Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the almost famous podcast with iHeartRadio. Hi everybody,
this is Trista with the almost Famous OJI podcast. And
unfortunately Bob can't be here today, but I had to
take the reins because I could not, of course, allow
for this interview to not happen with Joan and Chalk.
Hi guys, congratulations.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
I'm so excited. I mean, I of course have talked
to Joan, but Hi Chalk, it's so nice to meet
you officially. Oh well, right back at you. Welcome officially,
not officially, because you've been part of it for you know,
however long you guys were filming. But to our big

(00:43):
crazy Bachelor Nation family, I love having you as part
of it.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
He's a great addition, let me tell you.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
He is a great addition. Oh my gosh, are you
guys having so much fun today?

Speaker 3 (00:53):
We are?

Speaker 4 (00:54):
Yeah, yeah, well, you know, at the end of the day,
we're hopping on a plane and going to New York.
So this has been a great The press store has
been a may and we've talked to everybody. We're so
happy to be on with you because you and I
go way back. But the rest of this weekend is
just about us having fun.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Okay, So how is it going. How has it been
being out in public for the first time. I guess
you've had a couple days now, how is it? How
is it? How's it going?

Speaker 5 (01:20):
It's a complete different lifestyle than what I was ever expecting.
After the finale, we came, they moved us to a
new hotel, and Jon's getting out of the vehicle and
these two ladies go.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
I know who you are.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
We're fans.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
We're fans, so uh.

Speaker 5 (01:33):
It's actually great to just get on with our What
we want is a normal life and you probably went
through that as well. But we're you know, We're want
to spend time with family, we want to go out
to dinner, we want to.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
Just the first time ever, we rode in a car
together yesterday and we did a lot of press yesterday.
So like last night was the first time we were
really kind of out together and we went out to dinner.
We just had a normal dinner with some of his
friends that were in town for the finale. And like
today we're going to get on an airplane together and
like actually be able to be on the same airplane
and maybe even sit together. I'll probably fall asleep on

(02:06):
his shoulder. We have a long ride to New York City.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
Oh, I love it. And are you guys going apartment
shopping or condo shopping or house shopping or yes?

Speaker 3 (02:15):
On Monday, Joan has it?

Speaker 1 (02:17):
You love it?

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Snilter Monday.

Speaker 4 (02:20):
Yeah, we're just gonna enjoy the weekend and then Monday
we're gonna get to work and see what we can find.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
I am so excited for you. I know when we talked, Joan,
you were so excited to be able to start your
life together. And this is amazing. I'm I'm just so
happy for you. And of course I don't know if
you did you watch the episode talk as it was
happening episode this season, the whole season. Did you watch

(02:48):
the season?

Speaker 5 (02:49):
We did watch it, well, we watched together. One we
watched the disney Land and after Disneyland it was all over.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
It didn't make any.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Different Tay together.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
But the other day the other the rest of it
watched on his own. Yes, And I would talk to
him using them, like what did you think? Because it's
hard to watch, you know, me date other people. But
he's always been like super confident, so we never had
any problems. But we got to watch the Disneyland date together,
which was really fun because whoever gets to watch like
their first date unfold in front of them and watch
it on tay.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Yeah, it's true. So, Chuck, I don't know if you
know my history, but I met my husband Ryan on
the show, and we've been married. We'll be married twenty
one years in December. And we watched the finale together, right,
so we're gonna do Good Morning America press, you know,
all the press in the morning the night the next day,
and we're watching the finale and he had stopped watching

(03:37):
the episodes after a certain point because he was like,
I just I just don't like watching it. You know,
why would I watch it? I know what happens. So
we're watching in the hotel room, and you know, they
made it seem like I was going to pick the
other guy, because of course they have to, you know,
make it, you know, surprising. And he turned to me
in our hotel room and he goes, so are you

(04:00):
going to pick Charlie? Is there like someone going to
open the door.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
He thought that was so impossible. That shows how cute
and innocent he is.

