Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Benn and Ashley I almost famous podcast
with IR Radio. Hey, I'm here to get us in
the mood and kick us off because a new season
of the Bachelor isn't really that soon yet, but it's coming.
And we got a promo Ben, and we have Astley
here as well Asley on this episode, Um, Peter Webber's
(00:26):
promo comes out. What do you think? Well, I think
it's like a very stereotypical at first. You know, the
first half of the trailer is like the standard um
voiceover of girls like, oh my god, I can't believe
this is happening to me. My heart is broken. I
want to lick him up and down. And then we
(00:46):
get the good stuff because Hannah Brown, it looks like
in the middle of the season comes in tells Peter
about her lingering feelings for him possibly and he is like, oh,
Hannah Brown. And of course the way they edit it
makes it look like the girls are really annoyed to
(01:08):
see her. It looks good, it looks really good. But
I also saw that little tease that Hannah comes out
of the limo all night one, So does that mean
at least two Hannah appearances this season? I don't know.
Let's see I I wonder now, Well, first off, let's
let's pause for a second. Switch gears, congratulations to Hannah
(01:29):
Brown and when he Dancing with the Stars. Uh, she's
crushing her right now. And actually, I gotta ask you,
is it weird for somebody that feels like she has
the credibility Hannah has right now and it's kind of
living her best life as we heard carry Anne and
Armors say to go back onto the show. Well, I mean,
let's figure out the timeline of this. I'm thinking that
(01:53):
Peter's peers A premiere episode was filmed the last week
of September, and that would have coincided with Hannah's first
week or so of Dancing with the Stars, so she
would have had no idea how far she was gonna go.
At that point, she could have been eliminated on Dancing
with the Stars Week one. Um. Sure, I think that
a lot of people are gonna be like, Oh, hold
(02:14):
yourself up to a higher standard. Don't go back to
like somebody that you dum's and go back on the
show as a non lead after you are a lead.
I don't who's who's done that? Who's gone the show?
Who's going on the show after they've been a lead? Anyone?
I don't remember the contestant. I don't think anybody has
come back as a contestant who was a lead. I did.
(02:38):
I did on the Winter Games. That's the only time. Yeah,
oh yeah, oh damn, maybe that Maybe you are the
only one. How did you get anything for that? Not really,
not really because Winter Games was such a new experience.
Nobody knew what it was like, nobody had any idea. Now,
(03:02):
I think it's different when you're going back onto the
big show, you know, the one that matters. I don't know.
I don't think it's bad. I remember when Nick Vile
was on, was second on his season with Andy and
then came back onto Caitlyn season and people were saying,
move on, you've had your chance. My thought is this,
(03:22):
who said we only are allowed one chance? Or who's
anybody agree with that? Go back if you feel it,
if you get a chance in Paradise, and you get
multiple chances in Paradise. Honestly, because so many people go
back for second seasons there that if you get second
chances in Paradise, why can't you have second chances on
the big show? We thought that Actilly did that as well,
(03:43):
and I don't think anybody really frowned upon her for that,
especially since watching you on Caitlyn season. I think she
genuinely felt like something could work out between you guys,
based on what she knew about him and possibly Hannah
after what she went through with Jed is thinking that
she really didn't make a mistake. Um letting Peter go,
(04:07):
am I crazy? Here? Two thoughts here, actually, One is
do I remember that Brad Willmack tried to come back
onto Joejoe's season? That wasn't Brad, that was Jake Calvacco.
Remember he didn't try. He was there because he was
a family friend and he was there for moral support
(04:27):
as somebody that you could coach you for guidance. But
really it was for the trailer. It was for all
the great pieces. They get people hyped up to see
Jake Povacca come and beg to be part of the thing,
but you know, it never really turns out the way
that it's alluded to in the trailers. Yeah, that's a
good point. And then the second thought is this that
(04:51):
did Tyler Cameron or Peter get second, I forget why
am I blanking this. Tyler got second. However, both Tiler
and Peter were sent home in this same episode, which
is why you're thinking that. Okay, so she's saying her
feelings for Peter never wavered. She still has a kind
of his like underlying feelings. Go back at it, because
(05:14):
here's the thing I know is the chances that Peter
ends up with somebody are fairly fairly high after he's
the bachelor, So she feeling like he could be the one,
and she wants to see it through. I can't hate
her at all or hate on her at all for
going back. I think, after the bazillion times on this podcast,
and a big proponent, especially when it comes to well,
(05:34):
when it comes to anything, but in this case love,
don't let there be any what ifs, because you should
go through life with as little as possible so you
know that you like are firm, and each decision that
you make, you know, just for everything to the fullest extent.
(05:56):
Here's my concern actually, and I think that Peter season
of a Bachelor is gonna be terrific. I've said that,
I think that I believe it, but I always have
a little hesitancy and and hear me out here. When
I see a promo that kind of throws in some curveballs,
like a hand of Brown showing up, or like Joejoe's
(06:16):
season when Jake Povolca came up, I always think, was
the season not gonna be interesting enough on its own
that they had to throw in something like this to
spark our interests? Was there not enough captivating footage and
the season to make us want to watch? And I
think that's my concerned watching this promo is, Hey, it's
just like every other promo. You really aren't getting a
(06:37):
lot from it. There's never really any truth to it.
