Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
with iHeartRadio Almost Famous.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
The OG's episode Cheers to You, my lovely friends. So
great to see my boy Rye walk in the door.
I stepped on his foot. I gave him a good stop.
I want to make sure he knew I was here.
So Kenyon almost didn't make the trip because the boys
are both sick, but her mom and dad have been
staying with us since Halloween, and we'll be here until Christmas.
(00:26):
Uh two days after Christmas.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Okay, I guess what I'm trying to say.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Is that's a long that's a long time.
Speaker 4 (00:35):
Oh that's right.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
You guys are in the midst of five months. So
it makes my I will not complaining.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
But if it were to be not complaining, I am
very gratefuy that my in laws have allowed us to
live in their home.
Speaker 4 (00:49):
For amazing you have.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
You both have such great family.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
We are very lucky. I think it's just we're the
four of us share a bathroom. Four of us us
two teenagers and two full grown adults, and we share
a bathroom. So anyway, we closed in our house today.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
Okay, that's something to sell it is.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
It's good it's good. It's good. And then we got
on a plane. Like I literally woke up super early
this morning after not being able to sleep, of course,
because we're closing our house. It's been so exciting and
stressful and all the things. And I woke up, got
the kids like up and made sure they're ready to
go to school, drove some stuff over to our new house,
which is like ten minutes away from and then went
(01:37):
and got on a plane flew to LA for the
for the live.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Right. So you let's let's be let's let's explain it here.
So you actually went. So I came in from Detroit.
You came in from Denver, from Denver. Yeah, but you
got here super early because you guys went to the
actual taping of the finale we did with Gary and
his girls.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
I got in a little bit later than you because
my only only thing here was tonight the wrap up. Yep.
So you were at the actual function. What happened.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
It was amazing.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
So you go there, Yeah, you're watching an unfold.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
In real time.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
I mean, you know these ladies.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
I don't know these ladies I met several tonight, love
them like you did. You have an investment in one
person over another, you know.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
What I actually so I met them both when I
came right here a couple doors down, and Leslie immediately
knew who I was and came running up to meet
with Ellen. Ellen and Leslie were like, oh my gosh, Drista,
you know, like screaming my name, gave me a huge hug.
Speaker 4 (02:44):
That's nice.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
And Teresa too, was so kind and sweet. So I
I loved both of them. I honestly didn't. I don't.
I don't like spoilers. I don't know how you feel
about spots.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
I give a spoiler.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
Well, I know I'm not saying that.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
Oh no, I don't like spoilers either.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
I don't like spoilers. And I could have very well
found out when had happened, and I didn't want to
because I don't like spoilers. But I will say so.
The whole thing with how Gary says like, you know,
I can't choose the person I'm going to live with.
I want to choose the person I can't live without.
That came back.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
That's you. I remember you saying. That's why I was
left on the cutting and floor. So that's why I
wasn't in episode eight.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
Nine, Season four.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
So we are sitting at this table having lunch. I
screwed over. I asked him how it's going, and you know,
we get into this conversation and that's where that advice
came from. But when we were talking, I swear and
I have a really bad memory, as I think, you know,
I have a horrible, horrible memory, and I think that
he told me. I said, so who are you excited about?
(03:55):
And I swear I thought he said Faith and Leslie
and Teresa wasn't like mentioned. But that doesn't mean that
he wasn't thinking about Teresa. It's just I didn't have
her on my life.
Speaker 4 (04:08):
Later, yeah, because in a moment well.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
And honestly, he was just in the moment, like whatever
he said, what he said, it there's no bearing on
it whatsoever. Because as you'll see in the episode, or
what people will have seen tonight, is that things grew
pretty drastically for Teresa and Gary in the Fantasy Suite.
That's so bad and it changed things a lot.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
I think that's why the Fantasy Suite is ultimately important,
because it doesn't matter what goes on behind closed doors,
but it totally matters what goes on behind closed doors.
It could be conversations, could be emotional, it could be
a lot of things. Doesn't have to be physical, but
I'm sure there's some of that as well. But I
think that that's probably the biggest moment because it's the
(04:54):
first time you're not on camera.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
Think I think it's because you can trust, like there's
a trust element to it that the person is being themselves.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
Yeah, I mean, think about think about it. Back to
your season. I mean, this is, you know, twenty years
ago for us when it was your season on The Bachelorette.
