Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
with on our radio.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Hey, Almost Famous listeners, we love you so much. You've
been so good to us for the last I don't
know decade, and we're so thankful for your support, your involvement.
And we have something really fun that we're gonna do
for the first time. And there's not a lot of
firsts on the show, Ashley's there's a very few things
(00:26):
that we can do for the first time, but this
is the first time we're doing an Almost Famous Awards.
We're looking back at Bachelor history, Bachelor and Bachelorette history,
and voting upon some of the most iconic, most epic,
most memorable moments in the franchise.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Yes, so some of these categories include the worst line
ever said, the biggest villain, the best makeout, best love
triangle in Paradise, Favorite Bachelorette. We got a lot of
categories and it's very fun. It's you know, multiple choice,
so you don't have to come with anything from the
top of your head. Because so voting is going to
(01:05):
be open for the next thirty days, so you can
cast your votes now. How to cast your vote? Listen carefully,
go to our socials. It's at almost underscore famous on Instagram.
And then you're going to find the link to cast
your vote on our website. You do have to enter
your email address. That way we can make sure the
votes are legit and they're not from bots. And along
(01:26):
the way, we'll be bringing you some conversations with the nominees.
We will reveal your winners after voting has closed. Ben,
why don't you and I do one category vote together
right now?
Speaker 2 (01:39):
Deal, I'm in it again. Voting is open for the
next thirty days, so cast your votes now. Don't forget
about it. Here's how this happens. You are going to
close out the podcast. You're gonna be like, oh, vote
tonight when life is less busy, and you're gonna forget
and so go right away. It's easy cast your votes, Ashley.
I think you get to pick a cat. I'll pick
(02:01):
a category. I'm gonna pick for you to answer the
best love triangle?
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Okay, best love triangle in Paradise? Would it be Dean,
Christina and Danielle ll That was a good one, Cat,
John Henry and Olivia. No, scratch that out. Nobody's thinking
about that one. Blake Hortsman Christina Kaylin. Then you're gonna
squeeze in Hannah Godwin and Dylan in there. I wouldn't
(02:30):
say that. I would say it's really between Blake and
Christina and Kaylen. This good one. I'm gonna say probably
Blake's because Blake's was fiery. Blake's love Triangle got people
freaking talking and mad. What do you vote?
Speaker 2 (02:51):
I'll go Blake's too. I do think it's the most
memorable to me. And it lasted the longest, meaning it
like lasted outside of paradise.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
It felt like exactly it's.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
The best or the worst, but it was something.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Okay, wait, okay, let's go with this one. Let's just
play one more category. Best facial expressions. Does it go
to me? Does it go to Hakim? Does it go
to Justin Glaze or McKenna Dorn. McKenna I was from
Pilot Pede season. If you guys don't remember, she had
good facial expressions. But I'm gonna give this to Justin Glaze.
(03:27):
I think he's the most famous for his bugged out
eyes and big, massive expressions.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
It's got to be Justin Glaze. I mean, I think, honestly,
it goes Justin Hakeem than You, the McKenna. It's gonna
be fun. Tons of categories, tons of moments. Just I
enjoyed looking back on some of these categories, remembering some
of these iconic moments. So make sure you go to
our social media click on the link, fill out your votes.
You have thirty days to do.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
It, all right. Well, before we jump into the recap
for the week, I would like to say thank you
Ben for taking over for me for a lot recently,
a lot. You did so many interviews I'm not I'm
glad that you will be having your vacation in a
(04:14):
week and you're going for two weeks. You go to Allah.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
I only get a week off because I got to
fly back to do some stuff in Los Angeles for
the almost famous podcast Secrets, Secrets.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Secrets, What do you mean? Secrets? All? Okay, Well, I
would again love to be there and you'll find out
so long I'm not there, And thank you for taking
over for my vacation week. It was so fun. We
got to do a little collab with the Royal Caribbean.
(04:47):
It was the craziest, coolest. I think it was probably
the coolest opportunity I've had since being on the show,
you know, besides like you know, like besides like having
a child from the show and getting there the show.
I mean like an actual partnership opportunity.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Actually, I talked about you in my executive coaching session
today based on your Royal Caribbean experience.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
Was it executive? Really?
