. I remember this now, you know. I was like,
I remember. It took me back as well, you know,
to that whole thing. I love seeing our old friends that,
you know, reproducers on the show back then, like Lisa

(08:52):
Levinson and all the different people that were coming up
and being so funny, Sol, Jason Carbon.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
Yes, oh yeah, yeah, good, so great, so great, Jubers okay, yes,
oh my gosh. I loved that. I loved seeing their faces.
So we are really excited to chat with one of
the people that was being considered for the Bachelor after
my season. His name is Jason Damachino, I think is

(09:21):
how you correct it, and we'd love to bring him
into the podcast.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
Yes, let's let's let's bring them on in. Jason D.
He would have been Jason D in later seasons when
they started.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
Name yeah, totally.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
What I thought was so great about Jason was We're
on the boat. I'm on the first batch of Bodies,
and We're just kind of driving along and he's like,
you know, yeah, you know, I'm not super familiar with
the show. I mean, well, I mean I did you
know I did audition for it. I'm like, wait what,
hold on, hold the phone. He's like yeah, And it
was so great. What's up, Jason, Welcome to the show, buddy.

Speaker 5 (09:56):
Hey, Bob goes party.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
Gost party, baby, that's all right, go greed. Hey, so
glad to have you on. We were just kind of
giving the world a little bit of an earful about
how you know. You and I are on the boat
and you're like, yeah, you know, I've known Amy Sugarman
for a long time. We kind of went to high
school together stuff, And all of a sudden, You're like,
you know, I'm not super familiar with the show. I
mean I did audition for it once. And I'm like, wait,
wait what Oh yeah, I was a finalist for season two.

(10:20):
I'm like, oh, hold on, hold on. And then you
pull up you pull up this little screenshot and showed
it to me. I'm like, this is amazing we got
to talk to this guy.

Speaker 4 (10:28):
Yes, it was a coincidence. I mean seriously, it was
a total coincidence. And the timing was great, and I yeah,
when I when I saw you guys were on the boat,
I just had to tell you that for a wind loser,
nothing else, you know.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
Yes, So yeah, it was awesome. I mean, you know,
it was so fun. You know, we meet you on
the boat. You're you know, really you were so lovely
on the boat too, giving us a tour of the
whole place and filling us in on, you know, some
of the history of Lake Tahoe, and I mean very
knowledgeable about that area. So how did this whole thing
come to pass? Because what was also part of that
video that we loved that we were talking about before

(11:03):
he brought you on was it also was the announcement
of Trista as the new bachelorette, which was super cool.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
And we discovered that Trista and I discovered that when
I dropped her off the final cruise you might Save
that day I showed Tristan, she goes, oh my god,
that's me.

Speaker 5 (11:17):
You know. That was that was the show.

Speaker 4 (11:18):
So yeah, the timing was interesting there, and yeah, I thought,
that's an experience. I'm sure you guys obviously gonna rap
a lot more, but an experience I'll never forget. And yeah,
you know, I had an ext girlfriend from graduate school
in New York. She nominated me behind my back, just
you know, for the record, and Burbank called me, and

(11:38):
one thing led to another.

Speaker 5 (11:39):
A couple of.

Speaker 4 (11:40):
Tapes were sent back and forth. And because two thousand
and two and I was on a one way ticket
on Southwest Airlines to LA and they had me typecasted
pretty good.

Speaker 5 (11:49):
They did a good job.

Speaker 3 (11:51):
But we were gonna say that, right, Twista, Like we
were like, how does it feel? Because you know, here,
here's the if we're thinking about this twist like from
here in my exper it's compared to Jason's. Right, we
were both like the ones that they were making the
Bachelor or the Bachelorette. So they had to say nice
stuff about us, right and Trista you can't you can't
help but say nice things about Trista. Me. They could
take some shots with ease and it would have been

(12:13):
perfectly fun. But like for you that I loved the
whole Lisa Levinson's engagement with you, and she's like, oh, Jason,
here we go.

Speaker 4 (12:20):
You know, well, I learned the hard way that when
you when you when they have so much content, they
could make you. They can make you whoever you want.
They had me typecast it as the JF. Kate Junior
of San Francisco.

Speaker 5 (12:32):
You know, there you go, what are you gonna do?

Speaker 4 (12:35):
I don't I don't run Bruce Sprince in Presidio Heights
and San Francisco.