Speaker 5 (04:11):
All the benefit that I had, Christa is that I
knew the guys so well, you know, and if she
was going to date someone, at least I knew and
they were friends, so it made it. You know, some
of it you just don't want to see, but it
is part of it, and john't have it. It was so
much class. And there was one time it bothered me
a little bit. One of the guys came back from

(04:33):
a date and he was just glowing, just absolutely glowing.
And you know, I feel like I had this connection
I thought I did, and I'm going maybe it wasn't
as strong as I thought it was, but you know, it.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
All worked out.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
It all worked out. It always does, right. So is
there anything that didn't get aired on the show that
you wish would have been shown? For whatever reason?

Speaker 3 (04:57):
I thought.

Speaker 5 (04:59):
I thought they did a great job, especially when my
mother passed, And I want to give kudoos out to
ABC because they handled it with dignity and respect for
me one hundred percent. The one thing with me, because
the connection with Joan, I wish they could have shown
a little bit more of the relationship I had with
the guys.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
Yeah, but you know.

Speaker 5 (05:18):
They've only have so many hours to film and all that,
and I was on the show a lot. But the
guys we great relationships. And with this party that we
had after the finale, we had eight of the guys
there and then six of the ladies from the Golden
Bachelor's show that were there, So you know, we're all
friends and it's just part of the journey. But you know,

(05:40):
it's still a TV show. We all keep in contact,
the guys, and I thought they did a really good
job of putting it together.

Speaker 4 (05:45):
Yeah. Yeah, you know, you know how much film that
they have, it's just you know, fifteen hours a day.
You know, I think that Bachelor Nation doesn't realize how
hard it is and how long the days are.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
We all, you know, we all look fresh.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
And you know, like we just got out of bed
and we had a good night's sleep.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
You know how hard the journey.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
You have a lot of sleepless nights because you're dealing
with a lot of emotions, and they're late nights anyway,
and then you're getting up early. And I don't think
anybody realizes how difficult it is. And I'm not sure
that makes good TV, but I think that you know,
there's as you know, there's a lot of social media
and you get a lot of hits from people, and
I don't think anybody realizes how hard.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
It was doing it.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
And you know, you have the emotional side, You're tired,
you're missing your family. How you don't have the support
from you know, the outside people, you're friends and family
that you normally have. Nobody sees any of that and
they don't get you know, like, what a difficult journey
this really is?

Speaker 1 (06:38):
Totally I agree. I feel like I fell asleep on
more dates than I didn't like, fell asleep.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
I love that.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
That's hilarious because I was so exciting that.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Were exhausted.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
I mean, I do, really I do. It's funny because
Ryan and I went to SeaWorld on a day and
I remember I was in the limo and I literally
fell asleep in his lap. I love that able to
do that. You need to do that tonight you can
go to New York and fall asleep and on his

(07:14):
shoulder on the plane. I love it. What are you
guys doing for the holidays?

Speaker 5 (07:18):
Going to Maryland both Thanksgiving and Christmas? And with my
kids living on the East Coast, that's going to be
the best and the easiest place for us.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
And all meet.

Speaker 5 (07:26):
So we're looking forward to it. We're going to have
all of Jones family my family there. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
My kids are so excited about hanging out with his kids.
Like this concept of having like step brother and sister
is really fun.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
And they've already connected a lot. They talk. The girls
definitely talk.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
My two my two daughters and his daughter have found
like a love of shopping and dirty Martini.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
So they're looking.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
Forward to me. That is awesome. Where are your kids?
How far are they from where Joan lives.

Speaker 5 (07:56):
They're in Charlotte. And actually this one really shown on
the show is I have a brother and sister in
law and nephew that live in DC area, So you
know that there was a connection there right away.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
So I mean, you know, uh, he has more than
one person to come see when he comes to Maryland.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
That's right. And you guys are going to keep Are
you going to keep your houses in Maryland and Kansas?

Speaker 2 (08:17):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
I mean, you know, I have kids and grandkids there.
You know I'm not leaving them, and he has a
business and a million friends there. Even though his kids
have left, he's still he still has a life in Kansas.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
So you know, I'm looking forward to going there.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
I never thought i'd uther those worlds that I'm dying
to go to Kansas, but I am.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
It'll be fun.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
So have you made your plans for when you're going
to visit Disney Worlds?