It just gets us sucked in and gets as excited again.
But when you see a Jake PoCA come on the
promo or a Hannah Brown, it makes me wonder, hey,
did they have to do this just so we're interested? Okay,
so I would say good point there, But if she
really does come out of the limo on night one,
(06:58):
that means that the whole season to even unfold yet,
and they still want her there for that singer on
night one. So you never know how a season is
gonna unfold, even if you know a little bit about
the cast personalities. So let's just go ahead and say
Hannah is hot right now, and they want what's hot
(07:19):
to stick around on their show. I get it. I
get it. Well, Hey, after watching the promo, my takeaways
this Peter looks good. He shows emotion, he shows smiles.
The women are are obviously going to be drawn in.
He feels like he's a great catch for any person.
And so I think this is gonna be a great
season because real love is going to be found or
(07:39):
at least explored. And I believe after this promo, I
am more and more excited to watch Peter Webber as
the Bachelor. But let's move on for a second and
celebrate Hannah. Separate her from coming onto the show. She
is now the mirror ball holder. She was the champion,
I would say, going into the finale, it was expected
that she would win, right, Yeah, I happy then. I've
never really want a full season of fantial Mother Stars.
(08:02):
But from everything that I saw and heard, she was
absolutely the front runner because every week I was hearing
about her performance and I and nobody and nobody else,
no other names were sticking out. Well, I were pumped
for Hannah. She's she's obviously, I mean, we got a
lot of people last night kind of got a message saying, hey,
(08:24):
make sure you vote for Hannah. She's been through a
lot this year. I know she's been through a lot.
I know she's gotten her criticism. I know, you know,
obviously the situation with Jed was unfortunate for her, but
I also feel like Hannah Brown is definitely the phoenix
rising to the top and living her best life right
now and from all of us at almost from this podcast,
congratulations Hannah. What an accomplishment, what a feat And I
(08:45):
know it was not an easy journey. What a year
she has had. It's unbelievable that girl is. Uh, she's
cruising and she's working hard, and she's dominating. She's started dominating.
She um. I think she might be the most popular,
one of the most popular Bachelor contestants of all time.
(09:06):
Maybe if not, here's the crazy part. Well, and remember Ashley,
when we first started talking about Hannah, you had to
convince me that she was going to be a good
Bachelor because we had watched her on the first episode
and everybody was like, this is gonna be terrible. She
can't even talk, she's gonna be boring, this is gonna
be goofy and you're like, no, I like her because
she's real And look at where we sit now, I
(09:29):
got good increased people. Anyway, a few more things I
want to mention before we move on to this very
exciting episode where we're going to answer all of the
questions that you guys have sent in about the behind
the scenes of Bachelor filming. One, Peter's hair looks great
(09:50):
in the teether. Don't you think that? Like the criticism
that he got for his hair. It's all it's all gone,
it's all out the wayside because his haircut is looking amazing.
Also loved this with his hair. Come on, everybody was
talking about how his hair was just too boy Scout
two squeaky clean. He looks like a little bit more hugged.
(10:11):
That's a girl thing. Girl note. Okay, Number two. Piece
of news that I want to discuss really briefly. It
looks like Tyler Cameron may have moved on from Giuji
with Kylie Jenner's best friend. Um naturally my mind right now,
but she's very pretty and I think that he might
(10:33):
have had a little outing with Kylie or Kendall this
this weekend. So we gotta keep our eyes peeled for
that romance. He's really he's getting all those young celebrity circles.
Is it is her name Stacy Stossie, not upon another Stasie. Yeah, well,
(10:56):
you know, I wonder what do you think about that?
I mean, Tyler Cameron gets off the show, he obviously
the gig hadid and now he's in that other circle.
Is that just coincidence? Is that something he's interested by?
What do you take take from that? I think it's
I think it's obvious that he does like the celebrity,
(11:17):
the celebrity that has come with his show fame, and
that's not a bad thing. But he's definitely not trying
to go back to a regular life in Florida or
even a regular life running his charity. He he likes
to live in the spotlight and he wants to do
that right now and he's going to take full advantage
(11:38):
of it. And that is totally fine. I know, like
some people will be like, don't shame him for all that,
and I'm not shaming him. I'm just saying that, like
it's evident that he if he has the opportunity to
date somebody a little famous, I think he might go
for it. What do you think, Well, I mean, I
think that's I think you're spot on. I think this
(11:58):
whole world for him has exploded. When we talked him
on the podcast at the very beginning, he was like, hey,
you know, I don't even know what to expect next.
I mean, who have you have thunk that? I don't know.
How many months later now he is all over every
news outlet for the people he's dating, for the circles
he's running in. Uh. You know, if Hannah Brown is
the biggest name to ever come from this show, uh,
(12:20):
Tyler Cameron is definitely probably one of the most sought after.
