Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
It's almost Famous podcast. We are here today for the
start of the off season. There's no shows airing right now.
We are here to have one of the times that
Ashley and I like love the most. We love breaking
down each season. We love talking about if we like
the season or not, and the relationships and the contestants
and the people and all the intricacies that go into
this show. But we really love the off season because
(00:27):
we get to break down headlines. We get to do
some deep dives with some of your favorite past contestants.
We get to catch up on each other's lives a lot,
which is a lot of fun. And always have you know,
the ability to answer questions that you may be send
it in to us. But today is headlines. We got
some juicy ones for you today. Ashley is here, ready
(00:47):
and prepared. Goodness gracious, let's kick it off with this one.
Tyler Cameron says, Bachelor Grant ellis yes, the bachelor currently
no longer a bachel though in a relationship. Unfollowed him
over Litilla Gar's support. Tyler Cameron's quote is, come on, now,
(01:10):
this is covering to us Weekly.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Okay, so I love this because Tyler just.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
Like wasn't afraid to say what he was thinking, and
Grant couldn't. He couldn't take it. So after seeing the finale,
Grant got a Tyler got on Instagram and he said, Latilla,
I'm going to apologize because I.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Was unfamiliar with your game because.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
You have a massive, massive real estate right here in
Grant's head and this is probably true. And then he
said so he you know, he kind of put Grant
a little bit on blast, as I and lots of
other viewers out there did, because you know, he said
(01:54):
too many things, too many things.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
Now watch yourself, Ashley, what do you mean some of
us make those mistakes in life.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
No, no, it wasn't just the I love you. It
wasn't the I love you. It's over yes, over and
over again. Stop the show face, having your mom whatever.
He's in the fantasy suage, which I think is even
beyond all this.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
I can't wait. You know, I'm excited to propose to
you tomorrow. Like what this is so beyond the I
love you.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
I can respect that you love two people, that you
even say I love you to two people. This I
can't respect at all anyway, So I'm sure that Grant
won't be having any double dates with me in Boston either.
My nanny was like, just like, do you think that, like,
because they're living in Boston, that you'll like see them
And I'm like, I don't know that he's going to
really want to hang out with me after how critical
(02:43):
I was at the finale anyway. Okay, so this is
what Tyler said, and then he goes, when I was
on Nick's podcast, I was like, Hey, You're gonna be
a great bachelor.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
Blah blah blah.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
And then he goes, ye slid Grant slid into Tyler's DM,
saying you're the man TC and then he said I
had this feeling that after I supported Latia on Instagram
that Grant unfollowed me, and then he went to his
follower list, and yes he did. He unfollowed Tyler after
(03:19):
he showed the support to Lithia.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
Now, okay, I don't blame Grant though, really, come oh sensitive, Now,
I'm not saying what Tyler did was wrong either. You
signed up for a show again to be criticized, like
it happens to everybody all times. You go from the
highs to lows, and most seasons you get spit out
with people being happy and people being mad at you.
But I don't necessarily mind Grant unfollowing Tyler because it
(03:45):
wasn't serving anything of encouragement to him. And if that's not, like,
if that's not happening, then I don't blame him for
taking a step back. It's not that he should be
mad at Tyler. I hope that they see each other
they can laugh about it and be like, dude, you
like you are a jerk to me, and Tyler can
say yes, I was, and all this whatever dudes do
to figure stuff out. But I don't blame him for
(04:06):
the unfollow because Grant is very sensitive. I'm sure right
now like he's hearing every negative comment way louder than
anything positive.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
I can see your side, but I also feel like
you need to learn to take that that's not even
that bad.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
It wasn't that mean.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Over time, he will be fine. He's just a sensitive
boy right now, and that's okay. Actually, this one kind
of rocked me, if I if I remember right, this
is the second time, Yeah, something like this has happened
in their home. It was something I was so worried
about with my beautiful pup Oilan. I could not be
(04:47):
more at peace with where I'm at. So this even
headline doesn't hurt me to read. But if you had
asked me this three months ago, I would have never
read it because I would have been so terrified myself.
