Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Hey guys, welcome to the Almost Famous podcast. Today we're
talking headlines. Ben had sort of a headline making weekend
himself as he organized a big Bachelor Guide strip to
his home state of Indiana where they golfed. It was
Zach Clark, Joey, You Wells, Dean, am I missing anyone,
(00:28):
Joe Oh Grocery Shore Joe. What a great group. I
want to hang out with that group.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
It was a great time.
Speaker 4 (00:36):
We're gonna have him on to talk all about it.
We have a lot of fun stuff coming out. We
actually had thirty six guys there, so, as I mentioned,
it was like buddies from middle school, high school, college,
my first job out of college, and then post that
job into the bachelor world and today and so yeah,
(00:58):
we had everybody from pastors to influencers to accountants all
mixed in together. Nobody knew everybody except for me, which
made it really fun. It was an incredible trip to
French Lick, Indiana, one of the best golf resorts in
the country. We had a lot of fun, a lot
(01:20):
of stories to be had. I did not play well,
so I'm frustrated, but we will have hopefully most of
those guys able to come on next week kind of
talk about the trip, talk about what it was like
to be together, because there was no you know, here's
what I wanted to do. I wanted to bring everybody
together because they're friends. There was no expectation for publicity
(01:42):
or content or exposure. There was no asks or requests,
and so it was a trip just to be friends.
And I'm excited to hear kind of how they felt
about that. I don't know if many of us go
on trips anymore where there's not some reciprocal ask that
(02:03):
needs to be done in exchange. But I really wanted
to make sure that this was just a trip to
hang out because I.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
Liked these guys.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
What did everybody stay?
Speaker 4 (02:12):
We stayed at French Lick. It's the West Baden resort.
It's a very nice old like it was built in
the eighteen hundreds. It's if you look it up, it
used to be called the ninth Wonder of the World.
It's a huge dome. I was nervous, honestly, bringing thirty
six guys in to a like five star resort was
(02:32):
very scary for me.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
That they would tear it up. Nobody did.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
Nobody got arrested, nobody got in trouble, nobody broke anything.
But I was nervous. But we stayed there and then
we played the three courses that French Lick has kind
of around the resort, had dinners there at night. They
have a casino. We watched a lot of like basketball together,
stayed up way too late at my watch, said, I
(02:59):
averaged four hours and thirty minutes of sleep every night,
which is crazy.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Was it three nights?
Speaker 4 (03:04):
It's three nights, two days of golf, three nights. We
got in Sunday. I think it's three nights. Yes, Sunday night,
Monday night, Tuesday night, left Wednesday morning. So Sunday night
we just did a big like welcome party with food
in the game. And then Tuesday thirty six or Monday
thirty six holes of golf, Tuesday eighteen holes of golf,
(03:25):
and then I had a big campfire setup. They have
like this amazing stables set up there at French Lick,
and so we had like a big campfire with everybody
and just hung out for the rest of the afternoon,
which was great.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
I know that you want to have the guys on
to talk about the experience, but just give us one
little didbit for the week. What was the best laugh
that you had?
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Oh goodness.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
I mean for me, this was like a laugh the
whole time because I had so many men I loved
throughout my life. There At one time we did have
a camera like that kind of a drone that followed
the trip. I wanted to capture the trip for these
guys that helped me plan it. They're called golf trip
(04:12):
makes sense. They helped me plan this trip, and I
wanted to make sure we got good video and photos.
And the funniest was just the guys kind of getting
caught peeing in the woods by the drone.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
That was my favorite. I think.
Speaker 4 (04:28):
Also, I rented out the high Limit room one night
at the casino, so it'd just be us in there,
and so we got all around a craps table and
played craps and it was just full of laughs.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
And cheers and hugs.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
I don't know, it's just it's a really cool thing
to have so many people that I have memories with.
And one of the things I'm sure these guys and
I won't talk about, but I went to a store
here in Denver called Pins and Aces. It's a golf
brand and they do like really cool head covers and
golf apparel. And I went in and picked out a
(05:04):
headcover because they have like two hundred different head covers
in there for like your clubs. Yeah, that reminded me
of each person. So like, wait, guy, have you.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
Bought thirty something golf headtops.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
I did for these guys?
Speaker 2 (05:18):
How much you're one of those things?