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Yeah? I was talking about how fair it is that
you're having so much fun and you seem to have
taken a two month vacation from the almost famous podcast.
Why I have grinded here and then I'm just feeling
a lot of inks towards you.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
I actually I feel like you do have thanks starts
to me, to be quite honest.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Why would you feel that way? What have I done
to make you feel that way?
Speaker 3 (05:28):
Saying what you just said?
Speaker 2 (05:30):
No, I have zero inks towards you. On some other comments,
what did I say I'm so stuck out offline?
Speaker 3 (05:41):
Oh no, no, you know what? You know?
Speaker 1 (05:44):
What? You know?
Speaker 3 (05:45):
What you did?
Speaker 2 (05:46):
I have actually zero idea?
Speaker 3 (05:48):
Okay, no, no, no, no, no, no. Are you happy, Ben?
Speaker 2 (05:52):
I'm very happy. I have zero inks towards you. I
know that your life is different right now, and I
have a complete understanding that.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
No.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
I was talking about it because I said, I was
watching your Instagram stories and it was bringing me back
to my teenage years on a cruise ship and feeling
a freedom and an adventure and an enjoyment that I
haven't felt in a long time. And I was talking
to him about finding that again an adulthood, and then
I am, I'm getting ready to go on a vacation,
(06:24):
and I'm excited for it. But vacations as an adult
have felt so different. Not I understand that I'm not
a kid anymore. It's not as magical. But I really
don't relax on vacation. I haven't so long because it
feels like other things going on.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
Anyways, I agree, I understand that I feel like you can't.
I don't know this last time I like truly truly relaxed,
but like had fun. Always can tell you when I
last had fun. But I feel like as an adult,
you just always have something in the back of your
mind that's saying you should be doing this. You got
to get this done.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Yeah, I really exactly. And so I was watching your
Instagram stories and I was going, goodness, this looks fun.
It looks fun for Ashley and Jared and the family
and the kids and I. It just reminded me of
what I've missed. It was nothing more. There was no anks,
there's no anger. There is no angst or anger in
(07:13):
my heart towards you at all.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
I understand your situation taking over a lot lately. I
feel a lot of guilt.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
Sorry maybe yeah, maybe maybe you feel you're feeling guilty.
I get that too. But yeah, it looked awesome. I
was in Tahoe, Ashley since the last time we spoke
with a lot of Golden and also current cast members
or like from like more recent episodes of The Bachelor
and Bachelorette. We had a really great time. That interviews
(07:42):
are coming out kind of as we speak, so make
sure you tune into the Almost Famous thread to listen
to those.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
Hey, Ben, before we move on, would you like to
go on a cruise with us?
Speaker 2 (07:52):
I would always love to go on a cruise with you.
I'd just like to see you again. Quite honestly, it's
it's been a long time since I've got I've gone
on a lot of trips for the Almost Famous podcast
without Ashley. At this point, it is making me sad.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
It is I we don't like that. I don't like
that at all. Ben, why don't you go to the
Jonas Broller thing with us in September. He's like, no,
that's my time off. Yeah, that's your trip.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
Yeah, all right, let's dive into this week's episode. It's
great to have you. Actually, we're recapping Bachelor in Paradise.
It's episode seven. This episode brings out a lot of emotions,
a lot of questions. But let's start with just kind
of breaking down the first part of the episode. We
(08:38):
see a lot of people kind of hanging out at
this resort, Ashley. I mentioned last week when we broke
down the episode, the resort is making more sense to
me now. It is starting to like I'm understanding where
the rooms are and where the bar is. It feels
like a lot of people are spending their time kind
of huddled around the bar. We don't get as much
beach scene, which makes.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Me saying, hangs out on the beach.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
I like the beach. I like seeing people doing that.
It's not happening during this season with this current setup.
But I am starting to understand it more. I'm actually
starting to get into the quality of the camera work.
Now I'm following along with storylines better. I said I
am still not sold on the money. I don't know
(09:27):
if I'm as against it as I once was, because
it doesn't seem to be a factor quite honestly. It
just kind of seems to be this like looming thing
that everybody knows exists, but it hasn't. We haven't necessarily
seen it affect relationships, I think until this week.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
Yeah, I thought this episode started to feel like Bachelor Pad.