I would say, like I don't even know how to
say celebrities from the show meeting on kind of like
how recognizable he is now in the United States. I
wonder if so, taking all this into consideration, do I
think it's a smart move. I don't know. I don't
know what he's wanting out of this, and I don't
think either of us are claiming to know. I think
(12:40):
the celebrity part of it is exciting. It's fun, it's
a change, it's it's a little u fork, it's captivating.
But here's what I wonder and we're only gonna know
here soon because social media has really just kind of
hit hits. It's run here in the last year or two. Uh,
and the show is kind of now turned into more
of a celebrity focused show. I wonder after Peter season,
(13:04):
if we're going to see a similar reaction to The
Bachelor Peter and how big of a name he becomes,
and also one of his contestants are two of against
contestants to see if they become real celebrities after the
show as well. I don't know, We'll have to wait
and see because we'd only have one season to really test.
But I mean, even Colton season, you don't he has
(13:26):
it peaked. I mean, Colton season doesn't have this kind
of reaction, right, I Mean, Colton was known, but he
wasn't as known as Hannah. And you know, his top
three people were loved and Cassie's obviously loved by everyone,
and Hannah is loved by everyone, but they aren't as
recognizable as the Tyler Cameron's of the world. I wonder
if this season we see a very similar theme happened.
(13:48):
I don't know, we'll see. I mean, there were rumors
flying that the Bachelor producers are trying to get away
from girls that seemed like they were trying to get
in it for social media and for fame. I don't
know how you really read that out. I don't really
think you can. But apparently they're trying and this is
all hearsay, that they're trying to find girls that didn't
(14:12):
already have a semi established social media page. All law
Hannah ge who went in with like fifty followers. Yeah, no, Hey,
this is a whole new world, one that you and
I will be trying to understand as they go. We'll
obviously be talking about it. It's gonna be talking about
all season. We'll be talking about We'll be breaking down
not only upcoming season of The Bachelor with Peter Weber,
(14:35):
but also how these characters and people that are watching
on TV, how they become even more of of celebrities
after the show. There we'll talk to them, we'll get
to know them throughout this season. But before we do
all that, we do have to end this segment by
just saying, Hey, congratulations, Hannah. It's a big deal. You
want and actually and I could not be more excited
(14:55):
for you. But coming up, we're gonna answer your questions.
We're back, We're ready. We're talking vulnerability today, Actuley, I
don't know what it is. Um, I'm a little I
(15:16):
just got back from Portavar to Mexico, staying at the
yats Eva down there for my buddy's wedding. It was
a great wedding. My buddy Brian married his partner josh
Um on the beach. It was beautiful and Jessica got
to go and my family was down there. But it
hit me the last day and actually, I want to
(15:37):
know what you're feeling. I'm like a little like down
right now, like I don't life. There's a great things
happening tonight. My new restaurant actually opens up called Mr
OsO in Denver night for me, um, And that's awesome, right,
But yet I still feel like blah, Like I'm still
(15:58):
like last night I had this like existential crisis where
I was like, what is happening? Where is my life going?
And is this just the time of year? Is it
like seasons changing? Am I am? Am I Dunn? Actually
what do you think? Okay? I think a couple of
weeks ago, we talked about how just nostalgia in general, right,
(16:19):
and I think that fall in the holiday season always
brings nostalgia, which always makes you just think about your
life and where it's headed a little bit more and
think about your past a little bit more. So I
think that's pretty to our normal, especially around this time
of year. Um, I also kind of understand you. I
think that you and I maybe we will be able
(16:39):
to relate to this, where like most everybody else outside
the Bachelor probably doesn't our life like you, Ben and
I is the most calm in the fall, especially October November,
when there's no Bachelor talk. We aren't doing the podcast
as like machine like as usual. I'm doing so many
(17:02):
less recaps all of that, and then I'm like, go go,
go like crazy, like booked full time job, you know,
all the other nine to ten months a year, but
falls kind of like my summer. So I have been
the past two weeks had like a lot of downtime,
and I'm like, you should be. And I've been feeling
really guilty about my downtime, which sucks because you would
(17:24):
want to use it to relax. But now, like I
feel like in our society, time to relax is not
like looked at as a good thing. And for me,
it gets me frustrated because I'm like, oh man, I
should be working on something else. This means that like
the end of this, at the end of my career
is coming because I have downtime. But I always, like,
I know, it always speeds up again. But these these
(17:47):
lulls come very far and few between. It just sucks
that I can't truly enjoy them. Yeah, because what we
do doesn't have a guarantee. We're not Yeah, it could
end tomorrow, Like I get it. So listeners write us

This bra is going to make your body feel good
and look good. Promise alright? Question number one from Charissa Dixon.
When picking out rings for the proposal, does each girl
pick out a few that she likes? Ashley on the Bachelor.
When somebody is getting proposed to, do they pick out
(22:35):
the rings? The girls do not pick out the rings,
but they do tell a producer who will relay the
message to the proposing man what kind of ring they like?