Speaker 4 (05:20):
Oh they're not too like they're they're I mean, it
wasn't a cheap trip for me, no, because the guys
only had to pay for their food while they're there.
So it was yeah, but it was worth it, like
I think it's worth it to if I'm able to
bring everybody together. But it was in like thirty six
to fifty bucks a head cover and so but it
(05:40):
was fun to like pick out Like a guy I
know gets a ton of sunburns, Like he doesn't ever
not sunburn He's like has like really light hair and
he like really fair skin. And so I got him
like a hot like a fire hot sauce headcover.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
I got wells like.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
A a transfusion, which is like a golf drink headcover
for his you know, and he had flown back from
Paradise to get there for this, which meant a lot too.
There was a sacrifice there on everybody's end for him
to be there. Dean flew in from Bolivia for this,
(06:17):
so there was just a lot of like sacrifices that
these guys made. I got Dean a leopard. I don't
think he liked it, but I got him a leopard
because he's an adventure I got Zach Clark an Abe
Lincoln headcover because I think Zach Clark could change the
world and he is honest and a man of integrity.
(06:39):
I got Joe a Ninja Turtles because all the Ninja
Turtles are Italian.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
Man, this is so good. I love this because you know,
I love personalized gifts. It's so awesome.
Speaker 4 (06:51):
Yeah, so I got Wells, I said, Wells's Dean, Zach's
Joe's who I'm missing out of the group.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
Of bachelor guys. Oh, Joey.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
I got Joey at Dancing Flamingos headcover for Dancing with
the Stars, and it's like a bunch of Flamingos doing
dance moves.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
Oh that's so fun. I love that so much.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
Honestly, if you're looking for a personalized gift for somebody,
that golfs, pens, and aces is the way to go.
It just has so many different options. They were great
and they were super fun. And so I started out
the weekend by because again, not everybody knew each other,
So I started out the weekend by like pulling out
the head cover explaining why I got it for this
person and how I knew them, and then they would
(07:35):
walk up and get it, and so everybody in there
would be able to like be like, oh, that's so
and so he has dancing flamingos. That's the guy from
the Bachelor. Because I don't think any of my buddies
watched the show.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
That's such a good idea to put things together, give
him something to spark a conversation. Ben, what are your
head covers on your own clubs?
Speaker 3 (07:57):
It's Waylan my dog.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
So it looks just like Whalen.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
It's literally Whalen remaxed.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
It's hilarious. Oh you made it.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
It was like personalized, it's personalized.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
And then I got like a sasquatch head cover because
there's a sasquatch museum in Bailey, Colorado. Just about twenty
minutes from my house, and I think it's the funniest,
fun most interesting place.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
And I'm like obsessed with sasquatch now.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
And so I got a sasquatch head cover from Pens
and Aces because.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
You know, does he does he live or not?
Speaker 4 (08:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (08:31):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
But if my voice sounds weak, it's because I spent
all week and not sleeping and yelling. Yeah, because you
get thirty six dudes in one place and it's it's
hurting cats all the time, and so you're just yelling
commands at everybody. And I woke up Wednesday morning and
(08:56):
I can't. I haven't been able to get my voice
back yet. I'm just now recovering.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
So yeah, it was great.
Speaker 4 (09:02):
And my dad was there, my father in law was there,
my brother in law was there, so you know, they
got to be around these guys again, meet a lot
of them for the first time. My dad knew a
lot of them just from life, but get to meet them.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
It was just special. And I think, you know, I
want to do it more often.
Speaker 4 (09:24):
And and but you know, it's it's one of those
times that you don't know how many times you're gonna
get to do.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
It and so it. Jessica said it best.
Speaker 4 (09:31):
She said, Hey, when you when we got married, you
looked around the room and I whispered in her ear.
At our wedding she said, I said, hey, I'm just
now realizing this is one of the only times in
my life that so many people I love are going
to be in one room. And she's like, you found
a way to do it again, and I was like,
you know what, You're right like this this is special
(09:51):
for me.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
It's what I think life's all about.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
I feel that, and it is depressing at your wedding
to realize that that is one of those. So it's
cool that you were able to have sort of a
similar one.
Speaker 4 (10:04):
Yeah, and I'm sure we're going to get the guys
on here and they're going to talk about the golf.