Speaker 3 (08:39):
Not yet.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Yeah, you know, that's a lot of logistics. We have
big families.

Speaker 4 (08:43):
I have three grandkids, you know, with his kids also, Yeah,
that's a that's going to be a logistical nightmare that
I will work out.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
Yeah, but we can't.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
You know, I'm thinking maybe spring breakish because you know,
Boomer's in school. That's why I can't just take him
out my grandson, So spring break time, like, it feels
like that might be the best time.

Speaker 5 (09:00):
But then we're gonna have to schedule two weeks prior
to where we can just sleep and rest up.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
It is Disney World, you know, and with grandkids.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
It's going to be hectic.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
It will be hectic, but I'm sure you both will
embrace it. It's just gonna be so much fun, like
so much joy. That place is full of joy. One
trick that I have for Disney is you just throw
the rules out the window. And this is more for
your kids, but and for their kids. Throw the rules
out the window and just give them as much sugar
as they can handle.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
You know, they're going to be tired at the end
of the day no matter what. Because it's Disney World,
so it doesn't matter. Yeah, Mountain Dew, Mountain Dew and mountain.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
And all the like Mickey, uh, you know, the the
things that are shaped like Mickey, like the ice cream
cones and all of it.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
Everything is shaped like Mickey. I love it. Okay.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
So they did not cover this on the after the
final rows of the finale, which was fine, but a
lot of people are talking. Bob and I were talking
about it after your finale for who you think would
be the next Golden Bachelor if they end up doing
Golden Bachelor. What are your thoughts who would you want

(10:18):
to nominate.

Speaker 5 (10:20):
We're both in agreement to this, Trista, that there's eight
guys that you could put in a hat and pull
out a name. I don't really think there's a front runner.
Everyone has their unique personalities and you know their skill
sets and their love language and all that. You've got
Charles l who America absolutely loves love absolutely. You've got

(10:43):
Mark who is just the best man in the worst
The issue there though, he's now in a relationship at
least been reported.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Is that's his story. Yeah, And you've got.

Speaker 5 (10:54):
Jordan with his personality, You've got the flamboyant Pascal. You
have all these unique personalities. Doctor would be a hoot.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
Oh, he's so sad and hilarious.

Speaker 5 (11:03):
And Jack was at the party. Everyone has fun with
Jack and Keith, the girl dad, everybody. He might be
embarrassed that I say this nationally, but he was out
with my daughter till like four o'clock in the morning
the other night, after the party, after.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
The party, was after the finally he was out, Like
you know.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
There was a big group of them, was just situable people,
but he was like the last man standing when it
come to the when it came to the goldens.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Yes, that is so cute. Oh my gosh. It makes
me so jealous because you know, Joan and I were
talking about whether or not I would be able to
come to the finale, and I'm so sorry I couldn't
be there, but you know, mommy duty calls and and
I wish I could have been there, and I would
have stayed out until four am with with Jack and
your daughter and.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Keith and Taylor. I know it was fun. It was
a fun night. I had a hard time coming home.

Speaker 4 (11:53):
I would have stayed out til four am, but we
had to I had to be up at five thirty
for Graham Squad because we had press all day, so
I wouldn't have been very pretty if I hit it out.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Okay, what are your freaking beauty secrets? Because my yours
just stunning? And I say this all the time. I
am fifty two years old, you're sixty one years old.
I'm not too far behind you, but I feel like
you look younger than me. So what are your secrets?
Can you share anything?

Speaker 3 (12:31):
I appreciate you asking me. Yes, it's really important.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
No mine, let's be serious. Botox and piller okay, so yeah, right,
me too. You always see me after I've had LAMB Squad,
so really good makeup.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
Let's be honest. There it is that's out there.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
Now, glam Squads. And you know what else? Lighting? Lighting
is a glass best friend?

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Yeah didn't light? I look so much better?

Speaker 1 (13:02):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (13:03):
Oh yeah, yeah, I'm beautiful and candlelight.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
So what is one surprising thing that you've learned about
each other after the show has ended or after filming ended?

Speaker 2 (13:17):
Do you want me to start. Well, the good thing
is he doesn't snore.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
Okay, that's a bonus.