Bachelor star Sean Loa details being attacked twice by his
dog in North Texas home. Now, actually, before we start,
(05:08):
if I'm crazy, we read a headline like a year
ago where they had to send one of their dogs
to a different home because of it attacking their son.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
Right, Yeah, we didn't have like that attack detailed. I
don't even know if we would call an attack. It
just seemed to like be aggressive, like shows time's aggressiveness. Yeah,
so they got rid of that dog and then they
just had to get rid of another dog after a
true attack on Sean. If you want to know the
(05:37):
whole story from them, like I it is, it's a
crazy story. There's a seven minute Instagram reel that they
put up on it explaining how you know, of course
they had to get rid of the dog after this,
and they didn't want people to be like, so what
happened to the dog or see the marks on Sean's
arms and wonder what happened there without explanations, they just
(05:58):
seven minute video on it. It was quite petrifying. He
got attacked by the dog and sent to the emergency
room twice in the same twenty four hour span.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (06:11):
So first he's grilling out with the guys and he
the kids aren't home, and the smoke detector goes off
in the house and I guess the smoke detector had
never gone off before, but this sound drove the dog
to run up to Sean and just tear like really
just like dig into his arms to the to the
(06:32):
point where he said it like it almost looked like
a murder scene out on the patio. He was very
thankful that he had friends there because they got him
to the emergency room and they got stitched up, and
of course like that they were already thinking like, oh,
we got to figure out what to do this dog.
So he gets back from the emergency room the next day,
the dog, the kids are going to go get picked
(06:53):
up by the grandparents and they're going to figure out
what to do. They just need like time to heal
and like time for their minds and Catherine and him,
and then as the grandparents pull up, there's this other
siren sound and the dog he sees like leaping out
of the house, going straight towards him again, ripping him apart,
(07:17):
goes to the er again. So of course Moose is
we don't know where he is, but he's no longer
in the low house, I do believe.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
I mean, I think you mentioned this, but Sean was
working with a no kill shelter to kind of figure
out where to, yeah, take Moose. It's really sad story
for multiple reasons. I'm sure they were heartbroken that their
dog is, you know, doing this, and then.
Speaker 5 (07:41):
Also kind of what he was talking about.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Shun's hurt. But yeah, it's the second time. I mean,
I hope they get like a poodle, like, I know, stuff,
like a tiny little poodle that can't cause damage, because goodness,
that's a rough go with one of God's greatest creations
a dog.
Speaker 4 (07:59):
Yeah, yeah, he was a boxer. He's a boxer Moose.
And he just said that it was like so hurtful
in addition to being physically hurtful, of course, that it
was like this is.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
My dog, My dog is like.
Speaker 5 (08:10):
Tearing me up.
Speaker 4 (08:12):
Yeah, and it's just that was like such an emotional
element to it, and they only had him for three months.
Speaker 5 (08:18):
I thought he had him for longer. But yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Don't like it. I mean I don't like it because
it makes me sad for all of them. Uh. Christina
Mandreu celebrates being five months sober, and her quote is
I'm really proud of how far I've come.
Speaker 5 (08:35):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
So she posted this so awesome.
Speaker 4 (08:39):
So she's out to dinner with Braiden, you know, another
bachelor couple that we need to get on since their
wedding because they got married recently. She said, five months sober,
and for the first time since starting this Jersey, I
went out, like actually went out to a restaurant with
menus mood lighting and yes, drink specials.
Speaker 5 (08:57):
I get it.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
There's like a difference between like going out to eat
to like a family restaurant, and like going on a
date night with that ambiance that's going to put you
in the mood for maybe more of a drink. And
she goes, I hadn't been now at all, not because
I didn't want to, but because I didn't trust myself
to be around it yet. But on this night, I
felt ready, and Braiden and I got dressed up and
we went somewhere that felt a little fancier than usual,
(09:18):
seafood tower and all. And I told myself I could
handle it.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
She said their.