I do want to mention Wells is going to love
this and he's going to see the headline.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
What did he tell you about Paradise?
Speaker 4 (10:17):
Yeah, I'm sworn to secrecy. The head to head matchup
that I had with Wells, I did beat him. I
want to make sure that is clear and out there.
So that is three times in a row now in
our head to head matchups. When we play with each other,
that I do come out on top, and that is
a brag. That is me floating my ego out into
the world and also saying there's very few people in
(10:38):
this world I'd rather beat at golf than Wells Adams.
And I know he's going to hate it if he
hears this and sees it, and I love that so much.
So yeah, that's my big takeaway from the weekend. Joey Dean,
Wells and I got the play in our own group
one day against each other, and it came down to
(10:59):
the last hole, but some mispuss later and I walked
away with a one hundred bucks from each.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
Good job, Thank you.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
You're the best of all of them.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
No, I can't say that. I think Wells is better.
But for some reason, I think I'm in his head. Yeah, yeah,
I think he just shuts down. I think I just
stare out to you.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
You're the Eli Manning to his Tom Brady.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
Yes I am.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
He just gets on the course and he wants to
one so bad that he acts like he doesn't He
acted like he didn't care. Oh, it burns him inside.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
All right, She'll we get into other headlines.
Speaker 4 (11:40):
Yeah, we have some big headlines today, ash and and
we will bring those guys on to talk all about it.
Uh and I have a lot of good I have
a lot of questions for them based on the trip.
First headline is this we're getting our first look at
Bachelor in Paradise is season tens. They call it chic
new Costa Rican digs. I guess I can spoil this
(12:02):
because it's not really a spoiler. The weather was really
bad down there. It's Costa Rica this time of year,
it's rainy season. It's not like it's always bad. It's
usually a beautiful place. But I do know it was bad.
You can look at that on the weather forecast or
you know, maybe talk to somebody who's there.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
Okay, well that sucks. It's called the Azora Beach Resort
in Costa Rica. If you google it, it's a four
star hotel. I was told by one of the cast
members that it did take a four It was four
hours from the airport I drive, so that's rough. But
the thing about this season, as we suspected a few
(12:40):
weeks ago, there won't be any crabs around and there
won't be any excessive sweating because every contestant gets a
room with four walls, air conditioning and a private pool.
That's nuts they when they write this this is an
Entertainment Weekly article, do they truly mean that each person
has their own room with their own pool. And when
(13:04):
we say pool, like I'm looking at a picture right now,
it's kind of like a big pool. But every room
has its own entrance way, like a walking entrance way
into the pool, which is very nice. I can see there.
There's a bonus too, Okay, So I like to see
everybody sweat. And I think that, like that survival camping
experience that is traditionally a paradise thing, I think that
(13:28):
that like brings more drama. It's probably just because of
the way that I experienced it, but like I think
that's like we must survive, we must survive in love,
we must survive in this heat. I just I like
that it comes along with like amazing race, survive or
whatever you want to call it, like that kind of vibe.
(13:49):
But this is gonna be more lux I would feel
like this is gonna be more of like a love
Island situation. I will say I think drama could come
from this because because if everybody has their own room,
that means there's probably going to be a lot more
hookups early on, because I think there's a lack of
(14:10):
privacy in Plia Escandida. Everybody knows everybody's business. We're all
sharing eight to ten people a room with bunk beds.
Some people are even sharing beds. Nothing really has a
door with a lock. Everything's made out of straw and
you know, plywood. And in this case, they're going to
(14:31):
have like resort rooms, and I think that that's going
to mean a lot more dirtyness, if you know what
I mean.
Speaker 4 (14:38):
I think the last spot also was good for bonding.
It took away that kind of reality television aspect where
you're like, I don't really know what your life looks
like outside of this, and what is life like when
everything's not plush and comfortable. I always appreciated seeing how
people handle the bugs in the sweat and the dirt
and the downtime. I do do you think this will
(15:00):
add a different element? I actually actually will say. My
guess is that there are less hookups because the privacy is.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
Yes more.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
I don't think people didn't hook up because of privacy, though,
I think it's because of the cameras and the cameras
still are going to be there. Yeah, And how weird
is it to be like, Hey, we're going back to
my room and then there's two camera crews following you
and it's just like the four of you in your
room together. I actually think it would be more common
to make out on a sunny love seat with thirty
(15:34):
people around that it would be with like you and
two camera guys.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
No, I understand. I'm reading this article further, and they
say that each person will have one roommate, but they
won't be sleeping in bunk beds and there will be
a VIP suite available much similar to the Boom Boom
Room for special quote quote occasions, to get a loan,
time with a proviential love interests. This room has a
real private pool, It's on the top floor with a
(16:01):
jacuzzie and a full on kitchen, huge balconies. It is, Yes,
they're saying, like the Boom Boom Room, but a lot nicer.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
I mean it's helpful.