I've never watched Bachelor Pad, but it felt more about
competition to me than it felt about love. And it
really made clear to me that there's nobody living here
together engaged. I don't even think engagement is really on
the table, to be honest. Interesting, I don't think like
it's never been mentioned, and there's never been anything teased
(10:03):
with a ring box or a kneel down as we
usually see. Yeah, I didn't not like this episode. I
just started to feel like, Okay, this is more about
gameplay now less about love, and maybe it works for
a season like this where I don't see a lot
of actual coupling happening. Spencer and Jess barely ever get shown.
(10:24):
You would think that they didn't even exist in this cast,
and as far as the editing. I'm wondering whether or
not they've taken some feedback from the audience because they
because it does feel slower to me, it seems less flashy.
I don't know if they're just trying to match it
(10:45):
to the tone of the storyline, but it seems definitely
less like modern and then interesting tidbit factoid that I
didn't pick up on until our producer mentioned it, but
they have this song almost Paradise in the slow, original
(11:05):
traditional sense the beginning of this episode and not their
little rematch.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
Yeah, you're right, they're changing things up. You can tell
the pace is slowing, storylines are easier to follow. I
don't know the reasoning, but I do know from our
feedback from the listeners of the almost Famous podcast, people
desired for it just change, maybe to modernize, but not
to make the drastic changes it did. It was unrecognizable.
(11:34):
This episode really starts, I think when Wells and We're
reminded that Hannah Brown is still in Costa Rica, to
which I'm like.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
Are Hannah and Wells pissed that they are there? Because
that's a lot of time dedication to be somewhere where
you're not getting much airtime.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
I mean they're really getting at this point, Wells is
getting a few seconds on TV. Hannah's getting less than that.
I mean, goodness, gracious, I had forgot that she was
in Costa Rica, in Paradise until they showed up. They
met everybody and told the cast to meet Jesse in
the secret garden. This is going to be a relationship
(12:11):
test of the week. The test is explained to us
like this. There's a lot of couples going on. There's
gonna be questions asked, and people are going to ask
us answer these questions in secret. The people that match
the most will get a chance to meet each other
in a secret rendezvous, but also get to meet each
(12:32):
other kind of in the middle of this game in private.
Nobody else will know who's there and who's not there
to see if they actually want to date each other.
Here's the thing. This game doesn't work. It doesn't. It
doesn't epically fails for the show because anybody there at
this point is coupled up. They're committed. They're also not
(12:55):
going to be stepping out. This is not perfect match,
this is not Love Island.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
Didn't feel like they were trying to be perfect magic.
Maybe it's because it was fresh in my head as
we recapped out this week too.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
Yeah, but there's only so many types of games that
I think they could play to pull off what they
wanted to do. I think they wanted to see if
there was a couple that would switch. I think they
were thinking about the Alicia and Dales, the cat and
Dale's I wanted to see. I think they tried to
create a love triangle of senses and then just backfired.
It didn't work. The only reason it worked was because
(13:27):
Brian and Bailey got to discuss something.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
Yeah, in a backhanded way, it worked. Okay, I have
to put you on to these leggings I've been obsessed
with lately. They're from this brand called Tona, and get this,
the designer behind them also created Lulu Lemon, so they
(13:51):
know what they're doing. These leggings are next level. I
think butterysoft, super flattering, and very comfortable. But they're also
very supportive in the right places. So I started wearing
them when the kids and I go out to play,
and now I'm basically living in them twenty four seven.
And here's what makes them even better. With every payer
(14:13):
you buy, it helps fund a mental health counseling session
for a teen in need. Isn't that so awesome? Tona
is on a mission to end teen suicide and self harm,
which we think is so important and so incredible of them.
So we partnered with Tona to give you twenty percent
off your order and free shipping. So head to tonaactive
(14:36):
dot com that is TNA active dot com and use
code iHeart for twenty percent off in free shipping.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
After kind of watching some Netflix reality shows, the questions
here felt like ABC or whoever?
Speaker 3 (14:56):
Trying too hard?