There you simple answer, It is simple. I mean Neil
Lane shows up to this house. I remember this, I
(22:56):
was sitting there. He opens up a box full of
ten rings. One of one of these rings is obviously
the choice that you should be choosing, Like it's it's
the biggest, most beautiful thing you ever did see, And
he makes it pretty clear that that's the one you
should choose. So really, like you said, the woman have
no choice except that they do to the producer what
they would like. And I think that ring is the
(23:18):
one that stands out the most. So question for you, Um,
there's a there's another guy usually proposing to the bachelorette,
is the guy who she's not going to choose, And
the producers, no, she's not going to choose. Um has
like a ring that's not the kind of ring that
she really wanted. They kind of like throw him off.
I think, So, I think that's exactly what happens, isn't interest. Yeah, yes,
(23:42):
so I think I think there's like I just don't
think that he gets the hints that the other one does. Yeah,
I guess you never only proposed once and you were
the Bachelor, so it was a little different. But um,
as far as the ring you were told, which ring,
Lauren like I was, how did they how did they
(24:02):
tell you? Um, you go around and be like I
like this one, I like this one. I had like
this one, and then he would be like, yeah, but
that one, that one stands out to me, like does
It's like, yeah, it does. So it's it's he is
pretty clear on what which one you should be like
because I don't know I've had any clue how to
(24:24):
pick up rings. I was just looking for something that
seemed nice. Um, so it's pretty clear. It's pretty funny,
all right. This is one that a lot of people,
I think I ask and wonder as they watched The
Bachelor from Sharon len Sharrows. Do they just buy groceries
and everyone cooks for themselves or they order food for
the contestants? Well, actually, I know you and I both
(24:45):
are very passionate about this topic of food during and
when you're in the mansion, I'll talk about this and
actually I'll let you take it away. When you're in
the mansion, you are responsible for cooking for yourself. Now
there's always at one person that likes to do it
for the whole group because either they're trying to be
the hero or they're just a super good cook. But
(25:06):
on Rose Ceremony nights, they have a caterer come in
and heat up like hot dogs and hot pockets so
that everybody eats those, which makes your breast smell awful
as you talk to anybody. So that's the main sion
you cook for yourself. Groceries or ordered, they're brought in um.
And then on Rose Ceremony nights they do have a
(25:27):
catered kind of like finger food dinner, and they also
allow you to write in the kitchen what kind of
grocers you want. There's like an ongoing grocery list to
go and get them every like two or three days.
Then they also have like CBS trips too for all
the girls that need toilet trees, um. And then when
you're out on the road and we're in hotels, there's
(25:48):
like a buffet three times a day in whatever lounge
they set up to be our designated cafeteria basically, and
this is really when the Bachelor fifteen begins, because it's
just a large it's a large buffet spread and the
only thing you look forward to all day long when
you're not on a on a date, and on the
(26:09):
Bachelor that's pretty often, that's like every two of three days.
So you look forward to your meals and you're looking
at your watch being like is it is it meal
time yet? And it's a nice camaraderie too, but you, um,
when you're really just live, when you're being entertained by food,
you really pilot it on and it's not the most
(26:31):
healthy options. It's exactly what you think of when you
think about buffet food. Yeah, all right, exactly right. Kimberly
Benyak has a good one. What do the women in
the house to do when they're not on the dates
because they don't have TVs and they don't have phones.
That was a good lead in could we eat? It's
(26:53):
not false. I mean the guys are the same thing.
We ate And I mean, actually, I don't know if
you remember this on my season of The Bachelorette, Uh,
the game there's like a lot of card games being played. Um,
but you don't have books, you don't have like access
to TV, internet or phones, and so it's a lot
(27:14):
of like just talking life with so much around you,
so much talking life, and you'd think that you get
tired of it after a while, but I never did.
I don't think I did either. I mean, I think
there's moments where I think the first two weeks you're
so nervous, and then once you get used to it,
it's actually very kind of like freeing to be so
(27:36):
focused on what's happening in your own life and you know,
talking to your friends about your insecurity. He's are the
things that you do or I mean, I got to
know Jared so well during my season of The Bachelorette
because he and I really connected on a different level
and we got to talk through life. So you talk
(27:57):
a lot, Yeah, you talk a lot, and if you
need a loan time, you can go right in your journal,
or you can fake a nap or take a real nap.
I faked a nap a couple of times, just because
I wanted to breathe and be like alone with my
own thoughts and daydream a little bit, and then um,
you know, you can take a shower. But we had
(28:21):
our games. We didn't really have card games. I'm not
a huge card game person, but I remember just playing
heads Up a lot. So, um, a handler would give
us a phone with the heads up app. You know,
that's Ellen's game, and we play that a lot. And
then we would play the post it note game, where
you would put a posted note on somebody's forehead and
(28:41):
they had to guess what like historical icon or celebrity
that was on their forehead. And it was really fun.
Like I was all about the postit note game every
now was like, you guys, let's post it no game.
I just love like yes and no twenty questions type games.