Speaker 5 (12:40):
I don't mount by shirtless with no helmet.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
You know that day you did, that day you did. Yeah,
you were playing a mean game of horse or something
there and.

Speaker 5 (12:52):
It was amazing.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
It was so funny.

Speaker 5 (12:55):
Well, yes, yeah, iron't even at all, is is it? When?

Speaker 3 (12:59):
Now?

Speaker 4 (12:59):
When there came San Francisco, they had a premiere party
for me because I was the only San Francisco guy
and board got around and my date back then, Katie,
she left during after she saw the taping. She goes
during the premiere she's walked out.

Speaker 5 (13:18):
Of the building. Well she's down.

Speaker 4 (13:21):
My wife twenty five years later, full circle, We just
got married in October. But she was in chew at
UCLA and was in Malibu for twenty years and we
kept in contact. But it's just a testament ironically about love,
you know, and.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
For us, I was fifty two years old.

Speaker 4 (13:40):
It took me fifty two years to find Katie, and
she was the only person I was going to marry.
So I live in Lake Tahoe. I'm in the Uncle
Hall of Fame. I don't need I didn't need. I
didn't need a wife, but Katie wasn't and it worked out.
So really a testament to our love. I think she
we met again, so it was great.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
I think Jason, I think Trista and I might be
able to count this as another win for the Bachelor franchise.
I mean, I.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
Don't know about that, but what I do, what I
am wondering. So we did pay attention to what the
producers were we're saying during your you know, little clips,
and one of the things that they said, or maybe
it was you you said that you were having relations
with three women at the same time, is that when
Katie walked out the door.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
I said, this was.

Speaker 5 (14:41):
Nine months ago.

Speaker 4 (14:45):
And let me tell you, I.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
Wouldn't have guessed that would have been, that wouldn't have been,
That wouldn't have been the perfect moment for your girlfriend
at the time.

Speaker 4 (14:57):
And this whole thing was new, right, this whole reality
vision taping in the past. Here we're in the future,
and uh, I tried to explain to her one quick story.
We had dinner that night before the premiere and my
buddies called me from New York and they call me
at dinner and.

Speaker 5 (15:13):
They say, Jason, is Katie with you?

Speaker 4 (15:15):
I said, yeah, we're having sushi And they said, well,
we just saw your show man. Because of three hours ahead,
you may want second you may want a second guest
this premiere.

Speaker 5 (15:24):
So that's too late, now man, here you.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
Go, yeah, here we go.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
So the katy a little a little heads up. Yeah,
that's that's nice of your buddies. But unfortunately, you know what,
the everything works out the way it's supposed to, right,
So at the end of the day, has she not
seen that premiere in stormed out?

Speaker 1 (15:40):
You know?

Speaker 3 (15:40):
You might have that things might never have worked out.

Speaker 4 (15:42):
One hundred percent, you know. And I'm wondering too, Bob,
do you have children? How old are your children?

Speaker 3 (15:46):
I do? I have a six year old, the four
year old boy.

Speaker 5 (15:48):
Yeah, okay.

Speaker 4 (15:49):
And then trist I know you have teenagers, you know,
and yeah, Amy sent me that reel. But but before
we met, you know, that day of and I showed
my nieces and nephews were high school kids and college kids,
and they tripped out.

Speaker 5 (16:00):
You know, they couldn't believe that that was uncle Jason.
You know.

Speaker 4 (16:03):
But tris your and your and your children too, Bob,
as they get older, look at a trip at christ
and now they know you know what you who knew
who you and dad are and all that stuff, and
Bob too. It's an amazing it's an amazing experience.

Speaker 5 (16:15):
Again, for better or for worse, we always have that
in common.

Speaker 4 (16:18):
You know, that special moment with the ABC bubble in
the corner of screen right there.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
Yeah, yeah, So what what did your family think about
and friends?

Speaker 2 (16:30):
Yeah, when this video came out?

Speaker 1 (16:32):
What were your what were the things that you were
getting comments wise from your press?

Speaker 5 (16:37):
It was not that it wasn't good.

Speaker 4 (16:38):
Like my grandparents are probably they're just ceased now, but
they were probably in their.

Speaker 5 (16:42):
Sixties, you know, you know. And there was there was
my when my brothers were in There was college parties.

Speaker 4 (16:47):
There were parties around the Bay area, and I well
first of five, but.