I mean, you're behind closed doors with Ryan, and I
can only imagine the mayhem that went behind there. But
that's not what we're talking about right now. What we're
really talking about is the emotional sharing, you know, because
he's an emotion like you you knew he was my
(05:28):
bunkmate in our little horrible man Shuts.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
I'm not nothing like we're it's gorgeous.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
But it was like, you know, he was writing you
poetry every night. He was doing things that that were
genuinely they weren't only seen on the show, but they
were seen, but they weren't seen. The length of which
he went to on a nightly basis was was head
and shoulders above.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
But I mean, you see that stuff.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
When you finally get a chance to spend time with
them behind closed doors, without cameras and without the awkwardness
of a microphone guy.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
It's more like real life and you can trust each
other and know that you're in a safe space. I
feel like anyway, I yes, it was. It was a
great show. Leslie. My heart is just broken wide open
for her. And you know what's what's crazy. It happened
(06:20):
to me. It's exactly what happened to me. Alex Michelle
told me that he was going to choose you. He
literally said you're the one, and then Leslie, he told
her she was the one and she wasn't. And so
my heart, like I really truly sympathize with her. Is
sympathize meaning that you've been through it yourself. I empathized
(06:41):
with her because I've been through it so and I
love Leslie. Leslie, we were actually we've been dming. Like
I mean, love her. I'm really really hoping that she
becomes the Golden Bachelorette because I don't know I did it.
I don't know, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
God, I hope they do.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
I know, I think, I think it's so amazing.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
Here's what I think. I don't know much, and I
have been removed from the franchise in a way for
a long time to put this show together.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
I love the idea of not focusing on the young
hot thing, right. I mean, I hate to say it,
like so Caddy, but that really is kind of no. Yeah,
I mean you're talking about these women who were age
appropriately cast. I love it, and every one of them
that I've met tonight magical beautiful people.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
You are so right beautiful people. God, and they're so
deserving and everyone isn't deserving of love. But I really
truly feel like I am rooting for their age. Yes, right,
because so it was said multiple times in the show
tonight that they don't have much time left.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
And that, oh I guess you think about her standpoint
like can we be married for fifty years?
Speaker 4 (07:59):
No?
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Right? Can we be married for twenty years?
Speaker 3 (08:02):
Can you be married for a day? Like? Literally, Teresa said,
I We've given people hope that there is still love
out there no matter what age you are. Even if
you're ninety and you have a day to live, you
should still try to strive for love. Okay, so questions.
(08:29):
We have a couple of questions and I think they're
actually kind of fun. At what point do you become
an OG?
Speaker 4 (08:34):
So I've been thinking about this today. You were busy
doing my belly.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
Sorry you probably heard that my bone. No want food?
Speaker 2 (08:43):
So I have been thinking about this all day, I think. So,
you know, it's interesting.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
Because thinking about this all day.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
I really have no I thought this, but I like
to sound like I have a little deeper than I am.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
You know, it's funny.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
It's funny, so true, it kind of does kind of
does oh a shallow hell?
Speaker 1 (09:05):
What?
Speaker 2 (09:06):
No, I will say this, I what makes you an
O G? I think we do have a period of
time and I'm not sure what it is. Clearly it's
not old mansion versus new mansion. Because this is my
first time in this place. I will say, I do
think this place is lovely o G vibes. Though it's
(09:27):
a little bit. We have we have some.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
So you're not seeing it when everything's set up with the.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Remember our mansions, we were kind of in the gata.
I mean honestly, I remember staying in that mansion thinking
I might get robbed tonight, and I can tell you
where I'm at now. I don't feel like I'm gonna
get robbed. I could leave my purse out.
Speaker 4 (09:55):
I could.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
I'm not gonna worry about it. I could leave my
hands back, I could leave my handbag out.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
My merse, it's immerse. It's a merse. But at our
old mansion where we did the show.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
Old mansion, I say mansion, I mean guys, I mean
potato tomato point is. It was a lovely ranch. Actually,
I think ourselves it was a Spanish.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
It was.
Speaker 4 (10:20):
It was a Spanish. We couldn't get the guy that
owned it to leave.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
Remember that he was a total creeper with a dog,
and anytime the girls came over in bathing suits, he
was like, hey it is I'm like, dude, can I
please have a one on one here? I mean it
was a disaster. So the fact that he got foreclosed
on not super sat.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
Backup because what girls came over in bathing suits?
Speaker 4 (10:39):
None? But had day, had day. I wanted to be ready.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
WHOA, So you were getting me and you were having
girls over in bathing suits.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
Listen, all I can tell you is this what I
remember of this time of my life was. It was
an infinity pool that overlooked the lovely ocean, and the
house itself was a freakin' You're My man season mine
Andrew Firestones, I think Aaron Burgee's Bergie Bergie. None of
(11:09):
us could sleep. None of us just sleep. I remember
waking up with the Mellanite one night and I was like,
I'm going to walk around and just look around. So
I'm terrified, and I walked around. I'm the only person
because I've watched many horror films, and I'm like, is
this a chainsaw factory? I'm going to walk in here.