That's fascinating, honestly, that's really interesting. Um, while we're on
the subject of talk life with a fellow cont that
this is from Abbey, do you get to choose your
(29:03):
roommates or the rooms when you move into the mansion
or when you're traveling? Yeah, it's this is This is
a hard one because at times, right, I mean, there's
obviously that the producers have an input on who you're
staying with, but really that only comes into play at
least during my time for the last four or five
(29:24):
weeks of this season. For the most part, it is
kind of whoever you want to room with as long
as this person and you get along and it almost
feels like elementary school all over again. When you're like
on your way into the hotel and people start saying
like you want to be my roommate, you will be
my roommate, like kind of like you want to be
my partnery, and you're just waiting for somebody to look
(29:45):
at you and be like, hey, you want to be
my roommate. And then it's the coolest and best feeling
ums in elementary school. And that's kind of how it works. Yeah,
and you don't know how many rooms are going to
be there. There was this one time that Megan, mackenzie
and I all shared one room and one of us
got a cot so we had a king bed and
a cot. Um. It's like a little nerve racking because
(30:06):
you're like, oh, what if I get stuck with the villain,
because a lot of people somebody has to share a
room with the villain. Once you go on on tour
and then um in the house. The first day you
move in, they have your name tags on the bed
and then so you're running through all the rooms trying
to find your name tag. And then after a couple
(30:26):
or so eliminations then girls or guys. I don't know
about you. Guys. Actually girls started moving rooms because it
would be empty bunks and then you'd end up, you know,
being more with your friends. I heard this weekend actually
that on Colton season they separated the youthful girls, like
all the twenty three year olds were in one room
and then all the old girls were in another room.
(30:49):
So I think that they wanted to create that division. Interesting, yes,
so there's like ways that they do it. You're not
and and the other part of this is too A
lot of it come down to like on the flights
there to where you're traveling. I mean we fly in
the back of the plane. Then they pick what your
seats you're going to be in, and so a lot
(31:10):
of like the partnership's friendships kind of like happened starting
on the plane right over to your location. And then
once you get the location, as actually saying, you just
kind of fall in the place. In the rooms, I
say in a couple of times because I roomed with
Sean Booth and I've I mean, I don't know, I
think I just had a better back or something. I
(31:31):
always felt like I was always in a cot. I
sometimes would choose a cot in that one case, because
I just wanted to like kind of have my own
individual spot, you know, like my own place, not to
the share a bed. Isn't it weird? For is it
weird for you guys to share a bed. It's a
little different when girls have sleepovers, I don't think. So
(31:55):
it never felt weird. The only part that felt weird
to me was, like I just said, I've talked about
before the podcast, like and I even thought I think
I did. When Sean was on, it was like every
night he was like he had a really hard go
at it. This was not like his most ideal experience.
So every night as he was like processing his feelings
for Kaylin, I was the one that had to hear it.
And I was also dating Caitlin at the time, so
(32:16):
like it always felt weird to be in the same
room as somebody that was dating the same girl as you.
That was just a weird predicament. But no, I think
when Sean and I did, we just we knew there
was no other option. The interesting one was beck at
Tilly in Joel Fletcher were roommates the whole entire time,
and I mean they're still like best Friends Today and
(32:39):
you could see that kind of friendship blossom on the show,
which is really cool when friendships happened like that from
the show. Yeah, that's really cool. Mark got new question,
sure do, simple one from Emily Moshka. How many camera
(33:00):
are typically on you at any given time? I would
say probably three. There's probably like one or two, like
one close up, one from a different further way angle,
and then there's probably one on the corner of the
ceiling as well. Then, would you agree, Yeah, I mean
there's there's okay, so there's like one that's yeah, definitely
(33:20):
on the ceiling. Three in maybe two or three in
the room. It matters what you're at. Two if you're
just in the house chilling and there's a date going
on and you're not on it, it's probably just one
or two people. Now, if you're on a one on
one date, it's gonna be like eight to nine cameras, um,
with like four people working each camera, so there's like
(33:40):
forty people watching you. Um. Oh. And what about the
gross ceremonies, that's when they have like twelve lined up
twelve cameras with four people working each camera and other
like handlers helping out if you're on a one on
one day, I would say this, Actually, I bet there
is at least sixty people watching on that day. Sixty
(34:03):
you think, like, well, like yeah, but behind the scenes
as well, like in the control room, think there's six
bodies in front of you on the date. Though, actually
you're right, you know, it's not far from that. It's
a lot of people. Yeah, another you get used to
it so like, I don't want this to sound like, oh,
(34:24):
this is like distracting and oh my gosh, it's fake. No,
like you get it's weird. How quickly you get used
to having all these people watching you. Yeah, it's definitely
not weird after a while. The only thing that I
thought continued to stay weird after the four seasons was
a one on one day in a dinner setting when
(34:46):
you were like sitting at the table. It felt a
little bit awkward because it's like the room would be
so silent except for the two of you, and like
a fork did you did that? Yeah? You agree with me? There,
I feel, Yeah, I definitely agree with you. Here's the thing, though,
you're the Bachelor's experience that a lot more than I did. Yeah, exactly,
(35:10):
I was gonna say, like, that's what I got very
used to it. The camera operators are incredibly good at
staying silent and almost being unseen though. Like they it's
a real funny thing to like if you ever do
get the chance to watch them. They like dance, and
I don't. I don't remember many times like looking out
at the cameras, but they like to move and to operate.