Speaker 5 (16:51):
I spent respect the rest of the night putting out
the Thekadi fire.

Speaker 4 (16:54):
But that the next day comes and it's you know,
it's before texting, basically, it's around that time.

Speaker 5 (16:59):
But I had to explained myself and say, hey, I
learned the hard way. You know, they flatter you.

Speaker 4 (17:04):
They flatter you, you know, the the love incidents of
the world.

Speaker 5 (17:07):
Deep they bait you, They bait you, and.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
All of a sudden, they get this image they created
and and it was not It didn't depect didn't depect
who I was, truly, but they kind of they stroked
you a little bit and you get carried away. And
so I had explained to them that and it was
a less a real hard lesson about humility.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
You know. It was a dose.

Speaker 4 (17:28):
And I will say this, I don't think I ever
had a chance to be on that show for a
lot of reasons. I mean, a bachelor. A side story
was my brother got married during taping and I had
to go to NAPA. I was his best man, so
I was allowed to call him. I vanished, as you know,
you vanished for a few weeks, you know, or whatever
it is. My mom was my old emergency contact, and
I called Tommy. I go tom, I said, you know,

(17:50):
I'm on this reality show. It doesn't make a difference.
But they want to bring the camera crew to NAPA,
and he was he said, no, that's.

Speaker 5 (17:57):
Not gonna happen.

Speaker 4 (17:57):
Obviously, he's think of that best, the best man, the
whole thing, not a beautiful wedding.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (18:04):
But I had to I had a lot of explaining to,
especially my grandparents because you know, there there old school.
I understand the whole the verbiage, the freaking, the content.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
Well, it was racy. For it was racy at the
time too, right like now now it's pretty uh you know,
vanilla compared to things that you see on TV now,
But back then it was kind of racy. I could
see that. You know, my family reacted the same.

Speaker 5 (18:28):
Ways on a nerdplane.

Speaker 4 (18:30):
He's a he's a banker, and I'm just you know,
I'm sorted with girl.

Speaker 5 (18:35):
It was just a whole deal.

Speaker 2 (18:40):
Listen.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
I'm just I'm just hopeful. I'm just hopeful that someone
can love me despite my large bank account. It was
the best. But you know what, man, we both know
how that works with the producers. And I'm sure they're saying, oh,
you you should say should say this, it'll really, you know,

(19:02):
really help resonate you with the crown people and you're
not even thinking.

Speaker 5 (19:05):
I was thinking about this today. I was thinking about
us today and one of.

Speaker 4 (19:08):
The things has me with my sunglasses on, going down
the hallway with one of the interns, arm in arm and.

Speaker 5 (19:15):
They're filming that. Well, they grabbed my arm. They set
me up like, you know, like Mona Lisa. You know
I was framed.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
I was framed, framed like the Mona Lisa.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
I've never heard bad edit.

Speaker 4 (19:30):
I went along with the hook line and sacred and
I guess I was. I provide a purpose for the
final four.

Speaker 5 (19:37):
So there you go there. It was fun. I mean again,
my class high school and college classmates, they couldn't believe, you.

Speaker 4 (19:44):
Know, at the time, they go what what Jason Domas
knows on national television and work got around. It was
fun but no regrets. I just wish I could have
been more mindful of the hundreds of minutes.

Speaker 5 (19:55):
They had on me.

Speaker 4 (19:55):
You know.

Speaker 2 (19:59):
I have to say.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
One of the other fun things that I felt, like
you said, was they asked you if you could get
engaged when it comes to engagement, and you said I
can do it, not saying I will do it, but
I'm capable of doing it doing it like like, oh
yeah to.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
Me, basically I can be down.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
I mean I can bend down.

Speaker 4 (20:19):
Yeah yeah, you know, faver gold his eyes.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
And that wouldn't have gone over well if you had
said that, you know, I don't think you would. You'd
have even have been considered for the show. But that
is so funny.

Speaker 3 (20:36):
So funny. I loved it. I loved it, especially after
meeting you too, Like, you know, we meet you and
you're just like a super nice guy, super affable, saying
hi to everybody, you know, being so inclusive, and and
then you watch that little clips and you're like, oh
my god, I love it. I can't wait to tease
him about this one. You know. So I'm sure I'm
sure your friends got a lot of miles out of
that with you. For a long time they did.