Speaker 4 (09:23):
Booth was facing a wine cellar. It was a huge
wine cellar. And she goes and right next us with
a triple date and they were ordering rounds and rounds
to the table, laughing and cheersing. And I'd be lying
if it didn't stir something up inside me. But I
made it through, and I made it through more than
just that. I enjoyed myself. And she was talking about
how supportive Brandon has been and he he said something
(09:44):
really cute or it was like the way that he
looked at her. Yeah, he was taking pictures of her,
and one picture he goes like, Babe, this is your
real smile. Like this isn't like your smile for a
picture smile. This is like your real smile.
Speaker 5 (09:56):
That came out. And she said that was like a
really special moment.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
It's a beautiful moment for both of them, and incredible
accomplishment for her. I again, have never known anybody who
has gone sober who has regretted it. That's something that
said Grant Ellis. We're going back to Grant for a second.
I'm gonna share a couple big headlines about Katie Thurston
(10:20):
towards the end of our headlines, but we're going to
go back to Grant. Grant Ellis clears the air on
his sister Taylor's feelings about fiance Juliana. This is according
the Bachelor Nation. I believe Ashley. This is coming off
of some of the clips that were done when Juliana
and Grant were announced as a couple on live stage
(10:41):
and Grant's sister looked nothing but disappointed. And he's clearing
the air on this now.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Yeah. He was doing an interview with US Weekly and
he said, rest assured everyone all is fine between Juliana
and my sister. They have a great relationship. And sometimes
I tell my sister, dude, fix your face. And then
he shared that that's just how his sister looks sometimes
and people are gonna believe what they want to believe,
but that's just.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Her she is.
Speaker 4 (11:09):
She has this mentally thing, this mental thing where she's
like gotta be a boss. I don't know what that is,
but that's why my sister she loves Juliana very much.
The Internet create can create whatever narrative they want and
run with it.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
Love it. Amanda Stanton is honest about the differences in
an article with Bachelor Nation about the differences between having
a baby at twenty one and thirty three, I was.
Speaker 4 (11:44):
Very interested to read this when she posted it on
her story.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
She said that a lot of people ask her if
it was.
Speaker 4 (11:49):
Hard being pregnant in her early twenties, because obviously, like
friends are a different stage of life. Her sister was
in college at the time. She goes, But I've always
been kind of a homebody, so I never felt lest
out when people were doing something different.
Speaker 5 (12:03):
She said.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
The one thing that did bother her was that her
friends didn't understand, like if she couldn't make it to something,
they would think like, oh, she's being flaky, but actually
it's like, no, I have a kid, like I actually
have to take.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
Care of it.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
And she goes at thirty three.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
It was nice because all my friends are pretty much
in the same boat as me. She talks about different
like bodily things too that happened, like she felt like
she lost the weight faster when she was younger, but
now she's in the best shape ever. She was able
to get herself there. And she said that she did
(12:35):
have more energy in her twenties, even if she was
like still tired, like she had bad nights sleep, you know,
she was able to like kind of power through and
she goes, Now, if I don't get sleep, I cannot
function the next day.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
Yeah, it's really fun to watch Amanda Stanton. It's just life.
It's such a qul. I know that she's pulled off
to beautiful daughters at twenty one and then obviously another
beautiful child at thirty three, and her marriage and just
it's fun to follow along, especially from someone who had
(13:08):
no part in this chapter in her life but got
to see her and get to know her well.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
I agree.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
She's like one of those insubscriptories that I must click
on when I say she's uploaded a new one.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
Crushing it. Good job, Amanda. Okay two, we're going to
use this next minute and a half here to talk
about the Bachelor in Paradise. Obviously, they announced that the
Goldens are going to be in Paradise to some capacity
with the cast members from the Bachelor and Bachelorette in
(13:41):
Paradise there's a thousand things that could happen on the
beaches in Paradise with this dynamic existing. Hopefully all of
it's good, kosher and easy for me to watch, all
of us to watch. I think it's going to be beautiful.