Speaker 2 (14:58):
Trying too hard, It's very weird. What's what role play
do you like?
Speaker 3 (15:02):
Okay, Ben, can we talk about that question for a second. Yeah,
it was like, am I supposed to like have a
favorite role play? Like, I'm sorry, I've never played teacher student.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
We don't have the time. Like it's like, hey, like
I'm feeling your feel let's let's do what we want
to do. There's not like a there's not like a
couple hours that we can just be like, hey, do
you mind going to put your nurse outfit on?
Speaker 3 (15:27):
Like I'm sorry, I didn't know it was like a
normal thing, not that it's abnormal, but everybody just wrote
it down like oh duhah, do do do? And I'm like, oh, okay,
I never never done that.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
I'm sure. Actually, if you asked the contestants, they'd be like, yeah,
I didn't really think about like I was like just
coming up with something what's sexier?
Speaker 3 (15:46):
Like I would be like, okay, I get I get
the teacher student sexiness.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
But there's so many better questions.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
Yeah, like I must explore this relationship because he and
I both want to be a teacher student.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
They weren't questions that even hinted at compatibility exactly. There
were questions that mostly related to preference, but half of
relationship is understanding your partner's preferences and adapting and then
adapting tears. It's not compatibility questions. These were framed as, hey,
we're going to get to know what couples are really
into it, like really would work and not work. The
(16:21):
questions that were asked were, we're not pointing us in
that direction at all. It gave me no insight into
who would work better with another partner. So this game,
for what it was, I do think try was attempting
to do something that didn't work out for them, but
it did bring us one thing that was interesting. It
did bring us an opportunity for Brian and Bailey to
(16:44):
have a conversation.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
It sure did, And this is the basis for basically
the entire episode.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
It stretches on for so long it does.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
We knew that it would come. We knew that this
would be the big drama when they did show us
the hidden camera footage in which Jeremy confided to Brian
that he basically called Susie in the interview room that
he had regrets about not keeping Susie over Bailey, and
(17:15):
he even made comments about getting down on one knee
if Susie were to come back. Now, let's just kind
of handle this as a whole conversation about going through
like any bitty details. He definitely did say that he
would propose to Susie. Was in a joking way, yeah,
(17:35):
but he denied it in this episode.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
I think you're hinting on probably the biggest issue that
there's just too much lying. I think this whole episode
was wrapped around with nobody telling the truth, and that's
why it stretched out for as long as it did.
I think that's why the show had the show so
much of the back and forth At some point, I
(17:59):
was hoping that Wells Jesse Hannah would just step in
and be like, hey guys, just to let you all know,
nobody's telling the truth here, like it would make a
lot more sense everybody. Somebody just told the truth. But
Jeremy's lying, Brian's lying, Dale's somehow speaking wisdom and truth
into the situation, and he feels like he's saying nothing
(18:20):
that's gonna be my.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
I was so confused when Dale was talking because I
was like, Dale, who are you trying to protect here?
And then I figured out that they were trying to
protect Jeremy and saying that Brian was being the bad guy.
Now listen, not a fan of Brian or Jeremy. Both
of them skied me out in certain ways. Sometimes Brian,
(18:44):
especially in the last episode, where he was like, excuse me,
you're complimenting me too much and you over communicate. I
needed to cut down on that. I was like, oh
my god, this guy sept red flags everywhere. And then Jeremy,
we all know Jeremy the thing, particularly this one, you
know him keeping the fact that he hadn't way more
(19:05):
interested in Susie than he led on to Bailey for
a long time, and that he never came clean about it,
and now Jeremy is basically pretended he is he lying. Yes,
I think he's lying. He's he says that he, you know,
basically is very happy with Bailey, and all those Susie
(19:25):
comments they happened, but they were in the past. However,
he still denies the engagement thing. What's your take on that?
What do you think? Do you think that Jeremy is
is lying to just kind of like keep in good
graces with Bailey or do you think that he has
developed stronger feelings over the past week or so.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
I actually think it's a different question. Okay, I don't
think Brian did anything wrong.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
No, No, we're all good there for sure.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
So do I think that Jeremy and Bailey have grown together?