Speaker 4 (20:56):
I had a little love you know. It's a chase
moment too. I don't think a drink in San Francisco
for a little bit and my entarage. They didn't pay
for drinks there, good.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
Couple of they took.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
They took advantage of that.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
Okay, great good. At least I got something out of
the hundreds of minutes or you.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
Know, what's interesting is half the things you're saying right now, Katie, Katie,
was she left so early in this, in this, in
that fifteen minute clip that when she saw the video
again privately with me as a married couple, she it
was all.

Speaker 3 (21:26):
New to her.

Speaker 4 (21:27):
Half, it was new to her and yeah, well that
it was going to covered too well either, so.

Speaker 5 (21:34):
Brought yeah, sorry.

Speaker 3 (21:39):
Yeah, please Katie, accept our apologies on behalf of the
Bachelor community.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
So I would love to know if you were considered
for future seasons after that. Did they get in touch
with you again?

Speaker 3 (21:50):
No?

Speaker 4 (21:50):
I think I just I just I just went back
to my job and try to live my normal life,
which I.

Speaker 5 (21:55):
Did, you know, of course, and that was it.

Speaker 4 (21:57):
There was no there was no I guess what, I
guess the Bacheler would have been my next move.

Speaker 5 (22:01):
I guess during that time.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
Yeah, I guess.

Speaker 4 (22:03):
The franchise has gotten in a different different venues and
angles now. But no, I just kind of I put
back into the oblivion of a of normal normalcy, you know.

Speaker 3 (22:13):
Yeah, half is the best of us, buddy, Yeah, half
of the best of us.

Speaker 5 (22:17):
But I got it, I must admit, you know, I
told Katie this too. She's upstairs.

Speaker 4 (22:20):
But I said, you know, YouTube, YouTube handled a Tanneled
success in that limelight so well and with class. I mean,
I remember you, Tristed because well you're not. You guys
are both icons. But like I thought about this legacy wise, No, Tristan,
you were the first uple of many.

Speaker 3 (22:34):
That follows you.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
Like it's kind of a morbid thing, Tristed, But you
should know this when you when you did, when you
pass away, someday, right, you're gonna you're gonna be remembered
as the first woman, the first batchsorette.

Speaker 5 (22:47):
And I'm not.

Speaker 4 (22:47):
Wrong here, right, Like you're not gonna be forgotten, which
is like you will be forgotten, Bob, you too, you were.
It's almost like being the president of the United States
or or president for women. You guys have that book,
that place mark in history, which is really cool.

Speaker 3 (23:04):
You know, that's nice. That's nice for you to say that.
I I mean, I hope I would be considered one
of the favorites. Yeah, you know, when you're looking at
the Bachelor's like if you were to say, like favorite bachelor,
like maybe one of the don't know, the top five,
you know that could be possibly voted on for an
award or something like. I would hope that would be potential,
but you never know, I mean, so many things can happen,

(23:24):
you know.

Speaker 4 (23:25):
You know, I don't watch the shows. I don't, in
fact put a bad takes in my mouth to be
perfectly honest. Sure, but I remember you step uh, the
guy Aaron my Era in the Fire still Andrew Fire
Star and then and then you bop.

Speaker 5 (23:39):
That's it.

Speaker 4 (23:40):
I don't really think. I don't really watch it, like
Howard Stern does you know?

Speaker 3 (23:43):
I don't watch it right right?

Speaker 5 (23:45):
But yeah, you were one of the original literally you
guys were obviously the ogs of that franchise.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
Yeah, it's crazy. Yeah, and you guys, you.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
Guys handled with class and you guys are ambassadors and
it's I told Ky, I guess it's it's really really
life is life is chrippy.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
So it's life is trippy.

Speaker 5 (24:07):
It is really nice to meet you guys.

Speaker 4 (24:09):
And you know that I did a favor for you know,
for Amy on the boat. And it's not my job,
you know, I just I just I endorsed Lake Tahoe,
you know, I endorsed it. It's it's a community that
it's a tourist community and I'm glad you had fun.

Speaker 5 (24:24):
I saw some.

Speaker 2 (24:24):
Instagram we had fun.

Speaker 1 (24:26):
Yes, it was great, Thank you so much. The boat
was great. Tahoe is beautiful and.

Speaker 2 (24:33):
We're big fans in this family.

Speaker 5 (24:35):
We're all on the boat and a little bit. And
have you guys, I live.

