Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Ben and Ashley I almost Famous podcast
with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Bob Getty here almost Famous the Ogs. We are back.
We're still at the almost famously average Golf outing famously
first the first Annual. I'm assuming first annual in San Francisco.
We're kind of in San Francisco. We're outside of San Francisco,
but we're going to wine country today. We're gonna be
at wenty Vineyards.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
We get to play and drink.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
We get to play and drink, and I've heard they
have some great wines, so I'm very excited about that.
So I'm here with Susan Knowles from of course The
Golden Bachelor, and we have become buddies over the years.
Speaker 4 (00:37):
This is not even our first time in San fran together.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
But you know, I've been seeing each other for a minute.
Speaker 4 (00:41):
We've been seeing each other for a hot minute. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Yeah, But I wanted to talk to you about something
I've never asked you about. And I was so excited
when I saw you doing it and you were partner
with my friend Jenny Garth, and it was the qbcis
Quintessential Women, And tell me about it.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
I want to hear.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Fifty yes, about And you know, it's funny because when
we got off the show, that was our message to
all ladies. I was really saying over sixty, but you
know there was a few under six.
Speaker 4 (01:11):
Which I didn't know until last night when we were
talking about.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
That point is some people feel invisible. Some people feel
like they have nothing left. They raised their kids, their grandkids,
and they're just sitting at home. There's so much out there.
And when I joined the Q fifty, it's the age
of opportunity that says it in a nutshell. So I
stayed with the same theme coming off the show and
(01:34):
it just fit right in. Isn't that something Jenny, It's
just a doorable.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
Isn't she sweet?
Speaker 3 (01:38):
Yes, she just put out her new lines, said me,
all kinds of pretty things.
Speaker 4 (01:42):
Oh that's so cool.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
Yeah, she's so great and I've always I've always been
I used to have the biggest crush on her of
course growing up, and then loved, you know, as I
started Actually, when Amy Sugarman started calling me to do
podcast stuff with her, I would fill in for Tory
and Jay and you know, do their nine or two
one oh stuff, and you know we're always kind of like,
you know, connecting in that regard. We had tons of
(02:05):
mutual friends and then, and it was just so fun
to see you out there with her.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
I'm like, oh my god, I love this.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
You know what I love best? Her voice. Yeah, it's
so I'm loud, I'm George, But I love talking to
her because I feel like I lower mind just a
little bit.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Well, she makes it like you're having this intimate conversation. Yes,
even if there's fifty people in the room.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
It Yeah, so pretty good she is.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
She's I'm happy for I am too. Well, I'm happy
for you. I thought that was such a cool honor.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Yes, I mean doing a lot with QVC.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
Yeah, so what else are you doing?
Speaker 2 (02:36):
I mean I even read something today that have you
been doing things on air with them as well?
Speaker 3 (02:40):
Now? The first one I felt like a fish out
of water. The second one, It's funny. I had a wedding. First,
I was officiating a wedding, and then we don't go
on till ten o'clock at night, So I was made up,
did a wedding outdoors. I was sweating. I get there
and they put more makeup on me, and I was like,
oh god, I saw myself on on the TV. I
was like, I looked the hot mess.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
It's brutal when you feel that way, because even though
I'm sure you looked great, you can't get.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
It out of your head.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
You know. Yeah, I've had a couple of experiences like that,
and I started getting to the point. I had always
heard that George Clooney would only let them put powder
on him right after a while.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
And so I started doing that.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
I always go hold on, hold on, hold on before
you the sweat, yeah, because I don't want to look
like a clown up here. You know, I got I
got that down already. I'm already come out as a cloud.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
So November tenth, there's a good day for me for
QBC is with my line?
Speaker 4 (03:35):
Oh no, kidding, tell me about it. I guess are
we allowed to talk about it?
Speaker 3 (03:40):
They were on Golden Bachelor, They were on the show
I just filmed that you could look for on Hulu
in January. Mimi's Meatballs.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
Oh my gosh, how exciting.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
So I'm hoping I'm tasting different things right now.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
And so will you be part of the whole process?
How are you going to be part of the like
you choose the ingredients? Like how how invested.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
Are you going to be on this? So I had two.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
I wanted them rolled because I have a bad shoulder
and I hate rolling meatballs, especially when I do my
wedding soup, I make like two hundred little meatbolls.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
So that was my thought. Well, I got to taste
the rolled ones. They don't look like meat, yeah, and
they were scary, but they tasted okay. Then I got
a meatball mixed the veal, beef and pork and all
my ingredients. It was way better, much more money. But
they won't roll. Okay, So I'm in the lemons.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
So you're gonna figure that part out. Yeah, it's got
to be a way.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
I know.
Speaker 4 (04:39):
I don't figure heatballs meet.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
I mean Mimi's meat really.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
Come on, you know what I think on board?
