I'm Gary Veeder and I have a new limited series
podcast called Number One Dad.

It may have been the greatest scam for a sports fan,
posing as a Sports Illustrated Kids reporter with your dad
and getting into all the games, not to mention the
locker rooms.

In the nineties, my dad and I ran a khan
for years where we snuck into the world's most prestigious arena,
New York's Madison Square Garden. They would give you credentials.
He's not yet to show up with credentials. Yeah. To him,
just a fun con that he could do with his son.
I love sports, he loved lying. Thanks to our scheme,
I interviewed some of the biggest athletes and celebrities in

the world, even Michael Jordan. Your dad is the type
of person that likes an adventure and likes the possibility
of opportunity. As I got older, I learned this wasn't
the only scheme my dad was pulling. He wants me
to act like my injury is even worse for if payout.
He actually represented me. He's posing as my attorney. There

were moments where Manny would assume the role of undercover
police officer. My father's never ending string of lies ultimately
broke apart my family, and at fifteen years old, I
completely cut him out of my life. That was twenty
four years ago, but I just had a son of

my own, and it brought back tons of memories of
my childhood, along with tons of questions I wanted answered.
How did my father become this scheming mastermind? Was he
like this with everyone? And is it possible after all
these years he's actually changed. I have no idea where
he lives or what he's up to, but my goal
with this podcast is to track him down and get

to the truth about who my father, Manny Veeder, really is.