Speaker 4 (24:38):
I live a stone's throw from Chambers Landing. You guys
looked at Chambers one night? Did you guys go to Chambers.

Speaker 1 (24:43):
I've been there, but I wasn't there that night where
a flight got delayed.

Speaker 3 (24:47):
So I got in super late. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
So Chambers Landing is beautiful, beautiful.

Speaker 4 (24:53):
That's where I live basically, and I don't take it.
I don't take a day for granted and in general,
but living here, it's it's special to live in a
in a.

Speaker 5 (25:01):
Resort town, you know.

Speaker 1 (25:03):
Yeah, I lived in Vail for twenty years, so I
totally totally get it. Very small town, very you know,
resort feel, and I totally get it. So thank you
so much for taking us all out in Detroit.

Speaker 4 (25:20):
I want to met Ryan, I know he was he
was at about and I met Kenyon, who's.

Speaker 5 (25:24):
A wonderful woman.

Speaker 3 (25:26):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (25:27):
Yeah, you hit a home run there, Bob.

Speaker 3 (25:29):
Thanks buddy, yeaes sir, we both did We both did well.
You both did well.

Speaker 4 (25:36):
It Ryan's is as iconic as you two, I mean,
just he is. It's just what it is and it's
a true testament. So it's it's a lot of irony
here with Katie being there, and then twenty five years
later we got married and we're both in our fifties
and late late forties for her and to meet you
guys and to life is really bizarre and tripping, and
I'm really happy to be on and I'm now a

(25:58):
fan of yours. I actually I've been I spin the
Wheel on my podcast. I hope that wheel hits the
OG podcast.

Speaker 3 (26:04):
So thank you.

Speaker 5 (26:06):
Yay.

Speaker 3 (26:17):
Hey, I have a question for you, Jason. So obviously
at that time, you know, you were you were being
considered for for for the next Bachelor role. How did
you how did they tell you that it wasn't going
to be you? Or did you find out when they
announced it after that premiere? Like did you think that
maybe you still had a chance? Like where what were
the what was going through your mind? And how did
you find out? Like what were the mechanics of it

(26:38):
back then?

Speaker 4 (26:39):
You know, I don't I know I know that I wasn't,
but I knew I was. I knew I wasn't because
they told me. I think they said it a different direction.
I also told them about my brother's wedding. It just
but h and about you, as you know, you can't
spill the beans either, right, So right, I'd gone there
and like you know this premiere. Hey, no, but my

(26:59):
New York friend think that they know they knewhim. They
knew I was in Barney rubble trouble with Katie. Uh
and and I couldn't say anything to anybody about anything.

Speaker 5 (27:08):
So I knew going into it that it wasn't the guy.
And but it's okay. Again, you're live and you learn.

Speaker 4 (27:15):
Yeah, I talk a lot like right now, but I've
been I've become a big fan of listening more than
talking since that day.

Speaker 1 (27:22):
Since that day, that's the learning lesson from my experience
with Bachelor Nation.

Speaker 5 (27:29):
God gave me.

Speaker 3 (27:32):
For a reason, right, So I say that to my
boys every single day. I'm like, guys, look, we got
two of these and one of these so yea, let's
cut let's cut the productivity of something in half.

Speaker 4 (27:41):
Yeah, yeah, so you know that, Yeah, that's our Remember
the most and you know, two thousand and two. You
know again, that was twenty three years ago. Technology has
got a lot. I mean, there was an Instagram, it
was there was I guess my Space. Maybe there wasn't
a big social media part. Thank god at that time
for me, I had put up fires locally.

Speaker 2 (28:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (28:06):
I love Lisa Levinson's comment where she's like, he's a
real cast. Iova this guy. I mean she was. They
were playing you up. And I mean we both worked
with Lisa as well on our series, on our seasons
and loved her, you know, and realized the spunk that
she would bring to things, Like she had just a fiery,
you know, approach to things, and I'm sure that had
to kind of help fuel the fire for every half

(28:29):
the things you were saying.

Speaker 5 (28:30):
Yeah for you too as well.

Speaker 4 (28:31):
Did you guys have any rights, rights of refusal or
cuts and stuff? No, whatever they decided, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, boy,
I was that was amazing.

Speaker 3 (28:41):
Anything on the cutting room floor that you were so
thankful didn't make it.