(35:31):
They're like doing this like very quiet slow dance around
each other, and you it's hard to notice him. Yeah,
I always felt so in an I t M. In
an interview room, there's usually you, a producer, maybe three
other people, and this is when I would always feel
so accomplished. If I made a camera or an audio
guy laughing there, then I was like if he laughed
(35:54):
and he couldn't keep it in, then I just definitely
got a sound bite there. Yeah. Remember Ashley during UM
Winter Games when I asked to interview you because I knew, like,
I don't think we've ever talked about this, but during
Winter Games Ashley was kind of UM dating somebody during
it mixed emotions. We never talked about this on air
(36:17):
that you interviewed me and I interviewed you, but you
definitely interviewed me far more in debt, but that was
an in depth podcast. It was, and I went into
the producer said, I want to talk to my friend
Ashley because there's some stuff going on. What I really
wanted to tell you. And I don't know if you
remember this, but we were sitting up in the locker room.
You were struggling with a few things, and I remember going,
(36:37):
does any of this point you back to Jared. I
don't know if you remember that, and you're like, I
think we're just friends. I think we're good. Good and
moved on from that, and I just could tell that
you were not your full self and that there was
something missing. And look at you know, I know I
lied to myself so much throughout that experience. Yeah, well
I get it, but I get it. I get why.
(36:59):
But no. So anyways, that's behind the scenes of how
the cameras operate, Miranda. Sure, at what point are the
hometown day it's actually chosen so they can start scoping
the town's out and planning things. There's no way they
actually pulled everything together with a couple of days notice.
So I was eighth place on Chris Soul season. Um
(37:19):
the fault, like the week the week that I was eliminated,
they he eliminate, he eliminated it down to six girls.
So that week before the top six is when they
start talking to you about what you would do at
your hometown, because I did have a meeting with one
of the producers about what would happen at my hometown. Well,
and for me on Caitlin's season different. You know, I
(37:41):
was let I like going third, and they had asked me,
you know what I was gonna do. They talked to
my family. My family knew I was coming, and then
hometowns got canceled. I really do think it's about like
actually said like that sixth, so like maybe a week
and a half before they finalized down the four, they
start talking to the families, start prepping for that day.
(38:01):
But it is pretty quick. I mean that's one thing
that we The Bachelor is very good at throwing some massive,
really cool things together with really short notice. Yeah, my
mom was like, let me know, so I can buy
all new furniture. My parents bought brand new outdoor furniture
when I was on the batch and I didn't even
come home. I didn't even come home, but you did
(38:23):
go home on the Bachelor with Emily did So. Was
the furniture showed off? Oh you gotta believe that's the
very first scene when I walk up on that show
and my parents sitting in their new furniture. Yeah. I
have one other thing to add Uh. Your season with Caitlin,
you your your hometowns were canceled. Did you know that
(38:46):
you were supposed to go to Patagonia the top three
Top three? That would have been really awesome. Yeah, you
were supposed to go there. I found this out leave too.
I think the reason that hometowns were canceled that that
year was because of weather something like that. I do
remember that there's big storms in Patagonia and then in
(39:07):
South America, and I heard a rumor going to South America,
which was great because I had just lived in Peru,
and so I was like, oh, cool, we're gonna like
if we go back to my like Peru, this, I'm
gonna be thriving. Um, Jared didn't gonna hometown because of it,
and I'm glad he didn't. I'm like, I'm glad I'm
a Bachelor girl that you brought home. Oh that's sweet,
(39:33):
all right. Mark. Jenny has a question for the lead.
How does the lead remember the names of all the
people he or if she was calling at the road ceremony,
especially the first few nights. But I think you've touched
on this before I have. UM, Well, first off, you
want to try your best to remember everybody's name because
it's happened in past seasons where a bachelor bachelor has
messed up a name and then it's just funny awkward TV.
(39:55):
So you want to really do your best to remember
the names. People want to say like there's an name
tags or it's written on your hand. It's not. It's
not written on anything. Um. But if you forget, UM,
you either sit there in it or I like to
just take a break and I just take a deep breath,
maybe take a walk away, regroup, rethink about the names. Um.
(40:19):
But that's it. You really have to kind of do
like some some memory tricks to memorize those names, or
it's going to be awkward for everybody. Impressive, Come on,
give us some credit. It's impressive. The job, it is impressive.

lead question, when you travel, did the lead fly on
the same plane as all the other contestants? Oftentimes? Oh
(45:34):
only once? Wait, your souls traveled on the same plane
as you guys? He did? I think on the way
to Um, New Mexico. That's wild. No, So I would
always travel a day beforehand to do like b role
Um and to walk through the town before the girls
got there. And the only time I did fly on
(45:57):
the same plane it was to Jamaica, and Kayla Quinn
wrote me a letter and gave it to the stewardess
to give to me. And one of the producers saw
it happen and actually came and took it off of
my like I had it in my book, and I
was reading it while I was in my book, and
I felt like I was like a little kid in
elementary school getting caught because I was reading it. The
(46:17):
producer came and took it from me as I was
reading it. And I don't know if I ever saw
it so not very often. No, okay, so I thought
it actually happened pretty often, but I'm I'm obviously not
the one educated on this. Well. And here's the thing,
here's the funny part, and it's I don't know if
this is good or bad, but the lead sits first class.