Speaker 4 (13:22):
That's yeah, Thank goodness. I learned about like what a
caregiver he is. And you know, it's hard to find
out certain things on the show. There's no you know,
way that it would be exemplified.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
But I found out really early on.

Speaker 4 (13:36):
We were having a conversation and I was, you know,
concerned about something that was happening with one of my kids.
And next thing I know, I'm getting text from him
and calls and saying, you know, he's like solved it.
You know, he's called on his resources and made a
couple of calls and all of a sudden, like wheels
are in motion and he's fixed it. And he's such
a caregiver and solver. I had to do some work.

(13:58):
We were on a happy couple of visit and I'd
do a little work that day for a bachelor and
I came back to the house and he's standing there
with a glass of wine in the driveway and he's
made the art whole dinner for us that night. So
he's just like such a giver and a care giving
you know, like a solver and a fixer.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
And he just wants to take care of me. And
I love that. I love it.

Speaker 5 (14:18):
I will tell you that I knew Joan was smart,
but she's actually almost MEDSA smart or MENSA smart. She
is that smart. Absolutely. And then the other thing too,
is I caught some flak on the show for being competitive.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Okay, she is.

Speaker 5 (14:34):
I'm at this level of competitiveness.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
I was.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
I was so surprised.

Speaker 5 (14:39):
And it actually happened last night at the restaurant because
we were talking about it. But the two ladies are
calling their ubers, what goes Mine's coming in five minutes,
Mine's coming at four.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
That's kind Before I beat you, I was kidding, it was.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
It was all It was all fun. But she is competitive,
very yeah.

Speaker 5 (14:56):
I know.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
My kids used to say, they're like, you never let
us win. I'm like, letting you win?

Speaker 1 (15:00):
Why would I let you win?

Speaker 2 (15:02):
Man, That's how you become a good athlete or you
know whatever.

Speaker 1 (15:05):
It's right. I wouldn't mom teaching you anything? Is your mom?
That's so funny. Okay. So, because I was the first
to have a wedding on television, I have to ask
the question, would you consider televising your wedding?

Speaker 2 (15:21):
Would you recommend it.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
I would actually I love that question. Yes, So obviously,
you know, with what happened with Gary and Theresa, I
know that it's kind of like and that was the
most recent one. You know, there's not bad vibes because
it was such a beautiful day and hopefully people would

(15:45):
just remember that beautiful you know, it was a beautiful day.
It was truly about love and even just Bachelor Nation
coming together. I just I loved their wedding. I would
say that for me, it was a dream come true.
So the princess and you Joan, and I know that

(16:05):
princess is there, would thoroughly enjoy, you know, being able
to be like, Okay, who would I want my dress
done by oh Badly Mishka. Okay, great, we'll make that happen,
you know, like I'd love to work with Mindy Weiss.
In my real world before that, there was no way
I was ever going to be working with Mindy Weiss

(16:25):
or getting addressed from Badly Mishka. So it is like
dreams coming true situation for the princess in you. Now. Obviously,
if cameras were a problem with you, Chaka, I know
they're not a problem with Joan. Because she's you know,
a pro, and we've talked about it, you know, live
through it, and because I was a lead, I know

(16:46):
how that goes. But if cameras are a problem, then
maybe it's not for you. If the publicity is a problem,
maybe it's not for you. But I feel like it's
a beautiful way to shout it from the rooftops, you know,
like you can still do that in a private way.
But it is a once in a lifetime thing that
not everyone gets to experience it, So why not you know,

(17:07):
have fun with it, and yeah, and take.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
It like as a viewer.

Speaker 4 (17:12):
So I watched your season many many years ago, like
probably the first one I actually watched. I remember like
how important it was to see the ending and that
you guys actually got married. I can remember the moment, honestly.
I you know, I watched very few weddings. I watched
Princess Diana. You know, I've watched you know, it's just
a few big ones. Yours, Yours is up there with

(17:34):
Princess Diana. I actually, you know, tuned in specifically to
watch you get married. And I think that that is
kind of a kind of part of the journey that
people have watched us come to this point and then
to like leave him at the curb and not do
the wedding in front of them might not be the
right thing to do. You know this part of me
that also thinks I want it to be an intimate
moment with just our family and friends. But the other

(17:56):
part of me, the princess part of me, thinks like
this big epic wedding would be really fun and it's
also maybe the right thing to do for vaccination.