But here's the thing. I found the area with which
they shot the show, the what do they call the village.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
I don't know, the confidential room, and.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
I went down there. In Tristano's this story, I went
down there and I'm like, what in the fing h
is this place? And it was beneath the hut.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
That's exactly what you said.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
I might have not said the thing age party. I
might have said the actual words, but now that I
have children, I'm trying to be responsible. I find everything
from submission tapes to addresses to everything of every girl
that's on my season, So I copied them down to
my cell phone was a flip phone at the time,
just to date myself, and I wanted to make sure
I sent them a loving and heartfelt note about why
(12:06):
I really enjoyed them being on my season. I remember
there was a girl on there that had like a
cow or something, and I'm like, how I you know,
just loved learning about your cow. I swear I wanted
to let me know about your cow. And I do
love cows as a people, and I just thought it'd
be nice to let them know that I listened, and
(12:27):
you know, and things of that nature. But I remember
thinking myself, I'm gonna get kicked off the show for this,
and then I remembered halfway through, I'm like, oh wait,
they can't kick me off.
Speaker 4 (12:35):
Oh my god, that's doing the thing with the stuff.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
And so I wasn't kicked off.
Speaker 4 (12:39):
But it was my mansion.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
I hate to say, it was not like this mansion. Yes,
this mansions.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
No, it's amazing, amazing. Okay, who are the newbies and
who are the wise old souls? But what does that mean?
What does that question mean?
Speaker 2 (12:55):
We we're wise old? We know that part. Well, at
least I am You're.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
Still Okay, What I do want to ah, thanks, What
I do want to bring up is the fact that
I believe that the ogs, even though they're considered the
the older shows. Okay, so when it comes to time, right,
so time is on on right. But what I want
(13:21):
to want to what I want to point out is
OG's are the first to do something. So I was
a Dancing with the Stars OG, and I was a
celebrity marriage boot Camp OG. And these people on Golden Bachelor,
(13:43):
and I don't say women because it was Gary too.
All the people on Golden Bachelor were og in my mind,
even though the show is not old, it's brand new,
but they are OG's in my mind because they are
the first.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
Okay, so that, but we also have to think about
it from the standpoint of, like from from the Bachelor
franchise itself, where do our ogs come into play? So yeah,
I mean, it can't just be the first because we'd
have a really short season. So we got to think
about it from the standpoint of, like I think there's
a threshold or a window, like I think, like, for example,
Ben and I were talking to Ben Higgins. You guys
(14:23):
might know, I call him my boss because he's the
almost famous guy and then we're the O G O
G guys. I think he he said to me he
might have been the first or second season in this mansion.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
M hm.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
So I find that interesting because he's got some stories
about this place different. Also, you know they did they
did The Bachelor, not in Paradise.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
I came here, I came here before. I've been here before.
I've never been Yeah, that's crazy. Is it crazy?
Speaker 4 (14:57):
Walk in here?
Speaker 2 (14:58):
I'm like, what the hell?
Speaker 3 (14:59):
You know?
Speaker 2 (15:00):
I said right to them, like, Ryan, have we ever
been here?
Speaker 3 (15:02):
Now?
Speaker 4 (15:02):
He goes, no, I'm he goes, he goes in the car.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
I was never invited. I'm like, wow, I mean the
only time I came was Bachelor Pad and then when
I was just here for the pickleball date with Golden Bachelor,
and then they had an event where Sean Lowe and
I were handing out roses as the press walked in. Yeah, well, sorry.
Speaker 2 (15:24):
I do love Sheloh. I'm not gonna lie to you, guys.
I do love Shelmloh. But that that does kind.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
Of hurt my og. I didn't plan it.
Speaker 4 (15:30):
I will say that.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
I am very honored to be here. I'm excited. To
see it. I love that Ryan and I are saying
at the same time because I think we are two
of the serious ogs. Yes, so for us to be
here in the mix for the first time together, yeah,
kind of a thing.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
And I think, like you were saying, where's the cutoff,
We've had people on the show on the Ogs. We
have interviewed multiple people from from different seasons, so we've
on I don't know, Claire lo Lee was on it,
Ashley Rosenbaumer a bear, She's been on our show, Jillian
(16:11):
Harris's season.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
I'm ready to people, I'm ready to expand.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
I don't well, I don't know should we expand people?
So what I would love is if people are listening.
Hopefully someone's out there listening. Hi, if your listen, mom,
I want to know. We want to know what you
think the definition of an OG is. And then who
(16:35):
would you like to hear on the show? Would you
like to hear people from the first, second, third, fourth,
fifth seasons? Or should we go to like the Ben
Higgins season? Right, Like, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
My mindset is this. I think that as the show
continues to grow year over year, Yeah, the OG threshold. Also,
it's a sliding scale, right, So I think we're going
to start finding ourselves talking to first season Bachelor, Yeah,
first season of Bachelor Paradises or second and third, because.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
I would like to talk to Bachelor and Paradise first season,
and I would like to talk to Bachelor pad like
like Holly Julian, love to talk to her, love her.