I don't know, because I have seen enough for me
to say it.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
Also, you'd have hesitance about Jeremy's honesty throughout it all,
because even when Susie was in the picture, he did
genuinely seem into Bailey, but then he said on the
hidden camera stuff like, oh she's nice, but I want Susie.
So basically I don't trust anything Jeremy says okay, and
then there's the Brian thing.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
I'm with Wells here now, same same. I don't know
how much the audience will be with Wells or not
on this. It seems like to me, you know, Dale,
I think had a quote that said, you put yourselves
in the crosshairs of a situation that would probably have
been talked about tomorrow. I don't know why he thinks
it would have been confronted tomorrow. I have no idea
(20:45):
on why one more extra day would have then brought
this to light.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
Hey, this is what Dale used on CAT a couple
weeks ago. He's like, why did you deliver this news
to me?
Speaker 2 (20:53):
Now?
Speaker 3 (20:54):
Couldn't you just waited a day have some tact woman
And it's like, now he's doing the same thing to Brian.
Speaker 2 (21:01):
It seems like the timing is not ideal in Dale's
mind for anything. Do I love that Brian told Bailey directly, Yes.
I don't think he had to go through Jeremy for this.
What was Jeremy going to say, Oh, yeah, you know what,
please do go tell Bailey about my infatuation with Susie. No, Brian,
(21:23):
I don't know his reasoning. I don't know his intentions
to wanting to do this, But I do know that
if you give him the benefit of the doubt, he
was feeling like, hey, this relationship is growing. I like
Bailey and it feels like Jeremy is not in it
and she's just growing stronger feelings. And if I was Bailey,
(21:46):
I would want to know if that was his reasoning. Okay,
so he tells Bailey. Ultimately it works out. Brian Bailey's
now in the No, She's not gonna have to watch
it back and get you know, understand this happens. You know,
when she watches on National TV, her and Jeremy are
able to have a legitimate conversation where there lies in
that sure, but they were able to work through it
(22:10):
and stay together. I don't understand this bro code thing.
Bro Code to me is mostly something when I come
to you with a vulnerability of hey, I'm feeling a
certain way and I know I don't want to be
feeling this way, or I'm hurting, or hey I'm kind
of messed up in the head. Can I speak to
(22:30):
you about something? Can I confide in you about something?
And then if that trust is broken, when I come
to you with a vulnerability I would be upset. Maybe
that is what is getting hinted at here. It feels
like to me, Jeremy just continued to share with everybody
but Bailey that he was still into Susie or he
was into Susie, and the whole house knew it except Bailey.
That's when it doesn't feel right to me, And yet
(22:53):
Brian is the one that is getting absolutely crushed here.
I am confused, like Wells is, as to the why
is it because everybody else, like Cat, says something along
the lines of is he you know? How do I
know he's not gonna stab me in the back. Well,
you would know that if you did anything that would
(23:14):
be wrong. But Cas, up to this point, I don't
know anything that you've done that he could even remotely
use against you. Jeremy was doing something that made the
whole house feel uncomfortable at one point in time, and
Bailey was unfamiliar with it. That's why that was brought
to the surface.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
I was like questioning my moral compass the entire time
until finally, like thirty minutes into this big group discussion,
well says, I'm really confused what's going on here? Because
I'm pretty sure Brian is trying to be the good
guy and all of them are defending the bad guy here,
and yeah, just that's that is what is happening. And
(23:52):
I think that if you were to take this situation
into another Bachelor in Paradise season, the cast would basically
be like, so, guys, when do we tell? When do
we tell Bailey? And instead in this cast they're like,
all right, we all know, let's all not tell Bailey
until Jeremy decides to do it. Obviously, Jeremy is just
(24:14):
the person that they like more than Brian in the situation,
and they were trying to protect him, I think. But
I certainly had moments where I was just like am
I supposed to? Especially when Andrew was like, yeah, dude,
you broke ro code? I was like, Andrew, Andrew too,
have I lost my morals?
Speaker 2 (24:35):
I think there is a lot at stake here. I
do think they see Press and Brian as a strong couple.
They have been a strong couple for a while. That
could be coming into it where there is the competition aspect.