Speaker 2 (04:47):
You know what we'll do is we'll take the next
the next uh, you know, a crop of people and
before they can you know, get a podcast or do
tooth whitening.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
Strips, they got to roll some meatballs. Or maybe I
should do laundwear one.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
Of the other kids out what of the other name's loungewear?
I like about or do a combo pack and I'll
get some lounge wear and some.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
I've had some fabulous, fabulous opportunities. Oh, I'm sure the
show it's been great.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
Well, you know I was saying it to Kathy and
Kathy was on too, and I know you guys have
Golden hours.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
Your is your podcast? Yes, yes, and.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
But you guys have both had so much fun. It
had to feel really good to just have kind of
America talk back to you and.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
Be like, hey, we really like you. I want to
see more of you. You know, you get some such.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Good things people say, and then you also get those
ugly things.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Oh sure, yeah, yeah, I was talking about that earlier.
I was told some great advice once and this is
it was an over piece of op advice, and she said,
you know, the people who have the negative things to
say are people who are commenting on you living your life. Right,
So like, when you think about it, how often are
you sitting at home going, man, I need to comment
(05:54):
on how that person's living.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
Yeah, let me take three hours and trash people I'm talking.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
And so you know, that's a certain point.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
There's a certain blend of people that are doing it,
and they're going to do it to somebody else. So
my thought process says, hey, come at me, because I'm
strong enough to handle it.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
Leave the other people alone, right, So I'll.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
Share my energy. That's what this is about, too. Yeah,
I've motivated people, like it's amazing how many people write
to me and say, you know that I'm changing them.
They're shutting up, they're walking, they're doing whatever. Yeah, that's
what it's about.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Well, I like what you said about how you feel
like some people feel like they reach a certain age
and they become invisible. And you know, my mom is
seventy eight and she has always been the life of
the party, the bell of the ball.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
And my dad passed away, and so.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
You take after your mom.
Speaker 4 (06:49):
Yeah, yeah, I really did.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
My dad passed away, and I've been so worried about
my mom because she's not engaging the way that she
always has in the past, and I.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
Want her to d eight.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
She's died, I know, I know, but she's always just
been this bundle of energy and she still has moments,
you know, And I'm always in But my sister, yeah,
we do.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
A few and far between as we I feel it.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
I know I feel it too. I'm fifty three, and
I feel like you have.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
A little one, so that keeps you.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
I got a five year on the three year old.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
I got up early in the gym this morning and
I was like, okay, I gotta ge get back to
the boys.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
Got up and went to the gym.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
I had to work, Yeah, I had to.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
Only it's a it's a new thing I'm trying to
do because I figured, you know, I was I was
fortunate enough to have these kids later in life.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
But I don't. I don't want to use as an excuse.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
I want to be the guy that's actually there for
them later in their lives, you know. And so I've
got to make that commitment now, which I will be honest,
I wasn't making it for many years. I was just
sort of like I played football in college. I'm in
kind of good shape. I'm just let it go.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
I got on the floor and stretched this morning, so
I don't hurt myself to that.
Speaker 4 (07:54):
That's not really working. Well, that's that's that's prepping. That's
prep work.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
Now, do you much of you? Well this year, not
so much. I've been playing the better part of ten years. Okay,
and you know you love it. You get one good.
Speaker 4 (08:09):
Shot tell it's an addictive sport.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
And I can't break one hundred. I've gotten closed one
hundred for several times, one hundred and six and then
the wheels off. I've only gone twice, only nine holes twice.
I was embarrassed. I forgot everything.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Well, it is a game that if you're not, if
you're not, you have to be working on it.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
You're gonna go to play at least once a week,
sometimes twice a week. And I was getting better, yeah,
and then I got busy.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
Well, today's your day.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
It is because you imagine if you come away with
the trophy. I'm sure that they have an amazing trophy.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
I will be happy to get one.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Par Yeah, you know, managing expectations, right, I'm like, I
want a trophy.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
First of all, I'm not gonna win.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
I'm not gonna win the trophy because Ben will win that.
Speaker 4 (08:52):
So that parts out. So maybe second place.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
We were playing best ball or what are we doing?
Speaker 4 (08:57):
I have a feeling this is we could drive the ball.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
The structure of the entire contest I believe is up
to us.
Speaker 4 (09:02):
I haven't been given a lot.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
Of Wait, can I just share something? And this is
kind of embarrassing, but I think everybody will love this.
So for years when I played and I'm not a
great putter, but I get it like inches, nigga, Oh
that's a gimme. Not even inches, maybe twelve inches, that's
a gimme. I go, oh great, and I'd pick it up.
I never counted it.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
Oh my god, I did not count that.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
And somebody said something and they go, you don't have that.
I guess I do. That was a gimme.