Speaker 4 (16:12):
It is helpful, and I've always respected like the Jaden
Tanner move, where they just pretty much call the Boom
Boom Room their own because they're like, I know, we're
getting married, we love each other and it's the only
place that's air conditioned, and so we're just going to
call it our own.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
But they didn't sleep together for quite some time, sure
the room.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
But yeah, but like it was smart, it was a
good move. I've always appreciated it. Next headline is this, Well,
I guess we'll close that and say we're looking forward
to Paradise. I think it's going to be different, it's
going to be interesting. I am excited to watch the changes.
I hope the changes are good because I do believe
it is one of our biggest chances to see The
(16:52):
Bachelor return next year is if Paradise does well this year,
So it's there's a lot riding on it.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
Ben did Wells tell you anything about the accommodations.
Speaker 4 (17:02):
Not necessarily. We didn't talk too much of honestly about Paradise.
It's I usually try not to because you know, it's
his job and he has an NDA. But he did
say that it rained a lot, that it was really hot,
really humid, and that was about I mean, that's all
I really do remember. I don't know anything about relationships
(17:24):
that went on, people that came or went.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
He did say there was a lot of twists.
Speaker 4 (17:30):
It like was different than years before, which I think
has already been talked about like that it's going to
change it up quite a bit for this year.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
But no, I did not get a lot.
Speaker 4 (17:41):
Of like juicy details, okay, and it makes it harder
to do this show when I do years past, I've
gotten juicy details, and then I'm like lying to everybody
the whole time being like.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
Yeah, I don't really know what happened. I didn't have
no clue what happened.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
I know, I know.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
Nick Viile looks back on uncomfortable moment with the Valleys
Jasmine Good on The Bachelor.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
This is interesting. So obviously Nick does a lot of
recapping of the Bravo shows, the Valley being one of them,
and his former cast the former cast member from his season, Jasmine,
has been on it. And he said on his podcast
that he would love an apology from Jasmine because he's
still triggered from the time that she was on his
(18:34):
season and she was trying to express anger towards him
because she was frustrated by not getting one on one
so she put her hand on Nick's throats. I remember
the moment. It was bizarre, and she's just like, your
behavior makes me want to choke you, and apparently he
still wants an apology for it.
Speaker 4 (18:56):
Good for him for even remembering what people did during
his season. Somebody was asking me that this weekend about
my time on The Bachelor. I'm like, I don't remember
half of it.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
I couldn't tell you, Like now you've been saying that
that's what also Molly was saying or anything.
Speaker 4 (19:10):
I guess it's just been like so far removed. But
I'm sure he could get one. I'm sure she doesn't
think twice about it, or if she does, it's one
of those moments that she's like, I wish I wouldn't
have done that.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
Oh yeah, she probably had. It's one of those moments
where she lies in bed at night and then it
pops in her head and she's like, oh my god,
oh my god, my god, suppressed memories.
Speaker 4 (19:28):
Yeah, well, how do I do these things? Hey, we
have update on the Clayton Eckered not trial. But we
have some updates on the pre trial hearing for Laura Owens,
the woman that allegedly lied about pregnancy with the former
Bachelor star. Her arraignment is scheduled. Ashley, what do we know?
Speaker 2 (19:51):
Yeah, so we do know. We talked about it that
earlier this month, Americopa County grand Jury did indict her
on several felony charges, including fraudulent schemes, forgery, and perjury.