I also do wonder how much of it does play
into who do we like more? Who do we want
to hang out with more? And you know, it could
be that it's the Jeremy thing. I also believe it's
a little bit of group thing. I think enough of
(24:57):
the group got ahead of it. I I think Brian
did himself a disservice by not being an adult and saying, yes,
I told Bailey. I think he actually would have.
Speaker 3 (25:07):
Oh yeah, there was that weird lie.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
I think the I think the lying made people feel
like there was deception, and I think deception made people
hesitant to support Brian well, and so I do think
that comes into it. And it kind of just got
mixed up where everybody got against team Brian because Brian
had when their minds lied to them and he did,
and then he played, you know, confused and I didn't
(25:32):
say anything, No, it was the girls. He was blaming others,
the girls that I'm mad at him. So I do
think he backed himself into this situation. I don't think
Brian was right and his lying to the group, But
if you break it all down, you take a step back,
you're like, what did he do that was wrong? That's
the question ultimately outside of lying, which is wrong, but
(25:54):
in the situation by telling Bailey, what did he do
there that was wrong? Is it against Broke. I don't
know what bro code is. It feels like he was
trying to ultimately be the one to fall on the sword,
to tell her something that was happening that would hurt
her ultimately at some point. Do I ever think during Bachelor, Bachelorette,
(26:16):
Bachelor in Paradise that you, you know, falling on the sword
or being the justice warrior here is always a very
difficult place to be.
Speaker 3 (26:26):
Touchy thing in Bachelor world. Yeah, yeah, I guess what
they wanted him to do, in an ideal sense, would
be to go to Jeremy be like, Hey, I've given
you a week to say something to Bailey, you know,
and I'm trying. I'm worried for her. You know, we're
getting deep into this. I think it's time for you
to say something, and if you don't say something, she's
(26:48):
going to find out some through one of us.
Speaker 2 (26:51):
I think he got tired of him not saying anything
to anybody, and as a result, he felt like he
had to speak up. It just gets back and forth
for a while. Well, Ashley, what I want to bring
up for conversation is everybody's responses. Obviously, Dale steps into
this very quickly and becomes kind of I guess a
(27:13):
listening board for both Jeremy and Brian here. It felt
like Dale was always kind of he said something to
Brian in the sense of, I'm I didn't think you'd
do this because you have a better character than that.
He said to Brian at the bar, like you wouldn't
say anything to Jeremy or to Bailey because you have
more character than that. It felt at that point Dale
(27:34):
knew Brian had said something, and he was just saying
that to like kind of jab him a little bit.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
It was kind of like what he said to Kat
a couple of weeks ago, where it's like, we've got
we were raised different ways. Nothing's right or wrong because
we were raised different ways, you know, it was raised
like that. So and then I also want to mention
how when Brian did sit down with Bailey, why why
(28:00):
did she have to pull it out of him? He
was like, hey, can I talk to you? And then
they sit down and it's like he just didn't talk.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
I'm not saying Brian's in the right here. I don't
know if he communicated anything correctly. He was hesitant, he
was obviously nervous. I think he knew he was stepping
on a landmine when it came to the house, and
what kind of damage just could cause. He was taking
a risk. I want to believe his intentions were right,
but I don't know if they were. I don't know
if he was doing it just to cause chaos or
(28:29):
if he really felt like, hey, I need to let
Bailey know. I think the better move here would have
been for one of the girls to be the one
to say something. I think it always comes you know,
the message is received better, and then there's a comfort
that's able to be giving when in situations like this.
If Brian would have gone to Paris and said, hey, Parisa,
(28:51):
I got your back. I feel uncomfortable being in this situation,
but you or Alex, can you say some thing to
baby like Alex, Yeah, it's necessary at this point, and
maybe talking about it as a group. I think it's
always good in these situations to get other people's opinions.
It does feel like and this is a part that
(29:13):
makes me a little nervous. Brian was pretty sold out
on telling Bailey now for about you know, for a
long time on the show, he was kind of convinced,
I'm going to go tell her but this is the
situation that lastes through the show. It does feel like
the house is against Brian, and we have other storylines
that are existing within the house at the time, really
around Captain Kim and Faith. They can't stop touching each
(29:38):
other making out. I think it's adorable. It doesn't feel
like other people in the house are feeling the same way.