Speaker 4 (09:27):
She goes, what do you think a gimme is count
the show?
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Yeah, so you look at the golf club right, and
where the grip of the golf club starts on your
putter right supposedly in the leather. You can take it right,
so you don't have And that's just to try and move.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
On the pace of the game. But I made the
same mistake. So I would go up there.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
I'd be on in three right and I'm probably gonna
two put this thing, and they go go ahead, you know,
we'll give you that. When I'm like, great, three, I'm
under three, and they're like, no, dude, you still got
to count it, like you know, we're giving.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
You a one. We're counted that. I cheat it fro well,
I don't think it's intentionial.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
You and I might both be guilty of that because
I don't think that that was cheating. I think that
was someone didn't instruct us on the proper picking up skills.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
And then one more question about golf.
Speaker 3 (10:10):
Yeah, so I forget what it's called, like you have
the worst shot your first shot? Yeah, no, no, no, I'm
going to take this.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
A breakfast ball, a breakfast so we do get a
breakfast ball.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
We do.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
I can't play without it.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
How many do we get?
Speaker 2 (10:24):
Well, like one per game? Yes, not per hole? Now
we go one per whole. I could like this place
on fire today. I might, I might really do something great.
But I think I think it's technically your first drive
that we all get too off that first tee because
it's the first drive.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
Of the day. That's usually my best drive. Yeah, this
is the one time I don't need to drive, all right.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
What's your favorite club in your What stick do you
like the best?
Speaker 4 (10:50):
I'm big on my wedges.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Okay, so if I can get in and around the green,
I feel like I can actually get it done, you know,
But anywhere else.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
I'm going to have a go to.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
Like you in trouble, what's your go to, like, mine's
my seven iron.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
Yeah, seven iron is the one.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
I'm not even going to try to make it. Just
get out of the crap and get.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Back on the say, mine's probably my eight iron, Okay, Yeah,
I go to my eight iron line. Yeah, I love
my seven iron two. But I have the tendency to
skull that thing once in a while and I get
all pissed off.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
Eight iron.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
It's got a natural little wedge like off to it,
So I get all excited about that. Now for you,
right now with the weddings and everything else you got
going on, are you just flying all over the place?
Speaker 4 (11:29):
Are you constantly on the road?
Speaker 3 (11:30):
One of them are drivable. They're by me. Although I've
been invited to marry two men out in Lake Tahoe.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
We were talking about this because that's where we had
that The Sugarman's Sweet, and we both had to miss
that one. So that's going to be so great. Are
you doing calendar?
Speaker 3 (11:46):
Tell me way in advance so I could book this. Yeah,
and today my life. If it's not on the calendar,
it's not happening, right.
Speaker 4 (11:54):
Yeah's crazy? No, Well, you know what, good things happen
to good people?
Speaker 3 (11:58):
Seven I thought i'd be like easy streets.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
You're ramping it up. Well, you look great. A little
birdie told me today that you're juggling. You're juggling. Uh,
you know some love interests.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
I don't know. Are we talking about that on the
air today?
Speaker 3 (12:16):
Can we say love you're juggling.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
Some lust interests, No, some like interests. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
I dated somebody you go to dinner once in a while.
He's got some his things. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (12:29):
Yeah, so you haven't.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
He's relationship material.
Speaker 4 (12:34):
He's hanging out material.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
That's fine, and that's cool too, That's fine, but I'm open.
Speaker 4 (12:38):
Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
Okay, just making sure I don't want any of our
listeners to think you're off the market. Okay, all right,
well you heard it here first, My girl season still
on the market.
Speaker 3 (12:49):
I don't want a lust relationship. They are fun, but
I just want to be in love and share my
rest of.
Speaker 4 (12:55):
My life right now.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
Well, I think you got a lot of chapter is
best chafter That's right. My friend, that little birdie who
told me that might read like fifty books a year sometimes,
and she, you know, she kind of knows you, so
I think she might know what she's talking about, well,
she tries.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
To tell me what to do every day.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
I'm sure you guys are such a you guys are
like a power cuple.
Speaker 4 (13:18):
I love the two of you together.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
We can fight, we can cry, we could yeah, and
then you always hogging it out and having fun. And
that's the biggest thing.
Speaker 4 (13:26):
Just shut up.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
That's what I loved about last night. We were all
talking too. We had all through all. We have the
three amigos up there in the show. That was all
her own she did. She's like, it's time to shine,
and she shut up. She has to learn, right, she
has to. She got to insert yourself.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
If you chance with us, it's stark. We have so
much fun together.
Speaker 4 (13:49):

Speaker 3 (14:04):
It was so fun watching Kathy's face when her son
admitted to doing things in her house. Oh but he
was young.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
I'm gonna I'm gonna have to dial that one up.