Speaker 4 (28:44):
No, they got an old guy. But I don't say this,
you know, like me running with print in slow motion
like Anthony Ketis from the Chili pepproofs. Yeah, but at
least like the Goldgate bridges, the back of the cool backdrops,
you know.

Speaker 5 (29:01):
Yeah, you know, iconic basketball up the hill, there's cock Tower.

Speaker 4 (29:06):
Okay, great, but it was just what they had the
local ABC crew with me that day in the n
SF my shirtless day, and I kept they they kept
telling them ABC was calling ABC.

Speaker 5 (29:19):
So cow no cale. I kept telling the guy or
the lion, can I put my shirt on?

Speaker 3 (29:23):
Please?

Speaker 1 (29:25):
I mean sorry, yeah, no shirt for you.

Speaker 4 (29:32):
I kept telling them shirt times and not. They just
they just looked, there's a goal. They knew what they wanted, Bob.
They didn't want it, you know.

Speaker 3 (29:39):
I'm sure they did, buddy. You know they need Yeah,
they wanted you, buddy, they want They might not have
wanted you for, you know what you were hoping they
wanted you for, but they they definitely needed you. I
mean you you know you watched that. I was I
was just looking at this. You know. We we've got
some notes about the other guys that were on there
for that. Uh in that episode. Did you ever meet

(30:00):
those guys because you have Let's see, you had an
Air Force captain, yep, you had John the financial consultant
from Pennsylvania, Robert International businessman from New York, Mark Air
Force captain from California. Aaron Bergie of course, who banker,
owned a family in the Midwest and ended up being
the guy. And then of course Jason, at the time

(30:20):
thirty years old, owned an executive search firm living in
San fran And they said, you were looking for a
woman who will love him despite his large bank account. Yeah,
real good.

Speaker 5 (30:32):
I mentioned the Target snack bar for a reason, by
the way.

Speaker 2 (30:36):
Yeah, yes, that was mentioned. I do remember that.

Speaker 4 (30:40):
Yeah, gosh, there are the tapings, you know, we're down
there interviewing all of us.

Speaker 5 (30:44):
It was the Universal Studios. I remember one of the hotels.

Speaker 4 (30:47):
They would shuttle us, you know, in Cotnito between hallways,
so I didn't see any of the guys, you know,
I didn't know.

Speaker 5 (30:52):
I just was in. I was in my little world there,
you know, as you guys probably know.

Speaker 4 (30:56):
They just kind of keep you going through the the
interns make you different places and and that's how that went. So, Yeah,
whoever those guys are, I wish I hope they're all
doing well, you know, Yeah, yeah, behalf of all them.

Speaker 5 (31:09):
You're welcome boys for the distraction on me.

Speaker 3 (31:13):
Gosh, so good. You made it fun, man, Jason, you
made it fun.

Speaker 4 (31:22):
Honestly, Yes, I married the woman of my dreams and
that's I'm not being cheesy. It's Katy was my only woman.
And so it all worked out in a crazy again
that way, like.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
All you Yeah, isn't it crazy? Life has a funny
way of working out? Man?

Speaker 5 (31:38):
It does.

Speaker 4 (31:39):
And you guys, again, I think we have more in
common than just this O G show. And some day
if you ever come out and if I make my
way to Detroit.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
You know, hey, man, everybody cared acts to Detroit. All
roads lead through Detroit somehow, some way.

Speaker 4 (31:54):
Amy Sugarman's brother used to coach for the Lions, and
he lived in Birmingham.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
I know, I know, right near us. Yeah, that's that's
a one city over from where I live.

Speaker 5 (32:02):
Yeah, it was. I spent a couple of nights there.
It was beautiful. It was nice, you know.

Speaker 3 (32:05):
Yeah, And it's even it's even gotten a whole lot
nicer now since you know, they've they've really built up
the area, so it's it's actually pretty beautiful. A lot
of the top chefs want to have restaurants here and
We're like, okay, you could come. We get it. We
weren't your first choice, but we're your choice now. Well, Jason,
thank you so much for joining us. Man, You're a
lot of fun. I'm so glad you had that experience
and that we got to find out about it. And

(32:26):
be honestly, god, I thought at one point, you know,
how easily this could have just been something we never
knew about. And for us to be able to find
out about it on the boat with you and through
through the iHeart team, it was pretty amazing. And I
for one thin you handled yourself very well, so I
won't let anybody pick on you. I think you did
a great job. Yeah, I like you just fight your
large bank account, Oh my gosh.