(46:39):
The cast sits in the back of the plane either way,
even if they're not on the same plane. Yeah, I know,
that's that's the image that I had in my head,
which is why I thought it happened often, because the
most vivid image I have of traveling is Chris sitting
in the first class and us walking by him. I
don't even get the flame to walk in the middle.
(47:01):
That's the best, because they have to see the people
in first class. You can walk through. Caitlin Rusky, only McNicol,
great name, bravo on that. What is on the famous
packing lift? And how do you possibly fit everything into
two suitcases? So I saw this question right in front
of me on our rundown, and I looked in my
Gmail and I don't delete anything, and I found my
(47:21):
packing list back that I was sent in two thousand
and fourteen. The date is September four fourteen. Damn, talk
about nostalgia, all right, it's crazy as five years ago?
Should I read? Should I read it all? And might?
Is Warner going to kill me? Um? No, it's a
(47:45):
packing list? Okay, So photo ID and passport valid through
May two fifteen, your cell phone, evening gown, cocktail dresses.
They don't give you a number, um, but they do
say they say everything has to fit in two check suitcases,
a carry on bag, in a garment bag if necessary,
(48:05):
so then we have casual evening clothes, casual day clothes,
workout clothing for indoor and outdoor activities, Comfortable outdoor clothes,
Comfortable traveling attire for long haul flights. Coats and jackets
for dressing up and dressing dressing down. Um clothes for
all types of weather snow, rain, sun and wind, tropical
(48:29):
resort wear, shorts, tank tops, ensembles for semi casual outdoor dining,
all types of shoes, dressy hiking boots, comfortable exercise casual
a sun hat, several bathing suits and cover ups, a
robe or a cover up with slippers if desired, pajamas
and undergarments. One pair of sunglasses. However, sunglasses are not
(48:52):
to be worn on camera. Sunscreen, prescription medicines and original
bottles and refilled any un any necess sarah over the
counter medications, personal items including makeups, gin care products, body
and hair products, and anything you can't live without. But
please keep in mind that these are all limitated. These
are all limited to two suitcases on my do not
(49:16):
bring cameras, do not bring clothing with exterior logos. Yeah
this this, I just want to pause you there for
a second. Actually, intell you, this packing list is famous,
so keep going. But this is a famous packing way. Yeah,
I mean, like, it's so ridiculous. They literally say pack
for everywhere on earth and keep it to two suitcases
(49:36):
and make sure that you have enough to wear for
two whole months. So nuts, Okay, I'll continue. No I
pod or music devices, no computers or iPads, no chunky necklaces.
Um those interfere with sound. So there was one time
on christ this season I insisted on wearing my chunky
(49:58):
turquoise necklace. Was so beautiful, so Pocahonnis like, and they
were like, actually, we cannot, we cannot, not like I must.
It was my only Diva moment. And I taped it
down with like a whole bunch of double sided tape.
We're done. That's it. Yeah, that's it. That's Itaculous. There
you go. You've got the famous packing list. I'm sure
(50:19):
it's changed because there was luggage in there. About iPods,
I don't don't exist anymore, but yeah you get the idea.
All right, Mark, all right, let's see here. How about
um Abby was wondering is there any place in the
mansion off limits? The cameras the bathroom, Yeah, they're very respectful.
Like I never ever in my time felt that anybody
(50:42):
was invading my space to a level that was like, um, inappropriate.
So yeah, the bathrooms, I think, um, that's probably about it.
Everyplace else, like if you were doing something, they had
the right to come watch you. Yeah, and the bathroom
people are going to say, like, what were I've seen
shots of the girls doing their makeup and hair in
(51:02):
the bathroom. Yeah, I mean they'll say camera coming in
to do b role for roads ceremony or date prep.
But like they're never going to go into the toilet still,
you know, or if somebody's in the shower, they're not
going in. And there's actually a bathroom in the living
room of the mansion, like when you see everybody sitting
in there, there's a bathroom, like right off the side.
(51:25):
I would use off the especially, yes, especially during roast,
especially when I was nervous. I'd go in there and
get a breath real quick to make sure everything was good.
That was the most private bathroom because like it had
a door and a lock, and it wasn't attached to
a bedroom, so like nobody was going in there and
just leaving the door open or whatnot. So that was
the bathroom that I would always go shower in because
(51:45):
I knew I could actually have private time. The other
bathrooms girls like are kind of going in, getting out
and getting ready all the time, or like some girl
will be in the in the bathroom, one will be
in the tub. They want to be on a shower.