Now there is we're waiting to hear about how she's
going to get sentenced. She did enter a not guilty
(20:11):
plea in court on Thursday. She wasn't present in the courtroom,
but she appeared virtually and the prosecutors are saying that
she went to extreme links to manipulate Clayton. We will
know more at a pre trial hearing, which is scheduled
for July eleventh. The real trial will begin on October
twenty third.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
Teresa Niss's life is updated after her breakup and also
we find out if she had paradise fomo oh.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
She was on a podcast this week and she said
that Gary recently called her before going news with the
public that he has a new girlfriend, and she said
that she wishes the best for him, but that was
very polite of him to do, and she said that
she has a wonderful relationship of friendship with her runner up, Leslie,
(21:02):
and Leslie is on paradise and well, Teresa said that
appearing on Paradise wasn't for her. We don't know whether
she was asked or not, but she said that it.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
Wasn't for her.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
She says she's ready to cheer on her friend as
she goes on the beach, and she did say that
she has a bit of fomo but is excited to
go to the watch party at Leslie's house and watch
her journey. So I mean, yeah, we don't know whether
she said yes or no, and Teresa totally should have
said yes, but I understand that's she's gone through a
(21:34):
lot with the show in the best year and a
half two years.
Speaker 4 (21:36):
But when we talked to her last it sounded like
she wanted to be back out there in the public.
So it's shocking that she would say no. In fact,
I would have her, Yeah, it would. It's a big
name from that season, maybe the biggest. So kind of
interesting that she is now saying she was not there. Actually,
Rachel kirconnell is talking about Matt James. She went on
(21:59):
a podcast called The Squeeze. Her quote is that she
once to remained friends with Matt James. I don't think
that's the most interesting part here. I think most exes
that end the relationship in some type of healthy way,
and it sounds like they did even from her interview
interviews right after the breakup, would say publicly they want
(22:23):
to remain friends. I mean, what other option do you have?
You want to say no, I never want to talk
to that person again. But I think the most interesting
part is that she's still emotional as she reflects back
on her relationship with Matt James, because it feels like
there is still this not maybe love poll, but there
(22:43):
is this poll towards him and that time together.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
Yeah, the Squeeze is Taylor and Taylor Lotner's Taylor's Time Too,
Lotner's podcast, and on it, she said, people are going
to kill me for this, but I do wish on
some level we could be friends because he was my
best friend. So it sounds as if they're not actually
friends right now, but she would like to be. She said,
(23:08):
I'm trying not to cry, and of course he was
my best friend for years and we're friends. We were
friends before boyfriend and girlfriend in our relationship, not like
every relationship is like that. And for me at times,
I was like, it really does just seem like we're
best friends and again. So many relationships are different, and
I love that, but I want all my relationship to
feel like the man that I'm dating is actually my
(23:31):
best friend. First, she said that there's part of me
that will always be rooting for him, and we'll hope
that he's doing okay. I would love to maybe some
days someday, not anytime soon. Don't worry, guys, but like
have a catch up. If we run into each other
at event, I would love to be able to sit
down have a conversation. I'll laugh a catch up. I
(23:53):
don't think either of us will have any bad blood,
so maybe when we're ready to be like fully moved on,
that's something that we can do. Well.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
Yeah, one of the breakdowns from her interviews was that
he was still calling her. I think he probably sounds
like got the hint and stopped calling her, so it
doesn't sound like they're speaking very often, which is healthy
for a breakup. No matter where and how you break up,
I think it's healthy to cut ties for a period
of time and allow both people to move on and
get their lives back in order. And Rachel's definitely done that.
(24:25):
Goodness gracious, she's blown up since the breakup. She's everywhere
now speaking to somebody who's everywhere. This person was also
in Paradise. Hannah Brown celebrated her bachelorette party in Florida.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
Hannah posted distant Instagram the house that they stayed at,
and she was like, bachelorettes in your thirties are different
than bachelorettes in your your twenties. You just like kind
of want to sit in a nice house with your girls.
And it's not about like going out and partying. It's
more about like being in a house and having good
conversations and good food. And that's what she did. Her
(25:01):
wedding is coming up any well, I feel like in
a month or so. And they did like a little
fun dress up nights. They did a Hannah era. It
was like dress up as your favorite or different Hannah era,
you know, like her pageant era, her bachelorette era, her
wedding era. And the only other Bachelor Nation friend that
(25:23):
was there was Heather Martin, and she dressed up as
bachelorette Hannah. She was holding a rose in a red gown.
Speaker 3 (25:31):
Yeah, they've been friends for a long time, very close.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
The final headline is this Jin Tran reveals she's a mom.