Speaker 4 (13:57):
Hey, Ben, we never got your opinion on this since
you were out that day.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
My opinion is I love it.
Speaker 3 (14:02):
Oh really, you're the only one.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
No.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
I think it's great.
Speaker 4 (14:05):
I'm relatively neutral, but like most people I talk to,
you can't stand it well.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
I think their thought goes to they're going to try
to set these people up for dating, and I just
don't think that's going to be the case. I don't see.
I think the Goldens that I know are one way
too wise, way too like, fatherly and motherly and caring.
Two ever for a chance consider that, and I think
it's going to be a great dynamic of wisdom and honesty,
(14:33):
with the Goldens also having so much fun. We've seen
them have so much fun. I like it. I think
it's gonna be fun, and I'm glad we get to
see the Goldens in a different environment. I like that show.
I'm fan. I'm a fan of that show. I want
to see more of them, and if it has to
be on Paradise with the other contestants, I'll gladly take it. Yeah,
I think it could be a huge win if the
(14:55):
show does it well. If we see see Susan and
Kathy making out with a twenty two year old, that
that's when I stop watching this show forever.
Speaker 4 (15:04):
Okay, Yeah, I don't think it'll happen. When you put
in perspective for these people, it is like making out
with your child's friend.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
Yeah, it's it's not gonna happen. It's just not a thing.
It's there. The Goldens are way too wise to let
that happen. But if it ever even gets hinted at,
I think it's stupid. Keep it separate. But here's the stories.
The Golden Bachelor, Gary Turner turned down offer to join
Bachelor in Paradise a little bit shocking to me because
(15:36):
I do think he would have done well there. It's
interesting that he did, and he explains why. Ashley tell us.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
Yes, he passed it down because he said, simply, I've
already dated these women. There's only one season of women
to go through, and I was in charge of dating them.
So unless they were to add in extras basically for
him personally, he is not interested.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
Sure makes sense, it doesn't make sense. Give him a
few years here.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
Oh.
Speaker 4 (16:04):
He also said that he'd be open to a cameo
or filling in for Wells as bartender. I don't think
he's going to get that gig. But if there's two bars,
one for the Goldens and one for the regulars, that
would make sense.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
See, this is where I should come back in and
make my like push. I don't want to take Wells's job.
There's nobody that can do this better than Wells. But
if there is two bars, two separate filming spots, I
personally feel like I should be the bartender for the
Goldens because I've wanted to be a part of that
show since the very beginning. I was willing to work
on the show. I was willing to clean for the show.
(16:39):
I was willing to do anything possible to be around
these people more. Maybe it's time for me to make
a second push.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
Anyway, Hey, just tell them again.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
Okay, I want to be a part of this show.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
For anybody listening, we don't know any producers there or anymore,
so it'll help us out if you.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
Have connections yeah, so if you're listening, whoever you are.
We've never met, but I would love to be a
part of this. I was the Bachelor about nine years ago.
You know, some would say it was a decent time
in the franchise. Susan Knowles and Kathy Swartz two of
my absolute favorite people not only from the show but
in the world that I love being around, that are
(17:19):
sweet and carrying and generous and fun and always down
to create story and do some wild things to do it.
They're hilarious together. They discuss Golden's joining Bachelor in Paradise
and if they want to hit the beach this summer. Okay,
I haven't read this yet. I haven't seen anything about this,
(17:40):
but just from the headline, there is zeroed out in
my mind that Susan and Cathy do not want to
be on the beach this summer.
Speaker 5 (17:46):
Susan and Cathy will be there.