I'm like, no, no, I just like need privacy right now,
So I would always go in that one, agreed. Sharon asks,
when you're in a different country, are you allowed to
(52:06):
leave the hotel if you're not on a date, no
light seeing you're not, then you want well, I mean,
so there's there's like a day typically where a producer
will have the ability to take you out. So it
doesn't always happen, but if things work out the way
(52:26):
they typically do, you'll get one day to you always
do a b roal day, so you're walking around doing
the sites, seeing the things that are like cool to
the city, and then there's a b roal day where
um or that's the be real day, and then the
end of the week sometimes you just get a free
day to kind of like regroup as the bachelor. Bachelor's
(52:47):
traveling and the cast can go look, but no, for
the most part, you're on lockdown and you're in a
hotel and it's there's like, maybe some time to work out,
But for the most part, we're doing what we talked
about earlier. We're talking, we're eating, we're sleeping. Yeah, but yeah,
I would say I mean for us, at least we
didn't try. We were like the least traveling season and
(53:10):
the girls in the spots that I were, I was at.
We had a day of exploration. But of course it's
together as a group and with producers. It's not like
you get to go like out and be like, you know,
we're gonna go to that local Paris cafe for lunch,
see you guys later. Yeah, no, never quick one from Caitlin.
Has anyone ever sneaked a cell phone out of the
(53:31):
show that you know of? So many people have. One
time in Paradise, I think my sister walked in on
Tenley on her iPad on the toilet and she was like,
Oh my god, don't tell, Please don't tell. That's hilarious. Yeah,
I think it happens quite a bit. Yeah, my sister
(53:52):
her cu snug her phone in for paradise. Yeah, I
never did that. Um, I do know that happened. I
found and I was in Portland, Oregon, Um, during my
season The Bachelor, and I stayed in a hotel room
that had the iPad controlled like the temperature, the TV,
all that the hotel room. And I took that and
got on the internet and I googled everybody that was left. Um.
(54:15):
I don't think I've ever said this. I kind of
forgotten that I was able to like so unlike you.
I know, I was able to read like the next
place we were going. Um, I was able to like
read up on the girls. Um, I definitely did that.
I was able to like see like like somebody had
interviewed my parents in passing and I was able to
(54:35):
hear what their comments were about the whole thing. So yeah,
it was. It was actually one of the most I
felt like I was doing something wrong, and I definitely
felt like they were watching me to catch me in
the act. But now they were so rebellious and like,
even though there's a phone in the hotel room, you know,
just like a regular hotel room phone, I've always I
was always tempted to call my parents from it, just
(54:58):
to like say, hi, I not even to like get
illegal info, but I was too scared to even pick
up the phone for some reason. What are they gonna do? Eliminating?
And actually you're not going to be on this season
anymore because you're so scared. Yeah, Like it's literally you
want to see thirty year old, thirty five year old
I don't know people acting like they're in elementary school again,
(55:21):
go watch the show. Everybody turns into like scared little
puppies and everybody like just like worries about like what
you know, mommy and daddy are going to find Yeah,
my sister. If you guys remember all the way back
in season two of Paradise, so she was dating someone
back at home and she just couldn't well, she was
(55:43):
not exclusive with him. In fact, if you remember all
the sloppiness to it, he actually had a girlfriend. We
don't have to go there. But she didn't want to
be disc you know, not communicating with him throughout the
weeks that she was there. So she sneaks in her
phone and somehow the dumbass forgot to charge her to
(56:04):
her phone. So when her phone ends up dying, you know,
like forty eight hours in, she went. She went to
one of the producers and she was like, Okay, so
here's the deal. I have my phone, I need a charger.
I need a charger or I'm leaving. And he was like, Lauren, Lauren, Lauren,
and they wanted her to stick around. So they kind
(56:26):
of well, I shouldn't go into anymore. But the person
the producer is no longer there, so it's not like
they can get in trouble. But uh, they ended up
keeping her phone and she was allowed to check it
every couple of days just because she was such good entertainment.
They don't frisk you with their new body cavity searchers.
It's just not that serious. It's not that hard to
do it. So I was like, um, you'd have to
bring up burner phone because you'd have to see. That's
(56:46):
what my sister did. So she brought two phones, her
old iPhone and her real iPhone, and she handed off
an old iPhone because they definitely take them. They're like,
we need your phone, we know you have a phone. Uh, Sarah,
do the contestants and the lead have access to a
therapist during and after the show? That's Sarah Kulfiff, definitely, Yeah,
(57:10):
they do a great job with that. There is always
somebody available to talk to if you need them. They
travel with the show, they're around the show. So yes, yes,
and back in the day, I loved our therapist. She
was so easy to talk to, and I remember season
three of Paradise I really utilized her a lot, like
(57:30):
I had my devoted time with her. Alright, guys, well
that was so much fun. We have no more questions left,
but I'm sure you guys are still left with some
questions out there. I would love to do another podcast
like this again, so please email all these questions to
Ben and Ashley at iHeart media dot com or leave
them on our message boards because we'd love to compile
(57:53):
another list and do it again sometime. I think it
would be awesome. And I think I mean that packing
list in itself, Ashley Old absolute gold packing list. Great questions,