Speaker 5 (18:02):
Yeah, how do you feel chap when wear suit or tucks?

Speaker 1 (18:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (18:13):
Totally.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
My husband, he's like, I don't want to be part
of anything. I just just tell me where to be
and what to wear. You're so same. So would you
do a live if you did the wedding on television,
that's one thing. But a live wedding, which is something
that I did not have. What how do you feel
about that? Because it's like in the moment and you know,

(18:37):
I don't know, there's got to be some stress associated
with that.

Speaker 2 (18:40):
Yeah, I didn't know that it was a choice not
to do it live. I thought they were.

Speaker 1 (18:45):
Always none and actually not most of them. I don't think.
I don't think Sean and Catherine's I don't think theirs
was live. Maybe maybe I'm wrong, Maybe I'm wrong, Maybe
I'm wrong. I could totally be.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
I don't know the benefit of live versus not. Like not,
life probably sounds easier, it sounds less intimidating. There's another take.
You know, you're not live TV, as you know, is scary.
You know what you put out there is there forever right,
So yeah, I would say taped with malfunction.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
It's out there, it's done.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
All we're seeing it now. So I think tape probably
sounds more comfortable. But maybe live, since this whole journey
has been live, maybe it's like less. Well it's not
really live, so it's you know, it's a it's a
tape show.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
Yeah, I don't know. You have no idea. That's a
good question. I didn't know as an option, so I
got to think about that.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
Oh yeah, okay, So when you answered yes on a wedding,
you thought it was just going to be live period. Yeah.
Who would you want to have your dress done by?

Speaker 2 (19:42):
Probably Randy Rahm, so she's done. Yes, of course, all
my all the Rosera Money dresses and even others. As
I wore. Yes, I love Randy Ram. She actually came
to the finale.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
Yes, that's awesome.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
Rely, so I oh god, it would be a dream
to come true to have a Randy rom dress for me.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
She does make BEAUTI full downs. All of everything that
you wore was just stunning. Other than you finding chalk, obviously,
I'm that's up there, top top of the list, but
I'm sure wearing Randy rams Gorgeous Creations is up there too.
Did you get to keep anything?

Speaker 2 (20:17):
Not any of any Randy Ram stuff?

Speaker 4 (20:19):
I mean that's like like beautiful catore expensive crazy stuff.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
Yeah, I haven't. I haven't kept anything yet, but I hear.

Speaker 4 (20:27):
That sometimes you get to they offer you some of
the clothing that you were on this season. So I
haven't gotten any yet, but you know, we'll see what happens, hope.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
Too.

Speaker 4 (20:34):
Everything everything that the stylist putting put me in is
like one hundred times better than anything I own.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
So I loved it all.

Speaker 1 (20:41):
I don't know, I don't think a hundred times better.
Your fashion sense is immaculate, so yeah, I wouldn't say that,
but Carrie Fetman is a genius.

Speaker 2 (20:51):
So there's you're not.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
All right, guys, So I have to wrap I loved
talking to you. I'm so, so so happy to welcome
you to the happy couple side of the show. And
I can't wait for the wedding.

Speaker 4 (21:11):
Thank you, you'll be there, You'll be with us.

Speaker 5 (21:14):
It was very enjoyable for me to just sit here

Boysober

Boysober

Have you ever wondered what life might be like if you stopped worrying about being wanted, and focused on understanding what you actually want? That was the question Hope Woodard asked herself after a string of situationships inspired her to take a break from sex and dating. She went "boysober," a personal concept that sparked a global movement among women looking to prioritize themselves over men. Now, Hope is looking to expand the ways we explore our relationship to relationships. Taking a bold, unfiltered look into modern love, romance, and self-discovery, Boysober will dive into messy stories about dating, sex, love, friendship, and breaking generational patterns—all with humor, vulnerability, and a fresh perspective.