Speaker 3 (29:44):
They are the only actual romantic Golden couple physically speaking,
and people are denying that there is anything there which
I'm interested about. What do you think Faith would allow
him to touch her like that if she wasn't actually
feeling it back.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
I think they one hundred percent are into each.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
Other really, So what's the denial here?
Speaker 2 (30:07):
I don't know. I don't understand where they rub people
the wrong way. It obviously is something that we haven't
seen at this point. It might have been Kim. You know,
there was some hints at hey, he's bounced around, so weird, Yeah,
to any woman that gave him attention, and Faith finally did,
and so he's into it. You know at this point though,
as you're a Golden it's like bounce around to anybody.
It's going to give you attention and see what sticks
(30:28):
You're obviously into her, you are caring for her well
and you but you guys are are doing some wild
I mean, these are some of those steamiest makeout sessions
we've seen all season for anybody.
Speaker 3 (30:49):
So this comes to the Rose ceremony, it is the
two of the two of them actually get voted off,
which I was surprised because I thought it was pretty
clear that if we were going to eliminate a golden couple,
it should have been Kathy and Keith, because there's no romance,
no romance there that self described friends. So it's it
(31:12):
doesn't make any sense. And that's where I started kind
of getting annoyed with this like competition format, because it's
it is actually about teammates now, and like sometimes teammates
can be romantically linked, but like also sometimes not, so
like we're actually putting the show is putting it technically,
technically putting these people in a position in which you
(31:35):
could win the whole thing without actually being in love.
Do I think that's gonna happen. No, I think they'll
find ways around that. But with the rules as we
know right now, it's like Leah and Jonathan could technically
win as they did win the compatibility test.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
I mean, I do. I think there is going to
be I think there's a good chance somebody that's not
that into each other romantically could win this season. I
don't think the show is going to stop it. I
do think we're seeing Bachelor and Paradise change before our eyes,
away from a love story to more of a competition.
And that's why you don't see as many comp dates
(32:15):
or moments where people use a famous Bachelor line. This
is a perfect place for me to fall in love.
Love is not is not the focal point of Bachelor
in Paradise. Now, We're we prepared for that. Do we
want that? As fans? I particularly, I don't really care, honestly,
(32:36):
because I like Paradise for its chaos and for its messiness.
And then I always knew with the old format of
Paradise that some couples were going to come from it,
and I always like that. But in the midst of that,
I liked the the other stuff sometimes more.
Speaker 3 (32:50):
Well, yeah, like that's what I'm saying. If they do
have two people there that are meant to be together,
that'll be so awesome and they'll be together, which is
probably what's going to happen with Justin Spun But I
just don't think like their the whole end game of
the show is going to be about engagement, and maybe
they just didn't think they had a lot of actual
couplings that could have happened, and they're like, you know,
(33:12):
let's just put a backup plan. And that was the
competition and the money, which were still still kind of
don't know, like is it just going to keep being whoever?
Is that the last row ceremony? Like, we're you just
cute eliminating the way that we've been eliminating right now,
because it just seems like that's going to take weeks
and weeks. I mean, we have like four or five
more episodes left.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
It would work four or five more episodes and we
do an elimination each week. The numbers make sense.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
Actually they do.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
Here's Ashley my theory. You want to hear a theory.
I have no backing for it. And the show is
realizing that more current contestants are not as popular as
maybe past contestants, right, You're yeah, you look back on
like the Hannah Godwins and the Kalin's and the Deans
and the Blakes and some people from Paradise of a
(33:57):
few years ago, and obviously you would get in that,
but you were Paradise really early on Paradise of a
few years ago. You have some people that are very
recognizable and doing some great things. I wonder if as
they slowly transition away from the love focus, we're going
to get back to maybe more of a bachelor Pads
(34:17):
type show where some of these married couples, people contestants
that have been married could still go and be a
part of the show and compete without love being the focus.
Because they need to get some of those names back.
They need to bring back some of the people that
are in relationship now and have kids. But would bring
viewers to say, yeah, I want to watch that person again.