Speaker 4 (17:48):
It's almost a certain guarantee. As they are the hosts
of a Warner Brothers podcast. They want their hosts to
be on the show and then more people will listen
to their podcast. So they're joking about what kind of
bathing suits. I guess there's actually a serious conversation. It's
not joking about what kind of bathing suits they'll be
wearing if they do hit the beach. Kathy says she
(18:11):
will one hundred percent be oh yeah, okay, yes, Kathy,
one hundred percent will not be in a bikini. She
says she's going to have on her bathing suits in
the nineteen forties with long sleeves and a long skirt,
and Susan says that she doesn't even own a one piece.
She'll be in bikini all the way. But she said
(18:34):
watch out for her pudge. She is sixty eight and
it is there.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
I just want them there. They will be there. This
is why I cannot wait to watch the show. The
two of them specifically.
Speaker 4 (18:46):
Narrating the situations hilarious because they're going to be drunk
off their ass just talking commentating.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
They're they're the best two people to hang out with. Okay,
final headline of now let's share this one real quick.
Speaker 5 (19:01):
Yeah, there's two.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
I love Zach Clark. He's doing great work for those
in recovery and that are still processing recovery. Zach Clark
and Grant Ellis's dad, Rob, who we saw specifically on
the final segments of the show joined together to support
addiction recovery. The quote is I'm eternally grateful.
Speaker 4 (19:28):
Yes. So Zach went on Instagram to share how he
and Grant's father, Rob are currently working together to support
each other in recovery journeys. So Rob actually reveals that
when Grant initially mentioned him on the show and he
heard him saying, my dad was an attict for thirty
years and he lied to me, but he was my superhero.
(19:49):
He didn't even know he was going to say that.
The first time he heard about it was one it
aired on TV. And then Zach asked Rob if he
got sober because of Grant was going to because Grant
was going to be on TV, and he replied that
he was already in the process of recovering. He said, no, no,
I was in rehab. I was getting ready to leave
(20:11):
the place. I was getting ready to go into the
Salvation Army.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
And then.
Speaker 4 (20:18):
Then Zach called him and said, I have a foundation
and we're going to look out for you. And then
Zach said that He's like, you know, everything is about
forgiveness and love and compassion and in recovery. And now
it's great because together and this whole storyline is helping
(20:39):
people and paying it forward.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
It's beautiful the work that's being done and the two
of them coming together to advocate, speak about and share
the support that they have for each other during this time.
It could not take a second here. It could not
have been easy on Grant's dad to have this kind
of process happened because he's in recovery. He is walking
(21:04):
through recovery. Then it's brought to the world. So to
see the support that then Zach and his foundation gave
him sure meant a lot and helped him get through
this time. And now it's going to do a lot
of good for a lot of people.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
Yeah, and again his recovery name the name of his foundation,
Release Recovery. So if you know anybody who needs it,
check that out. Zach Clark's Release Recovery.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
Good clients of Generous Coffee as well. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, helpful.
Final headline of today. So last week and for the
last few weeks, we've been talking a lot about Katie Thurston.
(21:50):
We had her on the podcast. We got to ask
her the questions that so many people have been wondering
and asking as she's been very vulnerable and very open
about her process of finding out she had breast cancer
and then walking into what she believed was during our
(22:10):
interview the next week when she would start treatment. Then
last week we gave an update that her treatment had
been stalled. They'd put it on pause because they were
worried about the cancer spreading.
Speaker 4 (22:24):
Yeah, she had a pet scan and there was something
on her liver. They buyopdated it and it came back
on Friday that it is indeed stage four cancer. That
her breast cancer has spread to her liver, and this
is obviously awful news. Katie still says that she is
(22:44):
zero percent scared, which is amazing.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
Now she also shares that she's going to start treatment
next week when she was on the podcast, and I
encourage all of you to go back and listen to
it because she shares a lot of great insight into
her experience, how you can check yourself personally, and then
also about her treatment plan at the time. It wasn't
your routine, traditional treatment plan that she was walking into.