I'd love to have people by Agra guy remember he
married Oh yeah, oh Evan.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
Carly and Evan.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
They were in the first season of Bachelor and Paris.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
I feel like they were. Maybe I'd like to talk.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
I'd like to have Carly on.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
He seems like he's an active dad. I love you know.
They wanted things that are redeeming qualities about people, and
we need to figure them out and we need to
talk about them. And these people need to have a
platform with which to do things other than promote tooth
whitening kids.
Speaker 3 (17:53):
Well and honestly well, by the way, I don't think
anyone does that anymore.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
So are the hair gummy bears.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
They don't do that anymore.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
Damn, I really need to catch up you.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
He's an og he's real.
Speaker 4 (18:06):
Super I don't really pan att.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
I wore short socks then I think I.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Was literally gonna comment, so okay, so very funny story.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
I brought no long socks.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
Okay, so listen. At the show tonight, we were sitting
next to Jennifer love Hewitt, who I know you have
a story about, but or at least your wife there.
She loves the show and.
Speaker 4 (18:39):
We dated for a short time.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
You did.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
I didn't know that you did. Reese Witherspoon's grandma or
mother and daughter were there, and I'm so mad I
didn't take a picture with them because I'm a huge.
Speaker 4 (18:56):
You what do you think my story?
Speaker 2 (18:58):
What's my story about? Jail h if? I I don't know?
Speaker 3 (19:00):
Your wife just said you need to ask him, as was.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
So Jennifer and I. First of all, Jennifer love hewittt
is a lovely person.
Speaker 4 (19:09):
Love and readable talent.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
I'll tell you, yes, we've met many years ago.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
And wait, were you at the place where we were?
So we went to the the President's what is this called?
Speaker 2 (19:24):
I know I wasn't there. I wasn't anything of the president.
You get invited that stuff. I get invited to the vice.
Speaker 4 (19:33):
The vice kitchen consultant role.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
Okay, we're gonna have Trista come to the Vice President
and the President's dinner. Bob, you go to the vice
kitchen closet controllers.
Speaker 3 (19:46):
Okay, that's funny, because do you know what I have
to say? So last night I was really depressed because, well,
first of all, my daughter was kind of mean to me,
and then my son didn't want to listen to me.
I mean, they're teenagers.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
I call that a third day exactly.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
No, you just wait until they're teenagers. So, and then
I get on social media and all these people that
I'm friends with that I follow, They're all posting about
how they're at the Variety most influential women in reality television.
And I was like, oh, okay, I.
Speaker 4 (20:21):
Guess okay, I get it. I guess my No, I
get it, I get it. You're in my Maybe they
didn't know your move.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
Yeah, yeah, they were living with your in Luve exactly,
and so their their invitation got lost in.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
The Variety and the Direct TV I I and I
just worked with DirecTV, and I was like, I was
an influential and I was an influential woman in reality television.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
Okay, you think that would bum me up when you
when you first started talking about it, I thought I
was thinking I get over it, dude, It's fine. But
then when you said the most.
Speaker 4 (20:57):
Influent women in reality TV show, I'm like.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
Trista, that's kind of who you are. You are the
most influential in reality I don't think that. I don't
think I think anyway.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
Okay, so we digress again and again and again. But
so we were talking about getting left out. What were
you talking? Oh, you were talking about Jennifer Jennifer love HEWITTT.
So that's your story. You have to finish with this.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
All I will say is that she's a lovely person.
We spent some time together and I really enjoy our company.
And she is an amazing talent. Not only is she
is a wonderful actress. She's a great singer. Yes, and
she's sang with my band and before she.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
Saw about Bob's band, fat Amy.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Well, not that she sang with band from TV. Trist
I love that you went there. But she went to
band from TV which was my celebrity band, and she
came in and it was amazing. But yeah, she's such
(22:02):
a talent and such a lovely person.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
Yea.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
And yeah, so we had we had some really wonderful times.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
Okay, that's all, we'll leave it up anyway. We had
a really fun time with Jennifer Love Hewett. But the
socks reminded me. So Ryan is wearing Converse tonight because
he wears Converse with boot with suits.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
First of all, those are some shoes.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
Hey, thanks, what are those?
Speaker 2 (22:22):
Those are some high.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
So he had on white like like not not knee highs,
but you know, like knee high okay, no higher than
that with his converse because he forgot to bring like
other socks. And he turns to Jennifer love Hewitt and
he's like, are these do you think they're? Should? I should?
(22:51):
I have foreigners? And the friend that she brought had
white socks on two and so we took a picture.
I'll share.
Speaker 2 (22:59):
I love it.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
This is so great. All right, great, So we've had
a great episode here of the Almost Famous Ogs. We
got so much more to come.
Speaker 4 (23:08):
Stick around four Part two.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