Speaker 3 (34:40):
Well, you know the spin off that I've always wanted,
the couples competing together and challenges.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
I love it. That would be awesome to watch, and
I would love to see some familiar faces of the
past come back. I'd love to see the Andrew Firestones
and the Bob Guineas competing against a Trista Sutter's similar
to what we were doing in Tahoe this last weekend
at the almost Famous Gathering where Trista Sutter and Ryan
Sutter won the pickleball tournament. Not shocking there, not shocking
(35:07):
at all, not shocking by any sort of the imagination.
Bob Guiney competed, He competed hard. I had Dianna Stagliano
as my partner. We competed hard, we fought hard, we
had a blast. We just didn't win. Anyways, that's a
side note, Hey, Ashley, Paradise ends like this. Kim goes
home and they, like you said, fairly shocking elimination. Kim
(35:29):
and Faith are walking out the door. They commit to
maybe trying something outside of Paradise. I would be shocked
if they didn't. If they don't, then it makes me
think that, yes, this was never a thing, but it
seemed like they're very hot and heavy.
Speaker 3 (35:42):
They're also both from Washington State, so why not try
to make it work? Now? Listen, the one thing from
the scene to the next episode that really got me
was the line I don't know who said it, but goes,
why don't we just try to start eliminating the strongest couples?
And I go so, So that's a real gameplay right there,
and that would make it not very paradise. That would
(36:05):
truly make it not very bachelory.
Speaker 2 (36:07):
Yeah, I do. I think we're seeing it evolve transition.
You might like it, you might not. I know there's
mixed reviews, but it does seem like people who are
sticking around to watch the show are buying into this
new format. They're excited about it. It is like a
it's a leveled down Perfect Match, It's a level down
Love Island. It's getting more and more in that realm
(36:30):
without maybe having the like straddling scenes that we see
during those kind of netflixy shows. Ashley. Some strong couples
still today, Alex and Andrew Dale Kat, I guess you
could say, are strong. We don't see a lot from
them this episode. Obviously Jesse and Spencer, who are still
(36:50):
there living their best life at the resort without having
any screen time at all. Andrew and Alex obviously, and
we still have Kathy Keith, who have no romantic connection
but enjoy having a cocktail together and looking at the sunset,
which I think sounds fantastic. Brian and Prisa, Sean and Alicia,
(37:11):
we don't see. I think the one big takeaway from
me this episode is we just don't see any other
couples we don't know where any other couple stand after
this episode more than that they still exist together. But
there's no storyline that dominates this episode more than the
Parsa Brian, Bailey and Jeremy conversations.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
Yeah, which was interesting and it came out, and we'll
see whether this is done, because I don't know that
it's done. I think Bailey still needs to find a
little bit more out about Jeremy. She's being very trusting
and very forgiving, like she said, and is that gonna
hurt her in the long run. I'm not sure.
Speaker 2 (37:57):
Yeah, at some point, she wouldn't be wrong to say, hey,
this feels messy to me, but there are still five
hundred and I know she says the money's not the problem,
and I'm cool going home and just saying goodbye to
the money. But if you sleep on it for one
night and you wake up the next morning, you're like, hey,
I could stick around and still have a chance to
win a half a million dollars, And just like in
(38:19):
this thing, I don't think she'd be wrong to consider
it at this point. With this format, it's not a
judgment call now on if you're into the relationship or not.
I don't have that feeling. I'm not saying, hey, you're
tricking this person. If she is not into it and
just wants stick around for the money. I think that's gameplay,
(38:40):
and I think this format is setting people up to
have strategy and gameplay more than anything we're ever familiar
with from Paradise.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
I think that is a very good point, and that's
sleep on It comment that really resonated. I feel like
you can get a lot of clarity in those moments,
and one of those alreaties could be Hey, I like him,
I'd like to hang out with him here, and if
the chance of the money comes, then heck.
Speaker 2 (39:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (39:09):
Well guys, we love you, we're grateful for you, and
we will see you for next recap next week, and
until then, we will have other episodes coming out for
you all week long. Bye, I've been Ashley, Bye, and
I've been been.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
Goodness, you've been away for too long?
Speaker 3 (39:27):
Yeah no, whoops. Bye.