(23:11):
And so I think the question so many of us
have now Ashley is if her treatment plan is going
to pick back up again, what does her treatment look
like and is it different than what she shared with us.
Speaker 4 (23:23):
Well, I know that she told us, or she told
Instagram a couple days ago that if it did indeed fantastasize,
that she wasn't able to be a part of the
experimental treatment that she was going to go through. It's
not experimental treatment like it was the same chemo but
given in different types of rounds. Now, the plan is
(23:45):
essentially she said the same as before, though cancer is
with it, like the cancer that's within the liver is
spreading from the breast cancer. It's not a new type
of cancer. So my breast cancer is still the root
and will be the focus, and it will will be
six rounds of chemotherapy to start.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
I believe that.
Speaker 5 (24:04):
She starts now this coming Friday.
Speaker 4 (24:07):
If you guys want to follow a long day by day,
Katie does have the Booby broadcast, in which she basically
texts you. It feels like it's a text every day
or multiple times a day, and she gives updates.
Speaker 5 (24:22):
I'm looking at it right now here it is, so.
Speaker 4 (24:25):
She says, yes, getting ready for chemo on Friday. I
have my cold cap kit, my frozen gloves and socks.
That's trying the cold cap Is that she's going to
try to keep her hair through this, and this is
a new mechanism which it can sometimes be effective for that.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
It's not new, Ashley, you want to hear.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
It's not too new.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
My dad when he had cancer at thirty or a
cold cap and kept his hair through the whole thing.
Speaker 4 (24:48):
So why do not more people do it? Because people
also said that Kate Middleton may have done this.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
I don't know why they don't like more people don't
do it, but he his I mean, I'm sure it's
advanced since then, but he used to literally have a
cap with ice. It was like an ice cat that
you put on his head and it would help keep
the hair. Oh interesting, and that was thirty seven years ago.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
Yeah, your dad still has hair, Yeah, never lost it?
Speaker 5 (25:14):
Yeah, I know.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (25:16):
She said that she's glad that she has her port,
that she has a built in port, and that she's
just needing suggestions right now as to how the past
the time while getting the chemo. She says, people are
telling me to bring snacks, wear something warm. If you
have any advice out there, let me know. She also
got her period this week, and she said that she's
(25:38):
never been happier to get a period, She says, the
first time she's gotten one in since late January, and
it's made her feel normal.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
I would recommend to Katie, who's a listener of our
show already, to save the almost Famous podcast for those moments,
because nothing helps the time go faster than listening to
the almost Famous. It is some pure entertainment. Actually, the
final question will answer about Katie because it's the one
(26:09):
written into us. Do we have any idea? Do you
have any idea from what you have read or if
you've spoken to Katie, or however you get all of
your amazing insights on her husband's plans, because when she
talked to us, he was going back on tour. I
know that this treatment has changed, and so is her
(26:31):
husband going back on tour? Is he staying home? Kind
of what's happening there?
Speaker 4 (26:35):
So she posts it as part of a Q and
A the other day on Instagram that her treatment is
spread out as six treatments and they three weeks apart,
and each treatment is essentially a dedicated day to travel,
infusions and recovery, and he'll.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
Probably miss the first three.
Speaker 4 (26:53):
But she said the good news is if she wants to,
she can still travel to wherever he is as early
as the next day after receiving the chemo, which perhaps
sounds ambitious, but also she's a rock star and she
should do whatever makes her feel the best.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
Right. Okay, that's all the headlines we have for you today.
There was a lot of headlines, some juicy ones, some
big ones. Let's see if Kathy and Susan will make
it to paradise. Let's see who will be in paradise. Also,
as always, please go and follow Katie Thurston right now
as she continues to share updates, educate, advocate, but also
in the midst of when somebody is doing so much
(27:34):
to educate and advocate you for you also don't forget
to support her in the best ways possible. So until
next time, I've been Ben.
Speaker 5 (27:44):
I've been Ashley. See you guys.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