Speaker 4 (32:46):
And I didn't you know to put your faces. I
just thought that there was a story to tell. And
I want you to know that you're who you were
talking to, who the captain was. It was more than
just your captain, he.

Speaker 3 (32:54):
Was that's right. Yeah. Yeah, I loved it.

Speaker 2 (32:57):
Life A Connections.

Speaker 1 (32:59):
So thanks, thanks so much for coming on the podcast.
We love chatting with you and and like really bringing
back memories for me because I remember watching you on
the show like I remember watching that, not just my announcement,
but I remember you on the show. So thank you,
thank you for coming on the Ogs and and chatting

(33:20):
with us a little bit.

Speaker 5 (33:21):
You have two new fans with TA guys. Thank you
very much.

Speaker 2 (33:24):
Oh great.

Speaker 3 (33:27):
Hello from us. Bye Bob, bye Jason, Thanks.

Speaker 2 (33:30):
Buddy, Bye Jason.

Speaker 3 (33:33):
I'm so glad we had him on. That was fun.

Speaker 1 (33:35):
I know, I love it and I love that we
can chat with people who aren't, you know, just on
the show. And really truly, like I just said, I
do remember him from the show. It may have been
because of all those little comments. I'm trying to find

(33:57):
somebody who loves me despite my banker count.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
But so good.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
I'm glad he like took away something from the experience
that means more than all of this combined. And that's
just you know that that you know, Katie is the
one for him and listening more than talking.

Speaker 3 (34:20):
And yeah, well and I think too. You know something
that I like about him is he has the ability
to laugh at himself, you know, like you and I
do it all the time. And it's like when you
put yourself out there, you gotta if you if you
aren't willing to do that then you're really setting yourself
up for some heartbreak, you know. And it's like for
him to be able to laugh at himself and look

(34:40):
back at that moment and go, oh my god, what
was I thinking? You know, I mean, we've we've all
had those moments, not you know, most people out there
haven't had him play out in front of millions of viewers.
But you know, thankfully, thankfully for us, we did, and
people responded to us in a really nice way. And
you know, I think that's pretty cool that he has
ability to laugh at himself. So good for you, Jason,
and thanks for joining us. We appreciate you.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
Yes, I think they're learning lessons that everyone can can
take from this episode laughing yourself. And I had never
heard that God gave you two ears in one mouth, so,
oh my gush.

Speaker 3 (35:15):
I say it to my boys all the time. I'm like, hey,
what are these my ears? How many too? What's this
my mouth? How many of those one? Why do you
think that.

Speaker 1 (35:22):
Is because the mouth has to be louder in order
to match the two ears.

Speaker 3 (35:29):
Yeah, to believe you in this house, that certainly plays true.

Speaker 1 (35:33):
Yeah, okay, well, thank you everybody for listening. Once again,
Please go to the Almost Famous Instagram page and make
sure you go and vote for the Almost Famous Podcast Awards.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
We cannot wait to hear what goes down and who wins.

Speaker 1 (35:53):
Me me me, please, me, me me pick me?

Speaker 3 (35:55):
Yeah? Can I get the romance thing? Please? Can I
get in there something? I will say this. I love that.
I always have loved this about our friendship is that
you know, sometimes I won't even think you're listening to me,
but I'll just say things and then I'll watch you
just start laughing. And I'm so happy when you get
my jokes. So thank you for always doing that for me.
Oh my god, it's I Half the time I say

(36:17):
things only for you, for you to hear, and apparently
it makes me potting as well, because you know people
see it.

Speaker 2 (36:24):
So I'll take it. I love a little laughter, so
I do too.

Speaker 3 (36:28):
Well. Thank you everyone for listening and we appreciate you. Yes,
make sure you go and vote vote for these very fun,
superlative awards. We can't wait the first annual Almost Famous
Podcast Awards. So I'm very excited. I'm gonna get my
vote and going here too. I'm torn, though, I'm going
to be very torn. I won't lie because I I
I've always said he Andrew Firestone is my favorite Bachelor,

(36:50):
but Ben Higgins is also, and Sean Low. I mean,
there's some pretty good ones on that list. So I'm
I'm a little torn as to where I'm going to
go with my voting, but i will vote. You know,
you have to vote. You got to be heard.

Speaker 2 (37:01):
I want to be heard. Okay, bye everybody.
